Chi, Nen, Quintessence, Mana. The mystical force that flows throughout the world has many names. We refer to this magical energy as the Flux. The source of flux is unknown. Some say it comes from within ourselves. Others say it comes from the very core of our planet. In truth it matters not where the flux comes from. What matters is what it is capable of and how it is used.
The Flux is a fantasy roleplay with a touch of sci-fi. So things like cell phones and modern transportation is a thing. But we also have things like hologram projections and hard light constructs and cute floating robot assistants. Oh and of course the flux AKA the"magic" element of the setting. I'm going for a sort of magical high school/RWBY-esque/combat sports(?)/tournament(?) setting if that makes sense. The school setting is just something I'm used to doing and have experience running. I like the idea of team oriented activities and a combat sport within a high school setting seems as good as any to try and work with. I will be playing most of the NPCs save for maybe a few if anybody wants to take up the role of instructor. Below will be a very basic rundown of each of the 5 classes. The classes are very much RPG inspired and a full team of students is consisted of 1 of each class.
This is just an idea that was floating in my head so I'm not expecting much, but tell me what you think. Would you be interested in doing something like this?
Classes
Flux is an ever present energy that can take many forms. Those who practice manipulating the flux will generally present an aptitude for a particular style. We refer to these aptitudes as classes. The classes are: Archer, Striker, Weaver, Interceptor, and Healer.
Archer
Archers are practitioners of flux who focus on long range skills. They can channel flux to their eyes to enhance their vision before unleashing devastating attacks from a safe distance. Though they are called archers they are not limited to the bow.
Striker
Strikers practice manipulating the flux into their weapons and body. Be it channeling flux to enhance their speed to strike swiftly or cloaking their weapons in flux to enhance their striking power; strikers are the first to attack and generally draw the attention of whoever they are fighting.
Weaver
Weavers are masters of manipulating flux to bind or trap their foes. From simple flux shackles to elaborate traps and cages. Weavers must always be thinking of how to immobilize their target. Since they are not a combat focused class weavers rely on their teammates to keep them safe while they set their traps.
Interceptor
Interceptors, much like strikers, practice manipulating the flux into their weapons and body. But unlike the striker the interceptor is focused solely on defense. An interceptor's job is to defend their team's weaver and healer from harm as well as aid the striker should they need to fall back.
Healer
Healers focus their channeling of flux into medical support for their team. They are the saving grace from a losing battle. Many healers require that they touch their patients but some rare ones have the ability to heal from a distance.
