.. And welcome to White Rabbit Valley, a town for all things hellish. For hundreds of years, powerful vampire families have ruled the supernatural world with an iron fist, all the while remaining hidden from the general public. Calling themselves The Configuration, you've just been indoctrinated into this strange new world against your will under one of these families and, with their help, they have shown you the basics of survival. Though, something feels.. wrong. The humans are reporting sightings of hideous monsters living within the sewers, strange satanic-like shrines popping up in back alleys, humans and vampires alike being brutally murdered in the dead of night.. you've heard the rumors. But you've only been living this life for a few days, and now you have to live by their rules.

But each power structure is not without it's dissenters. With a war on all fronts, which side will you choose?

In this world, you've been told it's you, or them. Will you make the just choice, or will do you what you must in order to survive?

  • Types of Vampires and How They Are Born

    Forebears - Naturally Born Vampires
Humans who, in their life, died under a specific set of circumstances.
The circumstances can vary from Forebear to Forebear, but the common denominator seems to be linked to one's own emotions. Whether it be a crippling mental illness, incredibly high social status, insurmountable cruelty that resulted in their passing, a lust for power, or a manic desire to persist after death, something about these intense feelings cause the ghost to inhabit it's own corpse-- Making them both alive and not. Naturally born vampires are more powerful than vampires that are turned, but typically suffer from irrationality, apathy, and in some cases, insanity.

    Fledglings - Turned Vampires
Humans that are turned by other vampires.
In order for a Forebear to turn a human into a vampire, that human must be legally and totally dead. The Forebear will then feed their own blood into the mouth of the human corpse, effectively bringing it back to life. Newly born vampires will experience a rush of berserk-like emotions, briefly losing control of themselves having an intense lust to kill. Called 'Beasting' or 'going beast,' it can usually be subverted by knocking the vampire out and waiting for them to wake again, or restraining them for a period of 8-16 hours. The reason for this phenomenon is unknown, but it is theorized that this is the human bodies last-ditch effort to hang on to whatever scrap of humanity it has left by flooding it with rabid emotion. Turned vampires can create other vampires using this same method, furthering their bloodline.

    - Both Forebears and turned vampires must feast on blood, animal or human, to survive. Animal blood will sate a vampire's hunger, but usually takes larger quantities to do so. Human blood is rich and will satisfy vampires longer and easier than animal blood. -

    A Vampire's Power
Every vampire has a few set abilities that are universal to all vampires.

Immortality - Pretty self explanatory. Vampires will not age, become sick, or die as a result of typically natural causes.
Miasma - An ability that can, with practice, influence humans (and humans only) to do their bidding.
Regeneration - Any small injuries sustained to the vampire (such as a cut, scrape, stab, bullet would, etc. etc.) will heal itself relatively quickly, but larger injuries such as losing a limb, removal of organs, etc. etc. requires a large intake of blood, and will take several years to complete. (Though most organs are not necessary for a vampires survival.)
Flight - Every vampire has the ability to turn themselves into a pre-determined bird of prey, such as owls, eagles, vultures, ect. However, the action itself makes them appear as the bird from the human eye, rather than physically transforming into one. They may remain in this state for however long desired, and still maintain their consciousness.
Sense - Vampires can 'sense' when other vampires are around. The feeling typically manifests as a faint tickling at the back of the neck. Alternatively, vampires have a unique scent to them - freshly ground vanilla - that can tip other vampires off to their location.

    A Vampire's Weaknesses
Similarly to their powers, vampires have a set of weaknesses universal to all of them.
Nausea - Vampire's can walk amongst the living during the day, however they are creatures of the night! The sun will make them sick to their stomachs, becoming fatigued and nauseous until sunset.
Power Handicap - Similarly to the weakness above, Vampires can't use their abilities during the day. Because of this, many vampires choose to sleep until nightfall.
My Achey Breaky Heart - Contrary to popular belief, garlic, crucifixes, and wooden stakes do almost nothing to deter vampires. Instead, the only way you can kill a vampire is by removing and destroying their cold, dead heart. Ouch! On the upside, vampires can survive without their heart, but are incapable of using their powers.
Inheritance - Depending on the Forebear, turned vampires will take on parts of their parents abilities. However, unlike their own abilities, it takes a severe toll on the vampire's hunger. If you're going to use this ability, you had better find some blood, and fast!
Post-Mortem - Vampires, though walking and talking, do not have a heartbeat or a pulse. Because of this, they also have no blood flow, causing their blood to sit inside of their veins, slowly coagulating over time.
Expired - Vampires can consume human food to appear more human-like, however without a properly functioning digestive system, it will eventually rot in their stomachs, causing them to vomit.

How To Obtain A Unique Ability
Though not entirely understood, a vampires ability seems to stem from whatever they were proficient at in life. For example, if your character used to be a mechanic when they were human, they might develop an ability to control simple machinery. If your character used to work at the post office, maybe they can turn paper into living origami pieces for a short period of time - so on and so forth. A vampire's unique power manifests in small ways, and gradually becomes easier to control and more powerful. Forebears also develop powers like this, but in more intense, stronger ways, and at a much faster rate. Their abilities are typically considered more powerful than that of the average vampire.

    Vampire Taboos
Some things that are generally frowned upon in common vampire society.

    - Consuming the heart of another vampire. While it is said that eating the hearts of your fellow undead will grant you a fraction of their power, it also destroys them completely, leaving no trace of their bodies behind.

    - Keeping it in the family. Vampires often refer to humans they turn as their 'children,' and as such, having romantic relations with them is generally considered weird. That doesn't stop some of them, though.

    - Interacting with those from your human life. Typically, vampires look for people to turn who do not have those that will miss them. And if they do, they will not be permitted to see them again. As such, finding ways of communicating to loved ones is a big no-no, as it could potentially expose other vampires. It's a hard life, but that's showbiz, baby!

    - Modern vampires. Vampires find the modern world's portrayal of them as embarrassing or insulting, though there are some that find them amusing. Bringing up vampire romance novels/movies around most vampires is a surefire way to get punched.

I actually got a question about Ajax's bloodline. When you say their bloodline is capable of communicating with animals and that their speech is limited. Does that mean that they don't talk well or they just can't communicate well to animals but understand them?

Great question! The player can communicate with the animal perfectly, but the animal speaking has a limited range of speech when replying. So for example, an animal could answer binary questions such as yes or no, but more complex questions such as "can you tell me how to get to second street?" will usually warrant something like "what?" "don't know, don't know!" "Try again! Try again!"

So when phrasing a question, it has to be as simple as possible for the animal to understand. Someone could also use visuals, like drawing a picture, to clarify.

Interested.
Great! :) You can fill out a character sheet from the Character Sheet tab, and at the bottom of the tab is a link that will direct you to the thread where you can post it. :)

So I would just like to clarify something about the relationship your character should have to their friends and family -- YES your character has a life before becoming a vampire, and YES they have people who care about them. However, at the time of your characters death, they should be out of contact with their friends and family for whatever reason. Having people around your character that will notice they are missing is exactly what The Configuration DOESN'T want when looking for those to turn. That's not to say these people don't care about or character, or your character about them -- It's to say, by the time their family and friends realize they have been missing, it will have already been too late, and your character will be presumed dead as far as the humans are concerned.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me! :)

I want to join, but I don't have discord.... Would that end up being a problem at all?

Alright. Everything is up already right?
Yep! The actual RP hasn't started yet. Just make sure you read all the lore very carefully, and fill out a character sheet. I'll let you know if I've accepted it or not.
