Flux. A powerful, mystical energy that flows throughout all living beings. Flux has been called many things in the past. Mana, Chi, Nen, Quintessence. People who possessed incredible abilities were said to manipulate and harness these mystical forces through years of training and study. A man who stands before a pile of broken spears after being stabbed by them. A wizard who entangles their foes in vines as if they were an extension of his being. An archer who manages to hit a target far beyond that of normal human's perception. These all have one thing in common. In all these stories Flux was present. The monk fortified his body, the wizard created vines to trap his foes, the archer enhanced their vision. All of these things were done with Flux.
Through countless years of study and experimentation we've been able to harness the Flux within our bodies. Though the method to do so may seem mundane by our modern standards, it is by no means necessary in order to ensure Flux is used safely by those with the skills to do so. That is why we've established specialized training facilities, Dojos and Academies, designed to foster the growth of such individuals. Of course one asks how do we regulate such talented individuals. We make them compete. Those who attend academies and dojos scattered throughout the world are organized to participate in a global sports phenomenon known as Flux Wars.
Flux Wars is the event that the world government created in order to ensure those who possessed the skill to use Flux would only use it in sanctioned matches or in dire situations. Flux Wars pits rival academies and dojos in one of two events: King Slayer and Flux Ball. In King Slayer the objective is to incapacitate the individual dubbed the King. The Kings of each team are decided before the match so everyone knows who to target. Be the last team to have their King standing and you win. Flux Ball is a new sport which has the teams carry a ball to the goal to score points. The team with the most points at the end of two 30 minute halves is the winner.
This is Gaea Academy. Here at the academy are goal is the same as any of the other academies: To educate the students about Flux and to train them to use Flux to participate in the Flux Wars. All students go through a rather simple entrance exam. They appear in front of an examiner and place their hands on a device known as a Flux Orb. If they possess the potential to manipulate Flux then the Flux Orb will change shape based on the person's inherent aptitude. This aptitude is what determines which of the five Classes they fall under.
You have already taken the entrance exam and have been sorted into your class. Now you are taking your first steps into the academy. It is here at Gaea Academy where you will live, study, and train in the ways of the Flux. You will have many instructors which you will meet in time. For now you make your way to the field where all the new students are assembling. Upon your arrival you see a well dressed man who appears to be in early to mid 30's talking with an equally well dressed woman who is smoking. They are standing atop a stage with a podium at the front. There are other's standing on the stage with them. Students stand around in front of the stage waiting patiently for the assembly to start.
The well suited gentleman steps up to the podium and begins to speak. "Hello new students. Welcome to Gaea Academy one of the best Flux training facilities in the world. My name is Lucian Vance. I'm a Professor as well as the Dean of the academy. Before you all panic I rarely get to teach a class. My duties as Dean keep me rather busy you see. That is why I have the distinct pleasure of introducing you to my wonderful team and fellow professors. They are professionals of the Flux Wars and are experts in their respective class. So be sure to pay close attention during your Class specific training. First up allow me to introduce Miss Sae Ingram." (Please read the Sae Ingram tab before continuing)
The Dean stepped up to the podium once more. "Thank you Prof. Ingram. Now onto the next Professor. Please welcome Mr. Arthur Ardent." The Dean motioned over to a man in a lab coat and green shirt. (Please read the Arther Ardent tab before continuing)
"Next up please welcome Miss Meiling Taoshen." (Please read the Meiling Taoshen tab before continuing)
Lucien stepped back up to the podium and readjusted his tie. "Ahem, thank you Prof. Taoshen. Now all of you please welcome Miss Kisala Rumin." (Please read the Kisala Rumin tab before coninuting)
"Thank you Prof. Rumin for not demonstrating your Launcher like last year. Now moving on to our two esteemed medical professionals. Please give a warm welcome to Dr. Junpei Ryoma and Dr. Richard Cline." (Please read Doctors Tab before continuing)
"Wonderfully said gentlemen. Now for the last member of my team I want to introduce you to head of security here at Gaea Academy. Miss Julia Zarva." (Please read Julia Zarvah before continuing)
Lucien steps up to the podium once more. "With Miss Zarva's statement that concludes this morning's assembly. Students please take the rest of today to settle into your individual rooms and get acquainted with the academy grounds. Your rooms are equipped with basic amenities. The dorms are split among boys and girls. Your first class begins at 7 AM. I suggest you do not be late. Have a wonderful day everyone." Lucien closed out the assembly and the faculty began to make their back into the school with the students.
Upon entering your room you find a bed, a desk with a holo computer installed, a closet for clothes, and a small compartment in the wall where a floating object rests. As you pass by the object it powers up and blinks are you.
"Hnnng... Nice nap. Hello master. Welcome to your room. I'm Yuru and I'll be helping you from here on out! I'll be making sure you stay on task with your schedule as well as keep you up to date on any happenings within the academy. Just call upon me whenever you wish and I'll do the best I can to help you."

Just call upon me whenever you wish and I'll do the best I can to help you."
The smoking woman he was speaking with earlier stepped up to the podium. "Good morning students. I'm Prof. Ingram and I'm a Weaver. I'm sure you're all raring to get to training but first we need to establish some ground rules. First and foremost is that you may only use Flux in the following situations: During the Flux Wars, under supervision within the academy, and in a dire situation where your life may be at risk. Failure to comply to this simple rule will result in a warning for first time offenders. Repeat offenders will be suspended from participating in the Flux Wars. Further offense will get you expelled from the academy and the authorities will come to arrest you. If that is understood then we as well as the disciplinary committee will get along swimmingly." She spoke with a sort of clarity and matter of fact in her tone of voice as if she wasn't going to hear any objections.
"I will be personally overseeing the training of the Weavers. As Weavers our job in the team is to prevent the enemy from moving the way they want or to outright prevent them from moving at all. As such our focus is more on support rather than attacking or defending. Weaver's must be aware of their surroundings at all times before they strike and choose their targets carefully. Also once you've manifested your Flux you won't be able to change targets easily since you have to focus on restraining the mark. This means that it will be hard for us to defend ourselves. We have to put our trust in our teammates to protect us ensuring that we're able to perform our duty. I'll go over more in class but keep that in mind as you study here." With that she stepped down from the podium and returned to her spot within the line of faculty.
As the man walked up to the podium he shook the Dean's hand as they passed. He parted his hair a little bit and then fixed his glasses before speaking. "Hello students," He speaks jovially. "As you know my name is Prof. Arthur Ardent. I'm the Interceptor Instructor here at the academy. I'm also one of its former alumni in fact. I graduated from here not too long ago actually. What was it? Four years ago now? Time certainly does fly when you're having fun I suppose." He chuckled at his is own words before continuing to speak. "Anyways like I said I'll be helping out the Interceptors here at the academy. Our job as interceptors is to protect our teammates. That goes double for our Weaver and Healer. As interceptors we have the unique ability to channel our Flux into powerful barriers that help mitigate, reflect, or outright nullify attacks sent out way. Of course it comes at the cost of us always being in the line of fire. While you're training with me I'll be teaching you how to defend not just your team but yourself as well. I look forward to working with you all from this point forward." With that Arthur left the podium and returned to his post.
A young woman steps up to the podium. She wears a yellow jacket that's open revealing her white top and matching yellow pants with a black stripe going down the leg. She clears her throat and looks over the students. With a sigh she finally speaks. "I don't know which class you all are, but from what I see you all seem a little weak to me. You sure you're up to being professional Flux War participants?"
Almost immediately Sae Ingram broke out in a raucous laughter as soon as she heard the words leave Meiling's lips. Lucian let out a heavy sigh and Arthur looked dumbfounded as well as the rest of the faculty members. Meiling continued to speak. "Look there's no shame in being weak. Just means you gotta lot of room for improvement. I guess it's a good thing you have me for a professor then huh? Like the Dean said, I'm Prof. Meiling Taoshen. I'm here to whip anybody who's a Striker into shape." As she said that last line she leaned forward against the podium. "Now being a Striker is a scary job. You're the first one who jumps into battle. Your role is to relentlessly attack the enemy using your speed and agility to stay out of harms way. Or at least that's what everyone says. Really you're more like a big distraction while your Weaver ties em up and your Archer get's a few cheap shots into whoever you're pissing off." Sae stifled another laugh at Meiling's explanation.
"But if you're good at your job you'll not only help you're team win but you'll be able to take out just about any foe you face before your team has to worry about it. That doesn't mean just go all gung ho and start wailing on the opponent. That's a swift way of getting your butt dragged back to your Healer. Look, Strikers are close range fighters. They get in, they draw the enemies attention away from the rest of the team so that the team can do their job, then get out before they get tied up themselves. Remember a Striker's job isn't just to take down enemies, we also gotta set em up for our team to make'em easier to knock down. If you got that then I'll see you in class. Don't be late or I'm making you run laps." With that Meiling stepped down from the podium and back to her spot.
Another young woman steps up to the podium. Her blonde hair is tied up in a wild looking ponytail and she has her bangs held back slightly with a pair of goggles atop her head. She puts her hands squarely on her hips and smiles widely. "Sup everyone. Names Professor Kisala Rumin. I'm here to teach Archers the ropes. Being an Archer is pretty simple conceptually. You point and then you shoot. But Archers do way more than that. See we're called Archers but we're more like Blasters. We all have different ways of manifesting our Flux so every time your let loose your arrow or pull the trigger your projectile will be totally different than your buddy's. Take me for example. I carry around this here heavy looking gun."
She pats the gun she has slung over her hip as she speaks. "This little guy here is my personal model suited to firing my Flux. While you're in my class we'll be covering stuff like this so hope you like buildin' stuff cause you're gonna have to make you're own Launcher, that's the term we use for our weapon by the way, if you want to be an effective Archer." Kisala continued to smile as she looked over her Launcher. "Anyways what does an Archer actually do you're probably wonderin' huh? An Archer's job is to take out opponents from afar. Archers need a sharp eye to take aim and incapacitate their mark. But we also need to have both patience and quick reaction times. Since we're fighting from a distance we have to account for the time it takes for our flux projectiles to arrive at their destination. Not to mention we have to worry about the properties of our flux projectiles. One of you may shoot fireballs while another is shooting arrows that are laser beams. Don't worry we'll work out the kinks before your first match. I'll see you all in class."
Kisala hopped down from the podium and returned to her spot.
Two men in lab coats stand side by side on the podium. One of them wearing blue scrubs underneath his lab coat and a stethoscope hanging off his shoulders. He sports glasses and his hair is long just parted enough to reveal his eyes. The other gentleman has short yet messy hair. He is wearing a white shirt and khakis under his lab coat. The man with glasses speaks first.
"Hello everyone. How are you feeling? Tired I would assume given the rather blank stares I see out there." He chuckled at his little joke. "I kid of course. I'm Dr. Junpei Ryoma. I'm the nurse of Gaea Academy. I'm certain I'll be seeing you all at one point or another. After all Flux Wars is a combat sport. Injuries are bound to happen. Just come see me when you can and I'll do what I can to get you patched up."
Junpei then steps aside to allow his colleague the floor.
"Ahem. Hello students. My name is Dr. Richard Cline. I'm also a nurse here at the academy. Which brings up a good time as any to say that both myself and Dr. Ryoma are Healers. We will alternate educating the Healers as there must always be one nurse in the office at any one time. So you'll get used to us being around in some capacity. Anyways a Healer's job is self explanatory. We Heal people. Nothing more nothing less."
Richard stops talking before stepping down from the podium. Junpei let out a sigh and steps up once again.
"While my associate is correct we actually do much more. As Healers we have the unique capability of using Flux to diagnose what's wrong with our patient. Once we've confirmed the issue we then transfer our Flux into the patient and steadily repair the damage. Of course Flux Healing can't heal everything. If you've got a cold we're gonna prescribe you some medicine and tell you to drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest. That's just an example of course. We'll go over every application of Flux Healing while in class. So to all you Healers please look forward to that lesson."
With that final statement both Richard and Junpei took their leave of the podium.
A woman dressed in a button up suit with a gold badge like accessory pined to her chest steps up to the podium. Her blazing red hair is tied up with a simple black ribbon in a tail. Her piercing amber eyes gaze over the students. "Good morning students." She says coldly. "As you know I'm head of security here at the academy. As such that also gives me the authority to, should it come to such an event, detain you until the proper authorities arrive. My team is equipped to handle any Flux user and we will do what is necessary to ensure the safety of everyone within the academy. Please do your best to be on you best behavior. It would be a shame to lose such talented individuals simply because they couldn't follow a few simple rules. My team will also handle security for when you travel for away games. So you will have no reason to worry about your safety during your travels to and from the games. That is all I have to say for now. If you need a refresher on the rules they are posted on the bulletin board around the school and on your Yuru's Notice Board."
