The Force of Justice - IC Thread

"Incarcerate." The speedster answers quickly. "Just always assume we incarber- always assume we arrest 'em. No 'recycling' anybody."

"Oh, okay!" Dreamy nods eagerly. "I will try to remember - but you're right - focus on the mission!" Again, Dreamy's ever-curious mind shifts to another question - does this mean Chaser is The Captain now? But she holds off. Sooner or later, she reasons as she hovers an inch off of the floor, someone in their group will "make it so."

"Star Trek TNG christmas song Make It So"

Luminary stood ready to jump in and and assist Chaser with his explanations of the words, and nods in agreement with his words. "He is right, Dreamy. If at all possible, we will try to restrain and hold any criminals to be transported to the care of the local authorities, and not just take matters into our own hands and end their lives. Unfortunately, there may be times and places where using lethal force is needed to save more lives, but that must not be the normal reply to danger, but instead the exception."

She looks around the room at the others and says, "If we can convince the one survivor to allow Dreamy to look and see if he has been Mind Controlled, we'll have her do so. In the meantime, does anyone else have any questions before we get a move on?"

Dreamy tries to follow Luminary's way of thinking. "My people act similarly to many of the four-legged Carbonites that roam the wilds outside of your cities. If we are in combat with hostile forces meant on subduing us, we often reply with much of the same. But any threats attempting to render our lifeglows inert, with the intent and means to do so, endanger their very own lifeglows. Much like San Francisco's law enforcement!"

Dreamy looks pleased and proud as she launches into a short story. "They taught me the difference between a taser and a firearm after I threw the firearm-shooting Carbonite wrongdoer face-first into the big metal dumpster! When he came out of his daze, I told him I'd give him a hug if he surrendered. And he did! I embraced him and he seemed to change. We had a good talk before the police arrived. I restored the lifeglow I had taken from him before we took him to the police jail. The last time I saw him, he said after he 'did his time,' he wanted to become something called a social services worker to help people! It was so wonderful of him!" Dreamy turns roughly in the direction of the jail. "I hope he's having a good day!"

She looks around the room at the others and says, "If we can convince the one survivor to allow Dreamy to look and see if he has been Mind Controlled, we'll have her do so. In the meantime, does anyone else have any questions before we get a move on?"

Dreamy gives a bashful smile. "I'll always be curious - it's the way I'm made.

"Could we also ask..." Dreamy thinks hard trying to get it right, "Rebecca Talbert, daughter of California Governor Talbert - I hope I got that right! - her unique perspective?"

"Oh, and..." Dreamy looks between Chaser and Luminary and the others, "...does this mean one of you is our captain? I mean, which of us is the one voice we unite during times of conflict?" Dreamy looks to ingenious Colt Campbell, stalwart Lady Justice, and courageous Nisha. "Given that this is your world, I highly recommend a Carbonite."

Dreamy asks with real interest, "What are you thinking?"

As they wait for the others to reply with their thoughts, Deb will slide over to stand next to Dreamy and quickly make sure she knows how to use her GPS and navigation apps on the phone she was given by the FoJ. "Everyone, lets go ahead and meet up here, at the Governors Mansion, and start with getting a read on the girl that these men were trying to snatch up, this Rebecca Talbert. I wonder, is she a paranormal? If so, we will need to be very careful with what people we share this information with. There are many people that will just freak out with the fact that if she is some sort of metahuman, she had to get the genes from one of her parents, and that fact could irreparably damage the Governor's efforts to run the state, let alone any chance for reelection."

OOC I'll add a bump for D. Rex D. Rex Epiphany Epiphany and Silanon Silanon

"What I'm thinking..." Nisha, quiet thus far, leans back in her chair, eyes focused on some indistinguishable spot on the ceiling. "We better be careful. Maybe the girl is gifted. Maybe someone messes with minds. Perhaps, someone wants to discredit the governor, or just feels like creating chaos for us to stumble into. But someone involved will have a plan. And they'll be prepared for us, now, after creating that mess. My gut tells me to stay clear of this." Maybe a reason to take care of it; maybe a really bad idea. Time will tell.

"It might be best to not show our hand. Let two arrive officially, and the others join in secret. Whatever surfaced - we want it to be confident enough to show itself. If there's anything we can learn about the missing woman - that'd be good. From what I gather, she had enough wits to get out of there in time, and alive, right? Tells me that she was prepared, resilient and thus dangerous, or lucky. and if it was pure chance, then she might even be in trouble herself. Either way, if there are news about her, we need to know immediately."

"As for the lead - no one understands the others well enough to decide. If we can't agree, then Blue Bolt is here, but I'd suggest we find common ground instead. We're only so many, after all."

Luminary nods, then says, "I like that. Good thinking. Who wants to tackle what job? I would suggest that Dreamy is one of those to examine the captured man to see if he will be willing to consent to a mental probe. I would like to go to speak with the girl, this Rebecca. I have a strong suspicion that she is some sort of metahuman, and that may be the reason why she was targeted by a team of kidnappers. But that is only a theory, and we have to find some sort of leads.

"I am wondering about the weapons that were used by the kidnappers. Does anyone have the technical skill to investigate them? Perhaps we can find a lead on where they came from?"

But someone involved will have a plan. And they'll be prepared for us, now, after creating that mess. My gut tells me to stay clear of this."

Dreamy tries to recall what a "gut" is and after remembering, she leans over and openly peers at Nisha's belly in naked curiosity. If Luminary has two different creatures living inside of her body, why not Nisha? Is this true? Dreamy doesn't want to derail the conversation, so instead of asking, she carefully doffs her Chaser-provided hoodie and, after a happy glance at Chaser, she tries several times to fold it. And fails. Having little concept of clothing care outside of the use of hangers, she continues to fail. Still, she keeps on trying appearing not the least bit dejected or frustrated with her lack of success. If anything, she seems to keep at it.

I would suggest that Dreamy is one of those to examine the captured man to see if he will be willing to consent to a mental probe.

"Oh, let me! I'll try! And I'm hoping Rebecca Talbert is open to talking with us, too." The Starborn asks while this is going on, "But Nisha, if you are certain that those-who-threaten-Rebecca-Talbert are prepared for us, then why divide our numbers? Doesn't that improve the chances of their success?" Then she quickly adds. "Is your gut telling you anything new?"

"I am wondering about the weapons that were used by the kidnappers. Does anyone have the technical skill to investigate them? Perhaps we can find a lead on where they came from?"

"Fantastic idea, Luminary!" Dreamy looks to someone, anyone, else. She is lucky enough to have gained the knowledge of how to properly utilize some of the features of her new Force of Justice smartphone. Internally, she hopes the phone is fireproof and she finds that she desires ringtones from each of her teammates. It is something to ask when the planning is all done and Dreamy felt it would be a nice topic to chat about as they travel to wherever they decide to go. Chaser and Luminary, she feels, seem to have a good grasp on these things - Dreamy tries to remember to ask them for aid when she asks the team which songs they would like to represent them as ringtones.

Blue Bolt leans back in his chair, and then says, "Ok, here's what we're going to do. Terranaut, you have the technical expertise to examine the energy weapons that the bad guys were using. Check them out. I believe that they will be found in the FBI's evidence room, and since Lady Justice has some firearms knowledge, you should go with him. Now, Luminary and Chaser. The two of you go to speak with the Governor and his family. See if there is anything in the past few weeks that would offer up a suggestion on just who is behind all of this. Just go easy when talking with Rebecca. Remember, she's only twelve, and has had a very traumatic experience. The rest of you, swing by the jail and see if our kidnapper has lawyered up. Try and convince him to allow a mental probe to see if he's been mind controlled."

"Does anyone have any final questions before you head out?"

Luminary gives Chaser a thumbs up, then looks over at Blue Bolt and says, "I think I'm good." She looks back at Chaser and says, "I know you can haul ass pretty good, so you shouldn't need a lift. I'll stick to the roads so we can arrive at the mansion together. Sound like a plan?"

Depending on her skill in ready lips, Luminary may have been able to make out the words "wait what no don't complicate it".

"Does anyone have any final questions before you head out?"
"I just got one. This some kind of top secret mission or something? What we supposed to ask this guy anyway?"

Luminary gives Chaser a thumbs up
Chaser returned the gesture.

"I know you can haul ass pretty good, so you shouldn't need a lift. I'll stick to the roads so we can arrive at the mansion together. Sound like a plan?"
The speedster smiled and shrugged all coy-like. "Hey, got no problems with that. We goin' now?"

There are important matters at hand - and something else that really needs to be addressed first. After all - who could watch Dreamy's constant fumbling with that hoodie and not be irritated by it? It's not like folding clothes is a science... thus, Nisha stands up, closes the distance to the Starborn, and quietly offers her assistance - ready to slowly and deliberately fold the piece of clothing so that Dreamy can see how it's done, if allowed. Meanwhile addressing two questions, one spoken and the other unasked, hidden in the stare.

Firstly,
she leans over and openly peers at Nisha's belly in naked curiosity.
"It's a figure of speech. Like a gut feeling. An instinct." Those words are whispered, to not raise unneeded attention.

But Nisha, if you are certain that those-who-threaten-Rebecca-Talbert are prepared for us, then why divide our numbers? Doesn't that improve the chances of their success?"
"Because six of us in one place are hard to deal with. And they'll know that as well, and might just hide and only act once we're elsewhere. We want to be careful, but not necessarily safe; because if we're completely safe, they'll stay safe as well, and they can wait indefinitely while we can't. Figuratively speaking - we have other things to take care of, too, while they might be happy to just wait us out. Basically, I want them to underestimate us, and they won't do that if we show up in full force."
The rest of you, swing by the jail and see if our kidnapper has lawyered up. Try and convince him to allow a mental probe to see if he's been mind controlled."
"That would leave me and Dreamy here, right? Works for me." For a moment, Nisha pauses, offering the Starborn time to object. If there is no immediate response, she seeks eye contact with Dreamy, and continues. "Listen. We'll make it simple. They know you by now, so it'll be Dreamy Starborn visiting that man. You don't mention 'Nisha' or 'Dawn' to anyone there, and just act as if I'm only there to take care of the necessary paperwork. Simple as that. I work best when I'm not at the center of the attention. Oh - and don't worry about any shadows if it comes to that." To illustrate her last point, she summons a handful of darkness, and allows it to swirl through the room, with little more than a sharp word, and a couple of gestures. Not to show off, but to simply show. "How do you travel, usually?"

If there are no other questions to be raised, it seems that the briefing is getting ready to close up. The other members of the FoJ that are not being sent to Sacramento are the first to head for the door, and both Lady Justice and Terranaut put their heads together to figure out the best way for the two of them to get to the storeroom where the blaster pistols taken from the would-be kidnappers are being held.

As for the rest of you, it sounds like you are planning on traveling under your own power to your respective destinations instead of using the team jet. Luminary and Chaser can have a race to see who gets to the Governor's mansion the fastest as they fly/run along, leaving Dreamy and Dawn to choose how you will get to the hospital. Unless Nisha has a good visual on just where she's landing, a long range teleport would be very dangerous until you have a memorized location to go to. It could work for you to have Dreamy give you a telekinetic lift as she flies, unless you two have other plans.

Luminary gives Chaser a playful punch on the shoulder and says, "We'll talk to this kid and her family, and get a read on their take on what happened out there. Maybe they have a few clues for us to follow and we can get a handle on whomever it is that has targeted this kid. I don't know how fast you can run, but I can go pretty fast in the air. We should be able to keep up with each other on the road. It only is, what? Eighty miles between San Fran and Sacramento? We'll make it there in a few minutes."

She looks around the room at everyone and says, "Hey guys, just remember a couple of important things. We are dealing with the life of a child, and must be careful not to let her get in harms way. Also, just because we're heroes doesn't mean that we are invulnerable. Be careful, and keep in touch with one another. Information is a powerful weapon to use, but it is useless to us if we don't share it with each other."

Looking back to Chaser, she says, "I'm set to go. You ready?"

(Part 1 of 2) (This playing catch-up here made a big post, so I decided to chop it up into two - past and present, if you will. - Dann) =)

"Aha! So you're the captain of our crew! I see it now!" Dreamy floats forward in front of Blue Bolt. She stands up straight, chest out, shoulders back, and promptly salutes him with the wrong hand. "Captain Blue Bolt! The Hole in the Wall Gang - that's my favorite charity; a bunch of nice Carbonite children - have shown me how this whole thing works! We're your crew and you're in command, so now we do whatever you say!" Dreamy seems unusually happy about this.

Dreamy the Kairissian gratefully floats back and watches Nisha closely to see how she properly folds clothing. "Ooooh, it's so much more compact now." She smiles her gratitude to Nisha, takes the hoodie, flops it open, then repeats the process Nisha performed while using her Eidetic Memory to show her the steps. As her fingers perform the motions, Dreamy finally succeeds in folding the Carbonite invention. In the end, Dreamy can't help but cheer. "Hooray!"

"It's a figure of speech. Like a gut feeling. An instinct." Those words are whispered, to not raise unneeded attention.

"Oh! You mean it's slang! Okay."

Not to show off, but to simply show. "How do you travel, usually?"

Dreamy makes no objection whatsoever and returns the eye contact as a matter of habit. "You think they'll know me so quickly? Okay!" After listening, Dreamy repeats back the important parts of Nisha's plan. "Okay. Don't mention your name. Act as if you're part of my crew - I have a crew when I'm modeling; the Carbonite who does my hair is sooo sweeeet! And don't pay attention to-- Oh!" Dreamy points in surprise at Nisha's handful of darkness. "You're a shadowbringer! Why didn't you say so?"

(Part 2 of 2)

Looking back to Chaser, she says, "I'm set to go. You ready?"

"Wait, wait, wait. Before we divide our numbers, would you like to be Mind Linked? Don't worry," Dreamy waves her hands, "no one will know your inner mind or anything like that - this is just how we Kairissians talk!"

Dreamy's blue eyes remain fixed on Luminary as she slowly concentrates. In complete silence, the Kairissian stands motionless for long moments, her body appearing statuesque though her mind appears to have gone elsewhere. Nothing untoward or unusual outside of her happens. Then, and once again for some of you, a faint mental "knock" arrives at the outer edge of your mental awareness. Unobtrusive and painless, it is as if someone else is asking to think inside of your head with you. Dreamy's voice, accompanied by a vision of her smiling and making knocking motions toward each of you (including Blue Bolt) enters your mind's eye, if you choose to be aware of it. And if not, the knocking simply fades like a dream.

"Hi, it's me. This is how we Kairissians communicate! With our thoughts!"

Dreamy can Mind Link our entire group together with (as far as I know) uninterruptable, completely private method of mental communication. Everyone is welcome to join. -Dann. =)

* * *

Once everyone is ready to leave, Dreamy answers Nisha's question.

"How do you travel, usually?"

"Simple! Like this!" Dreamy's body goes from a few centimeters off the floor to a few feet. Dreamy speaks inside Nisha's mind if she is willing. "Come outside! You'll love it!

"Bye, Captain Blue Bolt sir!" She salutes the Force of Justice member one more time, speaking telepathically if he accepted or verbally if he didn't.

Once outside, if Nisha is willing, Dreamy floats and dances through the air. She opens both arms wide at her side, and keeping Nisha to her left, Dreamy reaches out with her left hand to intertwine with the fingers on Nisha's right. It is both a simple and very friendly embrace of sorts. "While Carbonites travel in a gravity-bound fashion, we Kairissians often must free ourselves from the force of gravity to do what we do. So, this is how we naturally... get around!" Dreamy raises off of the sunny grass and telekinetically lifts Nisha's body from the Earth with in a smooth, harmless fashion.

Dreamy explains. "You can let me go if you want to - we just like to hold hands and touch a lot when we travel together. It's how we are. Want to see?"

Again, if Nisha is willing, Dreamy lifts them both about. Gently, speedily, and with great confidence, Dreamy takes them both from the Force of Justice mansion (in the manner taught to her - front doors if she has to, or just lifting off from where they are if she is allowed to). Knowing San Francisco as she does, Dreamy and Nisha fly through the air, not like one is pulling the other along, but in a sense of togetherness. Nisha, for all intents and purposes, is flying alongside Dreamy, taking a scenic route that will not take up a lot of extra time while showing Nisha the way Kairissians naturally travel - for things are quite different when you are formed into a race of ancient cosmic travelers where whole worlds are what cities are to Carbonites and the entire universe seems to beckon to you to reach out and be explore.

"Roam" by the B-52s!

"Few minutes?" Chaser smirked. "C'mon girl, don't be down on me like that. San Fran to Sactown is like a minute, tops."

The speedster did some quick quad stretches and rolled his shoulders back. "Hey, no problem." He made a flourish with hand, as if to sweep aside anyone's concerns. "You can count on ya boy to be careful and open and all that. I'll make sure nothin' happens to the girl either."

"Wait, wait, wait. Before we divide our numbers, would you like to be Mind Linked? Don't worry," Dreamy waves her hands, "no one will know your inner mind or anything like that - this is just how we Kairissians talk!"
"Mind what?" Chaser squinted. "Just h- huh?"

Miles looked suddenly around the room. "Uh...yo, Lumy? Think you could handle this whole 'Mind Linked' thing? I uh...got a condition, so I don't think I should do it." Was this a bold-faced lie? Only sort of. It wasn't that he wasn't trusting of Dreamy, just that he wasn't that trusting of anyone.

"Anyway, that all?"

If it was, he nodded to Luminary. "Catch ya at the guv's place. Try and keep up!" With a confident smile, Chaser did a little pivot vanished, a burst of wind filling the space he left behind.

"You're a shadowbringer! Why didn't you say so?"
"Because..." - the mage whispers, and her eyes seem to stare at a distant point somewhere to the east - "people fear shadows, and for good reason. They can kill, and haunt you at night. They are the unknown, the unfamiliar. And most just try to stay safe, and expect others to do the same, and never learn to understand. Some judge the tool, not the one who wields it." If that response seems cryptic, it is one of the few moments where she does not care to elaborate.
And if not, the knocking simply fades like a dream.

"Hi, it's me. This is how we Kairissians communicate! With our thoughts!"
This is - amazing. And worrying. Dangerous. And thus, Nisha's first response is to answer the knocking, only to slam the mental door shut immediately. Somehow satisfied with the result, she nods, eyeing Chaser for a moment. She doesn't judge; in fact, for a moment, she seems to consider the same reaction, before turning back towards Dreamy. "Sorry - try again." If she could shake it off just now, she'll be to do so again. "My mind's my own, but this might prove useful." Especially being in the same team, and all. If invited in again, she'll share a simple vision for testing purposes - a ball of shadows soaring through the night with an unknown destination. After that, her mind will retreat, but stay just enough in touch to notice any changes.
"Come outside! You'll love it!
Nisha stays for just a moment longer - dropping a simple "Good-luck - see you all there" - then allows Dreamy's enthusiasm to drag her out of the building. There, however, she stops dead in her tracks, because trust is good, but being certain is better. "Give me a moment - I'll grab a sweater." In fact, that's exactly what she does - calling forth an ounce of magic to step into one of the trees' shadow, disappear, and reappear a moment later. Wearing Chaser's gifted hoodie, because that might just work as an official work attire for the moment. Plus, it draws attention away from her face, right? That the short trip included a triple-check of all the defense measures in place, ensuring the book's safety while she is gone - she doesn't mention it at the slightest. The fewer people know what you hide, the fewer might come looking for it. "All set and done", she claims - only to once more turn towards the building, probing the magical defenses with her mind. Better safe than sorry.
She opens both arms wide at her side, and keeping Nisha to her left, Dreamy reaches out with her left hand to intertwine with the fingers on Nisha's right. It is both a simple and very friendly embrace of sorts.
With that, a moment of awkwardness ensues. Nisha's right arm is the one wrapped in the magical chains, focus of her magic; wearing a hoodie over it doesn't change that fact. If anything happens, she'd rather have it free, prepared to call forth shadows in an instant - and thus, Nisha offers her own left, awkwardly eyeing Dreamy's hand. "This one's better, if it makes no difference." She nods at her own right, pulled back intuitively. "That one's for shadow-weaving, and holding a pen. And coffee cups, but that's less poetic." She offers a smile, uncertain. All those books she read tell nothing about Dreamy's kind. For all she knows, she might break some ancient tradition.

I assumed that this doesn't change much at all - if it does, let me know and I'll change the following accordingly.

That doesn't change the end result - floating through the air with speed and grace, unaffected by the Earth's strong pull. Nisha knows how to form magic into shadowy wings, how to glide through the air when needed; but this is different. Natural. Simple, in fact, like there's nothing weird about leaving the ground at all. She lets go of the hand for just a moment, daring the city underneath to pull her back down; but grasps it firmly once more before Dreamy can take any offense. For a moment, all sorrow, worries and gloomy thoughts seem to leave Nisha's mind, and expression; only the childish wonder of witnessing the unimaginable remains. It's just a moment before she goes back to scanning the surrounding for possible threats and pondering what the immediate future has in store for them - but for the only one nearby, it's a glimpse at a past that included fewer tomes, and shadows.

""This is... different from what I've done, thus far. This'll work. Thank you." A pause. "So - I don't know what might await us there. That man... might have seen a lot, or very little." She looks over at Dreamy Starborn. "Luminary showed you where we need to be?"

Colt had been awfully silent. But that was only because he had been doing some mental comparisons with the tech. But that would be an easy job for him, especially once he could get his hands on them. Thankfully the Force of Justice had a lot of pull. He had know doubt that they could arrange to look up some evidence. And Colt was sure that if he could understand the weapons, he could give his team a good heads up on what to expect... as well as give them a good lead of who and where.

"Call Justin Case." He said to his AI. "I think he can hook us up."

Heading outside, Deb checks her directions on the phone's GPS and takes to the sky, a bright purple glow of energy being visible from quite a distance away. As she gains altitude, she smiles to herself, finding great pleasure in soaring over the California countryside. Flying like this has turned out to be one of Deb's favorite things to do ever since she became linked to the Dude. It is easy for her to become distracted, and with some effort, Deb puts her mind back to the business of this kidnapping attempt.

With her easy pace, she is pretty confident that Chaser will get to the Governor's mansion before her, but that's ok. They can go full out on a race some other time to see who's fastest. Easing her way down towards the ground, she spots Chaser and gives a wave. "Hey. Sorry to keep you waiting. Decided to take my time and enjoy my flight here. Lets go make our introductions to the family and the security detail."

"Ooooh, I like shadows! They're so mysterious and true!" Dreamy's blue eyes grow wider than usual when Nisha shares this. "In your realm, shadows Recycle? Wow. I never thought of shadows as dangerous - just what they hide. Would you please teach me later how to protect myself and others so they don't take our lifeglow?" She wasn't sure her telekinetic or telepathic powers would work on the shadows of Nisha's world, for Dreamy despite her energetic imagination, had precious little concept of magic.

Dreamy wonders inside for one long moment then reaches up and rubs the back of her fire-strewn neck. "I'm like most of my people who feel that shadows are just one of the many curiosities of the universe - as beautiful and natural as that lovely star this wonderful world of yours orbits. The Carbonites I've chatted with seem to think your star is really orange or red, but I find, like shadows, their understanding of your star is incomplete. I've visited your star; it's how I came to be here. Your atmosphere alters the color of the star. From the outside this world's atmosphere, your star is not red or orange, but white. But these are unknowns - hidden like shadows of a kind until their facts and truths are revealed!" Dreamy smiles and looks heavenward. "There is sooo much and explore and learn! Especially here on your world!"

"Sorry - try again."

"Yes! I would like that!" Dreamy tries again. Moments ago, Dreamy was cool and understanding when Chaser had not only passed on his invitation to share a bit of himself with everyone and again when the dusky-skinned and handsome Carbonite chose not to accept her Mind Link. Speaking with the mouth and tongue and hearing with the ears was what Carbonites were used to. Dreamy was on their world (did Carbonites have another world? She didn't think so given how limited their technology was at this stage, but boy had they changed so greatly in such a short time!).

Now, here was Nisha who initially resisted this... alien... form of communication which, to Dreamy, was as natural as flight or Embracing. And now, Nisha the Shadowbringer was asking to give it another go. "How sweet of her! Brave too!" Dreamy thought.

- and thus, Nisha offers her own left, awkwardly eyeing Dreamy's hand.

Not at all, but it's thoughtful of you to think of that and ask. =)

"It doesn't! Here!" Dance-like, Dreamy easily spins her body about Nisha's. There, they change hands and fly.

Nisha seems to relax and Dreamy looks very pleased indeed, her smile is wide and clear on her face to have brought joy to another, especially a new friend like the Shadowbringer. Nisha seems nice - and the Starborn felt people should always be nice to each other, or at least act toward that end. When Kairissians flew, it was a natural expression of who and what they were, just like mentally conversing, sharing memories, uncovering mysteries with their endless affection toward the universe and - unless it was threatening - all things that dwelled in it. Carbonites, Dreamy found, were especially fun to fly with. They walked everywhere. Used machines to go faster and carry more Carbonites and their many, many possessions. Only with machines did they fly or with support like Luminary and The Dude.

There was another joyous combination she was looking forward to interacting with. The Dude reminded Dreamy that she wasn't the only alien here on... what did the Carbonites call it? Earth! Yes! But the Cosmic Explorer was allowing herself to be distracted yet again.

""This is... different from what I've done, thus far. This'll work. Thank you." A pause. "So - I don't know what might await us there. That man... might have seen a lot, or very little." She looks over at Dreamy Starborn. "Luminary showed you where we need to be?"

"Umm..." Dreamy's understanding of San Francisco's geography was strong and getting better by the day, but...

I have some questions in OOC, please.

Dreamy reaches behind her neck-pouch and withdraws her (fireproof?) smartphone. "Wait, wait! I think 'I've got this!'" She tries to use her phone to find the Sacramento jail using GPS. She gets far enough that, one-handed during flight with a little help from her fine-tuned Telekinesis, she enters her password and fingerprint (two-step verification minimum, baby!) but gets lost in Google (so many ads!). Thankfully, like most of her people, the Kairissian has Eidetic Memory and here on Earth especially, she makes use of it regularly. In moments, Google is telling her via the phone how to get to the Sacramento County Main Jail.

"Okay, Alexa! That is the phone's name, right? Let's go!" Dreamy speeds off with Nisha across the Californian skies.

Easing her way down towards the ground, she spots Chaser and gives a wave. "Hey. Sorry to keep you waiting. Decided to take my time and enjoy my flight here. Lets go make our introductions to the family and the security detail."
Luminary she spotted Miles standing on the roof of a spa across the street from the governor's mansion, snapping pictures from beside the air condition unit. The speedster turned to her and met her wave with a finger fun, Go Pro still in hand. "Hey, no problem. Gave me lots of time to case the place out, know where everything is, ya feel me? Got lots of good pics."

In the blink of an eye he climbed back to the ground and began sauntering towards the Victorian structure. "Yo, so-" he began, walking backwards so he could face Luminary, "you like...walk up to places, or just kinda float?"

Luminary smiles, then makes a point to drift along in the air along side Chaser. "I can do normal walking, or this floaty-thing I'm doing now. Lets go check in with these people and see what info we can get."

She heads down to the main entrance (OOC I don't know if there is a guard gate or not, but if there is, I'd stop there first). She sets her feet down on the ground and pulls out her Force of Justice Id badge. "Good morning. I am Luminary, and this is Chaser, and both of us are with the Force of Justice. The Governor has asked that we check in with the kidnapping attempt on his daughter. Can we get a few minutes with the head of security, then talk with the family?" She does her best to be polite and professional, but Deborah can feel the butterflies dancing in her stomach as she talks.

As the two supers approach the guard at the front gate and make their introductions, the security guard is immediately on the phone and his computer to verify your identities and that you have been called in to investigate. It does not take long for a man in an expensive suit to come out to you, and he says, "Welcome, welcome. Please, come on in. I had hoped for a rapid response from the Force of Justice, but I did not expect to have someone here so fast! I am Special Agent Dennis Abrams of the Secret Service. Thank you for coming so quickly."

He leads you into the mansion, talking as he goes. "I trust that you understand the sensitive nature of this situation? If it comes out that the Governor has a child with special powers, it could throw the state into chaos as anti-paramormal groups go nuts, accusing Governor Talbert of being a mutant, and that is how he has been elected. Totally false, of course. The Governor is a skilled politician, and is very good at his job and is leading California into the future with is progressive policies."

Once you are inside, Agent Abrams stops and looks at the two of you. "What can I do to help you? Where do you wish to start?"

Dreamy and Dawn fly along towards the detention center, trusting in the GPS on the phone to help guide you. Shortly, the two of you make it there and land out front of the doors of the main entrance, catching the eye of several people walking in and out. Opening the front doors, there is a security checkpoint with metal detectors that a person has to go through before you can get into the main part of the center, with several security guards standing by. The odd appearance of the two Force of Justice members is enough to garner the attention of all the guards.

One approaches the two of you, saying, "Uh, I guess you will want to speak with Lieutenant Chapman? Can I see your Id's for biometric identification, please?"
