Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

Kay had no intention of leaving the quarters until they were both ready to leave. The quarters bed might have been tiny but at least it still managed to fit both of them on it relatively comfortably. The longer she was away from Rinaa the better in her mind as she knew she'd have to mentally prepare herself to deal with her.

When he wrapped his other arm around her, pulling her closer it was that one action that said so much to Kay about how he felt where he was right now in this very moment. Like him, she knew she was where she was meant to be, she didn't need a planet to tell her what her home was. John was her home. "Good" she simply replied, she looked him seeing his half smile and half smirk and she smiled back, before kissing him deeply.

It was a sign of how much had changed for him since the two of them had first met. When she kissed him, there was no other thought in John's mind except to kiss her back. And to make it damn good one. So he did, his kiss communicating all the things he would never put into words- the care, the gratefulness and the relief at not being totally alone. He had no doubt that Kay could interpret what he meant.

Each time she kissed him, she could sense and feel how much he was changing as a person. She knew there was no fear to kiss him anymore as he wouldn't push her away. This particular kiss though told her so much, a kiss that he had never given her before now, not including the hungry kisses from their moment in The House's kitchen.

She did indeed manage to interpret everything he was conveying in his kiss back. She didn't need any kind of magical link to him to tell her that. She was beginning to truly know him and that was enough for her to know what he was bringing. As he brought those emotions to her, she brought her own- the emotions of always being there for him and beside him, to fight alongside him through anything life threw at them, the overwhelming feeling of beginning to love him for who he is. Her arms draped over his shoulders as he let herself just slip closer to him.

And he could interpret exactly what she meant. And he appreciated every element of it, link or no link, he knew that she knew too. The one convenient thing about the link was that it cut out an really awkward emotional explaining he might have had to do. It was crazy in way, just far they had come in such a short way. He wrapped his arms around her, one hand around her back, the other tangling itself in her hair. There was no way he would be letting go any time soon.

They had come so far. She still remembered fondly now just how snarky they were with each other at their first meeting. How irritated he was when she ran behind him in that alley way before passing out at his feet. The time she finally woke up in his apartment and he called her sleeping beauty in a sarcastic manner. Now here they were not getting enough of each other, bonded for life and not imagining how either could cope with their shit without the other there.

It felt natural, progressive and right to Kay. His arms round her, and in her hair she knew he wouldn't be letting her go anytime soon. Her kiss became more passionate, more in need of him as her arms stayed round his neck. She wasn't prepared to let go anytime soon either.

John spent the majority of his life complaining about Fate and Destiny, mainly in the context of "why am I the shit-taker of the universe?" "why do I have to deal with this crap? Isn't there a celestial/demonic entity more equipped for this kind of thing than me?" But right there, right then, with Kay in arms and vice versa, he knew that for once Fate had the right idea. Naturally if anybody had told him that he would be thinking this way a few years ago, he would have laughed in their faces and told them just how off their scone they were.

He returned Kay's passion in equal measure with his own, pulling her right into him.

Like John, if her friends had told her, which they did several times actually, that she'd find that one person she'd want to love and fight for she'd laugh at them, ask them what crack they're smoking and love wasn't for her. She was too comfortable in being everyone's wing man when blind dates happened and she'd come swooping in with some made up story to save them from boredom or the creeps. Now here she was proving them they were right all along.

As he pulled her into him closer, she felt herself pressed against him. He was like a drug to her and pulling away was not an option when they got like this. She needed him like they needed oxygen to breathe. The passion in her kiss only growing.

A drug was the right description, John being no stranger to using (and abusing) substances. Sure some were actually for work purposes- like the crazy hallucogins that let him access higher planes in astral from. But the rest of them had just been because...... why not? They gave him a buzz and chased away the darkness. But his vice was always smoking. But ever since meeting Kay he'd been smoking less, not even doing it consciously, it had just happened without him knowing, just like many other things in his life. But he knew he'd have to stop soon, before they went too far.

Although there was no doubt in his that everybody on the ship knew what they were doing. But they would be stuck with Jay, Chas and Rinaa for the forseaable future, and that was already bad enough, no need to make it even more awkward than it already was. Not quite believing what he was doing, he gently pulled his lips from Kay's. "I have no complaints about all this, believe me, but at some point the others are going to demand our presence" He murmmered softly.

She had no doubt everyone on the ship was almost expecting and assuming the kinds of of things they were up to. After all, Jay did imply her and John would be at it last night and to go somewhere none of them would hear. Which at the time she did take some kind of offence to. She was able to control herself, contrary to popular belief, and last night actually proved it.

Yet she also knew in this moment they would end up going alot further if neither stopped the make out session. So when John pulled away she opened her eyes and bit her bottom lip smiling. "Right..you're totally right. Probably best to control ourselves so we don't get all kinds of crap thrown our way over it..so, rain check for a more appropriate moment?" she smirked. She just knew Chas and Jay wouldn't hold back with the teasing and taunting. She reluctantly pulled from his arms but not without leaving one last peck on his lips, and she sat up on the edge of the bed. She ran her fingers through her hair in the hopes it would make her look just that bit more presentable, before leaning down and pulling her boots on.

"We're going to get all kinds of crap thrown at us anyway" he smirked back, glad that Kay hadn't taken him pulling away in the wrong way. As he was pulling on his boots he realised they were starting to aquire an unpleasant aroma of foot sweat. He made a mental note to do something about that later. He ran his hands through his hair a few times, taming it back to it's usual level of messiness. The final touch was the trench coat which he had hung on the back of the door. "Shall we?"

The three others members of the crew were in the cockpit. Chas was flying, while Jay and Rinaa had pushed the rest of the seats out of the way to create a space open enough to spar in. Which they were doing. They were trading blows and dodges at a pace slightly faster than normal human, but nothing like the speed Jay had displayed against Elliott. They seemed to be evenly matched

"I don't doubt it.. pretty sure Jay already think we go at it like rabbits if her assumption from last night was anything to go by" she smirked back at him, grabbing her jacket off the floor that she had dumped there the night before. She felt glad she had a hair tie always round her wrist, as if she couldnt tame her hair, she'd no doubt have to tie it up, yet just for a change, she left it down, framing her face and resting over her shoulders.

"Hmm..let's go face the music as they say" she replied to him, standing up and walking out of the room with him, heading to the cockpit. She wasn't expecting Jay and Rinaa to find the space to spar in there, but low and behold they were much to her surprise. "Morning..afternoon..whatever it is" she greeted making sure to keep clear of the two sparring women.

Neither Jay nor Rinaa bothered to acknowledge their arrival, far more intent on trying to hit the other. They were both wearing headphones and listening to music as they sparred, John presumed this was to add an extra element of distraction to the mix. Rinaa was still masked, not deciding to do a face reveal for anybody today. Both had wrapped bandages around their hands and had gone barefoot. The cockpit wasn't the ideal space for dramatic high kicks or flipped, but they managed to fit them in anyway. The concentration was evident in both their posture and body language. This fight was them gauging up the other.

Chas turned around at their arrival and gave them a look before replying "it's been three days, and it's mid afternoon right now" it was hard to tell from his voice whether the cabbie was being serious or not. "I call bullshit Chas"

Kay really kept her distance from jay and Rinaa, and she wasn't surprised Rinaa decided to keep the mask up and not show any kind of reason to trust her by showing everyone she was trustwot
It was another tick in the 'she pisses me off' box in Kay's mind.

She looked at Chas when he turned round and acknowledged their arrival, giving them a look she could only assume was to try and work out if they'd behaved or not. John beat her to it in calling him out on his greeting. She found it hard to believe they'd been asleep for three days straight. The mid afternoon bit she could totally believe though. "Yeah.. no way could we have been asleep for three days" she replied.

"Never said you were asleep" he smirked, getting an eyeroll from John who leaned against the seat behind Chas. the cabbie gestured at Jay and Rinaa. "those two have been doing that for the past two hours or so. Originally Jay had the kickbag up, but then Ri proposed sparring instead. Hence this, they're evenly matched, but strange thing is, they have a very similar sparring style. Like spookily similar."

John looked at the two, Chas was right, as usual. He recognised Jay's style (from the fights with Elliott) in Rinaa's movements. It was at that moment that Rinaa flipped backwards into a backflip kick that very nearly caught Jay in the head. Luckily the latter dodged and countered with a viscious jab to the ribs.

Kay mirrored John's reaction to Chas' little quip remark in rolling her eyes also. "What is it with you lot thinking all John and I do is go at it?" she thought to herself. Did they really give off that kind of impression? She didn't think they did but it did get her questioning it for a brief moment. She leaned against the wall, using her arm as a pillar of balance, whilst standing next to John.

"Ri? So she's already earned nickname level with you huh?" She smirked, watching the two of them spar noticing the similarities between Rinaa and Jay. It wasn't exactly difficult to notice it. This was only solidifying her theory as plausible all the more. She just wished Rinaa would prove to them she was trustworthy and not just expect them to take Jay's word for it.

"Yeah, she has. As a matter of fact she doesn't like her given name, preferring to go by Storm or Rí." Chas replied. After a few moments spent debating whether or not to tell John and Kay what he knew, he lowered his tone and spoke again "whoever this kid is, she is majorly fucked up. She relies on sleeping pills and memory suppressants in order to suppress her mind enough to actually sleep. Not to mention the anti-psychotic drugs, not the light pills either, it's the heavy dose stuff." John raised an eyebrow in surprise. "How do you know this?" "I slept in the med bay, remember? She came searching for the pills last night"

Jay heard Chas out as he replied to her little remark then proceeding to explain the girl's situation. A tiny pang of guilt flashed over her before disappearing when he explained how fucked she was. She should have more sympathy for someone that bad. She almost ended up on medication herself for sleeping as a kid but luckily it never came to that.

She glanced at John when he asked how Chas knew that, which come.to think of it, she wondered how he knew that too, until Chas' reply answered that very question. "Poor kid.." she said honestly, glancing back at her before back to Chas and John. She surprised herself by saying it but even Kay was able to feel some kind of guilt and sympathy towards people she didn't trust. After all, if she could give John the level care and love, then surely she could begin to learn to do the same for this Rinaa.

John smirked at Chas "mate, it looks like you might be the only sane and normal one compared to everybody on this ship." It was true and Chas half smirked at that, he was used to being the only sane and rational person, that was his designated role after all. But being normal? He wasn't so sure about that. But John was right, in this case he really was the token normal guy. "seems like I am, mate. But since when is that a new thing?"

Jay and Rinaa finally recognised that they had company and stopped their sparring, ending with elegant bows. The sparring had taken their toll, both were sweating and thirsty. Bit they had already pallned for this, on top of one of the tables were towels and water. Jay flopped into one seat and wiped the sweat from her face with a towel. "You've decided to grace us with your presence I see, all the coffee is gone by the way, we drank it all for breakfast." Rinaa wiped the sweat from her neck, and in the process, revealing the extensive scratched scar tissue on her neck and the underside of her chin. It was as if something had tried to claw her throat out.

"let's face it... If there was another normal sane one here it'd take that away from Chas and we can't be having that now" she chuckled, her tone playful before the two girls noticed they had been in the room for a while.

When Jay quipped up with her little remark she was so tempted to come back with something but thought twice the moment she said about drinking all the coffee. "Of course y'all did" she groaned. Her American side showing through at that moment. She glanced over at Rinaa and saw the scar tissue on her neck, but she didn't stare, just looked back away from her. Deciding instead to just keep it in her memory bank as an observation. It did also make her think it was no wonder the girl was so heavily medicated at night. That kind of scar would screw anyone up mentally.

"So...how close are we now?" She asked deciding to change the subject.

John laughed internally at Kay's reaction, Chas mustering up a smirk too. Jay merely shrugged, not at all regretting drinking it "well over a third of the people on this ship are a combination of sleep deprived and/or insomniac. Plus there was nowhere near enough for all of us. I bet somewhere in one of the rooms is a massive stash."

Rinaa slung the towel around her neck, and leant on the area of the wall near Jay, which just so happened to be furthest away from Kay and John." That depends" she replied "how vital is coffee going to be to ensure we all get along without a fight for the rest of the journey?"

Just by seeing Chas' smirk at her reaction to no coffee, she knew John would find it amusing too. They were too alike in these instances and each and every time her America upbringing came up, they always found it amusing for some reason. She gave them both that squinted look as if to say 'yeah yeah..laugh at the half American why don't you'.

Kay then looked at Jay when she spoke, clearly not sorry at all. The moment she said what she did, she felt she bite her tongue to stop herself from saying something snarky about how despite how long it took them to show themselves today, sleep wasn't always way for both of them either. But she decided to take the high road just for once. Seeing Rinaa standing the furthest away from her and John actually made her happy, but she still looked her in the eye when she chimed in her two cents. "Very vital" she just said matter of factly.

"In that case I make it anywhere between two days and three, depending on how much sightseeing is done or how long it takes to get into a fight." Rinaa replied, not looking up from her position staring at her bare feet. Jay nodded her affirmation at the girl's calculations of journey length. "she's right. In other words, we're diverting to go find coffee.. and air filters. Along with any other items that could be deemed necessary. So if you think this ship is lacking anything supply wise, write it on the shopping list"

She gestured at the list that was tacked to the dashboard. There were various items written on it, some serious, others taking the piss.

Kay internally groaned at the time length but there was no way she could go another three days without caffeine in her system. She would get ridiculously grouchy and no one needs that on their hands. She glanced over at the list seeing one had already been started, which to her meant they'd have been on diversion even if she said it wasn't vital.

She leaned over, grabbing the list to look at it properly. Some of the things made her rise an eyebrow as she knew they were a piss take. She then looked around for a pen, before spotting one and grabbing it to write 'coffee or Kay hulk's out', her handwriting all linked up but clear to read, then adding generic stuff like 'decent food supplies' as she figured she'd be the main one cooking if she was awake. Cooking kept her calm and it'd certainly keep her out of Rinaa's path, whilst making her useful to the group.

After writing the bits down, she stuck the list back on the dashboard with the pen.

Jay and Rinaa's serious contributions to the list consisted of weapons, parts for the ship, tools, various types of chocolate and many, many cans of oxygen, as well as space suits. Intriguingly there was also Heist Equipment, and giving the current company, John couldn't dismiss it as simply a joke. There was a list of specific fabrics, threads and general sewing equipment. Chas had added various foods along with a selection of books. He'd also added to the list in block capitals ALCOHOL- for Chas's personal consumption. (That means you John!)

There wasn't much John felt was needed, he read through the list thoroughly before making his own additions "A bloody smoke." His handwriting was messy and detached. Jay looked over the list "This everything? I want to get all thses supplies, then get back on the way as soon as possible"

Kay wasn't at all surprised that John added cigarettes to the list. She had noticed how he was smoking a lot less since she'd been around so she couldn't begrudge him wanting some. Even if she didn't particularly like the habit, it was part of him and she accepted that.

Seeing Chas' addition of alcohol she smirked. "Yeah pretty sure that's everything" she replied as no one else seemed to reply to Jay. She pushed herself off the wall she was leaning on to stand up straight. She couldn't see any purpose for her to be in the cockpit at this time, "if no one has any use for me, I'm gonna go take another wander round the ship and find something to eat in the process" she declared, before walking off and climbing back down.
