Mission Files - OOC Talk

Alrighty - two short questions to those more familiar with the rules: Can Commune with Spirits theoretically allow to converse with the souls of people who have died recently? Or is the soul (if one exists) immediately gone? And does using psi-powers make it more likely to be detected by someone watching out for that, i.e. is the risk of being detected different whether I'm actively using my powers or not?

I'd like to find out more to answer Ozugs question, so I'm considering to use either Clairvoyance or Commune with spirits - I'm just wondering if that would endanger us, and if the latter option makes any sense. Obviously, I can always try and hope for some random spirit of the land to be present and interested in talking, just wondering if that's the best I can ever hope for.

@Silanon Based on the spell description, it looks like talking to ghosts is not only possible but the usual application of the spell.  Go nuts.

I agree with Epiphany in that it sounds like you can speak with the spirits of the recently departed, but it doesn't guarantee that they will be helpful or receptive to your questioning.

For the detection issue, if you use a power such as See Aura, it tells you that a person is psi capable, but doesn't tell you what powers or how powerful the psychic is.

If you want to use either power, you can do so with the high probability that you will not be detected by anyone capable of sensing it.  But, the longer you linger in place, the more likely that you'll have company from someone out there that is being drawn to the smoke the same way you guys were.

@Epiphany You¨'re level 2 now (I think), don't you have higher skill rates, then?

@Sherwood That's (I think) three times now I've tried talking to the Blind Warrior Woman, without her replying. Is she deaf? Studiously ignoring me? Does she have a magical turn-people-around-field? What's going on here?

I do but it's only 5% a level.  I've already applied the upgrade but I won't be reliably succeeding on basic things in the skill until I'm level 6 or 8 or so.

I've never had a Palladium game of any kind ever raise religious issues and questions for a PC of mine.  But man if this game isn't delighting me tremendously.  Poor Alley's head gets blown every week so far it seems!

Thanks for being a great group to play with, you peeps. :)

I am very sorry; that was a slip of my mind.  I had thought I had her respond to you, but I must have missed it.  It was not intentional, I assure you.

On Vampires, I thought you could only finally kill one with sunlight, water, a souldrinking runesword, or the cremation ritual?  I just thought the other methods either damaged them to temporary disability until they bio-regenerate (silver, wood, some magic weapons, magic/psi, supernatural strength), or disabled them (wood/silver stake to heart, head chopped off and buried somewhere, etc...)?

I will double check in the morning, but I do know that various supernatural creatures like dragons and the Anti-Monster (Grond) can destroy a vampire.  A well placed wooden stake will disable them, and if you cut off the head at that time, it also destroys them.

The wording in the revised Vampire Kingdoms book is sometimes dubious.  I'm cool with whatever you decide.

I had a question regarding the psi power "Sixth Sense."  Is it something that is just automatically triggered without activation, then the points are spent (if available), or is it something that has to be "pre-activated," then the points are spent if triggered and available?

Wording is a little iffy.

Thus far, I expected it to trigger automatically - that said, I'm new to the system. Since there is not too much of a reason to not pre-activate it, I feel like both ways play out rather similarly, though.

Good point.

On a side note, it looks like Palladium "shadow updated" a number of its pre-RUE world books.  I picked up the latest PDF printing of World Book 10, and it turns out to be true.  Luckily there were few changes to the Mega Juicer that hadn't already hit the forums in errata, but there were some minor bits.

Even worse, there is no change log of any kind.  :-(

Hard to tell what was changed and added (or even which books were actually changed) without comparing the books/PDFs with eachother.  Yay for confusing fragmentation.  :-(

Anyone mind if Ozug snags four of the plasma mini-missiles for a full RL-6, and four hand grenades?  Should probably have Alley confirm the grenades aren't booby trapped as well.  #paranoia

@Psychie I have been pondering your request for more magic tattoos and how to make that work without having your character have to vanish for weeks to months on end.  I have come up with a solution.  You already have all the tattoos you will get on your body now, but the 'artist' that gave them to you has put various limiting factors on them to keep them from being active until you have reached various levels of power (leveled up).  This will let you have access to additional tats as you trade out your skills for them.

I have to say, the back and forth of the players is quite enjoyable.  Thanks for all the great postings, everyone!

Well, the site will be going down for the big software change soon.  Once we are back up and running once more, I will be moving onto the next part of the story.

Welcome to RpN 3.0! Lets hope the next generation of the site goes well.

Great to have the site back online - I missed waking up with a dozen alerts waiting for me.

I'm planning on having a new post up soon with your arrival at the town you are going to.
