  Explosion at California Lab Killed Scientist that Cured CancerCALIFORNIA – Has been rocked by the explosion at the Remedium Lab. The loss of the beloved Dr. Humboldt, who cured cancer last year has shaken the core of the Frenso community. Just before 10 a.m. a mix of experimental biological chemicals had an adverse reaction, killing Dr. Humboldt and countless animal life. Black smoke spiraled over Fresno, darkening the city.
  
  “The explosion emitted a lot of smoke, making it look worse than it was,” said Michal Adams, a research assistant.
  
  About 80 firefighters were on site until the fire was extinguished. Casualties include Dr. Humboldt and the animals he was experimenting on.
  
  Several animals escaped during the explosion and efforts are being made to capture them.
  Science Lab Creatures Discovered Hundreds of Miles from LabOREGON – Discovered a biologically altered species of primate. The animal was discovered near the California border by two hikers. Efforts are being made to capture the primate.
  
  California Lab Illegally ExperimentedSeveral genetically altered animals have been discovered since the California lab explosion in May. These animals are carriers of the Alium gene, which alters the genetic makeup life. Alium is highly contagious and transferable to humans.

  A lab experiment gone wrong, at least that’s what we're told. The “newspaper” holds some of the last information from the past, without it the world before could cease to remain in the memories of humanity.
  
  Civilization continues, but it doesn’t look anything like it used to. Since the explosion, the animals carrying the Alium gene have infected the US. It didn’t take long before the world was infected and altered. Humans, animals, and plants were modified. Enhanced. New growth impacted some of the population. Many humans and animals did not survive, they were unable to withstand the physical pain of the change.
  
  Some were immune. This population is nearly nonexistent and often hunted for their blood.
  
  Those that survived the changes look different. Their eyes changed, skin colour altered, personality, hair, and so many various aspects about them no longer held the “true” appearance of a human. They have become the Altered Beings.
  
  This story will take place a few years after the explosion and suspected "end" of the world.

  Six Roles are Available and only two can be Immune (Immune characters are not required).
  
  Altered Beings typically possess one type of adaptation. For example, if a Altered Being has gills, then their modification are all aquatic related. If another can fly, then they will possess many features that birds do/did. All Altered Beings are physically stronger than any Immune and all can move about on land.
