Today was the day!

Bella could barely contain her excitement. She'd been packing for a week, readying herself for the trip she and Lily were about to take. When the letter detailing the details of her grandparents estate came in, at first, Bella hadn't believed it. She thought the letter was a hoax, a cruel trick someone was playing on her to get some sort of reaction. But she and Tati had taken the letter to a lawyer, who informed them that the letter was quite real, and though her grandparents were no longer alive (figured) the estate was there and Bella's for the taking.

The 19 year old had been planning this trip with Lily for months now. The drive so far had been long and mostly tedious, but they'd switched off driving so no one got too tired. Last thing they needed was to crash. Bella's jeep wasn't the smoothest ride, but it was the middle of June so they'd ditched the top and the top half of the doors, creating a breezy ride. Their things were stuffed into the backseat and the floorboards below, so they didn't lose anything.

The GPS read that they would be arriving at their destination in an hour, give or take. Traffic had slimmed out considerably since they left city limits, and Bella was currently behind the wheel. She'd turned the radio to her favorite station what felt like hours ago, since her phone battery had died and her car charger port didn't work. Some current hit played through the speakers, and she hummed along as her jeep cleared mile after mile.

"We're almost there!" She had to yell to be heard over the music, and realized it might be a little too loud. Reaching to turn it down considerably, she glanced over at Lily. "This is going to be the vacation of all vacations. Don't you think so?" Returning her attention to the road, she grinned, mostly to herself. They both deserved it, she and her best friend. Life had given them shitty hands in different ways, and they needed some time off from the real world.

To say Lily was glad to be away from everything with Bella was an understatement. She was ecstatic. Although she hadn’t been nearly as surprised as her friend was about her grandparents’ estate—heck, she’d been bummed it wasn’t her grandparents who had left her a goddamn mansion—due to her uncanny ability to predict events that resembled any modicum of anything she’d read, she had been happy that Bella invited her to come see it, too.

They’d been trading off who was driving, and like she did the other times she was in the passenger seat, she was fiddling with her favorite stuffed rabbit. Most girls their age gave up (or at least pretended to give up) their stuffed animals. Lily, however, had made it clear from a very young age that she wasn’t going to give up any of her cute plushies for any reason. Her rabbit, while worn from all the nights of squeezing and cuddling to chase away the nightmares, was still fluffy and adorable, with its sewn smile and bright eyes.

“Hm? Oh, yeah, best vacation ever.” She grinned over to Bella, who had been bopping to the radio while Lily occupied herself with cuteness. “Though I do hope you plan to make this vacation permanent—we haven’t had the pleasure of calling each other roommates yet, have we?”

Squinting through the windshield, Lily thought she spotted a stretch of forest, with something definitely peeking out over the treetops… “Is that it? That looks like some old timey how-do-you do.”

Settling back in her seat, she smiled over at Bella. “Let’s hope this place is interesting, or I might keel over from boredom.”

Lily's stuffed rabbit was about as cute as she was, honestly. Bella grinned, mostly to herself as as pressed the accelerator a little harder to speed the Jeep up. She was ready to get there, and be out of the damn car. She'd kicked off her heels ages ago, and hadn't bothered to put them back on even when it was her turn to drive again.

"No, we haven't!" Bella pursed her lips, though easily broke out into another happy expression. "Can you imagine? Finally being away from our hometown, living in a place that's completely paid for, we just have to keep up with utilities? It doesn't seem like a bad area out here." Bella scanned their surroundings, though her head snapped forward when Lily pointed out the top of a pretty large house.

"I think so!" Bella resisted the urge to squeal in excitement. In another five minutes or so, Bella was pulling into the driveway. It was long and winding, and it took another few minutes before she parked in front of the large estate. "Wow." She breathed, reaching behind her for her heels before turning back to the house. "This place is insane."

Slipping her heels back on, Bella hopped out of the Jeep and started towards the house, reaching for the key she'd tucked into her bra earlier. Once she reached the front door, she unlocked it and slowly pushed it open before stepping inside, into the large entryway. "Lily! It's beautiful!"

Nate ducked as the basketball came flying at his face, narrowly avoiding getting smashed in the face. He'd been laying in one of the bedrooms, the one he'd claimed as 'his', tossing the ball that didn't get alot of use up into the air and catching it. He'd been doing okay, too, until he heard the front door opening. Luckily, the basketball landed on the bed with a soft 'oof', not making a sound otherwise that would bring attention to his location.

Jerking to a sitting position, Nate sat very still as he used his vampiric hearing to listen in on what was happening. He heard a very feminine voice saying that the place was beautiful-- which it was, if he had anything to say about it-- and maybe another voice responding, though it was further away. Obviously interested, he stood up slowly and crept to the door, pulling it open. Thankfully he'd just oiled all the damn hinges in the house, and it didn't make a sound.

Eternity came with alot of boredom.

Sliding out into the hallway, he moved his socked feet over the hardwood floors towards the main part of the house. He spotted another familiar face already standing by the banister above the foyer, standing in the shadows just on the other side. Wrinkling his nose as he recognized Aiden, he paused in his steps and crossed his arms over his chest. Being the youngest meant he got alot of shit, especially from Aiden. But he could still deck him, if he wanted. Only issue is, Aiden would come back with worse, so Nate usually just ignored him.

Hearing the voice again, though, drew his interest more than his distaste for his vampire 'brother'. "Who is it?" He asked, his voice soft as he crept closer.

Had Nate been paying more attention, he might have heard the girls pulling into the driveway. Aiden had, and had been waiting in the shadows on the second floor balcony ever since. He heard Nate approaching, but barely spared him a glance as he watched the first girl walk in. She was pretty, very pretty... which only meant that the second girl was either just as pretty, or a dog.

Thankfully, when she came into sight, he realized that it definitely wasn't the latter. Instantly, his interest was piqued even more. Nate spoke, and Aiden lifted a finger to shush him. "Apparently, these are our new housemates." Aiden grinned, flashing his brother a playful look before disappearing. He'd used his speed to head to the stairs, standing at the top of them. The first girl had already walked past where she would be able to see him, but the second girl would see him if she looked up.

The Zabielski clan who had lived here before had grown old and died. Aiden had found their documents and basically thrown them aside, not caring much for the boring pieces of paper. Being the leader and caring about that kind of shit was on Teddy, not him. But he had found pictures of a child who vaguely resembled the first girl, though he wasn't sure.

Or maybe he was just imagining things. But no, he'd distinctly heard the sound of a key in the lock. Leaning against the banister, he started silently moving down the steps. "Evening, ladies." He greeted, his voice low, almost seductive as he reached the ground floor, shutting the door behind Lily.

Much like Aiden, Sam had heard the girls almost as soon as they hit the driveway. He knew they were coming, just wasn't sure when. He'd been waiting in a room off the side of the foyer, just waiting for them to come inside. Both girls were extremely pretty, so it was no surprise to Sam when Aiden appeared at the bottom of the stairs, shutting the door behind the second girl as she entered.

"Aiden." Sam stood from his chair and appeared in the doorway, giving the flirt a warning look. "You're going to scare them. Must you always be so dramatic?" Shaking his head, he turned towards the two girls. "Evening, ladies. I'm Sam. This is Aiden. Nate is upstairs-" He pointed to the banister, where the young vampire stood now, offering a small wave. "The others are around here somewhere."

Glancing back at the door that Aiden had now locked, he returned his attention to the girls. "And you are?"

“We sure are living the dream,” Lily teased. It was nice to see Bella excited about something, though she also shared some of the excitement. She wasn’t one to be excited about anything, but living with Bella, away from that goddamn orphanage? That was heaven, and nothing beat that. Middle of nowhere was fine with her, since everywhere with Bella was somewhere.

Thankfully, she didn’t have to wait much longer before Bella was pulling into the mansion’s driveway. Of course, it took a few minutes going down that, since it was a fancy rich person’s house and everything. Still, she chuckled at Bella’s clear impatience to get inside. She climbed out of the jeep with a bit more laziness than her friend, still holding her stuffed rabbit.

Glancing up to stare at how… well, big… the place was, Lily craned her neck to take it all in. She never could have imagined, even with all of the scenarios from TV and books and cartoons, that someone like her would ever end up in a place like this.

She was still waiting for something to go wrong.

Attempting to ignore (and failing) her growing suspicions about the place, she followed Bella inside to the entryway. It certainly was breathtaking. “Yeah, it is… Wow… your grandparents certainly knew how to decorate.” She spun around slowly, hugging her rabbit to her chest. “This is really cool. Think it’s haunted?” she joked, though a part of her wondered if maybe she was right.

Glancing up at the top of the grand staircase that curved up to a mostly unseen hallway, she raised an eyebrow, half-expecting someone to appear. Maybe I should stop reading so much… Then something… did appear, and she held back a sigh. She was either already delusional… or this was going to get very interesting.

And interesting it got, because a rather handsome young man started strolling down the stairs. Both of Lily’s eyebrows rose. What, no jumping out from behind a piece of furniture? No demands as to what the hell they were doing there? She was less concerned about the guy’s presence than she was about his complete lack of respect for how things like this were supposed to go down.

In a way, she was impressed by his lack of tact.

She was less impressed when he shut the door, effectively cutting off any means of escape. At least she had her rabbit.

Another one appeared, with wild hair that she honestly didn’t want to compare to a lion, but she had no other point of comparison, and he introduced himself. Frowning, Lily racked her brain, wondering if anything she’d ever read had prepared her for this. After a quick inventory, she decided nothing had, and she found she was, for once, at a loss.

Well. Damn.

Sam, as he had so kindly offered to name himself, pointed out the presence of yet another male, Nate, and Lily glanced up to see the face of an adorable boy waving. Lily tightened her arms around her rabbit so she wouldn’t accidentally assault the guy, but damn, why couldn’t all guys be that adorable? Not the point, Lily! Focus!

Stepping away from Aiden, but keeping him in her periphery, Lily stared down each male in turn. “Normally I wouldn’t introduce myself to a clear gang of creepers, but since you already gave me names, I guess I can do the same. I’m Lily. The rabbit’s name is Velveteen. She’s Bella, and last we checked, this is her house.” She gave Sam, the apparently more talkative one, a cold smile. “Is there a reason you’re on my friend’s property?”

Theodore had hoped this day would never come, but it had, and he wasn’t prepared for it. As if being the leader of this little band wasn’t enough, he now had to deal with the rightful owner of the property they had been occupying for years. It was his fault, of course—he hadn’t realized the Zabielskis’ will was missing, though he knew a granddaughter existed. But considering the rest of the family had seemed rich, he had surmised that this estate would go unnoticed.

Oh, how he hated when he was wrong.

Teddy waited, thinking perhaps if he laid low, he could figure out a plan. It seemed, however, that his comrades had other plans, because if he wasn’t mistaking, Aiden had already engaged with their visitors. Dammit. They had to be women—otherwise, he wouldn’t have bothered. As much.

With a heavy sigh, he left his room, which was removed from the ones the others had claimed. He strode down the hallways until he came upon Nate, who was standing at the top of the staircase leading to the foyer. Probably for the best, as it seemed their visitors were humans. Fantastic.

Sam had decided to introduce himself, Nate, and Aiden, and one of their female visitors, decidedly not the one from a picture Aiden had tossed aside years ago, returned the favor. Lily and Bella. Interesting. Of course, he knew the names were common among humans now, but the changes to naming customs still confused and amazed him.

“I’m here, Sam,” he said, placing a hand on Nate’s shoulder, if only to reassure him. If they kept up this charade for much longer, he feared that perhaps the youngest of them would not be able to contain his instincts. Meeting the eyes of Bella, who no doubt belonged to the Zabielski clan, he inclined his head. “I am Theodore. And there is a perfectly logical explanation to why we are here, although I’m not sure how inclined you will be to hear it or believe it.”

He glanced quickly at Sam, silently warning him not to say anything about them being vampires. Who knew what kind of reactions these girls would have to that sort of news…

As a rule, Duncan didn’t get much sleep on a normal basis. Well, at least, that was what the ladies (and some gentlemen) seemed to think, considering his… ahem… activities. So, of course, he was sleeping when his stupid hearing (which was only a blessing if it meant he could tell when a girl really enjoyed what he was doing) picked up the sound of a car in the driveway.

Wait. A car?

Literally rolling of his bed and landing somehow silently in a push-up stance, he pressed his ear to the floor to confirm that he had indeed not been under the influence of something when he heard the car. (Mind you, most controlled substances didn’t seem to work on him anymore, but you could never be too unsure…) Alas, now he was starting to hear voices, including the familiar timbre of his rival. He grinned. Ah, time to show his stuff.

Standing up, he strode out of his room, deciding against putting a shirt on in favor of impressing what he was sure were a pair of female humans. Teddy and Nate were lingering at the top of the stairs, which seemed lame, so he shoved past his “leader” and slid down the banister of the stairs, quickly taking stock of Aiden and Sam’s presence on the ground floor with the two lovely blonds. This was a great day—er, night? What time was it, anyway?

“And what a lovely evening it is, indeedy! I’m Duncan, and whatever that phony Aiden might tell you, I am, in fact, God’s gift to women—they all say so after one night with me.” He grinned and threw out his arms. “I’m not sure why you’re here and I could care less, so long as at least one of the two of you would like to spend a night with me and not with Aiden—have I mentioned I’m prettier than him?—because, frankly, that is all I care about.”

Putting his hands on his hips and waiting for a response from one of the girls, he ignored the sound of Teddy slapping his face in exasperation.

Zach had been in the garden ever since he woke up not too long ago, already a little too pissed to be healthy. Maybe if he punched this tree long enough, he would calm down… but no matter how much he punched it, how much he scraped his knuckles, there was no end to his anger, nor the tree bark, nor his knuckle’s regenerating skin.

He heard the car pull up, alright, but that didn’t mean he was going to go investigate. Still, he was curious to see who the hell would come to this place in the middle of nowhere, so he stormed back inside and to one of the rooms adjacent to the foyer. From the shadows, he watched with clenched fists as two girls who had entered the house met Sam, Aiden, and Nate, followed by Teddy and Duncan. He couldn’t see Nate and Teddy, but he rolled his eyes as Duncan’s entrance, and he knew the feeling was mutual on Teddy’s end.

Of course, he could only hold back for so long. “Why the hell are you all playing nice with these girls? I wanna know who the hell they think they are, walking into our place like this—” he might have missed when the girls introduced themselves “—and what the hell we’re going to do to get them out!” he growled, his fists clenched and ready to punch one of his “brothers.” He glared up at Teddy. “Well, fearless leader? Or are you going to make me play nice with the little girls, too?”

"Evening, ladies."

Bella stilled when a voice-- not Lily's-- filled the foyer. Already mostly across the front room, not far from the hallway that led to the rest of the inner part of the house, Bella already knew it was too late to run. Slowly, she turned, spotting Aiden as he reached the bottom step, shutting the door and shutting herself and Lily in the house with him. As if one male wasn't bad enough, though, another one appeared. He chastised the first guy, Aiden, for being dramatic. He then introduced himself, and pointed out Nate on the balcony above them.

And then he mentioned the others.

"The... who?" Bella's eyes were on Lily, who seemed far calmer than Bella. Lily had that ability, though, to go through her daily life and not be surprised by sudden turn of events. It was something that Bella envied about her friend, though never in a hateful way. "Did you just say the others?" Shifting her gaze from Lily to the male who'd introduced himself as Sam, she drew in a shallow breath. "How many of you people are there?"

She didn't have long to wait before Lily spoke, her voice calm and almost accusatory. She introduced the two of them, and Bella shot her an almost fearful look. Couldn't she have at least given fake names or something?

From the balcony above, another calm voice spoke. Bella twisted, peering up at the two guys above, one of whom hadn't been there before. Bella's head was spinning, but that was nothing compared to what she felt when a shirtless male slid down the banister and hopped off at the end, introducing himself as God's gift to women.

Bella couldn't help it. She scoffed. Then a voice from behind her caused her to jerk back, and she gasped when she spotted the heavily tattooed, obviously angry male. His words irked her nerves, and she narrowed her eyes in his direction. "Excuse me? This is my house. You-" She did a quick glance around, then fixed her gaze back on him. "Six are trespassing. The door is that way."

Nate practically rolled his eyes as Aiden crept down the stairs, shutting and effectively locking the girls inside. Didn't he know that he was probably going to scare them? He started to speak up, to say something, but it was too late. Slinking back into the shadows, he continued to watch as Aiden introduced himself to the girls, a flirty grin present on his lips. Jeez, didn't he think about anything else? Thankfully Sam appeared then, so at least if Aiden was planning on jumping someones bones, Sam would be able to stop him.

For now, at least.

The second blonde girl to enter the house drew Nate's attention, and he moved forward some, reaching out to grasp the banister. Neither girl had screamed when Aiden appeared, which he had to give them credit for, but this girl looked absolutely stunning with her fearless expression. Her tone towards Aiden and Sam actually made him actually crack a grin, especially when he saw the look on Aiden's face.

Sensing another presence in the hall, Nate looked up and spotted Teddy approaching. The pair said nothing to each other as Teddy came to stand beside him, though it wasn't long before he called the attention up to them. Duncan drew the attention away from Teddy as he came out of nowhere, shirtless and sliding down the damn banister like a child. Admittedly, it looked fun, but was now really the time?

Nate didn't move from his position by the banister, especially when Zachary started speaking. Truthfully, Zach and his anger still scared the hell out of Nate, immortality or not. He shrank back some, though could still be seen by those below. "What do we do now?" He asked Teddy, looking over at their leader.

Aiden felt a frown appear on his lips as neither blonde shrieked. Truthfully, he liked the dramatic reactions from humans. They were quite entertaining, and so far with these two, he was disappointed. That feeling was short-lived, however, when the second blonde made her spunk quite clear. The frown disappeared, the flirty smirk reappearing in its place. Teddy, of course, had to come in and ruin all the fun before Aiden could say much more.

And then he appeared. Nearly scowling at Duncan's presence, Aiden crossed his arms over his chest, taking a few steps towards the lanky tattooed vampire. "Did you forget to put a shirt on, Duncan?" Actually growling now, he almost forgot about the girls presence before Zach appeared, angry as always. Turning away from Duncan, Aiden shook his head in Zach's direction.

"We all have to play nice." His eyes landed on Lily, and he took a few steps in her direction, circling her slowly. "Teddy's rules." The way he said it made it sound like it was definitely something he didn't agree on. "Trust me, if I didn't think he'd rip my head off and end my eternal life, I would have already tasted this one." He grinned, fangs on full display for both girls to see.

Well, turns out someone didn't get Teddy's don't-tell-the-girls-we're-vampires memo.

There were times where Sam wondered about his brothers, Aiden and Duncan especially. Sam thought they were going to get into a catfight right then and there, but luckily, Zach's presence distracted the two of them. He thought that Zach's attitude might be the worst that would happen, but honestly, he should have known better. It should have been common sense to hide what they were to the girls, but while the first girl snapped at Zach, Aiden started to circle the second.

And then he smiled, baring his fangs at her.

"You fucking fool." Sam snapped, taking a few steps forward, just in case he had to catch her should she run. "How are you going to do that? Do you not have any brain cells left in that fucking head of yours?" It was obvious Sam was irritated, though angry wasn't far off the horizon. "Do you not give two shits about any of us?"

If somehow even one of these girls got out now and told the world that there were vampires living in this house, it would be bad. Of course, most people probably wouldn't believe them, but there would be those curious souls who would come investigate. Sam and his brothers would have to move yet again, and he knew that they really liked it here.

Turning to Lily, he held up his hands in a mock defensive gesture. "Please, don't overreact."

It seemed none of these strangers were inclined to answer her question, but the “others” that Sam had referred to finally appeared. The apparent leader was with Adorable Guy, a shirtless man amused and also creeped her out with his innuendo-filled introduction (nice abs, though), and some Angry Bro called them “little girls”. Admittedly, he was significantly taller than her, so perhaps that was accurate from his standpoint, but still… did her rabbit Velveteen really make her seem that young?

In any case, the leader, Theodore, of all of them, seemed most likely to answer her questions, but she didn’t get the chance to reiterate her concerns because Aiden started… fighting with the shirtless guy, Duncan? What?

Before she could process what was clearly a pissing contest between two fucktards, she realized Aiden was circling her, as a predator would its prey. Then she latched on to the words “eternal life,” and she realized exactly what was going on here.

His fangs did not, in fact, surprise her.

She did not, in fact, overreact, as Sam seemed to fear.

What she did do, was groan. Loudly. “Seriously? Vampires? Really. That’s what this is? You’d think reality would cut me some slack and not give me something so boring, but noooo.” She raised an eyebrow at Aiden. “What were you trying to do? Make me pee my pants? Because you are certainly not getting a ‘taste’ of me anytime soon.”

With a sigh, she considered her options. They were vampires, so they could easily catch her and Bella if they ran deeper into the house. But if one of them could get out, then maybe she could get help. Lily had read all of this before—if she and Bella stuck together, they were doomed. If they were apart, though, they might just have a chance.

Welp. It looked like she was going to have to ride the Predictable Train today.

“It seems a game of hide and seek is in order,” she announced, sidestepping toward Bella. “Find me, I guess you can bite me. But I might try to kill you instead. I don’t exactly play around. And besides—” here, she grinned, “—I hear orphans like me are a pain in the ass to chase.”

Chucking her rabbit at Aiden, who was currently her greatest threat, (I will come back for you, Velveteen!) she spun on her heels and sprinted toward Bella, pushing her toward the hallway. Once they were halfway down the hall and Lily was sure she had stunned the vampires enough, she glanced at Bella. “Try to find a back exit,” she said. “I’ll lead them away.” Knowing her friend would protest leaving her with vampires, she smiled wickedly. “I’m going to give them a little hell.”

Splitting off from Bella, she ducked into what appeared to be a kitchen. Intending to draw attention away from Bella, she threw down all the pots and pans and made a lot of noise, which was her specialty when she was a child. Then, finding what appeared to be a servant stairway (Aha! All houses like these had one!), she pounded up it, finding herself in a strange upstairs hallway. She took off toward what appeared to be the back of the house, not hearing any signs of pursuit, but not entirely sure she wasn’t being pursued. Of course, the hallway turned, and she nearly slipped while rounding the corner, but when this hallway led to a dead end, she did slip, banging into the window and the surrounding wall. “Dammit,” she muttered, holding her shoulder. Glancing out the window, she spotted a vast garden, but below the window was no foliage of any kind.

So. To jump or not to jump?

Now would’ve been a great time for one of the vampires to show up. Not.

She was definitely screwed.

Well, Duncan and Zachary’s entrances certainly did very little to make the situation better. Teddy supposed that in some way, he loved his strange band of brothers, but it was moments like this that he was reminded why he hadn’t wanted a band in the first place. Still, he was stuck with them, so he might as well try to make do with what they’d done here.

The Zabielski girl, Bella, seemed a tad overwhelmed by the presence of so many of them. If they had appeared all at once, perhaps it would’ve been easier on her, but considering how they had chosen to appear separately instead, well. He understood. After Zach’s appearance, however, she seemed to regain her own fire and told them that this was her house. Well. She was right, wasn’t she?

At Nate’s question, Teddy pretended not to notice that the boy was shrinking back as he said, “We wait. I’ll step in if and only if I need to.”

A few seconds later, he needed to.

Aiden bared his fangs at the other girl, Lily, causing Sam to start chastising him. Teddy growled, a sound he didn’t often make, as he made a point of not getting angry all that often (that was what Zachary was for). “Aiden,” he shouted. “Are you so hungry you couldn’t even hold back from them for five seconds?”

And yet… oddly enough, Lily wasn’t very surprised by this. That was… a relief? Yes, sure, a relief. But her reaction was strange, and so, he paused in his movement to go punch Aiden. Then the girl was announcing a game of hide and seek and tossing her rabbit at his idiotic brother.

Then she and Bella were gone.

Teddy knew, logically, that he was faster than either girl, but he also knew that if Lily wasn’t surprised about their being vampires, she must’ve been a smart cookie. It took him a moment, but he soon realized what he had to do. “Aiden, Duncan, and Zachary especially, you all stay here, in case either of them comes back here. Nate, look around upstairs. I wouldn’t put it past the one girl to come up here. But don’t lose yourself if you find her.” He gave Nate a hard stare, knowing that whatever happened to him would happen to him, but he certainly hoped his young vampire bloodlust wouldn’t overtake him. Using his speed to go down the stairs, he stopped next to Sam. “We’re going to find the Zabielski girl and try to calm her down. I doubt any of the others left here will be able to do that. Let’s go.”

He took off down the hallway, only to stop when it split. He knew one way led to the kitchen, and the other led to the garden, which could indeed be a means of escape.

She had to be there.

“This way,” he said to Sam, before walking away. He didn’t need to run to catch a human.

It was unfortunate, really, that his entrance didn’t have as big a splash as he was hoping, but he did at least earn a scoff from the one girl before Zach interrupted him. Tch.

He did, however, succeed in pissing off Aiden, which was always the plan. “Of course I didn’t forget a shirt. I just didn’t feel like wearing one.” The blond who had scoffed got angry and told them this was her house and that they should leave. Duncan smirked, but not before Aiden started acting like a douche. First he mentioned the eternal life, then he said something about tasting the other girl, and then he showed the girls his fangs.

Ohohoho, he messed up bad. While Sam yelled at him, Duncan laughed and shook his head. “Man, and I didn’t think you could get any dumber, Aiden.

At least the girl Aiden apparently wanted to bite didn’t freak out. In fact, she was calmer than anyone should be when they find out a bunch of guys squatting in your house were vampires.

Of course, she ended up running with her friend down the hallway behind them, but not before throwing her stuffed rabbit at Aiden. Snorting, Duncan leaned against the door and said, “That’s what you get for trying to scare her, man.” Teddy told him, Aiden, and Zach to stay there while he and Sam went after the girls and Nate searched the upstairs. Glancing at the door, Duncan grinned and murmured, “Well, I’ll still be in the vicinity…” He opened the door and stepped outside, taking a good look at the car.

The girls couldn’t drive away if the car’s tires were slashed, now, could they?

Frankly, he wasn’t expecting the one girl to fight back against him. Usually, when Zach got angry, the others either walked away from him in frustration or, in Nate’s case, shrank back from him. But the girl instead claimed this was her house (what was that about?) and told them all to leave. He scoffed and averted his eyes. He wasn’t about to punch a girl for talking back to him.

Aiden, however…

That prick started stalking around the other girl, and in a few seconds he was baring his fangs at the girls, which even Zach wasn’t dumb enough to do. Sam, thankfully, decided to be the angry one for once, and he was the one who yelled at Aiden before telling the girl not to freak out.

Which, to give her credit, she didn’t do.

But she did end up running away with her friend.

Well, that was just GREAT! Teddy told him, Aiden, and Duncan to stay in the foyer while he and Sam looked for the girls. Nate was to stay upstairs in case either of them went up there. Duncan did not listen to this for long and stepped outside, presumably to check out their car.

If he wasn’t going to listen to Teddy, then Zach certainly wasn’t.

He went back the way he came, back out to the garden, rounding the corner of the house and leaning against the wall. Without meaning to, he growled, but then he thought he heard something. Glancing up, he spotted a window, and what appeared to be one of the blond girls slamming into it. He snorted and looked away. Nate could take care of it.

Had Bella been anything like Lily, maybe she would have seen this coming. But the truth of the matter was-- she wasn't like Lily. Sure, the girls shared similarities, but they were also quite different in certain aspects, which is something that brought them close. So as one of the guys started circling Lily like he was planning on making her his next meal, Bella freaked. "Hey!" She whirled away from the tall tattooed male, her eyes flashing with anger. "You-"

The anger in her eyes disappeared quickly as she saw the fangs. The term eternal life had floated into her mind and right back out, but those... she couldn't unsee or ignore those. As she gaped, though, Lily took over speaking for the both of them. She didn't seem surprised or even frightened at all. Bella found herself wishing again for her friends courage. Bella felt as though she were more like a cat... content to be in her own space, but when backed into a corner, the claws came out.

"You're-" Lily said the word for her. Vampires. Bella's gaze shifted around to each of the men in turn, her gaze falling on the bigger of the two upstairs last. Lily's mind was already racing, trying to figure out a way out of this, whereas Bella seemed to be stuck. The plan was set in motion as Lily sidestepped towards her friend, and then hurled her favorite bunny towards one of the guys.

Next thing she knew, Lily was pushing Bella towards the hallway. Wrenching her gaze away from the vampire upstairs, Bella regained her footing and fled with Lily, fully prepared to find an exit with her friend. When it became clear that Lily wasn't planning on staying together, of course Bella protested. But there wasn't time to argue, and the girls split. Bella heard her making a bunch of racket but didn't look back.

It didn't take her long to find the exit. Shoving the door open, giving a split second thanks that it was unlocked, she could have kissed the fresh air. But almost as soon as she stepped out into the grass, she stopped. There was absolutely no way she could leave Lily trapped in there. Not after everything they'd been through.

Without giving it another thought, Bella turned and waltzed back into the house. It wasn't that long of a trek back towards the kitchen, but unfortunately, she rounded a corner and almost smacked right into Teddy's chest. "No, no, no!" Bella shrieked, immediately backing up. She looked around wildly, but there was nothing she could use as a weapon.

Except...

Without warning, she took off her shoes and held them up, heels pointed out towards Teddy and Sam who stood behind him. "Back off!"

Nate frowned. Not because of what Teddy said, but because of how shit went downhill so fast. Honestly, he could have thought of a million ways things could have been handled differently, but Aiden was his own vampire. He hated the fact that Teddy had taken on a leader role, but he also hated the idea of going out on his own, so he stuck around. Whether that was all that kept him here, Nate wasn't sure, but he'd seen the pair butt heads more than he could count.

Nate was so focused on Aiden and Teddy now that when the girls took off towards the kitchen, he almost missed it. Interested despite himself, he leaned forward, as Teddy barked at Aiden and then instructed him, Duncan, and Zachary to stay put. When Teddy's words were directed at him, Nate's head swiveled in his direction, eyes fearful. Why was Teddy leaving him alone up here? Not that Nate couldn't take on a human girl or two, but...

Before he could say a word, Teddy was gone, heading downstairs. Nate swallowed heavily, watching the others disperse. Nate gripped the railing tightly, hoping and praying even that the girls would be smarter than to come up here. But when he heard footsteps on the servants stairway, he felt all the hope in him diminish. He went pale.

Turning towards the staircase, he swallowed heavily as he heard her step out into the halls. She fled, which was smart of her, and he knew he had to follow. He heard her hit the window just as he rounded the corner and spotted her. She was trapped, with nowhere to go.

Something about that woke up his predator instincts.

His eyes flashed red. "Please, don't run." He told her, trying to keep the shake out of his voice. But the shaking now stemmed from something other than fear: hunger. She hadn't seemed to have really hurt herself when slamming into the window-- at least, he smelled no fresh blood. But the blood rushing through her veins under her skin called to him, and made his fangs ache. "I-if you just wait here until Teddy comes back, we can sort this all out."

Right?

The seconds ticked by, though, and suddenly he realized he'd closed half of the distance between them. He was staring; he couldn't help it. "You... you smell really good..." Had he been on the other side of the hall, he would have creeped himself out.

He couldn't take it.

He needed to feed.

He was starving.

Shit hit the fan after he exposed them. He hadn't quite expected things to go that way, though. Truthfully, he liked instilling fear in his victims, so when Lily didn't show any-- well at first, he was just confused. The other girl had noticed his fangs, and her reaction was appropriate. But this one? Not even a flinch. After his initial shock passed, though, he realized that he kinda liked that she hadn't shown fear. It was different, and it made him more curious about her.

Of course, Teddy was pissed at him, but what else was new? "Oh, you know I'm starving. We all are." Aiden shot Teddy an annoyed look, but then looked at the others. "Don't be quiet now that he's around, go on, tell him." But before anyone could comment for or against him, Lily had shoved Bella towards the kitchen and they were gone.

Oh, they wanted to play.

Teddy ruined his chances before he could even move a muscle. Damn him. Growling in anger, he followed Duncan outside, crossing his arms over his chest. He saw where the other vampire was looking, and quirked a brow at him, his own brain coming to the same conclusion. "Tires, or you could cut some wires." He shrugged, heading for the vehicle himself. Not that he and Duncan were friends; not even close. But they could think alike sometimes, yeah? "Or just take the battery out."

To Sam's surprise, the girl didn't overreact. Hell, she barely reacted, which was new to him. Leave it to Aiden to out them, though. Sam guessed inwardly that it would have either been him or Duncan, honestly. When the girls ran off, he sighed, craning his head back to look at Teddy who was already giving orders. And this is why he was the leader, and they listened to him. He'd kept them alive thus far, and Sam had a hunch that he could do it for a long time.

Nodding as Teddy appeared downstairs, he followed the leader vampire down the hall, not in any type of hurry. He could hear one girl deeper in the house, but the other... she'd gone towards the back door. He didn't have to tell Teddy that, though, so he just followed him down the hall towards said door.

It did come as a surprise to him when the girl came hauling ass around the corner, though, almost crashing into Teddy. Stepping beside and a little behind Teddy, he watched as she took off her shoes and held them up as weapons. Yelling at them to back off, she backed up, now completely barefoot on the hardwood floors.

He pursed his lips, glancing over at Teddy. He didn't know if 'we come in peace' was appropriate here. Glancing back at the girl, Bella as she'd been introduced as, he saw the fire in her and found it interesting. Both girls were interesting, in very different ways. "Bella, we won't hurt you." Well, not really. A vampire's bite might hurt a little at first, but it could also be a pleasant experience, if the human was willing.

Okay, whose bright idea was it to send the adorable one after her? As soon as Nate rounded the corner after her, Lily inwardly groaned. It was hard to be scared of something that was like a human (well, vampire) version of Velveteen. Even the eyes flashing red didn’t alarm her because he was so adorable.

Still, her natural sarcasm couldn’t help but bleed through. With a snort, and still holding her shoulder, she said, “I couldn’t run even if I wanted to.” Raising an eyebrow at his shaking voice, she added, “I’m sure we could, but it seems a little unlikely at this point. Especially if any of your friends hurt Bella.”

Before she’d realized, he was closing the distance between them. Then he was commenting on her smell, which normally, coming from a member of the opposite sex, meant the guy was either a pervert or was about to feel her up (which they never succeeded in). But she had a feeling this was more of a food thing rather than a creepy thing.

Then it hit her.

This guy was a new vampire, wasn’t he?

Shit.

One moment, he was standing in front of her, and the next, he was lunging at her. Since she was already pressed against the window, she was slammed further against it, and she heard it crack from the pressure. There were fangs in front of her, taking up her vision, and all of her coolness and book knowledge flew from her mind.

But of course, with the increasing pressure against the cracking window (she was apparently heavier than she thought), it wasn’t soon before she was basically pushed out the window.

She wasn’t expecting that. How surprising.

As she fell through the air, barely registering any pain she might have felt, she wondered exactly how far the drop was.

The ground came before she knew it, and the breath was knocked out of her—

Teddy really didn’t need to run to catch a human, because not too long after he’d started down this hallway, Bella rounded a corner and nearly smacked into him. She shrieked, clearly hoping she wouldn’t run into him. It didn’t take long for her to take off her shoes and aim them at him and Sam, yelling at them to back off.

Well. Okay.

Sam assured her that they wouldn’t hurt her, and Teddy nodded in agreement. He wasn’t quite sure what to say either, but he was hoping this wouldn’t end in a bloodbath, at least. Aiden hadn’t been wrong, exactly. Because of how careful they were, they weren’t exactly well fed for vampires.

He opened his mouth to say something, but then he heard the crash from the window upstairs. Had the other girl leaped through in a desperate survival attempt? Teddy immediately ran outside, ignoring Bella, and around the house to see.

Oh, dear.

There was a lot of blood. The other girl was lying on the ground, clearly unconscious, but she wasn’t making a sound. His ears told him, however, that her heart was pumping, at least, but her breaths were a little shallow.

Glancing up at the window, where Nate was, he groaned. What had he done?
