Whatever that is, I don't like the sound of cookies.

We had a custom system of "like" options.  The Hype Cookies were one of the more popular ones.

Will we be able to delete posts again?

No.  Posts are not permanently deleted.  Under some circumstances you might be able to hide them (the way GMs of a Hosted Project can).

ok. Last question (for now at least), will the members of RPN be briefed on all the expected changes nearer the date of the shutdown?

Yes.

When does it shutdown to be changed?

For me it was down earlier, was that part of it?

No, we haven't started yet.  There will be another announcement to let you all know before it happens.

Wait, will notifications be fixed too?!?! :D

We expect so. ^33^

Will this transfer give us access to an on-site dice roller again?

Being a web developer for another site that is now suffering with an outdated platform and code... I can only imagine the frustration you all must be going through, dayum! Hope the change goes well! Thank you for keeping us all in the loop~

Don't get me wrong, I like IPS on paper, for the most part in some ways its a better product then xF1 and the only chance we were going to get to try it was when xF1 was falling apart but like the title says, its time to go Back to Form.

I totally understand, and I really appreciate all the work you do for us.

(Another thing just occurred to me dear gosh)

Will our post count stay the same?

Oh hey this just occurred to me

Will we still have the cover photo thing? And will our about me thing still be there/exist?

(I honestly don't understand technical jargon so half of the opening post was lost on me... >.> )

Avatars will remain; About Me should also.  Cover photos will not, because the new software doesn't support them.

Will this transfer give us access to an on-site dice roller again?

As soon as we can find one that works and doesn't break other things ^D^

Is there any idea as to how long the site will be offline for, or is it too early to know?

As long as it takes.  We'll try to keep it to a minimum.  Last time we expected it to take a week, and managed it in somewhat less.

Yes.  Your posts won't be lost, so the count won't change.  It may, slightly.  See below from Dark Wizard.

Later in the month.  We don't have a set date yet.  We'll let you know when we do.

The date and other details about the switch will be announced closer to the event.

This just makes me realize how many silent users there are on the site, kind of like voters in last year's election.

I don't think it's silent users as much as some people just come here to roleplay instead of discussing things  :smile9:

There is no set date but it will be towards the end of the month. Official date will be announced closer to the time!

I joined a week or so before the switch, now we are switching again, back to the system I had just learned, only to abandon it for a new system to learn, and we are abandoning that system so I can learn a new old system that I've forgotten how to use. Not feeling great about it.

the Dice Roller was actually our oldest addon and the one causing the most problems. I actually had plans to fund a new one for IPS before it started to crap out. Back on xF once 2.0 lands, I'll see about funding a superior one with support for many more games and functionality. Its something thats at the very top of my list, since I want to run more DnD and Exalted games.

I know @Captain Hesperus wants me to run another game of Exalted.

Yes. Since content doesn't get deleted, your post countt should sttay the same.

Well. Now that I think about it I think the way IPS does it is that status updates are counted in some sort of content number, so xF does not do that. They may go down a bit.

RpN is insanely large.

We have not released a date at this time yet. My goal is before Feb ends, we will release an announcement some time before with the final date/time of the update.

There shouldn't be too much to learn. Most of our members have seemed to prefer xF in the past - after the initial bit of shock, I'm sure the userbase will be pleased. :D

We can get through this together :).
