So uhh, about trait 6.

This is what I'm leaning towards.

Coordination.

Meaning the ability to do complex moves, including rapid hand signs, complex or agile taiJutsu, high level weapon use, ninja tool use, high level Ninjutsu use in general.

For good execution of complex techniques, coordination is a must. The more technically complex ones moveset, the higher their coordination should be to account for this.

Genjutsu users need not sweat over this. Complex Ninjutsu users, Bloodline traits and the like, should have a decent coordination trait. TaiJutsu users that use complicated attacks should have this. I certainly will with Sora being a speed Blitzer and agile fighter.

You do not need to follow this mold but, I just want to give a picture of what this is. If anyone has issues with this trait, tell me why and please offer a better trait that should take its place.
Oh, Kotori will probably be good at this because he is a very agile and acrobatic fighter

Hello, herro my fellow fellows. Submitted a character, thought I'd drop by here to let people know that I know where here is.

Looks pretty good except for the backstory since the great fox attack only happened about three years ago and it looks like you're assuming it was a longer time ago.

Fixed it! I saw 'Few years' but totally neglected the age of Naruto and Sasuke as hints to gauge how many years had actually passed.

I think I'm gonna split the RP into two threads for the resort. Perhaps one at the baths, one at the dining area, because we are hitting a crazy amount of people lol I think we are at 13. The "other" tab will be the baths, main thread the dining area.

Sounds good my dude.

Edit: If you want to take it further, we can split the group among the two of us so we can make sure everyone gets the attention they deserve.

Assuming the RPs going to skip into the resort, I'll probably wait to post something until then; Uncultured Uncultured / KnightOfNight KnightOfNight would you like me to wait for a 'mission start' to throw my character into the mix, add a 'What he was doing while this was happening' in with my first post at the resort, or do either of you have plans to introduce a new batch of characters?

Uncultured Uncultured KnightOfNight KnightOfNight

Wouldn't coordination generally be implied by a character's given competence in any of the Jutsu stats, though? Like if you're good at Taijutsu you're gonna have the coordination to execute moves accordingly, even with a baser power type like my guy who knows how to execute suplexes and slams and the like. Do you have any idea how complex suplexes and high amplitude throws are? Or, if you're good at Ninjutsu you're probably not gonna be fumbling your magical fingering without some heavy outside interference and so on. It feels like an unnecessary stat that just muddies waters.

KnightOfNight KnightOfNight sure we can split the two threads, you can take whichever one you'd prefer.

CNHart CNHart can be a leaf informant who tipped things off or just a tagged on guy it doesn't matter. Be as creative as you'd like.

Zerohex Zerohex hence the issue of the sixth trait, they're all gonna be filler-ish. This would be my distinction. The Ninjutsu stat, for example, defines the techniques you can do, the traits accentuate how well they mesh with your character. Look at Kakashi in the Zabuza arch, look at how long it took him to summon that water dragon. Now take Itachi, with hand seals so fast you can't even perceive them. He would summon that thing instantly. It's the same level technique, the same ability, but the implementation is the difference.

Let's take your character. You're a tank character. You do have moves that, in real life, take a huge amount of athletic ability and coordination. But in the Naruto verse, Id say they're rather simple and straightforward. For you, you could get away with middle to lower middle coordination. For my speed Blitzer, who fights like a Hornet, twisting and turning, he would require more coordination. Despite you being better at TaiJutsu, the lack of acrobatics and Ninjutsu infused speed make coordination less important.

If you have a suggestion for another trait, let me know please. I'm not hell bent on this trait being coordination, but here are the requirements for the trait.

1. Must apply to both Ninjutsu and TaiJutsu users.

2. Must be important enough so that people won't just put it at #5 and move everything else up.

I know I just got here, but pitching my two cents for the sixth trait. I know the initial five are there because they'll be the ones you see most often, and this one is a bit difficult to slide into RP but given that Stealth is something most, if not all Shinobi/Kunoichi would have a grasp of to varying degree I think it should have it's own slot. Even though putting it really low could make it a Shinobi's Achilles heel, that doesn't mean they wouldn't be exceptionally better at being Stealthier than your average bear; just not as good as others, which is how I perceive the trait system here to work.

TL/DR : Stealth would be a nice Trait to have its own slot.

I considered it, the reason I decided against it was this. The trait needs to be important enough so that people won't just slap it on the #6 slot and slide everything else up. Stealth is important but, if given the option between being stealthy and having no physical weaknesses, I'd take the latter and so would most people, which kind of negates what I was going for (everyone having some tangible weakness as we are all writing Chunin level ninja)

I’m gonna enjoy signing as fast as Itachi lmao

Also I’ll have a post up soonish.

Being unstealthy would be a pretty big downside, especially considering we started this first fight with a surprise attack. Also I thought the plan was to add another third level stat rather than adding a sixth level one.

Uncultured Uncultured I find this argument, fair and well-informed. I shall concede Stealth, and switch sides; aiding in the struggle for Coordination.

Coordination, as explained, coincides with the sort of style your character is running; although, I had some questions about it,

1. Would the application of Coordination apply to all styles or just Taijutsu and Ninjutsu?
For example; the argument here, and this could be used for being a practitioner with the other two styles as well, just because someone might be a natural talent at performing Genjutsu doesn't mean their eye is attuned to spotting illusions their training hasn't introduced them to. So if my character with an average <-> above-average Genjutsu score were to have low Coordination, he wouldn't be so good at spotting techniques he hasn't at least heard of before?

2. Does high coordination only benefit your better scored techniques or to at least some extent all of them?

3. Does coordination only benefit/hinder Speed and Strength, or would it also alter Chakra Control?

The way I saw it, it would add another #3 slot, but I wouldn't force everyone to put the new trait at this new slot. Everyone will be allowed to edit their trait list under the new set.

If the new trait is not important enough, people will slide their weak traits up.

Before you mentioned that Coordination, if low enough, would render certain type of ninja useless. That's what I'm going for. In the same way that a TaiJutsu user with their lowest stat being strength would be useless. Or a Ninjutsu main with Chakra Control and Pool at 4/5. It has to be important. If it isn't something people will consider putting in the top three or four, it isn't important enough and will be an excuse to have no physical weaknesses.

I have to disagree with this part specifically because that seems to go against what he has in mind for the feel of his character. If his moves are simple and straight foward then they lose their specialness and I gotta fight against that.

Right now we have strength, durability, and speed which are explicitly physical stats and chakra pool and chakra control which are ninjutsu based. Now chakra pool also doubles as stamina and speed is useful but not mandatory for being a ninja wizard so we're at 4 taijutsu stats and 2 maybe 3 wizard stats. I really feel that the sixth stat should affect ninja wizards more than punch ninjas.

It impacts Ninjutsu and TaiJutsu users much more than Genjutsu. I find that Genjutsu is the forgotten step child of all Naruto RPs so, I figured I will throw a bone to people that want to use Genjutsu as it does kind of limit you.

It effects everything. However, the more complex your abilities, the more important it is. If you're a guy using a hidden technique speed blitzing using a bunch of acrobatic moves like my guy, well, then that coordination should be high. If you're a tank, mid speed guy who takes hits and dishes out harder hits then it not as necessary. If you're a stationary Ninjutsu sniper than, again, it's not as necessary. I'd say that it's most important for hybrids.

It alters agility, use of weapons, use of ninja tools, speed of hand seals, Jutsu deployment, defensive maneuvers. It doesn't alter speed or strength in any way. Meaning that you can have a guy who is fast and strong, but not very coordinated, in that same vein you can have a Ninjutsu specialist with great chakra control and a big ass chakra pool who can't make handseals at high speed and has trouble deploying the technique at the right time, angle etc.

My intention is to have this as a supplementary trait to help define effectiveness and defensive reactions.

Durability impacts both though. It's 2-1-2.

I will think of an alternative. Or maybe someone can suggest one.
