Lexa Gilliam

"Um... yep, that's what I do." Lexa was somewhat taken aback by the barrage of questions that Abbey had thrown at her. It just wasn't something she was used to. Normally, people were too distracted by the fact that she had a Gift at all to really question any further. That, and the situation in which they experienced it usually wasn't conducive to conversation.

"Well, I still need to eat normal food, just like everyone else," she replied, trying to remember everything she'd just been asked. "And, uh, how much I eat affects how long it takes to wear off. Like, this'll probably last a few hours..."

The last question was something she had to think about for a moment. "Hmm... I've never really considered it before. I suppose they do taste different, otherwise I wouldn't like different things on different days." She sat back down, seeing this conversation might last a little longer that she'd been expecting.

"So, how does your's work then?" she asked, hoping to deflect the focus away from herself. She didn't mind being the center of attention by any stretch of the imagination, but this was a little much - it was exhausting just trying to keep up with Abbey's breakneck pace.

Now that was a good question. "I'd be interested in hearing that as well, if you don't mind, of course, Abbey. Genius inventors are one of those gifted that we keep hearing about in the news, but I've never met one before!" I didn't mention that she looked quite young as well. That would've been rather condescending. More importantly, if she had been a super-science gifted for some time, chances were good she was more of an 'adult' than I was. I wasn't going to delude myself into thinking I'd achieved anything in life.

[Haku]

"What did you think of your first request?" Haku asks Alexander curiously.

It's a fairly easy one for Haku, but the same obviously may not be true for someone with little to no combat experience. But it's nice to finally be on the way back to Brinkhaven. If Haku didn't feel the need to get a change of clothes before, she definitely felt the need to do so now after visiting the dusty town.
The lollipop does take her mind off of things. She does make a mental note to pick up a few kebabs when she's in the marketplace. And a sweet tea to wash it down with. While the Factions cafeteria did have great food, it still didn't beat some of the street vendors or restaurants around here.

"It was.. interesting. I almost expect for a screen to tell me that I finished the mission."

I answered, kind of relaxed. it's not like the mission was actually difficult or dangerous.

I mean, the slimes didn't even reach near me, so...

The next morning, Miyarkus is already on watch, awake and ready to find a job to take. By "on watch", this means that Bobert's Bakery now has a skeleton as usual. Also, by awake, this means that he groggily gets something to fix him up. He's not a coffee or energy drink kind of guy, though. At any rate, he can easily not notice any alert of help on his Z-Watch. If it wasn't for last evening, he wouldn't have tried to use an alarm.

The evening before...

"... now that's a lot of carbonara. You sure about that?" Miyarkus said.

The pasta joint some ways around Derika was something Ayane and Miyarkus found while discovering new areas. While he would easily forget where these were since he doesn't travel often, this pasta place might be just something he might go to. Probably.

Apparently, there was currently a pasta special, which is more of a challenge. Choose your favorite pasta and they'll give you about 1/3 a kilo of said pasta, finish it within twenty minutes, and you can only bring one friend to finish it with you. Ayane and the cook had a thorough 'discussion' about whether Miyarkus counts as a third person or second. Actually, it's an argument. In the end, the cook found it fair to allow Miyarkus to join along with Ayane's two bodies, since were talking about two small girls, and one skeleton who the cook assumed couldn't eat a lot, anyway.

Oh how he underestimated them.

Ayane and Miyarkus didn't get sick of the pasta, nor burst due to being bloated. They had just the right amount of stomach to consume it all. It helps that the cheese was perfect, the noodles slick, and the spices flavorful. In the end, the meal is now free, and the reward they got was a discount on all future purchases in the pasta joint. For just one evening, Ayane and Miyarkus became the local pasta heroes.

-*-*-*-
"Here, Oscar-- ow."

Oscar, instead of perching on Miyarkus' forearm, scratched it with it's claws like a flying bird. The feline was on a skyscraper. Apparently, among this onlookers of a dozen giften citizens, only Miyarkus had the appropriate gift to bring it down. Still, it's like trying to peel year-old gum under a desk. It completely denies the rescuer that is Miyarkus' floating right arm.

Miyarkus' arm fell like a meteor, although it's impact on Miyarkus' skull doesn't match. The bystanders all brainstormed of an idea.

"Oh, I know; here, hold this mister." the little owner of Oscar said, and handed Miyarkus tiny, fish-shaped biscuits. The kid says they're cat food. After holding it tightly in his palm, his right arm floats upwards again and reaches the cat. This time, the pounces on his arm and balances perfectly whilst eating the cat food. Miyarkus gently floats the arm fifty feet away from him downwards, and hands the cat to the kid. Everyone claps in applause on Miyarkus' presentation.

"Thank you, mister! I don't have anything, though." The kid said. By this time, the crowd has dispersed to return to their business.

"No sweat, kid. I'll be fine." Miyarkus said, and also leaves the scene, leaving the kid to tend with their orange cat, Oscar. After turning a few blocks a few minutes later, he is in front of the faction buildings. The sun has only broken through the horizon for just one hour. Y'now, seven o'clock.

@431101134 (I think this is a fine start.)

Ayane Katou-

After heading to the Mental faction building from the absolutely amazing pasta contest-we didn't even have to pay and we got a discount for future visits!-I got into my new home. Mar walked me home and we decided to meet in front of the faction buildings the next day, if not there then Bobert's Bread. My new place wasn't too big, but it wasn't too small either. Just the perfect size for me. And two beds! Very comfy! Ah, I love my new place.

Ah, right, anyway, I watched the video on the Z-Watch that showed me how to use it and then I took a shower. Another plus of having two bodies: You could wash your own back. Then I slept in the two pair's of pj's there-I guess they came with the place-which I was greateful for, as I didn't bring any clothes. The next morning I got food from the faction buildings food place, free food is amazing. I learned about the point system thingy, too. Helpful, that.

Anyway, now I need to do some hero stuff, so I could get money and points, buy some clothes and other things. All is going great. I had to use the clothes I used yesterday-but I got them washed, so all was good-and I went to the plaza in front of the main faction building. Ah-there was Mar! Although I live in a building of people, Mar is the only person I really know. Besides Esther, that is, I guess.

"Hey, Mar! How are you?" I ask him in greeting, only through Ayane, though. I still keep up the two person facade in public. I mean, I kinda do. I speak to Mar with 'I' and stuff. I did need to tell the chef about my gift for the pasta contest... so maybe I shouldn't... eh, whatever. It doesn't really matter anyway. Looking at my watch I see it's almost 8 am. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting long..." I say through Aya, we did decide to meet in the morning, but we didn't really specify when in the morning.

Status: Dis place is pretty strange, eh?

It's a strange feeling being booted off a boat. A sensation that Markus never got to feel as he was asleep as he lost all of his belonging besides the money in his wallet and papers which he kept in a knapsack that he used as an impromptu pillow. as he was tossed onto dry land. With his Gift it wasn't difficult to stow away as with some luck he swapped into the cargo after getting close enough. In terms of his mood, he wasn't beaten down in the slightest! Well, maybe a tad since he did lose his cards. And generally all of his belongings.

Stepping out of the checkpoint, stretching momentarily giving a soft grunt as Markus closed his eyes. Bringing his arms down he pushed up his glasses and looked around the place he'd be residing for the next... while. Markus didn't know how long he'd stay here but for now, he needed to find a place to stay. ...Though he hadn't the slightest clue where to start. When in doubt the first thing to do is ask someone right?

Walking around and asking about, he was directed into the Faction Recruitment Building, though he didn't know as much as he stepped in, blinking at the higher concentration of the more fantastical sorts. Just like him. Glancing over at the shortest line, Markus made a beeline for it; early bird get's the worm, it'd be. Stepping up behind the white haired girl and wondered what sorta job would take in some girl with a sword. He blinked as he also caught the tail end of her question.

" hmm hello miss how do I join a faction ...do I need papers or anything like that "

"Youse don't got your immigration papers?" Markus blurted from behind her, blinking but rolling with it. Meeting new people was always an experience right? Plus, he ought to since he'd probably be here for a while.

Lynx jumped from the sudden blurt from Markus. " immigration papers. ..I don't believe I have any of those on me at the moment .." she said as she turned around to face him.

" hi I'm lynx. .." she said holding out her hand to him then she smiled " my gift is the ability to control shadows and create a shadow creature" she said as she looked at him " so what's your gift"

Alice figures that Vix must be off doing her own thing, but for now Alice wanted food. She goes to the Faction cafeteria and spies someone she hasn't seen before--a male with messy gray hair. Alice walks up to them and introduces herself, "Hi, I'm Alice! I'm part of the Elemental Faction and I can create wings!"

Lysander was surprised at the sudden appearance of a girl with long dark hair, but was interested by what she said. "You can make wings? So, like you can fly whenever you want? That must be great. I can think of plenty of times that would come in handy." He said with a smile.

"My name is Lysander. I just finished my assessment." He held up his wrist to show his newly acquired Z-Watch. "I guess I'm headed for the elementalists too, based on my gift." He held up his hands and let a spark of electricity flicker between his fingers.

"Anyway, I haven't eaten since I got here and I'm absolutely starving. Whats good around here?"

No papers? That'd be a bit problematic but... As she introduced herself he took her hand and shook it.

"Nuffin' much ta be honest wi'cha, I can just swap one thing with another." Markus started as he shrugged, "And nice to meet ya, name's Markus." With a grin he introduced himself to the girl.

"Now I'm thinking dat youse can still get through the process, though don't be taking my word."

Ayane Katou -

Huh? I mean, walking over to Mar, who was sitting on a bench, he doesn’t say anything. Well, there’s a cloth covering his face… Uh… okay.

“Mar? You there?” I ask, through both bodies. I go and tentatively sit next to him on either side, should I touch him? What if he’s actually dead or something? Or…asleep. Yeah, that makes more sense. ‘Cause he doesn’t have eyelids, he covered his face with a cloth…. Okay then.

I’m just gonna nudge him. Or poke him, that’s cool too. I wonder what bone feels like anyway… Poking his shoulder and face-just a light little tap-as I didn’t know where the holes are, and-He jumps up! And attacks, what?! Mar jumps, higher than me if I was standing, and lands in front of me. He takes his scythe out with both hands, and swings it around, almost getting me!

“GAH, THE ALIENS BLINDED ME, BUT I CAN STILL KICK BUTT.” Mar yelled, moving the scythe around, not actually hitting anything, thankfully. People were looking at us weird, then looked around suspiciously. Like they believed there were aliens! What a strange place. With all the movement, the cloth on his face falls. Then he realizes he’s awake-not being blinded and attacked by aliens-and shades his eyes with his hands, looking around ‘till he saw me.

“Oh, Ayane, you’re there. Mornin’.” Mar said to me with a wave, putting his hand up to his jaw, as if to yawn. What. You’re not gonna act like anything just happened? Maybe he thought it was a dream… or something. Well, okay. Not much I can do about that… I guess I’ll just… go with it. The people around here seemed to do that… so I guess I can too.

“Uh, hey Mar. Good morning…” I say through Ayane, who was the farthest away from him, ready to hide behind the bench. Now that I think about it, this whole thing is comical. Finally relaxing, I go and sit on the bench, both of me. Mar ends up sitting next to me and then we just sit there.

“Uh.. So. What are we gonna do today? Eat some pasta? Save someone?” I ask through Aya, seeing as she was closer to him. I wouldn’t mind eating more pasta, that was fun. And I wouldn’t mind saving someone-or getting money, either.

“Well, I think the first order of business is to go eat something. Then we scour for something to do later.” Mar said. Should I tell him I already ate? Hmm… I guess I will, but I’m not gonna decline an offer for food.

“Where should we go? Oh, and I already ate some, so I won’t need anything big,” I tell him through Aya. We could go to Bobert’s Bread, I guess… Or we could go see if that new cafe was open or something… I’m not sure where else. Though, we did spot some places earlier that Mar pointed out. Them again M-

*Beep*

What was that? It was the watch… I thought it wasn’t supposed to ‘beep.’ Well, only for time sensitive quests or alerts from the head guys of the factions… Wait. Looking at my watch-as does Mar-I see it’s an urgent request.

*Exterminate the Alots

Description: It is suspected that a certain Physical Faction member has allowed a race of experimental animals out. They have infested the lobby of the Mental Faction and need to be removed.

Party Limit: 2

Reward: $600 or 60 points*

Whoa! In the Mental Faction lobby! I didn’t go through there because I got lost. Looking to Mar, I see he finished reading the request too. Should we accept it?

“Hey Mar, should we do this? Also, what’s an ‘Alot’?” I asked through Ayane, standing with both bodies, getting ready to go. This could be fun, and I could either get points or money! I wonder which I could use more efficiently… Then again, it all depends if we take this on. Huh, I wonder when I started thinking as us as a team. I’d like that, we practically are, anyway.

“Well, there goes my plans for breakfast… oh, yeah, I think we should. I mean, we are just outside of said building anyway. The Alot? They’re very hairy beasts. True to their name, their as common as dogs, sadly. They do nothing but vandalize and break my back.” Mar said. Break his back? Ahaha, I guess dogs like bones! That’s hilarious, but I wonder why they’re called that, and how they’re different then dogs. But why would he want to go near a bunch of dogs that want to eat him?

“Also, don’t look at me. I wouldn’t go near them at all, let alone release them. I hate them. I know a few who want to keep them like pets, but they’re classified as ‘A lot of danger’ for a reason, if not for the sake of the pun...” Mar says, standing too. I get the pun. Whoever named them sure got a kick out of it.

“Alright? Let’s do this then!” I say as we start to walk to the Mental Faction building. So, weird dog things, and we’ve got to… get rid of them? Like, kill them? Uh… What if we just contain them, like in a room or something? I wouldn’t want to just kill a bunch of animals...

“I’ll accept the request,” Mar says as he fiddles with his watch. After a moment-

*Beep*

I look at my watch and see what it says under the request:

*Markus and Ayane on the scene, the request is ours and for the taking*

I almost giggle. Almost.

“Alright, we should hurry and go now. Anyway, you’re in the Mental faction, right? How did you not see them?” Mar asked, oh yeah. I should probably tell him. Oh man, today starts out just great, good stuff happening and Mar’s funny awakening, and now we’ve got to… get rid of a bunch of animals. Sigh...

“Yeah, I got a little lost, but I made it out of a side entrance or something. I didn’t go through the lobby this morning,” I say as explanation. Jeez, I didn’t want to tell him ‘cause I was embarrassed. He probably wouldn’t really care, anyway, with the chill guy the way he was. And if he wasn’t embarrassed about how he woke up, then I’m sure me getting a little lost in a new surrounding wouldn’t faze him.

We reach the entrance to the Mental Faction building, and sure enough the lobby was filled wilt Alots. Oh. So that’s what the lobby looks like. I was kinda wondering… The Alot things ripped up the seats, made the floor all dirty, and messed up the front desk. They completely trashed the place! The Alots were definitely running rampant. It’s a good thing we’re here to quickly remedy the situation ASAP.

“... I may have some ideas on how we can handle them. I think it’s best we get these beasts a much better place to get to. Genocide just doesn’t stick with me. Y’know I hate them and all, but that just leaves a bitter taste in my tongue, if I had one. Anyway, containing them, but how...” Mar said, and began to think… I think, I couldn’t really tell. The noise the Alots were making by shattering the glass and scratching up the floors, let alone bark their weird bark, must have made it hard to think, if he was thinking, that is. I’m glad he shares my thoughts on killing them all, though.

Maybe I should scout for a room or something. Or maybe I could get someone to help us. Sending Ayane out, I leave Aya with Mar to think up ideas. Meanwhile, Ayane was searching the building. Oh? There’s a large room with minimal things in it! Perfect!

“I have an idea!” I say with Aya as Ayane works on opening the large, heavy doors. “I sent one of my bodies to look for a room to put them in, and I found one! But how are we gonna get them there….” Maybe we could find dog food or something? Or maybe… a.. “Markus! You’re made of bone, they will follow you! Good thing the room I found is on the first floor. It should be down that hallway, and take the second right! You’ll see some doors open there, that’s the room!” Yes! That’s a good plan… What should I do? I’m not made of bone...

I pointed at the hallway he should go down after getting the Alot’s attention, but Mar was looking around. Huh, maybe he didn’t notice when I sent Ayane off. I should probably tell him next time. Oh no! An Alot left the building! I know what I’m gonna do, I’ll get the stragglers and the one’s that Mar can’t lure.

“... I don’t like this… but… fine! Let’s do that!” Mar says bluntly, he then adjusts his robe to show his bone arms. He was muttering to himself about the room. ‘Meditation room’ is what I hear from him. Oh, maybe it was one of those. I guess people need to meditate in the Mental Faction. I should have thought of that! It’s almost obvious.

“Okay, I’ll take the ones that don’t follow you and that one that went outside, you will have one of my bodies to work with. Ahaha, here we go!” I say, grabbing some of the Alot’s attention, but it immediately went to Mar and his bone arms.

Mar nods and runs further into the lobby, passes through the horde of Alots and waves his arms around to catch the group of Alot’s attention. They quickly follow, not ones to pass up bone, of all things. I see him running to Ayane, who was motioning to the door he should go through. He runs straight in, and the Alots follows, ignoring everything else as they scratch the walls and dirty the floor more. A dozen or so enter with Mar.

Then we both realize how they didn’t plan on getting Mar out of the room full of Alots out to eat him. Should I close the doors with him still in there? Well, they are heavy, by the time they’re about to close I’m sure Mar will get out. Going through the process of closing the doors, Mar distracts them so they can’t leave-let alone eat him. Just as I’m about to close the door Mar steps out. I quickly lock it and look over Mar who sat and leaned against the doors-which were currently being banged on by Alot’s. His arm is broken, but everything else seems okay. Phew. Not that a broken arm is a good thing.

Me, out of breath and concentrating on my other body, didn’t really have the energy to ask if he was okay. But that was a pointless question, of course he isn’t ‘okay.’ HIs arm is broken for goodness sakes! I hope he’s got special healing abilities with that body of his. Or anything, really, to have his arm healed faster. I wonder if this place has a hospital of people gifted with healing… That would be cool.

“I guess that took… a lot out of me!” Mar said. Ah, okay. I go and sit next to him, my breath regaining to give a short ‘ha.’ Jeez! How heavy were these doors, really? Well, I guess if Mar can joke he’s okay. Like in the movies or whatever.

Meanwhile, Ayane’s other body-

Aya’s with Mar by the door, so Ayane is good going after the other Alots. I count three. One’s outside and the other two are still in the lobby, they didn’t chase after Mar. I think it was because they are fighting each other or something. Okay. Aright. I can do this. How am I going to do this? It’s not like my gift can do anything… can it? Could I… sing with the intent to… bring them inside? I don’t think so… I can only control the emotions.

What if I sang with the intent for them to… Be kind? Angry? Should I try to get them to follow me? I’m not as fast as Mar, though. Plus he’s made of bones! Much more lighter than I am. But… Hmm. I guess I could try to convince them to be kind. Obedient. Then I’ll have them come inside. Yeah! It… should work. I have to wait a second for Ayane to catch her breath, after all, the singing only works with us both singing. I hope it works with the target not hearing both.

I start to sing then, walking outside to see the Alot destroying a bush. I focus on the two fighting each other inside too. I haven’t had a lot-a lot-of practice with multiple people, but these are dogs, right? They’re brains are smaller or something, yeah? I sure hope so.

C’mon, be kind, loose your will to fight, be happy, content. I approach the Alot who stopped destroying the bush, but now sniffed it. As I got closer it’s head perked up at me and came over to me to sniff me instead. Ah, okay. It’s working. Cool. I lead the Alot-who is a lot like a dog-inside and it follows. Good Alot.

I approach the other two who seemed to be ready to follow me too. Yes! Yes, I can do this. I lead the other two, who came to sniff me too, to the place where Mar was with Aya. They follow. I quickly walk as I see I am getting tired. Yeah, using my powers for so long and controlling three Alots, might be a lot, almost too much.

When I see them down the hallway I begin to sense the other Alots too. Maybe I could make them all pass out, so Mar and I can put them in the room too. Reaching out to the other twelve Alot’s I sing with the intent for them to become tired, to sleep. Then it slowly works, who knew I could control 15 minds! That’s so… cool… and I might have… pushed it a little.

Ha, I guess I’m going to pass out too. Yay.

“Open the door,” I have Aya say-more like mumble-to Mar, who she was right next to. Hopefully this will show him they’re all… passed out… when I pass out too… Then he can... put the other... Alots in there... too.

Yay... First official... hero mission… done!

Lynx rubbed her chin before looking down " I guess somehow I might be able to ...I just hope maybe this lady would respond to me " she said before looking at the desk and pressing the bell again waiting for a receptionist

Lynx sighed " wait swap what." She asked rubbing her hair as she looked at him " explain please what your power goes please Markus "

"Well, da ding is it's just what I said." Though to prove his point he pulled out a penny and a quarter. Holding both up, quarter in his left hand, and penny in his right, he spoke, "So, I have a quarter and a penny side by each, eh?" Putting them into his palms they suddenly blur and switch, the quarter laid in his right now, and the penny? The right hand.

"Like dat."

After hearing the winged girl’s answer, Yura’s eyes were practically sparkling. What a stroke of luck, to be provided with free food and housing. ‘Neato. I missed my husbandos.’ She thought, referring to a comfy couch and good internet. She dragged her feet lazily scampered off merrily to the factions building. Had she heard the ‘hero’ part, she may have been less inclined. She wasn’t the hero Derika needed, nor was she the hero it deserved.

Lexa Gilliam

"Um... yep, that's what I do." Lexa was somewhat taken aback by the barrage of questions that Abbey had thrown at her. It just wasn't something she was used to. The last question was something she had to think about for a moment. "Hmm... I've never really considered it before. I suppose they do taste different, otherwise I wouldn't like different things on different days." She sat back down, seeing this conversation might last a little longer that she'd been expecting.

Abbey

Abbey just nods as Lexa responds, her mind already considering the implications. She's about to ask Lexa even more when the questions are turned around on her? Abbey didn't think her Gift was anything special at all--really, a normal person could do what she did with a little more time and effort. "I'm hardly even Gifted really." She remarks ruefully. "I'm good at working with machines and bodies and connecting the two. And I don't have a special power to make it happen, it's all tools and hard work. Since I don't have any tools or the money to buy them, I can't even use my Gift..." She shrugs self-deprecatingly. "Some Gift, huh?"

Dan Ryder (and Lacey Banks)

Lacey casually explained her Gift to Dan as they slowly made their way up the queue. He found it quite interesting, to say the least, and was mesmerised by the shining balls of light she created when she gave him a demonstration, making them hover effortlessly over his head. He wished he had a Gift that wasn't so... well, terrible.

After a long wait, they finally made it to the receptionist's desk. Lacey set down down on the smooth surface, and began eagerly chatting to the receptionist. She seemed excited to be a part of all this, although she did complain quite excessively about the long wait. Soon enough, after presenting the few papers she had with her, she was cleared for immigration and given the set of times she'd expected. She twirled the ID card around in her hand, observing it happily. And then she turned on heel, and gleefully bounded down the adjoining corridor to take her Faction test.

Dan just stared blankly in her direction as she left. Had she just... forgotten about him? She hadn't even mentioned his presence to the receptionist...

Sure enough, the receptionist, apparently satisfied her job was done, had called forwards the next person in the queue.

Time passed. With each minute that passed, Dan became more and more nervous. Lacey was coming back, right? He wasn't so sure anymore. The way she hadn't even glanced at him suggested otherwise.

And of course, things got worse.

He looked up to see the receptionist looking straight at him. For one wonderful, hopeful moment, he thought he'd gotten lucky once again, and that he'd been rediscovered quickly enough to prevent any harm coming to him in the meantime. That assumption was instantly crushed as the receptionist's mouth dropped in disgust.

Oh no.

There was nothing he could do as a finger came flying at him, moving at blinding speed at his scale. Thankfully, it wasn't moving to flatten him, the hand instead shifting into a position to flick him away. Which is exactly what happened - he was sent flying through the air, a large bruise on his chest.

He landed on the hard floor of the Faction building, bumping his head quite hard. Dazed, he looked around the room, trying desperately to get his bearings. From here, he could see a man and a woman with a sword talking to each other, presumably waiting for something. Behind him, he heard the door to building open, as a younger girl entered, potentially quite dangerously close to him.

Once again, he was lost.

"Abbey....the most advance robot of the 21st century is the Atlas, that might be able to serve as a search and rescue 'bot down the line. Maybe. If the tech pans out. And meanwhile here you are, what? 15? 16? years of age with a fully functional cybernetic dog that looks like it came straight out of a cyberpunk videogame. I don't know how you stack up to other against other genius-gifted out there, but I'm pretty sure you left 'normal people' in the dust a while back. Maybe they could do what you do with a 'little more time and effort'. Sure, as long as a 'little more time' translates to decades.

And so what if you need tools and a budget to really get going? How is that any different from that any other scientist or engineer? Unless there's a gifted out there that not only has super-science as a gift but also matter creation, I'm pretty sure that's a shared limitation. With your talents I'm pretty sure you'll get job offers soon enough."

Realizing I was getting somewhat heated about the entire thing, I bring the volume of my voice down and place what I hope is a reassuring hand on the young girl's shoulder. "There was a gifted in my hometown, well...city, that had the unfortunate gift of spontaneously creating cake whenever he got nervous. Still pushed past the laughter and became a firefighter and gave his life in the line of duty. My point is, our gifts don't have to define us nor are they what make us great. Nor does being 'great' mean being a good person either."

By and large I was straight up blabbering and I knew it, but ever since I was a kid I never liked seeing other people being down. Hopefully I didn't make the situation worse this time. Abbey seemed like good people and I didn't want to see good people give in to despair like I have.

Lexa Gilliam

Lexa munched on the remains of her spoon silently as Ayesha lectured Abbey, deliberately deciding not to speak. In truth, she agreed with her - she'd much rather have those kind of brains than all the strength she had right now. All she could create was fear and chaos - it wasn't like her legacy could ever be long-lasting in a good way. Of course, she'd never admit any of that to these people who she'd just met.

Not wanting to get involved - partially out of reluctance to get barraged with questions again - she instead chose to try and strike up a conversation with Vivian again.

"So where are you staying then? With the immigration department, or...?"

[Vivian]

Vivian is about to say how Abbey is short-selling herself given the existence of Judas. Besides, it sounds a lot more interesting and versatile than growing plants.

Before Vivian can utter a single word, Ayesha passionately gives a speech saying exactly how amazing Abbey's Gift is.

Turning to Lexa while keeping one ear on the other conversation, she answers, "You know how I mentioned I was going to be a farmer earlier? I work for the Factions on a farm. I'm not a member, but I have my own place at least."

Once Ayesha's lecture is over, Vivian almost shyly suggests, "If it's money and tools you need, I have a farm I could use help with. I'm certain my Gift will make a profit but I simply can't operate a farm on my own. If you want, I can hire you, Abbey. Same offer goes to you, Lexa. You'd have to stay at the DoI for a bit while I get housing set up though."

[Haku]

Haku murmurs an acknowledgement to Alex's words, "It was nice meeting you today though. And you as well, Vix."

Although Haku has been aware of the slime girl's existence--due to a certain crazy winged Elemental Faction officer (she wrinkles her nose at the thought of Alice), this is the first time that they've worked together. Vix is significantly more tolerable than Alice. While Alice...made Haku want to slap her. She was exceedingly childish and often pulled off antics that caused trouble for people. It's really a wonder that she even got some sort of position in the Factions. But, Haku admits grudgingly, Alice is just as capable if not more capable than Haku at combat.

Haku realizes she's getting unnecessarily emotional over this and sweeps aside these thoughts. Forcing herself back into the present, Haku states lightly, "I'm going to Vilks Silks to buy some new clothes once we head back to the city. If you want to join, feel free I guess."

Abbey

Abbey giggles to herself after Ayesha, Lexa, Vivian finish. "Uhmm, Judas isn't actually a robot. He looks like one since I've augmented most of his skin, but he's definitely still a dog underneath." She turns to Vivian. "And I think I'll take you up on that, Vivian. There isn't much I can do that doesn't involve selling my ideas to other people, and I can stay at Faction housing, so I already have somewhere to stay."

"Huh... lucky you. First day, and you've got your own place already."

Lexa was taken back by Vivian's offer. Her immediate gut instinct was to reject it entirely - working on a farm? It hardly seemed exciting. Middle of nowhere, seeing the same faces every day... it was a far cry from the city life she was used.

But the more she thought about it, the more it actually started to appeal to her. Away from the hustle and bustle of the populated world, she might actually into a lot less trouble. And even if she did, it wasn't like there were many people who could get hurt. Perhaps the quiet, calm life was something she needed right now. Besides - it she didn't like it, it wasn't like there was anything anyone could do to stop her leaving, as far as she knew.

It was perhaps a full minute before she replied. "Y'know what? I think I'll take you up on that."

"Yeah," Vivian runs her hand through her hair, "I guess being able to help feed people is pretty valuable."

Getting two back-to-back positive responses made Vivian elated though.

"Great! Ayesha is also going to be helping me so that makes the four of us! We can get started today actually. I need help tilling and planting and fertilizing," Vivian babbles excitedly, "Once we're all done eating, we can all go to the farm to check things out."

Lynx noticed another girl walk into the faction building , she had a slight attraction to her which made her want to go meet her but then the receptionist called her for her turn to register into the faction

The lady smiled at her " hello miss would you like to join a faction today " ...lynx replied with a smart mouth reply " well I didn't just stand in this line to say no..but yes what do I need " she asked . The lady began telling her that she needed papers but lynx stopped her and told her she didn't have papers so she handed her a packet and told her to fill this out and come back later

Alexander Cyphre

"Well, I would like to see it. At least I will know where to go to buy new clothes. Is it expensive?"

The road we were walking was relaxing. The nature around us made an interesting contrast with the busy streets of Brinkhaven and it sorts of made me less tense. I idly wondered what other kind of creature were in the woods: dragons, maybe? I hope not giant spiders or insects. I hate those. Or giant wasps.

This said, I can safely say that I wouldn't dislike to see a dragon. Or a chimera. Maybe a werewolf?

"Now that I think about it, what other kind of creature are out here?"
