Pokémon Supreme

Hello, and welcome to the world of Pokémon! What's that? You don't know what a Pokémon is? What, been sleeping under a rock or something? Then let me have the honor to enlighten you my young friend! Pokémon as we know them, are mysterious creatures living in a fantastical world filled with wonders! A Pokémon can be an ally, a partner, but most importantly, a friend. We have studied these creatures for years, and yet we believe to only have discovered a fraction of what they're hiding!

Oh where are my manners! I haven't even told you my name! Name's Professor Spruce, but please, call me Spruce, or Sprucy, many of my colleagues like to say that silly nickname. But enough about me, I am here today to tell you about something exciting, namely the unexplored lands of Telon Region, your home! I thought the rumours weren't true at first, but this is indeed the kind of place to find Pokémon beyond their own normal capabilities! This Region, as you may already know, are quite the harsh kind. For over a solid year I have been studying the wonders of these envoirments affecting the Pokémon we know in new ways, we have already seen examples from Alola and all the way over to Galar! So why am I telling you this? Well that is easy to answer; in short, I am in desperate need for helpers, enthusiastic young people with the dreams of becoming something bigger. I want you to traverse the lands of your region, cross the terrains and explore. In my eyes you ave the potential to be a Pokémon Trainer, not just any kind of trainer but someone with a great duty, a purpose!

Am I asking for a lot? Yes, absolutely, which is why I will make sure you as a Pokémon Trainer will be able to use this opportunity to not only capture Pokémon, but to allow yourself to grow and bond with your partners. Telon Region is quite huge, and has for many various reasons not been the most ideal place to start an adventure. The gyms have been just recently established, the League has been refurnished and Telon has finally built a city to call it their capital, finally Telon are being marked on the world map! But we lack trainers to represent us, we need to grow at a rapid rate and that is part of my work as a Professor for Telon Region.

I hope to have a chat with you soon, in best regards!

-Professor Spruce

---------OOC---------

Hello again and thank you for reading and showing interest to my newest project.

This is a group focused Roleplay World where it takes the Fandom Pokémon into a whole new chapter. It takes place in the Canon world aka the one being represented in the mainline games.

Telon Region is a 100% original creation where I have spent time to develope a Region that are comptable to a Roleplay format. My aim with the roleplay is to have at least 4 participants (Maximum 6) that will either travel together or alone if they desire so. The world is an active one with events and unique places that will serve for a great amount of content to explore. Everyone are labelled as Pokémon Trainer by default but I have made sure to keep it open as possible for other roles to partake the stories. Meaning, you can focus on being different classes, almost a DnD esque type. Examples being Pokémon Breeder/ Nurse/ Contestant etc.

I am of course taking the role as a DM, mostly to make sure it's all fair games and dynamic as the roleplayer explores. I have quite a lot to say for this project, both what I have in store and what I am ptoentially bringing to the future, and if you haven't noticed yet, this is a BIG definite long term roleplay. And with such a huge project going on I think it's best for me to organize this world on a Discord Server, an invite link will be given once you create a character.

A list of stuff I got ready:

Map+Towns+Unique Places
Battles+Gym Leaders+Elite Four
Catching System+Level Caps
Antagonist+Rivalry+Conflicts
Three Arcs Of Storyline

A list of unique stuff to this RP:

Class Based Characters
New Evolutions (Inspired by Totem Pokémon)
Character Designs
PokémonShowdown /or/ Roleplay Battles (the choice is yours)
Dynamic Travel Methods (Means that travelling has certain limits depending on day and time)
Massive Starter Pool

Requirements

Apologies if I sound a bit strict on this part, but it is very crucial that you as a roleplayer fulfill these requirements.
For one; you NEED to be an actual Pokémon fan, and I don't mean someone who has just played one or two games, but that actually knows how things work. (Because there is quite a lot to include)
You also need to be able to write out actions in a single post, instead of writing one line of action and wait for the DM you instead try various things and give a form of mass to the post for others to read. It is very encouraged that you are a somewhat experienced Roleplayer.
And lastly, you are required to be respectful, things won't always go your character's way, no one in the group will be treated as a Protagonist, instead I treat the enterity of the group as one that supports eachother. If you wanna try to be a Red then you pretty much have to earn it through real hard work, but that hard work can only be achieved if you got an opposing force to grow from.

As for character template, I think I will wait on that part. For now I'd like to see the interest check and potentially get a bit of a discussion going on, I wanna answer questions because there is no way I have covered everything essential! I will show the map I got planned right below, just to give a slight preview of Telon Region.

Hello! I’m very interested in this. I’ve actually been kind of lurking for more Pokemon based rps. I do have a question though. When you say try various things in regards to actions, do you mean have different potential actions lined up and have someone (presumedly the DM) pick one, or just have your character do several things in progression per post?

Essentially I just expect the player to be able to write actions that are not super crucial for the DM to say yes for. Example; Wanna treat your pokemon? Write the process, flavor how it goes, expand on the information and even include neat details of your character along the way, instead of just writing ''Player A treated their pokemon''

But I am not opposed topotential actions lined up, but I think it's way easier for me to let the players try as much they want and allow me to enter in to correct them. TL; DR assume everything reasonable is allowed until the DM says otherwise.

Where did all the Pokemon RPs go?

Ah, I see one.

I have some character ideas up my head, but which ones I'm willing to execute depends on the broadness of the starter choices, and how friendly the setting is to type specialists.

Fucking 👏 let's go! I've been playing pokemon since Fire Red and Leaf Green and I haven't missed a game since! First off, I want to say that that is a great map you've got there! Really nice, I like it! I'm thinking I might play a hardcore bug-type fanatic, but like Crow said I'll wait until the starters are revealed before I set anything in stone. I'm always down for cool, homemade Pokemon stuff like this.

I am very much happy to see people interested in my written idea!

You all are probably just wanting to know what Pokemon are available, well truth be told, there is a lot,so many that you have more than enough variety to go on.

Basically I open up every single Pokemon with two evolution stages and give you players a few options on how to obtain said Pokemon.

First option is simply rolling a die three times, from the three random choices you get to pick one of the starters.

Second option is that you pick a single Pokemon Type, then I will roll a die to see who you get.

And finally, the third option, incase you guys are not a fan of the two first, is that you just pick from the pool, full freedom. (This can only be done if everyone gets to do it)

Also it's up to you as the player to decide if you want your starter to be unique, so that no one else can have the same Pokemon.

Oh yes, that variety's more than enough.

Since this RP's gonna introduce exclusive evolutions, will said evolutions be accounted for?

Say for example, canonically Sentret is a 2-stager. This RP introduces an evolution to Furret, so Sentret now has 2 evolved forms. Does this make Sentret a selectable starter?

And finally, the third option, incase you guys are not a fan of the two first, is that you just pick from the pool, full freedom. (This can only be done if everyone gets to do it)

I think this is my most preferred option. The three stage mon only option is balance enough, if balance is the aim.

What I got planned for those added evolutions to be more exclusive to the wild, and obviously I dont have the resources to design an evo stage for every reasonable choice among the pokemon.

My best advice is to get an already three stage Pokemon as a starter and then later on be able to get these unique evolutions through great training. Even a three stage Pokemon can get a fourth (And this sorta includes Mega Evolutions minus the megastone part)

I’d prefer the third option as well. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think it’d be more fun for everyone if they didn’t immediately start off with a Pokémon they weren’t happy with.

I would love to play in a game like this! Your world design looks great and I'm super interested to see where this will go. I'll start brainstorming ideas for a trainer! I'm guessing we will be starting at the "bottom" of experience levels? We will literally just be getting our first Pokemon and starting our journey, yes? Will we be roleplaying getting our starters, or will we be directly hopping in to the game?

I'd say we take game elements but using them on a pacing similar to the Manga (bonus points if you guys know of the Manga, it has a wonderful flow with the story).

The start of the roleplay is gonna be classic, meaning the day when they start their journey/recieving their Pokemon.

🙌 I would absolutely love to be involved in this! I've always been a fan of Pokemon RPs but none have them have lasted more than a couple months. However, this interest check already seems to have more effort in it than most of the Pokemon RPs I've seen. I am very interested!🙌

Okay so I have gotten the very simple character template done, and classes simplified too, but I'd like second opinions, maybe to spot a loophole (chances stack by the way)

Name: (Self explanatory)
Description: (Describe how your character looks like and behave, can be done through references)
Class: Ace/Breeder/Nurse/Fisher/Ranger/Contestant/Backpacker/Tamer/Hex/Expert/Maniac/Medium
Personal Goal: (The big motivation for your character)
Type Specialty: (Self explanatory, only means that your character are closer to the type and have a higher chance of getting Pokemon of that type)
Pokemon#1 Pokemon#2 Pokemon#3 Pokemon#4 Pokemon#5 Pokemon#6

Classes

Ace- The All-Rounder, good at battling and the go-to choice for competitions, you level your PKMN faster.
Breeder- Mundane specialist, able to hatch eggs and harvest various items such as berries and held-items.
Nurse- Specialist in healing hurt PKMN and people with ease, a living Poke Center therefore does not need items.

And welcome! Didn't see you had messaged, glad you are very much interested :)

I think the classes look pretty good, but do you think the type specific ones might be a little limited? I know there are other type specific trainers out there, like bird keepers and maybe rock/ground for hikers. Not saying you should add more or there’s anything wrong with what you’ve got, just a thought.

The character template looks really good! I have a very similar question to Skipper's. As someone who is obsessed with ground type pokemon I gotta ask, would there be a class specialization for every type of pokemon? Like Tamer or Hex equivalents for all the other types?

If people desire the full package then I dont mind doing so, didn't want to overwhelm at start. :)

That makes for two people, I can safely assume the rest want the full package!

In the template there's class and type specialty, and there's classes based on certain type. Does this mean we can stack the bonus from class and type specialty?

I have been contemplating to replace specialty with the type specific classes, but I have initially wanted for the chance increases to stack yes.
