Fandom Marvel: Avenger Contingency

@Jinx the premise here is that we are all playing original characters, new superheroes, that are being trained by SHIELD as a counter force to the avengers. You sign up for a character that would represent your rival. You wouldn't actually be playing them in this case. Would you like to play antman's rival?
 
I'd like to point out that the biggest issue with Allcure dissapearing is none of us know where the plot was headed. We have a starting point but no finish line and no route to get there. If we do go forward with this on our own we will need to do some serious plot work to get a fully functioning role play out of this.
 
well, its a pretty simple (but really intresting if played right) story line and I can kinda see where he might have been going, sheild recruits new heroes to combat the old ones so they can check their power is the baisic premise but theres obviously some ulterior motives going on, my guess is the shadowy director has an agenda that he wants the heros out of the way for. So they start training new heros, then when the directors plans come into play and the avengers notice, the new heroes are sent to fight them off starting a massive conflict between the two.THis continues until people from both sides start to get suspicious then crap goes down counters ally with the avengers to stop the new directors nefarious plots.

Perhaps we can also add in some politics with the public opinion. If the new avengers can manage to get the population on their side it would mean trouble for the original Avengers. The issue is a great deal of the start up was supposed to be the new team getting trained up and we'll need people to play the 'npcs' as our "GM" is AWOL. If we all input on this and work as a cohesive unit we could get some badass npcs going on, like the director, and the actual avengers. There's a lot of potential in this roleplay and I, for one, don't want to let it die in the infant stages.
 
@CrimsonEclipse @Jinx sort of asked about antman first but I'm not positive they wanted the roll. If they don't respond a yes or no by the end of the day I'll slot you in. As the current list babysitter that's the best I've got for now. Is there anyone else you'd like to reserve as a contingency?
 
Excuse me? You came in here yesterday and posted stating, as I understand it, that you wanted to play as Antman or an OC. Seeing as how the whole purpose of this plot is to play as OCs I was slightly confused as to what your intentions were. I asked for clarification only three minutes after your original post and received no response at all. Those types of things generally don't bother me. I don't know if you simply went offline after that point, so its not a problem.


However, as someone else has requested, demonstrating full comprehension of the plot and character options, the same character as was in question with you it is pertinent to ask for your confirmation before a potentially valuable addition to this role play gets turned away based on a character you may or may not want.


Sorry I bothered you with my relevant questions.
 
This seems like a good idea, but there is a lot of lore conflicts that can happen and with the thread starter. If this does not go underway, I may create a very similar idea.
 
If you don't mind me asking, where are the problem conflicts you see? Every fandom rp to a certain extend has lore conflicts. WHat would you change in you version?

Several could be that those who are making the counter heroes to the main Avengers could make an entirely new superhero. But the thing is, to counter an Avenger's powers, you would have to have contradicting powers. Like for Hulk, you'd have to have a really strong power or a really big transformation such as his. And for Iron Man, a power like Magneto could work. And I couldn't exactly have the same roleplay as this one since that would be stealing ideas, so I'd have to have another idea, which I'm forming now.
 
At his point in time I don't care anymore, just give me whatever. I'm not really trying he mean or rude here, just give me something to play and ill go on my marry way....
 
I do have to apologize that last message was a fair bit more snippy than I meant it to be. You were put on the list as antman's counter, its on the previous page.

Wouldn't the counter of the Vision be basically a version of Ultron? I mean, they were already counters in the movie, kind of.
 
Depends on what kind of counter you wanted to go for. So in the case of me and Hawkeye, I could go for a direct counter like a speedster that's too fast for Barton to hit. Alternately, I could go for a more similar approach by building a combat archer that will rival with Barton. Theres tons of other ways to do it but I think you are at least partly right that Ultron sorta is Vision's counter.


Rambling aside, all i'm saying is just because Ultron can be a counter doesn't mean he's the only counter.

Ah yes, there are multiple ways you can be someone's counter. You can have a counter who has the same powers as the original one, but is more powerful. You can also have a counter with contradicting powers, and the examples you named.


It's going to be interesting to figure out the counter of dear old Cap. ^^ If this RP is actually going to take of, that is.
 
I hope so. This seems like a great crew and i'm excited for it. I honestly still have no Idea where I'm going with my counter. I have two characters sort of outlined that I think would be interesting but neither of them seem perfect for this to me.


Do you think it would be advisable to play an alien race? Its mostly a cosmetic thing for me but I think it opens up a lot of interaction potential.
