Rinaa's shipment container

Fia sighed, seeing there was no getting through to Jay. She understood she was about to see Rinaa for the last time but she still felt like she was an easy target for Jay to throw any kind of negative attitude at because this timeline's Fia was who knows where. She was being penalised because of who she looked like, and she didn't know how to deal with that when it came to Jay. She saw how protective the dogs were of her though, and how the dogs did bring a smile to Jay's face. She now kept silent, feeling it was the best move to make, so she stared down at the ground, linking her fingers together on her lap. "Of all times to promise to never use magic, this is not a great time." she thought to herself, knowing if she portaled back using her portal rune to get back to Attil, she'd be in so much trouble with John and Kay. She wanted her parents and there was no way to get to them without getting into serious trouble.

Attil

Kay saw the smile appear on his face and listened to him as he said Chas seems to be unbeatable when it comes to trivia. Seeing him shake his head, she could tell he remembering something. "and what would that be?" She asked, curious to what his idea could be, though something told her it had something to do with the game he just moments ago mentioned. "Could it have anything to do with that trivia game by any chance?" She asked, smirking.

Jay sat there with the dogs, and waited, patience was one of her skills, she could and would pay the long game. And in this case it paid off. The dog's sensed it first, their ears pricking up and their heads turning in interest. The air distorted and rippled as Rinaa forced her way into existance at that location in time. Her eyes widened upon seeing Jay, but she was tackled to the ground by the dogs who acted as if they hadn't seen her in years. She hugged them and extensively petted them with one of the broadest smiles Fia would have seen on this Rinaa's face since they met. "Hey kiddo." Jay whistled for the dogs to get off Rinaa, which they did. No sooner was the teenager on her feet than she'd flung her arms around Jay, burying her face in her mother's shoulder. After a few seconds her shoulders began shaking and it was evident she was crying, finally having the right person around to be able to let it all out. Jay just hugged her tightly back.

Attil
"Kinda, but we'd have the advantage as this is the planet we live on, but I'd imagine the could make up some truly atrocious shite as guesses." Which on certain matters, could potentially be closer to the truth than his own thoughts. "I was thinking more along the lines of Cards Against Humanity as it's the one thing that can get meself and Renee in the same room without World War Three starting. Plus we added our own cards with our names and a whole load of inside jokes." Whenever they played, it would be one of the rare occasions where Elliott would drink. The game always descended into utter madness.

Fia kept waiting when the recognisable moment of a time travel portal opening up and Rinaa being all but spat out of it. She watched as the dogs pounced on her, knocking her to the ground and how she smiled widely at seeing them again. It actually brought a slifht smile to her own face watching it. The smile soon faded though when she witnessed Rinaa run at Jay, hug her and clearly finally letting out everything she was feeling by crying onto her mother. She glanced away to give them their moment, feeling like seeing this was only making her want her own parents all that more.

Attil

Kay nodded at the reply, finding he did have a point about that, but she was curious to what he really had in mind. When he mentioned cards against humanity she chuckled. She was glad it was one thing that didn't cause a riot between him and Renée, and she could only imagine the kind of chaos that would ensue with that game and their mad lot. "I've not played that game in years" she smiled. "Literally years, and even then half the time it'd be the online version and not the actual card version" she explained.

Both completely ignored Fia, this was about the two of them. Leah had always been tall and Rinaa was only a couple of centimetres shorter than her mother. Nothing was said for the first few minutes, both were too choked up to be able to verbalise their thoughts. But it was Jay who spoke first. "Let me guess, grave visiting?" the question was asked quietly and the answer was just as quiet. "Yeah, how'd you know?" Rinaa asked, tipping head to one side as she regarded her mother. "Leah" Jay looked her daughter dead in the eyes as she spoke. "I always know when you've been there.... just as you always know when I've been there." A very smile came over both of them. "Fair point." "So how long has it been?" A pause, then "just under two and a half years." Jay's eyes widened slightly in surprise, Leah hadn't aged the full two and a half years, but she held herself differently, and her eyes held more than they had the last time Jay had seen them. "So you can legally drink now?" She quipped, at which both of them snorted in laughter.

Attil
John smiled at Kay's reaction. He suspected that most people on the planet knew about Cards Against Humanity, and the only way to explain it was to play it. He'd discovered Cards Against Humanity through Elliott and Trish who both unknowingly bought each other a set for Christmas. All it took was one game which was filled with more sexual innuendos, inappropriate jokes, shitty impersonations and ridiculous exaggerations than any other gathering they'd ever been at. They were completely hooked. "Well that's going to have to change. It shall be one of the first things to do back on Earth. And the actual card version is far, far better."

Fia just kept out the way, she knew they were both ignoring her but that's how she wanted them to be for the moment. She wanted Rinaa to actually have this moment with her mother and not feel she'd have to be closed off from the world. So she kept quiet and stayed put where she was for the time being, knowing when either were ready to acknowledge her existence again, they would. For now she was enjoying not having Jay's wrath aimed at her.

Attil

For games such as this, that's when being a student was good. Even though for a lot of the time no one was ever in the same place at the same time, or for long enough, they still enjoyed at the time letting off some steam with offensive games. It so happened the online version was easy to access onto when not everyone was in the same place. Which lead to many days when they were secretly playing it in lectures on their laptops and not listening to the lecturer. "Sounds fine by me and I know it is, but being a student when it's difficult to all being the same place at the same time? The online version had its place. Mostly during boring lectures of art history and trying to not get busted" she smirked.

"Guess, I can. Do I even want to know how the others are?"
there was a hesitance in her tone, upping and vinishing wasn't her proudest excision, but she needed to be away from them for a while, to clear her head and think. "They're pretty shaken. Chas was the first to twig that something was wrong and that this wasn't just the typical 'avoid everybody til it blows over thing'. At which John lost his shit, unleashed an absaloute torrent of insults, blamed everybody in the apartment including himself. Cal and Cliff are on Attil, blaming everybody on Earth and I threw in some threats of grevious bodily harm and imaginative methods of death to sell the story that I didn't know what was going on." Rinaa hissed slightly and sighed. "Yeah, not my smartest decision. And I'm guessing one hell of a screaming match is brewing if any of them see me?" Jay nodded. "Yeah kiddo, you've really pushed the boat out this time, but don't worry. None of them know you're here, and I'm not gonna say anything unless you want me to."

Attil

John could see where Kay was coming from, but he'd never had that experience himself. Though John being John of course knew a relevant story from a friend of a friends mother's cousin's dog's sister that could be looped in. "Can't say I've had the experience, but I can see the use in boring life situations. I knew a guy who ran a Dungeons and Dragons campaign with the guys in the back row of the lecture hall. You dthinknthey were doing crack back there by the way he makes it sounds so exciting. And these were all smart guys and just absorbed the lesson stuff through osmosis." John let out a half laugh. "Gary fucking Greene, what a weirdo."

Fia tried her hardest to not eavesdrop on the conversation but it was a bit difficult to do when they were so close to her and she had nothing to occupy her mind on something else. That and she was slightly terrified to move incase Jay really did decide to hurt her just on principle. She mostly got her interest piqued when she mentioned how John reacted to the whole news. Hearing that he blamed everyone in the apartment she could only imagine a lot.of that would have been on the other Kay and her other self. She also wondered if the way John was over Rinaa, if that was partly why her other self reacts so badly. Not that she ever would condone the behaviour, far far from it, but it did make her think. Did her other self think that John cared about Rinaa more than her? Did he see Rinaa more of a daughter than Fia? She mentally shook the thoughts from her head as she knew it wasn't her so she shouldn't worry herself with them.

Attil

Kay chuckled at the fact he could still find someone to mention who would have had similar experiences to herself. "Of course you knew a guy" she sniggered. "I remember one time I had to do the picking of best cards and one was so damn good I had to try and disguise my howling laughter as coughing and almost fell off my stool, limbs going everywhere under the table and hands slamming into it to stop myself. I was ridiculously close to being kicked out of the lecture and being found out" she remembered fondly, she couldn't remember for the life is her what card it was, but she sure as hell remembered the reaction to it. "I had the other on video link and I could have sworn one of them pissed themselves from laughing at me" she added.

John and Rinaa's relationship was unconventional, but at the same time strong. There was no doubt that John loved Rinaa, but it was that love that became the problem. The most frequent accusation was that John cared more for Rinaa than he did his own daughter and no matter what he said, it wasn't believed. It was made out to be a binary choice, Fia or Rinaa, but John refused to make a choice, saying that turning his back on Rinaa would be the same as driving a tank over Elliott's grave. Even if she did have eight sets of DNA, Elliott's was one of the base pairs and therefore one of, if not the most dominant codes. This was Elliott's kid and he wasn't going to just abandon her.

"And the..?" Rinaa gave their personal nickname for this timeline's Kay and Fia, a particularly unflattering and insulting phrase in Jay's native tongue. Jay gave a tut and a shrug. "Quick to say it was just you going AWOL and that you'd show up in a few hours or days perfectly fine. To which I lost it and yeled something about the last time you went AWOL it was because you attempted suicide. At which point I actually got a reaction of shock and horror from them." "And then?" "Stormed out before I stuck a knife through somebody's skull. Been avoiding them ever since." Jay paused. "Which reminds me, the other one." She jerked her head towards the container with a look that said 'an explanation is really needed here.'.

Attil
"I always know a guy. Or a girl. Or somebody who doesn't subscribe to either of the previous options." John said with a shrug. John listened to the story and found himself laughing at the description of Kay trying not to laugh. He could imagine such a thing happening and how many weird looks must have been given by the other people in the room, espescially whatever lecturer had the unfortunate job of being paid to teach at the same time that these antics were going on. "That's a guarantee. Video chats going so wrong are up there as some of the funniest shit ever."

Rinaa's shipment container

Fia kept eavesdropping on the conversation and the moment an obvious insult was used for this timeline's Kay and Fia, she wished she had activated her communication rune to be able to understand what was being said, like she had done before in her own timeline. That being said, it didn't take a rocket scientist to work out they were insulting this timeline's Kay and Fia, before turning their attention to her. She really found herself biting her tongue when she was just considered 'the other one'. She looked at them both, before turning to Rinaa, "you gonna vouch for me being here to help you now? Because I'm still annoyed being jumped and held at iron knife point right now" she commented calmly.

Attil

Kay found herself laughing at the memory herself, and it was only spurred on more by having made John laugh over it. She found it more amusing because even in this relatively short time of being in each others lives, he had already witnessed himself how clumsy she could be and how much trouble she could get into if she doesn't concentrate. "Oh for sure they are." She agreed. There were many a time when video chats went completely wrong, she was just glad a lot of the time she had the audio going through headphones and on speaker.

Rinaa had kind of forgotten about Fia what with the surge emotions she got from seeing her mother and her dogs again. At the mention of iron, Rinaa's eyes flicked over to Jay, who gestured to the holster on her back. Turning to face "It's not actually an over the top reaction in this timeline. Espescially as in this timeline you don't know about this container's existance. So it's not really jumping to conclusions to see you interfering with my packed up stuff and sense foul play" she replied, giving an explanation of sorts. "But yes, this one's an otter, she can be trusted." The animal nickname was a reference to an Isogrii children's story which involved talking animals who had various degrees of trustworthiness. The otter was in the middle of the spectrum.

Attil
John was about to make some remark about how possessions gone wrong were the none technological equivilant of a video call gone wrong, then give some story related to a mate talking to him out of a dead corpse, but decided against it. "Remind me if we're ever up north to get my hands on the demon Vestibulon. He was trapped in a mobile phone and it's honestly the funniest imprisonment of a demon I've ever seen in me life. Although he watches an obscene amount of illegally streamed porn. And he talks in a strange mix of 17th century English, text talk and insults."

Fia accepted that that would be the case, it didn't however mean she liked it. She let Rinaa vouch for her in a strange way but she got it enough to know it's a positive thing. "See..as I told you" she replied, aiming it at Jay. "And I get why she did it, still don't have to like it. For someone who swore to not kill my other self, sure felt like she was willing to break it when the iron was burning my skin" she then aimed that bit at Rinaa. Her tone still calm but she was definitely getting her point across of her annoyance. The burn was healing but it was still there, as a black ashy mark on her neck, as I was the first time she had been properly exposed to iron, it meant it was taking longer to heal than when Kay was exposed to it. She also didn't have another half in her to help speed the process up like Kay did.

The next lot of words that came out of John's mouth was not something she was expecting from the current topic they were having. She rose an eyebrow but her face showed amusement. "O...Kay then! Consider a reminder to be had when we had. That is one of the most amusing and strangest things I've heard so far. Not THE most but one of them" she replied. He really was proving to her every day that things in his life was never truly boring, and she would never tire of his stories of such things. She also liked the idea of a demon being trapped in something ridiculously small and not roaming around tormenting people or herself. It felt like a great dose of karma in her eyes.

"The deal was kill and not majorly injure"
Jay picked up on the disapproval and annoyance, but if Fia wanted an apology, she wasn't going to be getting one from Jay. "Old habits die hard. And given everything that's happening, and how much of a forked tongue the other one has, I'd rather hear this from the source. I can only assume that whatever version of me that you know is just as skeptical and slow to trust. I can read your timestream, but not your personality." "A personality read would involve Jay forcing your consciousness out of control and breaking down every mental barrier and inhibitor you have present in order to understand you just as well as you understand yourself. It's painful, for both parties."

Attil

John could see the look of utter disbelief, shock, wonder and questioning her sanity spread over Kay's face as he gave a basic introduction to Vestibulon. Timothy Hunter (the teenage mage prodigy and one of the strongest mages to walk the planet), being the maliscious little fuck he was had freed Vestibulon from being a literal doormat in Hell (another long story) and imprisoned him in a modern smartphone. "Trust me on this, its something you have to see to believe. Actually, the friend who's birthday it is today? I gave them Vestibulon as a parting gift of sorts. I get the occasional text from him, bitching about something or another." He smirked at the thought.

(A side note, the phone demon is very much a real thing in the Sandman Universe comics)

Fia just rolled her eyes at Jay's initial comment. She wondered if she had inflicted harm on her other self before. She wasn't going to fish for an apology because she just knew she wouldn't get one, despite feeling she did deserve one. "Whatever" she retorted back to the next comments from both Jay and Rinaa. "I'm bloody glad my timeline versions are a better judge of character than you are" she just scoffed, aiming it at Jay mostly. She did get on reasonably well with Jay, even if she did have all the other traits in her that this Jay has and past Jay. Her own patience was running thin with Jay and she knew if she wasn't careful she was going to one hell of a hit by Jay because she wouldn't be able to hold her tongue any longer. Though if she did, she'd give her one hell of a return hit back.

Attil

Kay just knew there was a long long story behind this whole topic, but felt she might have to see this demon in a phone before hearing it for the sake of context. "I really don't doubt that, that's also one way of being unique in your gifting" she smirked and then chuckled. "just keep that type of gifting toward your mate and not me" she chuckled again prodding him in the arm with her other hand as she spoke.

(Oh wow XD! Also apologies for delay, my copy of final fantasy 7 remake came early and got distracted with that lol)

Rinaa nd Jay gave each other a look that seemed to communicate at least sixteen different thoughts between them. "Well, we're not them. So what's the plan now that you're temporarily back?" This was directed at Rinaa. "It had gotten as far as clear out the container, burn the junk, transfer the stuff from the armour unit into here, decided on the second best armour." "It's the back leather with the silver detailing and the dark green arm and leg bands. Plus it's more lightweight giving that it's for the wedding." Jay interrupted, having a list of her daughter's armour in her head. "Get these delivered somehow" she gestured at the four envelopes on the table. "After that there was no plan. Somebody with a better moral compass and a stronger persona than I've got would show up at the apartment, forgive everybody for every wrong they've done to me in my life, see my friends one more time, explain what I'm doing and why, then spill my inner most thoughts and praises out before having one night of blissful happiness. And maybe call my ex at some point, she deserves better." Rinaa sighed, letting her head fall against Jay's shoulder. "But I don't know if I have that in me."

Attil

John rolled his eyes. "We have a pretty unconventional friendship. It started with me being chucked out of a bar by them. Works as a bouncer y'see. It hasn't gotten any simpler, normal or easier since then, though that's kinda to be expected. But they're still alive so that's gotta count for something." He shrugged and rolled his eyes with a fond chickle. " Fine, fine, fine, but you have no idea what you're missing out on."

(Yup, he's a pretty minor character but it's one of those things that adds some humour and richness as the Sandman Universe/Vertigo comics are considerably darker than others. I hope you're enjoying it)

Fia just found herself glaring at Jay. "No shit.." she muttered under her breath. She watched as Rinaa replied to Jay's question about what was next, and she didn't realise she had so much left to do or was even planning to stay as long as she was. "Hate to tell you Rii but you gotta decide soon. But I think you do have it in you, you have a lot in you that you don't realise" she commented. She then sighed, "just tell me if you need me here or if you wanna send me back to Attil." She finally added.

Attil

"Are any of your friendships considered conventional by this point?" Kay asked with a snigger. When he chuckled at her next comment, she just chuckled back at his reply. "We'll see, we'll see!" she replied to him. "So..what you wanna do whilst we're here?" She asked him.

Rinaa's shipping container
"I have to agree on that point."
Jay didn't imagine she'd ever find herself saying those words, but life was damn weird sometimes. "Leah, you have so much in you, so much potential, intelligence, smarts, skills, experiences and memories. You can do so much more than you know, be it showing your face to the world or behind the mask and suit. If people can't see that, then it's on them, not on you. Within you is so much more than anybody could understand. Whatever you do, you will succeed and show the world, show them all who you are and that you're not ashamed of it." Jay gave the motivational speech and it was clear from her tone that she meant every word of it and that she loved her daughter with everything she had.

Attil
John scrunched his face into an expression of mock intense thought. "Hmmm, let me think......No." At her next question he just shrugged, there was no real plan. At some point food would come into it, but right now he didn't feel hungry. There was also a distinct possibility that he'd do extensive wandering and window shopping. " I hadn't really made a plan besides getting here and wandering around. We could spend some of Cal's money if there's anything intersting around. But I'd given it no thought outside of getting out of the apartment for a while. Any ideas? "

Fia knew what she said Jay couldn't disagree with, it was the truth after all. She listened to what Jay said to Rinaa, finding herself nodding in agreement at every word being spoken. She could tell Jay was very capable of love and loved Rinaa with her entire being. If she didn't have such an issue with this Jay, she'd find the whole situation really sweet. "You're mum's right. Even I've seen you put your mind to something and not stop until it's done right." She added.

Attil

Kay just smirked at his reply. "Thought as much!" She quipped back, until he shrugged at her next question. She kind of knew he didn't think up any plan as such, but she was curious if there was anything he wanted to check out in particular or not. Like him, she wasn't hungry either just yet, the breakfast having filled her up alot more than her usual breakfast choices would. "I hadn't thought of anything in particular either to be honest. Maybe just wander around and if any shops catch our eye go and have a look?" She suggested.

Rinaa's shipping container
Rinaa just nodded, her mind was made up, and it had been for over a year now. She needed to do this to clear the waters one last time. If they didn't accept it, well then it was their fault. "I know what I have to do, it won't be pleasant or fun, but I have to see the family first." She said with a sigh, pushing the hair back out of her face and surveying what was left to be put in the container. "At least that way if it goes badly, I can still go out with a bang with my friends." "They miss you kiddo, they've even taken to calling me trying to find any information or clues." "They're good people and worth everything." "More like family than the family themselves." Jay commented, tucking back the loose strand if her daughter's hair.

Attil
John could tell that Kay had given as much thought to planning the day as he had. Which was strangely reassuring. "That suits me just fine." He replied, casting his eye around him, properly taking in the shops on this particular street. He'd been looking at them, but not actually registering them up until now. They were an eclectic mix. Among them was the comic book store, various book places, small cafes in the upper levels of buildings, clothes shops, places that seemed to sell a bit of everything and stores that John couldn't label based on a single glance. Each had their own personality and charm.

Rinaa's shipment container

Fia nodded seeing Rinaa finally make up her mind properly once and for all. Seeing the family first seemed to be the obvious choice to her and probably how she'd go about it if the roles were reversed. Not much else actually needed to get back into the container as Fia had managed to get most of it put away before being jumped on by Jay. She was going to ask if she wanted her to go back to Attil so she could do this with her mother, when Jay made the remark about the family, which made Fia grind her teeth. She knew it was different family, and not the family she knew and loved but it still got under skin a bit hearing it, she just didn't fully understand why. "Rinaa what do you want me to do? I can't exactly be near this timeline's version of my folks or me. It's bad enough your mum has seen me" she spoke up.

Attil

Kay truly hadn't thought much into their day out at all. She just needed to get out the apartment and get some air, and that was far as she thought. She also looked around at the shops properly to see what types they were, but instead of looking at shop signs to find that out, she glanced at the products on display in the windows to work it out. She could work out the comic book shop and various book stores in general, the cafés were also easy to figure out. She loved the charm each store seemed to have. "Any shops stand out to you?" She asked.

Rinaa's shipping container
Jay had made the remark echoing something Kay had once said about friends and family, but she'd given it a sharper and harder delivery. Rinaa considered Fia's question. She knew it was one hell of a bad idea to even take Fia here to this timeline in the first place. Who knew how much worse it could have been if it hadn't been Jay who showed up. Even with her cold and hostile exterior, Jay was the one with the best understanding of time-travel and its complications. The reason being the attitude of distrust was simple, she'd trusted the other in the family to do right, and they'd broken that trust. Earning it back would be nothing more than a miracle. Saying her piece to the family and attempting to clear the air before she died was a thing she'd rather do without having the extra burden of keeping Fia concealed. "It's easiest if you go and never speak of what you saw or heard here. It would have been a better idea not to bring you here in the first place."

Attil

John had the advantage in a way as he could actually read the various signs and notices. His grasp of Attili language was far better than he thought it was. This was his first time being able to use the language outside of Earth with somebody who wasn't Elliott. "They all do in a way, all having their quirks. If this was Earth I'd be in every book store we've come across doing the most intensive browsing known to anywhere. But there's a decent change that a lot of these books would be in some other non-Earth language that I don't speak."

Rinaa's shipment container

If Fia gave it real thought, she'd have figured out that Jay was paraphrasing what her mother always used to say, about friends can become family and a stronger family than actual blood relatives. Yet Rinaa replied to her question before she could let herself think too much on what, or more to the point, how, Jay said such a thing. Which was probably a good thing because she only would have gone for her if she realised it, that Jay could hate her mother so much but still echo her beliefs in some form. "Sure, fine by me. You better do it though because I'm not breaking my promise to dad about using magic to get back" she replied.

Attil

Kay agreed that they all had their quirks that made them all interesting to want to explore. "Mmm, likewise." she replied as she glanced around trying to pick a shop that they could possibly go in and not find too many problems with language. She then found herself doing a double take as she caught from the corner of her an independent small art shop. "Let's go to this one" she said, gently pulling him over. She felt bad for constantly using up all of Cal and Cliff's stationary and paper and wondered if she could get a small sketchbook for herself.

Rinaa's shipping container
Rinaa nodded. "Already on it" she pulled up her sleeve and began to type in the activation code, coordinates and time stamp. "I'm making a time hole which should appear outside the forge. I won't go through myself as I don't feel like having to throw up my guys four times in one day, when I can only do it two times. Enter through the forge door and not the house door. If they ask what I'm doing, tell them I'm sorting out my will and that I gave no more information than that." Rinaa knew that the family wouldn't inquire too much on that motive. The hole appeared in front of them, a swirling vortex of space-time. It made no sound but it was in constant motion. The other side of the hole materialised outside the forge.

Attil
John saw where Kay was gesturing and knew exactly what she was thinking. There had also been talking of using drawing/art as a method of not going crazy when under house arrest. "Okay then, lead the way." John followed Kay into the shop. It was one of those places that was arranged in no particular rhyme or rhythmn. It was a small premesis and as a result there was shelving and storage everywhere in order to fit everything in. It also had a unique smell of paint, paper and for some reason burnt wood.

Rinaa's shipment container

Fia nodded and quickly went to grab her phone that was in charge still before re appearing as the vortex opened up and Rinaa gave her a cover story to tell the others, as well as where to enter the forge from. "Got it. And Rii? Good luck, I believe in you" she said smiling, ignoring the fact that Jay was still there. "See you back at the forge or apartment" she said one last time and walked through the vortex, arriving at the forge. As before she got a slight headache from the time jump, but it was nothing she couldn't shake off. Glancing around she found the right entrance to go through and walked in. "Hey" she greeted everyone, brushing her hair forward to hide the remaining ashy burn mark on her neck.

Attil

Kay nodded and went inside the store and all the smells of various art supplies and mediums just brought back all the memories of when she'd go supply shopping back on Earth. It surprisingly didn't look all that different to the shops she was used to going in. The smell of burned wood made her think of a particular art form of engraving into wood and wondered if that was what the smell was. Walking around and seeing all the supplies, it would have been evident to John just how at home she was in such a store. There was always just something that radiated from Kay whenever she was surrounded by art. If she touched anything, it was held with such high respect.

Rinaa's shipping container/The Forge
The portal snapped shut after Fia passed through. Jay gave Rinaa look, the teenager had paled considerably, she was terrified about what she was doing next. Jay wrapped an arm around her as she dialled the number. "Chas? If I'm not on speaker, put me on. John, you're going to want to hear this."

Jay had felt the disturbance in time just as the rift opened and couldn't help but think 'that was extremely quick'. Looking out she only saw Fia arrive and knew that Rinaa was still attending to business. Outside of the forge were a variety of piles. One was for new materials and equipment, one for old things that had to go/couldn't be used to scrap and the other was scrap material. Inside sparks were flying as Cal pounded the metal into shape, before using her own pyrokinisis to melt the metal and bend it into shape, she was making a shoulder guard from an almost iradescent silver metal. Chas, Jay and Cliff were following Dan's instructions ferrying things back and forth. In the process they were kicking up loads of ash and dust, getting themselves coated in the stuff, as did Fia upon entry. "Back already? That was quick." "That's because only fifty percent of the teenagers are back. I'm guessing Rinaa's still taking care of stuff?"

John could indeed see just how at home Kay felt in this place. John didn't usually frequent art stores, that was Elliott's thing more than his. But he couldn't help but think of how Rinaa had stolen the sketchbook from Elliott, who'd then told her to keep it. It might be worth looking for a replacement. "Actually, mind keeping a look out for one of them mini pocket sketchbook things? Like the one Rinaa lifted from Ellie? Probably a good idea to get him a replacement." He called out from his side of the shop.

The Forge

Fia took note of what everyone was doing, before turning her attention to Chas, Jay and Cliff as they remarked their notice if her return. "Quick to you, slow for us. But yeah, said something about needing to deal with her will and that was it." She replied, keeping her promise to not disclose everything else, but she did find it difficult to look at Jay in the eye properly. "So err...can I help with anything?" She asked, rubbing her neck but pretending it was nothing. The amount of ash and dirt being kicked up didn't phase her as much as it probably should but she put that down to her bloodline.

Kay looked around at the various pencils and marker selection the store had before looking at the paints that were next to them. She looked up as John spoke and nodded,"sure, I was going to take a look at the sketchbooks next anyway" she replied to him, before turning her attention back to the paints and brushes seeing the great variety they had for such a small store. She found bits she really wanted being inspired instantly. She then walked to the sketchbooks, seeing the different sizes and types. She could see understand why John would ask her to find one as it wasn't so simple as picking a book and going with it. There were types for watercolour work, normal sketching and so much more. She then came across the type that Elliott gave Rinaa, picking one up. "Here, this will be the type he'd want" she told him, before finding one just a size bigger at the standard A4 size and flicked through it checking out the paper quality.
