Fantasy The Breathtaking World Of Acheron (Interest Check)

I am SO sorry for the wait guys! Reality kinda hit like a tonne of bricks, me and Maven are almost done with the specifics of each nation, then we'll have the thread up! Again, really sorry about the lengthy wait on this!

Any chance this had started and I haven't seen the actual thread?
We are running into a difficult area. We are trying to write descriptions of each of the four continents so that when you all make characters you have some idea of where you can make them start and what the area is generally like. Unfortunately this is difficult and arduous given the races and the diversity we like to have.

@StoneyJr -- More like Continents. We are only going into detail about a few nations, most will be left to you all's interpretations.

Colour me interested. I'll be watching at first. If it seems like it's here to stay, you'll have yourself another participant! I enjoy open-ended simulation-life RPs. Needs to be more of 'em.

Wonderful :) We love people and the more interested the better!

If you have anything specific you would like to see or questions you wish to ask then please do so!

Will my character really be able to do anything from fight creatures to family raising?

Well so long as you provide nice detailed posts about such things then I as a GM see no reason why they couldn't. Just make sure you move from meeting someone, to courting them, to falling in love, marriage if the culture has such a thing, and then some time before kids... but yes you could.

So you're going for an open-ended, Second Life sort of thing here? I wonder how you're going to pull this off. Like I said, I'm very interested in this. It's not often you find a GM who WANTS to do something so ambitious. I gotta give you some points for your motivation. I'll stop talking now. I'm just eager.

What about a summon class? Will there be dual-class specialisation? How do our characters become chefs or politicians?

EDIT: I read that you're currently accepting new races. I'll send you my ideas tomorrow when I wake up and have breakfast. Any answers you could give for my questions will be appreciated.

Okay as for summon class we hadn't really considered that. Mesmer would be summoning things as would necromancy, and elementalist all depending on what they are summoning though. Clearly an Elementalist could summon elementals varying in levels, strengths and what not. However as for a purely Summoning Class if you could be specific we would definitely consider such things.

Clarify by what you mean when you say dual-class specialization please. If you mean like an Elementalist who is also say a Ranger of Warrior... we would prefer that people not do that... it would lead to some really over powered situations.

Now in terms of getting jobs and professions depending on the history you give your character depends on your abilities which through the RP will get more honed and better. In terms of GETTING the job you would role play out the situation with a GM who would assume maybe a would be employer or the King/ President/ Dictator of whatever country you are in who has taken a keen interest in your rising popularity or value and has decided to grant or encourage you to take a place in the government.

By summoning class, I mean just that. Summoning creatures, maybe the spirits of fallen warriors. Forgive me, I'm trying to take my concept of summoning from something I've created and explain it to you. It's not working too well, is it?

Elementals get elemental beings for summons. I know the Necromancer would get the summon skeletons and worms and stuff. What would the Mezmer get to summon? Since we get two characters to start out with, I was going to have one Engineer and one Summoner-type.

In terms of getting jobs, I can go with that. With the right GMs, a traditional form RP/G can be truly amazing. It becomes a game, almost.

Summoning class would fit well with a Mesmer, they have illusion magics and can summon spirits of defeated foes they have captured in a crystal like thing or summon defeated allies. Of course if they wanted to get all dark and mean they would just trap the souls of the dying in the crystals and use their souls in more powerful spells. Don't worry about the explanation you are trying to give, it is working rather well it is just hard to conceptualize because Elementalist, Mesmer and Necromancy all have the ability to summon things.

Now onto Characters, while you can have two we have to be sure that everyone who does have two would be good and able to do so. Part of the Application will be a sample that the person will need to write, if you apply for two characters then two samples will be required so as to ensure that people can handle such things.

The Mesmer can do that?! Wow. You guys are trying to make me join this, aren't you? All three classes interest me. We'll see where I end up as far as those classes are concerned.

I see. I'm not super-skilled when it comes to RP so be warned. I can't make every post a novella.

Yeah the Mesmer is pretty great, but if enemies get in close their light armor and lacking abilities for close attacks make them pretty vulnerable.

In terms of length, three lines would be preferable, though more is welcome. Again we are really looking for quality over quantity so a short story isn't necessary.

I'm interested and will be watching.
We are now one continent away from having a good rough outline of each continent. Once this is done and compiled we will be making the Character Creation thread.

Hello there friends! I am so very sorry for the wait, BUT, the wait is almost over! Today we should be making up the character creation thread, and it will be posted up here when it's done!

I hope to see many, if not all of you there! :)

The Thread is up. Please now go make characters. Put any questions in the OOC tab to keep chatter in the other tabs to a minimum. Thanks everyone!
