"Kadelin, the storm is passing," Light would inform his champion, and Kadelin would turn toward the entrance to the cave, seeing that the winds were dying down and the chill had started to retreat, "Go outside and bask in my light, Kadelin."

Kadelin, with no small effort on his part, would pull himself up and try to drag himself to his feet, but he would stumble and drop to the floor on all fours, gasping and groaning as he pulled himself up again and forced himself to stand up again. The Champion of Light would stumble with heavy exertions toward the entrance of the cave, where the skies were already clearing and the stars were coming out, the great figure of the luminous moon shining big and brilliantly in the night sky. Kadelin would push himself through the cave to the entrance, finally dropping to his knees as he makes it outside, looking up to see the stars and the moon with no small amount of joy. Then, the champion did as his patron ordered, he leant his head back and basked in the light now falling upon him.

The light would seep and surround him, ribbons of silvery light being cast around him, swirling around him as the light absorbed into him. Colour would return to Kadelin's cheeks, his breathing would slow down and calm, his heart would gently return to normal, and strength would gradually return to him. After a few long minutes in the moonlight, Kadelin would finally recover, pulling himself back onto his feet easily before turning back and walking into the cave again. He would look so much better now, complete with a gentle silvery glow that would surround him, looking to the others with a smile.

"Sorry about that," He would apologise, "But I'm feeling much better now, with the skies cleared. Glad you managed to deal with those monsters. I cannot feel their presence anywhere near us right now. Is everyone alright?"

Two more figures would slowly come into the cave as the others waited out the storm, at least two that she noticed. "Fire's champion," explained Darkness to Skrawith. "Fire's champion who seems to be holding Water's champion and Water herself."

Unaware of the discussion going on between Fate and Time, the champions would sit there, waiting out the storm. Skrawith continued to watch the others as she worked on her bow, undoing the string and laying it aside as she ran the rag down the underside of the bow before reattaching the string to both ends of the longbow. Capping the resin top again, the avian champion slipped jar of resin and rag into the front pocket of her bag before closing it. The warmth of fire she had sensed despite the storm outside before they had come inside, unaware that they also sensed her as well before coming in and depositing an unconscious figure on the ground. The person who was Light's champion remained in a...well she could only assume it was an exhausted state upon the ledge. That was, until the storm suddenly faded and Light's champion got up to begin making their way towards the entrance of the cave.

"Shifter...elf...human...Avian. Fire....Water...Light...Darkness. That leaves air, earth, and emotion. There's an odd pattern here. Dwarf...Orc...Siren remain left...unless one of them has already chosen a champion and is not here yet," mused Darkness thoughtfully. As Light's champion came back inside the cave, he apologized for leaving and that he no longer sensed the beasts lurking around outside in the immediate area before asking if everyone was alright. "Strange," mused Darkness to herself. The wraith-like woman moved further from Kadelin as he came back inside. He was still weak, she knew as was her brother, but he had some energy she could sense from recharging himself under the starlight and moonlight. "Four spirits choosing one member of each race. A storm and beasts that disappear all of a sudden," spoke Darkness. "I have a feeling we are being played with." It was the first time Darkness had spoken aloud to anyone, barring Skrawith and her eagle-avian teacher she'd chosen that had followed the night. "Water, how did your champion come to be in such a state?" she questioned, turning towards Water's form.

Location: Cave
Interactions: Technically everyone?

Hissing as a small, yet sharp piece of ice slashed thru her leg, Avani observed two unfamiliar faces were on their tail. She studied them as they introduced themselves. More humans… maybe just one human? The human’s face was radiant and handsome with determined blue eyes, the other was rough and grim with glaring red ones.

Beaming as the Water champion regained consciousness, Avani paused and tilted her head quizzically. The Pathfinder taking his staff back gone unnoticed. “When did you learn my name?” She then shook her head as the rest of the Nicholas’s words registered and gave him a worried look. “Are you well enough to fight-” The howling of multiple feral beasts cut her off as they sprinted towards the trio at full speed, Avani lifted her staff and twisted it into the ground. The soil beneath the creatures went soft as the beasts began sinking into the earth, swallowed by it and sealed.

Avani lost track of time after sinking several beasts, tripping them with tree roots, and slamming them over the head with her staff. Avani leaned on the staff, panting heavily. She stopped to stare at the champion of Fire, watching him battle with fury and vigor. Something about this display of power made her nervous. Somehow having a sense of escalating tension, Earth interrupted her train of thought. “The only being that will bicker longer than I can with Water is Fire.” the spirit muttered in a dry tone. Assuming the spirits were having an argument she could not hear, the siren went back to fighting.

When the last few charging beasts were slain by Nicholas, Avani squealed as the gore splattered over them, and examined her blood doused arms in shock. “Happy about what, you-” Nicholas fainted again. Her face went from a grimace of disgust to concern and rushed to his side. Avani froze as the skin walker approached and slung the elf over his broad shoulder with little effort, turned to her and gave her a nod. Trying to mask her uneasy expression, she followed from a safe distance.

Rasmus and Kadelin were sitting in the cave, Avani’s wariness turned to curiosity after seeing another addition to the group. Choosing to sit beside the unconscious elf against the wall, she pulled her knees to her chest and stared at the avian. Avani hated birds. Whenever she was on the rocks they frequented, most would come to squawk and peck at her. Sometimes resorting to dropping stones from above onto her head, forcing her to dive back into the water. This one looked too tall to fly, but she still had wings, even bigger ones for supporting larger rocks. She huffed and felt a healed knot on her head left years ago, unconsciously glaring at the birdwoman.

She stopped when Kadelin came back into the cave, enveloped by an ethereal glow. He did not look in any way haggard as before, and Avani only realized he was asking a question when her spirit pointed it out. “Y-yes!” Avani stuttered, “Thank you for asking.” she shyly stared at her feet. Earth manifested himself beside the fellow spirits and gave Water an incredulous look. “This is the second time your Champion has fainted. Have you even bothered with endurance training?”

This was too much at once. Two years, two years I’ve been wandering with no leads or end in sight and found nothing. Rasmus thought, pacing around the cave and seemingly losing his mind. The Champions of each Spirit were here and present in his stomping ground and were gathered to combat the Dark One. Rasmus liked to faint as the spirits then materialized to where he could see, and not just that, he could hear them!

Stopping his pacing for a moment, he realized the storm had subsided. A wave of calm rushed over him as he scanned the cave to see the entire party. “Earth, Water, Fire, Darkness, and Light.” He counted aloud. “It’s like home in Gavony again with my siblings.” Only now realizing his Pathfinder’s staff, the gem seemed to be having a swirling fit of colors and hues. The presence of each Spirit making themselves known.

“Champions, erm... Spirits...” He announced, looking at the assembled crew and questioning with what formality to address them. “I can lead you to anywhere in these woods you wish to go.” He cleared his throat. “If there’s any plan for movement, id like to know, else we could take this time to draw one out.”

Water gave Earth a sharp glare before turning to Darkness. “I’m not surprised, honestly. Given the storm he just created, and forming ice, he wore himself out. And Earth,” Water turned back to the other spirit. “I’d like to see your champion hold out an earthquake for more than a minute, given that’s what you’re asking mine to do.” she replied, albeit a bit rudely.

And, might I add, the only reason he keeps getting injured is because none of you help him! How is he supposed to keep you all alive when you won’t do the same? Not you, of course, Avani, precious darling.” Water continued her rant, secretly hoping someone would notice what she said. There was blood in the battle, yes. One does not escape from under a nightmare beast without getting a bit scratched up. The human healer seemed nice. Perhaps he would be friendly towards Nicholas. Earth and Water were closely intertwined after all.....

Naald nodded confirmation to the Light Champion silently whilst finishing chewing the last morsel of rabbit he had saved up. They would have to go hunting soon to maintain a food supply.

Fire boomed a roaring laugh as he blinked into existence once again. Twice already?! As expected, you know Water doesn't do training - she coddles until there's nothing but self doubt and lack of confidence left. A Champion must be left to grow! The spirit extended a flaming arm to point at his own champion, I have never nurtured this one and yet he hasn't fainted once. Fire had pointedly ignored Water's presence since Naald had picked up her Champion, but now directed his words to her, Keep him alive? Why the blazes would you need to do that? They should be able to take care of themselves by now.

Naald rolled his eyes at the words of his spirit; the spirit was brusque and ill-mannered as usual but it wasn't like he could do anything about it. He didn't understand why his patron was so intent on antagonising the people who were supposed to be working together with him. Magical healing was magical, yes, but it would be a great expenditure of energy to use it for every bump and scratch, so he had to clean the various wounds himself to prevent infection and maintain general hygiene - the Water Champion seemed out of commission for a while so he instead so he instead opted to boil some of the water in his canteen to sterilise it.

"Clean blood?" he offered to the champions who were a bit more worse for wear, such as Earth and Water's, who seemed to be soaked in the stuff.

Rasmus blinked a few times, realizing his selfishness. They’re hurting dumbass, they aren’t ready to go anywhere. It was as though his sister had infiltrated his mind all the way from home.

Looking around the cave, Rasmus found a natural basin and began to fill it with some of the remaining herbs in his pouch. “Honeylilly, Ghostsage, Peacebloom...” He went on, thinking out loud as he crushed and ground the plants under a stone. As the plants became a fine ground powder, their pulp caused them to thicken up. He obliged to Naald’s offer on the boiling water, adding it to the basin and creating some kind of odd smelling salve. It was a go to for cleansing wounds in Gavony. The salve could disinfect and accelerate the body’s natural ability to mend and scar.

He coated his hands in the salve, making them a brownish-green with thick paste before walking back to the group. He eyeballed the trio that seemed to be most in need, Skrawith, Avani, and Nicholas. “Who’s first?” He asked, holding both hands up and wiggling his goopy fingers.

Skrawith Vequaniel Ersumoh| Female | Species: Avian | Element: Darkness
Location: Cave | Interactions: R River Rose Beski Beski

"Ah Earth has arrived," commented Darkness. She watched as Earth's champion appeared. "A siren? How interesting that Earth didn't choose a dwarf or an elf." As Water answered her, after being interrupted by Earth who immediately began chastising Water for her training or lack thereof, Darkness sighed. Earth and Fire were the most stubborn of the spirits...Air was more like a child from what she remembered and Water was motherly. But, it had been too long since the spirits had interacted with each other. Over time, Darkness had sequestered herself within the mountains and shade of the forests, slowly drawing back from the forests until she was only within the mountains as her chosen had been born to the world. Fire materialized finally, again commenting on Water's actions or lack thereof concerning the other spirits even and their own champions, causing the wraith-like woman to narrow her eyes.

Water was at least polite when answering Darkness's question concerning them potentially being played with, before responding to Earth about his own words. "This prophecy has been a real nuisance to my champion these past few months," said Darkness though she did not elaborate upon the reasons. Skrawith had been an outcast since her wings had appeared. There wasn't much Darkness could do to change the scorn of the avian race towards those with gray and black wings unfortunately.

Skrawith lifted a finger and pointed from Rasmus to the water elf that was unconscious, silently indicating he should be healed first. Her injuries would heal as would her bruised wing though it would make flying and hunting a bit difficult. Assuming she could catch anything, providing there were no strange images of elements together again as had been custom for the past months.

After surveying each of his new companions, it was obvious that now was not the time to continue their journey, especially after that battle and when they had only just met each other. And then there was Rasmus, who was no champion at all. Should he even be allowed to be here? It is clear that he has skills, but still, the Champions would be facing the worst of the worst during their campaign against the Dark One. Would it even be fair to expose him to such dangers when he does not need to?

But Rasmus was right. They would need to come up with a plan against the Dark One. And they would need to find the other Champions, if the Dark One has not hunted them down already.

"Perhaps we should stay here for the night," Kadelin would suggest to the group, "It is clear that some of us will need to rest and recuperate before we can make our next move. And this cave should provide us with good enough shelter. Tomorrow, we will all need to have a proper talk, once we are all conscious again."

Light did not bother to intervene in his siblings squabbles. He would only sigh and stare on in annoyance at them, but he knew that trying to talk sense into them was never going to work. He knew them too well. All he could do is let them fight it out and wait until they tire themselves of arguing.

Rasmus grinned at his companions while his hands were coated in the herb salve. This stuff admittedly much more like dirt thanks to the Peacebloom. He looked over Skrawith, having never tended to an Avian before. “Don’t be shy, Skrawith. I’ve no spirit to bicker with. Nor does my patron Earth give us reasons to be wary of Darkness’ champion.” He gave her a reassuring nudge as she pointed toward Nicholas, who did look worse for wear.

He knelt down beside the Elf, moving torn clothing to get a better look at his wounds. “Male Valkyrie is back,” he joked, remembering his earlier comment. The cuts were nasty, as the claws of the beasts made no clean cuts. They were butchers, however he’d tended to his own wounds before. He began to smear the paste across the wounds of the Elf. “Your skin should scar much faster with this, especially given your Elvish nature... but know the acceleration may feel painful as it stretches back together. On the bright side, no worries about infection. The bacteria they carry usually calls for amputation if left unchecked for a couple hours.”

After a few moments, one hand was totally goop-free. “Took a lot damage, friend. We’re gonna need to get you his setup.” He joked, motioning to Kadelin who was by far the most armored of the group.

Nudging her, Skrawith flinched at the nudge she felt. Not used to contact from other beings, barring the birds she sometimes came into contact with and communicated with; it was an unsettling thing to have to experience. It was unfortunately something she would be forced to get used to, if she remained within her natural form now that she was back among society. She listened as he said he had no issues with her being Darkness' champion and then he went to go tend to the water elf as she had silently indicated, the smells of strange herbs wafting through the cave.

He then went over to Kaledin...the Light champion, barely listening to the previous conversation about potentially staying within the cave to sleep and then come up with a plan tomorrow. Rasmus offered his help of guiding them through the woods and she wondered why he would do so, much less what they...well most of them because there seemed to be missing two spirits.

"Air and Emotion though Emotion is the youngest of us and was made by humans, not by the natural world," came Darkness' explanation within her head. "Air is the one who gifted the Avians with the ability of flight....Water the gift of breathing underneath the waters of the world, Fire the warmth and protection to defend themselves from other races and predators that might hunt them. Earth gives fertile soils in which to plant crops and let sheep and grazing animals life...allows the plants to remain strong and sturdy within. Air is breathable. Each works together....without one, it affects the others."

Naald agreed with the sentiment that the group needed rest, though he himself was not all that tired at the moment. They had a somewhat secure shelter, access to clean water whenever it was needed, but they were lacking enough food for all of them, which would be necessary to recoup any lost stamina from the day - the Champion of Water was weedy enough as it was without starvation, and he didn't want to deal with a potential liability.

Though he may not have been adept at social cues, he was aware enough to understand that his presence wasn't the most comforting and perhaps even threatening to others, so he would have to excuse himself to allow his team to bond. Dealing with wolves had cemented the understanding that in a pack, trust was integral to teamwork, and those were things that had a scarcity of experience with.

"Rest. I hunt." He picked himself up and swivelled his spear back into his hands - if he went hunting, it would have the added bonus of Fire not being able to continuously bicker with the other spirits. Not waiting for assent, he propelled himself out of the cave with a blaze of flame and immense speed once again whilst mentally considering the dietary requirements of his party: he may have been omnivorous, but there was no guarantee that the others were, so he would have to forage for edible vegetation as well as meat. This was his speciality since this was a near daily activity for him whenever he would wander the forests, and while it wouldn't be a grand feast, he could at least ensure their continued sustenance for now without having to break into whatever rations his party may have brought with them - those should be saved for emergency situations. Every ten minutes or so, he returned to drop off a bundle of mushrooms, fruit, and meat in a pile before setting off again for the hunt with a practiced efficiency and completely wordlessly. He would stop when he felt they had enough, and then he would begin actually cooking it.

Nicholas slowly woke, hearing Rasmus approach. He smiled softly at the human, seeing as he was really the only approachable one. The Water champion was tempted to smack away the hands that pushed his clothing aside. He was an elf, yes, and he still retained a sense of modesty. But he knew that Rasmus was only trying to help. He didn’t like it when the human started with the salve.

The salve burned the torn edges of skin, grating against already abused tissue. It smelled awful, the mixture of pleasant-smelling healing herbs turned into some monstrosity. This time he did try to swat away the hands, only feebly in his pain. Though Rasmus joked, talking him through it, he couldn’t help but feel a little helpless once again. He reached out for the human’s clean hand, grabbing onto it with weak fingers. It was comforting, strangely, in his panic. “Hanta Hantanayel.” he whispered.

Rasmus continued with tending to Nicholas’ wounds, startled a bit at his hand being grabbed. It was a familiar gesture, as the oldest sibling, he’d always been the comforting pillar for his brothers and sisters, but he’d not felt it for the past two years since his journey had begun. He welcomed it though, brushing his thumb against Nicholas’ hand reassuringly as he finished his work.

Hanta Hantanayel? He echoed in his mind. “Hmm? Sorry, my Elvish is pretty rusty.” He glances around the cave, noticing Naald was bringing food back every other moment. “Better help yourself to some food and build back your strength. If you’d like, I can check and make sure the Fire Spirit didn’t poison it out of spite.” He joked, well, half joked. These inter-spirit quarrels were confusing to his mortal mind.

Skrawith Vequaniel Ersumoh| Female | Species: Avian | Element: Darkness
Location: Cave | Interactions: N/A

She watched as the fire chosen left the cave shortly after and headed outside, both water and fire being taken care of though water was the worst off of everyone. When Fire left after being treated himself, saying he would go hunt, she pulled her knees up to her chest and set her bow down beside her, watching the others and the flames flicker in the fire, the scent of boiled water flavored herbs reaching her nose. Though the fire was comforting and made the cave warm, together with the various bodies of the other champions, Skrawith remained situated against the wall where she'd sequestered herself and watched the activity, the scent of food soon reaching her nose. Meat was the most important thing to her, though she could...given she was just a human with wings...was easily an omnivore. However, she had become used to living off of meat as a bird and that was what she was craving at the moment. "Do not eat so quickly or you will get sick," said Darkness to her. Rasmus would chime in, saying that everyone should eat before the fire champion came back and she didn't quite understand why. Was Fire's Champion going to hoard all the food for himself?

"Broth...soup...water," hesitantly spoke Skrawith in a raspy voice. "Bone broth...heated marrow...nutritious." She wasn't sure if anyone would listen to her so she got up and made her way over to items that were brought in, searching through them and using her claws to strip the meat from the bones and bit through a leg with her teeth, searching through the mushrooms and other plant life to put into the broth. "Boil," she said, holding out the bone she was stripping meat from.
