Eiru

1. Rumor has it that Eiru's small stature is the result of her being a half breed human-dwarf.

2. Eiru's uncanny ability to always end up in some form of trouble is said to be a curse bestowed upon her by an angry noble.

3. Eiru's hatred for Nobles is also rumoured to be a result of this rumoured curse.

4. Eiru's broom is known to be sentient to some extent but how it attained such sentience is rumoured to be through Eiru's entrapment of a soul in the item.

5. Eiru is a well-renowned mage and in arcane circles, her work with runes has been praised as miraculous the continent over however it is rumoured that Eiru's work and findings were stolen and her work was not her own. After all, how could such a young witch unravel such a complex form of ancient magic?

6. It has been rumoured many a time that Eiru's affiliation with the Arcane house despite her clear lack of nobility is a result of the king's direct action. And why would he do such a thing? Well, it's obviously because Eiru is his secret love child!

Akeldama-

1. Akel has been rumoured to be in a relationship with Vas'on. Both of whom deny such allegations sternly.

2. Akeldama is actually a trained assassin sent to keep watch over the guild

3. Akeldama is a vampire.

4. Akeldama's sword was stolen from the corpse of her first assassination target.

5. Akeldama is always lurking in the shadows and listening to what you say

Time for another OOC event! This one will apply to the IC thread, and for those of you who were in the last one I promise it's less lore heavy. This time we're doing... the rumour mill!

Here are the rules:
- Participating earns +20 attribute points for a character of your choice. Only one character gets the bonus points, even if you do multiple sheets.
- To start you create at least three rumours that other members of the guild might have heard.
- They can be true, false, or wildly exaggerated. Some may even conflict.
- They can be about a character's past actions (whether played out IC or otherwise), their affiliations, their origins... anything a gossiping gaggle of adventurers might find interesting around a campfire.
- The rumours are cannon to the IC thread. Whether a character has heard any or all of the news is at the discretion of the roleplayer.
- If the character does know the rumours they can bring it up in interactions.
- Sources can come from outside the guild, but they should have a plausible chance of reaching the members' ears at some point.
- Three is the minimum, but you can add as many more as you wish!

OPTIONAL:
Is your character likely to know the gossip about others? Maybe they're the type to ask around, or contribute to keeping the rumour mill running.

Let me know if there are any questions. I'll work on my characters soon, maybe after I post for Ymir in the IC thread to get the group moving.

RatKing RatKing Hah! They definitely need to look into that sonar option. Underwater caves are so inconvenient.
Nanalee is not really the type to know about the gossip of others. Her information if any, would usually be gained if she happens to be mingling/chatting/sparring with others that happen to speak about the rumours.

Rumours:
  1. Nanalee uses her necklace to commune with and summon the spirits she has links with.
    • "Oi, you know the snow harpy that recently joined us?"
    • "Yeah, the one that's always asking for spars?"
    • "Yup, you know the rainbow necklace she always wears? I hear she uses it to channel her magic or whatever."
    • "Oh damn, no wonder she's so protective of it."
  2. Nanalee was kicked out of her family.
    • "You think so? She always talks so fondly about her family though."
    • "Why else do you think she came all the way here from Aestir? There's probably some complicated family issues."
  3. Nanalee is the oldest of five children.
    • "Wow, I wouldn't have thought she was an oldest child."
    • "Yeah, she's usually so carefree and reckless, I kind of assumed she was a youngest/only child."
  4. Nanalee is an excellent fisher.
    • "Dude, I literally saw her at the food market in Lantana the other day. She was selling this huge fish and haggling and bargaining its price really enthusiastically. It was kind of amazing, I didn't even know there were fish that size around here."
  5. Nanalee does not have long left to live.
    • "What? Really?"
    • "Yeah... it's probably why she's so nonchalant about death and injury."
    • "Damn..."
  6. Nanalee's younger brother is famous in Orani, Aestir's capital.
    • "I'm not too clear on the details, but I hear he's not only the valued successor of Nanalee's parents' merchant company, but a genius too. He got first in some fancy island-wide exam and is now helping manage matters of trade for his parents."
    • "Where the hell did you hear news about Aestir from? That's so far."
    • "A merchant from over there that looks up to Nanalee's brother came over recently, he and Nanalee chatted for a while. He seemed to really look up to her family."
  7. Nanalee comes from a savage tribe.
    • "That doesn't surprise me."
  8. Nanalee has hunted and eaten humans before.
    • "What?! That's terrifying!"
    • "I mean... you gotta do what you gotta do to survive right?"
    • "B-But why'd she come to Lantana then?? There's a lot of humans here... you think, m-maybe, the missing person reports..."
    • "Bro..."

The barkeep raises an eyebrow as you ask about the strange duo of strangers. She doesn't seem to blame you for being curious. After all, she is one of the greatest pairs eyes and ears of the guild. "When a new adventurer rolls into town... there's bound to be rumors, especially when it concerns these two..."

~Brennan
"That one? Fufufu... I'm quite curious myself. He seldom speaks unless it's business and seems to come alive when his beloved is near. So what have I heard?
(1) I hear Brennan is not even from Andrius's country. And yet, it's strange that he always talks about it as if it was his own. Perhaps a deep buried past... hm...
(2) There's something dark about the way Brennan stares at folks... Or is it just me? It's cold, beautiful, yet distant, like a star? Or is it an endless void? Whatever it is, it seems to lure people in, though something in them pleads that they should stay away? Is he perhaps... not human as he has claimed to be in his documents? Is Andrius victim to this strange feeling?
(3) Such a noble air, he once said he was the monarch of a nation. So why leave such a luxurious and lofty position? Perhaps he was exiled? Behind that placid smile, what lies underneath? Is it all just a mask? One name seems to linger in the air somewhere...
the Spectral Ouroboros: a vicious, primordial creature of death and rebirth that seems to disappear from the face of the world, only to reappear under a different guise. Always evolving, always adapting - all for the sake of hunting all manner of prey. ...What a sinister title.

~Andrius
"Ah, the fabled crown prince! He's quite the looker! It seems he's quite smitten with Brennan. I wonder if he reciprocates... If Andrius's ever available, I'd buy out. Immediately."
(1) He's so outspoken, direct. He has that wildness to him that seems to turn eyes... Is he really royalty? Perhaps the family he claims to love so wholeheartedly is his adoptive one? Was left on the streets as a young boy? He seems to have the teeth of a vagabond, despite his regal appearance. His eyes are oh so feral... I wonder.
(2) Andrius says he was possessed by a wild goddess. That kind of statement gets people's attention really fast. Whether it's made up or not, Brennan seems to shift uncomfortably whenever her name is mentioned... Kalivann? I think it was? They say she was expelled. But what does that mean? Did they really kill such a divine being? How can such a thing be achieved? If not... is it possible that Kalivann still lives? And if so... where has she gone to?
(3) Er... On the other hand... it might be nothing. Andrius seems to wander about town, especially during his nightly 'mediations'. He seems to be fully loyal to Brennan, but with the people he fancies, he is a bit too flirty. How much does Brennan know about this? I hear a young lass at the marketplace seemed to remember Andrius, and not for good reason...
It seems that whatever breed of skirt chaser Andrius was, it hasn't changed since meeting Brennan. Maybe someone should tell him...

How long do you think it would take a snow harpy to travel from Aestir to Lantana? (not travelling directly by boat, instead going up and around to travel mostly by land)
I'd say three days if she cuts across the ocean and follows the coast, but four if she were to head north and travel across the ravine instead. It might take longer if she has frequent breaks or isn't in a rush, but are you planning for her to visit Aestir at some point? If so she can also use the waystone to teleport from the guild to the edge of the ravine, which would take a significant portion off the journey.
On foot I would say it takes about a week from Lantana to reach the port where goods are shipped across to Aestir.

The Rumour Mill
Ymir (+20):
- She often gets mistaken for a southlander despite being from the far north. For some reason, her features match those of the desert dwellers.
- Eiru joked about Ymir sleeping with her maps so often that it started to catch on. In retaliation Ymir spun the story of a passionate romance between Eiru and one particularly tall gnome.
- There are plenty of theories about who Ymir is or isn't with. Most of the time she laughs it off, but when asked once if she avoided the inner city because of an ex she reacted rather strangely.

Azalea:
- No one has a clue what causes her appearance. According to older members of the guild, she once looked perfectly human.
- She's not one for spreading rumours, but she's known for tracking down members regarding some of the ones she's heard.
- She frequently sends letters into the city. Most of them are reports, but certain ones she makes sure are kept private.

Milby:
- Milby is a rampant source of misinformation and embellished stories within the guild. Granted, they are mostly about herself.
- Despite her wildly embellished tales she claims to never lie. Lying is for tyrants and evil overlords.
- A lot of her habits resemble those of bandits, from stealing nibbles from the kitchen to her sometimes abrasive way of speaking. It's not as bad as it used to be.

Pri:
- What isn't a rumour? The elusive owl is around so little, most of what's known about her is pure hearsay.
- Sometimes newer members end up thinking she doesn't exist. Other guilds too, for that matter.
- Pri's supposed to be choosing the next guildmaster soon, but the criteria for the selection is completely unknown.
- Tampering with the waystone seems to be a surefire way to make her appear.

Tyron:
- Despite being part of the guild, he's utterly derisive of the notion. Acts as if he would rather be anywhere else whenever he's in the hall.
- Certain guild members have complained about being arrested by him while on missions.
- He comes from the esteemed Avaticcus family, so there's a degree of confusion over why he's in the guild in the first place.

1. Ashitaka carries his eye with him everywhere, as a reminder of how he lost it.
Ymir is definitely going to ask to see it at some point lol.

3. Ashitaka has never actually killed someone before.
CLEARLY FALSE. He has strangled at least one person while underwater :angels:

...I'm beginning to wonder if he isn't an undercover assassin.

7. Ashitaka is a vampire.
New rumour, him and Akeldama are secret siblings

4. Eiru's broom is known to be sentient to some extent but how it attained such sentience is rumoured to be through Eiru's entrapment of a soul in the item.
Ymir has bets going it was a dog. Maybe an old pet.

6. It has been rumoured many a time that Eiru's affiliation with the Arcane house despite her clear lack of nobility is a result of the king's direct action. And why would he do such a thing? Well, it's obviously because Eiru is his secret love child!
Lol, and they wonder why she hates nobles.

7. Nanalee comes from a savage tribe.
8. Nanalee has hunted and eaten humans before.
The stories Ymir tells others about her hometown probably don't help...

6. Nanalee's younger brother is famous in Orani, Aestir's capital.
That is an awesome name for a city!

Will be interesting to see how well Tyron cooperates with these two on the Solmar mission : )

Ruvo Rumors
-There are rumors that Ruvo’s voice might not be his own and is merely just the voice of someone he decided to start mimicking.

-Ruvo’s kind known as the Kenku once had wings long ago until they were cursed after upsetting some kind of patron spirit or god.

-Some think that Ruvo and Tyron both studied how to use their magical affinities from the same place given the similarities between them.

-Ruvo actually has small wings on his back that he is embarrassed of.

-Some believe that Ruvo only claims his air affinity is weak in order to trick others to believing he is weaker than he actually is .

-Ruvo's family moved from the Jameba Jungle to Lantana due to growing number of monstrous beast in the area.

-Ruvo can speak to birds.

I wasn't particularly planning on having her visit Aestir again anytime soon, though I do like the idea, I was more trying to get a sense of distance and travel time.
m9PChHQ.png

Just double-checking, roughly the green line would take a harpy/quick flier 3 days, the blue line would take a harpy/quick flier 4 days and for those that travel at an average walking speed by foot, it would take a week to travel the red line? How long would you say it would take the average human to travel between Aestir and Lantana total then?
The stories Ymir tells others about her hometown probably don't help...
Haha, if Nanalee and Ymir didn't head off on the same expedition straight after she joined, I'm sure these rumours would cause the air between them to be rather tense!
That is an awesome name for a city!
The credit goes to Zufaix, they named the capital! I'm still building off of their original lore for Aestir :D

Yes! That's a helpful visual, thank you. For a human taking the green route it would be anywhere between a week and half to two weeks (or longer) combining both the trip north and voyage across the inlet.

I'm open for any kind of mission I can be dragged into with Maria. but in this case, it might not be the smartest idea to send a copper rank to go on a gold rank mission ¬¬
So with regard to logic, I would prefer to stick with an easier mission for Maria.

I still need to make Maria's entry post anyway

That makes sense. It would make a pretty morbid introduction to adventuring for Maria >v> I may or may not be able to participate in a third quest, depending on my workload now that uni's started again, but if you and Vagabond Spectre Vagabond Spectre are interested in doing a lower rank mission together that works out too. I'll probably end up bringing in Milby regardless.

Sadly I won't get a response done tonight like I hoped, but I do have a prototype of the Solmar map to share. The waystone is only able to teleport to the outskirts of the corruption so they'll have to do the rest of the journey on foot (for reference it'd take roughly a day by horse to reach the scouting outpost that's been marked). Brennan and Andrius could procure mounts from one of the defesive outposts if they wish, but overall the journey part can be timeskipped. Muunbane Muunbane 's character is at the scouting outpost already, as well as my own character Tyron.

For now I've set up a second questing thread to keep things separate from the sacred isles expedition. Link for it is here.

Solmar.jpg

Edit: @ Sacred Isles Crew
Ymir's post, when I get round to it, will skip over most of the journey through the caves. I may describe some minor encounters but I currently don't have anything planned for that leg of the journey. Just a heads up in case it catches anyone off guard.

It's totally fine! No rush! I'm actually preparing for an exam in 2 days so I'll likely get my response posted the following day. I do have a few questions though:

- Did I miss Tyron's character sheet? I was trying to find it to have a look to kind of gauge Brennan and Andrius's dynamic with Tyron.
- Can I assume that before they leave for Solmar, all characters involved get a physical map of the area? The defensive > scouting > fortified ruins arrows seem straightforward. What would jump out to Brennan would the entrance to the catacombs close by. Very interesting.

I believe everyone is given a map when they join the guild alongside their Guildstone. As far as I know, Ymir particularly as well as others contribute to the main guild map and then all the other maps guildmembers hold are updated. There was already a quest that took place in the Solmar Tomb and Catacombs. I would say information pertaining to the quest would be available from Azalea and also noted on the quest sheet itself.

Ah no, Tyron's sheet isn't on the new character thread yet. I ended up reworking some of his history so it needs to be updated. Will try to have it up soon!

Swiftshots has a pretty good idea of it. The guild map is enchanted similarly to the waystone, so it will only work in places where players can teleport in and out of. Areas like Solmar that have magical interference can't be displayed on the enchanted map, which Tyron and Eiru both encountered in their previous quest in the region. The guard outposts do have good ol ink maps though which Brennan and Andrius can be given a copy of.

PS. I struggle with intros so apologies if the first post was short. You and Muunbane Muunbane should be tagged on the thread now.

Elias looks good! Do you plan to have him participate in quests? Him being a cook is fine but unless there are other players in the main hall it's usually quite inactive. Blyke Luxford and I both have secondary characters which is why Azalea and Kathlyn never leave the thread, but you may end up stuck if he doesn't have anyone else to interact with.

One option could be to go out hunting for ingredients, though if you have other ideas that's fine. Tellussoil Tellussoil might be able to help out with Maria.

Sorry to anyone waiting on Ymir's response. Work's been busy but I'll try finish it tonight if I don't immediately crash.

Yes, I do plan him taking on simpler quests. He has to go out of the kitchen sometimes and also Yeah. Ingredient hunting would be things he would do.

Heyo, just wondering if people are struggling to respond to the sacred isles quest? I can do an extra post to clear things up if people are stuck.

If you're at a loss for ideas, you can always rip from my post and (loosely) describe the way over. I found that helped in getting those creative cogs churning!
