Crew Application
Character Creation Expectations
  1. Please read “The Pirate Code” page prior to submitting a character application. After submitting a character application, you will be held to those rules or removed from the rp if those rules are broken.
  2. WIP applications will be deleted if they are not completed a week after posting.
  3. Roles in the crew will only be reserved for a period of one week. If a character is not posted and completed within that time, the role will open back up and the same person who initially claimed it will not be able to re-reserve it.
  4. One character per person for now. Most of my rps allow each player to have two, but I want to wait and see how many players actually join this one because it looked to be a bit busy.
  5. When your character is accepted, the GM will notify you either by tagging you in the OOC and saying so, or by PMing you. A like from the GM does NOT mean you are accepted.
  6. The role of “First Mate” cannot be claimed. I will assign a “First Mate” based on who the captain would select.
  7. Devil fruit applications will be highly scrutinized and I’m not likely to accept many. You may PM me for preliminary approval, but that is not a guarantee.
  8. Haki is not allowed. Rokushiki (Six Powers) is allowed; however, it MUST make sense for your character to have acquired it, and if you say you know all six of them, you’re wrong.
  9. When filling out the skeleton, please remove everything in parentheses. If you have questions about anything, ask in the OOC once it exists. Until then, use the interest check thread for questions.

Name: Aya Thorn

Nickname: N/A

Gender: Female

Age: 22

Sexuality: Pansexual i guess

Race/Species: Human

Hair Color: Dark brown

Hair Style: Cut very short on her right, and styled into one big swoop on her left, covering about half her left eye.

Eye Color: Bright yellow

Height: 5" | 152 cm

Clothing Preferences: Well Aya tends to wear more revaling clothing, like crop tops and shorts, as she likes form fitting clothes that leave a lot of skin so she can stay in the breeze. As of now she'd just wear a dress made from animal furs though.

Primary Aspiration: Most likely exploring the worlds things, since she's spent a lot of time alone she never saw much other then her island. She keeps a journal which she writes down anything cool she sees. So yeah, exploring the world and seeing everything.

Personality: Aya is what most would either refer to as annoying, tedious, sadistic or all of the above. She enjoys being ironic and often makes fun of people, but it's all for a joke, she doesn't wanna be mean, she just has a rude personality. She keeps that big sister vibe with her, where no matter how annoying she is, and how much she bullies you, she will try her damn hardest to keep you safe it comes to it, and you know she's scared for your lifes when she's no longer cracking jokes. Deep down, Aya has a fear of showing weakness, which is why she rarely takes things seriously, as it shows nothing on her oppinions about things.

Character Flaws: Well, as i stated, she has this nagging fear of showing any form of weakness. Apart from that, she's somewhat sadistic, she enjoys causing pain to those who she feels deserve it, but she doesn't go out of her way to do it, she isn't a psycho.

Skills: Aya is one hell of a hunter, no matter the animal type. Birds, fish, small game, big game, she's mastered finding and killing them all. Other then that, she has a good sense of sound, smell and hearing.

Fighting Style: Aya is more of one to stay a bit away and bombard her foe with ranged attacks, she specializes in bows but she's known to have decent aim with guns and throwables too, not as great however.

Weapons Carried: A knife made from scrap metal and wood, A handmade bow with scrap metal on the side to cut someone if need be.

Unique Abilities: N/A

Backstory: It all begun in some island in the east blue, called the cloudy sky kingdom (a name i just came up with). Aya was born by the head of military for a rather small kingdom, only really ruling their one island. However, the king, who was a corrupt man was ruling horribly. High taxes, barely did anything for the kingdom and put all the money to himself, it was to the point where Aya's mom herself started a revolution to kill him, however, when still in it's early stages, the king sunk a ship with her on, killing her and all her men.

Knowing they were next, Aya's father and grandpa ran to a sailing ship to flee the island, but the king's men grabbed her father and killed him for treason, but they flinched when he commaded them to kill a newborn girl and her grandpa. The grandpa took this as his chance and raised anchor, sailing off into the horizon. They would land on an uninhabited island where they lived for years, he never once spoke of the outside world however.

Life on the uninhabited island was pretty repetitive. In his earlier years, Aya's grandpa often did that type of teasing to try and make her angry, especially when she was only a few years old so she got mad instead of starting to cry, this being the only interactions she ever got with humans, Aya picked up on that mindset and got that teasing personality her grandpa had.

During that same time she was being taught all sorts of things about hunting, a bit about making shelters and boats and a decent ammount about poisonous herbs and how to spot them.

Though it was clear her grandpa was getting old, as the more time passed the less teasing and more grumpy he got, and he got less active, to the point where Aya stopped asking him for help on subjects she was unsure of.

In his older ages he became paranoid, shutting himself in his room and only leaving for food. Aya became self sufficient at that point, she still loved her old pops, but she wanted to see something new, go someplace else, meet other people. After he passed, she made her own raft and sailed off, getting picked up by a traiding ship, where they let her hitch a ride to the nearest island if she worked. She traveled with them untill she had enough money to get herself a boat and food, which she used to sail off to start her journey on exploring the world. However, she underrestimated the skills needed to sail a boat and crashed as soon as she arrived on her first destination, Lil' Amyth. With no other choice she left the boat with her things to go explore and hopefully find someplace to hitch a ride.

Name: Levin Waldfried Roam

Nickname: N/A

Gender: Male

Age: 25

Sexuality: Ace

Race/Species: Human

Hair Color: Brown

Hair Style: A spiky mess at the best of times

Eye Color: Seafoam Green

Height: 5’7”

Clothing Preferences: More often than not Roam can be spotted wearing fairly simple clothing; dark-colored pants, a comfortable shirt adorned with some simple pattern, and a sturdy pair of boots. More often than not Roam is decked out in his workman’s attire which include a pair of green-tinted goggles, sturdy work gloves that go up to the elbows and a thick carpenter’s apron with pockets for all his tools, the only difference between his appearance while working and while not being that outside of work he wears the goggles up on his forehead and folds the apron over at the waist.

Primary Aspiration: To build an unsinkable ship.

Personality: Roam is an awkward individual. Having grown up aboard a ship with only one real friend he didn’t have much in the way of kids his own age to talk to and as such he finds himself more at ease with his elders, and speaks much the way they would; using outdated slang and more reserved and respectful verbal mannerisms. Those who get past how he talks will quickly find him to be a very spirited man with a simple outlook on the world; the sort who gets lost easily in daydreams and gets swept up in spur-of-the-moment decisions. He has a good heart, and a good head on his shoulders, but he clearly lets the former lead him before he thinks to check in with the latter.

Character Flaws: Roam gets flustered around new people, is easily distracted and tends to go all-in on big decisions and grand gestures that he may regret within moments of their undertaking.

Skills: Roam is an okay artist, a capable shipwright and a laughably bad but very spirited dancer. He can lift heavy objects, tie knots and generally perform all the tasks his work on ships requires of him. Furthermore he is quite perceptive and has a good sense of spatial awareness.

Fighting Style: While Roam CAN fight he doesn’t enjoy it, and as such he takes efforts to disable opponents as quickly as possible. Aiming for legs, joints and quick knockouts to make it so his opponents are off balance and have trouble fighting back.

Weapons Carried: While Roam can, and will, fight with all the tools of his trade the one with which he is the most competent is the long-handled carpentry hammer gifted to him by the master shipwright he trained under. After training from a retired pirate in how to use the tool as a weapon he’s become fairly capable at knocking people down and disabling them with it.
That said he isn’t opposed to hitting people with nails, sandpaper or the edge of a carpenter’s plane if need be.

Unique Abilities: N/A

Backstory:
Born in the lower hold of the good ship Krakens Candy to a pair of lumber merchants by the names of Jaunt Cerise and Levin Waldfried Van, young Roam started his days in good spirits and good company. The Krakens Candy was a vessel ever filled with delicious smells, lovely musical sounds and the gentle rocking of the waves. Growing up aboard the ship Roam had only one other child his age, a girl named Cetus Marigold, but between her company and the belabored and regal attentions of the ship’s cat Socks he was never lonely. The ship was his home, his kingdom, and he would spend his days exploring it’s nooks and crannies and learning every beam and nail to the point he knew things about the old craft that even its maker would be hard-pressed to call to mind.

For the first five years of his life this was the daily routine; he, Mags and Socks would wake up and spring into action. Hit up the kitchens for a quick breakfast and set to work using the piles of lumber aboard to make forts and castles and entire kingdoms. In the hold of the ship, despite the environs being ever the same, those kids and that cat could go anywhere… and they did. For a while.

For the first few years of his life this childlike wonder and exploration were little more than ways to pass the time, but as he began to grow older his wondrous little world began to change. Mags’ parents were sought out by another merchant company, and unable to pay the increased wages they were being offered, the crew of the Krakens Candy had to let them go. At the time this was saddening to Roam, but he didn’t truly understand what it meant. Sometimes they would leave members of the crew at port for a few days, or some months, and some of the older crewmen had passed, but this was the first time they had ever fully parted with anyone. As weeks and months passed he grew dejected and didn’t fully understand why he and Socks couldn’t meet with their friend Mags any more. Still, the crew was kind to him and they explained that the pair may meet again when they were older.

Until the summer storm that took that option away.

Mags’ ship was caught in a storm: they took heavy damage and couldn’t make it back to shore in time. It took a good while for Roam to come to terms with this idea… He had been around death before, but those were elderly people, not the vibrant and lively friend he’d grown up building bases and exploring worlds with.

At only six years old Roam sought out the crew’s shipwright Nao, a member of the long-arm tribe who tended the vessel, and he asked as nicely as he knew how for lessons in how to do what the elder man did. How to repair and maintain ships. The loss of Mags was a heavy one and not knowing how to process the hurt he decided then and there that storms or stupid business plans would take the people he cared about any more. He would learn to make ships that wouldn’t break. Ships that would stand against any storm and sail with all the speed and strength they needed so that they could carry more than any other ship and make the stupid money that had initially drawn the Cetus family away.

Of course; becoming a shipwright wasn’t a simple task, especially for a six-year old who was oft distracted and lost in his own little world. His thumbs, regretted his decision on more than a few occasions and given Nao’s long-arms his ears were never out of reach of a timely flick when he messed up due to his own distraction. Still; he labored hard and long to become a proper shipwright and after years of apprenticeship under Nao’s tutelage he was gifted the master’s carpenter hammer; a robust little piece of craftsmanship with a too-long handle that Nao had used in conjunction with his long arms in order to fit nails into place in spots other men would have needed a ladder or a rope to reach. While he wasn’t as proficient with it as his teacher Roam treasured the tool and promised to be worthy of its ownership one day.

Now a young man in his twenties, and with a greater comprehension of the world, Roam packed up his worldly possessions and left his parents and the Krakens Candy behind; using money his parents had saved up for him in order to set out and seek work in a proper dockyard where he could put his skills to use on more than just the bold little boat on which he’d spent his youth.

He found himself on the Metra Kingdom archipelago in the employ of a woman named Lyre; a retired pirate turned dockmaster who found him a space to work in the shipyard. More often than not it was quiet work, but now and then they would get drunks or hooligans stirring up trouble around the shipyard; low-rent pirates and thugs seeking to have some fun or make a name for themselves. At first Roam did his best to ignore these things, to avoid them, but after a while he found he couldn’t. He got swept up in a scrap and trounced. While not super tall, Roam had always considered himself fairly tough and his stocky frame had a solid bit of muscle from all his labor-work. That said he had no idea what a fight was like… the anxiety, the blood pounding in your ears, the crunching in your knuckles when you hit someone. It was alien and unpleasant.

Lyre found him beat to hell and gave him a thorough scolding for getting himself beat up, but a fair bit of praise for his bravery as well. Knowing the sort of folk who caused trouble around the area she offered to help him learn to look after himself a bit better, and the two set to meeting up after work so he could learn to defend himself. It made things better. From that point on he didn’t get beat up nearly as bad, and by the time a year or so had passed he stopped being beat up at all and started being the one doing the beating up. When trouble came calling his trusty hammer was usually enough to scare someone off, and when it wasn’t it was built in such a way as to be great for tripping folk and trashing extremities.

Over the course of his run at the shipyard he shared time and drink with a number of noteworthy figures including Andar of the Beastbound pirates, and while he didn't know the man on a personal level he acknowledged his achievements and took it to heart when miss Lyre said that the pirate was a man who could be respected. Roam wound up tentatively in the good graces with a number of sailors and pirates for his work on their craft that he was quite pleased with, and with a bit of a reputation for his burgeoning strength that he liked a bit less as he still didn’t much enjoy fighting. He preferred building things to breaking them down, but at least he could do it if the need arose.

And so it went; building, breaking, rinse and repeat. A quiet few years. A lovely little life in which he got to fix and craft ships and found some semblance of peace. He had good people in his life, he had coin and comfort, he had a reputation. It was enough.

Then the Mirestone Massacre happened.

While he wasn’t close friends with any of them, he’d met people who died in the massacre. His boss, Lyre, knew some of them from all the way back when she was a kid. The pirates had fallen. Their craft had crumbled and they had been scattered like dust. He was once again reminded of the purpose he’d set for himself. To explore not the little makeshift world in the hold of the Krakens Candy, but the real world… to find the resources and the skill to build vessels which would stand up to storms, to strife and even to a damnable Buster Call. With the spark in him re-lit he packed up once more, bid farewell to Lyre, and began seeking a ship to take him out to sea to find the knowledge and the materials he needed to complete his goals.

Of course with all the recent troubles he only made it a short ways away to the island of Lil’ Amyth, and has since been patching up homes and boats to buy passage onto a bigger vessel that can get him further out.

Name: Mary Read
Nickname: 5 Hands
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Sexuality: Pansexual
Race/Species: Fishman (Star)
Hair Color: Blue
Hair Style: Long flowing with low fringe over eyes and bangs
Eye Color: Amber
Height: 6' 1"
Clothing Preferences: Free-flowing dresses and garments that do not interfere with movements.

Primary Aspiration: Dissolution of Marines Black DIvision and bringing it to light. Removing false facades.
Personality:
The enigmatic female breaks through the calming deceptions forced upon her for the majority of her life in favor of reality regardless of the comfort the prior may have brought. When asked regarding her past she may be included fragments of truth through a combination of the trauma, prolonged exposure indoctrinations, and feelings on such often result in somewhat unreliable answers. Calm, Blunt, Sassy, and with a Dry sharp wit they are never the less friendly overall to those she is familiar with yet this will not prevent her from pointing out several uncomfortable truths when needed. The main ideal that appears to move her forward is both her desire for freedom and that of others, wishing to shatter false realities or deceptions as she challenges others to do the same to her in a somewhat hypocritical nature. As a result of her past, she is far more likely to attack authority figures she judges as unfair or corrupt to those they lord over yet wishing to avoid permanently harming those who are simply misled by these deceptions. (Subject to change through RP getting a better feel for the character)
Character Flaws: Always Technically Honest yet Deceptive, Audacious, Catty, Shielded, Stubborn
Skills: Navigation, Parkour, Multitasking, Eidetic Memory, Gambling
Fighting Style: High Mobility Martial Arts and Pressure Points, uses every part of her body.
Weapons Carried: N/A
Unique Abilities: Fishman (Star), Rokushiki (Geppo/Tekkai/Soru), Photographic Reflexes

Backstory:
Deep within the edges of the grand line rests the reportedly Idlylic settlement of Grimsby, a brimming production hub for the world government without a care in the world as they live content lives to produce important compounds for the vital peacekeeping missions of the noble marines. From the colorful characters to vibrant and shining spires this idealized city is believed to be the example of the ideal life the world government seeks to bring about, receiving glowing reviews from its natives to the point so many seek to join the community and nay a person wishes to leave resulting in the location boasting the highest population density per square meter of any settlement under the control of the world government. Another more important draw to the island is said to be the healthcare provided to its citizens with a 100% satisfaction rating, the cornerstone of such is the mandatory medicinal supplement "Bliss", from the outside and to the majority of those within the existence can be described as little other than perfect, and those who disagree? well, they are simple downers that need to get cheered up at one of the many centers for such.

Peel back the pretty facade however and the true nature and state of the settlement are revealed to be the polar opposite, it is not even an island in the traditional sense being essentially an industrial raft scouting for wreckage and salvage. Factory atop factory intent on cramming as much as possible into with living spaces a vague afterthought, the higher management would receive accommodations at the upper levels of the city with the workers down below and those unable to work or escaped trapped below the bowels to suffer the seeping emissions, collapses, floods and all manner of other atrocities in the underbelly as the Scraps. Effectively a floating prison meant leaving the city was not an option outside the arranged transports reserved for bringing in new citizens or escorting the "upper management" out when required.

In any other settlement, the conditions would have already started an uprising or some other manner of mass riot conflicting with the authority, yet this was avoided with the implementation of the mandatory Bliss. Regular intake of the medication resulted in drastically altered perceptions and compliance of the population along with a smile on every face, seeing the idyllic life of sunshine and rainbows the island was reported to be to the rest of the world, while the "downers" who refused to take such or began to see through the mask would quickly be revealed as they discovered the truth and taken away for "harsh" and unconventional treatment. That is to say, simply refusing to take such was more difficult than it seemed with the highly addictive nature as well as the infusion of such into the water supply. The source and key component in the Bliss was a plant that had once grown wild on a distant island though now incubated artificially, The "Grinning Garland" a powerful hallucinogenic with several other properties for which it was also exported for other purposes after the dangerous task of cultivating and farming it on mass was conducted by the locals. All this and more was made possible by the most prominent controller of the island Samara Darlington known to her people as "Darling Auntie" but to the rest of the world as simply "The Wall".

This woman was primarily the Head of the Division Black of Marine Biological Research. A cruel and methodical logical woman responsible for the cataloging and transport of numerous rare compounds for use by the various other Branches, this also included administering and securing test sites such as Grimsby. She holds little value in the concepts of past loyalties or bounds being a realist through and through seeking efficiency and results regardless, in her pursuit of "Ordered Justice" she has displayed an unrelenting and aggressive drive. A frightening intelligence she has shined primarily in the organizational and logistical management of the book projects but also in political science.

Mary would live upon this island for as long as she could remember, into the same "idyllic" life of its many other occupants, those raised upon the island far more confined and controlled by its nature are the only world they had ever known making rejection far more difficult. So in relative terms, Mary would group up "Happily" spending her time in the communal nurseries and learning all about the island for the important and fun position they would soon take. It was however during this part that the first crack in the programming would be made, an old resident who introducing them to a song her name reminded him above, they had long since forgotten its origin but never its importance along with a myriad of other comments within the cracks of control, a tune that must never be forgotten but also danger so must be kept close. The concept of "Danger" was new to Mary and from this, the first of many questions would begin to form, though fortunately, she would not be one to speak them openly, she didn't want to be a downer after all.

When Mary was old enough to walk she was quickly brought to the Kindergarten to start her part in helping the happy city, clearing out the pipes and moving through the small places as only a child could but it wasn't long before her true talents began to be noticed. The most important of these being her memorization of the complex labyrinth of connecting pipes to the point she was capable of creating maps from memory, including alterations made for the numerous bypasses that differed from the original layout. The culmination of this being her quick thinking in fixing a stuck limb of one of her the other playmates within the pipes, making sure they didn't only get to ride away with the waters but also didn't get a cool peg leg but all was good so it was easy to forgive her, especially when Auntie moved her to an even more important role. This would be the start of her path as a Navigator, something she took to in earnest, and in her entire being able to help and keep the smiles around wasn't something she could turn down could she?. Still, the cracks and questions would continue to grow, urged on by an innocent yet simple comment by another playmate she had overheard "What is beyond the City Waters? What is beyond that?" she never did see the owner of the voice again, but the question was something she never could quite forget.

Still, time would continue to roll by as she grew and developed becoming one of Auntie favorites through her abilities alone, yet what will rise may also fall...and so she did when the realities of the world came crashing down to drag her with them into the abyss with the true nature of the island shattering the image built up over so many years. It had started with a question to Auntie, a suggestion of an alternate course...then while she was in the log room...she was chased? no, she stopped and threatened something...the freedom of falling? peace? no not peace, fear and anger she was shouting louder than she had before, she felt burning as if she was hitting something wet....then she was chained up in a cell...the entire series of events playing like fragment and blurred video but regardless of how it went down her final fate Mary born again with an unnatural determination, forgoing conviction for resolve as she spent her time in the cell planning to get beyond that wall now the world she had grown in was finally clear.

Though to say this was all that occurred before her final grand escape would be too simple a punishment and far too wasteful, despite what Auntie would try Mary appeared to refuse to die or submit and so they simply solved one problem with another. As a result of the actions taken by the superior, the dietary budget of the island was slashed substantially with a new "protein" being added to the citizen's meals. Previously ALL "waste products" would be reconstituted and mixed with fast-growing algae to feed the citizens with their intoxication on bliss hiding the truth of what was being consumed, but for this period the algae were needed as the torture of Mary had provided more than enough.

While others would fall into acceptance of their fate Mary would not and after a year the event that would earn her their epithet would take place as well as would have secured a sizeable bounty for the damage done...if not for it quickly being collected in the final moments. While she was unable to break her restraints she had instead managed to break herself to gain freedom, rushing the door during a routine "protein collection" and breaking out of her cell to begin a rampage through the compound, driven only by the need to be free and get beyond that wall. Tearing through countless of the marines stationed she would proceed like an unchained beast, neither the blades are driven into her nor the bullets stopping their assault, even with the loss of her arms they clutched a blade within their mouth and kept pushing until she broke past the walls, pushing further until finally, she came to the iron borders of the city with the sea beyond.

This sight of salvation was short-lived, however, a voice from behind would speak leaving her only enough time to turn before the platform she was standing on soon fell into ruin and her into the waters below, believed to have finally died. Had it be that simple it would have sparred them what was to come, drifting amidst the salted waters she would lose track of time, she was not sure how long it had been but it came as she would eventually be washed up on a shore and begin to learn of life beyond the city with unfiltered eyes. Charting a course from place to place making her way as a merchant trader one day, gambler the next, freelancer hand, or actually a navigator for short journeys.

The rest of Mary's story remains to be told, for good or ill the woman who now stands as been defined by the events that brought her to this point and will be further defined by those yet to come.

Priestess of Aquarius
30401e1b.jpg

Name: Nerissa Orta

Nickname: The Sea Witch, Priestess of Aquarius, Nessy

Gender: Female

Age: 24

Sexuality: Herterosexual

Race/Species: Half-human, Half-Mermaid

Role(s): Ship Priest(ess)—knows how to conduct a marriage ceremony at sea—and chronicler. She can also take the role of gardener, should any cook/doctor decide they want to grow their own medicinal plants/vegetables on the ship, as she has a suitably green thumb or secondary navigator as needed since sailing and mapmaking isn't much a problem for her - though she lacks knowledge on very many islands because of her isolated upbringing .

Hair Color: Aqua Blue

Hair Style: Simple, long and straight, sometimes tied to the front to keep it from moving around to much while she works.

Eye Color: Sapphire Blue

Height: 5’5’’

Clothing Preferences: Shells, accessories, priest/witch robes, dresses. She prefers loose clothing that she can easily slip in and out of since she loves swimming.

Primary Aspiration: Find One Piece and discover the secrets of the Void Century. Mainly discover the secrets of the Void Century—especially the ones regarding Aquarius.

Personality: Normally calm and tranquil like the peaceful, warm waters she enjoys swimming in, she nonetheless can be fierce like a tidal wave when protecting something she cares about. She is an intellectual that enjoys learning and passing on her knowledge to others, believing that knowledge shouldn’t be kept hidden away and nothing censored. Nessy doesn’t appreciate the World Governments hiding of the facts regarding the Void Century, nor their persecution of the religion she preaches. As a priestess, she spends most of her time giving sermons or lectures about her goddess Aquarius. She’ll teach anyone who is willing to learn how to read poneglyphs, despite what the marines or government thinks about it, and has a strong moral compass—as well as stubbornness and determination—that makes her rather high on the wanted list (despite not being especially violent and avoiding fights where she can). Adventurous and daring, yet also kind and caring, her journey with the Red Ribbons had taught her to be more selfish, despite the fact that she strives to uphold Aquarius’s teachings…so she does get a little violent when pissed off...but she's fairly humble for the most part and will attribute all her good doings to Aquarius. The bad ones, on the otherhand, are her own as she too is but a mortal.

Character Flaws: Stubborn, talks a lot, nags a mother—these are some of the flaws pointed out by her former bodyguard Arlen Hakhassi. She doesn’t hate devil fruit users, but she pities them for being rejected by Aquarius so she comes off as a little arrogant at times. Her uprightness and confidence often has her taking the high ground in most arguments, making her seem a little closed minded as well despite the fact that she’s very open to learning. She won’t stand anyone talking bad about Aquarius and refuses to eat fish. Everything is about Aquarius with her, so she can get a bit annoying to talk to at times.

Skills: Reading and writing (including poneglyphs), studying, weather prediction, navigation, swimming, gardening, singing, teaching.

Fighting Style: Basic Merman Combat and Water Magic using her Staff of Aquarius. She'll also whack with her staff when necessary and kicks pretty hard.

Weapons Carried: Staff of Aquarius (assists her in wielding Water Magic and is more effective when utilized with the Gem of Aquarius), conch shell accessories (that let her hear the sound of the sea, no matter where she is), and the Gem of Aquarius (which makes it so water can’t hurt her—she won’t be drowning--and connects her to "Aquarius". It's more effective when utilized with the staff of Aquarius)

Devil Fruit: N/A

Devil Fruit Abilities: N/A

Devil Fruit Weaknesses: N/A

Unique Abilities:

Talking to Fish – Part of being half mermaid, Nerissa can hear and produce sounds that let her communicate with fish, and ability that only improved while she found her way to Fishman Island.

Kick Strength – Even without a tail, Nerissa has oddly strong legs

Affinity for Water Magic—As the priestess of Aquarius, she is trained to utilize a power that had been thought to be long lost since the Void Century along with the god that created it. Using Water Magic, Nerissa can control sea currents (to a limited degree), shoot out projectiles of water, manipulate water, perform water scrying, and create illusions from water.

Backstory:

latest
Found washed as a babe on the shores of Mirage Island, where mana still saturated the air, and islanders still secretly worship a sea deity that had been long lost since the void century, Nerissa was raised in the Temple of Aquarius when her ability to talk to fish was discovered. It was there that she learned to read and write—including in ancient scripts written on poneglyphs that described the teachings of Aquarius —so as to be a better guiding voice for her people. Certainly, Mirage Island had its kings and chieftans, but one can argue the priests/priestesses of Aquarius had equal (if not more) authority as practitioners of the sacred Water Magic and people that could connect to "Aquarius". Nerissa grew up indoors most days, training in the temple where she was protected by fellow priests/acolytes and kept pure, though she went out on pilgrimages from time to time, and often snuck out to help the people. However, in the twenty years she remained on, Nerissa wasn’t allowed to leave. There was one rule all Mirage Islanders adhered to: No outsiders.

People that came to the island weren’t allowed to leave (alive) and those who grew up on Mirage Island, stayed in Mirage Island. Why? They certainly didn’t want to end up like Ohara. Protected on the back of a giant moving turtle (a servant of Aquarius) and an illusion of water maintained by the priests of the Temple of Aquarius, it’s an island that has remained quietly, hidden for centuries…until Nerissa became the next head priestess. She wanted to see more of the world, learn, and spread the teachings of Aquarius beyond the boundaries of Mirage Island. She believes that there is so much more her people could learn from outsiders. Therefore, accompanied by her bodyguard, Arlen Hakhassi, Nerissa set out on a pilgrimage to outside, taking with her the Gem of Aquarius.

Hearing that One Piece, the treasure which the pirates were after, possibly possessed knowledge of the Void Century, Nerissa headed for Mirestone where a map of it was said to exist…only to end up caught in the entire Massacre of Mirestone fiasco. Unconscious and heavily injured, yet unable to drown (because of the gem of Aquarius that she carried), Nerissa was saved by a passing merman who took her to Fishman Island where she recovered and learned of her mermaid heritage. Or rather, half mermaid heritage. Seemed her mother broke a law of some kind by marrying a human and was exiled from Fishman Island. It was there that she learned the basics of merman combat (very basic) and discovered hidden poneglyphs detailing Aquarius. The residents of Fishman Island didn’t seem to like her much at first—neither her heritage nor the strange religion she seemed to teach—but got used to her in the time she stayed with them. The King of Fishman Island took her words seriously though(as if charmed) and her powers made them wary, hence her moniker as ‘The Sea Witch’ by the merfolk. Before leaving the island, Nerissa (nicknamed Nessy) was gifted with some conch shell accessories (so she would never forget the sound of the sea) and the Staff of Aquarius, which the King of Fishman Island had stored away in his treasury—seemed he’d known she would be coming.

Thus, Nerissa left Fishman Island and set off in search of her bodyguard, Arlen Hakhassi, and the old friends she’d met in Mirestone—one of which being Captain Scarlet Johannah Indigrid. She doesn't much like war, but she will support her friends she's made in her pilgrimage. She also believes that the sea, like knowledge, should be free and that the bodies of Aquarius should be open to all.

Clothing Preferences: Cher often wears a particular set of chitin armour atop looser-fitting clothes, a habit from knighthood that lets him feel comfortable and ever-ready for combat. It is not partiuclarly thick or heavy, since it was specially built for mobility underwater. His chitin armour set covers the majority of his body, and is reinforced with scales from deep-sea beasts. It is additionally painted a silvery colour to blend in with other metal armour on the surface.

Captain Scarlet Johannah Indigrid
Red-haired-female-anime-character-digital-wallpaper-fantasy-.jpg
Gender: Female

Age: 19

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Race/Species: Human

Hair Color: Auburn

Hair Style: Braids - any number of them will do

Eye Color: Blue, but not overwhelmingly so

Height: 5’6”

Clothing Preferences: Corsets. Lots of corsets. She tends to prefer pants over skirts. She decorates with ribbon as appropriate - mostly red ribbons.
Primary Aspiration: Become Queen of the Pirates - DUH!

Personality: Scarlet is in a single word - loud. She’s boisterous and bubbly. She is extremely social. It seems as though Scarlet trusts people far too easily, but she learned a long time ago that it is a lot easier to learn who you can really trust if you bring people in closer to do it. Yes, this could bite her in the butt, but she’s determined enough that she doesn’t care. Scarlet is quick to make friends, has an aura of charisma about her that no one can quite explain, and she also has frequent inexplicable dumb luck. Beyond all that, though, Scarlet is an extremely compassionate person with a desire to prove herself as a leader to almost everyone in the world.

Character Flaws: Scarlet is the opposite of sneaky. She cannot really keep her mouth shut. She’s quick to fight people who try to shoot down her dream.

Skills: Sewing. Navigating a ship through visible terrain she can see. Fashion. Flirting with cute guys.

Fighting Style: Scarlet fights with a mixture of martial arts and her saxe knife more often than not. She uses her saxe knife to get in close with sword users, cutting off the reach of their weapon, and she can also throw her saxe knife with fairly good accuracy. Additionally, she has a rapier that she’s learning how to use because someone once told her every good captain has a sword at their side. It wasn’t until after she started learning to use a rapier that she realized that they didn’t necessarily mean that every good captain was a swordsman.

Weapons Carried: Saxe knife and rapier

Devil Fruit: Meisai Meisai No Mi (Camo Camo Fruit)

Devil Fruit Abilities: Scarlet’s devil fruit allows her to, at will, blend into the background and environment around her and also extends to affect anything she is wearing or in direct contact with.

Devil Fruit Weaknesses: Her camouflage is never quite perfect. Someone with reasonable depth perception can tell that something is off though they might not necessarily be able to identify that it’s a person throwing things off. It also does nothing to mute her or silence her footsteps so she can still generate noise. Additionally, she cannot swim.

Backstory: Scarlet was born to a relatively low class family on an island that not many people ever hear of because most of it is farmland and none of the people go on to do big things. In fact, even she herself doesn’t remember the name of it, but she can tell you exactly where to go in the East Blue to find it. That’s where her life started, after all. Her mother was a seamstress and her father was a sorry excuse for a farmer. Everything he tried to grow died so her family had to eat based on the money her mother made with her work instead. Growing up, Scarlet remembers a lot of moments where her father got really self-critical and she remembers her mother always telling her that that’s not how she wanted her daughter to be. She wanted Scarlet to be strong-willed and confident. The more you believe in yourself, the better you will be. Her dad never quite acknowledged the fact that he also helped out quite a bit around their small home and he did work to keep the walls up, but Scarlet’s mother saw it every day and thanked him for everything he did.

One day, though, a ship came to the island seeking workers to help with the basics of running a ship. They didn’t give many details, but it sounded like a straightforward opportunity and Scarlet’s dad jumped right at it. Her mother was more skeptical, but that was because she knew that she couldn’t keep their home afloat without her loving husband. However, she saw how happy it made him so she proposed a solution. She would have to move out of their home and stay with another family and for that reason, she encouraged her husband to bring Scarlet along. Their daughter would be more confident if she knew more about the world. Everyone jumped on board with the plan and Scarlet immediately found herself put to work on the ship despite the fact that she was only six at the time. “You’re never too young to scrub the deck!”

Gradually, over the course of about a year, Scarlet acquired sea legs. She could remain on her feet even when the waves were at some of their roughest points, and she always sought to learn more about the workings of the vessel that carried them. She also, for the first time in her life, learned what it was like to have a full stomach. Scarlet also started hearing stories about pirates. To her, they were lawless vigilantes who had absolute freedom; they sounded like they were too good to be true.

Either fortunately or unfortunately, Scarlet had an opportunity to meet a pirate crew first hand when that pirate crew learned that some valuable goods were being smuggled onto the ship. The ship that Scarlet and her dad had been workers on for a year was blasted to nothingness in a very short fight. Fighting hard to get to the lifeboat, Scarlet’s dad worked to make sure both he and his daughter were safe and to some degree he succeeded, even if it ended up costing him his own life. They washed up on the shore of a foreign island in Paradise that looked to be nothing but sand as far as the eye could see. As her dad was fading out of life, having been injured in the battle that was lost before it started, Scarlet’s eyes managed to find one thing that stood out against the sand. It was colorful and looked like a fruit of some kind. She grabbed it and tried to offer it to her dad, but he encouraged her to take it instead. He had no use for it anymore.

She does not remember how long she bawled over her father’s dead body, but it felt like days. When the seven year old finally regained some of her wits, she realized that the only thing she had available to eat was the funny looking fruit. It looked yummy, but once she took a bite of it, she seriously had no interest in finishing the rest. That was when she noticed another ship on the horizon. Two men came ashore, both looking rather gruff, scruffy and intimidating. They were quick to notice Scarlet as well, and the remains of the fruit she had eaten. They weren’t happy about it. Apparently the fruit had been a highly valuable treasure that one of them had misplaced and in retracing their steps, they’d encountered a child.

When it looked like they were about to abandon her to return to the sea, Scarlet made a statement that probably saved her life. “I could be your new valued treasure…?” Just like that, Scarlet became the newest pirate on the crew of one renowned Captain John Spades.

Eleven years of Scarlet’s life were spent with the Crew of Spades and she learned a lot more than she’d ever learned before while she was with them. The captain himself became something of an adopted uncle and he made sure she was physically taken care of. When she showed interest in the workings of their ship and their crew, he brought her under his wing and taught her everything he knew about piracy. Some of it seemed to stick in her brain and some of it didn’t; he worked with her on helping her figure out how to master her new devil fruit powers. He taught her to fight - that was a hard one, but she could defend herself by the end of it. They encountered plenty of rival crews along the way, dabbled with marines on more than a few occasions, and the more she grew, the more Spades saw her potential. He had planned on promoting her to the rank of his first mate.

That didn't happen, though, because she came to him after reading an article about the legends of the One Piece. Rumor had it someone found a map and they were galavanting in Mirestone. Scarlet wanted to claim the map for herself. She wanted to be Queen of the Pirates. Captain John Spades encouraged her to do it; however, it was a mission he wouldn’t accompany her in. He had other goals of his own that didn’t line up with hers. They part ways on good terms, with the Crew of Spades helping her to acquire a ship and dropping her off on the island where things quickly went south.

Once again, Scarlet is alone. Once again, she is without a ship or a crew. However, she has a dream and she’s bound and determined to achieve it.

Name: Higo Dronfir

Gender: Male

Age: 24

Race/Species: Human

Hair Color: Dark Green

Hair Style: One long bang of hair covers the middle of his face, drooping all the way down to his chin, while the rest of his long hair is slicked back, going down most of his back.

Eye Color: Pale Purple

Height: 196 cm (6'5")

Clothing Preferences: Wears a heart sticker on his left cheek and a star one on his right. A purple vestment that goes all the way down to his legs that is patterned with golden threaded triangle patterns. Sometimes from under the vestment you can catch glances at his dark black pants, that lead right into his pointy tipped shoes that are colored with a red and purple stripe pattern.

Primary Aspiration: Proving himself as a renewed pirate, worthy of fame and glory.

Personality: Deceitful, vain, and greedy. These are just a few negative traits that encompass Higo's dreadful personality. Undoubtedly the essence of a 'true' pirate, one who always puts themselves first. However, this is a layer that hides Higo's cowardice, obliviousness, and reliance on others. While he'll talk a big game when faced with an adversary, or even an ally, when he's actually forced to act on it, he'll quickly try to avoid it, coming up with excuses and reasons. With lacking confidence in himself or his abilities, he continuously worries about the most minor things but always plays around with the ideas of a backup plan. While his personality may be dubious, Higo isn't a heartless person. As much as he would try to deny it, there are certain things that he can't help but drop the façade for.

Character Flaws: Higo has an abundance of flaws, whether it be his complete focus on self-preservation or petty childishness he shows when things don't go his way, there's a lot to list.

Skills: Inventing / Tinkering

Bluffing

Neat Handwriting

Running Away

Ship Handling

Fighting Style: Higo tries to avoid fighting at all costs, hoping that his gloating of strength will dissuade enemies from taking him on. That fails? Time for Plan B. Run Away!
Preferring to leave the fighting to his "comrades" he tries to avoid getting into altercations at all unless he finds the odds completely in his favor. This doesn't mean he cannot fight, if backed into a corner Higo has a whole set of tools to use, and more importantly , his devil fruit.

Weapons/Items Carried:
Higo's 6 Mystic Items:
Multishot Musket (Multishot Masuketto | マルチショットマスケット): A musket with 6 barrels that shoots all shots at once! However, after it's fired, every shot has to get reloaded manually...
Slithery Snake Coil (Suraisā Hebikoiru | スロリーヘビコイル): A launcher that shoots out a Corozac Constrictor, using its fangs to bite into a target and act as a grappling hook. A genius invention until the issue of getting the snake back into the machine comes into play, along with keeping it fed and alive.
Orbital Boomerang (Kidō Būmeran | 軌道ブーメラン) A wooden boomerang adorned with sharp blades. Works great until it's flying right back at you.
Plug and Stay Wheels (Puragu To Sutei Hoīru | プラグアンドステイホイール): A set of wheels that can be stuck right onto any type of shoe, allowing the user to move around with enhanced speed! But removing the adhesive takes hours.
Wind God Gloves (Fujin Tebukuro | 神の手袋を風): A pair of boxing gloves that once packed with air, gives their punches more power. There's no pump for it, so it's gonna be filled manually.
Star Crown (Sutākuraun | スタークラウン) A small crown that emits a beam of light from a light bulb placed in the giant star that sits in the middle of it. A knob that allows the lux to be adjusted. Replacement light bulbs are hard to find also costly!

Devil Fruit:
Devil Fruit: Furoa Furoa No Mi (Floor Floor Fruit)

The Furoa Furoa No Mi is a simple devil fruit at the base level. It allows the user to summon platforms around them that can have various effects, from being able to move to be sticky. However, the essential specification to how this devil fruit operates makes it more complex from the user's standpoint.

When making a platform, the user has a total limit of 4 square yards of platform that can be in place at once. This limit can be used to make one huge one or multiple smaller ones. However, the size is important, as at different sizes, where the user can create them is different. Smaller platforms can be placed farther away from the user, while larger ones must be closer.

Here's a list to explain size and its relation to maximum creation distance.

Platforms of 3.1- 4 SQ Yards.
Can be spawned up to 6 inches away from the user.

Platforms of 2.1 - 3 SQ Yards
Can be spawned up to 1 foot away from the user.

Platforms of 1.1 - 2 SQ Yards
Can be spawned up to 5 feet away from the user.

Platforms of 1 SQ Yard or less
Can be spawned up to 12 feet away from the user.

With that explained, here are some additional points of note that goes with spawning a platform.

+A platform can be spawned in a place where it passes through a nonliving object, leaving it unharmed in the process. This includes other platforms.
+Platform size can be increased after being summoned, which is a workaround for the spacing issue. However, spreading a platform out takes a lot more time and energy compared to simply spawning one that's already at the size you need and is usually impractical for that reason.
+Maintaining many small platforms is a lot more taxing than mentioning a few larger ones, making their reach and maximum amount come with a drawback.

Besides creating a platform, it's also important to bring attention to the ability the fruit has to give the platforms changes or effects. These can range from actions such as spinning or moving to adjectives like sticky or bouncy, even going as far as mimicking things such as conveyers. It offers a lot of versatility but requires a lot more energy and focus from the user to keep up. As such, they have to be used carefully. Once a platform is summoned with an effect on it, the result cannot be changed.

Devil Fruit Abilities:
One Star (Wansutā | ワンスター): Higo snaps a finger, summoning a single small platform.
- Magic Carpet (Mahōnojūtan | 魔法のじゅうたん): Higo summons a small platform right under his feet with the property of 'moving', allowing him to move in one direction quickly and effortlessly.

One World (Hitotsu No Sekai | ひとつの世界): Higo stretches out his arms and tenses his fingers, readying to summon one large platform.
- Trampoline (Toranporin | トランポリン): Higo summons a large platform with the effect of it being 'bouncy', increasing the jump height of anyone on it.
- Bug Trap (Bagutorappu | バグトラップ): Higo summons a large platform with the property of being 'sticky', making it from hard to impossible to move while on it.
- Panini Press (Panīnipuresu | パニーニプレス): From above his enemy, Higo summons a large platform with the effect of 'falling', making it come down to squish them, just like a panini press.

Double Moons (Daburu Tsuki | ダブル月) Higo points his fingers, summoning two medium-sized platforms.
- Inverse (Inbāsu | インバース): Higo places two conveyer platforms going towards each other in different directions right under an opponent to attempt and slip them up.

My Galaxy (Watashi No Ginga | 私の銀河): Higo points his hands under him, making a platform of maximum size.
- Revolution (Kaiten | 回転): Higo summons a platform with the property of 'spinning', causing everyone on it to deal with its rapid movement, excluding him so long as he stays in the centre.
(This list will be updated as more techniques get realized or revealed.)

Devil Fruit Weaknesses: This devil fruit has the potential of being incredibly draining to the user. Keeping multiple platforms active is tiring, and if effects are on them, even more so. It's crucial to be conservative with the use of this ability, or it can quickly leave you out of power.
Platforms aren't invincible. With enough force, they can be broken, or too much weight can cause them to fall.

Backstory:

Born on Dubble Isle, a small island that rests within Paradise. Split up into two parts, Dubble Isle was formed with a strict social hierarchy, which divided the two sides of the island. Raku Town was where all the infrastructure could be found, from markets, shops, and businesses. It would appear like Dubble Isle was a prosperous place if one came and stayed here for a while. However, on the other side of the island was the lower-class slums, where all people were deemed to be of lower social standing, and those labelled criminals and otherwise worthless were thrown out. There aren't many plants or animals because of the toxic waste produced by Raku. People from the slums were treated as less than human; thus, they were driven to wallow poverty and frailty. It was their complete freedom to cross over to Raku, but the mockery and abuse they would suffer from the Raku residents would prevent them from doing so. There was one child who hated the difference in treatment and social class between the districts. He was driven to go to the other side of the bridge every day to live amongst them. No matter how many times he was insulted, attacked, or ignored, he continued to come back with bandages and bruises. That day finally came when the locals were fed up with his appearances. They positioned themselves on the bridge's midsection, armed with hammers and picks, and intended to sever the transportation connecting the two islands. No one from the slums would take action, even though Higo was unable to stop them. His optimism for a better future began to disappear until someone across the bridge howled in desperation, making everyone freeze.

"PIRATES! P-PIRATES ARE COMING!"

As quickly as they had gotten over their fright, the villagers were gone, their only evidence being the sound of footsteps becoming further and further away. Nobody else on the bridge except Higo, who was left to blink in wonder, as he didn't understand what about pirates elicited such terror from the locals. Wishing to discover the answer, Higo also chased after them. When Reaching the docks, he was at the end of the crowd, but he could see it clearly in the distance. The Jolly Roger of the Hades Pirates, the three canine skulls on its flag waving in the wind As they docked, Shira "Rabid Mutt" Rinu, one of the Shichibukai, was the first to step off the ship. As soon as she had ordered food, drink, and a shipwright, she made her approach to the settlement. Hino could not help but gaze on in astonishment as the rest of her crew strode onto the pier, and all the locals hurried to obey her orders. Was this the power of an infamous pirate? As he gazed upon their notoriety, he desired it for himself. Throughout the coming days, he observed them from the shadows but was unable to summon the confidence to approach them until, eventually, the day before they were scheduled to set sail, he was able to find the bravery to approach them. As soon as he discovered it, he began to run as fast as he could across the bridge, arriving at the pier in terrible condition, just having a little bit of life left in him. "Please, let me join your crew!" was the last thing he was able to say before he collapsed. Even though Shira was somewhat emotionless, she asked one of her crew members to pick up the child and carry him aboard the ship.

Higo's life changed drastically from that point on. On the seas, he had a whole new life to contend with. As he did everything he could to keep his place on the crew. He had to work extremely hard and do anything the crew requested of him. However, the crew didn't treat him like trash; they fed him, cracked jokes with him, and felt that he was on equal ground with everyone else. Watching the crew fight brought him back to how much of a different level he was compared to them, reminding him of how strong they were with pirates being so effortlessly annihilated. When they'd amassed their loot, they threw anything that they did not consider essential to the side, but Higo was intrigued by the numerous discarded items. Working out new ways to use things on his own gradually adopted a new habit: scrounging everything he could find and reusing them as tools. Eventually, he returned with the crew at their base on Toppo Toppo Island, a doughnut-shaped landmass with a large mountain in its centre that passes the clouds. He spent many days here living among the crew, but that peace would eventually end.

Eventually, one of the members returned with something precious, a Devil Fruit. It was met with disbelief by everyone on the crew, and the entire group swiftly had it placed under lock and key until the captain decided what to do with it. But, another man had other plans. The quartermaster, Garland. While walking one night, Higo's ears perked up at him while he was having a conversation with himself about how he planned to acquire the devil fruit and leave the rest of the crew behind. Hearing this, Higo's first thought was to tell the others...but then an idea came into his head. If he could manage to thwart the plans on his own, he could demonstrate his worth to the rest of the crew. This was it, right here! This was his big break! He prepared for the confrontation by equipping himself for the fight. Finally, the day came; as Garland broke into where the Devil Fruit was being contained, Higo charged in right after him, and a completely one-sided battle took place as Garland beat him into the ground. After that, in the final desperate move, Higo consumed the Devil Fruit to make sure Garland would not obtain it. To punish him, the quartermaster viciously beat him, after which he turned the tables on him. Dragging him in front of the other crew members, he claimed that Higo was the one who broke in and then ate the Devil Fruit. Higo was silent from the pain and the knowledge he had no way to defend himself.

Over the next couple of days, he found himself back to the position he was in years ago, berated, bruised, and looked down on. Forced to wait for his persecution to begin, all he could do was dwell on how if he was stronger, he would have been able to stop it. He would have bested Garland had he been a greater pirate. Almost as if reading his mind, Garland stepped in front of him, a smug smirk on his face. "Someone like you could never be a true pirate."

Ultimately, Shira reached the judgment on the fate of Higo. He was given a raft and sent to drift at sea. This left the decision about his future in the hands of the oceans. Hino spent several weeks floating on the sea without food or drinkable water. He didn't know how many hours had passed during that time as he was constantly gazing at the sky. Almost by a miracle, land came into view. When he got there, it was devoid of a single soul. He could now eat and drink, and as a result, he could think more clearly.

Given that he no longer is a member of the Hades Pirates, what could he do now? The only raft available to him was small, and he had no method for reliably going to another island. There's nothing he could do. Then it came to him. He had a new power that he had yet to test out.

Through trial and error, he began to comprehend the underlying workings of his Devil Fruit on the island. It was a valuable tool, but unfortunately, it was not reliable for leaving the island. So came plan B. Carrying as much food he could, he tried to get back on the raft he rode in on, only to have it break from the excessive weight. ...Time for plan C., Higo had built rafts out of everything he had on the island, and each one was as bad as the previous, but while the quality did not improve, his knowledge of how to control them on the water rose. Over time, and with increasingly less difficulty, he progressed away from the island until something went wrong, and he had to escape back to the island by using his devil fruit. It wasn't until he had sailed away from the island altogether that he was free. Things were looking up for him.

At last, he discovered what he was genuinely seeking in life. To become a great pirate, one whose infamy would subdue all opponents before a fight could even start. With this resolve in mind, he drifted at sea once more...

Over the next couple of years, regardless of how many people he took on as crew members or how many ships he commandeered, every venture failed. He must have been the unluckiest person alive. While his recent attempt to join a pirate crew broke apart, Higo languished in sadness until another pirate within earshot started talking. A map detailing where to find One Piece in the West Blue had been found. The opportunity he had waited for finally arrived, thus granting him a shot at the long-forgotten title of Pirate King. Returning to sea, he set sail westward, intending to flow to the West Blue.

Even after showing up late to the party in a ship that was much smaller and slower than all the other pirates that had sailed by him, his thoughts wandered aimlessly in contemplation of what he would do with the One Piece. He slobbered over himself, and drool dribbled down his chin. However, when an explosion filled the air, he was forced to snap out of his daydream. From his spot on the sea, he watched the Milestone happen with his own eyes; he had been lucky enough to avoid being caught in the fire of the Buster Call, just barely. Though his mind was blank while he tried to put the pieces together, the massive wave that was rapidly approaching served as a momentary return to reality, as he was quick to struggle in vain before being swept away by the surging tsunami. At first, it seemed this was ultimately going to be the end for him, but upon waking up on an unknown island, it looked as though he'd narrowly dodged the jaws of death...but once again, his plans to rise to the top smashed. Where would fate lead him next?

Primary Aspiration: Row! Row! Fight the power! Nicole wants to help create a world where the governing powers are held accountable for their actions.

Personality:
Nicole is a loud and fiery young woman. She has a passion for life, both the big and small parts of it. Her bravado can be infectious, making her a good person to rally the troops. She's known to use words like “kid," ”lady,” “doc,” “pops,” “old man,” “grandma,” or “gramps,” when talking to certain people, making her seem rude even though that may not be her intention. Although she may be aggressive at times, she's one of the most loyal individuals you're likely to meet. She's quick to step into situations; sometimes maybe too quick. She's a rough-and-tough big sister, surprisingly good with kids, and likely to raise hell if anyone close to her gets hurt.

She likes being one of the guys. Drinking, playing darts, poker, arm wrestling, etc. She swings toward the ladies and quickly gets irritable if a guy tries to hit on her. She quick to direct them to try their luck elsewhere, but if a guy pushes their luck...well...many bar fights have been started this way. She'll also butt in if another woman doesn't look like she wants the attention. If they do seem to be enjoying themselves, she stays out of it until the situation changes. She's less aggressive toward other women when it comes to budding romances, but she's not likely to flirt unless the other woman starts it, or they've flirted before in the past.

In summery, Nicole is a person that operates off of her gut, it may not be correct all the time, but you can't deny that she has a heart of gold.

Character Flaws:
Her fiery passion makes it easy to start a scene, weather it's a bar fight or stepping up for a friend. She can lose track of how many alcoholic drinks she has drank, especially when celebrating; It's easy to tell when she's drunk because she gets very sentimental. Her reactions are based on how she sees a situation, and when it comes to problems, sometimes you just gotta punch them.

Skills:
- Singing
- Playing guitar
- Repairing/building guitars
- Athletic

Fighting Style:
Nicole is an agile brawler. She punches, kicks, and sometimes knees her opponents. She is also known to improvise; for example, if a marine was holding a megaphone, she might just take it and shout in his ear.

Weapons Carried:
None

Unique Abilities: None

Backstory:
Silverhand Island. Ruled by corporations and backed by the marines. Bribery runs rampant; if there's trouble, the local marines always side with the rich. I guess you could say it keeps the peace. Outside the gated community of the wealthy, the common folk toil away and live their lives as a cog in the machine; consuming product after product that promises a better life, feeding a never ending cycle.

Nicole wasn't born with a silver spoon, but she did have a fiery soul. Sometimes it got her into trouble, other times it got her out of it. Gifted with the talent of Rock and Roll, Nicole spent a lot of her free time playing her guitar. It was the one real freedom she had, but when she stopped playing, she was reminded how miserable life was. But that didn't stop her. She was determined to enjoy life, no matter how restrictive the rules were.

She didn't know it at first, but her guitar was a golden ticket. Discovered by a wealthy music producer, Nicole was able to hop into the world of the rich. She was thrust on stage and became another beacon of hope out of many. She sang about rising up and holding those in power responsible for their actions. At first her producer complained about it, but the corps quickly eased his mind. They didn't think people would actually rise up. They were wrong.

The common people still recognized Nicole as one of their own. To her credit, she never turned into a snob and welcomed her fans with open arms. In secret, she was approached by some of her fans. They were clamoring for a revolution and wanted Nicole's help. She agreed and started to put codes in her songs.

As much as the corps wanted to squash any rumors of rebellion, word got out and reached the Revolutionary Army. A small group infiltrated the island and observed. Through investigating, they discovered Nicole's secret figure head status of the rebellion. It wasn't long until the corps did the same.

She was given a choice. Only sing songs that her producer wrote, or be arrested and never step foot an stage again. It was an easy choice. As she was being lead to the jail, a full blown riot broke out. The Revolutionary Army swooped in to save her. They offered to take her with them back to the main force. With nothing more than the clothes on her back and her guitar, Nicole left Silverhand Island behind her. The rebellion failed, but she had hope that they could try again another day. She was pumped for what laid ahead, but unforeseen circumstances struck.

The Revolutionary crew received word of the map to the One Piece. As the closest Revolutionary ship, they were ordered to investigate. They should have known it was a trap.

Name: Alicia Harte
Nickname: Alicia (Prefered), Anything you like
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Species: Human
Height: 5'8
Hair Color: Blueish White
Eye Color: Light Blue
Position: Janitor
Personal
Personal Goal
To atone for her mistakes and do her best to make others happy.

Likes: Observing Celebrations, Exploring, Being useful to others, Music, Chores
Dislikes: Scoundrels, Fighting, Being a Burden, Upsetting others, Breaking Rules

Personality: Alicia is a very meek though incredibly loyal girl. She cares greatly for the sake of others attempting to do anything she can to make someone else happy. She can be quite patient awaiting for the right time to act able to keep calm and collective so long as she feels as if she isn't doing anything wrong. She tends to be very observant, keeping an eye upon a situation to get a better understanding of a situation. For those she serves under, she possesses a great sense of loyalty towards them being unwilling to betray them. If pushed, she will do what she thinks will be best for them even if it might negatively effect her in the long term.

Alicia tends to allow others to walk over her, being fearful to do something that might lead to trouble. She has a tendency to have trouble to voice up her own desires, instead inferring to what others want. She will often keep her own feelings to herself about a situation unless she is questioned directly, being incredibly reluctant to voice her own opinion unless asked to. Her very meek demeanor makes it hard for her to really talk with others often keeping herself more in the background. She views the purpose of her life to serve others believing it was her own selfishness that caused the death of many in her past viewing her own life only worth living for the sake of others viewing her own happiness to be otherwise unimportant. She tends to allow her own guilt to constant fester inside her causing her to have rather low self-esteem.

Clothing: Alicia tends to wear a rather standard maid outfit always seeking to be ready to get down and dirty to cook, clean, and serve. While she tends to wear that outfit the most, she does have more casual clothing she might be coaxed to wearing instead around others if she can get over her need of feeling she has to be lesser of others. She enjoys wearing simple dresses or nicer clothing even if she might be hesitant to wear such things.
Abilities

Devil Fruit: Giant Giant Fruit: Model Jotunn
Type of Fruit: Zoan
Advantages: The devil fruit gets her strength as if she was a giant (proportional to her own). She weighs more then she looks as well having the same general weight as a giant scaled up from her own size. She gains a general resistance to cold making her more resistant to extreme cold. With the fruit she has the potential to grow in size to that of a giant proportionate to her size although she hasn't learned to use her fruit in that way.
Disadvantages: She is more susceptible to extreme heat. Her heavier weight can potentially become burdensome in certain environments or situations. She can have trouble adjusting her own strength requiring her to be extra careful in delicate situations.

Fighting Style: Despite possessing a Devil Fruit, Alicia isn't much of a fighter. If she is forced into a fight, Alicia will often grab whatever hard object is closest in order to attempt to swing wildly to strike the person and stop the attack. Fortunately for her, her Devil fruit grants her a large amount of strength making her blows a lot stronger then what a typical human of her stature is capable of. Her attempts to grab something to bat away a threat can at times end rather oddly when the only thing she might find near can be a couch which she can end up swinging around at an incoming attacker without too much effort. The extra weight her devil fruit grants her can help her stand her ground much easier if someone attempts to push her or knock her back (although it doesn't change the pain she would feel).
Background
Backstory:

Alicia Harte was born in Grafwell Enclave, a somewhat isolated island surrounded almost completely on three sides by shallow water and tall rock peeks jutting from the water. Her father was Lucious Harte, an Archaeologist who had told tales of having explored all the seas (something that likely was more of a tall tale). Her mother was an ex-pirate who had apparently bumped into her father by accident upon her crew capturing him and the two had fallen in love shortly after when they went to ransom him off. Alicia didn't see too much of her father. While he had put much of his exploration work on hold initially, the call of the sea managed to lure him out once again when Alicia when she was barely a year old. While he sent the occasional communication back home, after a year all forms of communications were cut short as many suspected he likely was dead with no way to confirm what had happened to him. Despite lacking her father, Alicia didn't seem too effected by his absence in her life compared to her older brother.

Much of her early child life before her teen years was rather peaceful. Being a more isolated island, there weren't too many visitors. The island relied upon its export of some exotic types of plants and wood that had grow there, said to of been left there long ago by giants that had once lived in the island with what was left behind with just the ruins of some giant's building being left behind well pas the point of decay. With a limited number of people living there, she mostly found herself in the presence of kids a few years older then herself with only one child being slightly younger then herself although their family ended up moving away when she was around 8. She was a bit of a tomboy always acting tough and attempting to make herself stand out from the older kids. It was something that she was teased about quite alot particularly by her older brother. Even her own mother wasn't immune to the desire to tease her a little bit about it telling her how much it reminded her of herself when she had been out on the seas.

As the years went by, trouble started to brew for her island. While living in a rather comfortable environment, her island didn't make enough money to pay to become part of the world government along with a general fear of unintentionally raising the ire given a few notable individuals whom the world government wouldn't take kindly to. A group of thugs began to take reign in the seas around them. It became a more common problem as several ships that went out to fish or to trade were raided as the seas became much more dangerous. It caused a rather uneasy air around the village, something even a now 10 year old Alicia could recognize. While her village tried to find ways to avoid their ships being raided, they couldn't completely stop the raids from happening. It was only a matter of time before the source of the problem found its way directly to Grafwell Enclave.

A pirate ship arrived to the island one day waving its Jolly Roger high. Looking like a bunch of scoundrels the crew following their captain made their way to the town leader with the eyes of most of the villagers on them. It was there he proclaimed the island would be their territory and under 'their protection'. It didn't take long for many to recognize the markings that it had been the very grou p of pirates who had been raiding their ships, albeit with different vessels then the one in the harbor then. It was there the captain struck a deal with their leader taking a small 'tariff' and promising to stop raiding their ships in the process. It was a deal that left many a bit uneasy though at the same time a sense of hope that the stormy clouds holding over the village would finally be extinguished. Unfortunately it was only the start of much worst.

The nearly 12 year old Alicia had all but rejected the entire ordeal . She had seen how they pirates had strutted in the village. She didn't at all like the way they acted. She could feel something was wrong about it all. Hearing about the long lost home of a giant said to reside deep within the forest of her island the teen had attempted to set out to find it in hopes of finding some solution to get rid of the pirates. Her older brother Zachery nearly caught her in the act though she simply played it off that she wanted to just try and climb a tree. While he didn't quite buy it it was enough to cause him to drop the subject. The next day Alicia attempted to sneak off into the woods again, this time sneaking out when her brother was on a 'date' with a girl he liked to slip out into the woods. With what seemed like eternity of searching it had been sheer happenstance when Alicia was having stumbled in what was the ruins of a long since decayed giant's home.

Alicia explored the ruins of what had became just practically another part of the forest having long since overgrown into the ruined walls. While Alice wanted to find something that could be useful to deal with the pirates,it seemed there was little even left behind in any sort of working order. Much to Alice surprise she had found what appeared to be a relatively large piece of fruit that somehow didn't spoil partially sticking out from the dirt and the decayed remains of a bowl. Grabbing a pocket knife (she wasn't suppose to have) she went to take a piece cutting it free. Looking at it despite its age it seemed as if it wasn't bad. Taking a bite made Alice quickly regret it as the taste was horrible making her gag. Before she knew it the fruit itself seemingly changed as a strange feeling overcame her. Shaking it off and nothing thinking much of it she simply walked home not thinking much of it. When she got home, no only did she receive a rather harsh scolding from her mother but it was quite clear something was different as her hair had started to turn white. What she had bitten into had been a Devil Fruit.

As the days past the devil fruits effects started to become more prevalent. Alice found herself to be quite a bit stronger and heavier matching that of what would of been a giant roughly her own maturity. She unintentionally broke several things apply more strength then she realized and broke her old bed only to cause it to break under her new weight. It was clear to her mother that it had to of been some Devil Fruit she ate. Attempting to not cause any commotion Mizuki attempted to play it off as some sort of non-life threatening illness. It was likely some in the village might think it to be some sort of strange curse or worst if the pirates who had visited their island found out they might attempt to take Alicia with them. Alicia on the other side seemed to care far less about anyone finding out only more so complacently listening to her mother even if she thought it was stupid to bother to do so.

Several weeks had passed before the pirate ship returned though this time a much smaller ship in the fleet. While they had initially set up to simply push them to be on their protection their plans seemed to change. Rather then demanding their tribute they instead 'blessed' them with being made into their home base allowed to live there though forced to surrender to their direct rule kicking out people from their homes in order for the crew to take residence there as they 'build' their new stronghold for their leader who would show up soon enough. The people were outraged though they kept quiet mostly out of fear, not wanting to cause a commotion. Unfortunately for Alice she didn't like at all what they were doing and threw a fit. As the crew went to their ship, Alice throw a rock striking the one in charge of the ship in the back of the head. Her strength much greater from the devil fruit caused the man to fall down bleeding. Enraged he stormed forward with a few of his men as Alice went into a partial panic, putting in some effort was able to pick up a nearby wagon before tossing it towards the man in charge and a few of the pirates. The pirates went running away in fear, nearly tripping over one another as the villagers seemed both to be astonished as others cheered as it seemed as if the little tomboy girl chased them away.

If only the world was such a kind place.

Several days had paced since the pirates had ran off. Some unease filled the village as Alicia's abilities had been shown off. Mizuki did her best to try and ease the villagers down forced to explain it had likely been a devil fruit she had accidentally consumed. It left many rather uneasy though given the result it had left them to otherwise remain silent only being left cautious about the certain development. It was only made worst as some of the initial jubulation wore off as many more were left uneasy that the pirates might come back and retaliate, knowing the group she scared off hadn't been the captain or his main crew. It was very much possible they could return to get revenge for what Alicia had done. It wasn't long after that revelation had turned out to be sadly true.

The pirates arrived with several ships with their captain taking the lead. Having his eyes set on the island and given the insurrection by those he forced into his territory he sought to quell the rebellion with force. The land was far more valuable then the people. He and his crew quickly set off slaughtering the villagers, even children that they might come across. Bloodshed filled the streets as the group of pirates made it known there weren't the slack jawed group that Alicia had managed to scare off. They were far more then enough to take care of a measly little village with the force they had behind them. While a few decent fighters in the village managed to take out some fodder pirates they were little match for the captain's main crew. Mizuki ordered Zachery to take Alicia and run into the woods to attempt to escape while she attempted to fight off the pirates so others could escape. Doing so the two fled into the woods. Left to look upon the burning village as many laid dead upon the streets Alicia was left speachless as what was the start of a burning ember of guilt lit within her.

It was all her fault. She was the blame for it all happening, no one else.

A pirate who caught sight of the group as he laid on the ground, the very man Alicia embarrassed days ago, raised his flintlock as a last act of revenge for the embarrassment and shame she caused him. Ready to make a shot, Zachery quickly stepped in the way pushing Alicia out of the way before getting shot in the side. Grunting through the pain Alicia had looked worried upon her brother not realizing at the time he had been wounded as he yelled at her to run pushing her forward as he moved with her forward slowly bleeding. The small group of villagers left behind headed in deep in the woods were the pirates wouldn't likely bother to find them to the one place they could escape safely off the island. While the island was protected from all three sides, a particular place in the north east section of the island had a remote port in which a small craft could sail out from, a place few of the villagers knew about typically used by some of the fishermen.

Finding the hidden docks, those left were left all but devastated. It didn't take long for a few to quickly speak up against Alicia viewing her as the cause of all the trouble wanting to leave her behind. Her brother was quick to her defense raising a flintlock he had taken from the pirates demanding his sister be allowed to come and her not be blamed for anything that might of happened. Alice had only remained silent as such guilt swept over her. It would of been one thing if it had just been herself that had been hurt.... but the fact her actions had helped lead to so many of those who she lived with dying all but tore her apart inside as she felt all but empty. The remaining villagers did what they could to help patch up Zachery's wounds lacking their doctor to treat him having been lost in the village as they set sail taking two of the larger fishing vessels out to sea.

The group was left out on the sea for several days. With just a little supplies they were able to take with them they had to ration what they had. While it was enough to barely sustain them for the few days it might take to reach the nearest island, it still was far from comfortable. Meanwhil,e Zachery's condition only got worst. Missing a lot of blood and having no time to recover he became worst off as the devastating Alicia clung onto her brother trying what she could to help him all while being otherwise silent towards everyone else. Despite his condition Zachery tried his best to be upbeat to Alicia trying is best to fill in for their mother's absence trying to convince Alicia it wasn't her fault. Unfortunately he didn't make it as he passed away in the night thirteen hours before they made it to the nearby island.

Alicia was left devastated. While her brother had managed to get her a place on the ship before his passing, with him gone there was little left keeping them from allowing her to stay on board. The villagers weren't barbaric, as much blame as they might place on the girl she was only twelve. The continued to give her food and water until they made landfall. One particular man who had connections with her brother saw to it as the others left her behind to find her a place to be. It was there he met a rather wealthy family who ran the island nation they arrived on. They agreed to take Alicia in as a servant for the family and help raised by the other attendants. Alicia at that point still rather quiet had agreed without much hesitance. For her she was done being the rebellious type just wanting to do what was expected of her and to not cause trouble again.

As the years passed, Alicia started to develop into a fine young woman. While she was able to be a bit more vocal, she had softened up greatly from her early self becoming much more soft spoken. She saw herself greatly indebted to the family along with the other servants who had taken her in as one of their own. She did her best to try and do a good job learning out to cook and clean acting as a maid. She faced many hurdles with her Devil Fruit causing her a good deal of trouble at first, as she showed her more timid demeanor with each mess up as she tried to better herself. She viewed being loyal and doing anything she could do to help others as a way of redeeming herself from the guilt she felt deep inside. She avoided conflict as much as possible afraid to voice her own opinion or speak up.

Turning eighteen Alicia had found herself well accepted in the house. Her initial stumbling had all but ceased to be minor incidents even learning how to use a small part of her devil fruit to her benefit in lifting furniture for cleaning. She felt happy she could do something to make others happy. She worked herself as much as she could to do as much of the work as possible to give the butler's and maids less they had to tend to. She was worthless, but she could at least give those more deserving a chance at more happiness. Yet... she felt as if something was missing. It felt as if there was more she could do. She yearned selfishly to get to see the world but it was something she was willing to sacrifice. Still, it felt as if even if she was able to do such good for those she was around now that there was more she could do to make it up for her sins.

She wanted to find a way to make more people happy.

Alicia had been hesitant to speak up wanting to ask for permission to leave behind the family who had helped her so much. She felt guilty for trying to escape and that she wasn't worthy of leaving. it had only been the pressure of one of her fellow maids who had caught her mumbling to herself about it that pressed her to finally speak to the lady in charge. Barely managing to fumble out the question asking for permission to leave should she find work that she could go out in the world, the lady accepted. It was now only a matter of Alicia finding a place in which she could get work on a ship perhaps cooking or cleaning, or anything they might let her do. A task a little difficult for her that was made much more difficult with the Mirestone incident sending all her plans a washed finding herself on a small island of Lil' Amyth with things in chaos such dreams seemingly put on hold.

Name: Arabell Overcast

Nickname:

Gender: Female

Age: A secret~ (she is 40)

Sexuality: Bisexual

Race/Species: Human

Hair Color: Light Brown

Hair Style: Keeps is very well done, though it can quickly get frazzled under stress

Eye Color: Orange

Height: 5’10

Clothing Preferences: Simple yet Elegant is how she tends to go

Primary Aspiration: Reform or Take down the world government

Personality: Arabell tends to think of herself as an easy going and cool person to be around, however more often than not she tends to be stubborn and more on the overbearing side. Still she tries to act the part and is fairly good at it too, able to give sound and reasonable words when someone needs it.

She is overall a friendly person even if its easy to catch her in dumb and needless arguments, and when she’s hit a bit of a slump in the friend department recently. Arabell can only name a few people she’s ever hated, and when she doesn’t hate someone she cares about them very much. She will go out of her way to help anyone that she can, even at the cost of her own well being.

The only thing Arabell loves as much as helping people is getting drunk off her ass and partying. If there is ever a part around Arabell will most likely shove herself right in there and get wasted before you know it. She isn't very good (almost useless) at things that don't involve medicine but she thinks that part of her is very cute (its not).

If you ask her age she’ll say 22
Character Flaws:
Self Sacrificial
Stubborn
Savior Complex

Skills: Large amounts of medical knowledge, Can sober up very quickly, Appearing to be between 22 and 40

Fighting Style: Basic hand to hand combat, comparable more or less to the average Marine grunt, mostly relies on her Devil Fruit ability to gain upper hands

Weapons Carried: Nothing she would consider a weapon.

Backstory: Like many children growing up with ideals of a nicer, happiness filled future, Arabell had looked up to the Marines. While her father worked lumber mills her mother worked in Marine hospitals taking care of the injured that would come in on damaged Government ships. The little island town she lived on was a convenient rest stop for many World Government ships to pass by which gave the growing girl no shortage of Marines to talk to and hear the stories of their various wounds.

Arabell, who both looked up to her mother as well as the Marines saw no reason not to combine her two desires together and create a dream out of it. It was at the age of 22 that she would begin her schooling to become a doctor on a World Government boat.

The first 4 years of by the books learning passed like a breeze for Arabell who had been of course become cocky over it when she applied for positions soon after she had graduated. Her skills were luckily enough recognized and she was quickly taken onto a ship, her dreams were just about realized right then and there.

A month in, Arabell wanted to puke from sheer stress.

Medical school had never taught her how to keep someone bleeding out while under the shouting and panic of a ship’s deck above, she had never learned how to staunch the flow of blood from an open wound well enough to have it’s owner run right back into battle. No one told her that she might be at the business end of a pistol by a pirate who had managed his way onto the ship. Arabell stuck it out though, because there was one person who helped her through it, one Doctor Cruzmen

Dr. Cruzmen entire history was a mystery to Arabell, he wasn’t the sharing type, no matter how much she would prod for it. When she guessed she would usually get a couple of fists straight onto her head in response. The only thing she was able to squeeze out of anyone else was that he was a highly trusted officer who had been put onto the ship’s crew in order to help the new blood shape up into their roles as well as guide them. He did very little of either however, and preferred to stick with doing the bare minimum of what he needed to do.

Arabell...didn’t know what to think about the man. He was opposite to the ideal seasoned Marine she had imagined in her head, which was entirely annoying to her. So reasonably she made that his problem, deciding she wasn’t going to learn anything if it wasn’t going to be from him. It was convenient for her too, seeing as he was in fact a doctor.

She would still consider herself to be learning on that ship, for another few years she would learn all she would need to know about medicine on the ever changing tides of the sea. She still wasn’t certain of the old man’s kindness when she could barely get a grin out of him, but there was one birthday. One where she was served the most sentimental words that old man offered her, a request to do whatever she thought was right, as that was what it meant to be a Marine. She was then served the most disgusting fruit she had ever eaten, a Devil Fruit meant for someone apparently as trust worthy as Dr. Cruzmen.

As months went by after that she felt as though she ought to feel accomplished, that she was doing something worthwhile, that she had gotten somewhere. But there was a shift, she and her fellow Marines were being put on more and more dangerous missions for...something, because like always they never received any real information. They were just served more orders, they needed to root out more and more pirate ships, find out where some big names were headed, how close were they to Mirestone of all places and how long it’d take for them to get there in relation to their positions.

It was a tickle in the back of her mind, something she could try to just ignore, they were still doing good things generally speaking. Maybe this was just...a warning system, yeah, so they could warn the islands ahead of time so they wouldn’t get ransacked by those damned pirates.

Then the worst day of Arabell’s life happened. She had been a part in the Mirestone massacre, after all.

She didn’t know what was worse actually, being on one of the ships to shoot it’s weapons into the island or being one of the people chosen to go through the untouched pirate ships for anything valuable.

Arabell can’t really say she quit the marines when she just disappeared the very next day off some life boat in the dead of night, storing provisions and whatever alcohol she could get her hands on. Drinking the night and day away till she hit a shore one some random island. Whaaaatever, she had money, she’d buy a room at an inn and...who knows, wonder about what could have been done differently….

Could something be done differently?
