while we're here, ya'll got favorite gym leaders? i'm very attached to Burgh (BWB2W2) and Raihan (SWSH) but i wanna hear other people's opinions and favorites

I like so many ha ha

In Kanto I really like Misty, Erika and Sabrina.

In Hoenn I like Flannery, Winona, Tate and Liza and Wallace.

In Sinnoh I like Roark and Maylene.

Then I really like all the Galar gym leaders.

Inevitably I have a lot of fun at the gyms XD

All I can say is Gliscor is a blessing and I'm forever grateful for its existence. Of course, if he goes down.. Electric kinda scary.

Thank god we don't have an ice gym leader, at least. Two of my main team members aren't.. particularly fond of ice.
Two of my mons have Ice moves.

Fav Pokémon, top three Umbreon, Gallade, and Luxray are my choices.

Gym leaders though, hmm? I like Bea and Allister most for Galar. I like all of them really except Gordie. Outside of that, others haven’t really been to memorable to me but then again I haven’t played many Pokémon games.

at least greninja and clefable are competitively viable. cries in sylveon and eeveelutions in general

as for gym leaders, i mainly remember the ones from unova. tate and liza are pretty cool too.

lt. surge makes me wonder if kalos is known for surrendering in combat

Overall when considering all of the games, I love Gen 5 and have an incredibly large bias. Drayden, Cheren and Burgh were awesome. In regards to Gen 8 specifically, I actually ended up really liking Piers by the end of the game.

As for Pokemon, tbh a decision like this is too hard to make. I love too many Pokemon. Volcarona, Garchomp (Salamence and Dragonite are equal too tbh), Mawile are only a few. Favorites types would be a lot easier: Ground, Steel, Dragon, Flying.

i forgot to say that Helena's faceclaim is a favorite character of mine from Bungou Stray Dogs and i chuckle at the thought.

on an unrelated note, i don't think that Ambra made the ooc discord yet. i'm terminally online on discord anyways, so if anybody wants to send a friend request over there mine is @blitz#9108

“One of the most healing things you can do is recognize where in your life you are your own poison.”

NAME:
Achille Venin || "Brant"

AGE:
32

GENDER:
Male

BIRTHPLACE:
Celadon City, Kanto || Later moved to Galar on his journey of self improvement.

GYM TYPE:
Poison

APPEARANCE:
A tall man with a fair vanilla complexion and piercing red eyes. His long jet black hair is straight and stops just below his lower back. He's surprisingly muscular, keeping fit by following regimens he'd learned from his past along with training on the Isle of Armor.
Achille dressed semi-formally, mostly in black undershirts and dark violet suits or vests. He wears gloves for cleanliness purposes, as a courtesy to his customers and due to the fact he handles poison-types regularly.

PERSONALITY:
A reserved and personable man, Achille gives off the feeling of a refined gentleman but also a slightly intimidating aura with the way he dresses and carries himself. This is completely intentional, as he does his best to keep strangers at arm's length but wants to be approachable to gym challengers and regulars at the Nido's Burrow. He gives the impression that he's intelligent, mainly from his manner of explaining things and choosing to be an understanding party when it comes to issues that require multiple perspectives, along with the travel souvenirs and books he displays at the bar showing he is a well-traveled person. Achille feels as if he lacks the ability to judge most people, as his own moral compass isn't exactly straight in the first place, so he is the type you could vent your woes to or ask to play devil's advocate. He's not one to go out of his way to make friends with people of Pokemon, rather be the one to lie in wait and see if they'll approach him. This isn't to say he's unfriendly just...waiting and assessing who is attempting to enter his life. It's a habit he still hasn't shook from his Rocket days.

SHORT BIOGRAPHY:
Achille Venin hails from Celadon City, all the way in the Kanto region. His family lived in a small apartment within the city and while they weren't the wealthiest, they were happy. As a boy he'd keep himself occupied by roaming the streets of the city without much supervision, with nothing more than a wild-yet-friendly Nidoran♀ he'd come to call his own. He'd attempt to fit in with the other boys his age by causing mischief and trying to participate in friendly Pokemon battles with the amenable Nidoran♀ by his side. He was by no means a stellar foe, but he won his fair share of battles between his peers. He didn't have the means of training any other Pokemon other than the small Poison Pin Pokemon that accompanied him everywhere due to his family's less than fortunate financial position, he wasn't even able to properly call her his own until one of the boys he lingered around left behind an unused Pokeball. As he grew older his family's monetary inconveniences only served to further irritate Achille and influence his decisions.
In his late teens, Achille and his family hadn't been able to do much better for themselves. His father wasn't able to receive any sort of promotion at the Celadon Department Store and his mother was trying to scrape up more money by working in a flower shop run by Celadon's very own gym. Achille himself took to gambling, both in Pokemon battles and by sneaking into Celedon's Game Corner. He never won big, but at times he'd be able to bring home enough to contribute to the family's monthly funds. Other times his luck would be so bad that he'd resort to shoplifting, not taking into account how badly it may reflect on the staff of the Celadon Department Store and his face being recognized, just to get some things to eat for himself and his now Nidorina. This all culminated into his fateful encounter in Celedon's Game Corner one evening, changing Achille's life for years to come.
He'd just finished wasting the last of his coins and was ready to leave the Game Corner, when a man dressed in black bumped into him, with too much force to be an accident. Achille attempted to give the man a few choice words but found that someone had grabbed hold of him and covered his mouth. Not just that, but the man who ran into him must have taken Nidorina's Pokeball in passing, as it was no longer on his belt. What happened next was a blur, but key moments still show clearly in Achille's memory. He was dragged out back, told that those running the Game Corner knew he wasn't supposed to be there and that they'd be taking his Pokemon as a fee and that he wouldn't be allowed back in the Game Corner. Nidorina was released from her Pokeball and Achille tried to bargain for her return, saying without her he had no other way to help get money for his family. After some consideration the duo dressed in blacked offered him a choice, leave without his precious Pokemon or keep the Nidorina and join a group that went by the name of Team Rocket. He was told that the organization's line of work wasn't too different from the thievery and sneaking around he was already doing, so Achille would fit right in. Being given such limited options, Achille resigned himself to joining whatever gang these two appeared to be a part of to keep his Nidorina and potentially find some semblance of income.
Following that night Achille explained to his parents that he'd be off training with his Pokemon and wouldn't return for some time, so they wouldn't worry or try to find him. This wasn't a complete lie, as he had to undergo Rocket training with is Nidorina somewhere even he didn't know about. After packing his things and discreetly returning to the Game Corner, which was revealed to be one of Team Rocket's bases to Achille, he was promptly given his new grunt uniform and sent off to be trained with a handful of other new recruits. The young man had expected his time there to be awful but, as the two Rocket grunts who had confronted him predicted, he seemed to fit right in. He actually made friends, a majority in a position similar to his own. People down on their luck looking to make money and maybe find somewhere to belong. Maybe even find themselves being feared and respected along the way. In the end he passed training with flying colors with new allies by his side and he was given the codename "Brant" to keep his identity secret. Months turned to a year, and then another, and "Brant" was cementing his place as a member of Team Rocket. He had a Golbat he'd managed to steal from a trainer in battle that'd be the main competitor in less...let's just say Pokemon League approved battles back at base. The team's view on Pokemon had infected Achille and he began seeing Pokemon as nothing more than tools for battle or a profit to be made. The times he enjoyed among his peers in Team Rocket weren't meant to last, however, as it seemed someone was keen on meddling with them and with time the leader, Giovanni, disbanded the group.
Now with no place left to go and once again at a loss for what he should do, Achille wandered bitterly. He took his anger and sadness out on others through trainer battles, making enough to justify his journeying. With time Achille began to realize the toxic environment and mindset he'd been keeping himself in, along with his mistreatment of the Pokemon that stood by his side. They were poison types, but he'd been the one being toxic to them in the end. His travels took him to Galar, specifically the Isle of Armor due to hearing word of those training there would return stronger in both mind and body. During his training, his skills with poison types were recognized and his compassion towards Pokemon began to show again. Word was put in that he'd be a good candidate for Galar's League, and the rest is history.

The Galar League's Poison-type specialist, Achille Venin established himself not too long after traveling to train on the Isle of Armor. Currently, his gym is in the league's standard stadium style but when he first made his home on Galar's mainland he had to settle for running it in tandem with his bar, Nido's Burrow. With time, the league realized that a gym ran out of such a place, even if Achille took proper precautions and has strict challenge time rules, would potentially reflect badly on them. He's content with the separation of his two jobs, even if it make come as an inconvenience for regulars coming to the Burrow early or challengers looking for a late night challenge. Nido's Burrow is decorated with souvenirs from his travels, but mainly has Kanto memorabilia. A keen eye may be able to even notice some hints of Team Rocket memorabilia along the walls, as Achille still looks on his past fondly in some aspects.

RELATIONSHIPS:
[Relationships with other gym leaders; fill this out only when you're certain you're getting accepted.]

finally done OTL . . . i may have gone overboard on the history section so i did my best to keep it short at the end

i forgot to say that Helena's faceclaim is a favorite character of mine from Bungou Stray Dogs and i chuckle at the thought.

on an unrelated note, i don't think that Ambra made the ooc discord yet. i'm terminally online on discord anyways, so if anybody wants to send a friend request over there mine is @blitz#9108
Ahh I really should start reading on that >_>

I got started but I never touched volume 2

I am at work a little bored, so, I figured a few questions for our GYM OCs;

"What was the most embarrassing moment with a Pokemon of theirs?"

"For the main team - if they had to pick outside their speciality, what would they pick?"

Doesn't need to be concrete answers, just a little fun headcanons and delving a little deeper into our characters ;

Saphira's most embarrassing moment was when she thought a slip-in-slide sludge bomb was appropriate for a kids party (it was not),

Goodra is just too cute for words.

Believe it or not, Albert originally would have became a Fairy-type trainer, and his most embarrassing moment was getting scared by one of his own Ghost-mons. He works with them everyday and has had Ghost-mons following him around for practically his entire life, so its quite embarrassing when you nearly drop an important vial because you turn around to find a Ghost mon directly in your face grinning at you. That, and a lot of the Ghosts that follow him around like to naturally embarrass him, though he's grown used to it.

Haha, Albert is indeed precious, will be nice for that to be touched upon if Saphira ever learns if he wanted to be the fairy trainer. (if both make into the RP)

Embarrassing moment? Imma think up one for all now but the first idea in my head, when Yakuma evolved from a Pancham to Pangoro he had been running to give Mari and Lili a big hug after a battle and evolved mid air.

Btw, Yakuma was one of Lili’s that Mari took in. Along with Anubis and Squirt. More Poke’s to be added later.

As for type out of main? Ground as she has no Electric coverage.

The thing is that Albert's first Pokemon was actually a Fairy-type, so if they stuck around, he would have continued down that path instead of the sorrowful road that fate has been leading him down for years. He eventually just accepted things for what they were, embracing his misfortunate life since he couldn't find a way to break out of the cycle. As they always say, if you can't beat them, join them.

What was his first Fairy Type Pokemon?

RIP Mari. Final moments as a pancake.

For the first question, Ripley's most embarrassing moment was going to Alola and promptly getting bombarded by bug-types on accident one day while on a walk, all because she wore a so-called perfume that was, in reality, a bug-type attractant.
Another embarrassing moment was getting asked the all-important question by a curious kid, "What's your favorite Pokemon?" Ripley promptly took out Nightshade and with enthusiasm yelled out "Scolipede!". They raised their voice on accident, and combined with their sudden enthusiasm and how big and scary Nightshade looked, the whole scene brought the poor kid to tears. Ripley profusely apologized to both the kid and his parents right afterwards for the commotion.

If Ripley picked a type outside of their specialty, it would be Fairy type. They were a surprisingly strong type despite their apperance, and it reminds her of themselves, now that they reflect more on their past.

I finally finished Albert's personality, holy, that took forever. I'm terrified of writing his biography now lmao. Hopefully having his personality finished helps give you guys a bit more insight about his character.
