DapperKnight

A Dapper Knight for dapper nights.
The Story
5000 years ago, before the creation of nations, kingdoms and the 7 Reigns were created, there were simply two entities known as Life, the younger brother and Death, the older Sister. Life was an ambitious and joyful being, who relishes in creating beings of all size and shape to fill the world, while Death brought nothing but misery to all who encountered her. In this ancient age, Life was praised and worshiped as a god, while Death was reviled by all mortal things. Wracked with jealousy for Life, and hatred for all mortal beings, Death summoned forth her own creations, and thus a war of annihilation had began. Death's forces, unliving beings known as Revenants, swarmed across the mortal lands, devouring and converting every last man and beast that stood in their way. The once fertile and vibrant lands had been turned into barren wastes, where the only feature seem are the stone pillars that were once trees, providing a grim reminder to all those venturing that the wasteland now belonged to Death. Hundreds of thousands were slaughtered in his grand demonstration of Death's power, and hundreds of kingdoms that had risen during the golden age, fell practically overnight and all hope seemed lost.

As one might had expected, Life, in his benevolence, used his powers to aid mortal kind. He took the essence of the mortal world, that being fire, water, earth, air, nature, electricity, light and darkness, and forged it with both metal, and the essence of life to create the first line of defense against Death and her Revenants, that being the Servant Arms. Living weapons with powers and abilities far beyond the capabilities of the average mortal kind. Life had forged over half a million Servant Arms, and gifted them to his most trusted warriors, comrades that he had grown fond of and even random citizens who had not even seen the godly entity before, but Life had seen a spark of greatness with them. With these new warriors, known as Arms Masters and their newly forged Servant Arms, Life led a brutal, and long war against the forces of Death. A hundred years of warring passed, as the Arms Masters and Servant Arms drove back the Revenants from the blighted mortal lands, and it all lead to a final battle between Life and his 250,000 strong army against Death and her endless droves of unliving Revenants.

The battle lasted a full week, a full week of endless slaughter night and day while Life's Arms Masters and Servant Arms died by the hundreds while the Revenants were slain in the thousands. Death, with her personal weapon the Weeping Blade, culled dozens of Arms Masters and their Servant Arms every swing, staining the weapon with an unnatural blackness with their severed souls, but the sacrifice of many of his warriors and follows and allowed Life to meet his sister on the field of battle, and in a violent clash, Life and Death struck each other for the first time. Blow after violent blow, Death with her scythe Weeping Blade and Life with his spear Glorious Dawn, fought for hours and chipped away at each other's being, until finally Life was on his knees. Pleading for his sister to stop the madness, and when she refused and brought down Weeping Blade and shattered Glorious Dawn, but not before Life thrusted his spear into Death's very essence, and banished her from the mortal realm, leaving her forces to scatter across the land. Death was forced back into the Aether, and the battle was one, but at a great cost. Out of 250,000 that was mustered for the battle, only 10,000 had survived and Life, like Death, was forced towards the Aether, but in order to remain on the mortal realm by retreating into the shattered remains of his weapons, which were lost due to the shards flying across the world due to the shattering of Glorious Dawn, or taken by the retreating Remenants to be hidden from the mortals.

The battle won, the war over, mortal kind finally was able to take the world for themselves, and over the course of 5000 years, towns, cities, and kingdoms has risen from the ruins of the war, and the blighted lands healed, at least most of it. Without Death, the Revenants scattered, but they remain a constant threat, and to deal with a small pack would be a feasible feat by mortal soldiers, but for smarter and larger packs, Servant Arms and Arm Masters was required. Over the last decade however...Revenant activity had begun to increase...the reason why has not yet been discovered, but there are a few who believes that it might be that Death could be close to returning to the world...

The Mortal World
Servant Arms map.jpg
The Mortal World is a world that contains a large variety of species, races, cultures and also countless dangers from beasts, raiders and most of all, Revenants. Areas colored red are known as the Blighted Lands, areas where the Revenant had completely taken over, and made unsuitable for large scale human settlement or colonization. On this world, there are 7 major Kingdoms, each dedicated to their own interests primarily, but are willing to work together for the most part to aid in the progression of mortal-kind.

1. The Arms Academy: Life was young, but not foolish. He knew there was a chance he would fail in defeating Death, and thus he had a small faction of a thousand Master Arms and Servant Arms build the Arms Academy. The Academy is responsible for the training of new Arms Masters, maintaining large scale peace between the various kingdoms and nations that would eventually spring up after the war, and fight back the Revenant that threaten mortal-kind. Trainees are selected personally by Master Recruiters, and are then given a Servant Arm, and finally trained through a combination of drilling and low risk missions for at least a year before reaching the rank of Arms Master.

2. The Servant Forge: Two things separates an Arms Master and your average soldier, mercenary, adventurer and rogue. The first is their rank, as an Arms Master outranks all but the highest rung of society and are allowed to directly interfere with local politics or take over the defenses of an entire town should they find it necessary to defend against an upcoming threat. The second is their Servant Arms. All Servant Arms come from the Servant Forge, a magical place where the essence of the Mortal World; Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light, Darkness, Electricity and Nature, and forge it with pure metals to make the finest weapons known to mortal-kind. While their primary goal is the creation and repair of Servant Arms, the Servant Forge has a secondary goal; to find the pieces of Glorious Dawn, in order to reforge the weapon and bring Life back to the Mortal World.

3. The Kingdom of Oleh: A hardy kingdom with a hardy people. In the north, where the days are cold, and the nights colder, only the most adaptable survive. Oleh prides itself on being the most technologically advanced nation, having developed the first steam powered engines, steam powered airships, automatic refineries and rail systems, as well as weapons known as Flintlocks. While small, Oleh believes that one should not focus too long on the past, and should instead figure out how to move forward, which leads to many Olian being seen as snobbish, and pragmatic to a fault, as common sense and logic gets results in Oleh, and results gets someone in high places in Oleh.

4. The Kingdom of Guild: The Kingdom of Guild is a widespread kingdom, with their territory primarily being made of hills and plains, leading to Guild developing some of the best horse riders in the world, as well as producing the highest quality meat in the world, primarily beef, mutton and chevon. A simple folk, and being rather technologically simple as well with many houses still using candles and fireplaces to light their homes rather then the common lightbulbs of the rest of the world, a Guilder enjoy a simple life, working, fighting and farming, but this doesn't mean they're soft. Generations of ranchers of farmers had made the average Guilder a head taller then most mortals, with broad shoulders and thick muscles.

5. The Kingdom of Beara: Beara had to suffer through constant attacks from the Revenant, and this had bred a tough and battle hardened people, who are both stoic and methodical in their dealings. There is a small running joke that actual bears are quicker thinkers then Bearans, who seem to take liberal amounts of time when preparing for the simplest jobs, but that is because Bearans have long since realized that to do things half-way gets people killed, and would rather prepare for every eventuality, rather then what is expected. The constant attacks of the Revenants, and their stoic nature had garnered them the reputation of being unshakable footmen, praised by many foreign generals for their discipline and unbending will. However due to the constant attacks, the Kingdom of Beara looks down on Arms Masters and Servant Arms, seeing them as unneeded busy bodies, and most other foreigners as soft and coddled. Still, when push comes to shove, there is no one more loyal and stalwart as then a Bearan.

6. The Kingdom of Prokos: The Kingdom of Prokos is a nation known for two things; their fishing, and their advanced forging skills. With many of their major cities and trading centers having access to the sea, and their unrestricted access to the mountains found in the center of their peninsula, Prokos, and the Prokans, have developed primarily around these two industries. As such, the people of Prokos take great pride in their naval skills and their smithing skills, which some say it led to them developing a generally prideful personality. While some say it is well deserved, as their stonework, shipbuilding and metallurgy skills are next to none in the mortal world, a fact that they seem to hold close to their chest, the fact that they seem to lord it over all the other kingdoms does get rather grating on the nerves. Still, there is no people more hardworking and as skilled in advanced craftsmen ship then those from the Kingdom of Prokos.

7. The Kingdom of Subi-Cabar: Subi-Cabar, the Sand City. A city built to overlook the desert lands of the Subi-Setar, or the Sand Sea, and is now the capital of an entire kingdom. Once, around 4300 years ago, Subi-Cabar was the seat of a tyrannical overlord, who ruled the people of the Sand Sea with an iron grip, determined to take the sea for it was his right as a living god, Life reborn he called himself. However, the people of Subi-Setar managed to organize, rise and retake their home from the tyrant god-king, and set up their own Kingdom, ruled not by Kings, but by powerful Families. The Families form a Senate, where matters of import are brought up by the people, which are then solved for the people. A strong sense of individuality and freedom runs through the blood of the Subians, and thus the Kingdom of Subi-Cabar stands for those ideals as well, and takes an active role within foreign poltics, to make sure no tyrant like the God-King would ever rise again.

8. The Kingdom of Avidi: In Avidi, even the streets are covered in gold, as money flows through every settlement and city like a river. Avidi is the trading center of the world, as they are the closest kingdom to both the Arms Academy, and the Servant Forge, and thus provide excusive and exotic lodging to resting Arms Masters and their Servant Arms. This unique resource had drawn many thousands every day, hoping to get a glimpse of one of these grand warriors, and where there are tourists, there are businesses looking to profit, and where there is profit, there is trade and trade is what Avidi does best. Everything is a resource, everything is profit, and this surplus of wealth had eventually trickled down into the pockets of even the slum-lords, turning Avidian into both the most corrupt Kingdom to date, as the disparity between the rich and poor seems to grow every day...however, to live on the streets, or to run a business in Avidi requires both cunning and knowledge, and many had found that to trust an Avidi, is to trust a crow, whose eyes reflect only gold and silver.

9. The Kingdom of Hotta: Heat comparable to that of Suti-Cabar. Humidity comparable to Prokos, and adaptability on par with Oleh. Hotta can be said to embody the best of mortal kind, being clever, loyal, and strong, but also the worst, being brutal, ruthless and callous. The jungles hide not only Revenant, but venomous monsters and poisonous prey, and the Hottans have grown to be some of the finest survivalists, trackers, hunters and beast masters in the world. A collection of loose tribes, the Hottans dislike outsiders, secluded on their tropical island, as they see outsiders as a bothersome pest that needs taking care of, and have even gone out of the way to build a crude capital on a safer island to the north for foreigners to reside in. However their capital is more or less a large collection of tents and stick houses, as the people of Hotta prefer to live nomadic lives. For the jungle remembers where you settle, and the longer the jungle remembers, the quicker it can bring down whatever you've created.

The Plot
The plot is that you are all playing as characters who are trainees of Arms Academy, under the leadership of Master Trainer Damos Klein and his Servant Arms, Nikia. You will also be working with a Servant Arms known as Fros, who will act as your team's cook, cleaner, laundry handler and overall laborer. Your characters will have arrived at Arms Academy, and will be given some time to get yourselves accustom to the world, the characters, and the RP in general, before your first mission begins. As your mission unfolds however, some strange things begin to happen. Larger amounts of Revenant begin to show up, stronger forms too, and they seemed to move in coordinated packs rather then simple minded gaggles. As your fight through the horde and explore and discover, you will eventually find a rare artifact, one that many would kill to simply touch...a fragment of Glorious Dawn...soon you shall be thrusted into harder missions, tougher jobs and in a world with increasing Revenant attacks, can the Arms Masters and Servant Arms manage to keep the peace, or will their 5000 year long duty end with the death of all mortal kind...

The Players
You shall be playing as both Arms Master and Servant Arm. There is really no restrictions on what fantasy species you might want to be, as long as you are humanoid, that is two arms and two legs. With Servant Arms, they can be any weapon you wish really, just be reasonable. As gunpowder weaponry is still a relatively new invention, there will be no weapons more advanced then a flintlock gun. If you think your weapon choice is a bit iffy, send me a message and we'll discuss.

Arms Master: Arms Masters are the warriors chosen by higher ranking Arms Masters to be the finest warriors ad protectors of mortal-kind. Diverse in both appearance and skill, the Arms Masters are expected to throw off all ties to their homeland, though many still hold ties to their homelands, and others see the Arms Academy as their true home. This however, is usually not anything important, as the true test of an Arms Master is their skills with their Servant Arms. It is your duty as an Arms Master to

Servant Arms: Weapons forged originally from Life, each Servant Arms is as diverse as mortal-kind. Each have their own appearance, abilities, likes and dislikes in food choices. Servant Arms are more then just weapons, as they are forged from both metal and elemental essence, which allows them to channel one specific element, be it fire, water, earth, air, light, darkness, electricity, or nature, in order to perform attacks and abilities that most mortals dream of! Each Servant Arm has two forms, a weapon form and a mortal form. While in weapon form, the Servant Arm is just that, a weapon that can only be used to its full potential by its Arms Master. In their mortal form, the Servant Arm is actually quite indistinguishable from a mortal counterpart. A Servant Arm that takes the mortal form of a human will look like a human, a Servant Arm that takes the form for a dog will look like a dog and so forth. They would even have organs and eat like mortals, though the former is simply simulacrum and the latter would primarily be for pleasure rather then necessity. (NOTE: Do not worry if you don't wish to play two characters. There are going to be Servant Arms who prefer to stay as weapons permanently and vise versa, so if you don't like playing two characters, simply say that your Servant Arm prefers to stay in weapon form.)

The Expectations
I expect people to be polite and clear with their intentions and desires for the RP, but I don't want this to be an RP where I have to handle all the interactions with players. Feel free to talk with your team mates! Be friendly to each other, form relationships and bonds with one another! I'm sure everyone would love an RP where everyone not only gets along, but works together to form something truly special. If you have any storylines or anything you want to include, feel free to tell me in private message!

As for posting length, I don't expect massive texts of words like what's going on above what you're reading now. I only expect maybe a paragraph at least, but really, as long as you're forwarding the plot, or a conversation I don't really mind how long your post is.

As for how active I would expect you to be, I would generally like you to be active, maybe 1-2 post a day at the very least, but this is more or less what I want and I don't really expect everyone to be on RPnation 24/7. There will be a Discord, and I do expect you to have a very active presence on Discord, be it discussing plot, what you want for your character or if you just want to chat.

Other then all that, I hope whoever joins have fun! There's nothing worst then someone trying to post but have lost all interest in the RP. If there's something wrong, or if there's something you would like to suggest, tell me and we'll talk it out.
