It was chaos, chaos all around. This fight would determine what would happen to the Underbelly, and for future events and their footholds on other events. Orcus chuckled evilly as he held his blue hued sword in his hand, looking back at Vengron who stood at the top of the stairs, " Kill the Champion and cult! " Vengron roared in anger as he raised his axe into the air, " Leave the others! " Vengron growled as knights ran on into the arena, flooding the arena as Orcus raised his hand and the bodies around the arena began to rise up in place, more than the knights there was. Orcus had raised his own army within a moment, the knights and undead began to clash. Auregnog in the confusion swung his axe and cleaved three of the surrounding undead around him into pieces, he then turned and jumped high into the air. He flew up high then landed inside the arena, his chest was caved in a little but with Victorique's [Investigation D] she would see that his chest had some sort of blue hue coming from within. It could be why he was acting so weird and damaged at the same time.

Although when he landed and faced them, he was looking down at Lykra behind the group who was healing her wound with her blood magic that Auregnog gave her, she got to her feet and saw Auregnog walking towards them. Arthur pushed Victorique as he faced the Champion, he can't say he wasn't scared of this hulking knight coming straight for them, Arthur jumped up into the air about 9 feet (274cm) up while his arm glowed red, " Fall! " Arthur growled as he conjured a strange volley of small spirits and threw it down at the Champion who tried to block the attack but instead the ball separated into five spirits that got close to him and began to attack him. [Minion Throw] As Arthur came on down to the ground, he stuck his ghastly arm out and growled, " For the sake of the Underbelly, come to me... " Arthur whispered as in his hand, out of thin air a tommy gun appeared, [Spiritual Ordnance: Adept]. Clenching it and aiming it at the Champion as his minions attacked the champion, Arthur began to fire off rounds at the champion, whether they struck his minions or not did not matter, Arthur could always make more. His eyes staring down the Champion, now more confidant.

Around the group, undead began to jump down from the stands into the arena, shambling towards the group with their hands up and faces hungry for flesh.

Orchid was ready when all hell broke loose. Zombies and knights and Auregnog were going nuts here, and Orchid really, really wanted to get the hell out of dodge. But the only way out was through a sea of bodies and blades, and Orchid couldn't really see how they could get across without getting caught unless someone suddenly had a Dust of Disappearance or could teleport. Flourishing her weapon, Orchid knew that the only way out was through fighting. When the champion charged at them, Orchid made sure to catch Victorique after Arthur pushed her out of harms way. "Boss, we're in a tight situation right now so stay safe. Keep your eyes peeled for any openings we can use to get out of here, or failing that a weakness we can exploit to take out the champion, duke, or that lich." Once Orchid put Victorique somewhere safe from the fighting, she turned towards her enemies.

The first and main one Orchid noted was Auregnog, who Arthur was currently distracting. He was by far the most immediate threat here, however there was no way Orchid was going to fight him upfront alone. Maybe if she and Dayle were teaming on him she might take that bet, but even with Arthur's ghostly mooks Orchid didn't think her odds against the champion was great. Not only that but there was also cult zombies coming after them. Not as much of an immediate threat as Auregnog was, but at the same time still a problem they shouldn't ignore. If they were going to try and deal with the champion as a group, they need to clear the area of peons first. Fortunately it does seem like most of the cult were fighting the Ryken Knights, so as long as their group doesn't end up getting into that tangle, they should draw too much zombie attention. So with a plan in mind, Orchid leapt towards the zombies, her blade sharp and angled to cleave some heads.

These zombies look relatively new. The decay hasn't set in, but they're obviously murdered townsfolk. Orchid doesn't know much about necromancy but knew that for the most part zombies like these were the easiest since they were made of fresh bodies, plus none of these zeds were armored. She had little issue cutting them down one at a time, her blade cleaving off limbs and the hammer smashing skulls with mechanical ease. The zombies weren't exactly trying to protect themselves after all, and once you got over the fear of walking corpses trying to swarm you they were easy to take down for any experienced warrior. What caught Orchid's eye were the ones who looked more decayed. Contrary to what one might think, the "older" zombies tend to be strangely more competent. Orchid isn't sure if this is a product of the necrotic magic or maybe just because older zombies tend to be kited out with actual equipment, but at the very least they were smart enough to dodge. Orchid knew she couldn't reliably go after them while swarming with mooks, so she needed to clear the area to get rid of all distractions.

Orchid has had a technique she's been practicing for a while now, as she was trying to understand how exactly magic worked in this world. Physical skills, even crazy anime ones, came to her easily enough, but actual magic required more technical knowledge that she had the money or attention to obtain. So she's been learning magic in a more brute force manner, relying on simple warrior rituals, a bit of blood sacrifice, and sheer grit. Feeling blood dripping down the shaft of her poleaxe, Orchid scooped up as much as she could, tightening it in her hand. "Luj Bloghash" She could feel an intense heat in her hand, and for a moment it almost felt unbearable. But she held onto this flame, knowing that this was how such magic worked: If she couldn't handle the pain than she wouldn't be able to use it. With a quick and well practiced motion, Orchid released the blood from her hand, coating the nearby zombies. Suddenly that blood bursts into flames, setting them alight, melting flesh from bone. Orchid followed up with her poleaxe, cleaving through the horde in front of her and coating the business end with a blood-red flame.

"MY NAAAAAAME! IS ORCHID, BLADE OF VICTORIQUE! AS I BREATH, YOU! SHALL NOT! PASS!"

There was no time to think. The moment an undead got near to him, Dayle gave them a meaty wallop with his fist covered in chains. Roy stuck near Dayle and slashed at the undead coming their way (Basic Swordsmanship). The both of them made sure that they were close to the others. The both of them especially cover Victorique, who seemed to be not the type to fight. "Fuck these ghouls! I can't stand their putrid smell!" Dayle complained, flaring his aura as his body starts to exude heat, coating him in a protective barrier (Can't Touch This).

That's when he noticed a group of people appear on one side of the arena. Familiar red themed outfits adorned these people, and there were about 25 of them rushing inside. "Those buggers gave me a back up?" Dayle muttered as the new group of people did not completely dive forward, opting to maintain their position as they fend off against the undead, clearly avoiding the knights and letting the undead take care of them. They seemed to have not noticed Dayle from the sheer amount of chaos in the Arena. Seeing Orchid let loose and doing her job protecting Victorique, Dayle felt reassured about his company. "Listen, all of you!" He spoke. "Things are looking kinda dicey, so we need to breakthrough and regroup with allies! Staying isolated from the rest is not going to be good for us!"

As for as he could tell, the four of them was in the disadvantage. They were beset on all sides with enemies, and the allied groups were a bit of a distance away. They can only hold on for so long, and if they want to win this war, then they are going to need to bolster their numbers.

Invoked Abilities:
Dayle:

Well, her words had certainly done something. There was a fair bit of chaos erupting all around, to the point where it was a bit tough to keep up with it all. That said, it sounded like Vegron was not going to fight them or Arthur's gang, which was a big win. Going up against both the knights and cult would've been a death sentence, now they only had one of those to deal with. Even amidst the chaos, however, she managed to spot something. “The champion has something implanted into his chest! It might be what's controlling him!” She realised that was probably also what Clover had been after. Come to think of it, where had that one gone? Victorique wasn't sure.

To her surprise, the champion came for them, only to be intercepted by Arthur, who was casting some pretty fancy magic. It almost looked like he'd be able to hold his ground against the champion, although the large amounts of undead jumping down and heading for the rest of them were concerning.

As she got tossed around between Arthur and Orchid, she was too focussed on trying to assess the situation to even care all that much. It was a bit weird to be told to stay safe, but it was what it was. She's already pointed out what she'd spotted with the champion, so hopefully that'd pay off somehow. For now, the Orc was busy dealing with undead. Upon Dayle's suggestion, she had an idea. “I might be able to trap a whole bunch of them in my Pocket Dimension for a while, to give us some time to make it over to Arthur's gang or to the knights. I've never tried it before, but if it works, they should be rendered useless for a while. I could even try it on the champion himself, but I've got no clue if it'd hold him.” The idea was pretty out there, but it might be worth a shot.

For now, however, she wanted to get a bit more of a grasp of the situation. Trusting on Orchid, Dayle and Roy to keep the undead off of her, she used her [Ultimate Detective] to figure out more of the situation. How many cultists were there, how many of them were 'strong' and how many were just 'grunts', how many of Arthur's gang was there, were Clover and Xix still sticking around somewhere, how many Ryken Knights were there with Duke Vegron, was there any weakness visible in this incredibly creepy Orcus dude... There was a lot she hoped to be able to figure out, but any information she could gather would be welcomed. After all, she was the only one not preoccupied with fighting thanks to the others defending her.

They were surrounded and all hell had broke loose, why the hell was a duke here, and why the hell did that cult lunatic turn into a monster? His brain was spinning and everybody started to spring into the action, he had to focus on what was in front of him and forget the thinkin work for now. His body crouching low as black smoke flared from his nostrils. There was alot of killin to be done, though he 'sposed they weren't alive anyways. His body crouching low as he looked toward Vido and Lunes, they were an effective pair. He didn't know what drove them, but he couldn't allow more innocents to die if he had the strength to stop them-

"And you do" spoke a voice that was no his own. He didn't understand, but it had to be related to what he had become in this world. His whole body felt like a weapon...or a shield. He would pay them back by stopping all this at once, and that required more than just a single crew.
"Things are looking kinda dicey, so we need to breakthrough and regroup with allies! Staying isolated from the rest is not going to be good for us!"
Shatter Shard Shatter Shard
Wirejaw heard the sound of a strong voice, commanding troops, allies, and friends alike. It was the first time he heard Dayle, and his slit eyes swiveled over toward The Red Star. He knew how well his own people could handle themselves, but this amount of zombies could overwhelm anyone. He saw an orc was dealing with the most immediate threat alongside the man called 'Arthur', he had a made off with a scar, and knew this warrior could slay this arena alone. If she or anyone stood a chance, it had to be together.
"Vido, Lunes! Ahm gonna help out the others so we can fight that big sunnuva bitch tagether. We ain't survivin nothin with him still kickin. Please stay alive ya hear?"

He called to them, He took off without another word, a fully bodied sprint toward Dayle. They were all fucked if he didn't do something more than a little crazy. The dragonborn' size betraying his abnormal speed as dust and debris flew behind him from the impact. The sounds of the arena like a blur
“The champion has something implanted into his chest! It might be what's controlling him!”

“I might be able to trap a whole bunch of them in my Pocket Dimension for a while, to give us some time to make it over to Arthur's gang or to the knights. I've never tried it before, but if it works, they should be rendered useless for a while. I could even try it on the champion himself, but I've got no clue if it'd hold him.”

He didn't pretend to understand the words he picked up on, nonsense about traps and pocket dimension, but whoever these folks were they were the real deal. He did at least understand the champion was being controlled somehow, so they haven't even been fighting a willin man? It caused that white hot anger to once again flood his system. He couldn't lose control of himself lest he get everyone else killed.

Dayle, Roy, and the rest of his company saw a massive scaled being sprinting...toward them? There was a moment of panic wondering if this was another enemy coming for them, but those worries were dashed as he leaped up into the air; his gathered momentum causing him to spin forward and crash into the horde of undead in front of Dayle; his claws grinding through bone with little effort, laughter reverberating from his barrel chest. His foot smashing a skull as he stood up and tipped his hat toward Dayle.

"Names Wirejaw, Ah like yer plan of regroupin an figured ah'd lend a hand. We gotta deal with the champion otherwise we're fucked, if we round our allies up. ah reckon we might stand a three legged dog of ah chance"

The Bloody Defiance

1661651191673.png

Orchid sliced through many bodies of undead as they came, nothing but groans and roars of the undead rang through Orchid's ears and blood flying into the air was all she could see. The orc would be covered in blood and gore as more and more came. Her blade ignited in the air, ablaze with flame, as it continued slicing and hacking through, now causing bodies to burn. With her weapon still on fire, the orc would call, stating she was the blade of Victorique. Dayle, along with Roy, would defend against the undead, creating a barrier of blades that destroyed the undead bodies around, but they just kept coming, with the amount of death that was in the air, it seemed hopeless... Until there was a cry of a small militia, the Red Stars have come to help secure The Bloody Defiance. With the Red Stars taking on the undead in the stands above them, taking off pressure from the group in the middle as they were able to garner some attention to them.

Wirejaw's heroic entrance had him destroy a gang of undead before Dayle and Roy, stating his name, Dayle would see a familiar face behind Wirejaw, seeing his former friend now turned undead. Zeke. It was Zeke before Dayle, Roy and now Wirejaw. His face had one of malice, eyes were purple but dead, his stomach was slice wide open as his intestines were hanging out and dragging across the concrete underneath them. His lips were covered in fresh blood and on his chin was dried blood. His skin had begun to decay a bit, but he still showed signs of freshness. This was Zeke coming for Dayle, whether it be fate for the two to meet again or a possible punishment to Dayle for bringing them down here in the first place, who could say? It was up to Dayle to determine.

As for Victorique, her words rang out but with the noise of battle and chaos, no one would really hear her, she spoke blankly into the chaos that had consumed them. Her [Ultimate Detective B] would have shown her the battle around them and she would see almost everything, it was like time came to a slow. With the undead, Victorique would count... Too many to actually count, they would just replace themselves, the number was in the four hundreds, but she would there were different undead with the massive arena they were in. There was about fifteen different looking undead, more decayed and had these weird chains on their wrists. Orcus, being the head of the Blue Viscera Occult, taking on Duke Vengron himself. With Arthur taking on the Champion with his spirits, his gang was in the stands, there looked like there was ten of them, the most noticable ones were a big half orc with two greatswords, a hooded woman with a bow, the large Lizard that leapt into the arena to help Orchid, Dayle, Roy and Arthur, and a strange looking Ratkin that looked in his years but he had a backpack on that looked like some sort of contraption. The group were fighting off the undead that came towards them, the half orc being the best with his two greatswords, easily slicing through bodies. For the Knights, there were about fifty knights that were fighting Orcus' undead, then Duke Vengron, the massive noble taking on the Cultist Leader, Orcus, the two were exchanging fierce blows that would become easily blocked by one another. Now with her examination of Orcus, she would see that Orcus was quite aware of his surroundings, when a knight came behind to try and strike the undead, Orcus twirled his blade in the air in his exchange with Vengron, which sliced the head off of the knight. Orcus wouldn't go down so easily; he even twisted his head towards Victorique as he noticed she was staring him down. His jaw opened up as if he was laughing, but with the cries of battle she wouldn't hear it, or she would hear it barely. It's haunting tone.

Orcus looked like he had no weakness, at least right now, his blade was one made of blue magic that manifested into a real weapon, clashing with Vengron's large axe that was able to push his weapon to the side, it was clear that Vengron was outclassed by this undead and he was just messing with the noble. As for Clover, the halfling would see that she was actually very close by, she was near the champion and Arthur, she was in her mist form, approaching the champion from behind to attack. Xix was in the stands, helping the knights take on the undead. Lykra was on her feet, getting ready to help Arthur take on the champion as she had conjured a blade of blood, her own blood, running pass Victorique once the halfling came back to reality and it began to move again. Arthur was firing at the Champion, who easily sliced through the spirits he had conjured at the Champion. Auregnog moved forward to attempt to strike at Arthur, but Clover appeared into reality from her mist form and had jumped onto the Champion's back, wrapping her chain kunai around his neck to pull him backwards. The champion took a step backwards, surprised from the sudden attack. Arthur saw his chance and aimed his weapon in a precise manner, taking a few shots at his chest plate. [Linked Shots - F] Taking two shots at his chest that was able to do some damage and further degrade his plate with the acid from the spirits. His chest was now wide open with a glowing blue emitting from within.

Victorique would see a floating amulet there, ready for the taking, this amulet looked like is what was giving Auregnog power, although it looked cracked.

Victorique was very glad she'd taken some time to carefully observe her surroundings. As chaotic as they were, she now saw a bit of order in it. She was too far away from most folk to make herself audible, so she only had Orchid to talk too. She'd parkour up onto the Orc's shoulder and sit there like a parrot if that's what it took to get some information across in this mess of a situation. “See the undead with the chains on their wrists? Try to focus on those! If you're able to get close enough to our allies, tell them to do so the same!” She knew there had to be something that kept resurrecting new undead like a flood and she'd put her money on the idea that those chain-wristed undead had something to do with it.

The duke and cult leader were evening it out for now, even if it was solely due to the cult leader toying around, which was a good sign. It'd buy them some precious time, for as long as it'd last. During that time, if they could bring down the champion and reduce the undead numbers, they'd have a chance at success. Success being solely based on getting out of her alive. The cult leader's weird laugh was creeping her out to her core. They'd have to act quickly, as the better their condition was by the time the cult leader grew tired of toying with Duke Vegron, the better their chances of survival would be. Right now, they were being worn down at rapid pace...

That's when she spotted the latest attacks on the champion had left something in the open. The blue glow she'd seen before, originating from an amulet. An instinct, or perhaps it was just a death-wish, suddenly gave her an idea. She gritted her teeth, was she really going to do this? Yes. She nearly died just moments ago, how much worse would it be to nearly die a second time? “If what I'm about to do gets me killed, feel free to take your payment from my remains. Hopefully this will be what saves us though.” She said towards Orchid. “That said, I'm going to need you to throw me directly at the Champion. Just make sure to aim exactly where I tell you to aim.” Victorique wasn't sure how precise the Orc was, but perhaps giving her the right directions and pointing it out meant all the Orc had to do was provide the force and muscle. Whilst Victorique's own precision wasn't much to write home about, she did have amazing senses and she did have another trick in her book.

After all, with how dangerous this plan was, Victorique used her [Precognition F] to try to predict the course of events for the next few seconds. Then, she would pick the most optimal angle and time, aiming to be thrown near the amulet. “Now!” She'd yell, upon finding the moment least likely to result in immanent death. She'd use [Halfling Parkour C] to make sure she landed with her feet against the champion's chest, where she'd quickly reach for the amulet. If she couldn't reach or pull it loose, she'd open up a small (F) Pocket Dimension to collect it instead. After that, she'd use the [Wall Bouncing F] from her parkour, using the champion himself as a wall to quickly bounce off of his chest and hopefully yank the amulet off of him whilst doing so. From there, she'd make sure to keep up her parkour to get behind, Dayle, Roy, Arthur and/or Wirejaw as quickly as possible, hopefully not dying to something first. Her dress was pretty sturdy, but she didn't wish to test out just how sturdy it was.

Upon making it to the others, she'd hopefully be able to spread her message from before. “There's a few undead with chains around their wrists. They might be the original cultists or something used to keep summoning new undead. If we focus on them, we might stand a chance.” She could still be wrong, but it was the best shot they had right now.

With both Dayle and Roy fending off against the undead, one particular someone managed to join his little group with a spectacular entrance; someone who looked like a reptile merged with a human body. "Who in the fuck are you?!" He was guarded, but as the reptile introduce himself as Wirejaw, he loosened his nerves and scanned around. "Yeah, Wirejaw, we're in the middle of something, Although I'd like help, I-" Dayle's words were cut short when an undead shambled right in front of them. Its face was a familiar one, and Dayle had known this face for many years. Zeke, once his trusted subordinate and friend, now just a walking husk of a person. "Zeke..." For a moment, his confidence faltered. This person in front of him was a testament to his failure, one that costed him dearly. His hands shook, unsure on what to do, and time slowed down as his mind raced.

"Sir!" Dayle snapped back to reality, swiveling his head to the side. Roy had recently slashed an undead down, his whole front starting to look more and more gruesome from the flesh and blood that splattered on him. "There's nothing we can do! Zeke's gone, and you know that!" Dayle looked back at his old friend, as the fire within him slowly burned again. "Right..." Clenching his fist, he wound up his arm, and muttered sorrowfully. "I'm sorry buddy..." before he delivered a heavy blow to Zeke's chest. "...but I cannot condone mutiny." Just as he did so, Roy came in and brandished his claymore. "You were supposed to pay for my drinks...!" He complained, gritting his teeth as if not to let his emotions loose. "Why did you have to die, bastard!" He yelled, beheading Zeke once and for all.

Dayle and Roy panted, the stress from seeing their undead comrade taxing their mind, but there were no time to rest. Victorique deduced a plan, and shared with them her theory. Looking at the distance, both of them saw the undead with chains. "Fuckers stole my schtick!" Dayle complained, before turning at the Red Stars still fending off undead and keeping an entrance clear. "HEY, YOU LOT!" He yelled with all his lungs, earning the attention of one of them. "THERE! GET 'EM!" He once again yelled, before turning his attention back to his immediate surroundings. The Red Star that heard him relayed what he saw to his group, and the rest of the Red Stars visibly turned their attention towards the chained undead. Seemingly as if they have decided on something, the Red Stars began making their way to them. It was the boss' orders, and they'd be damned if they're going to let him down.

When he heard Victorique's outlandish plan, Dayle had no choice but to harden himself as he turned his head towards Wirejaw and bellowed. "You wanna be useful, lizard boy?! Then start throwing hands! Clear a path for the shorty!" He loosened his chains before declaring with a manic grin — "Let it..." — and flailed them wildly to clear the way "...fucking RIP!" (Catch 'em Lackin). Meanwhile, Roy tried to defend his immediate area from the undead. (Basic Swordsmanship)

Green turned into red as Orchid hewed through the undead horde, her blade drenched in so much blood it's flame went out. Though she was busy defeating as many zombies as she could, she could feel the tension in her blade: that previous attack had done some serious damage to it and it was only a matter of time before it would shatter. "Dammit. After this job I really need to look into upgrading my shit." Orchid thought to herself as she continued to cut down the undead hordes. Things honestly weren't looking great until there was an unfamiliar battlecry. Orchid feared that the Rykan knights might've just gained some reinforcements, but it looked like they were Red Stars. While she wasn't entirely certain if they were here to help or harm them, they were at least thinning out the zombies above, preventing most of them from dropping down and attacking her and the group. So she'll take whatever help she can.

That being said these undead hordes felt infinite. When one was cut down, another simply pushes past. She wished she could stack the bodies into a wall to keep them at bay but alas, such necromancy wasn't within Orchid's ability. "Goddamn going Dynasty Warriors on these motherfuckers, where are they coming from!?" She grits her teeth and was simply going to commit to the slaughter when she felt something jump onto her shoulder. Orchid was about to throw them onto the ground and stab them when she heard Victorique's voice. "Oh! Smart thinking boss! Aye, I'll spread the message asap!" Scanning the battlefield Orchid did see some of the chained zombies Victorique mentioned. They were deep behind waves of zombies however, so Orchid would need to dive deep to get to them. But before Orchid could engage, Victorique had another crazy idea. She needed Orchid to throw her at the champion. Orchid took a brief look at the champ and noticed something glowing from his chest. It clicked in Orchid's head what Victorique planned to do and ordinarily, Orchid would've just said no. Orders or not Orchid wasn't about to throw her client into a literal meat grinder withing getting paid for it first. And even though Victorique said Orchid could just loot Victorique for her money, Orchid had doubts her client actually had much valuable on her and plus, Orchid just didn't want to see Victorique dead.

However orders were orders, and plus as much as Orchid has been protecting Victorique, the little lady was a smart lass and quick as a whip. If anyone had the quickness to rip out an exposed heart from a robotic killing machine, it would be Victorique. Certainly better than Orchid throwing her body onto his blade in the hopes of slowing him down. So disengaging from the zombies to get some space, Orchid balanced the halfling in her hand, looking at the Champion. He was busy trying to kill Arthur, just as Clover came out of nowhere and used some chains to hold him back. This gave Arthur and chance to blow a few more holes into the champion and expose that glowing blue thing even more. This was Orchid's chance. "Get em boss!" Mustering all the strength she had, Orchid threw Victorique at Auregnog, putting in as much strength as she could to give Victorique as much speed as she could muster, but still going for a precision throw to ensure that Victorique reaches her target. After her boss was sent away, Orchid made sure to keep the area clear of undead, hewing down any zombie that would try and get in their way.

He wasn't quite sure, but he knew it'd be rude to ask. She was acting like a commander, yelling out tactical information that coule very well get them through this alive. Dayle and Roy didn't slip by his radar either as he tipped his wide brimmed hat "Ah figure if any of us is goin ta survive, we need ta work together." He said, his voice rumbling from his chest, listening to the short one as she spoke of chained ones...where did he see them? "Ah fer the love ah-" There was no point in getting angry over something he couldn't change, smoke billowing out of his nose in frustration. His form lumbering as it turned around towards dayle, his foot falls nearly splitting the dirt from his weight.

"You wanna be useful, lizard boy?! Then start throwing hands! Clear a path for the shorty!"

He wasted no effort as he pivoted his foot, cleaving through the undead between the champion and the 'shorty' as she was called. The Bloody Defiance

Orchid's throw of Victorique would be an accurate one, with the halfling's planning and prediction, she would be able to plan it out perfectly, with the orc's powerful throw, Victorique would fly straight for the Champion being held down by Clover, although this would soon fail as Auregnog reach back for the assassin and managed to grab her by the shoulder, grasping tightly, the Champion then pulled her over his head and into the ground before him, on her head. Causing the white thief to bounce off the ground and land on her back, unconscious. With that sacrifice, Victorique was able to land on the champion's chest, the red warrior looked down at Victorique and was about to grab her but the halfling grasped onto the amulet within him. Instead of actually pulling the amulet, when Victorique touched it, her vision would darken and then she would wake awake floating in a hue of blue fog and with weightlessness to her, within this strange realm, she would see ahead of her some sort of island floating. She would be pulled to the island and land on the solid ground, here the halfling would be able to see all around her, the earth was flat with dark green grass, although ahead of her would be some sort of prisoned cage with a man within it, having blood shackles on their limbs. The man was old and had looked like he had been beaten, although Victorique would notice looking up in the sky, there was a crack in reality.

Back in the Defiance

Orchid would continue to take on the undead, with her weapon broken, she would find a polearm on the ground from a dead gladiator, one that was killed actually by Orchid, his leftover polearm was here for her to take. Ahead of her, she would see that the undead now parted away for a stronger foe, one of the chained undead that had made its way towards the group now. Orcus was looking at the group now, which had caused these chained undead to try and stop whatever was happening. One of them was coming towards Orchid with chains swinging away as their darkened eyeholes stared at Orchid, they exhaled a deep growl and moved forward towards the orc. " You'll serve as a bastion for the True Rulers. " The undead spoke in a raspy voice as it neared, leaping forward as it swung a arm, causing the chain to fly at Orchid, although the chain extended towards the orc, flying fast with sharp edges.

1661923164051.png
As for Dayle and Wirejaw, after Dayle had decapitated Zeke's head, there was more chained undead coming for the two, Wirejaw would see one was circling around him while twirling their chain around staring at him with darkened eyeholes. The undead cackled, " You'll serve as the True Ruler's Vanguard, then you'll see the true way. " The undead then leapt at the large lizard while swinging both chains down at the strong lizard. With Dayle and Roy, the chained undead facing them walked towards them with whirling chains, " You'll serve as the True Ruler's evangelists. Your destiny to take the Red Stars is within our grasp. " The undead stared the two down just as they sprinted forward then leapt forward, swinging both chains down at both of them.

Arthur Verg

Arthur stopped firing his Tommy gun when he heard Victorique yell out, unable to actually hear her, he turned back to the champion but saw he had already thrown Clover into the ground with super strength, causing the thief to bounce off the ground while bleeding from her head, now unconscious. This didn't faze Arthur but what did was that the halfling was thrown and landed on the Champion's chest, with the champion about to grab her, although she would touch the amulet and both of them stopped moving, the Champions arms fell limp as he fell to one knee, while Victorique held the amulet and looked like she was stuck in time.

Arthur looked confused and stepped forward to see what was happening when he heard a voice. " No! She must not be allowed to take the amulet! " It was the voice of Lykra, Arthur turned and saw her helmet was removed, a look of anger in her bloodstained face as she moved to try and stop the halfling. Her focus solely on the champion and Victorque. Although Arthur would quickly intervene The Bloodstained, his Tommy gun switched to a Lupara, aiming it at the limping woman who held a bloody sword and fired a powerful shot [Shotgun's Ire F]. The female warrior would be caught off guard and flew off away from the two as Arthur moved to intercept, getting between Lykra and the out of commission champion and halfling, he had faith that Victorique had a plan.

Victorique Sopheana

Victorique's plan bordered on the suicidal, she knew that much, but it had worked out somehow. Well, 'worked out' was a bit much. If it'd worked out, she wouldn't be floating in some weird blue fog by now. You'd think she'd been smoking the wrong flavour of tobacco. Surprised, shocked and confused in equal measures, she looked around, until she got pulled to the island. Although she was glad to find solid ground to stand upon, she really didn't like being pulled around in weird dimensions like this. A shackled man in a cage, a crack in reality and a flat earth with dark green grass... For a second, she wondered if she'd knocked her head into fractures against the champion's armour.

Her mind was racing, until she had a theory. “Let me guess...” She walked up to the chained man. “You're the champion's spirit, mind, soul or something? The amulet got you captured, but it got damaged, explaining the crack in reality here. That much seems easy enough to conclude. Oddly enough though, upon touching it, I somehow got sucked in as well...” She wondered if she was here physically or just spiritually or something, so she tried pinching herself to check. She'd probably feel pain if her actual body was in here, not if she was here in some sort of other state.

Other than that, however, she was missing vital information. For one, what was currently controlling the champion. Secondarily, how to stop it. However, more important, perhaps, was that she wasn't sure what the most desirable outcome was. Freeing the man and trying to see if she could get the original champion back? Honestly, she wasn't fond of the Underbelly and didn't know if she even wished to bring back its leader. Try to kill the man and hope that'd also kill the body? She wasn't sure if that wouldn't instead give full control of the champion to the cultists. Try to get back out and break the amulet? That might make her lose her chance at solving this. She clicked her tongue. She knew too little. It was frustrating.

Sadly enough, there was only one possible source of information here. The chained and caged man himself. “Well then, why don't you tell me what's going on and I'll see if I can remedy things?” She asked the man, upon checking the cage. She wasn't sure how she'd open it, if that was going to be the way forwards, but perhaps she'd find an option somehow. However, for now, her main focus was using her [Insight D] to carefully examine everything this man would say, hoping to catch any lies. While she was at it, she also observed his overall looks a bit more to see if his general outline would indeed fit the armour they'd been fighting. The latter would more firmly establish (or perhaps deny) the hypothesis that this man was indeed somehow the champion.

As Orchid's weapon began to break down, she stabbed it into the neck of a undead gladiator with enough force for the shaft to split and shatter. She knocked the zombie away, grabbing the gladiator's polearm, a sort of scythe-like weapon. Unlike a farmer's scythe both the inner and outer edge was sharpen, making it more akin to a bladed warpick. It was counter balanced with a short and stout hammer head and topped with a short spike. A gladiator's weapon to be sure, since it was flashy but not the most effective of weapon in battle, but for Orchid's purpose it would have to do. Quickly getting into the hang of it's balance Orchid heard something trying to talk to her and saw one of the chained zombies approach her. "Coming to me huh? Simplifies things."

It lunged at her, throwing chains at her. Orchid braced her body and charged forward, her war scythe extended forward to intercept and knock the chains off course. What she wasn't able to batter aside, she'd have to rely on her armor to withstand, though her plate has certainly been taking a hard beating throughout today. She needed to close the distance to prevent the chained zombie from being able to harass her from afar with it's chains, though she had to keep in mind not to let herself fall into some sort of trick. She had a good bet that these chains could probably end up wrapping around her and it might even be the zombie's blade to entangle her weapon, so she needed to be wary of that too. When she got close enough, she thrusts her weapon at the zombie, intending to stab him through the head.

But this was a feint.

Taking advantage of her scythe's unusual shape, Orchid side-stepped and began to swing her scythe over her head. She built up momentum and speed rapidly, cutting down the zombies around her and trying to harry the chained zombie, overwhelming him with attacks. At the apex of her attack, she swung the blade towards the zombie's neck, but angled sharply down, aiming to cut into the chain zombie's leg and knock him into the ground. She'd follow up with an actual strike to the neck this time, swinging at the zombie from a bizarre angle that Orchid could only have accomplished with a scythe.

For a brief moment after she attacked, Orchid noted that Victorique managed to reach the champion without dying, but she seemed to be in some sort of trance. Orchid wanted nothing more than to be by her side to protect her, especially since it seems like that Blood Guard seemed to be threatening Victorique, but Arthur was protecting her now. "Tch! Guess I'll have to leave it to Arthur for now. After I deal with this bags of bones, I'll go help Victorique."

Dayle reveled himself in the battle, trying to drown out whatever thoughts that dared to rear its ugly head. Though that fervor was stopped short from burning any more when the chained undead started to move. On the benches of the arena, the Red Stars were steadily making their way towards the chained undead, but before they could, the other party had moved towards most of the people who were capable of resistance. Orchid, Wirejaw, and Dayle were each met with a chained undead. Roy swiftly went diagonally behind Dayle, sensing the the undead before him were much more formidable than the rest that came before it. What he had was nearly not enough to take the undead head on, so he had to rely on Dayle to take the lead.

He paused to assess the situation for a moment, looking around. The plan had worked, technically, but now both Victorique and the Champion are down for the count. Orchid was supposed to rush up to her and save her, but as it turns out, she had her own chained undead to take care of. If he had the chance, he would do it, but it seems Arthur already had it covered. Besides, with two more coming to their position, there was no time to worry about the halfling. With Orchid already starting her fight with the chained undead, Dayle got ready to throw down as well. "Fucking undead." He whispered, before making some space from the other two. "Orchid! Wirejaw!" He bellowed. "Don't fall alright? Once any of us keels over, it'll be a death sentence for all of us!" He looked at Wirejaw. "Handle that guy, we'll take the other." He said, before looking back at the chained undead coming for him. Roy was not far behind Dayle, readying his claymore.

He made eye contact with the undead as he walked and stared at it without blinking. Dayle's face contorted when it had the audacity to tell him that his life was not his to have. The chained undead started its assault, and Dayle hunched down to stabilize his balance. "If my destiny is in your hands..." Dayle's aura flared as he growled at it (Can't Touch This). "...then I'll pry it off your fucking corpse!" He brought his arms up, defending against the chains that is dropping down on both him and Roy. He was fully intending to let the chains hit him, so that he can grab them and restrict its movements. If he succeeds, then Roy would rush up to the undead and swing his claymore at it, intending to at least cut off one of its arms (Basic Swordsmanship). Then, Dayle would try to swing the chained undead towards a pile of zombies.

The Red Stars a distance away were furious when they witnessed Dayle getting attacked. At this point, they had already lost members, leaving only 20 remaining. Although they wanted to help, it was simply impossible to arrive earlier than they'd hope. "We're coming, sir! Hold on!" One of them yelled, as they reinvigorated themselves. They were already so close; they only need a little bit more.

Wirejaw wouldn't let up if it meant keeping people alive; Undead bodies being mangled against his swift and torrential strikes. He had to bring as many able bodies together if anyone was going to get out of here. He had focus on the enemy in front of him, and let the smarter folk handle the complicated tactics. It's why he liked people like dayle, people like mah commander.

His revelation was interrupted by the sound of chains rattling as battles continued to wage on; It was one of those zombies 'shorty' had mentioned. He almost regretted asking for one to show up as he started talking like Orcus. "uhh Vanguard? Fer who now?" It seemed the creature didn't wait to respond as he immediately leapt toward Wirejaw. A momentary surprise overridden by an engrained battle sense, his stance becoming four legged and low before his massive scaled tail swept across the air between them, absorbing what damage it could from the ominous chains.

"Ain't fer the talkin? that's fine. Ahm better at this part anyways!" His tail recoiled and he immediately launched forward with claws bared, swinging three rending slashes at this chained zombie, taking the offensive.

Orchid's awareness of the more dangerous undead would allow more of the bulk of undead through as they moved towards Victorique and the Champion. As Orchid's new weapon knocked the chains off course, the chains came flooding back to the undead as they caught them and landed about six feet from Orchid, as Orchid got in close to the undead, that was what it wanted, it wanted her to get close to it. Letting out a dry cackle the zombie didn't move when Orchid swung her blade in a fancy manner, watching her like a fly, watching her feint coming it still stood there like a statue while holding the blades on its chains its boney hands, but as Orchid swung down at the zombie with her scythe, aiming for its leg. A hand caught the snath of the scythe as the undead had stepped in to avoid the long chine of the weapon, the undead now in Orchid's face cackle as it had stopped her attack and punched the blade into her chest plate, the weapon penetrated, leaving two holes in her armor and the blades dug into her skin. The undead saw that the weapon didn't go deep enough to severely injure the orc or kill her and then opted to jump up and double kick her in her chest with the blade still stuck in it, pushing it deeper the Orc was launched backwards as she felt the blades push further into her skin, now feeling the pain.

The undead landed on its feet and pulled the chain back, causing Orchid to stop in midair and fall onto the ground as the blade was pulled back to the undead who continued to cackle catching the blade as it twirled it in the air, taunting the orc as it came back towards her. Its eyeholes were staring down at the orc, she would be able to still move but she would feel pain in her chest from the counterattack. For how weak and scrawny it looked, it was strong enough to catch her attack without struggle. Necromancy was a strange magic. She then would have a new helper, having a strange looking Ratkin walk up behind the Orc, having a strange smile on its face. " Yes-yes. Very strange indeed... Very strange... " The Ratkin chuckled as it looked to Orchid, " Name-title is Dirv. A part of the Divees Crew. " He tossed a potion up in the air for her to catch, a strange green glowing liquid. " Hurry and drink-guzzle. Will heal-restore you. " The Ratkin sounded a bit old, but it was still spry enough to move most likely, wielding strange weapons in his arsenal while having potions. The potion that was given to Orchid would taste bad, incredibly bad. Like rotten meat mixed with alcohol, it would make her vision widen for a moment and even feel sick for a moment, but it quickly wore off, Orchid would feel much better and even a bit stronger and faster (Strength and Speed raised +1). The chained undead changed its attitude seeing now it had to take on two different targets. The Ratkin's tail swished across the ground as it then quickly stabbed a passing undead through its skull with his tail. The undead was now going to be more careful.

Dirv
1662182504429.png

Dayle's counterattack against the chained undead was successful, both side's chains tangled up and created sparks as the undead landed on the ground, his darkened eyeholes stared at Dayle and Roy as the Bastard Dog caught his sharp chains. The undead moved its head at Roy as he came rushing toward the undead, it which the chains detached from its wrists letting them drop to the ground as the undead took a step forward towards Roy who swung his claymore, in which the undead was able to dodge it rather easily, showing its quickness and will to fight. Whether it be its own will or someone else's that was controlling the undead was hard to say. While Roy swung his claymore, the undead moved forward and punched the Red Star gang member in his stomach and chest, despite having armor on, Roy would feel the powerful hits, like getting hit with a mallet, despite its weak appearance, it had significant strength. Even grabbing Roy by his shoulder and tossing him back towards Dayle as the undead grew closer, it was such a bizarre thing to witness. This undead, as weak as it looked, was strong. " You will be puppets to the True Rulers, what you are already to the Red Stars. " The undead cackled, despite having its chains removed it was still an active threat with its swiftness and strength, it looked very weak from its appearance but that could be a ploy as well to get people to drop their guard with how it looks. As for the Red Stars, they were able to push through the undead, despite the numbers loss, the undead were just too much, hell, even some of the Red Stars that went down got back up and now fought for the undead, their eyes purple and wielding the weapons they once held. This is what made the undead such a terrifying force, not just their numbers but their ability to replenish their numbers with those you would once call friend, giving that factor of hesitation as this was a comrade you were just fighting with. These undead would not go lightly it seemed.

Wirejaw's question would go answered, " The True Rulers. The ones that once ruled and founded this country, have been gone. You will serve them, willing or unwillingly. " The undead cackled as the chains slashed against Wirejaw, but instead of penetrating his flesh, they bounced off his skin with a loud SHING, the undead stared at the large lizard before it chuckled. " Yes... You will work perfectly. " The undead cackled as it moved back as Wirejaw began his attack, bringing its chains in now holding the blades as Wirejaw was beginning to close in on the undead. Wirejaw would move fast towards the undead, the Undead moved out of the way quickly but it wasn't quick enough. Instead Wirejaw would instead slash and break one of its legs, making the undead falter. The undead wasn't expecting the large lizard to move so quickly and breaking one of its legs. The skeletal undead cackled looking at its leg. Surprisingly Wirejaw wasn't able to cleave its leg but instead broke it, showing their hardiness.

Arthur Verg

Lykra charged at the hitman with blood blades, Arthur's Lupara was still pointed at the traitor Blooded Guard, despite losing half her face the warrior would not back down from the fight. Her face even began to heal back, must have been regeneration as the warrior was able to get closer despite her injuries and Arthur's gunfire at her. She swung her blades to make Arthur dodge them purposely, in which Arthur was able to get out of the way from these long blades of blood. But this was a distraction, Lykra was already by the Champion and Victorique, Arthur's eyes had widened as his shotgun turned to a pistol, taking aim at the Blooded Guard, he fired a couple precise shots at his enemy in her back [Linked Shots F], the Blooded Guard let out cries of pain as gunfire penetrated through her armor. Lykra fell to the ground grasping her chest where the ghastly bullets were at. Her armor was basically useless now that it had been penetrated multiple times. Lykra looked up at Victorique and Auregnog, she knew she had to stop what was happening. Arthur had raced over to the Blooded Guard, making sure to shoot at any incoming undead along the way until he reached the Blooded Guard and kicked her in her side, flipping her over onto her back as Arthur pointed the gun down at the traitor. She stared up at the hitman as she was trying to speak but her face was still a mess. Arthur glared and fired multiple times into Lykra's head until she stopped moving. Making sure she was dead. Arthur turned around to see more undead were coming, his pistol now turning into a Tommy gun as he began to fire at all the undead coming for Auregnog and Victorique for some reason, he looked to see what was happening but only saw the blue glowing amulet with Victorique in a frozen state with her hand on it. Arthur growled, " You better hurry the fuck up with whatever you got planned. " Arthur growled turning to face the horde coming. Arthur began firing at any and all undead, gunning them down but they were just overwhelming. He looked to see what had happened to the others, only seeing Orchid, Dayle and that lizard fighting chained undead. Arthur growled, " Fucking great. "

The Hitman saw fighting in the corner of his eye, two large greatswords slashing through the undead like mincemeat, it was Vido, leading the Divees Crew into the battle to help protect the Champion and the Halfling. Cleaving his way to Arthur, the half orc Vido made it to Arthur's side with a few others he recognized, Lunes the archer, Dirv the Alchemist Engineer Ratkin, and a few others. They helped push the undead back with their strength, " We are here to help create a perimeter. " Vido called to their new leader, the strange Ratkin moved to the unconscious Clover's side and pulled her onto her back, seeing that she was hurt and knocked out, the Ratkin pulled a potion from under his cloak and made the woman drink it. Releasing her quickly, Clover would jump up with wide eyes, ready to fight whatever had touched her. But she calmed down and saw what was happening, jumping up to her feet she immediately began helping out once more, swinging her chained kunai around and cutting down undead in a faster manner, the potion was able to wake up Clover and increase her speed. " Divees Crew! I am going to need your support! We need to hold these undead back from the Champion and the small child. " Arthur called to them, " Dirv, go help the Orc, she's having the most difficulty. Go! " Arthur called. The Ratkin disappeared through the undead in a faster manner, slicing down undead with his blade as he moved. With the support of the Divees Crew, they were able to hold the undead back until Victorique was able to finish whatever she was doing.

What Arthur didn't know was that Lykra was barely alive, she wasn't able to move and on the brink of death, but a stream of blood that she was controlling was moving up the Champion's leg and reached the Amulet, moving into it...

Victorique's voice reached the caged old man as they raised their head, " Ah... Hello there. Well, I suppose so I guess. More of a guardian of sorts. " The man said with a smile, " It's good to see a new face, it's been... A hundred years, I think? I can't tell anymore. It's been a long time. " The old man spoke. His eyes were tired and filled with grief. His eyes glowed up when she asked how she could help, " Well releasing me would be a great help. I've been stuck like this for days now. " The old man stated trying to move his limbs but unable to. He wore some sort of talisman, but it was covered up by his clothing, it looked somewhat recognizable, but it was hard to say at the current moment until there was a better view of it.

1662220593797.png

" I am not sure exactly how you can help. Possibly trying to open it would be a start. " The man spoke, although Victorique would see the cage was basically locked although it looked extremely weak and easily breakable. But then something happened, the world darkened for a moment and there was shake, the cage had weakened as there were cracks now in the cage, it looked breakable with just enough force to possibly knock it over. Far behind Victorique she would hear a faint screech, the old man gasped, " Oh no... The Traitor. " The man spoke, when Victorique turned around, she would see a strange floating red body in the fog floating towards the island. " You need to hurry up and release me! Or you and me are both doomed! " He said in a desperate tone, " And most likely the Underbelly with the coup happening right now. " What coup? What was this man talking about? Although the more he spoke, the more his voice was recognizable.

Orchid really wished she was wrong about how older undead were stronger. Maybe it was just a fluke and she got unlucky, but this literal brainless skeleton was able to stop her attack dead on. And not just that, but it was able to stab through her armor and kick her in the chest. The blow knocked Orchid back and like a certain yellow ninja with a harpoon, the elite zombie yanked the chain back and caused Orchid to hit the ground. She quickly got onto her feet and but cursed in pain. "Shit!" Not a punctured lung, but definitely a broken rib or two. She could feel her chest wet and warm from her blood, though fortunately her gambison was at least absorbing enough of it not to cause her blood to seep from her armor. Coughing out some blood form her mouth Orchid got onto her feet when a ratkin approached. He didn't look like a cultist or a knight, but hasn't ever seen him before either. BUt he seemed firnedly enough when he itnroduced himself as Dirv of the Divees Crew. She had no idea who that was, but when he tossed a potion to her Orchid grabbed it and drank it. She probably should be more cautious about accepting drinks from strangers, but this wasn't the time to start questioning the motives of her enemy's enemy.

The potion, unsurprisingly, tasted terrible. It reminded her of the first time she tried hunting, failing to catch anything and trying to cook carrion. It was a sour and bitter taste and nearly made her vomit. But she put her hand to her mouth and forced herself to drink all of it and she tried to stand her ground. But a few seconds later she felt fine again. Better even. Already her body was healing from her previous wounds (Regeneration F) and she found feel herself being stronger and faster than before. The ratkin seemed to be ready for a fight, and Orchid noticed that more undead were converging on Victorique. "Tch. Need to finish this fast." That being said, Orchid also needed to change her tactics. Even if she was faster and stronger now, that undead zombie wasn't weak or slow either. And those chains gave it a deceptively flexible range in both short and long range. But all the more reason Orchid needed to fight smarter, not harder, and take her time whittling away this zombie's defenses.

Orchid moved away from Dirv, moving low to the ground. She kept her scythe in front of her to deflect any attacks in her direction and tries to analyze the exact nature of this zombie. It was mostly bones, with very little flesh aside from what was on the body. It was literally bone thin, so it had a very small frame. Trying to bleed it out was impossible, so Orchid can't really rely on those tactics. IT doesn't have eyes or a brain, so she's not sure how sentient it is but fear effects won't affect it probably, nor blinding it. She isn't sure how exactly it sees, but the typical tactic of throwing dirt and debris at it's face probably won't work. The chains are looped through the zombie's wrists and it's ankle. Not so much like bracelets, but like spikes. This could be used in Orchid's favor since it can't drop said chains, but as she's observed it can retract and extend them near instantly. If she can trap them somehow, that can severely limit the zombie's mobility.

Soon once Orchid was in a position perpendicular to Dirv, Orchid's hands move swiftly. It looked like she was going to charge in, but as with all things she does this was feint. Among the weapons and gear Orchid had picked up on the way here, she had grabbed a fallen gladiator's bag of javelins. Taking account how thin the chain zombie was and how quickly it can move, Orchid hurled the javelin, aiming for it's legs. Ideally she kneecaps it to severely cut down it's mobility, but what her true target was to get her spear to pierce through the center of the nearest ring connected to the ankle. She intends to throw her javelin at a low angle, so that it can't simply jump up to get the ring out, and force it to try and break the javelin to escape. That itself could give her or Dirv an opening to land some solid blows in. Either way Orchid made sure to stay moving: she doesn't want this thing to be able to try and attack Dirv and her at the same time, and instead force it to commit to her or the ratkin.

Victorique Sopheana

She felt a bit bad for the old man, but not enough to have that emotion show. After all, she was far more intrigued by what in the world was going on here. With the limited amount of information she'd gotten, she tried to draw some conclusions. Him being here a hundred years meant he'd been here since the Controls War, or during? However, he said he'd only been stuck for days. That would put him getting stuck in the same time-frame as the champion having gone missing. If the man got caged when the champion went missing, was this old man truly what used to control the champion? Perhaps ever since the Controls War or maybe even before that?

The man was giving her way too little information to go off of. However, when he mentioned the traitor and coup, she could reach some conclusions. Perhaps those cultists were taking over? Perhaps someone from the Blooded Guard had worked with them? She'd only seen Lykra briefly, but that was the first Blooded Guard that came to mind, as she was the only one checking all the boxes, being strong, high up and directly involved. She gritted her teeth. She knew there was urgency in freeing this man, but she couldn't trust him just like that. “Tell me your name, tell me why you're caged and show me that amulet!” She commanded, as she got ready to break the man out in case she heard answers that'd satisfy her.

She also made sure to quickly test if her [Pocket Dimension F] worked here, trying to open up a small pocket dimension. If that worked, it'd increase her options significantly. If it didn't, she'd have to play her cards even more carefully. She made sure to remain highly aware of her surroundings, using [Danger Instinct D] to be on the look-out for any sign of that 'Traitor' the man mentioned. However, she decided to go on the 'offensive' as well. “Show yourself or I'll break this man's cage and take him away from here!” She yelled out, using [Persuasion E] to show she was meaning it.

Part of her instincts told her she'd have to free this man and make a run for it. Another part of her told her it was way too easy to break him out to trust that solution. That cage looked like even she might be able to break it, weak as she was, which made it feel way too easy. Who or what would she release if she'd free this man? Why hadn't he freed himself if his cage and chains were this shabby? A sudden realisation arose. What if it was the cultist that'd stared at her during the battle? That seemed like a strong and dangerous enough opponent to somehow do something like that. All things considered, she didn't dare to trust this man, but then again... He sounded very kind and honest, showing no signs of hostility or disdain. Yet... why was he caged to begin with? She felt like a headache was brewing as she genuinely didn't know which course of action to take right now.

In the end, she figured her best bet was to buy time. Try to get that traitor to show themselves and talk by threatening to break the cage. That seemed to be the only possible manner with which she could buy time at this rate, as time was really what she needed to avoid coming to the wrong conclusions and making a rushed decision.

Dayle gritted his teeth as the chains hammered down on him, but he was able to endure and grasp at the chains. Although he had succeeded in disarming the undead, what it did was instead let go and gave Roy a beat down he would never forget. Surprised by the intelligence of the undead, Dayle deftly caught Roy with his gaze not breaking contact with the undead. Roy coughed up spit and blood, clutching his abdomen as he gasped for air. "Sir, I can't —cough— fight that thing anymore." He admitted. "You tried your best. Now all you have to do is watch my back. Let the boss handle this." Dayle let him go as Roy shook while standing up. Dayle looked at the undead before him, fire burning in his eyes. It was a mistake letting go of its chains. Didn't it know? The bastard dog of Red Star is very good with chains.

There weren't a lot of times in his life where he had to fight for his life. As someone who had grown up tumbling and brawling in the streets, a thrill of battle was something he craved. However, looking at the undead before him, there was strangely no joy in this kind of battle. There was only... cold rage. No matter how much he wants to drown himself in the stupor of a crazed fight, he couldn't let himself forget about Zeke. He had hoped that the undead around him would've help him hide his thoughts, pushing those to the back of mind. But the thing in front of him refused him. This thing was one of those lunatics. And once again, his mind regained its clarity.

Time seemed to slow down as he stood, observing the situation around him. His eyes drifted over to the Orchid, who was struggling against the undead with her, and Wirejaw, who was faring better with his hardy constitution. Arthur, who was keeping the enemies at bay from Victorique, who he thought is executing a plan. There was that thief from before, a crew he had never seen before, the Red Stars struggling to come to him, the undead horde that would just never let up, and the two VIPs duking it out. It was pandemonium, and Dayle's eyes swept through the place cleanly. Everything was laid out to him. He was a street thug, wasn't he? No matter the situation, all he had to do was to find a way out, even if he had to crawl. And if he should find a way, he had to pull the others he had involved. No matter the cost. Where's your dignity, Dayle? He asked himself. Why are you flaunting it? He wondered. These undead fucks do not deserve it. He asserted. Nor those knights. Why do you have to fight like a man against them? You're the Bastard Dog, aren't you? The gears in Dayle's mind seemed to have clicked, as his gaze went back to the undead before him. Fight, beast. Maul them.

"Hey, bonehead." He spoke, his eyes still clear. "I don't want to be a puppet. Not to your lords, not to anyone." The tingle in his arms was still there. "I am a simple man, really. I live in the fight." The chaos of the area seemed to tone down in his mind. "The fight for freedom, the fight to live, the fight to take what is mine." There was only one thing in his mind now as he wrapped the sharp chains around his own. "But I'd rather be a puppet to the people who took what they wanted with their own hands, scum as they may be." He exhaled before hunching down, ready to strike. "Go tell your lords, come get me themselves." With a strong kick from his heel, he lunged towards the undead as his aura raged around him (Can't Touch This & Hot Stuff). He swiped the chains at the undead, intending to wrap around it and restrict its movements again, before punching hard with his other fist (Hook, Line, and Sinker). No matter what happens, Dayle had no intention of letting up and will continue to move forward with every intention to get it tangled more with his assault and chains, only leaving his aura to defend against its attacks. If he can't avoid its attacks, then he will step forward to deliver a strike of his own. Roy would follow behind Dayle, shielding his boss from any would be interceptors from the undead.

The Red Stars were becoming impatient, their resolves wavering against the assault of their former brethren. There were simply too many of them, and their numbers had dwindled a lot. Gritting their teeth, one of the Red Stars yelled. "Brothers! Breakthrough! Staying fending off everything won't do us any good!" The rest nodded their heads, knowing what will happen next. "No matter what, push forward! Lay your life to create a path if you must! Step on the corpses of your brothers if you must! March, until your dying breath!" Many trembled at the command, but there was no other way to get to Dayle faster. Although they were sent to their deaths, if it meant serving their boss, these Red Stars would gladly bite their tongue. "ADVANCE!" """RAAAAAAGGGHH!!!""" The Red Stars roared in unison, as they immediately began madly going forward. Those in front would block the undead and push them back to the side, even if their bodies would be riddled of wounds. Those in the middle would then replace the front, then do the same thing. Their numbers would go down even more, but they couldn't care. They only need to arrive.

"Advance!" They started chanting, even as screams of pain mixed with them. "Forward!" Although they charged, they were afraid they'd lose their vigor. "Advance!" So they roared a chant. "FORWARD!" To harden their resolve, for even just a little bit more.

He was surprised by the toughness of this walking corpse he was fightin, he never figured the dead could put up so much of a fight, but this one was strong. He couldn't get carried away like he did with those robed idiots from earlier. He felt the leg snap against the weight of his slash, but he didn't cleave it off entirely. These damn things were hardier than frontier oatmeal. "Ah don't give a damn about who ruled this'n place before, can't be ah plunger an bring up old shit yah rotter so keep yer damn loony talk to yerself an make sure yer guard is up"

"I don't want to be a puppet. Not to your lords, not to anyone."

"I am a simple man, really. I live in the fight."

"The fight for freedom, the fight to live, the fight to take what is mine."

"Now them's words ah can get behind, Cant scare the stupid an courageous, can't tell the different neither" He said with a snort. He could remember the familiar sensation of warfare and hellish battlefields, and it split cracks into the wall in his dense skull. Eyes widening as his head started to hurt. He was in a war before...all of this. The sound of musket fire ringing in his ears, and the thundering of thousands of soldiers marching. It almost overwhelmed him as he relived the trauma of killing children in men's uniforms; The memories of The Civil War nearly splitting his head in two.

His face contorting into an unpreceded anger, eyes igniting wildly as channeled the pain of these caustic memories into the fight he couldn't forget was in front of him. His straightforward attacks shifting as he used his [Fast E] to get around his enemy, using his heavy set jaws and snapping them around one of his chains, gripping it tightly with his teeth before leaping backwards; the moment the chain yanked the zombie forward, Wirejaw would kick of a pillar and fire foreword, cascading down a barrage of unrelenting strikes down on him.

(Orchid: +1 Strength and +1 Speed for 1 post)
With Orchid downing the potion and her regeneration skill, her wound would be healed but her armor was just about useless, Dirv, the Ratkin, moved closer towards the undead as it stood still staring at the two, the fresh undead ignored the two and kept moving towards the Champion and Victorique. With Dirv moving towards the undead it began to twirl its chain waiting for its target, watching the Ratkin charge in. Although it paid no mind to Orchid who was already planning something. The undead swung its chains from side to side, Dirv dodged nimbly even in his older age, doing side flips and slides under each attack. Although when Orchid threw her javelins at the undead, its attention moved, it tried moving out of the way but with Orchid's extra strength she threw the spears at a faster rate. Dirv hopped into the air, just over one and grabbed onto it. The javelin would fly through the thigh bone of the undead then stuck it into the ground. Dirv climbed up onto the spear and stabbed his laced dagger through the head of the undead as it was too surprised by what just happened. But as soon as Dirv's dagger stabbed through its head, it's eyeholes emitted a purple before there was a quiet chuckle coming from its mouth. Then death came for it as it fell backwards into ash and dust. Dirv jumped off and landed on the ground before the undead, but most of the undead stopped around Dirv and turned to face him. The Ratkin turned around about to move, but they were already on him. The group of undead held him down and began to devour him. tearing him to pieces and bits, Orchid could only hear his screams as the poor old ratkin who helped and saved Orchid was left to his grisly fate. But now some undead have let up as they were eating Dirv. With the chained undead dealt with, she could now help to further take on the hoard and keep them away from the Champion and Victorique.

Dayle's fight with his undead caused it to laugh as its eyes glowed purple, " You are a puppet, Dayle Keller. " The Undead sounded raspy but its voice was familiar to that Orcus character. " The Red Star controls you, you have no control over your own life as much as you think. They allow a rabid dog to pull a little bit on the leash of the master, so it doesn't try to attack back. You aren't anything special to them. " The undead stepped forward with balled fists, " Those men die for you, yet they become like us in the end. Watch. " There were more screams as more Red Stars began to have their ankles and legs bitten into before it was already too late. " Our numbers grow. Your fight for your freedom is useless against the Red Star, the True Rulers can offer you true freedom. They can offer you an unlimited fight, yet you still rebel. You don't know what you fight for, Dayle Keller. " The Undead continued its speech and even held its arms out for Dayle to strike it down. The Undead allowed itself to become constricted and take hits from Dayle, not giving any reaction to the hits, but his now glowing purple eyes stared at both Dayle and Roy as they continued their assault on him. " You'll bring your men to their deaths. " The Undead cackled until it was eventually killed, crumbling into dust and ash. Behind where the undead had crumbled, Dayle would see his Red Stars become overwhelmed by the undead now from both sides. Although before they were fully taken, there would be another roar of battle as more men came running into the arena where the Red Stars entered, a wave of blue soldiers with Eagle ornaments on their shoulders rushed in with one wearing red, charging through the undead to assist the Red Stars, " Eagle Company! Direct Strike Formation! " The soldier in red raised his left fist having a strange gauntlet resembling a talon up, the soldiers listened and formed up like a spearhead and pushed through the undead rather quickly.

Eagle Merc.jpgEagle Company Captain.jpg

Wirejaw's bout with the undead he faced wouldn't be a tough one, the undead was already immobilized and his continued assault against the smaller opponent would end rather quickly with Wirejaw, Wirejaw absolutely destroying the undead as he tore it to pieces. Its body turned to ash just as in his anger he saw nothing but his own rage and anger. With the chained undead now fully dead, the undead horde in the arena would stop. All would be pulled back towards the wall where they would begin to conjoin into one being. Becoming one massive amalgamation of corpses, there were loud and unsynchronized moans constantly, this giant stood at about 50 feet tall now ready to take them on as corpses fell from its body and onto the ground, the corpses would rise and run at the group defending Victorique and the Champion.

Arthur Verg

1662612867961.png
Arthur was doing his best defending Victorique, " Divees! Push them back! " He yelled, Vido was doing his best, slashing body greatswords and cutting multiple corpses with one swing, Lunes was firing different types of arrows from fire to explosive ones, doing her best to keep them at bay and Clover was stabbing corpses in their head with her kunai then summoning ice spikes to lob at the undeads heads. Arthur was firing at corpses, using his gun skills and summoning of spirits to keep the undead at bay. But eventually the corpses would stop coming and were pulled back creating a large body of corpses. He grimaced and growled, " Damn it. " Arthur then pointed at Lunes, " Fire an explosive arrow at the head! " Arthur yelled, Lunes did as she was told and fired an arrow with her bow, an explosion occurred at the head, but it did little to nothing to the monster. The monster gave a loud roar of moans as it moved forward towards the Champion. " Fuck! Dirv! He's dead! " Vido yelled, now that the battlefield was somewhat cleared, they would see the corpse of a mostly eaten Ratkin body, no features of him recognized besides his tail and weapons. While no one really knew him well, the Divees Crew, Arthur included were all upset at this. Arthur's demeanor changed as then pointed at the behemoth, " We will kill it then! Not one more Divees Crew member shall die today! " Arthur roared, looking at everyone, " Orchid, Large Lizard (Wirejaw), and Vido you guys are the strongest, try to take out its legs! The rest of the Divees Crew, deal with any stragglers you see that fall from the corpse. Dayle! Get up in the stands and get your men down here to help with this. We need to keep Victorique safe. GO! " Arthur yelled as he moved forward to help assist where he was needed.

Within the Heirloom

1662612957031.png

The man stared at Victorique as she demanded his name in which he huffed, " My name is Arron Vengron, I was placed in here unwillingly to serve a better purpose. " The man spoke with a serious look. But instead of breaking the cage he was in, the Halfling would taunt whatever was coming, " No! What are you doing!? " Vengron yelled with wide eyes, " Release me or we both die you fool! " Victorique's pocket dimension would work in his world it seemed. With Victorique's persuasion, she would hear a muffled and creepy laugh as the red fog got closer to the island until finally a strange red woman appeared and fell to the ground, " You call upon me? " The woman asked as she stood up with her bones slowly breaking and creaking. Having massive claws held up that dripped with blood, " Don't release that man, you will ruin plans that have been in motion for years. " The woman stepped forward with her claws ready. " Or your throat will be mine. " The woman cackled under her mask attempting to scare Victorique [Intimidation C] " Now you better run along little girl. " The blood wraith giggled watching her. " No, you must release me! " Vengron yelled, " Or she will kill you! "

Orchid's attack was true, immobilizing the chain zombie just enough for the ratkin to finish the chain zombie off. While Orchid was hoping to get the finishing blow, she doesn't really care as long as it was dead. But much to her horror, the zombies that were heading towards Victorique swarmed the ratkin, overwhelming and tearing him apart. "Dirv!" Orchid charged forward and swept the zombies away, but by the time she cleared them out it was far too late. Barely anything left of the ratkin but his kit and tail. Orchid gritted her teeth, cursing that she was too slow. And if that wasn't bad enough, the zombies had one more trick up their sleeve. They started to gather together, forming some grotesque abomination made of corpses. "Goddamn rotten bastards!" A few zombies dropped from the behemoth amalgamation and rushed the group. Orchid can't let them, or that giant, get close to Victorique.

Rushing towards the initial horde, Orchid wanted to draw them away from Victorique and make them think they could just swarm her instead. She wasn't particularlly faster after all, and going in alone would make her an easy target. And being undead, Orchid doubts they were smart enough to realize they were just being baited. The green giant would draw them away as far as she could, keeping in mind where the behemoth was at so she could attack it. Something this big needed a big attack, just throwing a javelin or two wasn't going to cut it. Arthur started doling out orders, commanding her and a few others to destroy the giant's legs. It was a sound idea and frankly, Orchid was going to do that anyways.

Getting into position, Orchid leapt high into the air. She went up at least seventy feet, getting a look at the monstrosity from above. For the short few seconds she was airborne she directed her body towards the upper shin of the giant. She positioned her war scythe behind her, ready to swing. She's no doubt the giant would try to take a swipe at her, but at the speed she was going she doubts it would be fast enough to react as she aims to destroy the giant's kneecap with a mighty blow. She would fall like a meteor, baring the full weight and momentum of her body through her weapon. Just at the moment of impact, Orchid swung the scythe right at the the giant's leg. She intends to take a chunk out of it and knock it to the ground, forcing the behemoth to fall.

Victorique Sopheana

One task fulfilled: the man stated his name. One task half-finished: the man gave her the vaguest possible answer as to why he was in here. One task failed: the man didn't show her the amulet. Victorique still wasn't sure what to do in this situation. The name suggested he was related to Duke Vengron, but how and why? She wasn't even able to confirm if it was true or not. There was one theory she could come up with. Him having been 'placed' here by the duke (perhaps his brother?) to keep control of the Underbelly. Perhaps the dichotomy of the Underbelly and main city and the apparent loss of the Duke in the Controls War were not as clear-cut as it was made out to be. In that case, was this Duke manipulating all of it from the get-go and was she just going to be a cog in th wheel? She didn't have time to carefully think things through, sadly enough.

Her attempt to hear both sides of the story backfired spectacularly, as the intimidation (and general appearance) of what she was facing hit her hard. She felt a tremble run down throughout her spine and her danger instinct was going haywire. However, rather than being stunned into submission, the intimidation achieved the polar opposite effect. She knew this thing would kill her, just like Arron said. She knew she'd get her throat slid by it regardless of what she'd do. She knew she'd meet a very painful and unfortunate end if she didn't somehow escape this horrifying abomination in front of her. The blood wraith would clearly see the effect her words had on the trembling halfling.

However, Victorique was also scared into letting go of any thoughts that this terrifying creature might have some point. Something that terrifying and threatening would kill her before it'd speak, it would eat her before it'd convince her and it would rip her throat out before it'd even use an argument. It's why all she could do was to start trusting this Arron instead, if she wanted to have a sliver of a chance at surviving this. Having confirmed her [Pocket Dimension] worked, her panicked state would lead her to try something that she normally wouldn't. However, she was at her rashest and most desperate right now. Hoping that her sturdy dress [ B ] was strong enough, she used her full speed (Fast B – 180mph (max) = 290 km/h) to rush at the cage, hoping to break through it. As/if she did so, she opened up a Pocket Dimension [E], hoping to catch Arron Vengron into it, before continuing her sprint away from this terrifying creature as fast as she could. Although she was too weary to use her full-out halfling parkour again, she hoped she was [lucky] enough to somehow snag up the man and outrun the blood wraith until she could either figure out how to get out of here or until she was far enough away to catch her breath for a moment.

Her plan was to use her full speed in a mild zig-zag pattern, afraid of being hit in the back by something, sprinting off for as far as she could before running into any obstacles. She hoped that by the time she'd reach an edge, wall or other type of obstacle, she'd have caught her breath again to start her parkour at full power, so that she could hop across the mountains or even into the giant tree. Anything that might create more distance between her and the thing that terrified her. (OOC, I'm not sure how much of her mobility-based abilities are on CD along with the overall parkour, but if she can still use most of them, she'd do so. She's pretty much fleeing for her life at this point, after all.) In case she somehow managed to put a decent distance between herself and the blood wraith, she'd let the man out of her Pocket Dimension again to see how he was doing and to hopefully see if she hadn't just doomed everything.

She's also keep looking around for a way out of this place, now that she was trapped inside of it with that terrifying thing hunting her. This was like a nightmare come true. The crack in reality kept coming to mind, but was that something she could break open more from inside of here, or did someone have to do it from the outside? In her current state, she wasn't able to really rationalise, so all she could do was to keep looking around in panic and to hope and pray that she'd spot something that could serve as a solution or way out, be it the old man she'd saved or something else.

The undead did not even bother to retaliate, and instead attacked Dayle verbally. His face hardened at every word the undead spewed, knowing the truth. Yet he continued on, punch after punch, in an attempt to shut him up. He was indeed a puppet. He felt the battles he had been before was all for naught, as he didn't step any closer to the future he was trying to grasp. Every word struck his heart, but he kept going. To think about it would be his downfall, and until this fight ends, he wasn't going to let words stop him now. However, the undead had already spoken his fill before Dayle struck the final blow. With strenuous breath, he and Roy turned around to aid the overwhelmed Red Stars, but before they could, sounds of hooves echoed to the arrival of another brigade of knights. With the help of the knights clearing a path, the Red Stars rode on the opportunity and used the formed path to quickly make their way towards Dayle. When the undead began to converge into the giant amalgamation, it became easy for them to move towards Dayle.

The Red Stars, now freed from their predicament, staggered towards Dayle in worse for wear. They had wounds all over their bodies, and there were only less than 15 of them left. The sorry state of his men pricked on his conscience, but he commanded them without hesitation. "You heard the man! Talk while making your way over! The center group needs our help!" The head Red Star nodded as he found his second wind, moving along Dayle and Roy as they hurried towards the center. "Sir Dayle! Mr. Loren has requested us to be sent to you!" He spoke, his eyes shifting to the growing mass of corpses a little distance away. "That bastard did?" Dayle wondered out loud. "Yes!" He affirmed. "He told us the situation, so we had to rush towards our way here." He then brandished his saber, ready to fight again with his saber in hand. "You knew you were going to die, but you came anyway. Didn't I tell you all to value your lives?" Dayle irately asked, but Roy shook his head. As a Red Star, and one who had admired Dayle way before his integration to the syndicate, he knew the reason why these men would risk their lives. "They arrived partly because of obligation, but also because..." His resolute eyes moved even Dayle's still gaze as he continued. "Sir. No, Dayle..." He thumped his chest with his fist and declared with conviction. "We are your brothers, before your subordinates." Dayle was taken aback. "A brother in need is a life worth helping. No matter what, you are our brother before our superior."

A memory seemed to have flashed before Dayle's very eyes. "Zeke..." Inside of a shabby shack, one he called home, there stood the man that had been with him since before. The first that followed him, and the first to ever earn his trust. He had his back faced towards Dayle, as he viewed the holes dripping in water in the shack, before turning to face Dayle. His oafish appearance seemed to not affect his bright smile the slightest. "Yeah boss?" Dayle's silence went on for a moment, the sounds of rain dropping resonating throughout the place. "...You have nothing to gain being under my wing, Zeke. If you really tried, you could get in one of the syndicates, you know?" Dayle finally asked, his tone low, and without energy as he leaned against the worn wall. Zeke blinked, before laughing. "The heck boss? We didn't build this shack together just for me to leave!" He answered, looking back at the dripping water. "But boss, no, Dayle. This ain't about benefit." he continued. "The moment you took my hand and gave me an ideal to work for, I already decided that my life was for your dream." Dayle looked at Zeke, who still had that smile. "I've never wanted to gain something from this. After all, I chose to follow you because I wanted to walk your path so I can help you, just as you helped me." He chuckled. "No matter what happens, you are my brother..." He extended out his fist towards Dayle. "...before my boss." Dayle looked at the fist before him, before helplessly smiling and bumping it with his own. "You cheesy asshat." The duo laughed.

Dayle's vision flashed back as he neared the center. I grin crept upon his face. "Right, brothers..." His faced then hardened as he announced his arrival with a command. "Everyone! Protective circle, now!" The Red Stars roared in unison before forming a defensive ring around Victorique and the Champion, intending to block off any stragglers from reaching the both of them. "Arthur! I'm counting on you! I'm running out of steam, so I'll watch your back while you have mine!" He spoke, decking an undead down with his chains after nearing them. The rest of the Red Stars brandished their swords and once again began readying their defense against the incoming undead, but it was clear that the ordeal earlier had taken a toll on their mind and body. Only Dayle and Roy were still fit enough to immediately begin on the defense.

Something drove him forward, and he was beginning to remember what it was, all he had to do was keep pushing. His resolve wouldn't let up and it eventually crushed the undead into heel. He did feel pity for life that had been lost, but he only held disgust for it's mouthpiece. He could only figure it was orcus, there weren't undead around like him, that was for sure. He didn't have much time to think on a plan as a new enemy brought itself into being as corpses amassed into what he could only call a butt ass ugly monster. It made him sick to see people's remains be used in such a way, but with how the fights with Vengron and the champion are going, they couldn't spread their focus even more thin. He stepped up to bat, and found that orc warrior from earlier did the same. He didn't know anything about these people, but the people she was with were fighting against this insanity so he was all for it.

"Followin yer Lead green skin" He hollered behind her as he launched forward

He couldn't have been more impressed as she pulled no stops and dropped a savage attack down on his leg with the scythe gripped in her mitts. It caused his own blood to boil as he followed up behind her; a large scaled foot using her back to springboard off of as Wirejaw slammed into the leg with his weight and a savage flurry of claw strikes.

"If ya stick close ta me, ah can keep ya from gettin yer block knocked off miss" He shouted "But ah ain't fought nothing like this in mah life, ya got any plan fer how to tackle this big sumbitch?"
