Lukas was never really the type of person to enjoy a ball. He'd much rather have gone to a barbecue or something, in that he could excuse himself to sit there quietly in more comfortable clothes and simply enjoy good food and drink. But a ball? Well now he had to choose a mask, be social, dance, and mingle. Lieber Gott. They could certainly do without balls.

For the first hour or so, Lukas had no choice but to swallow his discomfort and bumble through the crowd, passing men and women in bright gowns and suits. A string orchestra played on a raised platform on the far side of the hall, providing music for the couples who danced in the very center. On the other side, serving tables held platters upon platters of food being attended by scurrying waiters.

Lukas' usual practice of finding those he already knew and staying to the side was thwarted by the plethora of masks offering their wearers anonymity. Right now, he was considering using that fact as a means of subtly slipping away the masquerade, of course. After all, he could easily claim he was always in attendance since nobody could prove he wasn't among all the faceless dancers. All he needed was the right opportunity...

Desya was not only excited for the start of a brand new school year, but she was excited too for the ball, she loved that she had the chance to feel like a princess and pretend she was inside a book, although she wasn't expecting to find her true love at the masquerade ball she enjoyed just to live that moment that would be remember to her as a beautiful memory.

She made sure that her dress look presentable and that her mask was still in place, she didn't want to give her identity away even if she knew most of the people in the ball except for the ones in their first year, last year she had th same look as them one of nervousness and awkwardness being surrounded by strangers who they would become your classmates made her remember the excitement for wanting to meet everyone and make new friends.

Desya took a look at the center of the ballroom seeing all the pairs dancing, and she would feel a little bit jealous seeing them, she grew up with the love story of her parents and how they danced together in the ball so she wanted to experience the same thing as her parents even if that person wasn't meant to be her true love, but it was better than staying on the sidelines and just watch everyone else having fun.

But either way she wouldn't let that ruin her fun, she was sure she would eventually find someone to hangout, that's when Desya noticed someone who seemed familiar and mostly because they had classes together, and mostly because of the appearance of the guy "Lukas, is that you?" Desya said to the masquerade guy hoping she wasn't mistaken.

Arianna flattened out an imaginary wrinkle on the dress across her flat stomach, her eyes meeting Jen's in the mirror. "There's no back. I can't-"

"Hush it, woman." Jen stepped forward, wearing a navy blue ball gown with a pair of black strappy heels hidden underneath. "With how I did your hair, no one is even going to notice your scar. Promise. They'll be too busy being enraptured by your beauty."

Feeling only somewhat relieved by her friends reassurances, Arianna still smiled despite herself as she let her hands drop to her sides. Deciding to go through with it, she turned and gave Jen a nod. The brunette squealed in delight and snatched a pair of shoes from her closet.

"These'll go perfect."

Sliding them on, Arianna took one last look in the mirror before the pair headed out to the party. They'd be a few minutes late; no big deal. Ari was sure plenty of people would show up fashionably late, if they showed at all. Arianna wanted this year to go smoothly, same as everyone else. She talked alot so that people would notice her, and not the huge scar on her back between her wings.

But people knew. They talked.

This was the boldest outfit she'd worn since... well, ever, really. Normally, she didn't even like her back to not be covered, but Jen had convinced her it'd be good to start the new year off by being bold.

So, drawing a deep breath, Arianna headed into the party.

It was time, once again, for the annual masquerade ball. Elias was to dress up in a ridiculously tight suit and make small talk, mostly with his tutors and professors, no one his own age wanting to talk to him in fear of being bored to death. It was a night of awkward smiles and avoiding looks for Elias. He'd stay until twelve and then he'd go back to his room; any earlier and his father would find out and he would only go on about how it was Elias's duty to carry the Addington name on, as his brothers had. Midnight was the perfect time to cut off the festivities, go to bed and forget the whole night had ever happened. After all, it was his last ball. In a way, it made him a little sad. He had been a child when he had started at Trinity; a boy of 15, wanting nothing more than to be away from home, away from all the hurt that his father caused. And yet, he had hated every minute of being away from home. He hated that he had no one to trust. He hated that he couldn't make friends. He hated being forced into lessons and lectures that he didn't want to take. And so, it came as a surprise to Elias, that when he stood at the hall's entrance, he felt a reluctance to enter. He didn't want this ball to begin; because if it did, he'd be one step closer to returning home permanently.

Still, he'd been at the door for too long, and it was time for him to enter. He put his hand into the pocket of his jacket and pulled out a lace mask; it was a simple disguise and not as heavy as the other masks that people wore; delicately crafted and representative of their personalities. Elias's was weightless, dark, and flimsy. He stretched the elastic over his head and placed it over his eyes, the holes allowing him to see. He had worn the same mask every year. His mum had sent it just before his first ball, knowing full well that Elias was not going to go out and purchase one.

Once his mask was fixed to his face, he was ready to begin the evening. He stepped into the ballroom, as silently as possibly, not catching the eyes of anyone, especially his tutors, and found his way to the beverage table. He picked up a champagne flute, but filled the glass with water. He didn't wish to partake in alcohol or sugary punch consumption, both of which did strange things to Elias. He found a spot by the dance floor, where he could expertly avoid his tutors for most of the night, and blend in with the slightly desperate first years who were looking around hopefully for a dance partner.

Darius wouldn't lie. He was extremely nervous. It was ridiculous, he was a senior, he went through this every year! Yet every time, he felt like he was going to embarrass himself, or become a wallflower, or lose his mask, or-- He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. This year would be different, he was sure of it. Before he knew it, he had arrived at the venue.

He ran his fingers through his cropped hair, and straightened his already straight bow tie. Far superior than the average tie, he thought in an attempt to make himself smile naturally. Then he adjusted his mask. It wasn't all that concealing, but it made him feel a bit more confident about the night ahead of him. As he stepped into the ballroom, he saw a mix of people, some familiar even through their masks, most completely unknown to him. He swallowed, and tried to look joyful as he walked towards the dance floor.

Roux Valentina Ciricello

Ciao, mia bella.

Her eyes immediately fluttered open. A small mew and fluttering wings captured her attention. The two-toned haired female winced at once as she shook her head, trying to rid herself of the memory and call that haunts her. She could still feel his calloused hands clasp around her shoulder, pressing against her skin, a red mark that would forever be etched upon her. His sickly, twisted rumbling words whisper echoes in her ear. She nearly believed she was going insane. The witch wanted to blow out her eardrums to rid herself of the memory or blind herself, but knew, she could never run away. Mercy was nonexistent.

As her vision cleared and her heart steadied, Roux slowly sat up from her bed, eyes wandering around her room under scrutiny. Nothing was out of place and her candles were still lit. The smell of fresh leaves and autumn in the air filled her boudoir as she took a breath, easing her mind. Roux couldn't remember how or when she fell asleep, but she graciously accepted it, after all, it was a much-needed rest. The annual Masquerade Ball was beginning and she knew what followed next: the beginning of a new term. Whether she was prepared or not, Roux could only feel a small dread in the pit of her stomach. She didn't know what she wanted to do with her life after leaving the Academy, but what she did know was that she wanted to continue her studies be it in a classroom or somewhere out in the world.

With a small jump atop Roux's desk, Milky meowed softly as Salem perched atop her shoulders, staring into her eyes with his black, beady ones. Reaching over gently to soft rub Salem's chin, Roux greeted him kindly. At the corner of her eye, a shine reflected against the mirror. As she turned to take a peek at what it was, Milky managed to get ahold of a celestite crystal necklace from the parcel Roux received earlier today. Furrowing her brows, Roux slowly made her way towards Milky, softly petting his head while Salem curiously watched as he moved himself to lay on her head. Carefully taking the crystal from Milky, Roux's lips curved slightly, almost letting out a half-smile. With a flick of her wrist, her record player started playing.

Opening the box she received, Roux peeked inside for a moment before reading the letter that came with it. Engraved inside the letter was a note from her matrigna, stepmother Alessia Ciricello. Inside the box was Alessia's old ballgown, one she wore her last year before leaving the Academy a few years ago. There was a sense of sensitivity in matrigna's letter and Roux felt the emotions coming off the page as she kept it close to her heart. Warmth filled her small frame as she carefully placed the note down on the table before taking out the classy, elegant dress. It didn't escape Roux's notice that the dress looked as if it was sparkling before her eyes just as etoiles sparkled underneath the night sky, however, a sense of disappointment coursed over her in wonder if she was suited for the beautiful dress that was gifted to her.

Her lips pursued, fully knowing that the dress was unsuitable for her, much less, not her taste. Salem chittered slightly, showing his disapproval while Milky didn't look interested in the attire. Roux shook her head, sighing deeply as she was torn between wearing her old ball gown or the new one in front of her. Matrigna always told her that trying something new was the first step into learning, but, everything she wanted her to do was something out of her comfort zone. At the same time, she knew the gown would show some of her rune-markings on her back despite it looking like line tattoos. Knitting her brows together, Roux chewed on her lips before placing the dress down on her bed, deciding to take her mind off the dress for now.

Distracted with the celestite crystal, Roux knew it was a bargain, a deal. Matrigna always knew how to bribe her and the crystal she sent were ones she needed: a gentle healing crystal to soothe anxiety, stressful situations, and difficult relationships. Knowing that matrigna only wants the best for her and not wanting to disappoint her, Roux reluctantly accepted the dress and wondered if she should cast a spell to hide the "tattoo" for a short period of time before deciding to go with it and prepare for the evening. If she wanted to "fit" the part, she had to play the part which also meant dressing according to the theme: a masquerade.

Roux was always confident wearing whatever she pleased, not caring what others thought of her attire. She knew herself more than most. However, that didn't mean she wanted people near or inside the little invisible bubble she created - keeping others at arm's length. Roux was always there, present, but not entirely there, preferring to not stand out. Although Roux didn't mind formalities, especially grand events such as a ball, she still felt a nervous tingle in the pit of her stomach: feeling absolutely out of her element in her attire. But, perhaps a mask was the perfect fit. No one could recognise her unless they were curious about the accessory and jewellery she adorned.

Nevertheless, Roux was presentable. With her soft, curled silver ash hair that fell down her back - she dyed her hair one-tone -, Roux made her way out of her room and headed towards campus where the event was held. But, before Roux could close the room door, Salem managed to fly inside Roux's hair, nestling and hiding inside as Roux left the building.

Once Roux arrived and was inside, the golden vibrancy of the room including the decoration of chandelier, silky curtains, and symbols of architectural representation of wealth, made Roux look upon the ballroom room in awe. Glancing around, Roux glossed over those on the dance floor as she noticed the chairs and tables were placed to the side. The orchestra was in the front of the ballroom on one side and the other side had the food and drink table lined up by the windows, out of the way of dancers but noticeable enough if anyone was famished or parched.

Regardless, for an unknown reason, this time, her last year, Roux felt out of her element. Something about the ball felt unique - an odd sensation despite attending this event four years in a row thus far, including this one. Taking a deep breath, Roux fidgeted anxiously as she rubbed the sterling silver celestite ring on her right ring finger before moving on to touch her necklace. Soon, with one foot in front of the other, Roux's heels slowly clinked against the marbled grounds as the crystal butterfly accessory in her hair, given to her by a classmate: Alice, started to change colours, revealing the colour blue to match the mood she was currently facing.

As Roux made her rounds, observing the entire length of the ballroom, away from prying eyes, she found herself standing to the side of the dance floor. Her eyes lifted up behind her mask noticing there was another a few feet away from her as well. Quirking a brow she studied the male, not being able to recognise the person behind the mask which only bugged her even more. Roux always made it her business to at least fit a name to a face, but with all of these facades and mask, she couldn't tell.

"Buona sera," she muttered under her breath, though her head never moved in his direction. [ translation: Good evening ].

"Headmaster Eabarcrombaigh noticeably arranged for the ball to be quite. . . .esagerato." Roux commented matter-of-factly with no hint of sarcasm before ending with a small, curious question. "Has it always been this flashy? Or is he expecting visitors?" [ translation: exaggerated ].

Roux's gaze stayed fixated on watching the other students going to and fro the dance floor. Her eyes zoned in on the different dances, especially ballroom dancing. She wasn't used to this type of style nor music, much less the pop! of brightness in the ballroom. Without her notice, Salem peeked around from behind her neck through her hair, his mischievous eyes eyeing the fruit on the food table.

Zed Hisakawa:
It was finally that time. The start of a new school year, and in celebration, the Headmaster was hosting the usual annual masquerade ball. This event would mark the start of Zed's third year at the academy.

The young water mage slid his arms through the sleeves of the suit he'd chosen to wear before grabbing onto the collar with both hands to neaten it out. The suit was black with a blue floral pattern, to match his tastes in colour. Beneath the suit, he wore a simple charcoal black shirt, which matched perfectly with the black trousers and shoes. Zed sat on his bed and looked at the mask within the drawer compartment next to him. It was the same mask, the one he'd always worn. But, it's something he treasures and keeps close to his heart, a kitsune mask, that his mother had made for him. Its appearance differed significantly from everyone else's masks, this often made it easy for others to identify Zed amongst the crowd, where there tends to be a sense of anonymity. Regardless, with a dejected sigh, he placed on his mask and headed over to the ball.

The room was well-lit with a large, exotic, chandelier hanging steadily above the dancers in the centre of the room. The entire area had been perfectly adorned in golden decorations, which added to the lavishness of the event. To one side, the orchestra, which was playing classical, gentle and relaxing music to match the pace of the dancers. On the other side was a long linear table which is where all the refreshments were being served. Naturally, Zed stayed to one side, discretely making his way over to the food and drinks. The dark-haired boy wasn't much of a dancer, in previous years, he'd made a fool out of himself when dancing, his partners usually regretted asking him to dance instantly. There'd been times when he'd stood on his partner's foot or dress. The movements are so simple, yet he could never quite get it, he was used to a more elegant and nimble style that his older sister Nami performed. Hence the reason why he attempted to avoid attention this year.

The masquerade always caused a flutter in Alice's stomach, a bundle of overly energetic butterflies that were just as eager to dance around the tiny space as the hormonal teenagers were! Although with less sweat and grinding, thankfully, did they... A question and investigation for another time. The masquerade was a large social interaction, something she wasn't all that good at to begin with and the entire 'masquerade' aspect was rather lost upon Alice and it wasn't like people had limps so the mask was really just to meet the requirement as everyone knew it was her, well, the people that knew she existed knew it was her. Even if she wasn't exactly wanted, wasn't going to be the center of conversation or even more then a wall flower, Alice did so love the ball. The people dressed up so beautifully, spinning across the beautiful marble floor, the lights glittering and reflecting off them as the music swept through the air. Few were actually good dancers, but it didn't matter because the missed steps and turns added a certain beauty to the dance. There was something about imperfection that captured the heart in a way that few understood better then Alice.

Yes, the masquerade was a spectacle she enjoyed to watch and there was also the dresses she could make! It was a great way to flex her creativity and magic, this year she had gone for a 'fish out of water' feel with shimmering brass scales, each meticulously sculpted by the arcane so they fell down her body in waves, the scales caught and reflected the candle light sparking with a radiance the wearer did not share. The slim dress bared her shoulders and cut just a little short that was making her feel awfully anxious now that she was in it and it took a constant conscious effort to not ball her hands up at the base to shield her legs from wandering eyes not that Alice was under any delusion people would be looking. Her mask was no less refined, porcelain and brass shaped like a cat's face which, admittedly, did not go with her 'fish out of water' dress, but as she couldn't bring Mrs. Pawson to such events, it was a way for her to bring a friend with her. People usually came to these things with their friends, so why should she be any different? What truly made the mask special was the black marks across the white porcelain forehead. From a distance, they appear as if simply a designed etched in, but upon closer inspection, the black marks dance across the surface. To the musically trained and inclined, the marks are actually music notes, the notes to whatever song is being played at the time as the mask 'absorbs' the sound and displays it across, after all, even if her body cannot dance, and no one would ever ask, it never stopped her mind from dancing to the tune even if others would not notice.

Alice's long hair was tied back into a wild mess she called a 'ponytail' that looked distinctly off from the beauty of her attire, but that was Alice. She was a designer, a creator, she was never meant to wear the beautiful things she made. She would have much preferred designing the clothing of the other students then wearing one herself. When she had gazed at herself in the mirror, she had almost not come. The dress and mask were so beautiful, such fine work, they deserved to be used, but not be her. She was a lanky, awkward mess, as they would say where she was from, 'dressing up a pig don't make it a princess'... As the thoughts turned uncomfortable, Alice leaned against the cold, stone wall, the soft hiss of pressurized air being released drew her attention down to her legs, to her exposed left leg. The mangled foot that couldn't be forced into a high heel no matter how hard her mother had tried when she was younger. The forced her to limp and kept her from attempting to dance, around the soft pale skin of her shin and thigh was a metal cage. Magic infused steel and brass, runic hydraulics that she had forged in her first year and couldn't bare to replace or upgrade. The contraption allowed her to walk, even if oddly, without support but would release the occasional hiss as it vented the pressure buildup. Alice preferred to keep it hidden under bulky pants, but that wasn't possible with the dress she had designed for another woman who did not exist.

Her bright eyes took in the empty space around her, the moat she had never figured out how to cross. Creating wonders and trinkets was so easy, but that moat was always so impossibly large. The music picked up just a bit and Alice swayed a little to the music, the contraption on her leg groaning a bit as the metal stress to compensate, she softly hummed a tune that did not exist as she willed herself to forget, to blend into the wall behind her and desperately wished she had brought one of her friends, anything to not be alone, surrounded by the moat. Out of instinct, Alice looked around for the old man, for solace.

Ventus showed up to the school grounds with a crash. Literally a crash. He decided it would be faster if he tried flying the last stretch toward the school instead of walking but instead he had to crash land into the lake just outside the school. He got out and dried off before heading to his dorm to get ready for one of his favorite events, The Ball. He made his way in greeting new students who looked like they were still processing what they were seeing but he didn't really stop to help any of them. He spent no time getting lazing around his room. He had to get dressed and he loved the new suit he got as a gift from his cousin over the summer.

He put on his best smile after getting dressed before pulling out his mask. "Never really liked masks but i have to for the dance so i guess this is okay" he said to himself before sliding it on and headed toward the Ballroom. When he arrived he saw the party in full swing. Other students were dancing, some were taking by the door, and others were trying their best to look like this wasn't one of the most awkward moments of their lives but he felt right at home and he wouldn't wish to be anywhere else. He looked around for anyone he might no or any new faces that look like they desperately need someone to talk to until his eyes fell on a Fairy girl he knew from last year, Arianna Johnson. She was a year older than him and obviously not even the same species but she was like a breath of fresh hair. She was beautiful and he liked that she was at least honest. He walked up to her "Hey Queen Bee, you look nervous. If its because of your dress you shouldn't be, you look amazing tonight" he said with a soft smile after bowing to the girl. He held out his hand "Would you care to dance?" he asked awaiting the girls response.

Babette Duprè

Babette has spent a few days to prepare for the masquerade. Like the other masquerades that she’d attended in her lifetime, she spent time with her manman and grann. They three of them would pamper themselves and have a nice time out, going to their local spa for a girls’ day out. But seeing as Babette was the only one attending the masquerade, she was being pampered by herself. The day before she had gotten her nails done to match her dress, the one the was being made by her Grann, and after her mother washed and treated her hair. The routine came easy for the trio.

The next Day Babette spent as much time as she could with her. Seeing as her stuff was already at the school Babette didn’t have to worry about packing. Coming might time, the young woman was all dressed up for the masquerade. Her family gazed at her with tears in their eyes, just as they did the years before. Babette could feel her eyes getting watery but she held them back. Parting from them was always hard but it had to be done. So with a final goodbye and hug with them both, she grabbed Zombi and was on her way. Like the year before Babette managed to sneak Zombi in with the help of her dress, it wasn’t long before the snake slithered off to do who knows what. As long as he didn’t eat anyone Babette was fine with letting him do as he pleased.

As she walked inside Babette was reminded of home already, of her manman and grann, of the extravagant parties they would hold in their family home, the ballroom filled with music, food, and the sound of people talking, laughing, and having a good time. She missed home already. One the bright side at least she was finally a senior. It wouldn’t be long before she had to go out into the real world.

Babette looked around the room with an almost bored look on her face. This was nothing like the masquerades that were held back home. It was boring, dull in the worst way. Of course there was magic and she was glad to be back but she couldn’t help but compare. There was no smell of home cooked food lingering in the air or couples wrapped around one another, dancing the night away. Honestly she wished that things were more lively.

Lukas was not completely unaware of somebody approaching him, although he did not look away from what he was doing until they spoke up. He had been thinking about which exit would take him fastest to his dorm room, but not so conspicuously as to draw suspicion from the teachers.

"Lukas? Is that you?"

Lukas turned his gaze from the door, eyes locking onto Desya over the crowd. "Yeah." He could feel a thin, sheepish smile start to spread on his face. "It's me. Almost didn't see you there." He wasn’t really sure how else to greet her. Hugging had never really been a thing, and it definitely wasn’t now. A handshake would be weird. Just saying “hi” felt half-assed, so Lukas went with the no-assed version and skipped straight to the apology.

"Sorry if i leave a bit early tonight. I, uh, have some homework to do."

Zed Hisakawa:
At the food and drinks table, Zed indulged in the mouthwatering confectionery. Admittedly, he was enjoying trying the wide selection of chocolates. His favourite, the white chocolate wonder, a small diamond-shaped piece that had a vanilla flavoured interior of a creamy consistency. Its taste was divine. As for the drinks, there were countless cocktails and mocktails beautifully presented in a pyramidal arrangement. The water mage picked up the glass containing his preferred drink, a sparkling blue Hawaiian mocktail. It was as refreshing as ever and even managed to lift his spirit a little, surprisingly.

Oblivious to the events occurring around him, a female teacher that was working at the refreshments table approached Zed and asked him about doing her a favour.

"Hi there, young man, would you come over here for a moment?" she gestured, holding two pristine metal plates that had several drinks on each.

"Erm, of course," Zed hesitated, moving closer to where the woman was stood. "What's the matter?"

"I was wondering if you could serve these drinks to the students across the ball, would that be okay?" she requested, slowly moving the plates towards Zed as if she was expecting him to abide.

Zed sighed, reluctantly accepting with a nod. He held a plate in each hand and traversed the ballroom offering drinks to anyone willing to take a glass. While carrying out his unintentional job, he spotted what he presumed to be a couple stood together to one side, one was a fairly tall blonde haired male that was well dressed and had sharp features. The other was a female with equally sharp and distinct features, her hair was dyed a captivating silvery-grey. Thankfully they seemed to be avoiding attention, which meant Zed wouldn't have to draw the stares of the many dancers around him if went over to offer those two a drink. With his decision made, he walked over to where they were standing, opting to take the longer route around the edge of the room.

"Greetings, could I possibly interest either of you in a drink?" Zed asked courteously.

Roux Valentina Ciricello

The masquerade ball continued as the fluorescent lights beamed through the crystal chandelier causing a glistening, sparkling moment on those dancing 'til their hearts were content. Her eyes gazed in wonder and inquisitively when she saw happy, content smiles and rosy cheeks as each dancer passed-by in twirling motion. Unconsciously, the blood witch found herself enthralled by the rosy cheeks wondering if all the blood rushed to every females' head by dancing. But, moving to the rhythm, not realizing she was swaying, Roux allowed the flow of music to course through her. Her head moved to the side as she internally hummed a small tune in her head. Roux appreciated the allure of the tone and melody.

However, from behind, Roux's eyes twitched, as she zoned in on the gossip her classmates were speaking loudly about, not trying to hide or be discreet about their need to amuse the rumours around the academy.

"Who do you think did it?"
"Was it her?"
"Nah, she's too boorish to make something exciting happen again with her metal."
"You don't think it was - "
"I wouldn't be surprised!"
"Whether you know it or not. . . they're the IT bitches. I could sense it!"
"Tch. Them? It should be us. Those -"

Whoever they were talking about, Roux could only shake her head. They had an active imagination and wanted excitement, she assumed, in their life. Whatever made a story or made sense in their mind. But, Roux heard the rumours. It doesn't take long for stories to circulate through the grapevine. However, rumour or not, Roux stuck to her idea believing that perhaps it was stray creature looking for refuge who managed to find it's way into the first floor bathroom, breaking two of the stalls, or a flying animal had been blinded by the sun causing one of the windows to be shattered on the third floor dormitory of Lux. Thankfully, both times, no one was inside.

Regardless, the more they whispered and spoke without a care in the world, the more Roux could only narrow her eyes, feeling irritation seep in her skin. The year was just starting and things were already spreading whether faux or not. However, a thought occurred and Roux could only unconsciously touch her necklace, furrowing her brow. They mentioned her in passing and Roux knew what they were implying, especially since one of her peers had been the cause of harming her classmates. But, she believed her, especially when the hairpiece in her hair was made by none other than Alice.

When it came to Alice's mechanical friend, the harm, whether deliberately, subconsciously, or not, spread like wildfire. The headmaster and the rest of the professors nipped the accident in the bud, but, it still happened. There were plenty of mishaps that happened at Trinity, but all the worry and the pain were always erased by the Headmaster's soothing words and reassurance. Action, of course, was taken so that another incident wouldn't happen, but although mistakes were made, people never allowed that mistake to be forgotten.

Nevertheless, sighing internally, before Roux could move to head to the refreshment table a voice from behind caught her attention.

"Greetings, could I possibly interest either of you in a drink?"

Turning around to answer the male's question, Roux found herself blinking back a surprise. She was content as she found herself staring up at the greeter before her. With a small head tilt to the side, Roux looked over towards the male that was by her side before giving the male in front of her attention. With a small nod, Roux made her way forward to gently grab a drink in her hand, "Oh, yes, of course, grazie." She finished, slipping into one of her native tongues. "Are you not joining in the dance?" Roux questioned softly, hearing the music change behind her. "Did someone intentionally put you on duty or you volunteered?" She asked in wonder.

However, as Roux waited for the male's response, she took glances at the male. Memories flooded back as she stared at the mask, recognising it. It wasn't just at the ball she had seen such a mask, but outside off-campus, in the courtyard. Roux wasn't one for games but, she was more than relieved to recognize someone familiar to her. She was a bit put-out at the thought of not remembering who was who and hated the facade of a mask at the masquerade ball. But, who was she to complain? She found herself unconsciously going along to the whims of the headmaster, her stepmother, and the professors. He was another who had piqued her attention. Rumors were a vile thing but, she had to admit, if it weren't for them, she wouldn't have known about him. Another who couldn't control their abilities. But, they shared a secret and Roux couldn't help but wonder what made him reveal it to her. Nevertheless, Roux absent-mindedly twisted her crystal ring before inquiring, "Have you seen any constellations tonight?"

Without a moment's notice, Salem quickly flapped out of Roux's hair and swiftly moved towards the fruit tray, his wings hitting Zed's checks before landing himself on the table. Wide-eyed, Roux gasped, "Salem!"

Zed Hisakawa:
The female of the pair accepted Zed's offer and picked up a glass from one of the plates he was holding.

"Oh, yes, of course, grazie." she said politely, subtly switching from speaking English to Italian.

That much, Zed could understand after spending over two years there and in response, he smiled bashfully. As he stepped away, about to leave the two be, the young silver-haired woman stopped him and asked.

"Are you not joining in the dance?" she questioned.

"Er...w-well I...you see," Zed stuttered.

"Did someone intentionally put you on duty or you volunteered?" she further pressed.

"Someone put...actually, I'm not really sure, both maybe."

Zed couldn't help but feel like a nervous wreck, he had no cool. His answers were cryptic, but even he couldn't fully understand what was going on his head. It was as if there was a second party, even bigger than the one currently taking place around him, occurring in his mind, that somehow obscured his thoughts and clouded his judgement. His highly active brain caused him slight pain, however with his hands occupied with the plates and no tables nearby to place them on he was forced to bear with it. Unexpectedly, amid Zed's mental struggle, the silver-haired woman's next statement baffled the water mage.

"Have you seen any constellations tonight?"

"Constellations? Why would- Erm, no, I haven't unfortunately, I've been stuck indoors most of the evening," Zed replied with a raised eyebrow, noticing the woman play with the unique crystal ring on her finger as she asked him. Part of Zed felt a sense of familiarity from the woman, the strange crystal on her ring looked like something he'd seen before, but he couldn't quite pinpoint where he'd seen it just yet. "Honestly though, I think I would much rather be outside on this cloudless night, the stars are glistening beautifully. I'm sure I'd be able to spot some constellations quite clearly tonight." he sighed, fantasizing about laying in the grass and looking up at the stars in the cool breeze.

Without warning, Zed was, quite literally, smacked out of his daydream when he felt something whack his cheek. Though it'd didn't hurt, Zed instinctively placed his right hand on the part of the cheek that had been hit, completely forgetting he was holding a plate full of glasses. The young specialist winced as he'd quickly realized his fault, which was shortly followed by a slight cry of pain. His palm stung, it had been cut relatively deeply by the shards of glass that had ruptured upon coming into contact with the floor. His blood was watery and was seeping out of the cut uncontrollably. It was fortunate that he'd managed to back a safe distance away before the incident occurred, meaning no one else should've been injured.

"Of course this happens to me, which other imbecile could be so clumsy?" he muttered inaudibly, cursing himself as he held his hand tightly to try to restrict the blood flow.

The decorations were stunning; whoever had put this together had done quite the job and gone all out. Streamers, balloons, confetti and more-- and yet it still all looked glamorous. As she stepped towards a table to grab a glass of some shimmery liquid, she touched some of the tiny confetti and glitter pieces with the tips of her fingers.

"Hey Queen Bee, you look nervous. If its because of your dress you shouldn't be, you look amazing tonight."

Hearing a voice, she brushed the glitter off between her fingers and turned, spotting Ventus. A soft smile spread on her features at his compliment, and she curtsied a little bit. "Why thank you." She told him, suddenly hyperaware again of the mark on her back. Drawing in a breath, he asked her if she wanted to dance, and she found herself agreeing.

"Sure." Drink that she hadn't quite picked up yet forgotten, she stepped towards him and let him lead them towards the dance floor. She didn't know Ventus well, but well enough from the previous year. "How have you been?"

Ventus lead the fairy girl to the dance floor by the hand "I'm doing fantastic! Always loved being here at school....but thats just me. How about you how was your summer?" he said just as they made it to the edge of the sea of dancing students. He took her hand in his and put his hand on her hip and lead her in a waltz. As they swayed through the crowed and around people he took a long glance at Arianna "This isn't weird is it? My mom made me take dance lessons before i enrolled last year and they just stuck with me" he said trying to hide the red embarrassment growing brighter in his cheeks "You really do look lovely tonight" he smiled lightly toward her. They never talked to much last year so they never got to know each other too well but he didn't mind the time they did talk. He heard many students talking about a scar on her back but he didn't care about it. He knew just from looking that she was semiconscious about it so he always tried to lift her spirits "So you're a year closer to graduating, have any idea what you want to do once you're out?" he asked with a look of genuine curiosity.

He continued to lead her through the dance floor swaying to the music till the song eventually stopped before changing tones "Well Miss Jamison, you definitely are a wonderful dancer" he bowed to his partner "I remembered i interrupted you getting a drink, shall we?" he said motioning toward the refreshments table. "It would be my honor if you'd let me accompany you around tonight" he looked back on his summer and what his cousins would say all vacation 'Man you have to take initiative when it comes to these things. If you see a girl you like take every chance you can to show her who you are' he smirked at the thought and didnt realize he had done so in front of Arianna. He immediately felt shy around her which he found ridiculous because it wasn't nearly this bad the year prior. He tried his best to make it look natural "So, shall we?" he asked while looking at the fairy girl.
