Bio:
Jena was raised by Hippies. Yes. Hippies. Pot-smoking, make-peace-not-napalm, flower crown weaving hippies. Yeah, so her parents and their friends might have been a little stuck in the 70s, but it wasn't such a big deal. The day her parents brought her home they threw a party, inviting their closest friends, three married couples (Mary and Clide - Katerina and Jennifer - Delilah and David). They gathered around and sang kumbaya while passing around a baby and a bong. Sure it wasn't the most healthy thing, but they all loved that little baby to death. The group of hippie types raised her in such a way that it could have been easy to forget which couple were her real parents. They took turns watching her and each taught her different things about life. There was never a moment in her young life that she wasn't surrounded by people who loved and protected her. She got on pretty well for the first few years of her life. They all taught her to appreciate the Earth and everybody on it, all while being very, very, high. The group homeschooled her until she turned 14 and she was always a very bright girl. Though she was also severely sheltered and grew up in an extreme state of naivety. It wasn't until her first year of high school that she really realized her family life wasn't exactly normal. She was teased incessantly the first day she showed up to school, a flower crown in her dark wavy hair, wearing a too-long draping shirt and a patchwork skirt. Since then she's learned that hippie clothing is not exactly chic, but she didn't let that get to her too bad. She learned so much that first year of high school; how to make friends with people, how to communicate with humans who aren't high... She adapted slowly, but eventually, she started dressing in a way that she felt very comfortable, while not being ridiculed and keeping a close bond with her family.
It was with her dad, the biological one at least, that she found her passion for music. He taught her to sing and play the guitar. He had played the guitar for years, singing old 70s songs as him and his friends passed around the weed. He taught her too, and she fell in love with the instrument, but when a friend let her test out their bass at school, she fell harder. She spent her entire savings that she'd earned taking care of her neighbor's cat and babysitting her cousins on a used bass guitar she found online. Ever since then she's played like her life depended on it. When the band was starting up, her family was a little unsure about it. They would never have stopped her from doing something she wanted, but they were scared it would either take her away from them, or that gaining fame would swallow her whole. They very reluctantly gave her permission to go on the tour of the states when that came up, and called her every morning and night while they were touring. The topic of the band is still something of a sore subject around the family, but they try to ignore it best they can.
Personality:
Jena is, well, Jena. She is one of the most optimistic people you'll meet and is always too quick to trust. She can't help it really. She is extremely open-minded and easily excited but can go a little over the top sometimes. She also has zero sense of a 'personal bubble' or a 'filter', which can prove problematic at times. Not that she really ever has something offensive to say, but she can sometimes get too close for comfort around people who aren't used to her personality. Though, if she knows you well enough and you can't stand it, she'll do her best to remember and respect your space even if it's against her nature. Music is something that affects her more than anything. Happy songs make her happy, sad songs make her sad, and anything with a good beat can get her on her feet and dancing. She's naive and sometimes it can come across as simply being gullible, but she's still fairly book-smart; it's the 'street-smart' and 'people-smart' stuff that stumps her.
Jena cannot stand conflict. Violence, or simply raised voices, will send her cowering in a corner or running for the hills. When put in a position where she has to make a quick decision she'll often clam up on the spot. Despite this, on stage or while performing, she radiates confidence. She practically glows. Music is her 'happy place'. She also loves paint. Sure, she has no clue how to use it, but finger painting on a canvas is one of her all-time favorite hobbies. However, she is a dreadful artist when it comes to visual arts.
Appearance:
Jena has wavy, dark brown hair and striking, pale green eyes. She almost always has a smile on her face and walks like she's lighter than air. Jen is fairly short and thin, and usually wears a lot of small silver rings. Her clothes are mostly loose fit or lacey clothes. She doesn't wear makeup but has pristine skin and long, dark eyelashes. Generally, she is considered very pretty...
Extra:
Jena loves her family but has never been too fond of their lifestyle. By that, I mean she can't stand the smell of weed and has mild asthma so she tends to stay away from home as much as possible. She has a hard time following sarcasm a lot of the time and doesn't get innuendos or dirty jokes either. She can sing, but she would much rather just play the bass. Whenever she says 'family', she means her biological parents and her other nonbiological parents... Jena is a bit of a klutz too and, because of her parents her clothes always smell a little like weed or cigarettes, but she tries to cover it up with vanilla Ferbreeze...
Will Probably add more to this as the RP goes...
