Fantasy Mysteries of the Mundane (1x1 with Shannon Trevor)

She sighs as she finally makes it back to the car and puts him in the passenger side seat before getting in herself and driving back towards the office "Great, so much for that plan, we'll need a new one" she says to herself
 
Jon's eyes opened slowly to reveal a cieling. Groaning, he sat up, finding himself on the couch in Skye's office. He looked over to the young woman as his hand went to the bump on his head. "Skye...what happened?"
 
"I don't know how, but they knew we were there" she mutters and then under her breath "Normally night Veil works like a charm" she sighs then this tree branch sort of fell on your shoulder and knocked you out, I got us out of there as soon as possible"
 
"I have my ways Colonel, but you wouldn't believe me" she says with a wink "But yes I got you out of there, we're partners in this, and if there's one thing I value is loyalty" she says "And you were out for a good 4 hours"
 
He looked at Skye in surprise. She was't tiny by any means but Jon was much larger. To carry him while out, all the way back to her car was incredible.

The Colonel gave a deep sigh. They could talk about it later. "Sorry for being such a burden."
 
she smiles and pours him a brandy while giving him his food from before "Kept it fresh for you" she says then places a gentle hand on his shoulder "You're not a burden Jon, these things happen sometimes" she says as she goes over to the blue prints which were now pinned on the wall "We must've missed something, some hidden, subtle detail" she says in thought. "but tell me something Jon, take a look at the branch and tell me if you've ever seen a cut or break like that before"
 
Jon's hand goes to the one Skye placed on his shoulder. She would feel the rough calluses as he gave her hand a quick squeeze as a gesture of thanks.

She handed him the branch as he asked for paracetamol. The pounding in his head was growing worse but was temporarily forgotten about as he studied the branch. "It's cut clean through. I mean perfectly."
 
Skye nods "exactly, no knife I know of could make a cut that clean, nor any other blade, this goes beyond what we know"she says as she gives him a glass of water and some paracetamol "Here, after this, I suggest we turn in for the night and continue in the morning"
 
That lone remark made her blush very deeply "Colonel!" she gasps but giggles "I never said anything about sharing a bed but.." she smiles and goes over to him and runs her hands over his arms "I'm not completely opposed to it, in fact I'd probably feel safer with a big, strong man sleeping next to me"
 
It would be a bold faced lie if Jon said he wasn't attracted to the younger woman. The fact she had carried him all the way out of the woods by herself only added to the allure. "I'll keep you safe," he said with a smile as he wrapped one arm around her back.
 
"Well I normally sleep here, but there is a motel nearby" she says as she picks up her satchel case and puts her revolvers away in the cabinet, "It'd certainly be more comfortable" she then holds out her arm for him
 
That made her blush even more before she coughs and hooks arms with him as she begins leading the way to her car "Valkyrie eat your heart out" she says with a giggle
 
Jon twirled her around, "Valkyrie? After what you did with me in the woods I thought that would be you."

She giggles and shakes her head "Mm nope, Valkyrie is Skulduggery's main partner" she says and then rests her head on his chest before blushing and coughing "Shall we get to the car then?" she leads the way and opens the door for him "We can order room service too" she says as she gets into the driver's seat and buckles up.
 
The drive to the motel is short. Jon rests his hand on Skye's thigh as they make their way through the traffic. "You treat all your new partners like this?" he asked with a warm chuckle.
 
"You're the first, to be honest" she says and parks the car in her reserved spot and turns off the ignition before getting out "Come on, we've had a long night, and it would be good to get a little rest in after some nice hot food and then we can think of a better approach to a steak out in the morning"
 
The sun peaking through the gap in the curtains was enough to rouse Jon in the morning. He opened his eyes slowly. Skye's head rested against his chest, one arm draped over him, almost protectively. "Good morning."
 
Skye moans and groans as she slowly opens her eyes "Mm Colonel? I-I hope I didn't say anything embarrassing in my sleep" she says softly but stays snuggled up to him,
 
Skye smiles and nods "I know, good thing too" she says before getting up and stretching "We'll have breakfast then go o the office to see what we did wrong"
