* Strength - How strong you are, how much a hit can you take. Jiu blood enhances this, but even without it you'll be enhanced naturally.
* Agility - How fast you are, how fast you can react, and general flexibility. Jiu blood enhances this, but even without it you'll be enhanced naturally.
* Blood - How potent is adjusting Jiu Blood for you? Basically how strong are your techniques when you use Jiu Blood. You get 2 techniques at the start using your element, and this is the power source behind them.
* Runes - How complicated can you make your techniques. This is the other half of casting. While any Xian can just use their element, it takes a master to fold it and increase what it can do, this also lets you get away with less blood for your techniques. If this is low, expect it to be just a big blast of whatever. If this is high, it becomes potent and complicated.
* Sanity - Drinking Jiu blood is hard on your mental state, this represents how well you can handle it, how much you can drink, and how long you can stay in a fight under its stress. Its basically your stamina. Abusing your powers with low insanity causes you to progress through the states faster. (Initiation -> Indulgence -> Madness -> Despair)

~Wan Shi, the Bull~

Fastest way forward is straight, right? What are we waiting for?
Wan Shi
刀 School of the Blade 火 Fire Element (Thunder) 引发 Initiation 1/4
Age: 18
Personality: Wan Shi can be summed up in two words: Simple and Straight forward. Its almost admirable how little thought he puts into his life. People have gotten hurt far too often overthinking a problem. If Wan Shi says he'll do it, it might as well be already done. His word being law makes him very predictable... but also makes him extremely stubborn. He once told his child hood friend he could punch a tree down. A broken wrist later he technically succeeded, though it on the second sproutling he'd chosen. The big oak proved far too muh a challenge.

Still, his stubborness is what drives him forward in the first place, and has been almost more of a problem for any Jiu he's run into than his allies, for the man won't stop. His teacher told him if he doesn't slow down, he'll reach Despair in no time. Wan Shi just shrugged, and asked if he wanted him to fight or not.

History: Born in the forest town of Qushu, Wan Shi was the son of a Xian. His father had hunted demon since childhood, and Wan Shi admired him from the bottom of his heart. It broke his heart when his father didn't come back from a mission. Wan Shi didn't wait to enroll in the same school as his father, the School of the Blade. He got as far as admission, his physical aptitude excelling to the point where even the rich in the town couldn't buy their way past Shi. But that's where his good luck ended. His family was poor without his father, and his father's blade had been lost in that last mission. It didn't stop Shi though, who picked up a large oaken club, and asked if that was good enough of a weapon. His teacher laughed, it was a solution, though few dared sully the Blood Runes of the Jiu on a mere stick, it was a first for him.

Agreeing to use that as a weapon, he got past the next test of admissions, with many glares of disgust and few friends. His would be teacher told him to follow him with a smile on his face. "Now, I don't preach favoritism, but... how would you like a real club? Its embarrassing to have a student use a mere stick." Shi was brought to the blacksmiths.

His teacher made the mistake of asking him how large he wanted it. Shi wanted to crush the largest Jiu with it he could... and didn't really stop til the blacksmith had run out of iron. A solid sheet weighing as much as Shi did, he struggled to carry it, but refused to give up.

The final test involved ingesting Jiu blood for the first time, which would turn them into a Xian... if they could keep their sanity. The first taste sent Shi mad, power and madness filling him, able to lift his club with ease, it took everything he had to calm down, his body strengthening to the taste. Able to calm himself, he found others that were unable to, and for the first time, Shi hesitated. Well, until he was stabbed by a less stable entree. Slapping him back with his club, the raging Xian now flew through the wall, twitching on the ground, left barely alive.

Since then, Wan Shi has taken pride in his new role as a Xian, and decided to travel to try and fight the Jiu in other villages.

Weapon: Club that weighs nearly as much as Shi does. It is made of iron, and covered in runes related to Leigong that tell a complicated story.
Element: Officially, Shi is under the Fire element. What his runes specialize in are the use of Thunder, using large shockwaves to compliment his clubs massive weight.
Leigong's Mace - Drinking Jiu Blood, the runes across the club began to spark and crackle, dispersing two seconds later in a massive shockwave that's comparable to a grenade going off. Its generally combined with a club strike to reinforce its strike. However, it causes the club to vibrate and hurt Shi's arms, so he can only use it two times in a fight.

Leigong's Drum - Jumping to strike Shi's club into the ground, a deafening rush of thunder is loosed, deafening anyone within hearing of Shi. The vibration it lets loose shakes all those touched, possibly stunning them for a moment, though it also stuns Shi with every use, making it a poor move against those stronger than him.

~Xie Yimu, the Bladedancer~

The more you struggle, the more pain you will feel.
Xie Yimu
刀 School of Blades 钢 Steel Element (Chains) 引发 Initiation 1/4
Age: 19
Personality: Although usually stoic and calm in appearance, Xie Yimu is actually quite a playful character, enjoying fighting and teasing others as if it was a mere hobby. Those that do know of this side of her call her mad, like a typical Xian. She cares little for the rumours and gossip surrounding her, rather she finds it amusing. She is perceptive in nature, able to perceive expressions, emotions and environmental factors that another might overlook. She has quick reflexes, but that does not help the fact that she is usually leisurely in her movements and goes about her own pace, unless it is something she is having fun/trouble with. Her laziness often finds her napping or taking strolls, usually turning up late to meetings/gatherings too. She is not particularly kind or empathetic to others, but does not mind company. She is far from trustworthy or honest, spilling lies and twisting truths however she sees fit. If you earn her respect however, she typically refrains from such actions. She is no fool to make an enemy out of someone she does not think she can beat so easily.

History: Xie Yimu was born to a wealthy family within the capitol of Wu, Xinyang. Although nowhere near as formidable as the Sun family, who were the dawning ray of hope for the land, her family was relatively well-respected by their peers. Born in that life of comfort, where the Jiu were less of a threat, Yimu lived a peaceful and relaxed life with her gushing parents and caring older brother. In a world ravaged by ruins and tragedy, such an idyllic lifestyle was not made to last. When the Jiu attacked, as unexpected as it was, her parents were unfortunately victims, torn apart limb from limb before a Xian could get there in time. Yimu and her brother, who had witnessed it all, were lucky they even made it out alive. However, for Yimu, whos family was her own world, she was devastated and angry. She raged at the Xian, believing it was his fault, believing he could have saved them. And so he returned this:

"Why didn't you save them?"

As stupid a question as it might have sounded, especially to such a young child, it resonated with something deep within her soul. She was weak. She couldn't do anything when she heard of the attack. And so, she decided to change that fact. Much to her older brothers concern and worry, she begged to become a disciple of the Xian who had told her those words. He, who had recently passed the Madness stage of his cultivation, was amused by her child self, and decided to accept her. He taught her the ways of the blade, giving her the chance to try out multiple weapons, although she preferred the longsword. He was a master of weapons, a powerful Xian named Geng Zhi. Yimu felt it was an honour to be under his teaching.

Before undergoing her initiation and truly becoming a Xian, she was made to watch as Zhi subdued a Jiu. It was one of the greatest things she had ever witnessed, a battle far out of proportion with weaponry and blood flying absolutely everywhere. She could feel the shockwave of each clash through her feet, even though she was such a far distance from the battle field. Once he had triumphed over the beast, he let out an insane cackle, as he grinded his foot against the corpses head. Yimu had watched his mind slowly errode over the years, she dreaded the day she knew, she would have to put him to rest. At the very least, she hoped that it wouldn't be until she was strong enough to defeat him. Quietly, she approached the scene, patting him on the back to awaken him from his trance. After a few moments of recollection, he ordered her to take a sip of the Jius blood.

Yimu hesitated for a mere second before sipping the small amount of crimson cupped in her hands. Immediately, she felt such an influx of emotions that the blood she had cupped had spilled to the ground, her hands now clutching her head as she crouched to deal with the new feeling taking over her body. She could feel her veins and muscles pulsing with pure power, just waiting to be spilled out onto a battlefield. Desires to destroy, ruin and corrupt seemed to overwhelm her being, the madness tearing her mind apart. She wasn't sure how long she had been curled into a ball on the blood-stained floor, or when Zhi had been sitting in front of her, but it felt as if a lifetime had passed.

"Are you done?" He asked calmly, staring her in the eye, most likely checking for traces of insanity.

"Yes." She replied in a similar manner, eager to test out the extent of her new powers.

After travelling alongside her master for a little longer, slaying a few Jiu here and there, she felt it was finally time to stretch her own wings.

Weapon: A steel longsword crafted by her brother for her 16th birthday. Runes for trap 陷阱 and hunt 狩猎 and similar characters cover the blade. It is slightly curved, which may seem an odd choice, but it allows her to shoot out chains and other protrusions at various angles. Typically, she dances around her enemies for a short while dodging and learning their attack patterns/style. After this assessment period, she summons chains that trip up the enemy, or even entangle their limbs, in order to make them vulnerable to her attacks.
Element:Her element falls under Steel, whilst her subelement is what she has named Chains. She can summon them at will after ingesting blood, able to trip up, capture and wrap her enemies in. Although chains are her specialty, she is able to manipulate steel in other forms as well, whether they be blades, barriers, spikes etc.
Li Jings Snare - Yimu summons a significant amount of sharp weaponry beneath/around the enemy(perhaps hidden beneath the ground/floor or in a wall), typically in the form of giant spikes and/or blades, which springs up and pierces the victim from numerous different angles and directions. This typically takes a short while to create, hence Yimu would need to predict the enemys movements and place it in an opportune location. The great amount of steel required for this also tends to drain her, hence she can only use it twice per battle.

Li Jings Web - Yimu constructs a large net of interweaving chains that can be thrown atop an enemy to smother them and restrict their movement. It is designed in such a way, that the more the victim struggles the more entangled they get. Due to the sharp metal protrusions that line the chains, this also cuts and wounds them the more they move about. To setup this intense array of steel, it requires concentration and a prepatory period, hence someone would most likely have to cover her in battle unless she can retreat to safety.

~Zhou Fai, The Assassin~

Measure twice, cut once
Zhou Fai
刀 School of Blades 水 Water Element (Storm) 引发 Initiation 1/4
Age: 17
Personality:
Zhou Fai is a very quiet and reserved person. He talks in a monotone voice and does not like to dwell in meaningless conversations or topics. He only talks the bare minimum by only saying what needs to be said. He is very hard to approach as he does not like to be in the company of others nor does he want to. Contradictory to is dis likeness of others, he is very grateful of the villagers in Hengzhou and cares for them as he thinks of them as his second family. He does not mind having conversations with them and is kind to them. Fai believes that without them, he would be dead.
When making decisions, he thoroughly considers the pros and cons of each one and chooses based on the choice that will benefit him the most. Fai always has a clear goal in his mind that he will strive to accomplish, even if it kills him in the process. Fai truly believes that promises and goals must be honored and completed.

Inside his collected persona, what dwells within Zhou Fai's mind and heart is a violent storm that shakes the world. His grief and thirst for vengeance cries out to him every second he's alive but Fai has managed to suppress them and keep his inner nature hidden. Rarely however, when those chains are unleashed, Zhou Fai's character completely shifts. His quiet and reserved side dissipates leaving his anger to freely control him. He forgets about the outside world and only focuses on eliminating Jiu's. if anything gets in his way whether Xian or not, he does not hesitate to remove that obstacle.

Deep down, Zhou Fai seeks for true inner peace inside him.

History:
At a young age, Fai lost both of his parents and his older brother by the hands of a Jiu. Being only a young boy, he could not fully understand the situation that was happening at the time. He only remembers his mothers last words before hiding him and a blood stained Jiu with an indistinguishable black mark on its neck. All left alone with nowhere to go, he stumbled upon Hengzhou and wandered the streets in search for food.

This was when he met his master who only goes by the name Shu. His master saw Fai's dark black eyes and saw the potential within him. After Shu took Fai in, Fai did not trust this man yet and caused many troubles for him by running around jumping from wall to wall which only made his master impressed with his agility. While still young, Zhou Fai has not yet been able to chain down his rage which caused many problems for himself and the villagers of Hengzhou. Fai would unleash many tantrums causing many objects to be broken. After learning about what happened to Fai, his master thought him how to control himself and leave the past at the back of his head. After being able to control himself, Fai had seemed to completely change. He no longer caused problems and kept to himself. Fai trained everyday pushing himself over his limit multiple times. He always thought to himself that he needed to get stronger to defeat the Jiu and that was enough to keep him going.

After several years of training at his masters place, Zhou Fai had learnt everything from his master. His master told him there was nothing more he could do for him as he as surpassed all his expectations. All that was left for him was too enroll in one of the three infamous schools. After choosing to enroll in the School of Blades, Fai's master gave him a sword that has been handed down for generations and a steel suit. Fai was told to always wear that helmet as his raging eyes and anger that dwell in them was not meant for the world to see.

After completing his series of physical and metal tests, Fai was left with the final task of ingesting a Jiu's blood. This was necessary for everyone who wanted to become a Xian and kill the Jiu. Taking a sip of the Jiu's blood, Zhou Fai instantly fell to the ground. Along with that he led out a cry as his helmet fell off. It was the first time he has ever felt this power and feeling inside of him. It felt as all the chains holding down his anger suppressed inside him has been released. After several minutes of losing himself, he was able to barely gain control over himself. He put on his helmet and now truly understood what it means to be a Xian.

Zhou Fai now is now a Xian in search of the blood stained Jiu that slaughtered his family.

Weapon:
Zhou Fai uses a steel long blade with a dark wooden handle. When ingesting a Jiu's blood, his blade turns a darker shade of black as if reacting to the blood itself. Zhou Fai wields his long sword with one hand with ease allowing free use of his another arm. His attacks with his long sword are swift and quick.

Element:
Zhou Fai's element is water and sub element is the storm, allowing him to move silently and quickly while cutting with precision and power.

Zhou Fai prefers to wait in the shadows patiently looking for the perfect opportunity to strike his enemies. He will wait as long as it takes for that time to come as he intends to finish of his enemies as quickly and effortlessly as possible. He will lurk and stalk his victims to gather information about their daily routine and come up with the most effective attack with that he has gathered.

The Storm Dwells Within
When ingesting a large amount of a Jiu's blood, Zhou Fai's inner chains become unsealed causing him to shift into a raging storm. During that time, Fai's strength greatly increases. In addition, he is able to construct swords made from pure air to use. This technique causes an unbelievable amount of strain to Fai's body and is used only in desperate times.

Kōngqì's Vision
While in an intense state of concentration, Zhou Fai is able to sense any living/non-living thing around him as if he was air itself. During this state, any small disturbances or distractions cause him to break that state of concentration. While using this technique, he cannot move.

~(Yingyue, the Butterfly)~
onmyoji_shiranui_by_asml30_dd4kidb-fullview.jpg

I'd say it's time to turn up the heat.
Yingyue
魅力 School of Charm 火 Fire Element (Lightning) 引发 Initiation 1/4
Age: Nineteen
Personality:
Outwardly, she is beautiful and graceful coupled together with her skills as an extraordinary xian charms user allowed her to gain fame and admiration from those around her. Within their school of charms, she is considered to be one of their notable users. However, to those who interacted with her further, they would learn the general perception of her differs from who she truly is. Rather than mysterious and mature, the words simple and childish are better suited with her. She may not necessarily be attached to her reputation, but she does enjoy the general’s public perception of her and therefore would behave appropriately whenever she is in public. She could be considered to be a bit of a show-off and this could be reflected in the manner of how she fights especially whenever there would be spectators, which allows her to suit her role as one of the faces of the school of charms.

She has many idiosyncrasies to that of a genius, such as the absence of common sense on many things. Though she is willing to offer pointers to her juniors, conclusively they would only end up becoming more confused and did not gain any proper advice. Her natural talent allows it to come it easy for her as she is more of act first and ask questions later. She mainly performs via instinct and as she is not as intelligent as she portrays herself to be, she lacks adequate skills to properly help others improve. Since she is more simple-minded than most, the way she perceives things is skewed from the general perspective as well. She does not view or even presume things to be impossible like the rest which gives her a frightening sense of confidence and performs acts above the common sense as she truly believes herself to be capable of doing what others may think they could not. This exudes into charisma that she carries in her day to day life which inevitably draws others to her. Her basic attitude to others is that those who treat her well, she would treat thrice as well but those who would try to harm her, she’d return back to them tenfold.

History:
Initially, she had been born into family that belong as a group of travelling performers. Since they had been traveling from place to place, it could have been assumed that she was born along the road or that they simply do not know as they have traveled from town to town and could no longer recall which town. Either way, it has not been mentioned to her or she could no longer recall it either. The group had lived happily, despite constantly moving and the dangers of the Jiu. They could only maintain the lifestyle as some of them had married Xian warriors who would protect the whole group when travelling. By the time she could walk- or perhaps even earlier than that, Yingyue had been learning her mother’s craft in dancing which she carries up to this day. This eventually gave elegance in her movements and silent footsteps in the future.

Her entire world had changed when she was six years old. The troupe may have been overconfident or underestimated the matter for what they truly is but despite the warnings of a Xian Warrior in one of the towns of Yuanxing for them to stay longer for couple of days since the forests were far too dangerous recently, yet the group persisted. The Xian Warriors within their group should ordinarily be able to handle couple of Jiu, however they were ambushed when they least expected it and the warriors' injuries had not healed as well as they expected to be. It had prevented them from fighting as well as they could like which made the fight longer and increasingly more perilous. The Jiu were different from what they normally encountered, more stronger and obstinate in attacking them. It may have been out of concern or he could not get rid of the bad foreboding in his mind, the Xian Warrior, that had warned them, had chased after them. It may have been out of concern or he could not get rid of the bad foreboding in his mind and saw carnage. Between the splatters of blood and piling of dead bodies, the ones struggling to survive were little and in between. With no haste, he joined into battle but it was too late. In the end, they may have won the battle but lost the war. They either lost them to wounds, heavy bloodless or they had digested the blood of Jiu and therefore had to be killed. Even his fellow warriors, once the battle ceased, eventually died or was consumed into madness that he had to kill them himself. As he buried the dead bodies, he had found Yingyue alive through some extraordinary miracle. Her small body was fiercely protected by her mother who had sustained all the injuries for her. The stimulation was far too much for the young child and due to the tight embrace was constricted by air that she had eventually lost consciousness in between the fight.

The Xian Warrior, later learned to be Bojing , eventually took the place of her dead parents and adopted her as his own. He had grown deeply fond of her and was fiercely protective of her, wishing that she would live a life far from the Jiu as much as possible after the incident. However, against his wishes, the young girl was deeply curious concerning the runes and the path of Xian Warrior. As it was more dangerous if she were to play around independently, he decided to enroll her to the same School of Charms as he had. He had enrolled her in hopes that she may lack the talent and satisfy her curiosity and eventually live a normal life. Through the series of admissions, he had prayed for her to fail but the more he prayed the more the deities seemed to mock and make a fool out of him. Yingyue would succeed each time and the more he prayed, the better results she had. Especially in her final test that required her to digest Jiu blood for the first time, which she took in especially well. No one knew that it may not necessarily be her first time as she may have consumed a drop back when she was younger but there was knowing as everything was covered in blood in the carnage. It may be due to her extraordinary control in Jiu blood that she has grown overconfident that if she were to consume Jiu blood more frequently than she usually does or takes larger doses that it may not be too far off for her to reach the second stage, madness.

~Battle~

Catalyst: Her common mode of catalyst are paper talismans, containing spells of varying intensity, as most charm users commonly used. Majority is kept within a pouch and a few others that she cleverly hides within her person as well. Within an emergency, a paper fan that she hides in plain sight could be used as a catalyst. The paper fan is covered back to back with intricate paintings that hide the runes, containing her more powerful spells. For her paper talismans, it is satisfactory if she throws it towards her target or area of choice while in the use of her fan, it is enough for her to activate the catalyst by clicking a special mechanism that would reveal the rune and point it to towards the direction that she wants.

Element: she belongs in the fire element with a subclass of lightning. Her proficiency in using flames are considered to be high-level even among her age group that she is more inclined to use it in a normal basis that others tend to forget she's capable of using lightning as well. She uses lightning normally in the condition of performing higher level spells and when she's incapable of dealing her opponents with her usual method.

Dance of Flames - the paper talismans could burst into flames the moment it has made contact with her opponent or it could already burst into flames within the battle. The amount of flames are proportional to the amount of talismans. The highest number of talismans that she can used at once is ten, which can only be done twice a day. The intensity of the flames is proportional to the amount of jiu blood digested though it is more possible to decrease the flames intensity than to increase it. The intensity of flames are ranked in order by the following of weakest to strongest: orange, red, green, blue and white. This is her common mode of fighting with three to five talismans at a time, intensity between orange to green. With her usual mode of fighting, she's capable of doing it five times a day, max. The amount that she's able to use may differ according to the amount of talismans and flame intensity.

Lightning Wrath - A skill that she can only use once a day or even a week, two consecutively would be pushing her limit, exhibiting more traits between indulgence and madness afterwards. This requires special talismans that were specifically made for this technique or through her paper fan catalyst. It brings down a lightning bolt to her target area, by consequence sparks could form in its surrounding area. If flames were to occur as a result, she is able to manipulate the flames to her advantage. Since she does not use this skill often, her degree of control is more lacking than her other technique. She is unable to specifically control where the lightning will strike and how intense it may be. Whenever she uses it, it brings her a quarter step closer to madness as she would lose her senses momentarily or it could affect her state of mind for the duration of the battle and even afterwards. Hence why it was advised for her not to use this technique unless absolutely necessary.

I don’t make promises. They are too often broken. I will however tell you that I’m going to try.
Kuo Jiang

刀 School of the Blade 水 Water Element (Seawater) 引发 Initiation 1/4

Age: 17

Personality: Jiang is a quiet individual. Not due to any shyness but rather a constant sense of calm and respect toward everything around him. He is a patient being, willing to take as much time as necessary to complete a task and does not like taking shortcuts. He is focused and intelligent, aware of his surroundings both in and out of combat. However due to his nature he can often be perceived as uncaring or even prideful, not butting into conversations unless he is spoken to.

There are very few things that he can call a passion aside from his technique, the others being fishing and storytelling, wrapped in a books while he waits to send his fishing spear into the depths of whatever body of water he finds fitting. When his teacher had told him the horrors of Xian’s reaching Despair, the boy could only nod. The risks of the Jiu blood are great but the flow of life is greater.

History: Born in the port town of Xianzihua, Kuo Jiang was the second eldest son of a fisherman and a seamstress, two occupations far removed from the highly revered but also highly feared Xian of Wu. As the second eldest son of four siblings, he wasn’t obligated in any way to his father’s inheritance, land, or fishing boat; all of which were going to his older brother Laquan as his birthright. However, when the boy was eight years old and his older brother was thirteen, he had run off to enroll in the School of Body and become a Xian, leaving his family behind. Thus, as the second son, Jiang began to pick up what his brother had left behind, learning to become a fisherman. While many of the children he had gone to school with idolized the Xian, hoping to train and become one themselves, no matter what the reason, he loathed them. His brother, Laquan, had left his entire family behind simply to pursue his own arrogant dream without even considering how it would affect the rest of them. This underlying contempt for the Xian was not his own however, it was that of his father who he had spent almost every hour of his day with. “Jiang. The weight of our family is on your shoulders. We are not fit to become Xian, and it’s shameful that your brother was swallowed by pride and walked down that horrible path.”

For the next six years of his life, the boy would become a teenager and learn all that there is about fishing; learning to use fishing rods, nets, and even his specialty: the fishing spear. It was around this time that his brother Laquan had stumbled back into their home one night, bruised and bloodied. Their mother had tried to attend to him, but she had been stopped by their father who simply asked the now nineteen year old Laquan to explain himself. It was then that his story, had been seared into the rest of their family, learning of the horrors of the examinees who had fallen to Despair and tried to kill the others, and how Laquan himself had been too afraid to consume the blood and was nearly killed in the process. It was then that their father had invited him to eat, and Jiang’s older brother sat down at the table and ate as if nothing had ever happened. The next day, their father informed both of them that Laquan would only inherit the house and boat, while Jiang himself would inherit the wealth. To the teen’s surprise, his older brother accepted, and his father telling him that he needed to prove that he would work for the family’s sake from now on.

This left Jiang without any purpose to look forward to, his soul still wanting to be a fisherman but his father focused on retraining Laquan. With the hours of free time he now had, he spent the days wandering markets until he had come across a storyteller who invited him into his home. He told the tale of Sun Yang, of other Xian who had made the Land of Wu a better place for all, and slowly peaked the teen’s interest in storytelling, even taking him in as an apprentice. Eventually, when Jiang had turned fourteen, the man revealed himself to be a retired Xian through a story, even brandishing his blade during the performance. The quiet boy, in that moment, had done something of his own volition for the first time, ask the storyteller to train him as a Xian. The man obliged, and when he was asked what weapon he would use, he brought the storyteller a three pronged fishing spear. Laughing, the man looked smiled, “I’ll get you something more fitting of a Xian.” While the storyteller had left to procure Jiang’s weapon, the teen had gone home to ask approval from his father, and of course he declined, memories of his eldest son leaving the family behind flooding his memory. However, Laquan stood up for him, remarking that his younger brother had done everything he was asked all of his life, and that he should have this chance. After receiving permission and having one final dinner with his family, Jiang left with the storyteller and trained for three years. At the final exam, where he and one other were instructed to ingest Jiu blood and slay a Jiu for the first time, Jiang had remembered the first story that his master had told him, and along with his partner, killed the Jiu. From that point onward, he was a true Xian, an immortal

Weapon: A Qiang with a double edged blade and blood grooves on both sides, making it lighter than a normal Qiang. Like many other Qiang, it features a tassel and a light but sturdy handle. The blade is covered on both sides with runes depicting Mazu’s anguish at the loss of her father, while the runes on the staff depict Gōnggōng’s loss against Zhurong and his anger that caused great floods.

Element: Jiang is under the Water Element. His runes specialize in the creation and manipulation of Seawater, using its extremely high concentration of salt to cause rapid increases in blood pressure, halting blood flow as well as causing dehydration.

媽祖 Mazu’s Tears - Drinking Jiu Blood, the runes on the blade will glow. During this, the blade of the Qiang will slow the blood flow of whomever is stabbed with it, seawater entering and clogging their bloodstream, slowing rejuvenation, movement, and natural healing

龚工 Gōnggōng’s Anger - By spinning the spear rapidly, it will create and maintain a high speed torrent that, once the blade has stopped spinning, will release the torrent to strike whomever is in its path. Due to the power of this technique, Jiang can only pull it off twice in battle

School of Charms Water and Ice 引发 Initiation 1/4
Age: 18
Personality: Calm, dexterous, down-on-earth, responsible and curious about people’s resolution to become a Xian. She trains hard to keep herself and her family alive without having to rely on others. She rarely expresses affection, but cares for her family and those she feels connected to. She hates losing self-control, but also refuses to die without trying her best to survive.

History: Mei grew up happily in Jinhar with her parents, siblings, uncle and his wife. She admires her uncle Jianwei and his wife Yue who were both capable Xian. The wife reached madness when Mei was 12. The death of his wife drove Jianwei into alcoholism, he slept through all calls for duty until a Jiu’s raging attack struck the village. He died succeeding in defending the village, a sad yet resolved smile remained on the dead’s face. Jianwei himself did not have much time left before reaching despair.

Mei learnt 2 things from that incident. First, the path of a Xian only brings about misfortune, and mundane humans are mere fireflies under the claws of Jiu. Second, no one is strong enough to protect others forever.

At the funeral of her uncle, she encountered his acquaintance Shi Ci. After a series of events deepened her understanding about her uncle’s past life, she decided to receive guidance from Shi Ci while preparing for the entrance exam of the School of Charms. Mei currently lives alone in the capital for Xian's training. She always wishes that someday, without the Jiu, all villages can grow as half-freely as the capital, and people get full access to things and opportunities that villages of a few thousands people can't provide.

Shi Ci - Shi The Trickster

"Sometime what you seek to slay doesn't even existed in the first place"
Shi Ci
School: Charm Fire (Light) Initiation 1/4
Age: 29
Personality: By appearance, Shi Ci looks uninteresting and plain, and if someone says it to him, Ci wouldn't be mad about it. Ever since he was still a child, he has been like that, he always was aware of where he's and never bothered about what people thought of him. As he grows older, Ci actually prefers not to be noticed as much as possible, especially bout being a Xian.

But despite his contrasting appearance, Shi Ci is known for his capable intelligence and vision. He always comes up with more creative ways to evaluate his abilities, making him much more unpredictable from time to time. In combat, he isn't as excited as other Xian but instead trying to keep distance and analyze the situation as much as he can. During his time as a Xian, Ci also studies and looks for ways to improve a Xian ability and health. Because of this, sometimes he is looked down on by some of the traditional Xian but respected by modern Xian.

During his time of training, Shi Ci wasn’t like any other students who liked to focus on offensive styles. Ci knew too well he wasn’t as strong or quick as the other, and the same time didn’t believe in raw violence to be the best attribute of a Xian. He instead focused on studying runes, supportive and manipulating technique. Ci was patient, he believed if he could manipulate his surrounding, he could turn any battle to his favor without fighting. When graduated, Ci usually played a supporting role in any Xian unit, luring and setting trap for the Jiu and letting his comrades finish them off.

History: Shi Ci was born a third child of the Shi family, a poor family in Yuanxing. At a young age, Ci was an intelligent child, but his appearance being plain and weak physically made him unpopular comparing to his brothers. Despite so, Ci was happy, he was not interested in attention toward himself and the same time loved his brothers. Among his brothers, Ci’s oldest brother, Shi Hui, was the one Ci admired the most. Hui was the most talented child of the family, kind, smart yet a genius swordsman. Ci spent his child hood looked up to Hui.

When Ci was 14, the town where his family lived was attacked by the Jiu for the first time. Fortunately, before it could become a massacre, an unit of Xian came to aid and protect the town. Leading the Xians rescuers, there was master Zhang Jianwei . Master Jianwei soon took noticed in the Shi family’s oldest child, Shi Hui. To the point he asked the family permission to take Hui under his wing to train him to become a Xian once the fighting done. Ci’s family was excited for Hui to become the first of the family to ever join the honourable Xian warriors. But then things didn’t go as they expected. In the final battle again the Jiu, Hui was attacked by a Jiu when it attempt to go for his family. He fought bravely but without the Xian’s ability, Hui didn’t stand a chance. When they came to his aid, it was too late.

The death of Shi Ci’s brother hurt him greatly. He felt guilty, anger toward himself. The pain and sadness became motivation, a responsibility for him. After the incident, Ci asked master Zhang to take him as his student. Jianwei turned Shi Ci down the first time, but seeing the kid determination more than once, he decided to accept Ci as his pupil.

Shi Ci followed master Zhang for quite a long time until he was old and well-prepared enough to be accepted into School of Charm. After graduated, Shi Ci still followed master Zhang and became a part of his unit for a while before leaving and working on his own.

After a long while, Ci heard about the death of master Zhang, he quickly left his post and returned to attend the funeral. At the funeral, he met his master's niece, the young Zhang Mei, for the first time. She wanted to be a Xian as well, and said that she would require his guidance. Ci was reluctant, he didn't think he could handle such responsibility, especially with the recent depressing death of master Jianwei . But then Ci saw something within the girl, not just something similar to himself back when he was young, but she was a lots like master Jianwei as well. In the end, Shi Ci agreed to take her under his wing.

Catalyst: Ci's catalyst is are gemstone which can be used to store light energy. These gems have runes written on it and while a gem contacting with any source of light (mostly from the sun), it will absorb the light and Ci can either release the light energy source (for offensive purpose) or use the light source within to create imagery and cause illusion.
The material of the gem determine how much energy they can hold and how long they can hold before shattered. Ci usually uses cheap mineral he can find, which would be broken after one use. However, precious gemstones such as jade or pearl can be use for much longer and hold much more power.
This explain why Ci always carries a pouch of rocks minerals with him.
Element: Knowing that he doesn't have a talent for inflicting pain to others, fate was kind enough to put him under Fire and grant him the talent to manipulate Light. Ever since Ci discovered his talent for it, he's quite happy and excited about it. He spent most of his youth learning thousands of way of making illusions, techniques to duplicate imagery to manipulate and trap his opponents.
Dazzling Light: Shi Ci releases all the energy the gem absorbed, launching a powerful blast of light around all the area that surround it. This technique doesn't inflict damage to anyone effected but would cause anyone surround to be stunned or dizzy, staying too close to the gem when this technique executed can even be blind.
Ray of Light: Shi Ci channel the energy from the gem into one ray of energy projection and fire it forward. This ray of light energy can pierce through the victim and cause incineration.

Liu Chang's Face Claim.png
Everyone seeks to gain something from others to better themselves. It is much easier to do so cordially than aggressively
(Liu Chang)
體 School: Body 木 Wood (Parasitic and Poisonous Plants) 引发 Initiation 1/4

Age: 20
Personality:
The impression that one first gets from Chang is calm elegance and good manners. He has a charm that captures people with his presence and soft speech. However, this pleasant disposition is superficial, a result of a calculating character. He is a man of a sharp mind which allows him to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and make decisions that will handle the situation at hand. He is resilient: one he sets his mind to a goal, he will use any means necessary to attain it. His mind and adaptability extend beyond to his relations with others, with quick wit and agreeability that enables him to connect to people and stay within their favour. However, it is not above him to use his tact to leverage others to fulfill a role in his own selfish schemes, even if he may hurt them, or ride on their coattails. He enjoys receiving attention from those around him; without it, his insecurities hidden within begin to ferment. He is fragile; he sense any affront to his appearance of sublimity, he may let his excited emotions blind his rationality and make rash decision to disprove that flaw (such as a criticism) or becomes dramatic. This arrogance will not allow him to go down in an argument with a fight.

History:
Chang was born in the port city of Yuanxing as the only child to a successful family of merchants who made their wealth trading goods across the Land of Wu. Despite their relative affluence, they received the judgment and disrespect of their neighbours. Unlike every other group in society, they do not provide any of their own profit to the commonwealth, merchants simply leeched off others around them, trading what is not their own for their own personal gain. At least, that is how everyone else around them saw them. Chang lived relatively well growing up materially, but with the scorn of his fellow townsfolk on simply for his lot as a member of the merchant class, he could not fully enjoy himself.

Though never having seen them in real life, Chang grew up hearing tales of the "Immortals" and the Jiu against which they battle from the townspeople who revered them and the merchants who travelled with his father. His father hoped to eventually accumulate enough wealth to buy property to become a respectable landowner but Chang saw that to truly gain the respect he wanted, it was inevitable to become one the Xian he had heard of.

He tried to persuade his parents to allow him to pursue this path, but his parents vehemently opposed, saying that it was too risky of a way of life. The life of a merchant where they earned a living without having to labour themselves was the perfect suit for them and for their only son. They feared the thought of having the heir to their fortunes die at the hands of a Jiu or become mad as the Xian who have been known to succumb to Despair. However, being ever identified as a weasel would not be a life that he would

When grew older, he began to assist his father in his trade ventures. He would accompany his father and his caravan as they travel along trade routes picking up and delivering items from other caravans or made, possibly sneaky, exchanges. In his travels, he was able to witness in action the legendary Xian and the Jiu that he had only heard of growing up as they journey through dangers paths, and seeing for himself what made this Xian so respected only strengthed his resolve to become one of them. So, at the age of seventeen, when his father’s caravan was to the capitol Xinyang, he snuck away to enrol in one of the Schools in the city.

On his escape, he found himself to be in the presence of a Jiu. He was far hidden from the sight of Jiu, but he knew that if he remained he would be soon discovered. When he was about to make a run for it, a Xian came to fight against the Xian. The Xian seemed to be of the School of the Body because she released Earth/Lava-based attacks simply with the movement of her body as he speared and killed the Jiu. Seeing the harmony of her element in direct connection with her body convinced him to enrol in the School of Body.

Fighting Style: As he is lacking in close-combat, he tends to avoid the risk of direct attack as a long-range fighter. Powered by the runes on his body, he uses his agility to evade enemy offence and release his long-range offense attacks from his body through which defeats his opponent passively. However, close-range offence is not out of the question as he may use his defence to advantage.
Element: Chang is under the Wood Element, specializing his plant parasites and poison. Empowered by Jiu blood, he can cause his body to mimic certain characteristics of various parasitic and poisonous plants
Poison Coat - Jiu's blood allows him to secrete a sticky protective oil like urushiol from his skin that easily attaches to anything that comes into contact with it. If his urushiol (from his skin or through his clothes) contacts with another’s skin, the oil seeps into it and causes severe rashes, hives, and blisters. (However, there is the narrow chance that oil can be washed off with soapy water before it quickly gets into the skin)

Mogwai’s Hair - Hair grows out as dodder vines that attaches itself to a host and wraps around it and insert roots into the vascular system of the host and steal the host's life force (the Jiu's blood). However, when his hair finds a host, they will behind to fall out one by one from his head, rendering him bald. From this point, powered by what it steals from its host, his separated hair will autonomously spread and smother the host until it eventually dies when it will then begin to find another host to attach itself to before it dies. This attack can only be used once a day as his body takes the time to grow new hair.
