It was like a never ending nightmare of insanity.

Steve stared at the slime covered shedding of god knows what on his bat, shaking his head in disbelief. What the hell was happening? Sure, he should be totally cool with all of this happening as of late but honestly it was a bit much. Dustin stared at the bat, his eyes wide. "Oh shit." Dustin spoke, turning his head to stare at the now broken concrete bricks of his cellar. "Oh shit." Steve eyed the young boy, his lips coming together in a straight line as the two took a few steps closer, staring up the hole that Dart had made. This was not good, not good at all.

It wasn't long after when the two had gathered supplies in the back of Steve's car. They had managed to buy out all of the market's chicken scraps. Did Dart like chicken scraps? Who knows. Steve groaned slightly as he popped the trunk of his car, fishing out what they had packed. Steve kneeled down, organizing the backpack as Dustin spoke over the walkie talkie to Lucas. These kids were going to be the death of him. Steve shoved his nail covered bat into the backpack, slinging it over his shoulder before shutting the trunk. Lucas seemed to be shocked that Steve was even helping. "
Alright, let's go." Steve said briefly grabbing one of the buckets of chicken leaving the other one for Dustin. They had to find this lizard thing before things got out of hand. He turned, not waiting for Dustin as he headed for the woods.

Never.

Never in a million god damn years did Steve think that'd he'd be walking down a railroad track tossing bits of chicken meat out of pails with toothless looking for a giant lizard. I swear to god if this is a prank. Steve sighed, tossing a few bits of meat onto the track. It smelled awful. The older male followed in tow, watching Dustin walk along the tracks in front of him. For a kid, Dustin was actually pretty cool. He just needed some guidance. "Not everyone can have your perfect hair." Steve rolled his eyes, staring down at the tracks as he tossed a few more pieces of meat. "It's not about the hair man. The key with girls is just acting like you don't care." "Even if you do?" Dustin questioned, looking up at Steve for a moment. The dark haired guy shrugged slightly, tilting his head to the side. "Yeah exactly, it drives them nuts." Steve stated, grabbing a few more pieces of meat. "Then what?" "You just wait, till uh-" Steve continued, tossing a piece of the meat behind him. "Till you feel it." He nudged Dustin's shoulder with the back of his gloved hand. The two walked side by side down the tracks, it was actually kind of nice to be able to just talk about something so simple...like girls. This town seemed to be going crazy lately, so having a normal conversation for once was nice. Steve opened his mouth before quickly shutting it, turning to his right as the sudden movement of leaves got his attention. "What?" Steve put his hand up, placing the bucket of meat slowly on the ground before grabbing the bat in his backpack.

"
Hey listen, we're armed and we're not afraid to kick your ass."

Steve shouted calmly, gripping the bat tightly in the large yellow gloves. He looked absolutely ridiculous right now.

Chris really thought that by moving to a new town, she could start fresh. For a while it seemed like that, even if there was something unsettlingly familiar about Hawkins. She was worried about it at first, but after settling in a little and starting school for the first time in her life, Chris had learned to forget those things. Instead, as of late, the only things she worried about was homework and class projects as well as discovering feelings she had never really felt before, mainly because she hadn't been exposed to the real world till she escaped the labs she had been kept in since birth.

Everything about Brenner and the labs and even her powers had been pushed to the back of her mind. She hadn't used her powers in a while, and especially not in a large scale. She couldn't risk it when she was hiding it from pretty much everyone she knew, but just the other day, she'd felt something... odd. Like a tingling sensation. Like something cold was crawling along her skin. It didn't feel good at all, and though Chris tried to ignore it at first, this became impossible when she'd been walking home after class that day, only to hear a screeching sound that didn't exactly seem very human like.

The same cold feeling hit her again, and she felt compelled to follow, even though she knew nothing good could come of it. She'd abandoned her backpack into the hollow base of a tree before heading on her way. She didn't even know if she was going in the right direction, because the screeching had stopped, but she was coming close to something. She could hear the rustling of leaves. She could hear voices. After a while though, she realised that those voices sounded familiar.

She was ready to use her powers, if need be, but that would also mean exposing what she was capable of so she tried to be more careful. But then the voices got closer, and this time one of them addressed her. And Chris knew she'd recognise that voice anywhere.

She pushed through the branches she'd been covered behind and swatted away leaves before she came into full view. Chris had a confused expression on her face because the scene before her was... crazy, to say the least. "What are you doing here?" Was her first question, aimed at Steve. Then she saw Dustin, and behind them a trail of ... meat?

Her gaze rose to land on the spiked bat between Steve's hands. "What the hell is that for?" She asked further. This couldn't be some normal kind of hunting, not with that kind of equipment, and Steve sure as hell wouldn't be doing that with a kid like Dustin, which made her wonder if they were in the woods for the same reason as her.

Here we go.
This could go one of two ways.
Way A.) Dustin's stupid lizard jumps out and killed them. W
Way B.) It's just a raccoon or something.

Steve was wrong, on both ways. Chris emerged from the rustling leaves, making Steve clear his throat and stand up straight. He let the bat fall slightly, pressing the top of it into the track as he leaned casually onto it. "Hey Chris, what's up?" He nodded cooly, a smile playing on his lips as he tried his hardest to be charming. This was all just great, of course she was going to show up while he looked like a complete moron trying to find a lizard thing. "We're trying to find Dart." Dustin said nonchalantly, a grin coming to his lips as he looked over at Steve questioningly. "What is wrong with you?" Steve eyed Dustin for a moment, giving him a glare before standing up straight his attention going back to Chris. "Some giant lizard that Dustin has been hiding ate his mom's cat and then broke out of his cellar." Steve said, putting the bucket of meat down onto the tracks before pulling the large rubber gloves off of his hands.

In one swift motion he ran his fingers through his untamed hair. Yeah, just play it off. "
You could come help us find it." Steve said cooly, pressing his Ray Ban's onto the bridge of his nose. "Ah, now I get it. Farrah Fawcett." In one swift motion, Steve grabbed Dustin by the back of his hoodie. They literally just had the conversation about not giving the secret of farrah out. God damnit. "I swear to god dipshit." Steve hissed quietly, releasing Dustin's hoodie before grabbing the bat up off the ground. "Ha! I mean, Dart really looked up to Farrah Fawcett." Dustin showed his pearly whites, making the low growl in the back of his throat. "Just...no." Steve sighed, turning back to Chris. "Why are you out in the woods by yourself?"

Chris tilted her head to the side when Steve tried to play it cool, like nothing was wrong. Did he not realise he was holding a spiked bat, whilst wearing yellow rubber gloves? Something definitely wasn't right, so she naturally assumed he was trying to hide it from her. Which made her more concerned because it more or less confirmed that they were following the source of the screeching sound she'd heard not too long ago.

Looking to Dustin as he spoke, Chris arched an eyebrow. "Dart?" She had no idea who or what that was, and then Steve clarified. A giant lizard thing. Okay, that made sense. Of course that made sense. Why wouldn't it? It was totally normal.

Chris watched the brief exchange between Dustin and Steve before finally opening her mouth to speak. "I..." What should she say? That she was following the same thing, probably? What if this whole thing got messy and she used her powers in front of them? How was she going to explain that?

"I saw some giant lizard thing on my way home so... I decided to investigate," she told them, figuring there was no need to lie. Well, she hadn't actually seen it, but now she was convinced that what she'd heard and what they'd seen were related. It couldn't just be a coincidence that their paths crossed, so she was going to take Steve up on his offer and help them find it.

"This lizard thing... care to give me some more context?" She asked, wondering what else they knew about it -- or what else they were refraining from telling her because even if they'd just stumbled upon this like she had, there was no way that Steve and Dustin of all people would be hunting this thing down together without help from anyone else. Unless it was something that only the two of them knew about which just made her even more confused, really.
