Glad to make your week, Purr Purr :)

As for things doing, it's just been an eventful year. Had pneumonia, spent $35,000 having the foundation of my house lifted and shortly thereafter a pipe broke in my radiant heating under the floor and flooded everything. So now I don't have a kitchen at all (everything was torn out to dry out the floor) and I'm struggling daily with the claim rep and adjustor and contractors to get repairs going on this place so I can have a kitchen someday in the future...

Needless to say, it's been eventful.

As for the game, I'm reading up into the month of May. If/when I get current and you want an extra player joining in, happy to. But I entirely understand if things have moved beyond that. Either way, this is the most enjoyable game to read I've seen on RpNation so keep up the excellent work, all of you. :)

Pips, not only are you most welcome to hop right in, you have terrific timing! I will put why below in a spoiler in case you would rather read through June and July and find out the long way. =)

In a greenhouse in that quiet town of Milton, a certain friendly and curious insectoid just made contact with the T.A.S.C. branch of the Wild Cards (the players) with Neqel's safety in mind. Toph has Neqel's unconscious body literally in the Palm of her Ajax!

I was in the process of having Neqel shipped out on a medevac back to Eglin. I was going to do so in the very next scene - then you returned! =)

I am more comfortable having Neqel stay with the Wild Cards, unconscious and in the backseat of a Veritech, until you are ready to play again.

Maybe that will take your mind off of your kitchen troubles for a while? How does that hit you? =)

Well, I wouldn't call my utter absence for months terrific but I appreciate the sentiment. :)

Happy to have Neqel stay with the Wild Cards, if it's convenient for you. I can play her for that matter, I just haven't had time yet to read through all the backlog posts on what's been happening. You guys are prolific writers! One of you a bit more than the others (and you know who you are ;) ). Whatever makes for good story and isn't disruptive.

That's not what I mean to say, Pips. It is not your absence I'm calling terrific but the timing of your return. =)

If you had, say, returned a week from today, you may well have found your character completely out of play. Instead, she is a relatively safe position where you can resume playing her at your leisure.

Because of your timing, I don't have to pull Neqel out of Eglin ASC base and create some strange reason why she would team up with the Wild Cards all to put her back in play - Neqel has effectively just been rescued by them!

So from a Game Master's point of view, your timing really is terrific!

Put another way, the story benefits from your return at this time. =)

I can do that! May I recommend re-reading through Neqel's Prologue? I think I'll add one more post there and Neqel will then wake when you give the word. Sounds like you're ready to play again? =)

Epiphany Epiphany Prologue post finished. Neqel's "24 Hours Ago" story is complete (unless you want to add anything to it; you are welcome to). =)

I hope to post tomorrow. Have fun and stay safe, folks! =)

Psychie Psychie Epiphany Epiphany I don't mind you going for that but, given that you're attempting to alter an NPC, I'm going to need some details. Would you mind putting your heads together to answer the following?

Edit: If instead you would rather me provide the answers, I can do that too. I just wanted to give the two of you the first crack at bat. =)

1. Where did Neqel and Zyorna know each other? From the ASC? From being under Lisara's command? Neqel's church? Somewhere else? Keep in mind, in my game, Azonia and Miriya never worked under Lord Breetai but under Lisara.

2. How long did they know each other (roughly)?

3. What was their relationship? Were they agreeable? Adversarial? Neutral? A little of all three?

4. Does Neqel know that Zyorna is no longer in Earth? Does Neqel know about Toph? Hiroshi? Hiroshi's death? Hiroshi's relationship with Prof. Stein?

5. Did Zyorna know about Richard? Neqel's marriage? Their half-human children? What of Richard's family and the situation Neqel is now in with them?

6. One more for Epiphany - I take it you are ready to play in the main story?

I realize that this is no small amount of questions; it is for the sake of the story that I ask. But again, I can do this if you don't want to.

Any questions? =)

Obviously, I don't want to make any unilateral decisions, especially since we are dealing with a PC in the group. But, here are some of my thoughts...

1. I would say that the two ladies would have met in the service of Lisara, since Zyorna has gone into the RDF's air force to fly Valkyries then transferred to the UEEF to fly Alphas on the way to Tyrol and has not been in the ASC at all, and not in the hover tank program either.

2. Zyorna was a FPA and Fighter Pod pilot. Not in the same level of skill as the famous pilot Myria, she still managed to hold her own in a fight. What was Neqel doing for the Meltrandi war machine?

3. Since Toph is going to be looking up to Neqel as family, I would say that the two Maltrandi would be friendly with one another, and the two families would know one another.

4. Expanding off of 4, I would say that they know that Zyorna is not on Earth anymore, and that Neqel would also be aware of Hiroshi's death in the Control Zone. The two ladies would have gone to each other for emotional support, and Zyorna would hope to have Neqel's help and advice in raising Toph as a single parent, since Neqel has many kids of her own. On the flip side of that, Zyorna would also be there for Neqel when her own husband died (assuming that she was still on Earth and not heading out to confront the Robotech Masters in the UEEF; don't know how the timeline looks there).

5. As mentioned in 4, I would suggest that Zyorna would be aware of Neqel's marriage and, assuming that she was still on Earth at the time of his death, would be a friendly shoulder to lean on when Richard died.

All of this is just a suggestion depending on what Epiphany Epiphany wants to input, and just how long Zyorna would be on Earth.

Thank you, Psychie! This is just the kind of data I am looking for. However, as the Game Master of the story, I have to ask for clarification concerning your reply on #2 - perhaps you mean "Meltrandi" war machine? In my game, the Meltrandi were doing all that they could to destroy the Zentraedi war machine. =)

Ah, yes, indeed. I'm still getting used to the Zentraedi/Meltrandi split.

Edited my post for accuracy.

Thanks again! My apologies for any confusion. =)

Awesome thoughts. Here's my remarks.

1. I would say that the two ladies would have met in the service of Lisara, since Zyorna has gone into the RDF's air force to fly Valkyries then transferred to the UEEF to fly Alphas on the way to Tyrol and has not been in the ASC at all, and not in the hover tank program either.

Agreed. Seems Zyorna stayed with the military program, where Neqel never set foot back in a mecha after the original disarmament at the end of the First Robotech War (in the six-twelve month period where Meltrandi were being assessed for safety/security, Neqel had already met Richard and by the time the Meltrandi were allowed back in the cockpit, she was completely in love with Richard and well on their way to starting a family.

2. Zyorna was a FPA and Fighter Pod pilot. Not in the same level of skill as the famous pilot Myria, she still managed to hold her own in a fight. What was Neqel doing for the Zentraedi war machine?

Neqel was also a pilot. Though her missions tended to involve infiltration/assault/asymmetrical warfare over straight flying. Rather than partners (or rivals), I imagine they shared a number of joint complimentary missions with Zyorna escorting in Neqel's unit and providing cover fire/air support while Neqel went to work sabotaging enemy power systems and blowing up specific strategic military targets.

Oh, I don't know how old Zyorna was but Neqel was in her 30s or so when the First Robotech War happened, so I imagine they could have known each other for decades.

3. Since Toph is going to be looking up to Neqel as family, I would say that the two Maltrandi would be friendly with one another, and the two families would know one another.

And agreed! The two women may have shared an original friendly and respectful disinterest, as both operated in different theaters of war. But both were part of the same surrender. Both experienced the chaos and confusion of being attracted to a Micronian. And both had a family from the result. In particular, I imagine Neqel looked to Zyorna for a lot of advice initially since the other Meltrandi had a head start on her in having a family (given Toph's a few years older than Neqel's oldest). And likewise, Zyorna may have looked to Neqel for a different kind of advice, given Neqel went the full housewife route (particularly by the time she had her second child) and so was able to offer her experience/impressions on Micronian culture Zyorna hadn't come into contact with yet.

Exactly. The ladies were mutual strangers in a strange land, able to share experience, surprise and discomfort with their adoptive new alien homeland. I think that Zyorna was already gone by the time Richard died, though, since he passed away three years ago. But he may have had cancer by the time she left so the writing was on the wall. Most certainly, Neqel would have helped Zyorna and had much affection for Toph, at least when their postings were near enough for them to see much of each other.

That said, I don't know if the Professor really came up. In part because at least implicitly I've left room for you, Purr Purr to have Richard having been part of the Project all along, with Neqel in the dark on the details. So it's up to you if she ever met the Professor or had any awareness of him. I've errored on a default of 'no' since it seemed safest but it's up to you.

5. As mentioned in 4, I would suggest that Zyorna would be aware of Neqel's marriage and, assuming that she was still on Earth at the time of his death, would be a friendly shoulder to lean on when Richard died.

Certainly Zyorna would have known Neqel's husband and her three children. Probably not so much about Richard's family though, unless Zyorna also dealt with some prejudice from in-laws and it was something they could share and commiserate about. While Richard was alive, Neqel's in-laws were seen by her as hard-to-impress superior officers that she had to surprise and delight. The depth of their prejudice largely took her by surprise and was triggered by the notion of their grandchildren being left in the sole custody of an alien, something that wasn't as much of an issue while Richard was alive. Prejudiced or not, both of Richard's parents were well aware of how starry-eyed Neqel was with her husband and that she followed his direction, a comfort for them that vanished once he was gone.

Also, yep! Ready for play!

Psychie Psychie Also, needless to say, I'm happy to go with whatever you're comfortable with. You're the established player/character here. Arguably, Neqel knew Toph's mother better than she knew Toph. So I'll defer to you on how much or how little contact they had, what it was like and so on. All I can say is that for Neqel's part, she has an almost singleminded fierce affection for half-Meltrandi children as only a Meltrandi can have (equal parts of "Military assets that need to be trained for eventual deployment" and "You make my feelings have feelings, so adorable, I love you forever!"). And that if they had much contact when Toph was young, Neqel chiefly makes an impression as an incredible baker who spoils children with cookies, brownies and sugary confections of all kinds.

Sherwood, I'll give you Mario's results tomorrow. I've run out of time for tonight. Sorry for the cliffhanger but I hope you enjoyed the music! Ha ha ha! =)

The music choice? Baaaaad Dannigan! Bad!

Don't forget that I'm going to be spending a Action Point to make the saving throw (I hope!) against the pain.
