Thank you! Actually you're in luck, it's been my birthday for the last 12 minutes :)

Haha, that's good then. It's only 7:13PM for me, so not quite yet.
So I got an infraction point over something which, once again, nobody made the effort to point out (as in, regardless of giving me the point, just a warning, or none, they didn´t still don´t show me WHERE the infraction occurred). This is an overall very destructive behavior, RPN , and @[835:@Musician] since you were the one giving the infraction point, you may want to see this.

If people are not told where the thing is they did wrong is, or worse, what it is, and instead and just pointed out the rule they broke (do note that in most cases, the person was not aware they were breaking the rules, so they won´t be able to recall any instance when they might have broken it), then that will lead to lenience in adjusting one´s behavior or misguided attempts at fixing it, that may make the problem worse due to the previously explained unawareness of how the problem came to be in the first place. And this is the best case scenario, the worst being that the person will just ragequit the site for feeling like they are walking on landmines.

I, for example, have a feeling I may know what kind of thing got me the infraction point, but given the extent to the rules they showed me, it could be anything from this past week, which was a tense week in which I got in a few fights. I did not know I had crossed the line of site rules, which in spite of going against my every belief for what´s good for humanity is something that I must and will respect for my care for this place and the people in it, and thus will attempt to keep in line as much as possible. But this means that any of those fights could have bean whatever @[835:@Musician] was warning me about. I won´t tag anyone else for fear of starting another fight, but I got into fights defending a friend, I got into a fight where I defended myself against a blatant insult to my person, both to the face and behind my back, I got into a fight with someone who´s mental health I was seriously worried about, and I got into fights which weren´t even actually fights and just consisted of me asking someone "what´s wrong?" and that person telling me to fuck off.

While I do feel justified in each of the cases, which should be pretty obvious by my description of each of those fights, which no doubt have other perspectives about them that I can hardly conceive, at least one has been perceived as a breach of site rules. But here´s the thing: I can´t do anything about it until I know which one. Because depending on it, the kind of behavior I would have to change to would be considerably different. Heck, one of them is something that would seriously make me consider quitting the site, a thought that never crossed my mind in any serious manner in my time here.

In short, there´s danger in not mentioning or linking what the infraction was, together with what is already used, which is the quoting of the rules. That applies not just to my own example, about which I am taking the opportunity to ask, but to a general case.

Ultimately, any rule serves a purpose that is not the rule itself. Since the rules of the site are probably meant for it´s well-being, then improving the way they are enforced would certainly be advisable.
I find it hilarious how sometimes people will just go "I am bored" and then just be super picky about what they want to do about that boredom. If you don´t have those high-quality things to do, either look for them without complaining or be willing to compromise with something that is not as good as the ideal.

Why compromise for something that isn't interesting to you? Interest is what makes bored go away. We're picky because if we get into something we don't like, then we won't reply afterwards, then imminently we're board again.

I'm assuming you posted this because of my recent posts. If not then I do apologize for assuming...

I didn´t post this about your recent posts. And I wasn´t saying the problem was being picky in of itself, that you should compromise with something you don´t like. I said that either you shouldn´t be saying it or you should be able to compromise with something that is not ideal. Not ideal doesn´t mean you don´t like it, it just means it´s not "oh the perfect thing" or it´s something you won´t like as much as said ideal.

Essentially, if you have to say "I am bored", that should be expressing a need to get out of that boredom, and that you need help doing so. There is no point in posting it if you don´t want aid, and I find it plain rude to ask for help and then waste the time of people who are trying to be helpful just for being nitpicky.

I agree... The only real reason one would post about being bored is if they wanted to talk or socialise in some way.

    Otherwise, it's nonsensical.
I can´t believe this. I´ve strived to not let this get to me, but it happened: For the first time, I put someone on my ignored list. It feels terrible.

I don´t like fighting. I am not competitive, I am not judgmental, I am not argumentative. I won´t deny that I am critical and confrontational though. I won´t deny I get into a lot of arguments. But I don´t do it for the sake of fighting, nor for the sake of hurting nor to make myself look better, but because I truly care about helping people progress and improve. Living in illusion be that the other person or myself, is no state for a human being. And if this sounds all grandiose to you, then it´s simple: it´s my philosophy. A belief isn´t just random nonsense one spews, it´s how one chooses to live. And that´s all the more reason to face it and confront it.

it feels terrible to argue with people. It could be a good experience, it could helpful and feel good, it could strengthen bonds and improve lives rather than doing the opposite, if you people were just willing to listen to each other and to reason.

But you know what feels worse, unbearably worse? To be insulted and threatened by someone who refuses to listen.

this is honestly, a text wall I can very much appreciate.
That moment when someone calls you something and gives you no chance to defend yourself:

If that person happens to see this, here is my stance on confronting other people:

*it´s only worth it to confront someone if both of the parties involved stands to gain something superior to the effort put in. Whether they actually get that or not is irrelevant.

*pre-established examination of both sides should be conducted by the perpetrator of the confrontation, with an attempt to attack their own ideas in the examination process

*the value of a confrontation, in many cases, is the value you give to truth. In particular, for example, it is not advisable to confront someone if you believe that personal feelings are more important than truth.
Amazing people of RPN, give me your help. I think I just found the mechanical solution for the missing class in my VRMMORPG, and I need a nature related DPS class, that being none of the following:

I meant in terms of lore. Mechanically every class is decided (the type of thing you wanted is there as the drainer class by the way)

Ever since the dawn of the industrial revolution and, I imagine, even before it, humanity has had this stupid attitude of exploring people, sparing dimes by giving people with less power than you worse conditions. Historically, though, more successful businesses are the ones which offer good working conditions and incentivize progress and working to reach your maximum, rather than punishing you for not meeting the minimums.

I see this way too often applying to GMs too, though, the impulse to explore people. Heck, I probably even do it myself without realizing it sometimes. But what I see is that many GMs take the groups they form as if pieces, who have to fit THEIR schedules and THEIR arbitrary senses. While RPN has a positive attitude of not trying to meddle too much into how GMs run their threads, it´s painfully obvious to see that many just don´t put two seconds of thought on how things will look and feel like from the player perspective and have either no future plans or future plans that read like a half-baked book rather than potential for cooperation.

To any GM that reads this: remember to respect your players. I know you´re probably thinking you already do that, but think of every single privilege you ever take from any player. up to stuff like why you don´t just spoil all your plans from the beginning, and really think about why you are doing each of those things. Odds are that if you take it seriously, you will see a bunch of rules that don´t make sense. A bunch of decisions you made that were based on your mood or gut feeling of that day and don´t hold up to any serious inspection. Remember that your rights as a GM exist so you can run your RPs better and more creatively, not so you can create rules that favor your experience at the expense of that of others.

my apologies for the rant, good look to all GMs out there and all the other roleplayers as well.
Happy  Year Everyone! I wish I could make a GIF and send it to everyone working and wishing it like I did with Christmas, but my family happens to be awake so I can´t! Nevertheless, know that in this new year, you are not forgotten, and I wish EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU a Happy and Fruitful New Year!
my apologies everyone, but I will basically be off all night and possible a good chunk of tomorrow too. New Year and going back home are busy stuff.
Whenever I see an anti-religion video which attempts to present some form of argument, with due exceptions of course, all I see are pretentious people spewing stuff that I already refuted to pick on people who aren´t actually part of the religion they are criticizing or who clearly have mental disabilities.

What if that higher power, in order to give us a chance to choose him or reject him, allowed for evil, wrong choices, and failure to exist in the first place? What if he valued our decisions and decided not to leave us as "machines" that just did his bidding? He would've rather given us the freedom to engage in genuine, heartfelt relationships with him and our fellow men than to be obedient without question, and to offer that chance, we must have been allowed the chance to fail and choose the things that are wrong in life. Wouldn't he have rather us  be *human* rather than machine? The life of a human is a great tale of ups and downs, joys and sorrows, victories and failures—all scattered throughout his or her lifetime. Without any capacity for someone to fail, would they have ever lived in the first place?

That's what I think about the problem of evil, anyway.

our actions define us, yes, but our beliefs are what sets our actions. If I believe the door is to the left and I seek to leave the room, I will not go to the right, for example. Our reason and beliefs are what is at the core of our actions.

The fact that there are different beliefs in the world makes it all the MORE important that we seek to discuss these things seriously. After all, at the most 1 can be right, and even if in the end we don´t exactly determine which, we should at least be able to get closer to which are real, and which are just plain absurd. Yes, some life styles will likely be sufficient to salvation (using this term to imply the afterlife, I know not every religion calls it this way) even if a person is not a believer in that particular belief (and if atheism is true, then it doesn´t matter at all),but reason still stands that there are infinite possibilities, some of which are actually practiced, that just plain go against the right way to live. Morality, for example, is often inspired culturally by religion. For another example, should atheism be correct, then all the time and money spent on religious activities is wasted in not doing something actually helpful for the world. It´s hard to explain just how big of a matter this is, because it literally encompasses every aspect of everyone´s lives.
If CRISPR has as much potential as it seems, it may be at once the scariest and most awesome thing I have heard about in ages.
