Fantasy The Principle Journey : Wrath of the North IC 2020

The arrow successfully delivered a bullseye shot to the target frame and another followed the same result. Based on the aforesaid facts, Ria's simultaneous shots landed with rapid succession and accuracy, not a single miss was found. One of the handmaidens who witnessed kept track and timed her record was in awe. "Woah! That's a fast draw of 15 seconds, Lord Ria!"

"That's not enough, Lesyritt. I aimed for the heart quickly but this won't do if your opponent moves faster than you could imagine."
Much to Ria's dismay, she downplayed her splendid performance.

Another handmaiden arrived, stern compared to Lesyritt yet had the same compassion, as Ria saw Gwendolyn, she dismissed Lesyritt. "Lord Ria is quite the perfectionist herself, Les. I do not mean to intrude your daily regime, Milady, but Lord Seles requires your presence at breakfast. It would be rude of you to dismiss such an important occasion."

Ria smirked and laughed about it. "Ha-ha-ha-ha! I'm not that dismissive, Gwendolyn. Do not worry, I'd be present." As hard headed she may be, Ria gave her an assurance.

"Do not test Lord Seles's patience, Milady. Please, not again." Gwendolyn didn't trust Ria's call considering her habitual tardiness record.

For the first time, Ria decided to adhere as Gwendolyn escorted her to the Dining Hall and parted ways.

"Why do I get the feeling that Seles has something urgent to address...

After their successful first mission, the group had returned to the Fortress with no surprises along the way. As usual, all adventurers were given a day of "mission rest " between assignments. Seles had spent hers writing the report for the Commander and responding to communique's. When not on assignment, the senior officers would normally run administrative affairs of the fortress. She did notice that the fortress had sent out many teams of late. 6 out of the 10 Caravans were out on long term missions, the 3 scout airships were constantly moving back and forth many teams to their missions, and even the Commander Flagship Defiant and the newest battlship, the Great Fox were out on anti-piracy patrols along the south shoreline.

When Seles received new request orders, she requested that the group and a new recruit assemble together for breakfast to discuss the next assignment. Their meeting was to be around 9am after she had been briefed by the Vice-Commander. As she approached the Great Dining Hall, she noticed Merin Twostone already enjoying his morning moonshine. At least he was punctual with his timing, if not consistent with his liquor. Ahead of her approaching Merin was Ria.

Ria was known as the Fortress' Songstress. Her beautiful voice was the envy of many performers, and the Guild had used her talents for non-combat requests such as Celebrity Ballroom Entertainment, Wedding Receptions and the like. Her princess like nature belies her experience in combat, and has been a perfect undercover agent for certain missions as well. Seles had briefly met her in the past when she was at the Fortress but the Commander strangely encouraged her to have Ria join her group. He mentioned to Seles privately that the young woman was an acquaintance of his former Master, and that he was asked to care for her after by his Master's comrades after he had Died.

" Good Morning Mr. Twostone. "
she said to her Dwarf comrade. " Engaged in merriment drinking already? At least save some of the good stuff for when we come back " she jeered. " I see you two have met. This is Ria. Lady Ria, this is Merin Twostone. " she said respectfully. Ria was of Noble birth but her origin was obscured to everyone except the higher ranking Officers. " We are happy to have the Songstress with us. Please have a seat. I trust everyone had a productive day yesterday?"

"Ha! I said I don't drink on missions! Last I checked this was only the preface to a mission, and so a perfectly viable time to get to drinking!" Merin rebutted happily. "And a pleasure to meet you Ms. Ria!" As he said that the small egg shaped device he was working on sputtered and flared. Merin let out a startled Yelp as it scorched his hand and caught his newspaper on fire.

He quickly beat the flames out with his thick dwarven hands. He'd had much worse burns at home, working with the forge master. Then he turned back to Ria and smiled.

"Would you like a drink? It's a silly human custom, not drinking in the morning! You just have to know how to hold your liquor! You, too, Captain. My day was perfectly productive, thank you very much."

Seles watched as Merin the Dwarf enjoyed his morning brew. It always amazed her how someone could drink in the early morning, but perhaps that was the custom of dwarfs. It also appeared as if Dwarfs were capable of handling more alcohol on average than the average human. The Captain for her part was content with strong tea and any sweet pastry in the morning, in this case a slice of a medium fruit tart that was leftover from the last nights dinner. " Anything good in the world this week?" she asked him snatching the paper from his hands after he had put out the flame that was burning it.

She sat down beside him and gazed the articles. " Let's see here, Savior Journey, Refugees... huh. " she noticed something that caught her eye. " Looks like the MAxwell War Council is putting pressure on teh Welwyn Kingdom to step up their contributions to the war. About damn time. All they've been doing is fortifying the border as of late. " she mentioned. Turning to Merin she was curious as to if any politics happened within the Dwarven circles. " How is it that the Dwarves don't war against each other? " she asked. She knew nothing of the Dwarves except that they belonged to society that had races other than humans in it.

Jellal Jellal Fred Colon Fred Colon

"Honestly? Because we don't see much of each other. We live in small communities, we live a long time and we don't have many Children. There aren't that many of us so we don't need to fight for resources like you humans do, deep in the earth."

Merin grabs a tart, wiping his grease stained fingers on a napkin first.

"Plus, a lot of Dwarven tech is farther ahead than human stuff, though youve got flying on us, I'll admit. We would destroy each other if we fought. Not a good idea in general."

Unsatisfied with one tart, he takes the plate if them, offers them to the other two one more time, and then eats any that aren't taken.

"Is anything in the paper related to our mission, Captain?"

" Wow you've got us pegged huh. "
she snickered with sarcasm. Seles understond his point of view as an outsider looking into humans as a race, but she could not deny the truth of his words. The Captain was not religious by any means, but she did discuss about such matters about the nature of humans with the Commander on occasion. As someone who has traveled the World and had lived many cultures of humanity and has retained belief in his own religion despite his annexation, the Fortress Commander Antarah Genzah did not seem like a fanatic, as some would describe.

" You better get some more for the group, I keep forgetting how much you eat. "
Seles took out some papers, which were all copies of the original Kingdom Affairs Office Request Transcript. She passed them around the table for all to have a look. The paper read as follows:

Phera had woken early this morning, just slightly before the crack of dawn. She was a little sore from her bruised ribs from the fight with the arachnid creature but a salve of a few of her crushed herbs dulled the pain enough to get her going. She spent next hour or so walking through the grounds of the fortress, making sure to learn every detail as possible. She noted down the plants that grew in the fortress. It was good soil here and she saw a few useful plants and the potential to grow more. The fortress has an area which was farmed for fruit and vegetables and she wondered if she could ask for a piece of the fields to grow her herbs.

She spend another half hour just watching the griffins sleep and being handled through their morning routines by the handler. True they were beautiful creatures, she could watch them all day. Still it was soon time for breakfast so she decided to make show and fill her belly. Arriving there not long after she noted the dwarf and the captain wih another member she hadnt seen before already there settling in. "Morning." She greeted curdly as she went directly for the provided food. She paused as she noted the smell of alcohol in the air near the dwarf. "Already drinking? I though even the dwarves weren't that bad with their drinks."She said with genuine surprise.

The day wasn't particularly too hot, all it was missing was a nice ocean breeze. The sight of the fortress slowly appeared within Kurt's sight, it was modest and it also wasn't on fire. A different sight that he wasn't used to yet. Going from a constant state of war to this... it was surreal to him. His pace quickened after a quick check of his pocket watch, he was supposed to report a hour ago. As he got closer to the fortress, the smell of morning cooking became more apparent to him. It seemed he almost missed breakfast as well and having not eaten anything in the last twenty-four hours, he could really go for some grub.

Kurt had no issues getting in the fortress as it seemed they were expecting new arrivals. Security seemed to be a bit lax, something he wasn't used to. Being away from the front made people more relaxed but Kurt remained uptight at all moments. Enemies were always present, you couldn't trust anyone. Kurt brought up a cigarette to his mouth and reached into his pocket for a lighter. As he approached the dining hall, 4 distinct voices could be heard. He grabbed his lighter and a flame came forth from it. He lit his cigarette and returned his lighter to its rightful place. He took a drag from his cig, allowing the smoke to escape his mouth. He stood there for a moment, taking a deep breath. When he was ready, he strode forward to the dining hall, taking the next step on his journey. Light footsteps could be heard from his leather boots approaching the room. It was now time to make an appearance.

Once Kurt entered the room, he was greeted by all unfamiliar faces. He took another drag from his cigarette before speaking, "Good morning ladies and....gentlemen?" He said his gaze resting on the dwarf. The way he was chowing down on tarts and drinking was anything but gentleman like. His focus returned to who he could assume was the captain of the group by her aura. He clamped his feet together and have her a quick salute, "Kurt Lange reporting for duty." He said with confidence. After saluting her, he quickly retrieved a letter from his pocket. "A letter for you." He said holding out a letter of transfer. He hoped that his sudden arrival didn't create any issues.

"Another new face, and an older one!" Merin smiled, "And I wouldn't consider it 'bad'. Unless this is stronger than the stuff we make back home, which I very much doubt, there is not much of a chance one mug will even make me tipsy!"

Merin covered up a burp, putting a fist to his mouth.

"My name's Merin Twostone, new friend!"

He turned to Phera.
"How was your rest, Phera? Care to regale the table with any adventures you experienced?" He said before putting a thick finger at the top of the paper.

"Oh. Prisoner transport." Was all Merin said, smile fading, before he passed the papers along.

" Well if it's not your cup of tea you can always go back to a hole in the ground, " she snapped snarkily. Prisoner transport was not exactly something that mercenary guilds were sent to do. Considering the severity of the crime especially, the seemed out of place for such a mission. However they were not the typical guild so Seles' curiosity into the matter faded away. More of the group seemed to trickle in for a late breakfast for this mission briefing. " Morning Phera, I hope your injury is better now. " she remarked pointing to their battle with the Antarnae a few days back. " Here is the mission statement for our Unit. " she said passing a copy of the Kingdom Affairs Office Letter to the guild.

It seemed that another new face entered the Dining Hall. A new recruit to her Unit, Kurt Lange approached them. He saluted Seles before handing his transfer papers which she took in hand. " Captain Seles Klarth. " she responded getting up to return his salute. " Transfer papers, yes? " she asked curiously. Apart from the Songtress she was not aware of anyone else joining. The transfer was to help with the absence of some of her previous recruits who were no longer available. The letter had a signature from his previous Captain and Lieutenant Donar. " Everything seems to be in order Mr. Lange. Please have a seat, and a copy of our mission. "

" This mission briefing won't take too long. It's pretty straightforward from the looks of it. We only need to go over assignments and travel aspects. "
she announced addressing the group. Turning towards the two newest members. " Ria, Mr Lange. Perhaps before we start you would like to tell us a little about yourself to the group? " she asked them.

Kirva
DINING HALL

After spending the previous night chaotically going through bars, fighting, and bar fights, Kirva's morning was not very pleasant. A bit of a hangover here, accompanied by the pain of some bruises there and whatever wounds were left from the previous mission she had just returned from. But that will have to change, forcibly - a day with a bad start will end up badly, and Kirva definitely doesn't look forward to having such.

Hence, with a sip from an almost empty bottle, a breath of freshening sprays, and a steady but quick morning routine, Kirva was off to the arranged meeting point. Breakfast was supposed to be the agreed time, and judging merely by the colors of the sky - breakfast was already over. Still, all should be good as long as she gets there before the party leaves without her. Surely, the Captain will bear with her antics once more this time.

And just like that, Kirva hurriedly crashes in - almost making contact with the table. A few chairs were unfortunately tragically caught in her trail. Steadying her stature and casually saluting with her right hand, she announced her arrival.

"Yo, Captain.", a confident smirk on her face. Then, a quick glance to both familiar and unfamiliar faces. "Anybody miss me while I was gone?"

Ria gazed back at Merin the Dwarf with a smile. It's not the first time she saw one but for someone like her attuned to the Ice Arte, she couldn't help but remain silent about her initial impressions. Nothing really interested Ria except the letter that Captain Seles showed, all the while keeping a poker face.

Socializing with people would have been easier for Ria but the pain itching on her scarred torso gives her unpleasant memories. Had Seles not be present, Ria would have blatantly ignored everyone yet with extreme caution, ultimately, Seles got her to talk, especially with new faces popping after another. Ria sets aside her personal turmoil for this formal encounter.

Introduction came to shove, Ria recalled every reminder Seles hammered into her child like mind to not be too revealing. This also reminded her the time that a Selkirk girl, named Natalia, treated her with racism, because of her lineage but moving forward, it's been a while that Ria casually talked to people.

"My name is Ria... Ts-" Not really allowed to reveal her surname almost made Ria panic because surnames are special, she couldn't help but awkwardly look at Captain Seles with a childish expression. She almost revealed her true surname and feared that she'd get reprimanded. (probably later)

Immediately she breathed and released her sigh. "... Klarth! "

Her eyes closed a bit out of being embarrassed, she twirled her hair afterwards, still looking at Seles. Then she coughs up a bit to stay formal regardless of her awkward facial expressions.

"Ria Klarth, everyone. Not that I'm blood related to the Captain but it's good to know that a small world like this directs you to know another Klarth haha, maybe we're related, right Captain?" Ria screamed internally in her mind for making such error.

"I'm 17-years old and I'd be 18 by Finallar 25th. My specialties are singing, Ice Arte, hunting, knifeplay and archery. I have a short attention span not because I'm a "kid" but I'd be blunt, as long as it's none of my business I won't bother but if I'd help with utmost respect. I'm extremely delighted to see the Fortress filled with people, really surprised because there aren't much before! " She stopped twirling her hair.

" I think I'd get along with Prince Merin here, I wish the best for our teamwork everyone!" She latches on to Merin and hide behind his back, fearing whatever Seles is probably thinking, unless she's unfazed by her eccentricity.

A girl burst into the room, obviously more late than him. Kurt looked over her appearance, she looked rather unprofessional, she couldn't hold her alcohol as well as the dwarf it seemed. This caused him to laugh a bit, unsuccessfully being able to suppress it. He took a seat at the table, taking a seat opposite of the dwarf. He put his feet up on the table and leaned back in the chair. He nonchalantly took another drag of his cigarette and released a stream of smoke into the air before responding to his new captain. "Of course." Kurt responded sitting up in his chair in a more professional demeanor. He didn't exactly want to delve into his past, after all, he knows none the people here but he'd at least tell them something as requested by the captain.

"I'm Kurt Lange for those of you still getting over your hangover. Before coming here, I was a mercenary for about two years, I was a sharpshooter in a scout regiment. Wasn't exactly a clean line of work so I left. Now I'm here ready to do the biding of our captain." He said raising the cigarette to his lips. He took a long drag, letting the smoke escape his mouth before proceeding, "The amount of professionalism exemplified by some individuals here is quite astounding and I aspire to reach that level of professionalism." Kurt said giving off a small laugh, a grin growing on his face. He quickly turned his attention to the mission paper giving it a good read. He took a quick puff his cigarette, finally reaching the end of it. He grabbed a metal case in pocket where he put his cigarette stubs. It was rude to leave a bunch of stubs around. He put the stub inside and as he put the metal case away, retrieved another cigarette. He swiftly lit it, letting out a stream of smoke as a result.

After thoroughly reading it, Kurt chimed in about it,
"This guy is lucky he wasn't in my regiment. They would have shot him on the spot. Would have saved us some time." His lack of regard of rules showed sometimes, what did you expect from a former mercenary. He could be cruel at times but they lived in a cruel world. War wasn't as pretty as it was depicted when they were younger. He put down the mission paper, glancing around at the people gathered around the table. Kurt studied each and everyone one of their faces, he was a very attentive individual.

Phera frowned when Merin draw more attention to her and encouraged chit chat. She was in no mood to talk about herself, especially as it is likely to draw more questions about her past. Something she disliked talking about. However, to her relief more new people entered, and they and the new mission seemed to draw attention from her. As introduction were made she moved and picked up some fruit and a mug of milk before moving to seat near the group that had formed, enough to listen in to the conversations but not enough to be considered part of it.

Hearing Ria's introduction she raised an eyebrow at the name or more the pause that came to the reveal of the surname. Klarth seriously? She thought. Ria had the look of nobility in her and they were very particular about their last man, none will risk sharing with another if not by marriage. The truth was not told and she was more intrigued than concerned by it. What surprised her though was more was her age. "Come now. I am surprised we take them this young." She finally commented out loud, said as more as loud voicing of though than joining in.

The introduction of Kurt was less interesting, he seemed professional if a little too happy go lucky for her taste. She felt indifferent to him as her main issue was if he was going to be a good fighter and he seemed he will be. "Can i have look at that?" She asked indicating the note with the mission statement. "I haven't seen that yet."

As things became more lively, Kirva had shown up in a rather rushed fashion, perhaps noticing it was well passed the hour they were supposed to congregate. " Kirva, this may not be the military, but could we still show up within the specified times please. " she said getting up. " let's straighten these out. Oh before I forget, here you go " Seles handed the young woman a copy of the mission. At this time the songstress was introducing herself to everyone. Unfortunately for Seles used her Surname as RIa's trying not to confuse the two. The quiet and discreet Phera had protested Ria's age in front of everyone. Seles agreed about her age, and although that was actually the age requirement, there was more to Ria's presence in the fortress.

The Captain was certain by Ria's slight slip of the tongue, and the fact she used her surname, that people would be suspicious about her. If someone did inquire further and with Ria's permission she would let the group know, but for now it was on a need to know basis. " Thank you Ria, Thank you Mr. Lange. I'm looking forward to working with you both, and with this group. All right! " she yelled, calling everyone's attention. " By now you all had a quick glance at our mission. Prisoner Transfer. We're no strangers to escort duty, but this is a special case. We're dealing with a murderer in multiple accounts on the continent. Assignments like these may look simple but if something goes wrong, it's not a simple slap on the wrist or no pay. These jobs have a crap ton of politics behind them, not my favorite kind, but you've all proven yourselves valuable to this Mercenary guild and Commander is asking the best people for this job. "

" Now, any questions or concerns? "

Soft Timeskip in Effect

Captain Seles and her fellow mercenaries boarded the Wings of Inverness, a scout airship that was bound for Maxwell in order to rendezvous with another guild team that had finished a mission in the sherbrooke forest. They were fortunate that they could catch a ride with the crew otherwise it would have delayed their mission by about a day if they would have to catch a train into the Kingdom of Maxwell. Although the airship would not be able to drop the team off directly at the site, as it was in the opposite direction, they could bring everyone close enough so that a short walk would be all it needed to get to the outpost.

Over the western horizon, the clouds were accumulating, maybe to bring some more rain to the region, but for now, the cool breeze under a sky with few clouds was a comfortable way to travel. The aree they traveled over were lowland plains not many mountains in the area so stormy weather often passed through here and out of the way within a few hours. While there were few clouds, they were not alone in their travel. At this time, a solitary WINGED DRAKE approached the lower port side area near the airship as it traveled. It did not make any contact, but wild Drakes were known to vicious and powerful beasts. They were in their element in the skies. Hopefully it would cause no problem.

Kurt happened to be on the deck when he caught sight of the Winged Drake. With his Eagle Eye ability, he was able to see the drake approaching from quite a far distance. His eyes shifted from red to it's usual shade of brown. He retrieved his lighter and a cigarette from his pocket, this would be his third one within a hour. A small flame appeared from the lighter and lit the cigarette swiftly, putting away the lighter. He took a long draw from it and let out a stream of smoke into the sky. His demeanor remained calm, not very worried about the creature. He figured we'd been fine as long as we didn't provoke it. He wasn't one for pointless violence, well.... not anymore. His eyes never left the creature, animals were animals, it was best to stay on edge. The Winged Drake was quite an interesting creature to look at and having only seen a few of them in his lifetime, his interest in them still hasn't dwindled quite yet.

While he was standing there admiring the creature, he started to think about the mission ahead. "I fucking hate bureaucracy, if I had my way, we wouldn't have a prisoner to transport." He said thinking out loud. He didn't like the mission, he wouldn't say it infront of the captain though, he had enough decency not to do that. He had to deal with the cards dealt just like everybody else. He knew he wasn't the only one not very fond about the mission. He took another drag and then let the smoke out of his mouth. At least this view is stunning, I may never get a chance to see something so beautiful again. His eyes briefly left the animal to the terrain below. It was a great sight to but seeing it made him long to be back home again. Nothing could replace the smell of the sea and the bustling streets of Victoria. He shook the thoughts away and continued to focus on the animal, he didn't need to get all reminiscent.

" All right everyone, stay awake if possible, the landing area is coming up quick. Get ready to move out." The Airship Captain announced from atop the bridge area. Seles Meanwhile opened the door leading onto the outer deck and walked on with a few others. She had just concluded a brief inventory check to make sure the team had everything they would need for their transport assignment. " What are you looking at Mr. Lange? " Seles asked him as she approached the railings. She leaned over the railings and got a good look at a lone wild Winged Drake hovering just below their port rear. A lone Drake usually meant a Male of the species. Drakes were a little disconcerting even for the most seasoned of flyers. " That could spell a bad fate for the ship. In any case alert the Captain if gets any closer than that. " She imagined the crew did not want to have to deal with a Drake mid-flight and her unit did not wish to get dragged into more than they signed up for.

Seles looked at Kurt and tilted her head in concern. She could not tell if the look was pensive or pissed. " Looks like you got something on your mind Mister? Care to share? " she asked.

Kurt glanced to the side at the sound of approaching footsteps, the captain was approaching him. Luckily, his comments were said before her arrival. Her assessment about the Drake were true and her assessment seemed to mirror his, wanting to avoid a fight as much as possible. It wouldn't be an exactly great way to start your journey. He brought his cigarette up to his lips listening to her question. He took a drag and let out the smoke before responding to the captain, "It's nothing important, just some last minute jitters." He lied, keeping his eyes on the beast. He wasn't really comfortable opening up with someone he didn't know that the well, for now at least.

He turned to her trying to put a more cheerful look on his face, "I presume everything is going well with the others, hopefully everybody is sober." He said with a small grin on his face. From what he's seen, there are a few individuals in this group that like to drink, especially the dwarf.

" Jitters huh? " Seles was shocked he would be so open about his feelings. " I'm surprised you of all people would say that. According to your record, you are possibly the most well suited for mercenary work among our group. " she explained. The Captain noticed that Kurt would only give information when asked and only very vaguely. As opposed to someone like Merin Twostone with his boundless joviality or someone reserved and mysterious like Phera Pentacost, her newest recruit was a practiced concealer of himself.

" I hear ya." Seles responded about Kurt's concerns. " Not to worry though. Sober or not, they get results. I don't presume to know much about other races, like dwarves culture, but just based on my observation, it doesn't take a lot for them to become uninhibited, but it take a lot more to render them drunk. " The Dwarves could easily relax with a single drink, however it took a lot more alcohol than any human could ingest to render them intoxicated. The young woman took this opportunity to press her luck to continue engaging the mercenary's point of view. " Are you the kind of person that is concerned about process more than the result? Phera attempted to spend more time in the bridge this time around, knowing that despite the engine being interesting there was plenty to see among the clouds. She used flat part of one of the panels and such to prepare some of her herbal mixture just in case there was any healing needed though she expected little to happen during the journey. Things seemed mostly silent not much to see out there but cloud and the odd bird. Quite disappointing especially as things in the bridge were particularly subdued initially. True she was the silent and private type but that mean she did not like hearing conversations around her.

Things changed though when the Drake appeared nearby, the sight of which seemed to stir everyone to watch. Phera stood to watch that magnificent creature, tracking it as it flew as best as she could. "Magnificent. "She seemed to say almost to herself. She heard the conversation going on with the captain and Kurst smirking at the comment about him jittery and the dwarven pass time of drinking. In truth she was as well, she was still new to being mercenary more so working with other. She was a lone wolf, the few assignments she had for the elders were done by herself with total control. "Really i though sober was the usual state for dwarves not being drunk. "She gave her comment while still trying to keep track of the drake. "I cant believe some people tried to ride these things... That they were even able to ride something like that. At the same time want and don't want to do it."

Brynjar "Kyrre" Nyborg
Brynjar propped himself against the airship's railing. The airship captain advised to stay awake because they were nearing their destination, except... That would be hard for the Storm Warden. Usually, he has no trouble staying awake but he has pushed himself too far this time. At any moment, he feels as though he could collapse into sleep's warm embrace. "A sleep deprived soldier is a liability" he murmurs. A small part of him wishes to strip himself of human needs, no hunger, no exhaustion and especially no SLEEP. Brynjar sighed as he stared into the clear sky. Even if one eye could only perceive blobs, the sky still seemed quaint, so peaceful...

"Huh!?" He jolted his head up, eyes shot open. It seems that Brynjar had unwittingly started sleeping."I should tell the Captain."

Brynjar pushed himself off the railing then began walking across the deck. His armor tightly fastened to his body. After Brynjar made it halfway to where Captain Seles was, a drake caught the crew's attention. The Storm Warden admired the drake's power, a model to warriors and soldiers everywhere. A small smile stretched across his face then turned back towards his path.

When Brynjar reached Seles, he found she had been conversing with Lange. He didn't want to be rude so he decided to quick with things."Captain, I'm gonna be in the barracks. Figured I should tell you, in case anyone needed me."

When Brynjar reported that he would be spending the little time they had left on the airship in the barracks, it drew concern from his commanding officer. Seles noticed that his voice was not very energetic, not a voice or boredom but that of weariness. " Sure thing. You got 20 minutes." she said to him. " Don't think I'm going soft just cause I let you sleep a little and Mr. Twostone drink a little. " she remarked in front of Kurt. She did not want to lose any face in front of the new recruit allowing all these mercenaries to do as they pleased. " I owe him, he saved me on our last mission. " the Captain explained to Kurt recalling the battle with the large Antarnae.

Seles had completely forgotten about the MILLIVOX's she was entrusted to by the Fortress Commander Antarah Genzah. The millivox was a special item that served the purpose of long range communication. This sort of magitech was not readily available to many, and in fact could only be procured in the North by the Norhad Swords Commander. " Mr. Lange could you do me a favor and pass one of these to Phera Pentacost over there? " Seles had in both hands, the prepared millivox's for her team. There was 2 or each type of necklace, bracelet, ring, earing or armband. The Captain had already taken an earing for herself. " It's an item that the commander entrusted to our Unit. I'll explain it's use once everyone has one. You can choose from whichever you want."

Merin was lurking around the engine rooms on the ship, making a general nuisance of himself. He wanted to understand how these things worked, and while the people in charge wouldn't let him fiddle with anything, he sat in one of the corners and plied them with questions.

It wasnt so radically different than Dwarven technology, he thought the elevators that the dwarves sometimes used worked off a similar-ish property, but he had never been allowed to mess with those either. This was fair, in Merins eyes as the things he worked with tended to explode. But that's how you learned, Merin thought, by scorching your eyebrows off. Figuring out what not to do was just the first step in learning what TO do.

He wondered how much time they had till they landed. Figuring out these engines enough to help with them, especially since he was restricted to asking questions of annoyed crew members, was going to take a while. It was defenitly not something he'd be able to figure out this trip, but he wanted as much time with them as he could have anyway.

Kurt thought about Seles's question for a few moments before attempting to respond, "For me the resul-" He said being caught off by one of his fellow acquaintances who gave her own piece of mind about the Drakes. He could finish the conversation later when the time seemed right. Kurt simply acknowledged her comment with a nod of agreement. One rather tired looking man approached them and told them he would be in the barracks. Kurt raised an eyebrow at the man, looking him up and down. That man didn't need a nap, he needed a good night of sleep. He could tell that the captain tried to be authoritative, Kurt wasn't an easy person to impress. He didn't mind that operations seemed to be a bit more lax around here, as long as people got serious when it came to business.

When he heard that he had saved her life, Kurt lifted his eyebrow again, "It's kinda hard for me to imagine that after seeing what condition he was in." Kurt said shifting his gaze away from Brynjar back to Seles. He watched her pull out an item that he was quite unfamiliar with. After studying the items, he grabbed an armband for himself and a necklace for Phera. He moved over to where Phera was, "Here you go." He said handing her the necklace. He didn't know if that was what she wanted but he didn't care as long as it serves its purpose. He put the armband around his left arm, he didn't want it to hamper his dominant arm.
