Howdy, all! So here I am, once againI'm torn into pieces, posting a 1x1 search thread. Now, I will be honest: I'm not exactly looking for a lot of writing partners right now. This interest check is really just a way to keep track of the thoughts in my head and the cravings I cannot keep making into small group things. Seriously, I need to stop.
With that out of the way, here are some quick things about me!

■ I used to have no age preference. Now I find it harder to talk to teenagers. So. Please be 18+. I'll feel better about my lack of slay or whatever.
■ Please know basic grammar! I'm never going to point out your typos (and please don't point out mine lol I type late at night), but please please PLEASE show me you know how to spell and write sentences. As for informally, make all the mistakes you damn well please, I know I will!
■ I suck at thinking, I'm the first to admit. Nevertheless! I do believe this should be a team effort! Let's both do our best to expand our story beyond our original ideas! (And also have chaotic "non-canon" ideas outside of the story itself.)
■ I'm sorry, but no one-liners whatsoever. I write multiple paragraphs at a time, the number depending on the response I get. So, yeah. Give me some JUICE. Because I will drink up replies and be excited about them.
■ I gotta say, I prefer if you comment in this thread before DMing me, but that's because I'm awkward and always get the "hey wanna rp" DMs that give me social anxiety. I feel safer when I know what's coming first.
■ I LOVE doubling. For fandom things, I can double so long as I actually know the character well enough. Just let me know! Otherwise, you wanna double? Let's do the thing! I LOVE writing multiple characters at once, it's quite literally a problem.
■ Please don't be rude with me. I'm irritable more often than not, and so I don't enjoy being approached with rudeness. Neither of us is perfect, alright? Let's just enter this knowing that from the get go.

I love love love Greek mythology, and so I love doing anything based on my favorite deities. For the most part, I think I'd like modern AU versions of some gods/goddesses/whomever, but I think doing fun things with Mount Olympus would be cool, too! Let me know your thoughts, and I'll give you more detail on mine. Here are the pairs I think about a lot:
Iris x Zephyrus; Hades x Persephone; Dionysus x Ariadne, Apollo x Daphne or Hyacinthus.
I also love doing modern AUs/retellings of most Disney pairings. Feel free to inquire! (I have a very, very large vault of characters.)

Also look at all the rambling.Of course, my 1x1 posts can go shorter or longer depending on the responses I'm given, but they're usually this quality or thereabouts.
The least her mother could've done was understand that she didn't want to wear a skirt. She hated skirts with a burning passion, almost as much as she hated the idea of unicorns and rainbows. Oh, well, at least she'd managed to swap out all the fancy dresses Mom had put in her suitcases for her usual cargo pants, tanks tops, etc. That thought continued to make Skylie smirk as she wandered around the ship. She passed many rooms that radiated with different colors, but she didn't bother go inside them. A mix of colors, plus loud noises? She was not getting a headache today.
Eventually, she made it to the front deck, where there was quite the gathering of people her age. Their auras were mixes of colors, but they kept returning to red: anger and frustration. One boy was peering down into the water anxiously, while another girl chewed out a boy for heaven knows what. Both boys were shirtless for some reason, though one was still dripping. Maybe he'd been at the pool? Whatever, all that mattered was that apparently someone had fallen in the water. Whether it was the dark-haired boy's fault or not remained to be seen. Checking that her Eiffel tower keychain was securely in her duffel bag, she dropped it with a loud thunk! and walked over to the small group.
Normally, people would ask, "What's going on?" or something else relating concern. No, Skylie instead broke in with, "Can all of you shut up? Your colors are giving me a headache." Looking over the railing into the water below, Skylie sighed. "If you guys aren't going to do anything, I guess I'll have to." Clambering onto the railing, Skylie glared down at the water. She didn't have anything against the water itself, but rather, what she'd have to do with it after fetching the girl. With a sigh, she dove into the water, trying to remember if she could swim or not.
Once in the water, Skylie looked around, searching for the girl. A little ways below her was the girl, her fiery red hair floating around her like flames. Swimming over to the girl, Skylie wrapped her arms around her waist, kicking with all her might to swim to the surface. When her head broke through the water, she adjusted her grip on the girl, slapping her lightly on the cheek to see if she'd wake up. Unfortunately, she was out cold. Damn. Turning to look up at the deck she dove from, she narrowed her eyes and focused on the water surrounding her. Slowly, water droplets lifted from the ocean, rising to the side of the ship. They swirled in the air until finally there was a rainbow ladder--or, really, a ladder made of rainbows--scaling the height of the boat.
Wrapping the girl's arms around her shoulders and hooking her legs around her waist, she gripped the ladder with one hand, noting the brightness of the sun. If she didn't hurry, the ladder would dissipate into thin air. Skylie used all her agility as a former street urchin to climb the ladder, feeling the rungs disappear as soon as her feet left them. Her eyebrows knit together in determination until finally, she'd reached the railing she had dove off of minutes before. She pulled the upper half of her body over the railing, dropping the girl rather unceremoniously onto the deck. Skylie herself somehow flipped and landed in a crouch, breathing heavily. Standing up and wringing the water out of her hair, she glanced down at the girl. Her gaze flitted up to the other people around her. "I don't know what happened, but next time, don't just stand there freaking out. Do something about it." The words came out harshly, but she meant every word she said. Sitting around doing nothing got you nowhere, especially when someone's life was on the line.
With a yawn, Skylie scratched her head. "We should either go find a nurse or doctor, or give her CPR, quick, before it's too late." Being the girl she was, Skylie would've done it, but CPR was not in her repertoire of skills. And she wasn't going to carry that girl again.
There were several—some would even say hundreds of ways in which Dorian Apollo Eliades was an idiot.
One of these ways was that he was always losing his phone charger in the splendidly horrifying PIT that he and his roommate and best dudebro, Callaway, had managed to reconstruct in record time. Really, how did two young men like they pull that feat off? Of course Lisa had decided to call right as he was done throwing his stuff out of his suitcases (okay, maybe that was why the PIT had reformed so quickly), and of course this was right as Dorian realized his phone was running out of battery. Of course. In this day and age, losing one’s phone charger was akin to death, especially for a man like Dorian, who practically lived his entire life on the Internet managing his social media accounts.
Another way to prove his idiocy was that Dorian never shut up about making his videos. Somehow, he hadn’t managed to chase away the entirety of the Music Arts department through his methods—most of which consisted of him seeing someone play an instrument and grinning maniacally before shouting, “HEY! WANNA COLLAB?” But, well, his methods weren’t exactly making him many friends. Of course, he had made a good amount, and several of them were the coolest people around (to list them all would be more distracting than this monologue already is), but he needed to rein it in a little.
A third reason—the matter of Mathis. Well, Dorian didn’t know how to explain that one, even when he tried to give his sister the rundown. Frankly, he was still unsure what happened, only that it was definitely his fault, but despite Lisa attempting to explain “you didn’t give him enough attention, Rian, you probably should’ve looked up from your piano more than once” and that he was definitely, indisputably dumped, he was confused. Was this the part where he needed consult the Internet? He couldn’t even look at Mathis whenever they passed each other now; he felt too guilty, and he wasn’t really sure how to apologize. Was this something he could apologize for? Or would it be preferred if they never spoke again? What was the protocol here? Dorian was lost, but then, he usually was in terms of everything not piano-related.
A break from this irregularly scheduled programming: after the stunning scene from The Crucible, Dorian slipped backstage to make sure the grand piano was in tune. With all the bodies moving around, not to mention doors opening and closing all over the place, the temperature was sure to be out of whack for such a finnicky instrument. To everyone else, there was probably no difference, but the poor piano was experiencing so many things. These showcases were fantastic, Dorian loved them, but he couldn’t help but feel like maybe this should’ve been a more official concert, for the sake of the piano. But then, even in a school of the arts, it was unlikely anyone was going to listen to the piano man. (Even if they begged him to sing them a song.)
Back to the task at hand. Surely, there were other ways he could list in that he was an idiot, but the POINT WAS, there was only one thing he was sure he was not an idiot about: piano. Okay, in some respects he was, because he was practically married to the instrument (Dorian x Piano 5EVER), but he knew how to play it, he could write some kickass songs for it, and he was gaining a significant amount of followers on his channel with every new collaboration and cover. Coming to Muse had been one of best decisions of his life—even his followers were begging him for some repeat collaborations and wondering how he kept meeting these talented people.
But he had to focus. His own performance was coming up, and he had a couple new compositions to debut, and OH MY GOD WHERE WERE THEY?!
Dorian’s eyes widened and his hand slapped around his bag blindly while he tried not to panic. Oh God oh God oh God where was it? The first song wasn’t much—a rendition of Moonlight Sonata with some strains of the melody from New World Symphony, because everyone loved a new take on the classics, right? That was why Disney was remaking all those movies, right? (Author’s Note: Dorian doesn’t mind remakes, nor does the author.) He’d been told it was a statement on dreams and how quickly they can be corrupted, but really, he was just having fun with the Beethoven and Dvořák. The second piece? That was his magnum opus, the most important thing he’d ever produced. His mother, Georgia, would have loved it. In fact, he’d named it after her. “Georgia” was the best thing he’d ever written, and tonight’s showcase was going to be its debut.
Mom, I’m so sorry, he thought as he continued riffling through his bag. Unbeknownst to him, it was in plain sight, but as was the case with lost objects, his panic was blinding him to it. If he didn’t find it before it was his time to go on—no. He was not going to think about that. This was a time for solutions, not more problems. Gulp.
Whipping out his phone, newly charged thanks to a spare charger kept in his bag for PIT emergencies, he shot off a text to the ultimate music friend.
Hawk!!!! S.O.S.!!!! Do you still have that copy of Georgia I emailed you? It’s important!!!
Disaster averted. Hopefully. Maybe. Okay, one more look through his bag couldn’t hurt.
He wasn't sure why he had the dream every year before school started up again. The same old memory of turning around to find his parents were gone. That they hadn't wanted him after all. A castoff. An unworthy being. Only for his eyes to fly open, staring at the ceiling where he'd affixed posters of superheroes when he was younger. The most worthy of beings, watching over him, making him feel worthy.
Maybe it was the promise of his ill-fated social interactions, or maybe it was the reminder that none of the members of his "fan club" knew the real him. Not that he knew the real him, either. He hadn't seen him in years. Not since...
Keaton threw his arm over his eyes. He needed to stop reliving this shit. Maybe this year would be the year he'd finally work up the nerve to tell Mrs. O'Hara what was going on with him. They'd gotten so far as him admitting that his personality was a facade, or at least, he was pretty sure it was. She wasn't guidance counselor anymore, but she'd still help him out, right...? God, he hoped so. He'd had enough of this. He couldn't just go see the llamas whenever he wanted to cry anymore.
It was early in the morning. Way too early. Maybe living right next to the zoo was strange for some, but for Keaton, it was home. The animals snuffled quietly in the early morning light, blinking awake as he walked by. They had gotten used to his early morning jaunts. It was a habit at this point. A tradition.
Bernard was waiting for him. Keaton was nineteen, at least since this past January, and Bernard had been born shortly after he was. He remembered this because his mother--adoptive mother, but not any less his real one--had told him they were bosom buddies, meant to grow up together. But unlike Keaton, Bernard was not meant to live much longer than that. So, Keaton felt the twinge of pain in his chest as he saw the ache in Bernard's legs, the strain on his muscles as he lifted his head from the fence. Even now, as an elderly llama, Bernard still did his best to greet him.
Leaping over the fence, Keaton immediately held his hand out for Bernard. Like the Toothless to his Hiccup, Bernard gently bumped his nose against Keaton's hand, moving so he was resting his neck over Keaton's shoulder. The weight over his heart lifted a bit as the weight increased on his body. Bernard healed all wounds.
He could hear the footsteps of his mother, Paula, behind him. "Bernard's getting old, Mom."
"I know."
Keaton felt the heat in his face as he rested his forehead against his friend's fuzzy neck, blinking away the sadness that threatened to spill over. He wasn't ready to let go of Bernard. They were best friends. Sometimes, it felt like Bernard was his only friend. Or at least, the only one who knew what he was really like.
Swallowing the panic, he petted Bernard's head one last time and turned towards his mother. "You'll let me know?"
"He'll stick around for your graduation, Keaton. You know that."
"But you'll let me know, right?"
"Of course. He'll haunt me if I don't."
That made him smile. It wasn't a big smile--no, he hadn't given anyone a smile like that in over a decade--but it conveyed enough. "That's my Bernard."

The tears were a memory, and Keaton had taken one last selfie of him and Bernard that didn't give away the puffiness he'd experienced for a brief moment. He'd spent the rest of the day packing with Paula, and she'd sent him off on a nighttime flight. That was when he slept. Luckily, this time, his dreams were filled with llamas and the parties he was sure to throw this year. He already had the word of his fabulous fan club that they would help with the festivities. Of course, first he had to worry about a few performances... he would never outwardly say it was a mistake to take on both Glee Club and Dance Team, but perhaps he should rethink the idea for his junior year.
There was plenty of time to sleep on a flight from Connecticut to California, even with delays, so Keaton was wide awake when he touched down around 6 a.m. He hailed a taxi to take him to WDU, a grin spreading across his face at the sight of its academic buildings coming into view. Of course, this wasn't one of his real grins, but part of the facade that he put on for those around him. Those real smiles remained back at home with Bernard. Maybe someday he'd find them again.
Ah, well. No time to think about that today.
By the time Keaton arrived at the dorms, the returning students, like himself, were in a separate line to receive their keys. Well, that made sense. After all, he had only the best by his side. And until they proved themselves, the freshmen weren't quite that just yet. Taking his key with a grin shot Wendy's way, he practically sprinted to his room. Gabriel and Leah were already inside, and, of course, he had to have as dramatic entrance as possible for the day. Grabbing onto the top of the door frame, he swung into the room, landing beside Leah and throwing his arms around her. "Darling Leah! How was your summer? Far less bright without me around, I'm sure?"
He nodded cordially to Gabriel. He wasn't exactly close with the guy--in fact, he didn't know him very well at all--but he was vaguely aware of some sort of tension between him and his other darling roommate, Arielle. Though he didn't know the exact details, he had bought many an ice cream for her as recompense for the heartache he was sure was involved. Sometimes, even his presence was healing enough. But only sometimes.
"I've got to unpack my clothes. I'm performing soon with the Glee Club and Dance Team. You should come watch, both of you! I have to pull off a magnificent costume change in between performances. You're sure to be impressed." With that, he dragged his suitcase to his room and threw it open to find his costumes for the day. It wouldn't do to have the most talented performer show up late for his first performance of the semester.
