Lir the Forest Prince
Roleplay Type(s)
It was a cold grey day, mist clung to your ribs when you breathed in and hot air looked like dragons smoke when you breathed out. Red noses was not uncommon for those outside on a day such as this. This was also the type of day where you held your children closer, or else the mist that shrouded the forest in cold might steal them away to the other world. Or so says the old magic.

Conri was returning home, but not fully out of free will, he had a job to do, there were large monsters attacking the town of his childhood, though not always pleasant he wouldn't let them suffer. He slowly, on his own walked up to the gate, one of many that had them closed for obvious reasons, he whistled, being recognized by his red wolf fur and not his face was something else, but in due time his face would be known, one of the guards was yelled at to go and tell the leader himself, Mr. Sanjo that The Red Wolf was there.

Conri watched, staying quiet and he saw the commotion and anxiety, the Guard knew his face, the recognition was in his eyes, and that brought fear. Conri was talked to, being brought to the town hall to wait for Mr. Sanjo.

The poor guard that had been sent to find The Mayor, he was easy to find, but he still ran, scrambled on the stone streets to run and let the leader know of who was there. He burst in on what seemed to be an important meeting, but he blurt it out, "THE RED WOLF!! HE IS HERE AND AT TOWN HALL!" He huffed and panted like an old dog, waiting as other important members started to talk in... an excited hush.

The Red Wolf would help them, their monster issue started up and he was called on to fix it, the hunter was known for fixing many a town's problem, form small animal problem to as large as a oger tribe, with his four wolves, he could fix their issues without breaking a sweat.

Mr. Sanjo's face turned reddish when his meeting was interrupted in such manner. He was an important man and had important business to talk about. And now he had someone bursting in the tavern in the middle of the important discussion about the monsters around the town! The mayor was in his late 60s, had a greyish hair but impressive figure. He may have come out as sluggish or with serious nature, but he was in fact gentle man with loving wife by his side. Ms. Sanjo did not take part in the meetings though. She ran a small shop of jewellery nearby and was busy with it from dawn to dusk.

On the mayor's right side sat his son. Ryoshi was the town's pride and joy, always entertaining people with parties and plays. Mostly parties. He did take care of the town's monster problems from time to time, but lately things had been different.

Mr. Sanjo shook his head frustrated until the news actually hit him. The Red Wolf had come.

"Hurry! Hurry! Let's go greet the man!" the mayor rushed and stormed out of the tavern door. He sure did pick up a pace given the right motivator.

Nobody had actually belived to see the boy, or young man, in the town ever again. Some said the town hadn't really given it's best at the time.

"Welcome. Welcome!" Mr.Sanjo trumpeted as soon as his eyes caught the figure of their guest. "We are in your debt!" he continued and pulled out a chair for The Wolf.

Conri turned slowly when he heard the sound of the door opening and the old Mayor came in, talking quickly and pulling a chair out for him. He was quiet, though he spoke, calm and smooth tone when he did. "I am here to do a job ...."He however gave a nod and sat down in the chair, cloak getting pushed aside to reveal all the weapons he carried, things he has, and will use to fight the monsters.

He has two axes, many daggers, a sword and a bow with a quiver full to the brim with arrows. Conri was very different from when he was a child, as a kid he was quick to cry and upset, a bit of a scardy cat as well, but now he was the calm one, the mysterious stranger who seemed to have everything under control.

His eyes were animal-like, wolf-like even, amazing kindness and sweetness could be there, but so could anger, rage and a cool calm, which is what he had right now. "Let's get down to the important thing, tell me about the monsters and the attacks as of late,"He let Mr. Sanjo take the floor now, going quiet. His eyes shifted to the door of the hall, watching as many other figures flooded in to see the Red Wolf in action.

One person he did not think he would be seeing right then was Ryoshi, his eyes flickered with something, not anger, not joy, not fear or anything, regignision, but that was gone when his gaze looked back to the Mayor.

Mr.Sanjo started to explain the recent events. First the mist had gone dense. As in dender than before. Sure there was the story of children taken by the mist, it scared no one these days. Until a child actually went missing. Mr.Sanjo kept a pause here for dramatic effect. After the disappearance strange noices started to disturb the townspeople and livestock alike. Since the children were now kept inside, whatever it was that was closing in to the town had now settled for cows. Mr.Sanjo paused again and searched through the room with his gaze, looking for his son and then beckoning him to come closer.

"I sent my son to investigate but he hasn't been able to get close to the creature." the mayor explained. His son lowered his gaze slightly. It wasn't like him to fail.

"I found the places it rests." Ryoshi added quickly, he certainly didn't want to sound like a failure to a stranger who was passing by. Another look to the so called wolf made him tilt his head a little though. "No way.." Ryo chuckled as the information hit him. "Are you serious? You call yourself a wolf?" he continued, chuckling again. Amusement spread on his whole figure.

He let out a slow and tired sigh when Ryoshi spoke, He rubbed his face, specifically the right side, slowly standing, he was taller than Ryoshi now, almost towering over him, even if he was small on average. "Ryoshi, I was given the name because I killed a beastly red wolf on my first job as a monster hunter."He stood, cloak now covering his weapons once more.

This is when the doctor of the town questioned him, "How do you know Ryoshi?"

Conri looked over to him, how did this adult not remember him? but he responded ,"I'm Conri Wildwood, Josphe Wildwoods son."He turned back to Ryoshi, not saying anything but staring him down, he soon turned and moved to the doors, speaking as he walked, back to the group."I'll find the beast and fix the problem, two weeks at most, but it won't take that long...."He pulled the large oak doors open, closing them behind himself and leaving the hall full of people in a whispered hush.

The wind outside howled like a wolf, and the glass in the windows rattled as if the howl of the wind scared them.

Ryoshi could only stare after Conri. When did that runt grow so tall?! Ryo wiped his overgrown hair away from his face still feeling slightly annoyed by the encounter. He would give the guy his two weeks. Then he might go and ask if the weakling needed help tracking the beast that barely left any footprints!

Ryo was by far the best tracker in the town. He could find anything anywhere and so far his skills hadn't let him down. They quite hadn't this time either, as he had been able to find several of the beast's lairs, but the actual kill was still on the to-do list. The brown-eyed younger Sanjo looked at his father, encouraging him to let the wolf try his luck. If he was as good as he boasted, the town would be peaceful again. If not, Ryo got his one last laugh. He remembered Conri from years back when they were still kids. The redhead was small and weak and truth to be told got bullied a lot by Ryo as well. It was such a rush when he ran home crying. Ryo didn't look back to that time with a smile on his face. While it might have been fun back then, it wasn't really the type of person he wanted to be. But even so, the thought of Conri being back in town all grown up and manly made Ryo feel like he needed to teach the runt a lesson.

Again the Sanjo Jr. brushed his dark brown hair away from his eyes. He was used to keeping it short, but had been lately busy with... another type of affairs that were easier to conduct with slightly messy and more mysterious looks. The miller's daughter had caught Ryo's attention more than the monster hunt and since there was now a new hunter in town, he'd be happy to let him take over. With confident steps he headed outside and towards the miller's house.

The Miller's daughter, Abigail was a PERFECT fair maiden, she was sweet and what every man wanted, though she was taller than Ryoshi, but everyone was taller than him. Abigail was tending to house work with her mother at this time, calling out she was going to go see father at the mill, which was right next to their house. She had her hair in two long braids, a pretty brown with bows at the ends.

She was bringing her father lunch, a warm soup to fight away the chill of the day, she was nicely bundled up, making her way over with basket in hand, and a soft smile on her face. However she screamed when she saw four vERY large wolves, just watching, she went right back into the house, terrified of the large wolves she just saw.

The wolves moved in, but not to attack, they all started to sniff, and smell around, as if they were following something, or trying to pick something up. If you had guessed these were conri's wolves you would be right, he was following along, watching where they went, he tilted his head and listened, narrowing his eyes as he did so. There was something fishy going on, he had a gut feeling, a magical gut feeling.

"BLIZZARD!" He loudly called, getting the white wolf, who was also the largest of the fours attention, Conri walked over and slowly pet the wolf, speaking in the old tongue he told Blizzard to take the pack into the forest and see what was up there.

Ryo admired the wolves from the distance. Amazing animals. He had saved a puppy few years back, nursed it back to health and then let it go. The thought still made him smile.. at least until gaze picked up Conri. Of course the wolfman had wolves with him. For a moment Ryo thought about catching up to him but decided then otherwise. The wolves seemed to head out and that's where Ryo directed his steps too. Abigail just had to wait, it wasn't anything serious anyways. The young Sanjo had found a new kind of spark of hunt.

There was no way Ryo could keep up with the pack of four wolves. He kept himself positioned downwind and followed the trail of pawprints. Conri's wolves were larger than your average howler and Ryo just had to try and see them up close. He'd climb up to the nearest tree if he found them. The forest was grey like the weather, Ryo placed his hands on his waistline just to make sure his daggers were still there. At one time a huge mountain lion had caught him unaware and attacked him from behind. It was pure luck Ryo had got away from it. He had large scars on his back as a reminder.

Suddenly it felt like the whole forest went silent. Ryo noticed the wolves' trail was leading to one of the beast's lairs he had found few days earlier. The paw prints went on but something told Ryo to stay alert now. Quietly he slid his daggers out of the casings and squeezed them tight in his hands.

Conri made it into the forest, following Ryo, since Ryo was following his wolves, he moved through the forest like he never left, getting in front of the other actually to meet his wolves, since he wanted to know what they had found. He is to the side, which is where the four wolves look, watching before running off in that direction, away from the monster's cave and to Conri.

Conri is crouching down, waiting for them to come over, he has magic, which helps him figure out what the wolves mean, nothing crazy, but concepts and other such things with animals and feelings and people. He stays quiet listening and waiting, knowing the other was going to follow the wolves since he followed them before.
