Ethraeil hoped that Rosanna was following behind, the ice should've provided enough space for them to retreat and return back to the group. Unbeknownst to him, things would be going terribly wrong for the dullahan as he ran through the woods of the delta. It took a few minutes before he caught up with the rest of the Inquiry, but he noticed that they were in immediate danger from whatever was lurking in the water. He felt the presence of whatever lurked beneath the surface. "Rosanna is not far behind me! Focus on the waters!" Ethraeil yelled out as he arrived next to the carriage and began to freeze the nearby waters with all his effort, hoping to block whatever was trying to come up.

Wesley walked over to Rosanna and started chaining her up, She now had a clear view of his face. and his glowing red eyes as a result of his vampirism. before Rosanna can ask what was going on. Wesley leaned his head forwards near one of her ears and whispered that only Rosanna can hear him.

"I'll answer your questions later... for now. Just keep calm and don't panic.."

he puts the lock on the chain and closes it. he then puts the key of the lock into one of his pockets. he then returned to Cassandra.

"Cassandra, Its done. The locks are secured." he said deadpanned.

"Why is it always that these things come in groups." Theodore said with an annoyed tone to his voice while looking towards the waters. He took his revolver out of it's holster and made sure it was primed and ready. Bombs would come later.

Camille road her horse down to the river delta with the rest of the group, checking behind her back now and then to make sure they weren't followed. Rosanna and Ethraeil seemed successful in stalling that creature, yet she was not one to take any chances. Just then the situation potentially became more dire as there were groaning and gurgling noises taking place beneath them, her horse having to be reigned in so that it would not run off in fear. More undead? If this was the intent of a necromancer, this was clearly meant to stall them so that dulluhan could catch up to them.

Gritting her teeth, the huntress drew her rapier and retrieved her hatchet, ready to fight zombies or skeletons if they were to emerge from the murky depths. "Just one zombie is no threat at all, Monsieur Boivin..." she mutters, squinting at the water and ready to strike.

Rosanna looked upon Wesley in utter shock. She turned him? And he's HELPING her? Rosanna's expression turned to one of anger. "You're a fuckin' traitor. That's all I needed ta know." she spat. As soon as the chains and lock were secured, Tristyn stepped over and jerked his sword out of her back. He then grabbed her and pulled her up so that she could face Cassandra and the others. "He simply chose the better side!" said Cassandra, grinning.

"The better side? You had Wallace helpin' ya, and he died like a bitch." fired back Rosanna. Cassandra raised an eyebrow. "Wallace is dead?" she muttered, before grinning wildly and laughing. "I always knew his massive ego would lead to his death! Wonderful! One less fucking idiot to have to work with!" she replied, looking back to the others. "Major Archer will take his place. Wallace's second-in-command was always the better of the pair. I'm surprised he never killed Wallace himself and took his place over the armed forces here on Grimtham."

Rosanna grumbled. So Wallace has a second-in-command to take his place. We'll just have to kill him too. "When I get outta these chains, I'm gonna finish what I started back at the mansion." she growled. Cassandra's grin faded to a smile. "No. You won't. Because you'll be just like him." she said, before pointing to Tristyn. Tristyn gurgled. Rosanna's eyes widened. They're going to corrupt me.

Cassandra finally motioned to Rosanna's horse nearby. "Put her on the horse and keep an eye on her. We're leaving for Peltragow. If the others show up later, we'll let Rose here and Tristyn handle them." Tristyn then jerked Rosanna over towards the horse, before lifting her up and setting her on it. His own horse approached, and mounted it as well. Soon enough, they were all mounted and riding away from Oar's Rest. Off into the evening fog.

-----------------------------------------------------
As the group prepared to face the incoming creatures, some began to rise out of the water near them. Zombified civilians. Men, women, and children. No rotting flesh, though. They were killed by dark magic, then resurrected with necromancy. The Devonshire Twins prefer fresh bodies to rotted corpses and skeletons. Valeria grunted. "We need to keep moving. We can fight through these creatures while we move." she said, shoving one of the incoming zombies away from the horse with her boot.

Nearby, the larger aura continued to approach from the river. It was far larger than any of the zombies, but not as powerful as the aura of a supernatural being. And then, it started to emerge through the fog. A large abomination of a creature lurched through the waters towards the bank. Valeria's eyes went wide when she saw. "Good gods..." she said aloud.

As the zombies began rising from the water, Sergey backed off along with the others. They were men, women and children. He didn't want to have to shoot them but they didn't have much choice did they. He pushed off any that got too close before the feeling of dread completely eveloped him. Something else came up from the water. To call it an abomination would be an insult to abominations everywhere. Looking at it almost made him freeze in place, but he snapped out of it quickly. Just another target to kill. He aimed his revolvers at it's "mouth" and fired.

Aleister was sitting on the back of the carriage top, hesitantly looking at his ammunition. He had restocked much earlier - thank the gods - with Rosanna and he had plenty of silver again, but faced with zombies that could go down with lead and some... disgusting slab of walking flesh that may need silver to take down.... He loaded up typical lead bullets into his revolver. The gun could dispatch the small zombies easily enough as it had in the city. He would need magic for the monstrosity that was approaching them.

Feeling like some backwoods hick fishing with a gun, Aleister aimed towards the water at some of the emerging civilian zombies. He fired at them to try and kill a few, and then he turned towards the approaching abomination.

The fingers of his left hand began to curl as light swirled around it. A fireball, but a smaller one. Once it was ready he would launch it at the big monster.

"It's not the zombies that I'm worried about." Theodore said to Camille. Then as if fate decided to draw the curtain for a grand reveal, the abomination emerged from the water. "That thing worries me."

As the others began to instinctively shoot towards the beast, so did he.

The Escarian huntress was quick to dispatch the zombies that started to rise out from the water and lurch forward, though she could only attack with her hatchet as the fresh corpses meant stabbing them through the head with her rapier would be rather difficult. She took unforgiving swings with her hatchet, using both the blunt and bladed ends to do sufficient amounts of damage to the creatures. All while listening to Theodore, no less!

"The dullahan is rather worrying as well, yes." she replied, only to turn her head to hear and witness the groaning flesh mass lurching toward them. "Merde. One thing after another." Camille spits, flicking the reins of her horse to turn it toward the creature before whipping them more forcefully. As the monstrous foe would be peppered with bullets and magic, she raised her hatchet and charged toward the abomination. The huntress was hoping to dig the blade into its sides, using the momentum of her horse to gouge it deeply before peeling off with superior speed.

Her arm still throbbing, Mariette looked at the undead surrounding the Inquisitors and took on an expression similar to when she had threatened Aleister before reaching Porthcrawl, but there was something else to it. It hadn't been long since she had tried to offer Jakob some reassurance, but when she had spoken of her hunch that the people of Oar's Rest weren't truly dead, she hadn't been making a dark joke, she was actually daring to be optimistic in the face of a steadily worsening situation. If the Inquisitors were needed anywhere in the world, it was here and now, and yet Valeria and this hodgepodge team were currently the only thing in the way of Duke Ashwood and his assorted minions.

And they pretend they can't tell the difference between me and them. She imagined Camille's scorn and contempt, Erwin's knife cutting through her hair, Aleister abandoning her in death, and Theodore proposing they reanimate her head. That, more than anything, spurred her into a frenzy. Seeing the shambling corpses in Porthcrawl was enough; the Sword of Velin was Ashwood's target and he clearly would have gone to any length to see it disposed of without witnesses. But to wipe Oar's Rest off the map was pointless, and the depravity of using the dead against the Inquisition when the enemy had access to far more useful pawns to work with was simply disgusting beyond words. And Theodore felt I deserved the same fate.

At that moment, Mariette felt as if she and the few sane allies she had made were alone in a world positively drowning in evil, so irreparably tainted that she could hardly contain it. She launched herself into action wordlessly, bare handed, to bring rest to those poor creatures the enemy had raised. When this is over, it's time to part ways.

Ethraeil opted to focus on crowd control, lest they risk being overrun by swarms of the undead and that abomination that had appeared before them. The others could focus on dealing damage on the monster as Ethraeil fully dug his hand into the waters. With all his concentration and focus he froze the water as quickly as he could, hoping to freeze the abomination and the undead nearby in their tracks to make them easy pickings for the Inquiry.

The group opened fire upon the large Abomination of a creature, intending to put it down as quickly as possible before dealing with the zombies that were closing in around them. The only one that didn't intend to attack the creature was Ethraeil, whom attempted to freeze the waters so that the creature and zombies would be trapped in the ice. The attempt failed, however, as the ice was too thin to stop the creatures. The abomination simply powered through it, cracking and shattering the ice into shards and smaller pieces as it walked towards the group from the river. Aleister's fireball forced it to pause for a moment, the flesh on its 'face' roasted and charred.

The gunfire ripped through the abomination, bullets either becoming lodged inside the creature or ripping through its flesh and out the back as pieces of the creature seemed to land in the water behind it. Camille's attack did some damage to the creature, but she wasn't fast enough to avoid the massive fleshy hand that slapped her and sent her sailing into the river near two zombies. As she climbed to her feet, she was attacked by the pair, clawed and scratched as she attempted to get away. Mariette's attack also landed on the creature, making it stumble a little from the dropkick impact to its stomach. She was also attacked by a pair of zombies as she landed, one scratching her while the other missed. A third attempted to attack as well, but found itself tripping and splashing into the water.

After firing upon the larger creature, the rest of the group was also attacked by zombies. The undead clawed at Valeria, Sergey, and Theodore, while two attempted to climb onto the carriage to attack Aleister and Jakob. The one attacking Jakob missed, while the other scratched Aleister's leg.

Sergey was proud of himself as bullets shredded the monster, some of them being his and some from the others. Within seconds, the monster took a hell of a beating, and it looked like it was about to fall over dead. Before Sergey could reload, he heard something step towards him from his left, and only turned in time to see a zombie corpse of an older man lunge at him. Sergey couldn't react in time, and the man's hands managed to claw his left arm and side pretty good, before he could step away.

As Sergey retreated towards the wagon cart, he quickly reloaded one of the revolvers, putting the other back in its holster. No time to reload both. The monster in the water was still alive, and it was attacking his friends. He aimed at its mouth again and kept firing.

Instead of focusing on the abomination Galina raised her rifle and attacked several nearby zombies. Hopefully the party could get some breathing room or space to maneuver.

Wesley looked over to Rosanna and saw her struggle in the chains and squirm. but to no effect. he then turn towards Cassandra who was in front of him steering the horse.

"Cassandra, what are you going to do to Rosanna?"

Camille's plan had managed to work, for the most part, yet once again her attacks on the monstrous beast left her in swatting range and unable to properly maneuver out of the way. Sent flying she grit her teeth and braced for impact as her horse was knocked away as well, the poor creature scrambling to get up before it sprinting out of combat. It would likely stay off to the side, as it was trained rather well for these sorts of things. While the huntress herself didn't exactly land on her feet she rolled and tumbled in the water, jumping up to her feet only to be clawed at by two nearby zombies. Grunting in pain, she kicks and pushes them off of her, sprinting back up to the abomination before skidding herself to a halt just before him.

This time she didn't have her momentum to assist her, so she stood just out of the creature's reach and intently focused on its movements. Camille leveled her rapier and bent her arm back, eyes narrowing as she prepared to stab into the abomination at the soonest opportunity.

With his plan failing, Ethraeil realized that he needed to attack the abomination as it already had taken a good swing at Camille. A monster like this was sure to do more damage to the others if it stayed up. As such, Ethraeil clasped his hands together and moved them apart as ice formed in between to form a massive spear once his hands were fully splayed out. With the massive conjured weapon ready, he grabbed it, aimed at the abomination, and launched the ice spear at it.

Theodore managed to move away from the zombies swiping at him. The scholar cursed under his breath as he counted them. Too many to ignore. The others were beginning to strike at the abomination and others at the zombies. Time to lower the numbers. He lid the fuse to one of the bombs and tossed it in the middle of the group of zombies.

The more she struck at the enemy, the more infuriated the Countess became. She hadn't felt this way in Porthcrawl; maybe it was because, despite the abject horror of that destroyed city, Mariette felt as if she would only ever see such a wicked sight once in her lifetime, and once it had been conquered, she could move on. But now it was clear that the evil was going to spread, it was aimless and wasteful, and worst of all, the Inquisitors lacked the means to stop it. It felt simultaneously obligatory to fight the undead horror, as well as hopelessly futile. Her frustration boiled up into an indignant battle cry as she recklessly attacked any of the undead creatures she neared.

With the others concentrated on the monster, Jakob aimed his weapon towards the small horde surrounding them. Aiming at the zombie that struck Aleister, and firing his shotgun.

Aleister gave the zombie that clawed at his leg a firm kick to the head, scrambling further up onto the carriage as Jakob fired at the creature. Damnable creature tearing my stocking, he thought angrily, glancing at the tear around his ankle only for a moment. Now he had another item of clothing he needed to buy again.

Aggravated to the extreme, Aleister stood up on top of the carriage roof and glanced down at Jakob. "Cover me if you can, I'm going to try and channel a stronger attack!"

The vampire leveled his left hand at the large abomination, two fingers pressed together and pointed at the creature like an imaginary gun with his arm outstretched. He raised his right arm high up into the air, his elbow only barely crooked. It looked like he was taking a fighting stance from some exotic, distant land.

Holy lightning... good gracious what am I doing.... Aleister focuses in on pulling in a bolt of lightning through his body with the divine magics, needing time to concentrate to build it up and fire it.

As the group was attacked by the zombies that swarmed them, the Abomination seemed to be healing somehow. Some of its wounds were beginning to seal and close with scar-like tissue. Apparently whomever had created this creature gave it the ability to regenerate. It wouldn't save it, however. Sergey and Camille attacked the creature once again, with Sergey firing with his revolvers once more while Camille opted to stab the creature through the gut with her rapier. Ethraeil would make the killing blow, however, as he hurled an ice spear into the thing's mouth. It ripped through the flesh at the back of its throat, piercing all the way through and jutting out the back of its 'head'. It made a high pitched squeal, before falling backwards into the water. Dead.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group focused on the zombies around them. Galina opened fire on the zombies nearest her, blowing one's arm off at the shoulder, before being attacked by another who missed. Jakob fired his shotgun at the zombie that had attacked Aleister, punching a hole through its chest but failing to kill it. A moment later, he was attacked by the same zombie he chose to ignore, whom scratched him this time. Aleister himself, meanwhile, moved out of the way and got into some sort of martial art-like pose. As he stood there, he seemed to point his fingers at the zombie that Jakob had just fired upon. His other hand began to crackle and spark, as electricity began to zip between the fingertips. Once he had amassed enough electricity, he made rather fluid movements, channeling the electricity through his body before allowing it to erupt from his other hand in the form of a lightning bolt. There was a crack of what seemed like thunder, as the bolt struck the zombie and sent him sailing off the side of the carriage into the mud at the bank. The man had been charred black, his shirt catching fire as residual electricity zipped about his form.

Theodore would not be outdone, as he primed a bomb and tossed it into the water near some of the zombies. A moment later, it detonated in spectacular fashion, blowing three of the zombies to pieces. Afterwards, he'd be attacked by the zombie he simply shoved away before. Thankfully, this time he failed to do any damage, as he was simply shoved away once again. Sergey was also attacked again, the same zombie ripping through his pants leg and scratching his thigh.

Mariette had had enough of things, becoming enraged and attacking the zombie nearest her. As it moved in to attack itself, she simply grabbed it by both arms and gave them a sharp jerk. The female zombie was now armless. Mariette tossed the arms down, before grabbing it next by the sides of the head. And in one quick twist, she snapped the zombie's head completely around and off. Its body moved forwards two steps, before collapsing dead. She simply punted the head away, sending it sailing off into the river. Meanwhile, Valeria drew out her double barrel and leveled it at the zombie whom had attacked her's head. There was a click, and then fire burst forth from both barrels. The zombie's head exploded, as did most of its upper torso as buckshot and silver shredded the poor teenager.

Valeria grunted, before looking back to the others. "Lets take out these last four and get the hell out of here. Quickly!" she sounded off, before taking aim at another zombie and firing off a shot from her revolver.

-----------------------------------------------------
Cassandra glanced back over her shoulder at Wesley. "Oh, just gonna have a little fun with her. Don't you worry your handsome little head!" she said, with a smile. She then looked over to the twins. "Our identical friends over there have a way with dark magic! Being witches and all. They're eager to try and twist the cowgirl's mind a little. You know...help her see things our way!"

Cassandra eventually looked back to Wesley. "Why do you ask, my love? Do you wanna get in on it too? Twist her little mind yourself?...Didn't think you had a thing for cowgirls." she said, grinning as she teased. "I might have to play dress-up sometime."

"Just a second." Theodore said as he lid another of his bombs. He made a mental note that he was beginning to run low. He would need to take inventory and restock as soon as possible.

The fuse hissed as it burned and the bomb was tossed into the last pack of zombies.

Camille flicked the gore off of her blade, looking up from the abomination's corpse before she turned on her heel to the last group of zombies. Before she could even move in to attack them with her hatchet, Theodore threw in one of his bombs, so she paused and tightened her grip on her hatchet. When the bomb went off and the smoke cleared, she readied herself to charge into any remaining undead that survived the blast.
