So far, it seemed that Camp Ember was a rather pleasant experience. He hadn’t really expected any significant socializing, but now that he found himself in a small group, it was strangely pleasant. Even the writer in him was satisfied with their current conversation. There was no telling how what he had just learned would come in handy, but it couldn’t hurt to keep them in mind for a story idea. After all, it wasn’t everyday that you learned that someone became a half-zombie by receiving an antidote and that selkies were more than what the romantic tragedies depict them as.

Largo’s train of thought was suddenly brought to the one supernatural creature that he was well-acquainted with. For some reason, he felt that he was forgetting something extremely important. The thought was quickly brushed off, however, when the raven-haired boy finally took notice of the fact that the selkie girl, Ishli, had departed for her cabin. Taking this as a cue to do the same, Largo hoisted his bag into a better position in his arms and stalked off to his own cabin.

Soon after leaving his bag on the bottom bunk that was not obviously occupied by another fellow camper’s luggage, Largo made his way back to the promised meeting spot. It wasn’t very difficult being that Blade was rather tall, although admittedly not overly so. Succumbing to his habit of staring once again, the boy’s gaze practically burned into the half-zombie’s skull as he accidentally let slip a low whisper carrying the word “tall?”. It was a fact that he had noticed only just now, but it appeared that a majority of the campers were rather tall, perhaps due to their non-human heritage. Or was it just that he was short? Well, he was the indeed the shortest in the Italian side of his family?

The undead smiled at his soon-to-be sparring partner from under his cloak and set to walking down the path towards firefly lake, just behind Illusa. The undead pyromancer made sure to give the elf a slow, appreciative up-down look after she had changed into such form fitting clothes. Truly, a feast for the eyes.

Titulus hadn't seen the "Human Flame" he had created just yet and Soma was too scared to try out such an all consuming flame on anyone or anything. Titulus would serve as a good experiment and surely Soma was going to be the guinea pig in Titulus's new techniques as well.

Soma spent the trip up the path rather quietly and only spoke when they finally reached the spot and Illusa began to create the arena. He chuckled as the elf crafted the Ice arena so flawlessly and quickly. She had gotten much better over the years. An impressive sight to see.

The flame wielder nodded his head in thanks to Xyllia after she created a seperate world space, just in case the battle got out of hand. Soma reached into his cloak and suddenly some rather loud, high-pitched squeaks could be heard. The pyromancer pulled out a small, red drakeling that was cranky and clearly not appreciated being pulled out of its little den.

Soma walked to the dragon hybrid and placed the baby dragon in the palm of her hands. "Take care of the little girl while I have my match. She's a bit adventurous so keep an eye on her."

Several angry little squeaks followed until Soma stroked the baby's head a few times with his fingertip. It seemed to quell the fiery drake as she settled down as a result.

As the sun was no longer a problem, Soma took the time to remove his cloak entirely. His ashen skin covered with telltale scars both new and old. The undead pulled his charcoal grey hair back and out of his face for a moment. The pyromancer cracked a few joints and began to bounce around in place, trying to warm up his dead body, not that it actually did anything.

He wore his dark, faded grey trousers and black tunic/shirt with pride but he had switched out his old clothing for the modern equivalent. Dark grey combat pants (kinda like cargos but with knee pads built in. Think army), a raven black shirt that had seen better days (it was rather ripped up and damaged) and black combat boots.

The black attire truly complimented the ashen tone of his skin and the permanent shadow of his eyes accented the black scelera and truly brought out the flaming orange-red of his eyes, which seemed to burn like small fireballs in his sockets. They glowed bright with his excitement and anticipation.

Soma cracked his knuckles and simultaneously set his entire body ablaze as he stepped out on to the icy arena. He turned once he reached the center took a fighting stance. Left foot forward, sideways body posture, and his hands in front of his body in a classic orthodox kickboxer's stance. The walking funeral pyre smiled as brightly as his flame burned, "Shall we? My old friend."

Titulus couldn't help but blush a bit when he saw what Illusa was wearing. It was so tight on her body that it was like she was wearing nothing at all. He wasn't used to seeing her wearing such attire and was forced to turn his head away from her during the walk to the lake. However when he felt the ice under his feet Titulus allowed his eyes to wander to take in the truly impressive arena that she had created for them, and then when the demoness pulled them into what she called a pocket dimension he couldn't help but smile. In here there would be no need to hold back.

"Truly a colosseum fit for such a battle. Thank you Illusa." Titulus said as he looked at her, trying to focus more on her face than her body. Which was harder to do than the Roman cared to admit.

Once Soma had gotten prepared for combat Titulus answered in kind and for once removed his own shirt revealing the massive amount of scars and brands on his own body. The sight was nothing new to Soma however Titulus wondered what Illusa and the others would think. He had been extremely careful not to show off his body to Illusa during their travels.

Typically when Titulus fought he did so in a classic 'Roman' Style. With a sword and a shield. This served to give him ample defense from attack while also giving him a blunt object he could use to knock his opponent off balance and go for the kill. This time however Titulus pulled out two large knives he had attached to the small of his back.

Taking a rather unorthodox stance by holding the knife in his left hand  inward, instead of holding them like one would usually hold a blade toward the enemy to effectively slash and stab, and the knife in his right hand he held normally.

Titulus observed his old friend carefully. Power over time or not Titulus was going to have a hard time dealing with the flames radiating off Soma's body. He could need to do this elusively, using the fleeting seconds to deal a little damage at a time, and wait for the damage to stack up.

"et ut amici. Denique si me non occidat te" (We shall old friend. Don't hate me if I end up killing you.)

In the fleeting seconds before the match began Titulus decided to disconnect his mind from the Present ever so slightly. To him the phantoms of the battle were already beginning. This was the first of his new tricks. It was only a few seconds worth,  but in battle a few seconds can be the difference between life and death.

Ash trailed after the others quietly, peering around. She watched in barely concealed awe as her new elven friend created the arena. She was about to comment on the amazing feat, when a small creature was placed in her hands. She blinked at Soma, and nodded her head as she carefully moved the little dragon into a more comfortable position in her arms, holding it close. Her eyes watched the baby, smiling a little. It was adorable. She lifted her head to look toward Soma, to ask why he trusted her with this little child, but by then he was already gone to remove his cloak in preparation for the battle.

The half-dragon paid no attention to the fact that the soon-to-be-battling immortals were removing parts of their clothing, but seemed quite content to coo softly at the tiny dragon. She stayed beside her elf friend, lifting her head to finally watch the beginnings of the battle.

Soon she was heading back on her unsteady legs. She was beginning to get the hang of walking but it still tired her out. She mused to herself. Her friend from the sea must be here already in the stables. At last she reached the spot the half zombie and probable human waited and lifted her hand in greeting. "Thanks for waiting," she said with a small smile. "Shall we go?"

Blade Kicklighter

As his two companions headed towards their designated cabins, Blade stood where he was, waiting. It was interesting that the girl Ishli was a Seal People. Largo, however, seemed a bit more interesting, due to the fact that Blade didn't know what made him special, if he had one. Why would he be hiding it?

It didn't seem long before Largo returned, his eyes looking over Blade, seemingly judging him. Blade decided to let him. He had plenty to hide, but maybe Largo wouldn't judge him on that too much. He heard Largo mutter something and was about to say, "Excuse me?" before Ishli arrived.

"Yeah, let's get going before lunch starts," Blade said instead. He heads back to the trail that he wandered off to, knowing that his memory was still sharp and that he would remember where Firefly Falls was.

Xyllia observed everyone semi-closely, noticing that the time traveler seemed to have a affection of sorts for the elf lady. "mhmmm" She then walked near the half dragon not necessarily paying much attention to her. "I hope you dont mind i sit here" Suddenly the ground beneath rose into three chairs, one for her, one for the half dragon and the other for the elf lady, the centaur wouldnt need one, Xyllia picked the middle one, (of course) and she sat down legs crossed, assuming a chillaxing position enjoying the striping boy-show. "They sure have grown heheh" suddenly her zombie servant appeared out of a portal holding some popcorn bags. "popcorn anyone?"

Twin daggers? That was different from Titulus's normal choice of weapons. What could he possibly have up his sleeve?

It mattered not. Soma dug his boots into the Ice and smiled at his friend's little verbal jab in latin, "Hast thou forgotten? I am already dead." He retorted.

Soma's sense of magical perception began to distort and he immediately knew that Titulus had already begun to unwind the fabrics of time. Over the years, Soma had done his research and had a vague understanding of how time manipulation worked. It wasn't exactly stopping time but more moving at the speed of time itself. Flowing in between the nanoseconds in the sands of time.

Basically, it just meant that Titulus temporarily displaces his body in time and moves along the flow. Troublesome and impossible to react to. Which meant he had to go beyond reacting.

The pyromancer shot his left arm to the side and conjured three, small floating balls of flame. He did the same for his right flank. These fireballs were small in size but burned incredibly brightly. As if unstable. In reality, they were floating condensed incendiary bombs that would detonate in a huge fiery explosion if another live being approached their detection radius. This proved a threat for Soma because if Titulus detonated them, Soma would also be caught up in the blast but that was a price he was willing to pay. It kept those daggers at a distance and allowed the pyromancer to engage him at HIS range.

After having set up the Lingering Flames, Soma allowed a bit of his real power to leak out, releasing his incredibly tight control on his flame. The flames that engulged the pyromancer suddenly surged 6 feet high and wide, essentially creating a massive cloak of flame surrounding him and hiding the position of the miniature proximity mines he had placed.

His defences now set up, Soma took a step back and shot his fist forward with a crisp punch. A steady gout of flame poured forth from the limb. White hot flames shot out in a cone in front of him, already doing a number on the ice arena without even making contact.

@SleepyBuddha

Eve stood there and watched as the Demoness created the pocket dimension and seat for the others to sit in. It was amazing what a person could learn with centuries of time on their hands. The architecture on the arena was magnificent! It was better than anything her people could ever accomplish without years of work. They were simple people and they lived simple lives within the borders of their territory. Even winces and sits down. "Shhh little one relax ok? We are not in danger," she whispers. She closes her eyes and begins to hum while the fight was happening.

So far things were going as Titulus had seen. Soma was playing cautiously. It looked like he was setting up some sort of defense. Titulus already had a plan forming within his mind on what to do about that large cloak of flame, but first thing was first he needed to close the distance.

As the gout of flame closed in on the Roman simply stood there counting to himself as his displaced mind showed him a few seconds of the future. "3....2...1..." Titulus muttered to himself as he counted down the seconds until the flame would reach him, and at the last possible second Titulus stopped time and ran towards his undead friend. To keep his mind from getting lost Titulus needed to place a very delicious balancing act with his power. He couldn't peer forward in time while also stopping it. One ability would cancel out the other.

Running beside the the stream of fire Titulus closed the distance between him and his opponent in less than a second, and as Titulus dove into Soma's flame cloak the pain of the flame forced Titulus' control to cease and time resume. Titulus was prepared for burns,he could deal with them later. Titulus only had a few seconds before Soma would react if that. In their many bouts both Illusa and Soma had gained incredible reflexes from fighting him. Titulus displaced his mind once more, but the lack of concentration he was able to put into the ability limited the effect greatly. Right now he needed to work on disarming Soma.... literally. The dagger in his right hand, the one being held normally, went straight for Soma's head. This was merely a distraction for Titulus' goal of using his left handed dagger to stab the hand that was spraying that stream of fire. If his plan worked Titulus would cut off Soma's arm at the elbow.

Ishliannor followed their guide enjoying the scenery. Truly land plants were so different from those found underwater. Straight rough-looking stalks loomed high above and some bristled with needles. She felt the need to break the silence. "Have you both been to Camp Ember before?" she began, tucking a stray strand of blue green hair behind an ear.

"you know what? Lets play a game!" Xyllia got up from her chair and a sizable table bloomed up from the ground along with various cups filled with a few bright colored liquids inside them. "Everytime Soma misses we take a shot, Everytime Titulus hesitates we take a shot!" Xyllia looked at the girls with the most devious of smiles while pouring one of the cups with a glowing pink liquid into four smaller cups. Gigging internally, and watching the fight through another eye... somewhere. "Don't worry little pups, they aren't alcholic" 'Only hallucinogenic.' Once the cups were filled she slid them toward the girls and holding hers winking at them.

In one moment, Titulus was there and in the next he was gone. As expected. The next time Soma sensed him, the time traveler was literally right on top of him. He was expecting some kind of attack but he wasnt expecting to just dive straight through the fire and flames.

Soma cut his gout of flame the moment he noticed he was being flanked in such a way. The attack wasn't meant to serve the purpose of dealing damage but rather gauging his opponent. Feeling him out. It was metaphorical jab that Titulus has slipped past and was trying to cross counter.

Soma was no speed zombie, so he wasn't going to be able to avoid the knife entering his flesh. He maneuvered his head to slip the first one but it was obvious that wasn't Titulus's goal. So instead, Soma pulled his arm in and pivoted on the ball of his foot. He stepped into the stab and took the entire length of blade into his shoulder, rather than at the elbow. A shoulder was a more difficult joint to damage than the elbow because it was surrounded by much more muscle.

As the pyromancer felt the dagger enter his flesh and penetrate all the to the guard, he reached out with his free arm. He grabbed the wrist that stabbed him and braced.

The three lingering flames that were hidden in the cloak of flame had been activated the moment Titulus closed the distance and as time went back to its normal pace, the detonation sequence also returned to its normal speed. Meaning....

Three massive explosions went off right beside the dueling duo. The damage to Titulus was unknown but Soma had quite literally been thrown several dozen feet into the sky at a blinding speed. The undead was flipping uncontrollably and couldnt control his fall. The flame weaver fell back to the earth as a the blinding meteorite he was but had been unlucky enough to land on of the ice spikes that Illusa had set up prior. The pyromancer only managed to twist body slightly and be impaled through the right side of his torso, just missing the spine and heart. Instead, it completely destroyed the right lung, stomach, and part of the liver.

Fatal, of course, to someone who wasn't undead. To Soma, he would just have difficulty breathing and eating until he repaired himself. But now wasn't the time for repairs. The undead tore himself off the spike with a yell and maintained his senses on full alert. He maneuvered the lingering incendiary mines from his left flank to better positions. One was behind, one above, and one in front. If he was approached from any of the angles, recent history would repeat itself.

With his senses alert and ready, Soma began casting once more. All of the flames gathered around him slowly started taking a red tint.

Illusa Barren

Illusa ignored the demon with all of her chairs and drinks. The duel wasn't just for the two friends, they could help those who looked on as well, but Illusa would do that and more.

She knelt and closed her eyes, her consciousness drifting with the currents of her magic. She could feel the ice and where it had melted, the pressure from the fire mage and roman as they stepped on the ice. She immediately melted whatever Soma had damaged, and she surveyed the scene. Ice started creeping up her body which was normal when she did type of magic. It was to protect her body since it was now weakened and could be attacked.

Illusa liked throwing in obstacles, and now she wanted to even more.

She couldn't control water, but she could make it seem like it. Water rose again from the pond and she made tiny droplets, snowflakes being too time consuming for things like this. She did make sure that the droplets were small and frozen before whipping them into a frenzy, mimicking a snowstorm. She hummed with satisfaction as she felt for what the two would do now.

Ash jumped a little when the demon at her side suddenly decided to create chairs, and paused for a moment before sitting down on one. She eyed the drinks warily, but decided she wouldn't join in unless someone else did. Not including the demon of course. The mention that they weren't alcoholic wasn't too assuring, so she instead divided her attention between the dragon in her arms and the fight. Though, she did occasionally glance sideways at the demon, tail flicking about. The demon was...strange. But then, she supposed so was everyone here. She peered over as Illusa created more magic, and her eyes widened in awe. Her friend was truly amazing.

Pain, burning hot pain. Titulus would certainly incur at least second degree from diving head first into the flames, and he didn't even manage to do what he had risked so much to do. Soma was an experienced fighter indeed. By forcing Titulus to stab into the should he would have a harder time cutting it, not to mention getting away from what was about to happen. All there was within the the next few seconds was all consuming flame. Titulus slowed down time as much as he could given the amount of pain he was in and got to work escaping Soma's grasp. He maybe had 4 of his slow seconds to pull this off, but Titulus had gotten out of tough spots like this before.

Titulus jumped forward, knocking Soma off balance and stabbing the hand that was keeping Titulus there. The pain of cutting off his own hand was dulled thanks to the massive amount of burns he had already sustained. Now free he just needed to escape from the blast radius. Unfortunately freeing himself cost him 2 of his seconds and at this rate he was going to sustain a lot more damage. Titulus did the only thing he could do to minimize damage and slept for the from.

Right as Titulus was diving to the group the incendiary bombs exploded and knocked him into and through a wall obstacle Illusa and into fell into some sort of pit trap filled with slush. It felt great on his burns but Titulus needed to move quickly. He didn't know Soma's status and he could spare the concentration to find out. It was time for an old trick but a good one. The best way Titulus could explain it to the others was a sort of pseudo heal. Titulus focused on his own bodies time and rewound his time. Slowly but surely his would would reverse as if they never happened. Starting with the most recent injury, being his now missing hand to the burns. As much as he would like to completely heal the most he would probably be able to do is fix his hand before he was found. After all it was kind of hard to miss a puddle of blood and an entire hand returning to his body.

@shadowz1995

With a large chuck of his torso missing and blackened blood dripping down onto the cold ice under his feet, Soma couldn't move very much. But as Titulus began healing, the pyromancer noticed he certainly did not escape unscathed. It was a chance he couldn't let go.

The cast was complete and now Soma had a successful chaos flame writhing in his fists. The demonic fire flared with the desire to cut loose and Soma was all too willing to oblige. The undead rose from the icy ground and slammed his fist into the ice. Everything was quiet for a moment but shortly the ground began to rumble with the surging power coming from the bottom of the lake.

Mere seconds later, colossal columns of blood red flame came bursting through the ice, completely englufing the arena in demonic fire and magma. The effects were devastating and caused the ice beneath him to rupture and the undead mage sunk into the lake. It was unfortunate but this provided a rather optimal situation. Titulus, in theory, shouldnt be able to move very quickly underwater even with his time powers but Soma did have a flame that wasn't affected by water. His newest creation. The pyromancer sunk slowly in the water but this didn't phase him. All of his defenses were made void by being englufed in a body of water. But within the darkness of the watery grave, an even deeper darkness was being born in between Soma's hands. A flame of pure darkness. The flame burned away the very atoms of the water and began to spread like wildfire. The black flame didnt care what it touched. It didnt care what it burned. It just longed for contact of any kind and it would destroy the world for that contact. It would burn until there was nothing left to burn.

Soma needed several moments to channel the attack to full effect and he had luckily already touched the bottom of the lake. Hopefully the chaos firestorm had bought him enough time and deterred the time traveller long enough to finish the all consuming spell.

@SleepyBuddha

wallpaperfusion-rise-of-the-runesmiths-chronomancer-400x400.jpg

Titulus could only brace as the lake all but caved into itself and he along with the ice sank into the pitch black waters below. He only saw for a moment but he notes fed the blood red flame of the chaos fire. It seemed Soma really wasn't pulling any punches here and considering that Soma was the one who destroyed the arena he wanted Titulus in the water for something. This wouldn't be the first time they had used water to hinder his movement and make his power over time all but worthless. However this time Titulus had a new card to play he wasn't just going to float around in this dark abyss waiting for Soma's next attack. Titulus focused his power and it could be felt resonating with the entire arena.

Titulus didn't normally have an issue with water as he could theoretically just recycle the same breath of air endlessly, but he couldn't do that with his concentration focused on his newest card. Slowly the timeline of the arena was pulled back and the Ice began fixing itself much like his hand did. However using the technique on such a large area was unprecedented for Titulus thus far.

He would have to focus on repairing the arena and hope he could surface before whatever Soma was plotting was put into action.

@shadowz1995

Somewhere....distant....Soma could feel the works of magic. Titulus, it seemed. Doing.....something. The undead couldn't bring himself to care. He just wanted to cling to something. It felt as if he was endlessly falling. Grasping at whisps and shadows. Things that would never truly help him. It made him angry. Furious even. He tried so hard to help, so hard to fit in and yet nothing stuck! It was so damn agonizing! No matter how much he tried, no one would reach out to him. No one would accept him!

Fine...

If no one would accept him then he would MAKE them recognize him. They would all taste his anger. His spite. His wrath. His fury for having abandoned him for simply being what he was!

Somewhere inside of Soma, he was aware that these were not his thoughts. It was the black flame growing stronger. The flame of humanity. Something no one other than himself had seen. This flame represented all of humanity's strife and despair. A flame of wrath and fury. A flame that cried out. A flame of negativity. Constantly seeking out the positive elements. The only beings that would be spared the wrath of the human flame were the ones who lived in darkness. Understood it. Thrived in it. Those individuals were few and far in between. It took Soma's decades to truly understand the nature of darkness. The nature of man. But he finally achieved it. Now, it was time to use it.

"Burn..."

The undead whispered underwater and he released the small, black flame. Instantly, it began to burn everything. It spread from the bottom of the lake and to the top in seconds, incinerating everything and anything it touched. Where there once was water, abyssal flames took its place. It scorched all indiscriminately. Drawn to the light. To the positive elements.

The dark inferno began licking the bottom of the arena and didnt burn it away immediately because Titulus's neutral temporal magic takes longer to consume than Illusa's positive ice magic or the natural state of water and earth.

Soma had to admit. It felt good To let the human flame consume everything. It felt....right. Soma used to be human after all. It was a desire they all contained...somewhere within them. It was only because he was no longer human that the intoxicating euphoria of this fire didn't consume him entirely. It was the only reason he could master such destructive obsession.

Even then, mastery of this only meant not losing complete control. The way this was proven was the flames stopped short as it reached the water's edge and just continued to burn away the earth that was there. Illusa and Xyllia would feel nothing but the hybrid dragon would. Her human half would feel a pull to the dark dire. Even Titulus would feel that allure, being a former human himself.

Xyllia frowned when no one wanted to accept her game so she simply threw away the cups and sad on the table overlooking the duel. "sigh, you guys are no fun" She watched with delight as their fight got more and more intense "My, my they aren't holding back this time are they?" She wondered if it was because she practically allowed them to go all out with no consequences with her little pocket dimension, of course no one can die while in it, only feel the pain that would've been what should've been the killing blow, but they don't know that. It was until Soma made a earth shattering move did Xyllia start to get interested, "The light show intensifies!"  She smiled out of a mix of emotions as the blooming fires and floating rocks and burning things filled the skies in front of her. It even made her think about reconsidering pushing on a deal with Soma. "More! More!" Her voice chanted throughout the dimension, she wanted more chaos, more power, but can they provide it? Xyllia lifted into the air a few dozen feet in the sky and flew to the middle of the carnage to observe her spoils.

Illusa felt it.

Her magic was intertwined with the water and partial ice, and she could feel it. The form of magic she was using was something she had only practiced back home, alone on her island with nothing but her thoughts. All she had to do was concentrate and let her mind wander, feel the ocean's tides as the moved about with such strength, the water lapping at the beach playfully..it was serene.

This was nothing like that.

She had gone to far in, her consciousness getting pulled in.

There was so much destruction, so much darkness, all from flame. Fire was supposed to burn. Keep homes warm, light the way. It was also used to burn those homes it once warmed and inflict pain, but Soma never said that when he tried to teach her about it to get over her fear. It was a tool that placed in the wrong hands could be wielded to cause pain.

He was doing that right now.

Her anger at that caused her swiftly retreat, and the image she saw before her was terrifying. It had never gotten this bad before, and now with her consciousness back into her body, she saw the horror of it. Soma was wielding black fire. It was going after her own ice, and she hated the way it seemed to taint it before melting it away but by but. She was disgusted by it actually, and the demon was applauding it.

Illusa wanted to make it stop, but the two would just complain.

She simply waved her hand and all the ice and water that was or used that made up the arena melt and flowed back into the pond. She'd be damned if she let Soma taint it somehow.

Once Titulus was back on the icy floor of the arena he could feel it. A desire.... emotions he had suppressed a long time ago. Why were they surfacing now of all times? Titulus closed his eyes and looked into the future. Mere minutes from now he could see the arena cloaked in a.... black flame. Even though he was just looking he could feel something within that flame. Titulus' power began swelling much more than he had drawn out before. Titulus had always been calm and composed for a reason. The power of time was something that could reduce everything to dust with a touch. Thinking back it was the day he accidentally killed his mother that he began suppressing his power, only drawing the bare minimum and even then the time traveller was ever cautious.

That flame was pulling at the darkness within Titulus and he needed to end this fight before he and Soma were consumed by its influence. Titulus held out his hand and locked onto Soma's timeline and spent a large amount of his power to manipulate it. Forcing Soma's position back to his starting position when the fight began. With this Titulus had the upper hand, but he was drawing too much power. Titulus wasn't sure what would happen if he continued, but he could feel it. His body was being displaced and he couldn't control it.

"Let's finish this Soma." Titulus said being very carefully of that black flame. He had a few more tricks up his sleeve. It would work best for Titulus if Soma did as he has done before and stayed put. Using his power over time he could pull the explosions that dealt so much damage from the past into the Present. However it would only pull the explosions into the Present to where they happened. He couldn't just put the explosions on repeat whereever he pleased. He NEEDED Soma to stay put.

Soma was suddenly back at the top of the arena where he had started. Everything was still wreathed in abyssal flame but it was like he had been rewound in time to where this fight began. In fact, that is probably exactly what happened. Titulus couldn't do much underwater, much less at the bottom of a lake. The pyromancer laughed aloud for a moment, the action looking disturbingly sinister while the flames of humanity burned everything around them in such a fashion. The flaming darkness still had Soma in something of a trance. He wanted to burn more. He wanted to fight more.

The undead locked eyes with the time traveled and began laughing again, almost maniacally. As he laughed, the pyromancer set his body ablaze once more but it was different this time. The flame was not normal like in the beginning but the flame of chaos. The demon fire stroked the undead's battle fury and a wide smile appeared on the fire mage's face. The combination of the dark flames burning around him and the ambitious chaos flame was pulling out the "real" Soma. A Soma that Titulus and Illusa had seen very few times. As calm and collected as Soma was, he was strongly attracted to fire for a reason. The mage burned like a fire himself but not like the sun or an explosion. Soma was a forest fire. Slow to burn, needing fuel to burn hot and bright. It was only once Soma's blood was truly boiling that his baser, truer nature revealed itself. This fight was doing just that.

The chaos flame that burned on Soma's body was not like the normal flame. This flame could not be controlled in such a manner. It demanded payment and payment it received. Despite the pain, Soma smiled through it. The demon fire was literally burning him but in doing so, it was raising his firepower (no pun intended) several times over. (For you dark souls fans, think of it as a combination between immolation and Power within. If they stacked.)

"Hahahahahaha! Come on!" The pyromancer yelled happily. The skin on his body was being burnt and beginning to flake away like ash from logs. Yet, it only seemed to drive the mage forward. His eyes glowed brighter than the flames that swallowed him. He wasn't playing defensively anymore. No....He needed to attack!

Soma slammed his fist into the ground and summoned another Chaos Firestorm, using it as both an attack and a means to block Titulus's advance. He was plotting something, that much was clear. Otherwise, he wouldn't have risked resetting Soma's position in such a way.

The pyromancer stood up straight and jumped backwards. One by one, large fireballs started to light up over the undead's body, forming an arc over his head. There were 7 of them and Soma didn't hesitate to use them. All of the fireballs glowed briefly before suddenly doubling in size launching towards the time traveler simultaneously. Two came from above and two from each flank, the gigantic fireballs literally howling with the demonic power surging through them.

This wasn't about the fight anymore for Titulus. It was merely about survival thanks to that black flame. There were very few times when Soma lost control like this and during those times Titulus would just have to hunker down and dodge until either Soma burned out or he could find an opening. However with that chaos flame cloak it was looking like the best thing Titulus could do was wait him out. That was until Soma started using large spells. A firestorm to keep Titulus at bay and followed with 6 very large chaos fire orbs. Well it looked like the arena wasn't going to last long, but Titulus had a trick up his sleeve. The first thing he needed to do was figure out Soma's position.

Stopping time Titulus weaved his way in between the chaos fireballs and to the edge of the lava pool created from the chaos firestorm. It looked like Soma had moved away from his original position so Titulus would have to go with his last plan.

Time would return to normal as Titulus thrust his hands forward, focusing his power Soma and began accelerating his body through time. Normally this wouldn't effect the undead but thanks to that flame cloak Titulus was betting he could make Soma burn up before Titulus was taken out.

As Soma's body burned up progressively faster Titulus' own body was buckling under the strain. His usually youthful appearance was steadily becoming more aged as he poured more power into Soma. " This ends here and now Soma!"

It was right about then that Titulus noticed a seventh chaos fire orb barreling down at him from above. He was too far in to hesitate now. He focused on advancing Soma's time. He would just have to take the damage.

"End? Tis merely the beginning!" The undead yelled out with a cackle. Despite his state of mind, Soma did knees did buckle and fell upon them. The rate that he was burning up was far too quickly and it was burning through the tendons in his body. Titulus wasn't going to dodge the last blow. He couldn't. Not if he wanted to keep Soma down for good. Which meant this was going to come down to who could take the final blow the best. But of course, the undead wanted some insurance.

Unable to move his arms, Soma still looked at Titulus and focused on him. Chaos flames materialized around the time manipulator and began to swirl around him, Titulus being the center. The flames converged in on the former human's position and would detonate simultaneously with the incoming giant fireball of chaos. Two attacks at once that would blow them both away, regardless of whether it hit the mark or not. (Think of flame swathe. Basically)

The pyromancer was rendered immobile but he would not go out without a taking the Time traveler with him. If Soma went down, then so did he.
