A Galaxy of Darkness

@SephirothSage Hi! I think the interest count was at four, now five with you. Have a concept for your character?

Grey said there's a couple fan-made splats he might allow.

There is an argument to be made for Outsider or Leviathan.
So far, concepts and requests (made to GM for things we'd like to see):

So far, some suggestions for concepts include:
Free Council techné hanzer or Mysterium xeno-archaeologist.

An addled Free Council Mage with big ideas... sort of.

Mysterious Ninja Bodyguard/Security Officer.

Darkling Changeling/Resident Psychologist.

Treasure/Bounty Hunting or infiltration/extraction of goods or individuals seem like "business opportunities".

Magi provide an odd couple wanting to uncover mysterious knowledge for (Knowledge's Sake/Social Change).

Pay-checks or a thesis could be other motivations.

Maybe an Ordo Dracul Vampire Medical Doctor?

Just- the Ship's Medic. You pay him in a little bite every check up.

:D

But legitimately- a Vampire along those lines, or perhaps a Mage; not too comfortable trying the other nWoD Splats, so its one of those two. I'd need to put some thought into proper concept for the mage- but a pseudo-sane Ordo Dracul Doctor sounds fun to me.

I sense fun times ahead.

Use any relevant 2nd ed material for your chargen. GMC should be functional if hammered into some older splats.

I'll look into shoring up weaknesses because goddamn 2nd ed supers - so far vamps and wolves - are a bit nuts.

Also would prefer we keep Mages to minimum - two is frankly pushing it.

I admit I haven't kept up with news about the second edition. For Changeling chargen, would that be same as nWoD first edition Changeling: The Lost + God Machine Chronicle + latest draft (second edition Darklings)?

@Cirno - more or less, but when you run into oddities PM me about it and I'll sort out a fix.

@Shining Lotus Sage - Yes. I know this is less than ideal.

Quietly regretting not applying for a position at Onyx Path when Changeling was still in pre-production.

I have no idea why this is less than ideal, unless you mean the hassle of juggling three books. And to that, I say AD&D 2ed, black books. Also, I memorized a majority of Ex2.5

Seren was not okay. The last sometimes, where the airlock kept the darkness in the station, had been... There's a word for it. Seren doesn't know what word it is, and the missing bit of someone else's memory reminds him—whatever the word, he never heard it used. He knows it exists, but that's it. He'd recognize it immediately, the first time anyone ever used it in front of him. He'd remember, then. Or gunnery sergeant Michel Courvant would remember it for him. That's what the Progenitors called Seren; that's who they wanted him to be. But he bolted up from the nutrient bath with a head full of facts and no experience using them. All the tools, no blueprints. That's one of the words he recognized the first time: blueprints. And there's a word for that, too; he's certain of it. There's a word for feeling familiar and novel at once, for already remembering something the first time it happens. It's on the tip of his tongue.

Fortunately, he doesn't have many new experiences to accidentally remember, any more. The Consilium was kind enough to provide a single ship, with a room he could memorize, just for him. And when he leaves the room, the same people are always in the ship. Almost always.

Except sometimes he has to leave the ship, and that's always hard to predict. Sometimes, sometimes means a lot of things Michel would have understood, like strange people, but usually too many at once. The first-time memories come too fast to understand, and Seren has to fall back on the Rules. Keep Phlogist Krantz in sight. Stay out of sight. Don't let anything that moves itself come close to Phlogist Krantz, but give one warning. Warning means show how you can break its body, but don't finish. If anything that moves in straight lines comes close to Phlogist Krantz, stop it, then follow the lines back to the controller and stop them—no warnings this kind. Seren hates those sometimeses; falling on the Rules feels like Death and Slave and Mindless. Seren doesn't really understand those words, even after Michel remembered them for him,but he knows they are Terrifying.

That's the word. Terrifying. The last sometimes, on the dark station, was Terrifying. Those sometimeses are best, because Michel didn't know anything about them. Seren can learn-first them. That feels... what's the word?

(obviously, names subject to complete overhaul)

And now to have no idea how to proceed.

My Changeling supernatural psychologist's long-term aspiration is "Write a thesis on psychological treatment for different supernaturals". Would be interesting to see whether Seren/Michel categorizes this academic interest as a threat. Also she'd totally want to study Seren/Michel if his strangeness was reflected externally.

So this being nWoD... I am leaning towards a Ordos Dracul Daeva, now- fully so. Medical Doctor, very personable fellow, fascinating with the concept of beauty, and of prolonging mortal life so that he can enjoy their company longer, and so that they are less.. fragile, when push comes to shove- he doesn't like the beautiful things he's fascinated with being fragile, so science will make them stronger..!

R-right?

That is, a Charismatic Mad Scientist.

Now we wait until I get the thread up and the mechanical sheets are in.

So, lemme recap here:

Two Mages.

Promethean escort to said Mages.

A Changeling psychologist.

And a charming mad scientist Vampire.

Which means between them, two Mages have to cover captain/navigator/pilot/engineer, and the Promethean is acting security officer.

How do we feel about this? Anyone have thought to snag an extra player or two for the remaining roles?

I admit I am not thrilled by having two Mages on board.

Would I be correct in assuming nWoD then? EDIT: Nevermind, the post above mine answers my question. Hm. No clue what to play.

EDIT, REDUX: Please tell me the 'mad scientist' vamp isn't a fishmalk.

I'll have to think on concepts, then. Unless someone has suggestions or ideas. I'm not really familiar with nWoD outside of Changeling and Mortals.

Nothing wrong with more Changelings~

Mages are currently bit overloaded in responsibility: captain/navigator/pilot/engineer, if any of those stick out to you.
