A few ground rules before we get started:
- This is an advanced RP, so 3+ paragraphs per post, please! English does not have to be your first language, but please use correct grammar and spellings if you can. If I feel that not enough overall effort was put into the character sheet, I reserve the right to reject it, but I will first make suggestions.
- Stay away from canon characters, please! As much as we all love Clary and Jace and Tessa and Jem, OCs only for this AU universe RP. Although you are permitted to make your character belong to one of the canon Shadowhunter families.
- Please post on the RP thread at least once every two weeks. Don't make me have to hunt you down for a reply. Three infractions of this rule will result in dismissal from the RP, though penalties will not apply to other RPers who are held up waiting for the offender’s reply.
- Realistic faceclaims only for all characters! No anime or drawings, please.
- Please note that this is a gritty RP centered around hunting and killing demons as well as young adults being young adults, and as such violence, substance use, language, and (limited) sexuality may occur.

Full Name: Carlin Theodor Atlas
Name Meaning: Carlin is an Irish name meaning “little champion”; Theodor is a German name that translates to “God’s gift”; Atlas refers to the Greek Titan doomed to eternally bear the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Nicknames: Occasionally is called Carli, but usually this nickname is usually said with a derogatory connotation that he’s not a fan of. However, his human father affectionately called him Zaubermaus, which means “magic mouse” in German. Most commonly, he elects to go by his surname, Atlas.

Age: How rude of you to inquire… but if you must know, 491 years old and going strong. Atlas stopped aging relatively young for a warlock, at about twenty-one years old. In fact, it’s not unreasonable to mistake him for an edgy high school senior trying to act older than he actually is, and he almost always gets carded at mundie bars.

Nationality: German; born just after Martin Luther kicked off the German Reformation.
Weapon of Choice: Magic; in particular, Atlas has a special affinity for earth magic, manipulating natural resources and elements as naturally as breathing. As one can imagine, this is a particularly handy skill for amassing wealth.

Appearance: Atlas has a long, narrow face, a collection of sharp lines and jagged edges, much like his personality. He has especially prominent cheekbones that make his face look a little gaunt. Combined with the long, heavy brows that curl around in a cruel hook and angle severely over his eyes, he has a perpetual disapproving glower. His nose is long and bony, curving upwards at its tip ever so slightly. His mouth is narrow and frequently set into a hard, unflappable line, as if he were at a poker table and minimizing the natural expressions of his face as much as possible. However, on the blue moons in which Atlas allows himself to really, truly smile, the act reveals dimples in both cheeks deep enough to pour tea into. His chin has a cleft that's especially prominent when he lifts his chin in defiance or is talking down his nose to other people, which is to say... more often than not. Since the 1950s, his haircut has been the same: long and unruly on the top, and shorn close on the sides. He generally aims for a deep side part, but his cedar-brown hair is in such chronic disarray that it rarely stays that way, and errant ends are prone to falling into his eyes. Atlas has disarmingly dark eyes, like twin tunnels that end nowhere, beetle black and as devoid as the rest of his expression. He is tall and, for one who casts magic as a main weapon, impressively muscular, which his bulky clothes tend to disguise. But from the back especially, shirtless Atlas cuts a slightly hulking silhouette. For those who are curious, he is left-handed.
Wardrobe: Having lived through numerous centuries, Atlas's fashion style is versatile where his age is not. However, his current favorite style is old-fashioned and slightly rustic, as if he were a country boy from the better part of a century ago. He tends to adopt a natural, rather inconspicuous color palette, frequently sporting chunky sweaters, brown trousers, white button-downs, and Chelsea boots. He tends to wear warm, textured fabrics, such as wool, tweed, corduroy, and cashmere, stuff that can be easily layered in the cold months.

Furthermore, he has multiple piercings, including a nose stud in his right nostril, a vertical eyebrow piercing on the right, and conventional pierced earlobes.
Physical Disabilities: Sometimes a mixed blessing, Atlas does not have a sense of smell, which he assumes was a demonic adaptation to shut out the various stenches of hell. He can however taste food to a limited extent, recognizing if something is salty or sweet or spicy, and as a result takes little pleasure in eating. ••A spitfire of a woman, she is all about the hunt and adventure. She takes her job as a hunter very seriously knowing without the Shadowhunters the world would crumble into trouble. Backstory:
••Calista grew up for most of her life in France where like all nephilim has trained since childhood. She was the youngest born to the Verlac family having a sister who was five years older than her and a brother who was only a year older. On her first ever mission she learned a hard lesson as she watched a demon kill her older sister. It had been because of her own mistake having always been on the confident side she had gone for an enemy out of her league. This resulted in her older sister stepping in and when they thought the situation was handled everything fell apart. The demon not wanting to go down alone used the last bit of its strength to take out Madeline Verlac. Calista watched in horror knowing it was because of her. They held the traditional ceremony for their deceased then went about their days continuing to train and go about their lives. Calista however pushed herself harder than ever studying and training every minute of free time. She wanted to make the demons pay so she started learning how to lure them in a flashy fire dancer was certainly something. So with her brother's undeniable strength and her act as a fire dancer they often lured in many targets swiftly dispatching them and reporting back to their parents. After several years went by Calista had to watch as her only sibling was killed by a vampire. They hadn’t expected a vampire to show up during a fight with several demons. They were outnumbered but making good headway when the vampire suddenly rounded on Gunther who had his hands full with one low class and one higher class demon. Calista was almost to him when the vampire gave him the final blow in her rage she killed the vampire and lower demon while the higher class one got away laughing. After that she didn’t want to be home anymore so when an opportunity arose for her to move to the Boston institute she swiftly left. Now she’s growing accustomed to the new place and plotting her revenge on the higher up demon who had ultimately led to her brother's death. She thankfully has grown close with a few fellow shadowhunters and of course her beloved snake Shade.

Silas is a 5'11 male with short brown hair and deep brown eyes. He often looks tired, especially after training, as it takes a lot out of him. Silas has a few scars littered over his body, mainly on his stomach and upper arms, and while he often looks sickly pale, he's actually physically healthy. Silas often is littered in bruises from fights, preferring to let them heal naturally instead of using an iratze, having been raised to belive that you couldn't trust runes for everything, while Silas may not look very athletic, under all of the sweaters and hoodies, he's actually quite lean, but due to his baby-face people often expect him to be chubby. He has a faded Parabatai rune on his right sholder, it's turned silver, not because his Parabati is dead, but because his Parabatai was turned into a vampire.

Wardrobe: "I Like things dark and broody."
Silas is known for wearing dark clothing, stuff that bags just enough to cover his frame, but not enough to get in the way if there's an impromptu mission that he needs to be a part of. He doesn't really understand why people dress for events, so he often just wears the same types of clothes all the time, why wear a suit, when cargo pants are just laying there waiting to be worn? It's not like people really expect him to wear anything fancy, as he doesn't even own anything fancy, most of his clothes are actually from thrift stores mostly, as he doesn't really have time to go to real stores, he loves comfort, but he also loves style, and so his clothes, while they look super uncomfortable, tend to be baggy, so that if he ever needs a nap, he doesn't have to change, although, he probably should change at least once in a while. (AND HE DOES), If he's forced to wear something fancy, he has to do rentals, but he still finds ways to make them look like he just threw them on in a hasty run to try and get to the meeting on time.

Silas is blunt and honest about things, and often comes off as a jerk, but in all honesty, he's just doing what he thinks is best for those he loves. Silas is a fighter not a lover, despite this, he has dated many men and women, before deciding to focus on his training, wanting to become the next Jace Herondale or Emma Carstairs, Silas tends to find reasons to push people away, finding things to keep him busy so that he doesn't have to deal with real people. Silas was raised to be honest and strong-willed, but he was also one of the weakest Shadowhunter at the Sydney Institute, so he began training as hard as he could to become great, he was taught to trust no-one, which is why he often finds himself isolating and pushing others away. When stressed, Silas often runs away from his problems and locks himself away from the rest of the institute in an area where he can read, Ever since his parabatai was turned into a vampire, he's been absolutely desperate to try and figure out how to "fix her" instead of opening up to other people and letting himself make new friends, It'd always been quite hard for him to make friends in the first place, having been an only child, but when he came to the Sidney institute, he met Casey, a kind girl with a kind heart, they clicked right away, and when she was turned, he swore that he wouldn't let another person get close to him ever again, Silas often thinks that he's cursed to be alone, but it's mainly because he just pushes people away, he doesn't really know why he pushes people away, but it's probably because he's scared that if he lets someone close, they'll leave.

What's in a Name?
"Kikani" is a surname from an Indian Caste system. They were officials and associated with nobility and royalty. Yet she was actually named after a restaurant to commorate the storage room where she was conceived. She kept the name despite hating her parents; she felt there was a reason she was named after nobility. She did however legally change her name to just Kikani. There was no way she would smear her existence with the surnames of either of the assholes that made her and gave her away.

"Kicks" is her nickname cuz it just formed naturally by her peers and friends. But she has bought into a reputation that should go along with the name so she focused her combat training on lightning quick and powerhouse kicks. That and she does skateboard too and invented a move called 'Angel Shot'. A vert trick where she will grab her deck with her left, do a sick kick pose holding her skateboard up high then transfer the deck mid air to the right and fakie the landing. She has a similar trick on rollerskates but it involves more of a dance move.

"The Foundling" is the name she has been referred to in the institute. And she doesn't mind it. She actually prefers the title since it snips any ties to her parents. And they have taken care of her here and she's made really great friends too.

Style:
Dresses, skirts, shorts anything really that will lovingly put her long legs on display. She doesn't have a lot of money but when she does have some excess cash she will go to 2nd hand/thrift stores and compile some redonkulously amazing outfits and simple fashionistic styles. And yeeeeaaaahhh, she loves her shoes too lol. As much as she'd love to get her nails and hair done up, she won't splurge on them but if the girls are up for it, she'll do nails and hair nights with them. Her hair is wavy and kinky on static days so she will spend time to straighten it out and style it as she sees fit. She likes to keep her hair long and sleekly styled back. Yet when she's out on a day trip a pony tail will do. But when she rides her skateboard or rollerskates, she likes to just let her hair down, flowing freely and wild. She will doll up with makeup too but only on occassion or when she feels like a poser. When working out or knowing that she will be on her deck or wheels for the day, she will defo go without the warpaint. And strangely enough, she is not about the trinkets nor the shinies on her wrists, fingers or around her neck...

Minor scars from scrapes and falls but a major one on left forearm where the bone pierced through the skin after a nasty bone breaking landing / No tats / ears and navel pierced.

She has a pair of wings so she needs to modify her clothes and preen daily. Not dyslexia but she does have a problem comprehending what she's just read and will have to read things twice often. Same with mathematics; she gets confused easily.

• Kikani (who was not Kikani at birth) was born in the Fey Lands. Her parents were Wild Court Fey; both outsiders that found a common cause and love for their freedoms against either of the over-bearing, over-indulgent Seelie and Unseelie Courts. One a 1/2 Fey, 1/2 Demon. The other a 1/2 Seelie/Unseelie Fey. They both knew their child would not make it out here for she was born sickly and with only one wing. And only the Darkness knew if she would ever manifest Glamour powers. So they did what they had to do.
• She was switched at birth with a Changeling in the Canadian West Coast city of Vancouver. Much to the dismay of the unsuspecting surrogate parents of 'Kikani' , they discovered that their child is very noisy and leaves trails of droppings wherever it went. And to make matters worse, it seemed as if when the babe cried, she made people sick.
• The sickness was from her strain of Demon Pox; it only manifested through the tear ducts of the babe. The noise of the child was the single, rainbow hued wing that vibrated and flapped uselessly without its paired feathered twin; unseen of course, by the Mundanes. The 'droppings' were but the molted feathers of said wing, but of course Mundies would only see such lovely Fairy things as human waste/
• As a toddler she cried in a great fits and infected the family dog, giving it rabies. But no. Truly it was not rabies. It was the Demon Pox turning poor Jetson into a demon.
• A pair of Downworlders that had been watching the infant swooped in, culled the poor demon dog and took Kikani away, never to see the Mundane parents ever again.
• The pair of downworlders; one a Nephilim and the other a Warlock, took her in and raised her. They were Kikani's 'new special Doctor Parents.' They kept her locked in an attic, telling her she was a special kind of Angel and that she was sick. Her old parents had tossed her away because of that Oh how they would take really good care of her unlike those Other Parents; they were her Doctor Parents and she needed to stay here so they may cure her. They said they had to do 'arcane medicinal treatments' on her to keep her alive cuz she sooooo special. But all they were really doing was experimenting on her and making her cry so that they could collect samples of her tears. These were ingredients to aid them and figure out a cure for Demon Pox.
• Throughout the years in the attic prison her Glamour manisfested; she discovered that she could maniupulate Shadows. But she was much too afraid to tell her 'parents' cuz she truly believed that they would abandon her just like her real parents did, or give her away like her Other parents did. Not a single one of them knew that she was a special little Angel. No, only her Doctor Parents knew such things. And since she was such a speeeeeecial little Angel she knee that Shadow manipulation would make her impure and a 'fallen Angel'. So she cultivated her Shadow Glamour, but hid it from them.
• She was successfully caged and kept as a secret lab project until age 10. It was overnight when finally she grew her other rainbow wing. Instantly she was bitten by her true nature. It was of the Fey urge to be free and cause chaos. She just had to get out of here. Using the expertise of her Shadow Glamour abilities, she managed to trick her Doctor parents and escaped. She flew away freely into the West Coast night.
• Despite being driven by Fey urge, she still believed she was a speeeeeecial lil' Angel. And now on the road the 10 yr old hid and ran only to hide and run some more as she 'looked for her Angellic kind'. But instead she found a flock of 'fallen Angels'. The dastardly Nephalim captured her and she was brought to an ancient Warlock known as She-the-Mother-Bear Shaman.
• The shaman sheltered her and figured out that this was the poor child that the pair of 'downworlder Alchemists' were working on in secret. She would explain to the child the truth of the Downworlders and that the 'fallen Angels' were actually Shadowhunters. They were all here to help her. But the faction of Alchemists operated outside the Accords and they marked Kikani as their 'property'. They would undoubtedly come after her and do anything in their power to repossess such a property.
• So to stave off a potential street war the group decided to take her to the Boston Institute where she may remain hidden and be properly raised. Kikani flourished there and was trained to survive and defend herself. However, she elected to stay in the Institute and so they give her 'honourary' position of 'Night Watcher'. She was their 'speeeeeeecial grownup Sentry.' But she still had it in her head that she was their x-factor super spy in waiting. There would come a day when they need her most and she would rescue the Institute as they had rescued her.
• To be honest, she is a good little soldier but they really don't need her to be a spy/sentry since they all are in a facility full to the neck with Nephilim Shadowhunters lol. But they like having her around and she's an extra set of eyes and unshakeably loyal. Still annoying and delusional but good hearted nonetheless.

Powers: Shadow Glamour

• Illusions - basic Fey power but not as powerful as a full-blooded Fey. She may only make an illusion that can fool one of the 5 senses at a time. For example she may make an illusion of a demon monster but not make it roar nor smell. And is limited to create a person sized or smaller illusion only within 50ft. She must also concentrate upon the illusion or it will vanish.
• Darkness - this is her unique power that affects the mundane world. She may manipulate shadows and darkness to obscure and hide whatever she targets. She may even use shadows to 'suffocate' a light source and leave an area in complete darkness. She may incorporate her Darkness manipulation with her illusion magicks to create phantoms or moving silhouettes to trick or scare others. This combination foregoes all limitations of her Illusion magic save concentration.
• Soul Pull - she may shoot several tendrils of Darkness at a target and 'pull' at the targets soul. This is a minor offshoot of Demonic possession, instead she tries to puppet the target to do a single action/command. After that action is complete, she must release the target or else she will have her soul drained as well.
• Black Mark - she may put a splotch of shadow upon a target that she may see no matter what form they take. This is a minor offshoot of Demonic sensory, but instead of innately knowing who or what is Downworlder or Demonic, she may just mark them as such.

Appearance: Tobi is quite the sight to behold, an angel with a devil's smile. She looks as though heaven blessed her with all the beauty it holds from her long feathery soft platinum blonde hair to her striking jade green eyes. Her skin is fair and often covered in its fair share of runes as well as a few of her own personal tattoos. She has a figure that is petite but still flattering with curves that look sculpted by the master stone smiths of old. She packs far more of a punch than one might think at first due to her size making her far less intimidating which leads enemies to underestimate her, a fatal error on their part. Her lips are full and often pulled into a flirtatious and mischievous smirk but when at rest have a natural alluring pout to them.
Wardrobe: If it can make your jaw drop and your heart skips a beat then begin to race she likely has it in her wardrobe. Tobi loves to dress to draw attention to herself, she is shameless in how much skin she shows and she knows how to dress to best complement her figure. Whether it be casual or formal this young woman has her style down to a perfect science but it isn't necessarily set on on particular trend. Some day she could be in ripped jeans and a crop top, others a seductively shaped dress, and of course, there are her favorite sweatpants. You can also often spot her with her signature fox-embroidered leather jacket as she rides off on her motorcycle.

Personality: Tobi is not one to let anyone hold her back and she always goes for what she wants. Some people might think she is a bitch for doing so but at the end of the day, she doesn't give a damn. If she is interested in you for any reason she will make it known, just as she will make it known if she dislikes you. Call her whatever you might like, it won't be original and it certainly won't bother her. She learned long ago that in the end, she can't please everyone but she can damn well make herself happy. If she cares for you in any way you will get to experience a softness behind the feisty firecracker. She looks after her own and will lay down on the grenade for them without a second thought, though if they use her nice lipgloss without asking she will fight them and then quickly makeup. True betrayal does not sit well with her and Tobi is not one to forgive or forget easily. She remembers shit and she will strike back when the time is right because she is a petty and chaotic queen to those who incur her wrath. Tobi is a helluva fun gal to hang out with though, if there is a party she is there, if there is a fight she jumps in, if the world is on fire then she is likely either the cause or quickly beating up the cause.
