The Red Ribbon Pirate

Andar Jaranath
Beastbound Master
A seedy bar on Lil' Amyth Island

The fight started and ended like a summer storm; violent, fierce, yet ended before it started. Even so, it was sufficient for Andar. Nessy said Lady Aquarius was benevolent and her mercy infinite, but the ocean, he knew, was not. Strength was a necessity to survive in the violent ocean. He had no plan to babysit, nor be saddled with burdens.

But everyone left him surprised, ah. Andar watched the whole cacophony as if they had nothing to do with him. The spearsman was a force to be reckoned with. He showed no hesitation in drawing his spear and did not flinch from being hurt. Really a seasoned fighter. Ah, a pity his footwork was horrible, but it still ranked him high in his eyes. Hm.

Andar tilted his head aside to avoid a bottle from flying to his head. The jokester livens up to his nickname, mused Andar. His movement had a animated jankiness that made anything he did look comical. Cute. Even his horrified scream from an incoming attacker invited a laugh when it disappeared like smoke once he noticed Nessy saved him. And Andar did laugh.

"It's fine to be carefree when there's no danger, ah." Andar responded to Higo between his laughs. It was all too amusing to see his inner thoughts honestly reflected on his face. "Fish-men are 10 times stronger than humans from birth, so she will be fine even without knowing how to fight. Your friend there, the spearsman, he's great, great. Might even beat me if he can fix his footwork. As for the others--"

Just at that moment, a pirate went flying in front of them, crashing on a table with such force it broke it. Andar followed Higo's finger, drawing a trajectory in the air, and ended with Alicia. Again, he was terribly amused. "Why impossible, ah? I think she can lift a marine ship if she has a good grip. Strong woman, the maid. Ah, the mother hiding behind her isn't bad, too. At least she knows how to pick a strong backer. And whoever those two girls are, decent." The last nod was given at Aya and Nicole.

Then, an invisible tempest turned a furious red. Scarlet Johannah Indigrid. Andar merely smiled in response to her inquiry. It never actually mattered how convinced he was. It just determined how loyal to the crew he would be. He was always ready to abandon ship. Everyone here, Nessy and Roam included, was not as important as Shu, Bos, and Ramphasti in his heart. Knowing the crew could somewhat fend themselves mean he could trust them to fight a bit. As for Captain John Spades...

The Red Ribbon Pirate isn't the Crew of Spades, ah. No need to think about it.

Andar raised to his feet and stretched his back. The scale-like hairs on his body stood and his golden scales glimmered. With a drunken smile, he gave Scarlet a lackadaiscal salute, and sent his gaze around the room. This was it, the Red Ribbon Pirate. "Welcome aboard, Captain. My ship is yours, except for my room and the insect room.

"call me Andar, Andar. Iskandar makes me feel like the marines are after me. Let's not drink here and just brings barrels onboard," he said to Nicole before glancing at the jewel Nessy put on the table. "That jewel should be enough to get everything and some, ah. The barkeep can take from anyone here if it's still not enough. Everyone that can bring something! Alicia, Higo-chan, Aya, Nicole, Nessy, everyone!"

Andar kept laughing, as if finding the whole situation hilarious, and led the charge into the kitchen to take two large barrels. One filled with ale, the other with food. He lifted them easily, but their size made it difficult to grab more than two. His drunken steps toward the exit was halted by Arabella's introduction. Andar turned at the door. His smile, irresolute and frivolous, reached his eyes. "Ah, I'm the Beastbound Master now, but when I was the Beastbound Captain, I never had people for crew. It's always a hassle with people since you never know what they think, ah. Like when someone joins a pirate crew while insisting she isn't a pirate. Really strange and makes one question, ah, if she has another motive."

His gaze locked onto Arabella. Playful. Lighthearted. "It's troublesome if you betray us or secretly contact the marine, so I'll feed you to Bos if that happens. The same with the rest, ah. Traitors are a waste, so it's better to be Bos' snack. Praise be Aquarius!"

With the name of the Goddess spoken in vain, Andar continued laughing and cheerfully left the establishment.

Higo, finally coming down from the rapid development of the battle, brought his hands back down his side. He had many thoughts swirling around in his head about this Scarlet woman and her connection to a Yonko, but if he was to be traveling with her, they sure were to be answered in time. These thoughts were interrupted as the sound of a pained scream reached his ears, his head snapped back around at the right time to see a poor pirate get his coin purse tightly clutched.

Higo’s eyes went glossy as he imagined hands tightly squeezing lemon’s to pull out the juice for a fresh cup of lemonade, the ice clattering against the glass…

He tried to turn his focus away from the ongoing torture happening right in front of him as Mary brought attention to one of the pirates who was collapsed on the floor. On closer inspection, she was completely right, he was completely uninjured. “Hmmm, faking your defeat when things are looking sketchy, that’s not a bad idea,” Higo thought, taking a mental note of that tactic. “Besides that, it’s good Big Blue noticed that. If someone with a dangerous plan did that, it could be bad,” he noted, glancing back over at the tall woman. “I suppose having someone look over all the action isn't completely useless,” He accepted. Another shrill scream came from the pirate still entrapped in the demonic claw grip that cut through his thoughts. Higo couldn’t help but look over again, as his eyes misted over once more.

Freshly rolled balls of dough getting harshly pushed flat against the table…

As the man was finally released from the cruel grapple, a single tear shed from Higo’s eye, running down his cheek over the heart sticker on his face. He didn't say anything as he turned away.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a scene that he didn’t believe deserved his full attention. That woman who initially introduced him to this opportunity, Nerissa, was currently engrossed in attending to the wounds of an enemy. Seeing this, he clicked his teeth, Why would the woman waste resources on helping someone who tried to attack her. Though, he couldn’t exactly be surprised, based on the books she was looking at and the fact she was basically handing out gems, he had already pegged her as a weird one. He could only hope that her concepts of ‘kindness’ and ‘forgiveness’ didn’t pollute the rest of the crew. These people were supposed to be pirates, scourges of the sea, not some clergy.

As proper introductions began, Higo was quiet as he took note of names, faces, and their skills. Flashy Hair was apparently a musician, not much of a surprise there. He couldn’t say he was excited to listen to her music, he doubted it would be to his taste. The shy one, unsurprisingly, could do things that a maid would do, but if what he saw and what Iskandar said reigns true, Muscle Maid could end up being a pretty useful ability. He had to wonder where she got her strength from, Did she consume a Devil Fruit, or could it be something else? Questions for later.

As his eyes traced over the bar once more, his pupils paused as he saw the scene of Arabell pouring alcohol over the wounded pirates with a bone-chilling smile on her face. Higo gave an awkward smile at this, sweat going down the side of his face. “Scary…” He thought he hadn’t paid much attention to the woman until now, but clearly she was someone he didn’t wanna get on the bad side of.

“This crew is sure filled with colorful characters, isn’t that right Cher?” Higo said, expecting his companion to respond. However, he got nothing but silence. “Right, Cher?” He repeated, still wearing a grin. Only for it to flatten when he still didn’t get a response. “Oi, what’s the problem with you-” Higo began, turning to face Cherluca with the intent of chewing him out for his silence, but his words froze in his mouth as he finally got a look at him. One of the most noticeable features of Cherluca was his eyes, so it wasn’t hard to see how unfocused and distant his look was. He was clearly out of it. Higo placed a hand on his chin, He had no clue what could have caused him to enter this state. Did something happen during the battle that he had missed? “Maybe he feels like he didn’t do well in the fight? Or maybe I was a little too harsh when I told him to stay away from me…” Higo pondered, completely missing the mark. He was completely oblivious to what Cherluca was thinking about, but he couldn’t exactly just stand there and not do anything. It was gonna be a shot in the dark, but he’ll try something.

Spitting into both of his hands, he vigorously rubbed them together before spreading them out, raising them to align with Cherluca’s head, and bringing them soaring to Cherluca’s temples, slapping against them tightly with a resounding clap throughout the whole bar. Within that moment, he crouched down to slam his forehead against Cherluca’s, looking right into his eyes with a steady glare. “Stop focusing so much on things in the past you idiot! You’re still alive aren’t you!? You can’t change what’s happened, but you have plenty of time to mold your future! If you don’t like something, become the one who changes it!” Higo screamed out, unblinking as he looked directly into Cherluca’s eyes. “That’s what a man does!”

Getting his point across, he let go of him, standing back up straight as he rubbed what little blood he got on his hands off on his sleeve. While right now he had a dignified expression on his face, internally he was insanely worried. “I have no idea what the problem is, I sure hope I didn’t miss the mark! I’ll look like a complete clown!” He turned around, biting on his thumb nervously. “I tried to keep it vague so it would work in most situations…”

Luckily for him, before he could worry too much, Arabell had made her way over and started to examine Cherluca. For a brief moment, Higo was cautious that the woman would do something weird to his confidant, but it seemed like she was an actual proper doctor. Thinking back on her pouring those bottles on those pirates, Higo silently prayed that he wouldn't get injured anytime soon. He wasn’t one to participate in fights, so he doubted it, but you never know.

“Treat him well, will ya?” Higo said to Arabell, his eyes focusing for a brief moment. It was a genuine statement from the man. Even though Cherluca didn’t have any major injuries, his health was important to Higo. “Be careful lookin' into those eyes of his though, they bore into your soul!” His expression returned to its normal laxness, cracking a joke.

His fixation on the doctor and spearman was briefly broken as he distinctly heard ‘Higo-chan’ from Iskandar, his pupils turned almost catlike as a shadow went over the top half of his face and his nose scrunched up and lips tightened. “Higo….chan?” He replayed in his head.

Spinning around, Higo pointed a finger with an annoyed expression on his face, “WHO DO YOU THINK YOU’RE CALLING HIGO-CHAN!?” He shouted towards Iskandar, only to have his finger deflate as he realized that the man was no longer there. He had charged into the kitchen, and most likely didn’t hear him at all. A single sweat went down Higo’s face, a small blush appearing, That’s pretty embarrassing. It was only a couple of moments until the man came back out of the kitchen, carrying lots of ale and food. He couldn’t exactly make an issue of the ‘Higo-chan’ statement now, so all he could do was let it go, sighing as he slumped forward. However, as Iskandar brought up the concept of someone joining the pirate crew with ‘another motive’, even if it wasn’t directed at him, it caused his body to seize up. He listened closely as the fishman explained what he would do to a traitor, feed them to ‘Bos’. Higo’s mind raced, What could ‘Bos’ be? Iskandar was known as the Beastbound Captain with a bounty of 9 million Beli. It had to be some kind of fearsome beast with rows of teeth, sharp claws, and spiky scales. As Higo’s imagination ran wild, it was good he was currently looking at the ground with how much he was sweating, a small strand of snot dripping from his nose as his lips curled inward.

He’d have to be careful to not reveal his true intentions.

Look at this cool line
Aya would be somewhat dazed, a grin slowly growing on her face once more as she looked all over the bar. All those years on the island, she couldn't keep track of all this action and as such was somewhat overwhelmed. Still, she tried to keep track of what she'd seen, that being a very colorful crew with highly varied abilities. "Oh this is gonna be great." She mumbled to herself and chuckled.

Hearing her name, she would snap her head in the direction, noticing a strange man. He looked almost like a fish, and with that her curiosity was peaked.
"
Everyone that can bring something! Alicia, Higo-chan, Aya, Nicole, Nessy, everyone!"
Nodding, she decided to wait with the questioning to instead go grab two barrels of god knows what, not bothering to check them before rolling them away with either hand, but they both made a sloshing sound as they moved, making her assume they were filled with some liquid, most likely alcohol. As she rolled towards the exit to follow the fishman, assuming he knew what route to take towards the ship.

As she left, she noticed the girl she saw earlier playing away on her guitar, and she couldn't help but to move up to her, give a gin and simply say "
Hey, you've got great style. Reminds me of something..." Before rolling out of the bar after the fishman.

-----------------------------

Once outside the bar, she would stop rolling one barrel, starting to push it with her foot instead as she brought out a notebook with her now free arm, flipping through it as she walked. "
So.. What's the deal with you? I mean.. With the whole.. Green thing you've got going. Just bathe in some swamp?" She spoke up all of a sudden, most likely referring to the fishman she was following.

Nicole packed up her guitar and slung the case over her shoulder. She followed Andar into the kitchen and rolled a barrel of food out. Like the rest of the crew, she started to follow the former Captain to his ship.

She had no idea what a "Bos" was, but she assumed it was some kind of sea monster. Nicole had no intentions on betraying Scarlet, so the creature sounded pretty rad.

"Hey, you've got great style. Reminds me of something..."

Nicole turned her head toward the voice. Now that the fighting was over, she was able to get a better look at Aya. It was like looking into a mirror; what were the odds?

A spark flickered in her soul as she sensed a kindred spirit. They were complete strangers, and yet, she felt like she had known her their entire lives.

Nicole flashed Aya a toothy grin as she kept pace with her.

It was never the thousands Cher had slain, that haunted him. But the thousands he had failed to protect.

Three long years have passed, and yet, the grief of that day would never leave him. At least, he thought so, until the sides of his head were roughly slapped by wet palms, followed up by a fierce impact on his forehead, causing him to look up into fierce lavender eyes with a start. His crimson eyes trembled at the familiarity of the situation. It was as if he could see a shadow of a woman, with wavy black hair and angry violet irises, reprimanding him once again. It felt surreal, hearing his captain scold him much like his mother used to, so much so, that he couldn't help but tear up slightly. Cherluca very rarely cried. The only times others had seen him do so, was when he was inebriated and in a daze. To have his eyes watery with emotion, was a foreign feeling to him. Still, he was thankful.

Cher only recalled the gash on his cheek once Higo had stepped away with slightly bloodied palms, presumably turning away from him so that he could regain the dignity of a 'man' in peace. Although, now that his mind was set back in reality, Cher began to ponder what on earth his captain was talking about? Higo couldn't have possibly known about the Tragedy of Chincha, since he doesn't even know that he's a merman. For a moment, Cher even pondered the possibility of his mother possessing his captain for that speech. But, thinking about the matter would probably end nowhere, Higo was incredibly eccentric afterall. Regardless of how close his comforting words hit home, he relaxed his slightly paranoid heart and looked upon his captain's broad back with a smile.

"Thank you, Captain. I will... do better next time."

Cherluca replied quietly, though it felt particularly loud in a bar filled with the fallen. The words 'protect you better next time' were on the tip of his tongue, but he quickly swapped out that statement for a more vague one. He didn't want to have to explain, why he felt a need to protect. If anything, it might insult his great captain's ego. So it was better that such words were hidden away forever...

Abruptly, a woman, with dark hair that faded into a lighter-colour near its edges, strode over to him and grabbed his chin, before examining his wound casually. Natural instinct caused him to almost immediately stab at the stranger with the abyssal spear still in his hand, but fortunately he stopped himself almost immediately, the only sign of such a thought being a twitch of his arm. This woman wasn't wearing a headband, and seemed to come from the area the maid was at, hence it was safe to assume that she was either a bystander, or one of his new crewmates. His theories were quickly answered as she made a self-introduction, like many of the others in the bar had done.

A doctor...

Cherluca pondered to himself absentmindedly, though a little uncomfortable from having to stay in this awkward position with a strange woman pressing a handkerchief on his face. Although he was incredibly thankful for them, a twinge of fear also arrived when he heard the word 'doctor'. The doctors he was used to... were pretty terrifying. Having to deal with various soldiers and bloody patients all day, they were the farthest from gentle. Perhaps it might not be an exaggeration to say that many of his comrades suffered more from the treatment, than the injury. Looking at this boastful, not-a-pirate doctor, and her warm fire-coloured eyes, he pondered what kind of doctor she was... and whether he would suffer greatly due to the mistake of letting his cheek get cut.

Calm crimson eyes flitted over the foolish aqua-haired woman treating the enemy, to the aqua and gold coloured fish-man as he made his drunken speeches and charged into the kitchen. He had managed to catch every word he said, including that about his poor footwork which he had long internally acknowledged. Though, his heart somewhat stilled for a moment as he heard something that sounded incredibly... ominous, to Cherluca.

"Did he say... insect room?"

He spoke with a somewhat undecipherable tone, pondering what the combination of 'Beastbound Captain' and 'Insect Room' could mean. He faintly had a terrible premonition, as Cher wondered why he so quickly agreed to Higo's plan in the beginning...

Andar Jaranath
Beastbound Master
An open plain on Lil' Amyth Island

Aya and Nicole follow him with barrels
Aya: So.. What's the deal with you? I mean.. With the whole.. Green thing you've got going. Just bathe in some swamp?

The seedy bar was located on the outskirt, so it was not long before wooden buildings turned scarce and the paved road turned to uneven gravels and planks. The cove was not far from the town, just on a different side of the island than the dock. Talking about Bos in the bar made him think of everyone back at the ship. Shu should be helping Roam, Bos should be grazing, Ramphasti should still be out on insect duty. Why does it feels like he forget something? His eyes widened. He did.

Andar tossed a barrel up high to slap his forehead. "I forgot to bring Zarith again, ah. Poor Zarith, sun setting amber, sand tiding west, all alone on my behest~"

He caught the barrel before it crashed. He grinned silly, mood surging high at the thought of seeing his colorful companions again. He lost some, he lost many, but he still had Zarith, Bos, Shu, and Ramphasti! Only a question from another, a girl called Aya, stopped him from breaking into a song, a burst of words to release his heart. How long has someone asked? Who was the last that did not know? Long time! Someone not from the West Blue!

"I'm a half-moon betta fish-man. Rich like corals of a shallow sea, vibrant like a tropical paradise." He stretched his back muscles with a look of pride. Gold, dark red, and green. His father, a white shark fish-man, was not as beautiful, and from what his parents said, few fish-men were.

"Skin colors, you can find any color with fish-men, but scales and hair like mine, you have to look for betta fish fish-men. Like me! And there's the ship!"

The ship! Ashore on sand was a small ship with no sails blowing or flag waving. Andar shouted at the top of his lungs. "ROAM! SHU! I'M BACK WITH SCARLET AND MORE!"

Nerissa (Nessy) Orta
30401e1b.jpg

Pirates, for their part, screamed like a girl. Or, at least, the headband-wearing ones did. If not for Dr. Overcast, Nerissa might’ve forgotten to disinfect their wounds and they might died of a fever anyway. Maybe. The marines might carry medicine for that sort of thing. Or they may have let the pirates simply rot in jail. Regardless of the way of life they’ve chosen, they were all humans in the end. Pirates, Navy-men, fishermen…all equal in the eyes of Aquarius.

Tilting her head at her mummified handiwork, Nerissa wondered if she’d done it right. She’d really only intended to make sure they didn’t die until proper help arrived…but maybe she’d gone a bit overboard. Enemies they may be, but now that the battle was over and their Captain ditched them, they were simply injured people.

Or were they? Was not finishing off the enemy the right choice?

Sighing, Nerissa called for water to encase her hands, washing away the blood, before selectively going to the next most injured-looking one. Nerissa didn’t know, but, for now, she chose to have faith. Whether it was letting the enemy Captain go or helping the ones that looked too pitiful to ignore, Nerissa couldn’t say she’d ever done anything she regretted. It was only the things she failed to do that made her regret. Focused as she was on her task, the aqua-haired girl nonetheless paid attention to all the introductions, blinking only when a loud clap sounded off. Glancing briefly in Higo’s direction, Nerissa smiled as the green haired pirate spoke to his friend. She didn’t entirely understand the context, but the priestess whole-heartedly agreed with Higo’s words, patting the bandaged-up head of the ruffian pirate she tended to. “Yes, the past is the past. It's as Mr. Higo said. There’s plenty of time to create a better future for yourself. Violence only breeds more violence. You know better than to pick a fight with the Red Ribbon Pirates now, don't you?”

Repeating the process with washing her hands, Nerissa stood and picked up her staff, letting out a huff when Andar left the establishment carrying a couple of barrels…but not before calling into question Arabell’s motivation and praising Aquarius in the same breath. Everything the drunk, sea-hardened Fishman said was logical…and Nerissa appreciated his loyalty to the crew…but she didn’t entirely agree with his suspicion. If the good doctor wanted to rat them out, why warn them about being discreet at the docks in the first place? Why argue with Scarlet? Why help Cherluca? Fixing Arabell with a warm gaze, Nerissa nodded, concluding that the woman was simply a kind person. “Thank you for helping us, Dr. Overcast. Don’t worry about what that Drunkard said. I can’t speak for our Captain, but I think your medical skills would be welcomed aboard the Red Ribbon ship should you desire to come with us.”

Given where they were headed, and how easily the crew—or at least Mr. Andar—seemed to pick fights with other pirates, Nerissa thought it’d be useful to have a medical expert with them whether she joined the crew or not. However, Nerissa wouldn’t press the matter—especially to a civilian. At the end of the day, piracy was a choice. It wasn’t like the marines where joining involved a lot of complicated procedures. All one really needed was a good boat to call oneself a pirate…and sometimes not even that. “Everyone’s skills in fact,”

Glancing towards the red-faced Alicia who, after stuttering her introduction, remained where she was as if awaiting orders, Nerissa smiled encouragingly. She understood shyness all too well. Even though all the training she’d done at Aquarius’s temple readied her to deal with crowds, Nerissa, who spent most her life sheltered in a temple, couldn’t say she ever felt truly comfortable in large groups. She couldn’t make herself as loud or social as Scarlet. Couldn’t be as fun. Leadership didn’t come naturally to her and Nerissa could honestly say she enjoyed quietly reading on her own to giving long sermons where the masses watched and judged her every move.

Yet that was the path Aquarius led her down. “So long as you bring with you the ambition to leave this island and see greater heights, the courage to face adversity, and the willingness to contribute whatever you can to keep the ship afloat, then you are welcome aboard the Red Ribbon vessel regardless of your aspirations—isn’t that right, Captain?” Should be right. She really only echoed Scarlet’s speech, but with prettier words.

As the bartender brought out more crates of food—along with the first aid kit that Dr. Overcast requested—Nerissa gave Alicia gentle pat on the shoulder before making her way to Scarlet. Heavy lifting would be needed. Having never really stepped aboard the ship itself, she didn't know how clean it was either- or even how many rooms were available after Sir Roam modified the ship. If he finished fixing and modifying the ship. She had no idea if any of them had things they wanted to pack/bring along as well. People they wanted to say goodbye to, etc, etc. Once the ship left dock, there would be no turning back.

“I’d say you convinced him,” Eyes watching as the girl who caused the fire, and Nicole, followed after Mr. Ander, Nerissa observed their similarities—both in appearance and initiative—with interest. She honestly wasn’t sure how she felt about such forceful acquisitions…but there was no denying she paid for them. “As…overly happy…as Mr. Ander was being, I think it’s best that we follow his example and continue this on h—your ship. The Red Ribbon ship.” She wasn’t too sure who owned the boat now, but it didn’t really matter. Not like the Captain of a pirate crew had to own the ship they rode…right? The rules of pirates were still somewhat confusing to her. “I don’t think this place will remain…discreet…much longer and I’m sure our new crewmates would want to familiarize themselves with the vessel we’ll all be living on. Let's throw a small party, to celebrate the birth of the new Red Ribbon Pirates, by the sea. I’ve got one more friend to introduce you to anyway.”

Sir Levin Roam, the shipwright.

Taking out a simple map she’d made of Lil’ Amyth from her satchel, Nerissa spread the rolled-up paper on what remained of Mary’s table. “This is the bay where the ship is hidden away,” Nerissa pointed to a spot on the map. Better that everyone knew where they were going in the event that they all got separated…for whatever reason. With the knowledge that the marines were coming, she didn’t want to take any chances. She’d made the mistake of underestimating the marines back in Mirestone. “But if you’re lost, just look for a colorful bird in the sky that tends to hover around the ship looking for…er…insects…”

Snapping the goggles down over his eyes Roam began to set to work with chisel and sandpaper, carving and honing the thin and intricate edges of his off-handed idea with a care and craftsmanship honed over years of intense focus and practice. At first the lump of wood began to resemble an oblong heart settled onto a block, and then to pair down into a bulky ribbon-like shape; however the true craft of it began when the chisel was tossed back into his toolbelt and he began to shape the wood with his fingers, grinding away the excess and sanding it down into a leaner and lighter shape, paring the wood down until it was thin enough to catch the light but sturdy enough to hold as he tossed it skyward and his hammer rocketed out from the pile he’d hidden himself away within, thereby nailing the accessory to a spot on the railing just in front of the ship’s wheel. Later, if this captain Scarlet ever did show by any chance, he could take the time and effort to paint it red… Though before he could go too far down that train of thought he was snapped back into the moment by an insistent tugging on his leg.

That… is fine work!” Inspecting the cuts, Roam raised the planks and held them at odd angles to seek out imperfections; but the martial arts-focused marine animal had done well in its efforts and it seemed there would be little enough need for any excess clean-up. Which meant, of course, that it was time to go to work once more. Standing up from amid the heap, Roam cast a final glance at the sketches he’d done prior and nodded his head before exiting his cocoon of sailcloth, rope and wood and beginning to stalk towards the pile of planks which Shu had prepared. His hand dipped into the apron he wore and nails made their way into the corner of his mouth and between his fingers as he stretched his arms far above his head.

When the movement started it looked less like a man swinging a hammer and more like some bizarre metronomic dance. The hammer he wielded was built for someone with much longer limbs than he had and he swayed and snapped his limbs to some unheard beat in such a way that the handle seemed to blur and snap like a whip with each thunderous thunk. He used one foot to move the planks into position and the other to support his own weight and balance himself; slowly stacking the planks and dropping nails into position in such a way that the slatted planks began to stack and build over one another; the longer planks settling in towards the sides and building out the frame of a large set of double-doors. Tink-tonk, tink-tonk, tink… The rhythmic plodding of hammer against wood resounded in such a fluid manner that to those who weren’t watching the adjustments he made with care it would look as though the chopped lumber piled itself up and simply became a door. And then two doors. And then two doors and a section of railing which had been badly damaged. And then two doors, a section of railing and a wooden partition which would act as a temporary wall for the interior space until they got better and more numerous material to put in something sturdier. With the lumber cut the actual creation of the repair components took a relatively short amount of time; most of his wasted daylight having gone into planning everything out so that it would exert as little effort and waste as possible.

From there he proceeded to lead Shu throughout the ship; asking the helpful creature to hold materials in place as he used nails, glue, rope and tar to get everything in its proper place at a proper pace such that they would be ready to move out at a moment’s notice when Andar and Nessy returned. By the time they did return Roam was in the midst of maneuvering the excess materials down into the hold;

If you take the cloth I’ll grab the tools and whatnot and we should be-” A voice roared out and his head snapped up to seek the speaker, spiky locks flopping down over his goggles once more. With a sigh of resignation he pushed the goggles up, the hair back, and in so doing was able to see the shining figure of Andar approaching with what looked to be an entourage in tow. Pondering the words spoken he looked at the ribbon residing now along the railing and realized he’d made the right call; instinct once more proving itself his faithful friend.

Uh… yeah. Welcome back. And to those I don’t know… just welcome.” He offered a crooked smile that clearly took some work to get into place, and allowed his gaze to fall over those trailing alongside the fish-man he’d vaguely known from home; it was tough to gauge people at a glance, but they seemed and… interesting assembly at the least.

Mary Read
Giving a small laugh from behind her hand she continues to watch the scene play out before rising from her seat with a small stretch and sauntering forward. "Violence breeds Violence indeed but alas it has to be that way" Taking a refilled drink she downs a good portion of it before continuing through the soft smile.

"Do you know the most reliable way to deal with those who stubbornly refuse to see reason?" she looks around the room again before shrugging and replying simply "You conquer them, physically, mentally, socially...all of those are forms of violence as you assert yourselves over them. Crush them under heal, Such is the trusted method of older pirates and one still favoured by the Marines."

Putting the now empty mug down on the table she idly looks over the map. "But...Conquest is the easy part. The real challenge begins once the dust is settled, quenching the embers of animosity and maintaining a semblance of peace. This requires the conquer to treat the conquered with Dignity, and the conquered to let bygones be bygones. Quite a difficult feat to achieve. Most Marines for example are quite poor at the later part hence the embers that continue to spark up in every generation" She makes a gesture to the fallen individuals though does not make any real effort to interfere with their care or mistreatment.

"As for your.....our ship, I would recommend going this way through the ruins given there is a covered valley that leads around, the trees had deep roots so are still there and you would not see people travelling through in large numbers......or you could swim around the side but i feel some lack that particular skill set, also the fact the Marines should be coming from......here, here and here" she gestures across at various points around the Islands waters. "Mainly given were the bases that have people are stationed, and the current headwinds....we likely have oh....around five minutes or so now before the first one is within view, so no rush really" with her final words she heads towards the door, twirling around the dagger from earlier idly between her fingers.

Captain Scarlet Johannah Indigrid
Red-haired-female-anime-character-digital-wallpaper-fantasy-.jpg
As she issued her formal call to arms while surrounded by prospective crewmates, Scarlet was damned certain that at least a few of them would accept her summons. Most of them she was already slightly familiar with and the ones she hadn’t come face to face with yet were still welcome to follow along. Even if she didn’t know everyone right away, there would be time for that once they set sail. Those who stepped forward as volunteers received a swift nod of acceptance while she wore the brightest smile on her face. After all, putting together a crew again meant there was still hope for her to accomplish her goal and become the Queen of the Pirates.

Walking up to the bar, Scarlet grabbed herself a quick drink as some of her new crewmates did the same. While she wasn’t one to overdo it under any circumstances because she’d seen it come back to bite plenty of men in their butts, Scarlet never shied away from a little rum. That being said, she was in agreement with Andar that they needed to leave sooner rather than later so she was fully prepared to bring her pint along for the ride as she allowed herself to be led to wherever this new ship she was going to be running happened to be hidden. Though she didn’t grab any barrels to carry herself, she did briefly recall all those big boxes that Alicia had been lifting at the docks.

“Alicia, can you grab two more barrels please? One more food barrel and a barrel of rum? Try to get some foods that you know how to cook with,” the captain requested with a bright demeanor. She wasn’t intending to order the woman around, but she sensed that Alicia was shy and hesitant, so she wanted to give her a gentle nudge in the right direction. However, she didn’t wait to see whether or not Alicia was open to her suggestion for assistance or not. She was already falling behind and so Captain Scarlet Johanna Indigrid darted ahead to the front of her crew that had already started making their way out of the bar and onto more adventures that lay ahead of them.

Scarlet made it to the front of the group just in time to hear Andar explaining to someone that he was a half-moon betta fish fishman. She took note of that detail hoping she could find some way to apply it later. After all, it was good to know random things about a crew, particularly when you were it’s captain.

Our ship,” she briefly corrected Nerissa as they walked. The priestess had mentioned it was her ship, but Scarlet knew that in a crew that worked well together, the ship was home to far more than just the captain. They just kept the peace among everyone on board. “As for a party, I’m totally in agreement,” her tone became much more excited. “However, let’s hold on to the party plans until after we know we’ve put some distance between ourselves and the marines.” The young captain knew better than to party before they’d fully accomplished their goals. It felt good to be side by side with a friend who had endured nearly all that she had in the past few weeks and Scarlet enjoyed it for their walk to the ship.

However, once they arrived, Scarlet had other tasks to see to, and first among them was making sure their ship could set sail sooner rather than later. She sprinted up the ramp and onto the ship almost as soon as she could see it. She quickly found a singular individual on deck who appeared to be seeing to some repairs. “Hello there!” she greeted brightly. “Captain Scarlet Johanna Indigrid at your service! Is the ship ready to sail? If more work is required, I request we see the important repairs first so that we can take to the sea sooner rather than later, and there should be plenty of hands available to help you now that we’ve returned.”

Welcome back and I’m sorry for my brief absence. We should be returning full speed ahead! I am executively declaring that everyone walked to the ship and is there now because some of the posts had people at the ship while others still had their characters at the bar and that’s far too divided for my comfort level. If you have questions, ask in the OOC.

"A fishman?" Aya seemed genuinely interested, stopping both barrels as she instead started sketching and writing in her notebook with a grin on her face "That's fucking awesome, and I thought this journey was gonna be as bland as this island! How many are there? Are there different races like humans? Are there like lobster people too?" Aya blurted out a ton of questions, unlike her earlier cocky and ironic persona, she was now babbling like a child in awe, after all, she knew not more than the island she was from and what little books told that washed up on shore, so a fishman sace was something facinating to her.

As the captain and someone on the ship arrived, Aya stopped her frantic questioning, to look up at the ship. She didn't even realise they had arrived yet. "That's quite a ship. We're in good hands if this is gonna take us over the seas i think."

Arabell Overcast
__shirayuki_tomoe_nijisanji_drawn_by_ktsis__39384df7e66d6b487ebfd01ff31f7983.png
The patient seemed to be tense as far as Arabell could tell, though the fact that her life was endangered in that moment went unnoticed by her. "Dooon't you worry, I'll only be putting a couple of stitches in you, they'll come off in about a week and this boy here will have a cool looking scar to talk about." Arabell assured both Cher and Higo with a smile filled with certainty. Taking the first aid kit and deciding she may as well hold onto it, considering...she glared at the fishman who felt it appropriate to call her loyalties into question. She wondered if she could get away with telling him off while continuing to treat the boy in front of her.

Some heated words were about to fly off her tongue but the Aquarius woman's kind words brought her down a few notches. "Its no issue, I am a doctor after all...its just...." She trailed off as the reality of the situation really closed in on her. Because no matter what she didn't want to go back to the marines, or even talk with them! No, she would have no choice but to...

"...Hang around a bunch of Pirates..." Arabell lamented, now on the pirate's ship, in a very similar position as when she had left with the straggling group. Though now she had Cher seated in front of her as she deftly yet carefully applied her stitching, two briefcases of luggage next to her. Of course, she had warned the boy that it was going to hurt, but he seemed to have some amount of tolerance. At least if his initial reaction to the cut showed for anything. The movement was methodical, she had done similar work in the past so this was basically a walk in the park for the doctor, which in turn gave her time to look around and further lament her decisions.

There was a new person too, apparently fixing the ship up or something, at leas they had that covered too. She was talking to the captain who was- "OI!" She yelled across the deck at Scarlet, "YOU HAD BETTER BE OVER 18 DRINKING THAT!" The young captain seemed just that, so she didn't wanna take any chances, seeing as she was now essentially in charge of the bills of health of these people.

"Damn youngins..." She grumbled to herself, her hands had only stopped for a moment, and with one more threading through Cher's cheek and a careful tug she closed his wound right up. She sighed and stretched her back with an audible CRICK, leaving Arabell to stare at Cherluca for a moment. "....You didn't hear any of that." She declared as she quickly applied some gauze to his stitched wound and patted him twice on the back.

"If it hurts, don't go picking at it, if it hurts a lot, don't go picking at it, if it hurts a TON, come tell me and don't pick at it." She said as she packed away tools in one of the suit cases that was filled with purely medical supplies. With that, she wandered to the side of the boat and leaned over, letting her arms dangle down with a whiny sigh. Man, she did not belong here.

Alicia Harte
I41g59f.jpg

Alicia had glanced back having noticing the woman who had been using her as a human shield was gone leaving her to panic a bit glancing about realizing where she had gone still remaining in place as if afraid she would be doing something wrong if she were to step out of place. Clearly not really an issue though she was already flustered as was speaking up feeling a bit out of place for making her presence bigger then she thought she should be to begin with. As if on cue she heard Arabell speak up looking to the woman who had used her for cover seeming to finally ease up finally a bit more despite knowing she had moved already lowering her hands shuffling a bit in place feeling able to be able to move around a bit again though keeping mostly hesitant staying in the same spot she had been.

Her attention focused to Andar hearing his introduction, a strange shiver coming over her as if some message from beyond had come to her. As if she felt he had been looking at her before and had commented on her, though she had clearly missed it. Then again it was a rather silly thought to have, clearly it being his tone towards the self proclaimed doctor. Not that she could quite argue against it. She wouldn't ever admit it but it did seem a bit strange to be so against being called a pirate yet being willing to join. Not that she would go so far as to be suspicious of it...

Wait, she was going to be a pirate? What was she thinking! Did she really sign up for that? I mean they seemed nice but pirate... PIRATE! That had to be bad right? Alicia once again started to twist a bit side to side in a bit of panic uneasy at just what she might of signed up for. As if on cue the voice of Higo-chan spoke up making her jump a bit as he protested against the name. Alicia glancing back and forth shifted back into the scene and away from her worries once more. A gentle pat from Nerissa making the girl blush softly as she nodded lightly in response. It was only once Scarlet spoke she seemed to be much more directed in what she should grab.

"Ah... y... yes... yes! B..bring something right... right... I mean yes Captain! Two barrels, c.. coming right up!" She spoke up as if in a bit of a hurry. She shuffled forward the girl wandering over to the barrel of rum with a great amount of ease lifting it, her caution seeming much more directly related to not accidentally breaking it when she picked it up rather then handling the weight. The girl hurrying to get the other barrel of food ready not quite certain what to pack for food so attempting to get as varied ingredients as possible. She would never admit to being the best cook in the world but she knew enough to make good food and she would do her best to make her meals as satisfying as possible.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alicia shuffled up to the ship the two barrels carried rather easily as if they were trays of food like some waitress having a good grip of balance with them, a crate stacked on top of the rum of some herbs and other little ingredients she managed to gather along the way. Nothing particularly special though it was enough to at least aid in cooking and making sure the food tasted a bit better. The girl approaching the ramp leading to the ship with dread. The girl cautiously stepping on it putting a bit of weight hearing a creak though seeming a bit less skeptical. She carefully lowered the one barrel of rum, tipping it to remove her hand before placing it aside carrying them barrels up one at a time to avoid any 'accidents' with having too much weight still remaining nervous at the creaking of walking onto the deck. The girl taking a second trip finally getting all the goods she was carrying onboard.

She saw the spikey haired human seemingly having been waiting on the ship. Someone she assumed must be related to Andar in some way... along with... was that a seal? She wasn't quite sure what the creature was but it was wearing some sort of outfit and looked... kinda cute she had to admit. The girl blushed shaking her head attempting to focus her efforts on getting all the things she was responsible for sorted... the most important being the food. The girl taking the barre of food stacked with the box with other cooking supplies in to the kitchen... wherever that was.

Sh... should I ask? I... I don't wnat to be a hassle though... I... I'm sure I could find it.. maybe...

Alicia carried the barrel in front of herself peeking over as best she could to try and find where to place the food to store it properly so it didn't spoil quicker. A life at sea meant needing to make food last for as long as possible and she was more then aware of such a fact despite being experienced cooking on land.

Nicole Robbins

Nicole rolled her food barrel up the gangplank and glanced around for somewhere to put it. She was unfamiliar with the ships layout and wasn't sure where to put it. She could have asked, but she just nonchalantly left it near the other barrels Alicia had. The maid could deal with it and make sure it ended up where she wanted it to.

Nicole walked over to the railings, running a hand over them. The ribbon accents looked really good, but she couldn't picture Andar's ship looking like this. It must have been a new addition.

"Damn, you work fast," she said to the shipwright. "Nice work!" She flashed a big, toothy grin and gave Levin a thumbs up.

She stuck her hands in her pockets and aimlessly walked around, but was careful not to get in anyone's way. She finally noticed the animals onboard and her toothy grin returned.

"Who's this little guy?" she asked Ander, crouching down as she attempted to scratch under Shu's chin.

Moments later she turned her attention to Scarlet. Personally, the musician was ready to party; but she also agreed with her Captain's reasoning.

Nicole cracked her knuckles. "Time to get the show on the road! What should we do first, Captain?" she asked with a fiery grin.

Mary Read

Walking along with the rest in her confident sway Mary would soon find herself firmly upon the deck of her new vessel, giving the wood a few firm kicks for good measure as she inspected it slowly as she went about her self-guided tour. She would naturally need to find herself her own place among the timbers and a suitable room for her work, preferably one with a nice firm desk and space for the variety of papers she had brought with her. There was also the matter of her own Beli and treasures, which while compacted down into the more valuable gems and metals for ease of transport were not something she was about to leave around before an unfamiliar crew, especially one still so new to her.

Setting herself up near one of the rear cabins she began to make a few finer touches so it was more comfortable for her until returning to the main deck proper to check on how the rest of her crew was going about and more importantly to confirm the course that would need to be set.

"Similar to most taverns policy as cleaning as they go, I believe we should attempt to repair as we sail given where about to see the marines on the horizon...." she turns to the distance seeing a faint change in the waves from the eastern horizon ".....about now. If we head northwest around the cape of the Island before a hard turn true north for a few hours we should manage to be out of range given good headwind. From there of course its naturally the question of where our illustrious new captain wishes to venture, though if she is unaware of a specific destination i can make a few suggestions, be it to cut the teeth of the crew or another need." Speaking with the same ease her hands would be clasped behind her as she almost skips to Scarlet, bending around her to look them in the face from the side as she speaks through the wide smile.

While many others had decided to make themselves useful and bring goods with them toward the ship, Higo wasn’t one of those people. Strutting along with his head held high, swinging his arms confidently. He couldn’t help but be ecstatic; after all, he had found a reliable way off the island, making sure he wouldn’t have to deal with marines. Even more than that, he had found a crew filled with gullible saps who he could mooch off until he found it fit to make his next move on the Grand Line.

Truly, everything was going as planned. Which was not a surprise. All his plans were foolproof, after all.

“Besides that though….” He couldn’t help but be curious what kind of ship he would be boarding. If he recalled correctly, this ship was previously owned and operated by that Beastman. He has a pretty hefty bounty. He must have an excellent ship.

Higo closed his eyes as his brain began to cycle through what he imagined the ship could look like.

Tall masts with huge flowing sails…

Cannons on all sides ready to be fired off at will…

A prominent figurehead that stood at the keel that was sure to strike fear into all opposition…

Small chuckles escaped his lips as his mind became more and more extravagant to what type of ship he would be getting on.

But his imagination poofed away in a cloud of mist as he stared blankly at the new Red Ribbon Pirate ship. Clearly, it had gone through recent renovations, and if this was the state it was in, even with that, he couldn’t imagine what it was before.

Silently boarding onto the ship, all his earlier bravado was utterly snuffed out as he glanced around the ship with a discouraged frown, hands weakly hanging down his sides.

Completely distracted by his own one-sided disappointment, he didn’t even notice the approaching footsteps until it was too late. Snapping out his dejected trance, he looked over to his side to see a large barrel right next to him. Huh, where did that come from? Wait, it’s coming close-

Higo was knocked onto the ground like a ragdoll. His head quickly shot up to figure out exactly what happened but was only able to catch a brief glimpse of some feet under the barrel before it continued to approach. “W--WAIT! I’M RIGHT HER-” He stammered out, but it was futile as the feet basically paved over him, flattening over him like a steamroller and leaving him flat against the wooden ground just like a piece of melted candy. Covered in shoeprints and dirt, his body weakly twitched like a squashed bug.

Shortly after, he rebounded back to his feet, completely fine outside of his clothes being dirtied. He instantly turned around to face the perpetrator’s back, pointing a finger accusingly at them. “OI! BE MORE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS! YOU JUST RAN RIGHT OVER ME! THE GREAT HIGO-SAMA” He shouted, steam coming off his head in annoyance. Though after taking a breath, he was finally able to figure who exactly it was who steamrolled him in the first place. “Ah, it’s just that Muscle Maid,” He realized, some of his lingering annoyance disappearing. He couldn’t allow himself to stay too mad at the woman; her temperament was far too...reserved. He had nothing to gain for showing superiority over such a type of person.

However, that wasn’t to say he still wasn’t agitated over what just happened.

“If you’re gonna carry somethin’ you can barely see over, be more careful! Luckily I’m invincible! Anyone else surely would be gravely harmed by your monstrous strength.” He chastised the woman while still turning it into a way to stroke his own ego. But, the danger of letting this beast of a woman roam around without direction wasn’t to be understated.

Why was she carrying around that barrel anyway?

Putting a hand on his chin Higo pursed his lips as he tried to figure out what could even be in the barrel. Explosives? He sure hoped not! Monkeys? No, they’d be pretty loud.

...Must just be food then.

Putting two and two together, Higo instantly turned his attention to where he had last caught a glimpse of Andar, raising a hand up in the air. “OIII! Beastman, you mind tellin’ the girl over here where you put your perishables before she runs someone else, or even worse me over again? She's a safety hazard!” He pleaded, clasping his hands together and leaning forward slightly, and closing his eyes.

While he hoped to take the time to get more acquainted with the ship and its crew members and check on how Cherluca was doing with that doctor, he’d much instead make sure this was settled first. Knowing his luck, he could end up being crushed again, and while he talked a big game, he didn’t think he could take that punishment twice.

Cherluca listened quietly to the doctor's reassurances, with her conclusions on his wound somewhat expected.

Though, a scar...

He thought to himself silently, pondering what the scar would look like on his face. He was no stranger to scars, and had plenty scattered around his body, though most were covered up by his long-sleeved clothes and armour. But, to have one on his face was a new experience. This was what he deserved for not getting a new helmet, though. He was too picky. He wanted something water-proof, like the rest of his armour, yet, no normal armour shop would sell something like that. Sighing slightly, he diverted his thoughts by listening and watching the others around the slowly-being-emptied bar.

Although Cher chose to turn a blind eye to Nerissa's actions, adopting the tactic of what the eye doesn't see, the heart doesn't grieve over, he could appreciate a selective amount of her words, particularly the ones which re-assured the doctor currently treating him.

"Any good crew has a capable doctor. If you choose to travel with us, even if only temporary, it would be much appreciated."

He added quietly, only really loud enough for the woman right in front of him to hear. It didn't look as if anyone else in his new crew was a doctor, hence he truly wanted the lady to stay with them. To someone that once fought on battlefields regularly, the magic doctors displayed was incomparable to anything else.

"If it is your safety that you worry for, I can try and protect you on our travels, even if only to pay back the treatment I am receiving right now."

He nodded towards her lightly, before continuing.

"Though, I will warn you, that your priority will be lesser than Capt- I mean, my friend Higo."

As Arabell left to receive the first aid kit and pick up her luggage, with Cher's cheek wound no longer bleeding profusely, Cherluca put away his spear and picked up a barrel from the back... specifically filled with fish. It didn't take him too long to find his treasure, as the distinct, but familiar smell of the sea smell was hard to miss. There was a slight sparkle in his crimson eyes as he was revitalised with new energy, efficiently following the rest of the gang to the ship.

One thing that remained in his mind during his walk, was the extensive geographical knowledge that Mary displayed. It was one thing to be able to read a map and be able to navigate places, but she took it a step further, as if she had explored their surrounding areas before. Though Cherluca wasn't terrible with directions, particularly underwater, he didn't think he could recall his past surroundings in such detail.

It seems we're in good hands.

He thought idly, slowly beginning to come to terms with the capability of his new temporary crew. Though he was mostly distracted during the tavern brawl, he did try to keep a mental note of everyone's combat capabilities... as well as those that refused to show theirs. In particular, one that weighed on his mind was Nessy's water magic. Alongside the obvious benefits against devil fruit users, he felt that it could be quite useful combined with the crew they currently have. Naturally, he had slightly selfish inclinations because he might be able to use his Waterfall Form on land with her aid, but more than that, the idea of blasting their fishmen members forward with a torrent of water brought a slight smile to his face. The maneuverability aquatic species had underwater was incomparable to humans. Wouldn't it be an interesting thought if they could make the battlefield on land, their battlefield?

Though he was internally scheming and theorizing battle ideas for fun, on the surface, he calmly put down his barrel of fish beside the other supplies and sat down with Arabell for further treatment. He would join in on the pondering discussion on where to put things, but he didn't want to keep the doctor waiting... that was a death sentence waiting to happen. His eyes glossed over the new human, their shipwright, it seemed like, but he didn't say anything. He had yet to personally meet a great many members of this new crew. There were actually far more than he had initially expected. But, he had plenty of time to learn their names and the like. Especially at sea. He was already worried about forgetting the names he had already been told.

Cherluca felt a little... itchy, having stitching done on his face. But it only took a moment or two to adjust to the woman's methodical treatment. She had a steady rhythm, which was barely impeded when she abruptly yelled at their captain for drinking. The last few seconds before she up and left, patting him roughly on the back in the process, left him in a bit of a contemplative mood. There were words on the tip of his tongue that almost rolled out, until he remembered his mother carefully advising him...

Never ask a woman her age.

With that in mind, he bit his tongue, thanked her with a bow, and walked away, though subconsciously he began to feel as if... he should watch out for her health...

After lightly touching the gauze on his cheek, Cherluca's eyes naturally roamed to find his captain. Higo's exclamations earlier were loud, so he knew he had somehow gotten stepped on by the little maid, but seeing as he was fine he didn't mind it too much. Without the overwhelming stench of blood and adrenaline running through his veins, his mind worked much more calmly now, able to watch his captain's usual unlucky mischief with a smile.

But Cherluca didn't like remaining idle. After pondering a little, and recalling Scarlet's earlier words, he approached the spiky brown-haired shipwright and inquired lightly.

"Can I help anywhere? I don't have much experience with carpentry, but I can at least help get things for you."

He explained calmly whilst facing the green-eyed stranger, though his eyes occasionally wandered to the Dugong that had been following after their shipwright.

    Aboard the ship

Shu helped Roam! Shu did what Roam asked like holding a plank down, cut that thing, give hammer then nail then nail then plank when he reached out, he helped! More parts got together on the ship. Shu remembered Andar used to bring ship to a house-cave and people also worked on the ship. Sometimes the ship got bigger, sometimes the rooms change, sometimes the ship had new parts and older parts got removed. Andar usually brought him and everyone partying while waiting for people to work on the ship. Now Shu knows what happened! They also hold planks, cut things, and hammer nails!

Working little by little changed a lot! By the time Shu noticed, the ship changed... a lot! Shu couldn't point out where and where, but it felt a lot different! Then, he heard a familiar shout from afar. "Roah!"

The kung-fu dewgong waved back excitedly, but Shu froze seeing the cascade of people with him. Who are they? Andar talked with a lot of people and good with a lot of people, but not all people were good to him like to Andar. He still remembered the robed man that tried to kick him when Andar wasn't looking and the woman with gun that threw a bottle at him. Shu stayed at Roam's side, trying to hide away from the other people. But Roam's side wasn't safe, too, because someone with red hair approached him, so he ran away and hid inside the ship.

But inside the ship wasn't safe, too! One of the people went in the ship and went looking everywhere, so the only safe place was with Andar! Shu waddled back out to the deck for Andar. However, the deck wasn't safe! Just as he found Andar, a woman reached a hand out for him. Alarmed, the kung-fu dewgong let out a short bark and backed away. Who was she?!

"Ah, it's fine, Shu. This is Nicole, our new crew mate."

    "Roah?" Crew mate?

Andar grinned and patted the little guy. "Remember everyone here. They are going to be our new crew."

??? Like Bos and Ramphasti and Zarith? Shu tilted his head at Nicole with a look of confusion, but then his eyes brightened.

    Crew mate, friend!

"Roah!" He offered his fist out for a fist bump with Nicole with a cheerful smile.

"Wow.." Aya took a second to take in what she just heard, was all this true or was the man just playing with her lack of knowledge? Who knows, but she wanted to find out herself, she wanted to see everything the world had to offer. She would look down at the nearly empty notebook in her hands, smile on her face. After a few seconds of silence, she looked up in the air, at a few birds dlying past. "The world really is big huh?" Looking back at the fishman with a grin, she said one more thing. "Wonder why the old man wanted to keep it secret.."

Walking around on deck, she spotted something comfortable, jumping upwards and grabbing onto the sails before using them to climb into the crows nest. "I'm claiming this thing!" She yelled out to whoever listened and placed some stuff in it, not like she had much with her, just a bag with some provisions and rope.

Alicia Harte

Alicia shuffled her way along the deck carrying the barrel. A rather easy task for her with the only flaw being the lack of her ability to see now that she had to take in consideration the door frames and smaller halls she would have to navigate them through. In truth it was likely much better to unpack the goods individually and carry them down though for her she was so engrained with being a quick worker. Do your task as fast as you could to ensure you didn't miss a second in which you might be helpful elsewhere! That was the maid code! To make those you serve happy was in itself the greatest reward for the job and one of which you could ensure you weren't a burden. Gods, she hoped she wouldn't end up being a burden having to serve so many people on such a big ship.

Naturally the thought combined with how blind she was with the barrel in front of her lead her to not even realize something had bounced off the barrel the very motion hardly noticeable to the girl. The girl's feet trampling over the great Higo floor mat (available now for a limited time at shopOnePieceNewPirateEra dot yarrr) passing him over feeling a bit odd over the fact the floor seemed to be rather squishy and uplifted. In her drifting mind offhandedly probably thinking it to be some rope left sitting below deck. It had only been when she heard the yelling she glanced back looking over at Higo now accompanied by various shoe markings where she had stepped over him. The maid's eyes opening wide as she glanced back. She gasped, dropping the barrel as he smacked hard into the floor as she held her hands over her mouth in panic.

"I... I... I'm a monster... I'm... I'm s.... s.. s...s..s..s.s..s.s.s.s.sssssssss..." She spoke as her "S"'s stammered on slowly only quickening up as she was completely left in disbelieve and shock at what she had done. Her eyes watering up in complete horror at what she had done. The meek woman stumbling over as she rushed over hearing him speak seeming to soften up though still clearly upset. The girl walking up to him as he tried to help find her directions. Her eyes still wet looking at him worriedly. The girl still filled with a good amount of panic looking him over now rather then a barrel having the water pooling around her eyes partially obstructing her vision.

"I'm sorry! You... your alright... r... right? Please Please tell me you are okay!" She spoke her hands clutching his clothing out of worry as she suddenly began to shake up, being quite reckless with her own strength as she began to shake him back and forth trying to make sure he was alright, though more so likely rattling him like a jar checking what sort of contents might be hidden inside. Her wet eyes looking him up and down worried she might of hurt him very badly. It would sadly not be the very first time she had an accident hurting someone unintentionally with her own strength or weight. It was clear she had genuine concern for him. She clearly didn't like the idea of hurting anyone if all possible, particularly someone of who was suppose to be an ally.

Her head turned to Andar looking on as she offered to help show her around. Not what she had wanted... at least to ask for though something she was grateful for being offered. She nodded as she grabbed Higo, suddenly swinging him carefully into her arms cradling him like a baby as if expecting him to want to follow. The girl electing it her duty to help put him into a bed so he could rest after she hurt him. Perhaps finding the scary doctor lady from before to ask her if she could help him out. The girl following behind Andar leaving the barrel behind at least temporarily until she knew her way around... and could do so without hurting another poor soul like Higo.

Alicia followed along giving a nod as Andar along seeming intend to take in all the information, after all if she were to cook and clean the ship she needed to know about every little bit of it! Her once wet eyes seeming to of dried up a bit showing some resolve wanting to make it up to everyone and poor Higo... who she was still carrying around in her arms perhaps a bit lacking in paying attention to what he might be saying on the tour if he so asked to be put down from her sturdy hold.

"I... I understand! I'll do my best to keep it in mind, I'm not use to cooking without seasoning, b.. but I'm sure I can make something your animals will enjoy if you want me to!" She spoke nodding seeming to try and show some resolve. Clearly seeming a little out of her element when trying to come out confident in not wanting to let him down. The girl's heart racing as she was still quite nervous. It was about that point she glanced down to notice Higo who she was still carrying.

"AH! S... ..s. sorry! Where is the i... infirmary or.. or a bed I c... can put him in, to get him fixed up and rr... rested? Is the scary... I... I mean th.. .th... the doctor l.. lady around?" She spoke seeming to show a bit more panic as she glanced about thinking him to be much more hurt then he was.

Hearing footsteps approach him, Higo opened his eyes and glanced over to see Alicia approach him, looking like she was ready to cry. “Ah, here comes the sorrowful apology,” Higo mentally predicted, turning back around to face her. He already felt a small nugget of annoyance growing in his chest, expecting the demure woman to start rattling off apologies. No doubt it would become a spectacle for the other crew members to see.

As soon as she opened her mouth, Higo mentally prepared himself for what was going to happen--

Only to feel a sudden grip on his clothing.

“...Eh?”

A nervous smile instantly graced his lips.

The next thing he knew, he was being shaken around by the woman like she was a dog with a chew toy, all the while screaming apologies at his face. “I-I GET IT! I GET IT! YOU’RE SORRY!” He said, raising his hands to grab her wrists in an attempt to pull her off him to no avail; her monstrous strength held him tightly as she continued to shake him. “I UNDERSTAND SO LET ME GO BEFORE I--”

Ah. That must be bile he could taste in the back of his throat. That’s not good.

As Higo felt himself beginning to vomit, his neck reflexively stiffened up, something that he would end up paying the price for as Alicia gave him a poorly timed shake. He let out a pained grunt as a sickening crack came from his body, his head slumping forward as a drop of drool went from the corner of his mouth, and his eyes rolled back. A singing bowl echoed dully as a manifestation of his spirit dug out of his mouth and flew skyward towards the sun…

Eventually, his eyes blinked open, the corners scrunching up as he was blinded by an imaginary light that shone behind Alicia as he looked up at her from his half-awake state. “Are you an angel…? Am I dead?” He mumbled out as his eyes reflected the light. But as he came to his senses and the light fizzled out, it was clear he was very much alive. He slowly turned his head to look down at himself, being carried like some infant, then slowly tracing over to look at Iskandar, then back to Alicia, then once more at himself. All without saying a word.

“WHAT IN THE WORLD DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING HOLDING ME LIKE THIS!?” He exploded, his head enlarging as the soundwaves of his scream visibly left his mouth. Wiggling out of the woman’s grip like a fish, he flopped onto the ground face first, quickly rolling over and hopping up to his feet as he patted himself on the chest vigorously. “I need no bed nor do I need to see that DEMON of a DOCTOR! I am PERFECTLY healthy! As I’ve stated before, I’M INVINCIBLE.” He loudly expressed, stepping forward with each statement and splaying his palms wide. He turned around with a huff, his cape blowing behind him as he crossed his arms. “Now if you excuse me. I have much better things to do that just swaddle around here.”

He closed his eyes as he walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.

There was silence, then the sound of another door opening.

A shrill, girlish scream, violent buzzing, then silence once more.

Slowly the door to the kitchen creaked open again, revealing Higo’s face puffed up and patterned with insect stings and bites. He flopped to the floor with a groan, crawling forward with the strength of his arms until he reached Alicia, wrapping a hand around her shin and looking up at her. “D-Doctor. P-Please…” He mumbled through his enlarged lips before his eyes rolled back and his head slapped against the floor, falling unconscious once more.

"Oh! Uh... hi." The shipwright allows his eyes to scan over the face of the woman approaching him thoughtfully, doing his best to repeat 'captain, captain, captain' in his head as he takes in what she looks like. His eyes then pass beyond her to the larger assembly of crew and he finds himself immediately discomforted by both the size and scope of the motley assemblage as well as the haphazard nature of their approach. Blinking sharply he pulls his attention away from the cluster of chaotic happenings coming aboard and faces the captain once more.

"Captain! I meant to say hi, Captain. Um. The ship is ready to sail now, if you'd like. Policy is always to manage necessary repairs first, and then sort interiors and decoration when everything is uh... ship-shape enough to sail. We might need a few boards knocked into place and nails bent or hammered down here and there, but there's no issue aboard that would cause us to take on water." He fidgets as she mentions the helping hands and makes himself turn to face the crew once more, and yet again finds himself a bit overwhelmed. The call of a compliment to his work drew his focus and he turned to see a woman with multi-toned hair carrying an instrument.

"Thanks. Honestly it would have gone faster, but I was helping with some of the home repairs around the island until Andar convinced me to assist he-." He felt movement by his leg and watched as Shu scurried off somewhere, sighing as his assistant and the only entity aboard beyond Andar he knew suddenly left him with these newcomers.

"Here." He finished as he allowed his eyes to trail from her to the prominantly blue woman who spoke of a potential heading, following most of it, but not really having anything of value to say to either of them. Really he felt a touch out of place on deck with all of these highly energetic people and felt himself drawn by the sirens call of the hold and levels below.

Just before he succumbed to the urge to retreat lower another voice reached out to him and he found himself locking eyes with a pair of crimson orbs that caught him quite off-guard. Not that anything in the last few moments hadn't caught him off guard; from the excess bouts of exuberance clearly radiating from many of the new crew members to the bickering and bantering going on amid those a few steps away. Still; those eyes were startling, and it was only with great resolve that Roam managed not to let it show.

"Oh. Uh... I was about to head into the lower decks and run a spot-check. I've taken care of the exterior and interior hull damage, as well as the mast and ship's wheel; but some of the interior walls may still need to be reinforced in order to make sure things are safe and comfortable for everyone throughout the journey and we don't have any cascading damage. If you want to go around and help apply pressure to some of the boards to make sure there isn't too much give, it would help me figure out what still needs work." Reaching into his pockets he withdrew some simple sketches of the ships interior he had made earlier; they weren't artistically stunning, but on a technical level they were done well enough that one could find their way throughout the vessel. He passed these as well as a pencil over to the man in question.

"If you just mark off anywhere we need reinforcement and move some of the spare boards from the heap here..." He marks off a spot on the map with a little circle where he'd left some of his excess supplies. "I'll come and see to it that things get patched up, after I double-check the lines and the anchor to make sure we can take off."

There was a final pause before he added; "I'm Roam, by the way." This last bit wasn't really directed at anyone in particular, but so many people had just started talking to him in the last minute or so that he felt he should probably introduce himself to at least one of them. Or try to.

Captain Scarlet Johannah Indigrid
While she waited for a response from her new shipwright, Scarlet’s head did turn to investigate the actions of some of her crewmates. There was one woman who’s name she couldn’t recall who decided to claim the crow’s nest, for better or for worse. The young captain didn’t have any reason to stop her from it currently so she didn’t. However, she did call out, “Position’s yours if you want it. Just means you gotta keep a look out and shout anything you see that we might not down on the deck!” She, at the very least, wanted her crew to know what was expected of them so that if something went wrong, no one could say they didn’t know what they were supposed to do. Scarlet could vividly remember a few situations where that exact situation had occurred on the Crew of Spades and it was always messy.

The redhead was also highly appreciative of the few crew members that quickly volunteered to help with further repairs as needed. Scarlet was already coming to enjoy being around a group of supportive people again. Although she knew that she still had a lot to do to earn the trust of each and every one of them, there were a fair few that she already had decent faith in after experiencing their support firsthand or after seeing them fight. There were a few she was still leary on. While she got a good feeling about Cher, Scarlet couldn’t help but have odd feelings towards Higo that she couldn’t quite pinpoint a reason for. She wanted to appreciate his energy, but for some reason, it felt out of place. Perhaps it was because she was typically the energetic one when she was in a crowd and now she wasn’t quite sure who could be louder. Nonetheless, he was a part of the crew and she was determined to make things work with whatever crew she had on her ship.

She carefully listened to Roam’s explanations, nodding to express understanding without interrupting.

“As long as they’re willing, I will assign Nicole and Cher to aid you in these checks and to continue repair work. If you need more hands at any point, please come let me know,” Scarlet replied to Roam. She gave a brief nod to both Nicole and Cher before turning to find assignments for the rest of her crewmates so that they could get moving as soon as possible.

Right as Scarlet turned around, she found herself coming face to face with Mary and overheard the woman talking about a destination. That was one question the young captain had an answer to without needing to pause for thoughts. “First and foremost, we are heading through Reverse Mountain. If we’re hunting the greatest treasure to ever grace the world, then we need to become the strongest pirates to ever sail the seas and there’s nowhere better to start that journey than the Grand Line.” She was very confident in the words she spoke. “I’m going to have Higo-San take the helm. He seems like he has the energy for it.”

As she spoke of him, Scarlet picked her head up to see if she could find him in the crowd of her new crew. When she didn’t actually find him, the captain took to shouting, as could be expected of Scarlet Johannah Indigrid. “HIGO-SAN!”

Nicole didn't mean to startle him. She smiled a toothy grin at the dewgong huddled beside his master.

Stranger danger? She wasn't that scary looking was she? She didn't think so, but she was sure that the World Government would try to paint her as some kind of monster.

Nicole chuckled as Shu started to come out of his shell a little.

"Crewmate," she repeated softly, gently fist bumping the dewgong.

She heard Scarlet call her name and stood up from her crouched position. "Duty calls." She gave Andar and Shu a two-fingered salute before walking over to Cher and Roam.

"Nicole," she repeated her name for Roam's sake; possibly Cher's too if he somehow missed her name. "What are we checking? Boards?" she asked. Her attention had been on Ander and the dewgong, so most of the earlier conversation between the captain, shipwright, and Cher had been just background noise.

Aaah...you know what...maybe she could come around to this.

She always did like the peace of the sea at times, even the duty filled life of a marine had its quiet times, just being with the sounds of the waves and exchanging words with a friend were all you needed sometimes. Sure, these people were all really, seriously kind of weird, but they all seemed to have their good sides, at the very least, they weren't bloodthirsty, as shown by allowing those who attacked them to escape with their lives and mostly in tact.

Yeah maybe she cou-

....No, no no she must have been...hearing things, yeah, totally...surely they wouldn't be talking about her in such an extremely rude inappropriate and derogatory fashion, its just her own ego talking! Arabell chuckled to herself, shaking her head lightly at her own ridiculous behavior, of course, of cou

.......Arabell, her expression unchanging, raised a fist and slammed it against the railing of the ship, putting a few cracks into it's wood. She sucked air through her tongue and teeth and began to stride to the oh so lovely voices of her beloved crewmates, weaving through the ship till she basically punched the door open to the kitchen to see the pathetic scene in front of her. Higo suffering from a comical amount of bug bites and/or stings, one would really have to wonder what the hell he did to piss off so many bugs at once.

Arabell smiled angelically, crouching down to Higo and extending her hand toward him, which was flexed rather aggressively. "Are you sure~? Do you reeeally need the help of some Deeeemon Of a Doooctor?" Her smile seemed to heat up by the second, her eyes darting straight into Alicia as if they could have stabbed her, "Or some Scaaaary Lady~?????"
