You could say that. They could be heros or even not heros. But they have some story behind them. Which hides their real identity and overshadows who they might really be. But when they aquire the legendary crystal they get power from the stories told of them. I thought it'd be cool if they were more in a grey area so not always evil or good, but more complex.

The legend Crystal is basically and archive of every legend ever including all of its versions and variants. (If it knows about it that is). The host of the crystal can access anything from the legend and give it form through the memoir crystal they have. So you can acquire a weapon, armor, power, summon, or a place even really. As long as it is within a legend it can be called fourth.

However, I wouldn't say it makes them all powerful, tho it is powerful. The fun is that when new legends are made, a new power is created. Also the more a legend is known, (plus the memoir maidens strength). Will determine how strong it is. The exception being is if a legend says something about you being "weak" so basically they can hold a person back too.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Tho keep in mind if you're interested to have an original character in mind. Tho having small inspiration should be okay.

If a host for example had the Arthurian Legend they could call forth anything of King Arthur’s, his allies, and his enemies?

It could even make them appear as they did in their legend too. But yes, that's correct. In theory they could summon their enemy, but that is almost a detriment to themselves. Usually they can call fourth anything from their legend within reason or whatever resonates with the host best. As they can only use so many legends. While powerful abilities must be activated and use magic energy. Basic things such as summoning a weapon or maintaining an appearance cost little to no magical energy.

The orb is a medium to deliver that ability to its host, they may only use legends that are compatible with them, which in almost every case is legends that come from them. However, some people have used legends that aren't there's but usually legends not associated reject a host. In theory if one was talented with The Memoir Crystal they could use any legend within the memoir memory bank. But alas no one is 😂😂😂 haha that or it would be very costly. I only bring this up to give a sorta understanding how it works. That's what I've thought up

So do you intend that the legends/myths that each hero draws from largely reflect those from our world? Or could participants make up a legend based on stories or events that were important in the world their character was plucked from?

No we wouldn't be using legends from our real world. But you would make one up.

Actually they would have legendary powers based on the legends that exist from them, they are the truth, the legends are merely the stories made from them, both true and untrue. Any legend that exist of them they can use as power pretty much. But they know the truth pretty much. Sometimes the legends are true, sometimes they are way off. This ability allows them to make the stories real is the best way to describe it.
