"The dwarves of Falkaiden are a sturdy lot. The stereotypes hold true: they are a stubborn people whose primary concerns are honour and death. In their great halls of stone, their artisans carve the names of the newly deceased into thick slabs of marble with sickly smiles. For nothing can come before one's dutiful sacrifice for a cause. Those who tarnish this dwarven creed soon learn the error of their ways. They are cast out from society and forced to live in the surrounding desert wasteland, barrens home to vicious monsters and savage beasts. A place where vegetation and water are scarcities.

But the dwarves of Falkaiden are a sturdy lot. The first outcasts soon developed their own functioning settlements near small plots of land where resources could be had. They were far from trading empires, of course, but each settlement was similar in size to a small village. One settlement, Faldefel, even resembled a long-neglected town. The outcast dwarves managed to eke out a living by the most primitive methods: hunting and gathering. Farming also became a large part of the outcast culture later on, near sites close to an almost bountiful source of water. Eventually travellers came to stop at the outcasts' minuscule institutions for food, shelter or supplies, further establishing their economy and boosting trade in the area. The dirty villages surrounding Falkaiden, allowing trade over great distances to take place, soon became an essential element of the mountain city's economy.

Life, for a brief moment, appeared almost normal to the outcasts. Survival was no longer a fantasy; their future was no longer bleak. Success of any kind attracts attention, however, and soon greedy eyes set their sights on the outcast settlements. In the smallest settlement, on the eastern edge of the Kallerkrag region, in Sudanib, the future looks very bleak."

I'm looking for two or three other players to engage in a roleplay where you take on the role of a dwarven outcast trying to survive (or prevent) an attack on a village by an unknown band of marauders. A more complex narrative and plot will follow as the story progresses, but at this point I'd like to keep the nature of the attackers a secret to be revealed later on.

Characters would have to be dwarves, preferably, but, if you really don't want to play a dwarf, other options include: gnome, elf, half-elf, orc, half-orc, human. Dwarves (and orcs and half-orcs) aren't adept at using magic in this world, so they'd be non-magic users. You'd also have to invent a reason why your character is outcast if they're a dwarf. They can either be born into an outcast family, outcast by choice, or forcibly removed from the capital Falkaiden. Those are the only "restrictions" on characters. Everything else is up to you.

Please let me know if you're interested here and I'll post a character sheet thread later.
