the truth is there were always backups; ones behind the scenes, waiting and watching, observing and learning for a duty they thought would never come, but one day it did.

the world lost its mind, so sacrosanct is here to help.

after the long-known keepers of balance — the morals, the very nuances of good — all kicked the bucket, a special team by the name of sacrosanct was brought into existence. none of them know any of what they’re supposed to do, their past, or why they all appeared in a bar dumpster together. all they know is the intangible threads tying them together, their names, and the itching sensation dancing behind their fingertips to help.

but how long can these newborn beings uphold a standard they don’t know they need to keep? they were born with the most precious artifacts of life in their hands, but the temptations of life don’t waver for anyone — no matter the situation, no matter the stakes. and the stakes for these ones are particularly high, for the good isn't all of what was destroyed and renewed.

new prophecy woke up covered in blood. new lust opened his eyes to a warm city ripe for the taking. new fear's first memory is strength and the aftertaste of gin. the fates of both parties seem to be crushingly, unwaveringly intertwined, and if this raggedy team held together by fate’s weakening glue can’t pass the test they never knew they were going to take?

ungrudging, painfully honest man, how will he find himself in a world that so pushes him to stretch the truth? and what would befall him if he broke this unspoken contract with himself is a tortured existence -- a burning guilt, because he knows that this everlasting truth is not only for him, but a lantern to chase away the darkness and to guide others through the night.

she's a straight scepter gleaming with jewels, a sculpted attitude worthy of regalia; an unwavering hold of

peace, strength, and grace. but her careful attitude is a glass sculpture, and the outside world a barrage of thrown rocks. though her ruling words have the power to foster more than grace, a sad destiny it would be for her shall she ever forsake her elegance. after all, how can a queen live with a broken crown?

with iron fists and clenched words, he carries more than the weight of possible loss during his eternal race.

he's an unrelentless soul, wandering, running from place to place, person to person, looking for exactly what's right on an endless quest. his motivation is one to challenge the gods, but each loss is an axe to his achille's heel, and he can never stop competing. he can only take so many hits before inevitably he falls, but his energy is boundless -- enough to fuel the next carrier in his perpetual relay to the finish.

sweet as sugar and dipped in cinnamon, she's her own personal angel. a driving wish for companionship

across the world, she carries the very essence of friendship. her shoulder is the perfect one to lean on, but she feels the weight double. in an envious, angry world, there's bound to be someone unaffected by her honeyed charms, but she sees no reason proving against friendship. how far would she go to tie everyone together, even if it ended in a jumbled knot?

a weary soul, empty and cold; the desire within him doesn't burn, but simmers underneath the surface.

ever playing a game of matchmaker, his candied words are cupid's arrows, but bitter romance eats away at him. though he aches to make all love pure and sweet, there's something more that's missing. a love for himself, something that he never had and doesn't know he wants. enamoring is easy, but endearing is a different story, and chocolate roses and careful words only go so far.

[div class=tag]persona —[/div]pandora holds herself as regally as a girl welcomed to the world by a dumpster can. her words and posture alike are stiff and heavy, as she believes that there is no point in dodging or beating around the bush with her words. this can cause her to appear blunt, which is something she uses to her advantage. however, one truly negative thing about pandora is that she is relentless with what she wants, and won’t relax until she trusts that the right course of action will be taken — which is, of course, hers.

regardless, pandora isn’t someone who repels others. she embodies grace and strength, and while her words may be harsh or assertive there is a certain respect that comes with seeing someone who knows exactly what they want. though being around her may be tricky, she holds a certain allure from the mysticism that comes with her unwavering confidence.

thrown into a world — one she had no desire to be in, one of dirt and dusk and muffled noises as her senses awoke for the very first time. as those curious eyes wandered upwards, pandora gained her first truth, something that made her recoil. the sight of the hanging blue canvas above her was just another reminder. where she stood was the bottom of the world. her feet chastened the ground beneath her, and her lips curled into a scowl as everything seemed to fly into reality around her. the stench, the comforting warmth, and... the pain. the searing, flesh eating pain crawling over her.

she curled over, grasping, searching for a source of the pain that was simultaneously everywhere and nowhere at once. her virgin lips stumbled, gasping for breath before murmuring out a clumsy sound she senselessly knew was bad. "ow... ow... fuck!" and the pain, the flaming pain, doubled. it flared like wood and fire, whipping her mind back and forth and rendering her unable to speak. when the cruel punishment by the heavens stopped, and she straightened herself, the pain was replaced by a hum.

a desire, a lovely singing inaudible to her but lulling her to help and teach. pandora raised her chin, looking at the others manifested into the world around her through peering eyes. a flowing dress ruffled around her shoulders, and she took a deep breath, the worldly breeze cleansing her of the dirt she was born into. suddenly, in that moment, her yin had a yang, and the pain she had once felt replaced by a hugging warmth that she knew was a reward.

she wandered forwards, climbing out of her green prison and holding her arms out to feel the brushing wind wrapping around her. "hello, my world."

backstory ; love was known to turn a blind eye to the negatives, instead choosing to focus on what was beautiful. if emotions were able to be compared to a garden, positive feelings were flowers which bloomed when they were tended to with care and affection. it was crucial to keep the weeds away from the light of the sun, the hateful, spiteful feelings. it was crucial to carefully pluck them out. there was no way that love would allow hatred to even take root, nevermind dominate the garden of emotions.

so what awoke corin was the scent of unfamiliar perfumes, rather than the musk and rot of the dumpster. when his eyes opened, he was met with the outlines of five sleeping bodies. the sight should have terrified him. they were inside what seemed like a dumpster, and he didn’t recognise any of their faces, but his mind was oddly accepting of the situation. his limbs were even strewn over somebody else, his body having an unconscious habit of cuddling other people in his sleep. his cheeks heated up in embarrassment as he detached himself from them, careful not to disturb their rest. if they woke up now, he wouldn’t be able to explain the situation without it being awkward, and maybe, without causing the other person to become uncomfortable. it was unlike him to act in such a way towards complete strangers, and despite being unable to recall who they were, he wondered if he knew them somehow.

forgetting people was not something corin usually did, but no matter how hard he tried, his attempts at remembering were not rewarded with any answers. there was an underlying smell of alcohol in the air, and he wondered if it was the reason why his head was so devoid of memories. perhaps he had consumed a large amount of it before passing out? but he didn’t feel the symptoms of a hangover, nor did he taste any alcohol on his tongue. it was strange. in his mind, there was a single thought that echoed in his head, pulsing in time with his heart. love, love, love, love.

such an abstract idea to be focused on, and one that offered no help in solving the mysteries of the situation at hand. even so, he found himself with a natural affinity for it, unable to push it out of his head for even a moment. the kind of love that was pure and simple, not fuelled by lust or desire or anything of the sort. the kind of love that yearned for the happiness of others, both in themselves and in others. it only brought him more questions. why was the thought so persistent? and how did it relate to the situation at hand?

well, it was obvious that he wouldn’t find any answers in a dumpster. under the light of yellow street lamps and the stars, corin began to wander, falling in love with the world as if it was his first time walking upon it. the lovely glimmer of the stars… the echoed voices of nocturnal birds… the outline of moonlight on the city’s buildings… it was all so beautiful.

at the end of his stroll, corin found himself at the entrance of a bar, drawn by the sound of soft jazz and wanting to be sheltered from the chill of the night. it was almost the only building open at the current hour, and buzzing with activity. many people were chattering happily amongst themselves, but instead of focusing on that, he found his eyes resting on a girl. she was sitting by herself and being the very picture of loneliness, her fingertips absently running over the condensation on an untouched glass of alcohol. she seemed distracted, and when she turned her phone on, he saw tears on her cheeks illuminated by her screen.

the way corin’s heart clenched at the sight was inexplicable, but he didn’t feel pity. instead, he felt empathy with such strength that it was like her pain was simply his own. the echo in his head became louder, unbearably so, chanting the same word again. love, love, love. his legs were moving before he could even make the conscious decision to do so, and he pulled out an adjacent barstool so that he could sit. the sound startled her, and when her phone dropped from her grasp, he caught a glimpse of her screen. on it was a contact, the name adorned with hearts on either side. her phone was asking her to confirm if she truly wanted to delete their number. ah.

their eyes met, and corin had just enough time to watch her emotions flicker from hopeful to disappointed. he wasn’t the one she wished was there with her… but he could still make her feel better. he didn’t know where the confidence had come from, but he also knew it to be true. there were a few moments of silence.

the awkwardness stretched, and then, as if she had been put under a spell, she began to talk… or more accurately, she began to ramble. there were explicit and private details that corin would not dare ask her to share, but he listened nonetheless, trying to use his empathy to navigate while keeping his own boundaries settled. the sudden change in mood was a bit strange, but he found that he really didn’t mind. that in his heart, there was this perhaps foolishly, laughably heroic part of him that believed he could help… that he had some inexplicable power to mend relationships and make people fall in love. whatever the truth was, what he was doing seemed to be working, and that was good enough.

Hair: Light brown hair cascade to her shoulders, lying just above her breasts. The texture is silky to the touch, almost begging to be braided.

Eyes: Seraphina has light blue eyes, similar to the calm waves of the ocean. She also has a soft look in her eyes, and through those baby blue pupils, she sees a world of promise and good.

Hair styling: She lives for the messy-hair look. Seraphina can be seen with her hair put up; numerous strands of baby-hairs will be escaping the firm grasp of a scrunchie. Or, intricate braid designs (with some strands still loose) typically adorn her hair. Maybe with clumps of flowers stuck in between the braids as well.

Height: Sera stands at a tall and impressive 5’4”. She does not consider herself short, but genuinely laughs along with anyone who makes fun of it. However, you could say it somewhat complements her childlike nature.

Weight: 115 lbs.

Modifications: The only modification she has are the miniscule holes in her ear lobes that offer a place for her flowery earrings.

Distinguishing features: Light and dark spots scatter themselves across her face, from cheekbone to cheekbone. Along with her button nose, she has thick eyebrows, long eyelashes, and a very bright smile. And yes, dimples are more than evident when she smiles.

Scent: Honey and Cinnamon

Ailments: She has a weak immune system, and can get sick very easily because of that.

Positive:

Optimistic: Seraphina can be overly-optimistic at times. She believes that everything in the world is good, no matter the person (or even what they have committed). She can find the good in everything she sees and her positivity can be quite contagious at times.

Innocent: A word that only emphasizes the behavior explained above. She has a tough time understanding what is considered “bad”. One could say her innocence is very childlike, as if she has yet to be exposed to the true horrors of reality and instead maintained (and continues to uphold) the goodness found in ALMOST every child.

Open-minded: New ideas? Feel free to fire her way. She will accept 99.999% of them. It does not matter how impossible or outright outrageous the idea is, she will see the worth in it (immediately) and praise you for your contribution.

Creative: Anything that requires her to be innovative is begging for her creativity to reveal itself. Seraphina is very imaginative in her approaches to anything and everything. Therefore, expect her two cents to come into play frequently.

Playful: Once again, her inner child is something she remains in touch with on a daily-basis. Seraphina is both silly and very giggly when she becomes playful. She can easily entertain herself with the bad puns she makes and constantly finds a way to connect with a younger audience. Essentially, put her in a group of elementary schoolers and she will fit right in (she would make a wonderful teacher).

Forgiving: It is against her nature to not forgive someone immediately after they have wronged her. The person could have put her life in danger and she would still forgive them. She just can not find it in herself to hold a grudge, and does not know why either.

Helpful: Give her something to do! She will complete that task as if her life depended on it. She enjoys helping others and finds it so enriching. All you have to do is ask for a favor.

Excitable: See that girl over there, jumping up and down with a huge grin on her face? That is Seraphina, the girl who is standing in line to meet the one and only, mall-version of Santa Claus. Need I say more?

Negative:

Gullible: Again, as much as she is forgiving, she is very naïve as well. You can tell her even the most ridiculous of things and she will believe it. Lie to her, and she will believe you. She puts a lot of trust in those she so-recently met, which has the potential to lead to her downfall.

Disorganized: Her room would remain messy until the day when Hell freezes over. And do not even think about cleaning her mess, because everything in that room (according to her) has some use. “Plus, like, what if I need it tomorrow? Or later today? Or in the next hour? Or even the next minute?”

Sensitive: It is very easy to make her cry (it is also very easy to make her happy). Usually her fits or tantrums last for a second before she’s back to her cheery-self, but it is still important to keep this particular trait of hers in mind.

Forgetful: “Where did I put that thing again? What thing, you ask? Pfft, I don’t know.”

Strengths: Whatever allows for her to express herself freely, be the embodiment of innocence, or anything of the like is considered a strength for her. Examples:

BIOGRAPHY:

||Seraphina did not know where she was, neither was she familiar with the faces around her. But then again, it was not the first question that popped into her mind. The many inquiries she wanted an answer for appeared trivial to the unparalleled strength of the desire to do something… anything. The purpose of this feeling that lies deep within her gut was unexplainable, and in truth, it frightened her. Was something wrong with her. Was she unwell?
No, it could not be, since this drive within her felt so… right. Her baby blue gaze trailed to the others who were present in the same area, giving a second or two to once over their features. Perhaps they were experiencing the same suspicions, and by the look on their faces, Seraphina was not that far off. For some undisclosed purpose, she felt the motivation to do good in this world. It did not feel like Sera had an option, either. This… thing… was compelling her, influencing the way she thought, acted, and felt. Sera was unsure of what it was that propelled her up from wherever she was and made her walk to a nearby stranger. She did not even fully comprehend the words that spilled out of her mouth like a continuous stream of water. In fact, recognizing her own voice was also a problem; the bubbly, high-pitched words that slipped from in between her lips caused her to flinch slightly. Whatever it was, however, it made her feel incredibly enlightened.

What great culmination of life experiences lead one to this point, this very point where everything in a person screamed disaster? Dressed in clothes you did not recognize, asleep in an alleyway fit for no living being, in some small part of town that raised its children with a bit of grit in their spirit. This was where dreams were tested, where ambitions fought uphill battles, and envy came crashing in through paper-thin walls. What good could come from such a scenario? Buried ten feet deep in an odor that vaguely smelled of rotting meat and paint thinner.

Flat on his back and staring, New Truth thought to himself: The sky. This beautiful and endless blue which hung over their heads as a reminder of well wishes and something better. Framed by crumbling red brick and garbage, its grace was infinitely awe-inspiring. Though only seconds old, he new he'd no other recollection of something so vibrant and true. He could live a thousand lifetimes and never encounter anything quite as moving as this sight, this second.

He cried, unabashedly and without remorse, simply because he did not want to let go or forget how his heart swelled in this moment, how his head swam and stomach fluttered. He was in love. That was his first truth. The only truth he'd need. In love with something that could never see him and could never understand how desperately he did not want to be here. Send me there, he wailed. Let my body evaporate. Make me a cloud, something just as beautiful or something near to it. I don't belong here.

He woke. He wandered. He did little else. There was a chasm inside of him which could not be filled. No other truth which could amount to the one he held in his heart.

"You look lost."

Starring wide-eyed, Wilfred met the gaze of a sickly looking fellow. Wrapped in a tattered coat, lines creasing his forehead and cheeks, the man still smiled just as warmly as the barrel of fire they huddled around.

"I am," Wilfred responded.

"I know it may not feel it, but that's not a bad thing... To be lost, I mean." The man paused and looked at him very pointedly, willing Wilfred to understand what he was saying. His skin burned orange in the light; his dark freckles were pronounced."You find things when lost that you'd've never dreamed of finding while found. I found out I never wanted to be someone else's hero. When I joined the military, I was blind as a bat. Went in for all the wrong reasons. I ain't never done nothing for myself, you see." He jabbed a finger at his chest. "Leaving home was the first good thing I ever done." When he smiled, his teeth lit up a dingy yellow color. "I'm more happy as I ever been." Grabbing the collar to his coat he shrugged and looked down sheepishly. "Got me a nice, warm coat. Shoes. A place to sleep where the rain can't get me. What more could someone ask for?"

Wilfred stared, confused. Food. A nice car. Maybe some money because every damn thing cost something in this world. His brows knitted. The man pressed a hand to his head and stumbled back. He looked at Wilfred, shocked with his admission, and started to cry. He reached across the space between them and pulled Wilfred into a hug. Trapped in his embrace, Wilfred pursed his lips together and looked about them carefully, granting the man a reprieve as he sobbed into his shoulder.

  Honest: As expected of the new truth, he will always be honest. He won't turn around the bush and he will not go behind your back. He will be straight forward and won't be able to tell a lie. Though he can keep a secret! Unless someone asks directly about the secret.

  Humble: He is not someone to brag or be arrogant. Even though he knows he is smart, he is also aware that he has his failures and that being only booksmart isn't gonna bring him anything. So while he is aware of his strong suits, he doesn't forget about this weaknesses or things he could do better as and should develop. This makes him a rather humble person, though he knows how to take a compliment when he deserves it.
  Generous: He will give you his undivided attention when you ask for it. He will always be there to help you out. He won't mind spending all his time and effort on helping another person. If someone is in need, he will try to see what he can do within his own capabilities. He likes to share what brings him joy with others to bring them joy as well. Even if he has little left, he will make sure everyone has equal and no one is left with nothing. Sometimes even giving up his own stuff or share to help another.
  
  Negative traits
  Pessimistic: Though he calls it being realistic. He always likes to point out how things could go wrong, or how small the chances are of things going well or in their favor. He doesn't necessarily wanna rain down on the parade, but he just can not ignore the possibilities of bad things being the outcome as well.
  Know it all: His eidetic (photographic) memory makes him able to remember a lot of facts from simply reading them. He will simply blurt them out whenever he feels like it, and he will point out and exessively argue his point on how he is right (and that is the truth).
  Rude: He doesn't mean to be cruel or rude, but being deadly honest has a dark side as well. He is unable to even tell a white lie. He won't, plus he can't. Really, he will be fidgeting and uncomfortable and in the end blurt out the truth any way, since he cannot lie. Sarcasm is already a tricky feat for him. So if you ask him something, be sure that you are ready for the truth.
  Judgemental: He can be rather black and white. It is either true or untrue. There is no in between for him. Other than this he is very open-minded and tolerant. But when it comes to something being true or untrue, he will have a verdict and he will stick to it. Though his mind can be changed, if you come with good arguments to show your point is the truth instead of what he believed before.
  
  Strengths
  Eidetic memory: Especially effective on facts and maps. He just needs to study a map for one minute without any distraction to remember and recall it forever. Little facts will stay with him forever and he will blurt them out whenever the memory of it is triggered.
  Probability calculation: He has a skill for calculation probability. He can very quickly determine how much the chance is something will or will not happen even with several variable.
  Body language: He can pick up on little things in body language that others might miss. Not only when people are telling lies, but also when they are uncomfortable or upset yet trying to hide it or hold it back. He will pick up on it.
  
  Weaknesses
  Shellfish: Skin contact will leave him with itchy rashes. If he digests it, he will go in ananaphylactic shock. Though he does carry his Epipen at all times.
  Lies: Either told by himself or someone else. Things that are untrue make him uncomfortable and very nervous. This also included bluffing and sarcasm not being strong suits of him anymore.
  Practical skills: He isn't good with his hands. At all. He can do some basic household skills, but nothing more than that. Putting together Ikea furniture with a manual? Nope, not gonna happen. One two three pop-up tent? Sure, popping up no problem, folding it together? Nope, better abandon that thing. Building a raft to cross a river? He cannot put Ikea furniture together, what do you think?

  Benjamin Oliver Sherwood was a notorious gambler. If he walked into your casino, you bet he walked out with some large sums of money. It was unclear if he had ties to the underworld... But unexpected tied up trunk rides were not uncommon for him. Or perhaps that was because the bad guys knew where to look for money. 24-years old, and Benji had already a few million to his name. All of carefully divided over several bank accounts in Switzerland, Luxumbourg and Cayman Islands, before he suddenly seemed to have vanished in thin air. His favorite tables left empty, and the casino owners slowly starting to let go of that gnawing worry for his return.
  
  Deep green eyes opened as a body lay slumped over some cardboard boxes. A dumped body? Someone who had not cleared his job and made sure the person was actually dead? Who knew. He didn't. Actually... He didn't know anything. He didn't know where he was or whom he was. Other than three names. Benjamin Oliver Sherwood. Those three little words gave him a pleasant tingle, a warm fuzzy feeling through his chest. He took a deep breath as he took in the clear blue sky above. "Above us is the sky." He spoke to no one in particular as he slowly moved to sit up between the black bags. He just wanted to spread what he knew. "Below us is the ground. We are sitting on it, or standing. Or laying." He smiled as he felt that soft hum in his chest. It felt good to spread this knowledge. He look around. "There are six of us. Three males. Three female," he pointed out, before getting onto his feet. His hands smoothed out the charcoal grey clothes that covered his body. A suit, he quickly learned by glancing at the advertisement in an discarded magazine. Something worn by wealthy people. So that meant he had to be wealthy, right?

  His logical deduction was harshy interrupted by someone loudly asking 'what kind of shit this was'. His brows furrowed as he looked around for answers. It felt like a million bugs were crawling under that expensive fabric as he finally found a little sign. "We are not standing in poop nor is any manure around us," he said, "we appear to be surrounded by paper waste." The annoying itching feeling slowly settling again as he smiled and walked over to the container where the voice had come from. "Though there must have been a mix up as this container says garbage disposal and food waste. Does that answer your question?" He smiled as that buzzing warm feeling returned to his chest again. It was nice to show the truth, the facts, to whoever these people around him were. "And since none of us are made of paper nor considered food -I hope-, I believe we should not be here, and do not belong here..." But where did they belong? Or where did they have to go? He couldn't tell that, but he was sure that in time the truth would come to them.

Purity was sweet, crisp and clear, a comforting embrace from a mother, a shining ray, and it was up to her to give the gift she had to everyone else. then it hit her. the smell. she gagged, her hand leaping to her mouth to prevent the contents of her stomach from spilling out. it was then she noticed her surroundings. her body was comfortably nestled around bags of trash. a dumpster? she feebly tried to clamber out, her hand reaching upwards for the edge of the large garbage cart. it landed on something wet and vaguely sticky, eliciting an inward groan as she reluctantly continued. it took a few more attempts before she finally tumbled out of the dumpster onto the hard concrete.

new amity glanced back at where she'd been resting, her eyes widening as she took in the various forms strewn across the area. some just stirring, some still in a deep slumber, the plane where she must've been only moments earlier. they were strangers, she knew that, but something about them felt paradoxically familiar. something that was quite right in the universe, just something she'd not yet discovered. there was a soft gasp behind her, and she swivelled, staring right into the eyes of another person, propped up against the rough brick wall. new... a whisper rang through her ears and she tilted her head as if trying to hear better, but the last few syllables faded before she could catch them, leaving only a nagging feeling that she already knew what had been said.

then her heart sang, a tune that she'd sung many times before, and she felt her body move even before she realised what was happening. a hand outstretched — hers — as she smiled at her newfound companion. "hello," she said simply, "i'm..." she paused as the fruit sank lower, just low enough for her to finally grab it and hold it in her hands, "winona." a rush of emotion passed through her entire being, and her smile grew wider. Waking up in a dumpster full of strangers was nothing short of distressing. A dumpster is for trash and in his core, his soul, Alec knew he was anything but trash. Things were hazy to him currently. He had no memory of anything prior to the light he saw as he emerged out of the dumpster. It was almost as if he was born at that moment. He knew only a few things. Primarily, his name. Almost as naturally, the overwhelmingly innate feeling that he must prove to the world that overcoming life and all of its challenges and claiming victory was everyone's responsibility to themselves. The lack of memory of anything prior to waking up is awkwardly comforting to him as he can only rationalize that being in that dumpster was somehow one part of his plan for...something. The before. What was before, when he did not recall it? When he simply didn’t exist, the same way no one remembers the times before time itself. A debate seemingly of upmost intrigue and importance, yet having only the singular result of fruitless time wasted. Yet he knows there must have been a before now, as with the first thoughts then immediately came sound. Sounds of breathing, of first his own, heavy and labored, his lungs pushing against an ungiving force. Yet on the offbeat, sounds of air moving in and out still beat against his ears. Such were Victory’s first thoughts, mind bleached blank yet already questioning for something.

Next was the stench- God, the godawful stench. He gagged harshly, already on the edge of retching in the first few seconds of his arrival, turning his head away violently. What he didn’t notice before suddenly became unbearable, wet slimy filth rubbed against his cheeks and lips, the briefest hint of spoiled food on the tip of his tongue. His limbs were stuck under heavyweights, wrapped in smooth unnatural surfaces. His arms pulled desperately out, trying to escape his bounds before he can even see- until he can.

For the briefest moment, he laid there, eyes finally wide open for the very first time. His new world. Yet despite all the questioning thoughts before, his mind blank with only one feeling. The simple blue of the sky. No clouds, no anything. Cold refreshing air, bathing his face. The charge of adrenaline, as his body finally escaped what’s trapping them from running. Moving. doing something. Anything. His hands ached to bring glory to this magnificent, waiting, world and whatever’s of it.

Yet at the same time, all he wanted was to stay in that moment, in the height of this… triumph. The first, of hopefully many to come.

Then all the confusion and onset panic set in, and he flipped in surprise, rolling himself out of the dumpster and landing in a puddle of rainwater, grime collected along its journey. Flinching from the freezing wetness spreading from his back, Victory leaped up wildly and yelped, his brain in frenzy. A thousand questions, racing, mind desperately trying to take in everything because it had nothing in it to fulfill the answers.

A dirty alleyway, shivering from his cold back, a cat, it’s green eyes looking back at his own, before disappearing into nowhere, broken bottle at the corner, last few drops of unevaporated liquid leaking out, an ant, crawling on dumpster filled with bags of black plastic, stretched taut over waste- and people.

Five others, precisely, in the same dumpster he is fairly certain he had just come out of. Their faces were unknown, and yet a feeling that they should be familiar with thrummed in him. Still, he backed up in warning, hand swooping in alarm to grab the broken bottle. A make-shift weapon that will have to do. He’s never fought, yet it was but second-nature, his heart beating like a rabbit as uncertainty ate him, but he only allowed confidence to speak on his face. He knew his objectives. Find safety, and then who or what the hell he’s supposed to be or do; he refused to crumple without finishing these goals.

But first, he must know if these are allies or foes.

Just like a moth caught on a spider's web. Surely it did not mean to be entangled by the pellucid strands of eight-legged death? No, it did not. Victory is not found wreathed in gold nor set in a glass casing and placed on a pedestal. Victory is borne out of the dirt and grime, found somewhere in the gutter. It recoils in the refuse, uncharacteristically dazed as he watches the little bits of insect matter recycling each other.

There are two kinds of people. One who flows and sways to the whims and fartwinds of the blokes up above. The one who submits. Trembles in fear as every twitch of their shivering petalwings reverberate the webs of space-time, drawing mortality closer and closer. Who cowers in fear at the moment they feel that all is lost. Who waits with panicky breath, like a teenager on a date with his first love. Only love here, is Death. Beautiful beautiful Death.

There are two kinds of people. One who spits defeat in its smug face. Who refuses to go where they did not wish to go. One who is stubbornness. For no amount of fate's webbing could ever hold them back as petalwings were meant to be stronger than any fragile thread. Thus, they would break free and find their home once again in the skies.

"YES-!" BANG "OWWW!" An exclamation of pain cuts through the still night air, muffled by the hiss of a steamy vent.

Victory lay awkwardly, nursing a bruised knuckle from where he'd just punched at the metal lid of a large refuse bin. His glorious stinking spawning pool. Above him, stretched between the bars of a back-alley catwalk and highlighted by the midnight sun, a moth flutters away from a torn spider's web. The source of his jubilation, that had so enraptured Victory's attention that he forgot the discomforts of his birthing chamber. But it wasn't long before the sensation of something wet and squishy behind his back overwhelmed the momentary pain of bent fingers, fuelling cries of disgust. With much clattering and banging and whines of indignation, he finally regained his footing and clambered over the lip of the refuse bin before hopping down to the garbage strewn ground.
