Gotta love space wizards

I have this sort of idea pinging the back of my head.
The Origin of Good and Evil?

I'm a true sucker for A New Hope. Although, I don't like the skywalker series. As odd as that sounds. Like back before clone wars I even found it all sorts of strange but I love the lore. I love the story line of an old burdened and burnt out jedi knight coming back into the game to rescue someone important.
I love Solo. Love love. I love the whole could be a bad guy but does good things plot. I'm old school. Easily amused.
I love the off world stories and I mean it got me thinking.
I'm still not happy with my level of knowledge and research on this subject so I'm doing a lot of digging and upkeeping my knowledge.

While i agree with the assessment of star wars (i myself am more of a legends far.) im more interested in hearing your idea about the origin of good and evil.

Hey this looks interesting. Im down for a sorta space opera star/wars esque setting. Space wizards rule.

Oddly enough, I love Star Wars for everything EXCEPT the Space Wizards. I love the setting, but I could do without the Sith and Jedi aspects of it.

I live for the smugglers, the mercs, the cartels, the pirates, etc. Basically, I'm in it for the Scum and Villainy. NOT the dichotomy of Good Vs. Evil. All the characters I've ever made for Star Wars RP have never had anything to do with the Force. If anything, I've purposely made ANTI-Jedi characters. lol

I myself am also more of a LEGENDS fan. More so than the canonical stuff, at least. I think the material that exists out of the legends lore is worlds more interesting and creative. Not to say that OG stuff is bad. I don't mean that at all. It's just that legends has done so much more with the setting.

It is in the early stages of development in my head.

It is still developing in my mind. I'm super understanding there is a massive fan base for this lore so commuting myself to a title of starwars should be put loosely.
However, I'm intrigued where Lucas got his inspiration for his space opera. I love Lucas worlds in ever sense. I'm thinking a story where we can explore the origin of good and evil when it comes to the Jedi.

I mean, you have the whole Darth plotline, of course. But what sparked the jedi into existence? Why was there a necessary evil created to restore a balance? How did that balance get thrown off? I'm thinking this offset would be from these twins far predating the starwalker era who may have thrown off this balance. Maybe even set a cycle.
It's still something still in the making.

I'm still brewing it up in my mind. I know I want adventure, space wizards, and something where players can put their own narrative to a storyline that is close to a lot of people's hearts. Without being locked into something too ridged. I'm working on it lol I'll have something put together soon though.

George Lucas essentially got his inspo for the Jedi off of the Shinto religion. Then characters like Han were taken from tropes of the cowboys from Spaghetti Westerns. In the crudest expression, Star Wars is Wizards, Samurai, and Cowboys in space. Pair that with the whole "totalitarian regime vs the freedom fighters" gimmick, and you get the Empire vs. the Rebels.

Also, just as a side note: Darth Vader's theme song sounding very much like Chopin's Funeral March is not coincidental.

The Jedi were essentially monks studying the philosophy of the Force. They eventually had a Schism of beliefs, and some of the defectors fell to the Dark side, and eventually founded the Sith Empire. (Mind you, I'm not talking about the Sith race... that's a different Sith empire)

And since I'm on-topic of OG Jedi. Did you know that the old school light-sabers were tethered by a power-cord to a backpack battery? Probably a lot less flipping and whirling combat back in those times. lol

Well I mean, that's easy to like explain a lore of a setting and I thank you for that! But where I'm heading is the ultimate what if or why questions that propel a role play and a story. You can't just go on a setting alone you have to go a bit deeper. I'm very inspired by like some small off handed comment in one of the movies like how one move is enough to off set the balance. I mean it's sort of crazy how Harry Potter this all is but I mean I'm getting distracted. What I mean is like, I want to know more. I want to go deeper. I essentially want to create an answer to my questions through role playing it. I think it would be just so interesting and unique!

I'm certain there is some story that inspired Lucas. I just started a documentary about a lot of his motivations for the series and a lot is Chinese mythology. It's really interesting.

I just sort of got inspired by that and the title popped into my head.

To be honest, I kinda don't understand what you mean. lol

I'd read some interview decades ago that had himtalking about the tropes 'd mentioned before. Clearly, asian inspired. lol

What do you mean... Harry Potter?

Bad people are interesting and they aren't always "bad" they could just be doing it to save their family or maybe they are in debt or they do not know how else to live. Like Han grew up in a poor environment in the Solo movie so is he really to blame? But I do enjoy the force aspect a lot because I like moving things and people with my hand. But Legends is cool although don't you guys call it something else? Like extended universe or something? I just know one dude got pissed when I called it Legends.

Meh idfk. Im not a gatekeeper about that kinda stuff. I prefer the legends lore because in my opinion the yuuzan vong war was a way better continuation point than the imperial remnant factions.

SO whats the plan here? Are we going to have a plot line that involves everyone? Or is it just free for all with smugglers and shit? If we do have the force be a big driving force in your story then I think being a sith would be interesting.

NO PUN INTENDED..

Yes, it used to be called Extended Universe lore until Disney decided to get its grips into it. Some people are sore about it. I dont care. As long as everyone knows we arent talking about official canon, thats what matters. lol
The thing I've always thought was interesting about the Star Wars fandom, is that you can have officially licensed and sold products (even entire book series!) that arent recognized as canonical despite being legally endorsed by the Star Wars label.

Like, Jacen and Jaina Solo, for instance. Who tf is Ben Solo? ;-)

I'm not one for smuggler shit. I am very much someone who enjoys a plotline for everyone. Or at least a plotline that can have multiple storylines. The story just has to appeal to my tastes and vision. Which very much involves the force. The lore around that. I mean my opening interest check was like space opera, space cult, I believe.

I'm just not someone who is super driven in that area. I rather focus on the force plotline. It's easier for me as a general moderator.

Speaking of "what if's"... Since the lightsaber is essentially a recirculating beam of plasma in an electromagnetic field, wouldn't an EMP burst disrupt that field and essentially cause the plasma to "leak" all over the wielder? Or at the very least, it could fry all the internals (capacitors, switches, etc.) There was actually a comic where Vader is fighting some storm troopers, and one of them throws an ion grenade and shorts out his saber. And Star Wars Ion weapons are essentially their version of EMP weaponry. So why don't more people take advantage of this when fighting Jedi/Sith? Seems like one hell of an oversight. Also, Scatterguns. Can't block solid ammo with a lightsaber the way they deflect the directed energy bolt of a blaster. Even if they caught the projectile, the molten form would still speed through and spatter them with white-hot metal.

Shorting sabers seems to just maje them go off the plasma just vanishing as serial things can shirt a light saver but no one ever gets burned by it.

As for slug throwers the mandalores apprently tried it and unless you use a ton of shots it isn't an issue. In truth they are more banking on the slug staying whole abd managing to pass through the blade with enough force to kill or Injure. That being said it would likely take high caliber rounds.
