The cain groaned and screamed as she struggled in the bindings. Everything was red. The fires, why won't they go away no matter where she looked, the screams in her head as if knives were being twisted in her ears caused her to slam her head agaisnt the floor, blood leaking from her now broken nose as her eyes were that of someone only seeking death. Why did she have to be cain, why did these heroes have to enter the house, the house wanted them gone, why wouldnt they leave, everything hurt, the pain was their fault, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" she screamed, the pain was too much to process whatever the woman was saying to her, "Im sorry im sorry im sorry im sorry im sorry please ill make them leave im sorry! theyll leave theyll leave just make it stop im sorry! please please please please STOP IT!" she was incoherent as her mind was breaking from the pain. All that could come out of her mouth in this state were screams of pain and mad ramblings of apologies to some unknown entity causing it, her eyes were bloodshot as her soul looked like it was being stretched and pulled just to its limit before it would be ripped apart, and agony inducing torture that could not be solved with any healing to the body itself.

Glass

Full of gripes, this one. She seemed to have some strong thoughts on her choice of method to tie the girl up, but frankly it seemed like the best option at the time; BDSM communities used such binds because while they may not be comfortable necessarily, they were effective and not painful. Honestly, Glass kinda missed part of what she was saying, too. She responded to what she remembered. "I used it because it works, Alexandria. But she is correct. If you were seen, it was only a brief glimpse. You could possibly walk away scot-free," she said as she released the binds slowly, only one at a time as she was properly restrained with cuffs.

The lack of attention was clear, but she was obviously taking the situation seriously. She had to figure out what was up with this location. She didn't have a decent bag or anything to carry stuff with... but she could sort it out in a minute. She needed to study this place. The trouble was, she couldn't guarantee her access. So the best option, then, was to take the place with her. The house itself never responded, so maybe it was some kind of master of the place instead of the place itself.

Grabbing something off the walls, a mirror with a cover on it, she hurried over to the door. "Hey! Elementa! Can you keep anyone from taking anything I bring out?" She asked. Getting a thumbs-up affirmative, Glass proceeded to grab all the items that she'd reasonably be able to fit in a large truck while keeping them separate. This was between forty and fifty items of varying types and sizes, as well as the shelves they sat on to begin with. But arguably more valuable than all those artifacts... were some books. Books written by one "Cain". But there were a great many of them, and a glance seemed to indicate different personalities, patterns, and interest levels behind the writers. They were entirely non-magical, too... could it be that Cain was a title...? Well, they'd learn from the young woman and the man, should he live.

Axiom wasted no time when he say the wall of the building weakening. He quickly places his back against and steadily pushes against it that way to keep from falling down. The weight of the wall was an issue for the armored giant but rather he hoped that the wall could last long enough for Orpheus to handle Spear and long enough for any other civilians to get out. "I just need to be sure to mind how much pressure I apply to the wall or else or I'll fall through it all together and the last thing I need to happen is for people to loose their lives over my mistakes.... If I can't support the wall any further, I need to support the building by the center once it crumbles. No, not crumble. Fall. Given the structure of the building, it wont fall apart without the walls, rather it'll drop once it does, which is manageable for me." The turbines in the arms of his suit rev up and began to inhaling the flames at a slow rate. "With how much fire there was, it might take a moment to diminish the flames but whatever it took to lessen the damage. I'll do my part as long as I can, mister. I do hope you can stop that man and be in one piece...I'd hate for your son to be without his father..."

Rygilya

Rygilya woke to the sound of birds chirping. He’d set his alarm to sound like birds singing. The sound both annoyed and soothed him. It reminded it of his mother. She always did like birds.

Phantom slid out of bed wearing only briefs. He went into the bathroom and prepared for the day. After showering and grooming, Rygilya got dressed in a new black suit made out of fine linen. The clothing felt good on his skin.

He looked around his home. It was spacious. A big tv hung on the wall in the living room. A brown couch sat in the center. Expensive paintings sat on the walls. He lived well in his penthouse. Rygilya smiled to himself. He wasn't starving anymore.

Ever since joining Talon, he was well fed. No more was Rygilya needy. Now he ran the gang. He’d made a name for himself. He made a better life.

He walked out of his door to find his bodyguard waiting for him.

“Good morning boss,” said Xix.

“Morning,” Rygilya responded with a nod. Xix was one of his most trusted men ever since he risked his life to get Rygilya away from a rival gang that had gotten the drop on them.

The two men exited the building owned by Rygilya. They entered a limousine. Xix drove while Rygilya sat in the back seat. He enjoyed the ride.

Thirty minutes later they came to a warehouse. The warehouse was empty save for a few crates that were filled with illegal weapons, a few Talon members, and a man tied to a chair.

“You're the one who's been stealing money from us, huh,” Rygilya spoke as he approached the man. He stopped in front of him and peered. “Why?”

“M-my daughter i-is dying. I needed the funds to-” He said.

Rygilya punched him in the face. “If that was the case why didn't you just ask for the money?”

“Because I was afraid. Y-you've already done so much for us.”

“So you thought stealing from us would be better?” Rygilya hit him again. Blood painted his knuckles.

Rygilya hit him twice more. He prepared for a third strike when Xix caught his arm. “Boss let someone else handle this. You don't want to get blood on the new suit do you?”

“You're right,” Rygilya said. He took the cloth from Xix and wiped the blood from his knuckles. He spoke to one of his underlings. “You. Take over. Don't kill him. We may need him one day.”

Rygilya then spoke to the man in the chair. “I’ll send you money for your daughter but if you cross us again you’re dead.”

With that Rygilya left the scene. An hour later, Rygilya sat in his favorite breakfast spot. An IHOP. He was currently wolfing down pancakes.

"Xix," Rygilya began once he was done. "I've been thinking about expanding our ranks with some of the most notorious criminals ever to walk the earth. What do you think?"

Xix shrugged. "What I think doesn't matter. I'll follow your decision whatever it may be."

Rygilya smiled. "Good answer."

Alexandria Norman
AKA Machina
Location: The House that she suddenly wanted to commit arson in

1646794392297.png
If it was the literal only thing that Alexandria could be thankful for while the new "Cain" was slamming her face into the floor, it was that Mantis was back, with her only required indication of this being the thud of the armor landing outside. Of course, no one was going to miss the fact that it was now lumbering into the shop to turn its back to Alexandria and open itself, but that was just a detail no one else was going to miss. She was all too happy to clamber back into the safety of her mechanical shell and link with the systems before turning back to the girl and deciding that right now, she could take some.... "Heroic Liberties."

Machina turned back to the girl and, with care, began to maneuver cuffs around the wrists and ankles of the new Cain, who was - as far as she could tell, doing literally anything she possibly could to stop whatever pain this place was inflicting on her before grabbing the earthen bindings that held the girl in restraint with one hand and crushing the material. Mantis's gauntlets crumbled it into powder while its other hand kept the girl braced so she couldn't simply run away. After all, if she attempted to flee, who knew just what else could happen to the unfortunate soul that got caught up in the middle of all this? The last Cain was tasered to death - no thanks to her being too slow to warn Elementa, and she was sure she was going to hear about that little tidbit from some influential media personality or another at some point, and this one was trying to bludgeon herself to death using the floor. All in all, the entirety of today absolutely sucked and she was no particular fan of it. There was no clear bad guy to just bag and send off to County, and there was magick of some sort involved, meaning the problems were just going to stockpile themselves until it made her want to rip out her hair.

Then there was Glass... who was bound and determined to cause some sort of next-level anguish or another not only for the Cain, but undoubtedly herself as well.

"H-hey!" Machina stammered to Glass as she hefted the girl and began escorting her out. "The hell do you think you're doing?! This place is chock full of evidence that you're tossing out of a crime scene! Just keep the door wedged open, dammit!

"Well, thinking about it," she continued, switching trains of thought. "It's not only evidence, but obviously you pilfering a bunch of stuff is going to piss this place off more, and that's going to cause more problems for this one here."

It was obvious with her continued stance with what was going on that she wasn't allowing herself to slip back into the mindset of dealing with a criminal. They had a victim of some sort of magickal compulsion, and there was at least some semblance of a procedure for this since they couldn't deal with it in the field. They'd have to call in Heroes who were adept at dealing with these sorts of cases that were a third party to the crime scene - preferably some sect of Mages that were skilled with dealing with curses or... Whatever the hell was going on with the girl she kept at arm's length so she couldn't bash her head off her plating.

"Whatever we do, we need to leave now," She said to the woman busying herself with the questionable legality of what was basically large-scale shoplifting.... Or... wait, was it??? "Obviously all of us being here is making her incapable of cooperating and she needs treatment for her nose and probably some gnarly concussions. Keep the door wedged open and we can let someone else safely investigate this venue. Let's go, Glass.

"Besides, we can use your weird magick thing to track down where this place is if it jumps around like some annoying magickal bunny-rabbit-gate-to-kookyville-creepy-mind-control-magick or whatever... That and it's already going to look like I beat the shit out of a college girl, and I'd like to make sure I don't end up with a not-so-helpful paparazzi headache any bigger than I'm about to get."

Vice raised a brow at how excited he looked at giving Hignar a 'chewtoy'. He had a sadistic side. Noted.

"Well before anything I need to fix the mess that is Sophia," she sighed, motioning to the crumpled doll in the corner, "So... just give me a moment." Vice gathered up the body parts and made them float in the air in front of her, "I know you don't want to give me orders, but I'd like you to 'order' me to make her body. Doesn't even need to be super specific. Just telling me to do it. It'll boost my efficiency and capabilities since it's an order from the master and... oh I don't need to explain that to you of all people."

Either way, she started gathering the body parts and stitching them together with flesh until a naked woman stood in front of the two. If he "ordered" her, it went faster, but if he didn't, she still diligently worked until she was done. The next step was clothing her, which Vice outfitted the body with her own preference - professional attire. Damn this body ended up cute! She was so proud of herself!

Vice clapped once, looking satisfied, "There." She looked a little tired now, having rushed something that should have taken another week ideally. And she wasn't willing to cut corners. She wanted this body to LAST, damn it! Her doll sucked! This one. This was a beautiful creation! It had many features!

"Sophia! Come inhabit this please! And you can let yourself stretch out in it. It should be able to handle even Nyar or friends! Just be aware I made it have human sensations for you, so it might be a little overwhelming. You seemed really keen on humans, so I figured you'd like it. And this body is warm, too! Not cold and creepy. It shouldn't crack either!" she called out, smiling wide, "Oh... I really hope you and James like it..."

Isla couldn't help the soft sigh of relief as she nuzzled almost thankfully into Overwatch before she finally pulled away. Yes indeed it was easy but there could be a feeling in the air that the frail girl was stronger than seemed. still she simply stared and smiled at the girl in red as she swung the bow back and forth unknowing of what to do. It couldn't help but bring a creepily innocent giggle from her at Overwatch before she finally spoke. "You can lower the bow my red flower no harm will befall you. Besides what host would I be if I harmed my freer?" She said happily and stepped over to overwatch with a smile. Reaching up she gently reached up and touched the tip of the woman's arrow with her pointer finger before smiling more at her. Then she remembered the ever more alive castle behind Overwatch and smiled. "Fret not about them as well. They are just as happy as I am about you opening my book! now come come! quick come say hi!" She said growing almost childish as she jumped in a full circle in front of Overwatch before skipping around Overwatch and starting off in her giddy skip down the ruined bridge towards the castle as the background started to fill with what was almost like chanting. hollering and cries of joy from the castle as whoever was inside were many and filled with vigor, a horde even many would say just by the endless cries. Though at the same time they sounded, labored, raspy, decayed...... Dead. All the same though the pale girl continued her gleeful skip down the bridge. Stopping about 50 feet and turning on her bare heel to face Overwatch once more. Waving her hand up in the air childishly as one more insist that Overwatch came with

Carinthia couldn’t help but freeze in that moment her big red eyes frozen open as they stared down to her former master. The look now doubt was one of a death glare. A gaze that called for blood and death but in all reality that was just due to the way Carinthia looked. Her next actions completely contradicted the gaze or what her master thought as she ignored the third party here and grabbed Arenike. Her arms wrapping around the girls head and pulling her in tight to Carinthias chest a shaky breath escaped her lips as she hugged the smaller woman her head leaning down to muzzle the top of Arenike’s head as she finally responded.

“You’ve finally come back to me master.” She said almost in a teary eyed glee to her master as she hugged her still. It was probably only then Arenike could truly realize how much her former weak foot stool had changed. Her soft and thin weak physique had turned to hard and thick muscle. Her grip gentle yet firm as the hardest bedrock around the small girl. And even with her stature the old Carinthia had stayed true as she let go after a moment and fell to her knees at Arenike’s feet her head falling forward and finding its way to the earth as she bowed as deep as can be at her masters feet, with her forehead gently resting right at Arenike’s toes. “I’ve waited so long for you to return master. E-everyone else gave up on you. Abandoned your rule! B-but not me master! I’ve awaited your return! And now you’ve finally come back to me!” She said happily into the ground as she followed the old customs of her position with her master.

Adon simply blinked into existence beside Natalie with a flash of white light. Tracy and Darren blinked the light clear from their eyes, and Tracy groaned, "Did you have to turn on the flash?" She rubbed her eyes, and Darren softly chuckled.

"Well at least it's not biblical blinding," he muttered under his breath, joking with his sister.

Adon tilted her head a degree or two, "I don't think I was that bright. I apologize." Her attention turned to Mason and she beamed with a great big smile, "Hello Father Mason! It's nice to meet you! I'm Adon."

He had a conflicted look on his face before it settled to a calming smile like a, well, father, "It's very nice to meet you as well. It's all very unexpected, and it raises quite a few questions for me, personally, but I'm more than happy to help when and where it is needed."

She nodded, "I'm sorry that I brought you here without asking. I'm not well right now, it seems, and I think part of that is making things happen without really thinking them through, or not doing them on purpose altogether."

Mason let go of a breath in a sigh-laugh, placing a hand on top of her head, "Again, I'm happy to help. Regardless of your state right now, you are my Lord. Albeit, you are admittedly childlike right now, I have dedicated my life to serving you. As far as I'm concerned, my afterlife is no different. I serve you willingly."

Adon puffed her cheeks slightly, blushing from being pat on the head, "I don't know that I'm childlike... I don't know what counts as a child... but... thank you? I think?"

"Natalie, I can see where the concern lies. Having God so... innocent and fragile is... well... it's more than a little troublesome. I can only imagine some other deity would have to be the one to do this. Who else could match that level of power? Most superpowers date after that time period, though not all, so I suppose there could have been some powered group... but... that just seems too far-fetched. Let us assume that we are dealing with a deity or a cabal of deities for the time being - or at worst a cabal of powerful demons. If we have more information later, then this can change, but until then it is what makes the most sense," he explained and suggested, beginning to pace back and forth in thought, "Either way, we first have to find out the who before we act on any location information. If they have God captured, then, no offense to your Agas, but I doubt she could do much alone. Research on the enemy is important. If we had known what caliper that demon was before we went in, we would have done more research and the correct research, and I wouldn't have perished. We can't risk getting something wrong here."

He looked to Darren and Tracy, "We will also need you two to practice whatever abilities it is you two have that are from this blessing. An atrophied muscle wouldn't be of as much use."

"But-" started Darren, only to be cut off.

"We have to, young man. Your issues with your powers or with your relationship with God will need to be sorted out, and swiftly. I don't have much patience for laziness. Is this understood?"

"... Yes sir..." he mumbled, looking away like a pup with its tail tucked between its legs. Tracy scrunched her nose in protest but said nothing. She knew she wasn't gonna win this fight. Not with Natalie and Father Mason BOTH here and keeping them on a short lead.

"Good. Natalie, do we have good contacts with the church here? We'll need to work closely with them. We have to be careful, though. The media would make chaos of this already chaotic situation," Father Mason stopped his pacing and looked at Natalie once again, folding his arms, "And lastly, what plans do you have today?"

Detective Marshall

Eyes landed on the Toon as the metaphorical cogs of her mind started to work. Before he could even open his mouth to say 'hang on just a moment' she had rushed on off out of sight. She didn't even have directions or an idea where she was going....crap. A slow drag on his cigarette as he started towards the car. "Alright then. Come on, Muse. We'll have to hope Lexi finds us, or vice versa." Sliding into the car he waited for Muse to slip into the passenger seat and buckle up, starting off down the road. Muse was a bundle of nerves based off the looks of things, though Marshall on the other hand looked far more relaxed than he had any right to be, given the chance of his daughter being kidnapped was very real. The cigarette was put out in the car's ash tray before he pushed it shut, he'd clean it out later and then give the car some air freshener so Sylvia wouldn't have to put up with the smoker scent. "I don't think it's an O.A thing, not fully. Call it a gut feeling...probably some brand of nonsense, but I don't think it's the O.A this time around. My entire house is laced with so many damn wardings and glyphs no one could get in unless they were invited in, and Sylvia was home all day and didn't say anything about visitors...I'll also ask you don't tell my wife I've warded the house to the extent that even the Great Cthulhu wouldn't be able to come inside unless I asked him to...he's asleep though, thankfully, so not on my list of problems today."

Fishing his phone from his pocket he set it at his side, half glancing at it here and there as he fussed with it. The nice thing about M&M's phone, was he could geolocate it to find his kid whenever he needed. Lovely technology, he supposed. A small chime before a woman's voice could be heard, the usual 'turn left, and then proceed five hundred meters' thing. "She's in a forest it looks like. What's she doing out there? Not moving too fast...it's stopped now-and the signal is half-dead. Hm...." Adam fell silent at that but kept his attention on the road. A ten minute drive later and the car was parked, Adam stepping out and shutting the door behind him, car locked up once Muse was out. "You asked how best to help, right? Make sure no one gets hurt. If they do get hurt, tell them it'll be okay. Even if you know deep down in the pit of your stomach it's not going to be okay, comforting someone is sometimes the best and only thing we can do. Even more so with you, Muse. Your voice is strong, based off what I've heard. You fight without even having to throw a punch."

Casey Kemp

If Casey had any thoughts on Ada's worries about this being 'all their fault', he didn't show it, nor did he seem like he cared one way or the other. As cruel as it may seem, even if he put a bullet into the kid and had to kill him, that was an important learning point as well for his daughter. Though of course, he'd do his best not to kill Sean. As the boy whipped around and unsheathed claws that god knows how he was hiding, Casey simply rolled his shoulders, deftly ducking and side stepping each slash and gouge that was sent his way. He was no faster than Ada's 'twitch', and nowhere near as skilled as some of the actual threats he'd fought. At best, right now, Sean was an inconvenience. "Keep seeking, I'm not buying." Fortunately, before the creature that was borrowing Seans body could really start giving it it's all, the boy actually managed to take control, Casey backpedaling without a scratch and dusting himself off.

"Hate it, love it, it doesn't matter how you view it kid. That's your power, running from it your entire life is just going to make it ruin you in the long run. That's also your body, not whatever decided it needed to use it as a vacation home. You want to become stronger, if you want to be able to deal with whatever that power is? You face it, and you put it under your boot. And even if it squirms and begs for you to let it take control, you squish it. Remind yourself. You are the one in control, because it's your skillset." Casey was no stranger to drill routines or training, came with the mercenary work and being good at it, eventually someone wanted some dipshit lackey trained in some regard. He was, however, not used to having to teach a kid who was scared of their own damn shadow. "We're putting a pin in the physical exercise. Here's your new lesson. Get it under control, you've got exactly five minutes. By the time we're done, you should be able to control your powers like flipping a light switch. You want to blame me in your head, or say it's my fault? Good, then use that as your motivation. Prove me wrong, and show me that you're not a liability to me or my daughter."

"Dodge?" Oracle whined, watching as the bubbles started to zip around as stones. Dodge? Why couldn't she just defend instead? That was so much easierrrrr! She yelped, flying back and forth erratically, trying to avoid getting hit. Not that she did very well. The stones were hard to dodge, and it wasn't her best skill. She was one to stand her ground instead and defend instead of dodge. She could use spacial magic again, but...

Right. Stop doubting yourself! After a few painful welts to her arms and torso, Oracle stopped moving.

Instead, she shut her eyes tight and focused on making herself vibrate in and out of physical space. It wasn't something she had ever done before, and was about as difficult as she expected it to be. She was trying to keep her breath steady, trying to ignore that the world was spinning as her inner ear couldn't make sense of what was going on. The feeling of stones trying to hit her but going through her made her sick, and it was eating through mana quick.

She was struggling to keep altitude, too, dropping in starts and spurts lower before it tried to correct itself and jolted her higher again. Honestly, she wasn't even thinking about the fact that if she ran out of mana she'd plummet.

Selena chuckled, smiling ear to ear. She felt like crying. This was literally a dream come true for her and her family. "You're right, I should take it slow. Thank you for being here for me, Mary. I can't even... I mean...," she laughed out a sigh, "I can support my family this way. If I become a hero, then my mom and dad can have a good retirement. They can all rely on me. This is so huge."

"And yeah, I know it's not like it's that easy. Being a hero is hard, and I have to pass the tests and get a license, and all the hard choices heroes have to make are daunting, but this opens so many new avenues. Hell, powered people get hired more frequently. That alone is helpful. A speedster is preferred to a non-speedster for jobs that need to be done quickly. It just... makes sense. I won't be left behind now," Selena squeezed Mary's hand with both of hers, "You being here makes it so much easier."

Her focus shifted, "I think it's easier if I'm calmer. Like I was panicking before, of course, so it was really hard to not move all jerkily and stuff. But now I feel a little better. I mean, I'm still super nervous, but I'm not panicking. I'll have to sign up for registration with the agency to at least get my powers looked at and measured and stuff. God, I don't even know how I'll begin to explain this to my family. They're gonna freak."

1647795230012.pngHer thoughts were interrupted by the tinkling of bells, followed by the breeze caused by one of the more infamous supervillain speedsters rushing past the two of them. Bells. She skidded to a stop and turned to face the two women, grinning evilly as her long tail flicked back and forth. Each flick of the tail chimed her bells again that were tied onto the very end. That was what she was known for. She tied bells to herself so that others had a chance of seeing her coming, because "otherwise what fun is there in playing ball".

Bells grinned at Selena, amused that the young woman looked absolutely terrified of her. But there was always that other reaction. She was a succubus, after all, and she didn't mind if they were a girl or a boy. It was more effective if the girl was a lesbian or bi, of course, which Selena seemed to be a bit of the latter. Her cheeks flushed looking at the supervillain. Bells chuckled, "Well hi there. You know, LA is a dangerous place right now. People like me are out and about. Why are two beautiful women like yourself walking alone? Hm? Care for some company?"

"Oh good...," Austen mumbled, shuffling back into the corner, fear overtaking him as he shook and tensed, "A... a reaper... do I finally get to d-die?"

The two had already started up, of course, but there were three more OA men there that were scrambling to fight. One was immediately taken out of the fight as in his fear he didn't dodge, and had his knees swiftly removed by the swinging blade. As he screamed, it brought the other two out of their stupor and they prepared their weapons. One on the left, a vampire with a blade sliding into his hand made of blood. He looked young, but definitely looked the part of a vampire with pale skin and red eyes. He bared his teeth in a scared grin at the reaper woman.

"Never had reaper blood before!" he shouted, trying to hype himself up.

The other man beside him scoffed, "Reapers are dead. They wouldn't have blood, idiot."

"Like you would know!"

The other man looked to be your average teenager, perhaps a jock at school, with short blond hair and blue eyes nothing stood out about him. He made a tapping motion and a golden pike appeared in his hand, "Look lady, you don't wanna do this. Let's talk it out after we pin you to the ground. If you're here for the kid, you've got another thing coming, you hear?"

The vampire whined, "You sound almost as dumb as the wrestler. Don't let him rub off on you." He stopped the flowing blood from his comrads broken knees and made it patch itself back up, glaring down the woman hesitantly. How were you supposed to fight a reaper? They didn't teach them this in school...

the crumbled shell of a doll slowly shook and clattered in the corner, until a dark bludge sludge slowly trailed across the ground towards the new body. Flowing into the shadow and sinking into them. When the black sludge was fully into the shadow. it completely dissapeared. And the body slowly opened her eyes, Sophia looked down at her new body, gently tilting her head as she inspected herself, ....warmth, is that what this feeling was, A strange rhythm inside her that gave way to an ochestra of sensations. Her hand slowly raised and gently brushed agaisnt the side of her face, The slight friction of the leather, the heat from her cheek and the feeling of her fingers pressing into it. It was... overwhelming, sensations flowed into her from all 5 senses, "this.... this is..." she began to talk before she began to open her mouth and close it repeatedly, grabbing her lips and making syllables with them, feeling her lips tremble slightly from the vibration in the air coming from her voice. "I...it, this....is." she was at a loss for words, trying to stand up from the chair she was in her legs gave way causing her to plummet to the carpeted floor, which let her face feel the soft threads of the carpet. ".........amazing..." was all she could say trembling with wide eyes.

The redhead flashed a confident grin as Selena spit out what was probably the five hundredth 'thank you'. "Of course, I'm happy to help. You need baby steps though. Also, from a psychology standpoint, don't jump head first into 'they can all rely onto me' and take on every ounce of responsibility. It might help at first, but it'll hurt in the long run. Think of it more as 'I can help even more now'!" Mary returned the hand squeeze, still smiling brightly as Selena continued to talk with her. "Good, good, yes! Being calm will allow you to get a grip on this sooner. Speeder powers are directly linked to our body. That also means that if you're still figuring it out and you have an anxiety attack, you have anxiety in super speed, which is also not good. It's registering the basics, before expanding on them."

The sound of tinkling bells caught her attention, Mary's mind quickly speeding up at the blur coming their way, along with the tinkling of bells. Oh sweet baby Jesus in his manger, not now. Worries confirmed as she heard that voice behind them...not just that, she could see the speed demon zoom past in slow motion, her brain speeding up to register the oncoming individual and take note of them. Mother Mary in Heaven, why!? Mary's hand slowly moved to Selena's wrist, tugging the taller girl behind her. She's hot, why's she got to be hot!? Mother Mary and your Son, give me strength for this! Mary was putting on a better poker face than her friend, at least, a coy grin on her lips as she raised an eyebrow. I'm just some cocky college student, run with it...dammit, I need an opportunity to get my suit! Mary cleared her throat, folding her arms across her chest. "Yea, L.A is all kinds of wonky. That's why we're travelling together, safer as a pair, you know? Fraid we don't need any company, I don't think you'd be able to keep up." Mary moved then, zooming a dozen or so yards behind bells before she continued. "I mean, I get the entire routine, speed demon, but you don't gotta take it literally." Another zoom then, back to her place in front of Selena. "You're Bells, right? Seriously, an A-list succubi like you harassing school girls? Seriously, can you get any more cliche? What's next, going to harass the paladin running down fifth avenue?"

Mary couldn't help it, her brain could register that she should shut up, but there was the terrible thing that she had where she had to quipp. Like Spiderman syndrome, where all levels of respect went down and sass maxed out. "We'll pass on the company, but if you hurry I think you'll catch late day Mass, might do some good for ya." Just keep quipping...if she was talking, she couldn't focus on that cute face and nice legs and, dammit Mary get it together! She needed her suit and at least she'd be able to catch the villain. What was a good excuse though!? Could she ask to go to the bathroom? Was that allowed?

The abyss was suffocating Jax. His focus was in and out. What the fuck happened? One moment he was fine, stalking his target. He could hear them one floor above. The next, his instincts led him to turn and strike... and upon hitting the figure behind him, a being darker than the space around him and covered in stars, he was here. There was... nothing here. Not just a lack of things, but an almost tangible nothingness. It filled the space, it filled his lungs. It filled his mind. Whatever it was, it was fucking cold. But there was a way out, he could barely sense it. Out there somewhere. All he could do was reach for it and pull. His powers over metal would save him.

But only in the sense that it could pull him where he needed to go. Without gravity or friction, he accelerated to speed he'd never experienced before in relatively short order. But it didn't help that he was so damned cold. Why was he so cold? He knew he would freeze before he even suffocated, and his lungs had already begun to burn, from both the growing chill and lack of air. He needed warmth. Needed it. Jax needed a fire. And so he got what he willed for. Starting around the cracks in his metal limb, he saw light begin. It spread up from inside the complex piece, first lighting cracks and warming the space where it met his shoulder, then it began to glow itself as fire poured out of it.

Then it spread. Up his shoulder, across his chest, around his face. Soon it encompassed all of him, and it was even unpleasantly warm... or would be, normally. For now he'd take any degree of warmth. With problem two miraculously solved, he could focus on problem one. Crossing the distance. It wasn't clear where this boundary was, but he felt more metal there than he could ever imagine. This flame was new, powerful, and draining, however. He couldn't maintain it for long... yet. As he got close to the precipice of this invisible world, Jax thinned the flames, only lightly coating himself. Then new flames came to be as he crossed a threshold. He fell, now, and began to warm as he did so. Nothing he couldn't handle, though, even as he lit up like a torch. Orienting himself towards the ground, he prepared for impact best he could. It didn't take long... but his fall was softened by something that collapsed under his falling form. A... wait. This looked like the husks of what were once vehicles that littered his world. And inside... was now quite the mess of once person. Looking up from where he fell, he could see something unfathomable. This was identifiable. This was... a living city? How was everything so bright? Who powered all these lights?

Unfortunately, his time to admire the world was cut short. A loud squeal, and this vehicle, with Jax, went flying. More metal vehicles piled up as people watched both him and the destruction in horror. He corrected himself before landing, feeling the metal of the structure behind him rapidly approach. He crashed through a window, managing to turn the crash into a roll. He found his feet, flame finally disappearing from his body... in time to realize his clothes had burned away. A problem for later. Well that was... something. Everything around him spoke a tongue he didn't understand, but panic was clear. It was time to go. People aren't generally reasonable in this state. He'd explain himself later and do what he could for the family of whomever it was that died in that vehicle. For now, he could only try to stop the pile up. It was at four now, including a very large one with a long trailer of some kind. Hopping out the window, he reached out to grasp an incoming vehicle, this one smaller and boxier than most. It floated up, and the one behind it had time to stop. The machine was dropped to the side, strange black wheels downwards.

This was repeated on the other side, a black and white car with strange red and blue lights on top and what was obviously text on the side. But this one didn't go so well. More screams were heard as another familiar object was pulled on Bojax by someone nearby in uniform. His response was automatic. Gun. It didn't look exactly like the ones he knew... but he knew how it was held, its shape. The thing was crushed in the womans hands, taking a couple fingers as at was ripped away. Shit. That might have been some kind of security, and he just made things way worse. Nothing to do about it now, he thought as more of them showed up. More guns were destroyed. One of them hit him with strange metal darts on wires, but the shock did nothing... except earn that person a crushed pistol to the chest, knocking them on their ass, breaking ribs. Guns were fired, but they lacked the punch to harm him... not that it didn't hurt, but he confirmed they were too weak to do damage. Good. It was time to flee then, since they couldn't hurt him.

2092291-bigthumbnail.jpgkali was flying through LA weaving between the buildings, she had already done her walk and even dealt with her new songbirds request, all that was left was to just patrol for the day. Once again back to the methodical. "oh, now that is not something you see every day. a metal bending nudist in the street fighting cops. I thought We already celebrated saint patricks day this year." kali said aloud before she drew one of her blades. "let us just get it over with then." with ease she quickly manuevered herself straight up as the engines of her suit wirred to life blasting her high. When she had reached a suitable height she calmly kicked her leg while using its thruster to rotate herself 180 degrees vertical. pointing straight down as her visor glowed bright. her jets quickly going to max power, blue light shooting out of them as she whizzed downward, a cone of air pressure surrounding her as she locked onto the target, rapidly descending she prepared to going for a falcon curve and cleave him in two with a single motion. Until in the back of her mind, and in her spine, she could feel the creeping sensation, and quickly ejected letting her armor turn itself into a inertia missile towards the man. using her electromagnetic arms she stabbed into a building and slid down it observing the impact. "lets see if my insticts saved me" Kali said with intrigue in her voice. A metal bender, was not her best match up. Your options for that were to kill before noticed. resort to hand to hand, or have non metal weapons. The suit can be fixed, or she can always use a spare. Her body would take longer to heal, Better to sacrifice the suit to learn the enemy before hand then to head in blind.

150 feet. That was the range at which metal entered the range of his perception when he was distracted with other things, though it seemed expanded in the void he was in before. One hundred fifty feet was more than enough time to dodge the sub-sonic... suit thing that came at him, blade fixed at an angle. The intention was clear... and much more dangerous than the bullets, which had stopped firing once they proved ineffective.

Reaching out, he slowed the armor as he pulled himself up over where the blade would have bisected him. Keeping his grip on the metal suit as he went over it, he slowed its momentum to the point that it stopped entirely... before crunching it as he noticed where the former pilot had hopped out. "What the fuck is wrong with you, you daft bitch?" He barked roughly, knowing that he wouldn't be understood. He still couldn't help himself. The psycho just launched the damn thing at him at that kind of speed?

Reaching out to the buildings around him, he yanked himself to the woman as fast as he could, ramming his fist to her right hip.

-Project Nexus-

Nexus approached the fire station as the flames whipped high into the air. There was no way anyone could survive that- wait.
His suit sent out a sonar signal, detecting several civilians, and a few possible heroes? The largest was called 'Axiom' and he was attempting to stabilize the structure. Markus recalled that he was the one who had quite literally bent his M4A1 Carbine in half.
"Whats the temp?" Nexus asked the AI in his suit.
"Approximately one-thousand degrees." The AI replied.
"Okay...What can this suit sustain?" He asked.
"Theoretically this exoframe can withstand a temperature up to five-thousand degrees, As for your organics, you would be able bodied to overheat."
"Alright," He spoke, sliding his DEagle into his chest compartment. "Lets do this." His tinted visor snapped into place, and he quickly rushed over to Axiom. "Hey buddy! Need some help?" He asked aloud, unbothered by the whipping flames.

"I don't really know a whole lot about Cthulhu sleeping or whatever but um... I guess that's good," she muttered, trying her best to be quiet for the drive. Rambling didn't help the situation.

"Absolutely!" Muse chimed, nodding emphatically, "Though... I mean... if your daughter has the same ability as you, I wouldn't be able to use my voice to calm her down if she's scared or anything like that... With your power do you still get scared normally? Or... do you not? Not getting scared ever sounds dangerous given that a little bit of fear tells us not to do something dangerous... But then what causes fear or a mental response and what doesn't?" She was rambling again. She was so nervous and worried about the missing little kid.

"If she's in this forest," Muse stated, rubbing her arm as she looked around at the trees, "and the signal got weak and died... then that probably means she went under something like a bridge or in a building or something. Let me see what I can do." Muse whistled, the sound swiftly going higher until it went supersonic and she made a mental map of the area. Trees. Small flora and fauna. Squirrels maybe? She gasped in a breath after keeping the whistle up as long as she could.

"I think I found something. A hole or something. Like... a cave maybe? Or a sinkhole? I'm not sure," she panted, rubbing her cheeks, "If they went underground then it could explain the signal error, right?"

Misty had jogged ahead of Dunnie, chasing after the wisp through tight winding tunnels until the two girls had lost sight of one another. Dunnie was scared, slowly meandering as she couldn't keep her human guise up. Her skin was black and purple, eyes popping up every few seconds as she nervously looked around. She was still near the entrance. As soon as she lost sight of Misty she didn't wanna wander too much. If she stayed close to the entrance then she'd be able to get out... and she'd be able to see when Misty came back this way, too.

Misty on the other hand was totally content to wander deeper and deeper in. She noticed Dunnie had gotten left behind, but she couldn't find her friend again and didn't want to lose the wisp. Dunnie probably just chickened out or something. She was an eldritch thingee. She could defend herself.

This darn wisp was so fast! She jogged after it. Even the light of her flashlight was dim here. That and the glowing ball were the only two things giving any illumination to her surroundings. As they went deeper, Misty didn't notice since she was so focused, but every now and then symbols were carved into the stone walls of the cave.

Magnus simply huffed out in frustration, "Just be careful and don't end up dying on us, miss." The frustrated beast looked as if it gave up, and Magnus scooped it up into his arms, poking its nose with a finger. He looked to Carmen, "I'll keep a hold on this little thing. It's not exactly aggressive. Even when you did that blessing, it could have attacked you and didn't. It merely shrieked in frustration at you. And now it seems like a disappointed puppy. I know these things can very well be dangerous, but at the least, this one I think is not an immediate danger." He seemed content to follow along after Carmen, though he kept a little bit of a poltergeist-y eye out for Grave Speaker, just in case.

Not two steps into the basement, Tessa found her face to face with exactly what she was here for... rather, face to projectile with it. She tried to skip back a step, but it was faster than anticipated and still made some contact with her chest before Reth struck one side of it. It partially collapsed, and went flying into the wall. "Basement!" Tessa yelled, activating the effect on her mask that let her create visual copies of herself going in different directions. Looks like she wouldn't have time to talk to this one...

Unwinding her hexwire from around her wrists to her shoulders, Tessa looked for her target. Upon seeing it, she would try to bind its front limbs to its back, effectively hogtying it. "Woah! Hey! We don't want to hurt you!" She said as she prepared a card. This one was another binding type card, one that would put it into a pleasant dream and immobilize it. It wouldn't last long, maybe a minute or two at most, but long enough to get it to a cell.

James

The blonde looked over to the collection of body parts, rubbing the back of his head in thought as the throb in his temple was slowly starting to fade. "That's fair, I suppose. She deserves something that won't break on her, she's part of the reason I'm even alive at this rate." At the request to 'order' her James simply stared at Vice like she had a horn growing out of her head. She wanted him to give her orders? No risk of being impaled, deboned, or crushed? "...Fine, I order you to finish what you're working on, for Sophia. I know how it works, I'm just used to pain when I give orders."

As Sophia's body came together piece to piece, and James realized that modesty was not a current goal, he suddenly found the carpet they were standing on an excellent thing to stare at. "Y'know, ya did a great job in this room, would ya just look at the carpet? Doesn't even need to be vacuumed, I'm sure. And look at that ceiling, also perfect." James was mumbling to himself, making it a point not to look at the nude woman in the room until he was confident she had been dressed. How could he tell? Well Vice was calling for Sophia to inhabit it, which was a good indicator. "...Wait, did you just say you gave her human sensation?" It took a moment for his brain to register that fact, but a certain dread he wasn't used to crawled up his spine at the statement. Ahhhh shit.

James attention shifted to Sophia as the sludge made it's way to inhabit the body, staring at the body blankly. Okay he'd...admit, it was pretty attractive, he supposed. "Hey....Sophia, you feeling okay?" James could only stare with a mixture of concern and confusion as Sophia started to...rub her face on the carpet, resting his chin on his hand as he stared ahead. "...Vice, I think you broke Sophia."

Vice snerked, breaking into a fit of giggles as she witnessed this woman dressed all fancily rubbing the carpet with her face. She'd do Sophia a solid, this time. Not that making her an entire body wasn't already a solid... but Vice was too damn nice sometimes. Vice sighed, satisfied, and nudged James's arm, "Go help her up! It'll take her a bit to get used to the new body. I wanted to make sure it was as close to human as I could make it, though. She seems to really like humans, after all." This way, James would be the first person to touch her! It was cute! The sensations would all be new for Sophia and so it was important to Vice that it was somebody that cared a lot about her.

"You gotta make sure to keep an eye on her, James. It could be pretty overwhelming," Vice continued, producing a glass of water and offering it to James to offer to Sophia, "Here. Since it's such a fresh body, its throat is probably dry. Sophia you gotta swallow water, not breathe it. Okay?"
