Earth had little in the way of magic - note the past tense - but it was just barely enough for The Children of Tomorrow to tear open a portal, and allowing Valazoth the Chronicler's realm to spill into our own. Valazoth is a creature that is neither demon nor angel, male nor female, it simply is, representing humanity's hunger for knowledge no matter the price or who pays it. In doing so, the cult swelled the world with a terrifying amount of magic, enough that the entire globe experienced random power outages that cost thousands of lives, but this was only the beginning.
Beings constructed from our very nightmares rose up, beings created from our fears, our crimes, our sins became material, but so did strange and alien beauty and amazing wonders to behold. Elves, dryads, kitsune, oni, even dragons, and some claimed: angels, all suddenly became very real and tangible. What followed was 200 years of upheaval as society struggled to find itself, including humanity trying to come to terms with the fact that it was no longer the sole dominant species on the planet. Now the world has stabilized - or as close as it gets to - with magic and technology being as commonplace as each other, but governments have largely become symbolic as the true power now lies in the megacorp; businesses whom greedy politicians allowed to grow to such a size and with so much power that they overtook those selfsame governments and became the true power of the world.
Borders have all but disappeared, and laws are dictated now not by governmental bodies but by board rooms.
In this world there is a girl named Agatha, a girl with powder-white skin and black makeup; easily identifiable as a goth from any distance, but the secret she knows will cause the world to undergo yet another change...
