Realistic or Modern Rising Tides, Shifting Skies (Zombie Apoco)

Lyric

Location: Road

She looked at Pandora then down the road, towards where the noise was coming from. "That definitely sounds like some kind of vehicle..." She said, trailing off. She finished off her apple before saving the seeds from the core. Who knows, they could come in handy.

She loaded her bow and looked at the others before following along Pandora and Paxton into the trees. It wasn't completely save in here, but it really wasn't safe anywhere at this time.

Apollo shuffled his knifes back into the special pocket on his hoodie and reached down for his backpack slinging it over his shoulder once again.

"I'll follow you all as long as we are getting away from whatever is coming" he said firmly. He wasn't afraid of the dead. Zombies no longer fazed him this far into the apocalypse. However the living? He was more scared of them then he would like to admit. His mixed martial arts and the few throwing knives wouldn't be able to stop an entire group. That's what he was worried about.

"Just be quiet for now." She told the young boy when he asked. She didn't have time to waste talking. She couldn't risk them all getting caught. When the vehicle - a large armored truck - drove by she saw the face that haunted her nightmares each night, he was in the passenger seat. "Stay down." She whispered.

She could tell Paxton wanted to be able to hold her down, but she also knew he could never get close enough. She looked at Apollo, who was in between the twins. "Don't let him get himself killed." She looked at her brother, "I'm sorry." The tall girl bolted from her hiding spot, firing an obsidian arrow into one of the wheels. Harold was the first one out and when he looked at her he paled. "I'm going to kill you this time. You can't escape."

"Oh, but my dear, I've already won." He smiled in a way that sent chills down her spine as his driver opened the back of the truck, unleashing a horde of zombies. Lead by her family. "You see, the dead can still become infected. Your beloved family is going to kill you, just like you killed my son."

Pandora was visibly shaken up by this, and she knew Paxton would be breaking through the foliage soon. "I'm so sorry," she whispered as she released three arrows into her family. "You've underestimated my willpower."

"You've underestimated mine," and that's when the bullet pierced her shoulder. She screamed and dropped her bow as Harold and his men escaped into the opposite tree line. Hearing another vehicle approaching.

Apollo watched her fall and looked over at Paxton, he knew Paxton would do something stupid. Apollo threw all 265 pounds of muscle ontop of Paxton making sure he couldn't get up. He wrapped both hands around his mouth too to make sure he was quiet. There was some cheers from what seemed to be an army of men. "All of you need to stay down! She's not dead, and I don't want anyone of us dead. We are outnumbered stay here!" He whisper yelled making sure he got the point across, as he shifted making sure that Paxton would not be going anywhere anytime soon.

Kevin had been writing in his journal when he heard a gunshot ring through the treetops from below him. Getting up from his resting position on the tree, he used the rope bridge he had created and dashed across to a different tree to get a better view, stuffing his journal in his pocket. He looked down just in time to spot a bullet rip itself through a woman's shoulder, the woman screaming and dropping the weapon she had been holding.

Please raise her into the stretcher, I have medical supplies up here and am relatively safe from the gunfire below.

"Oh, Shit!" Seeing the woman get shot, he quickly ran over to his rope system, the thing he used to get down from the treetops. With a couple of quick knots and adjustments, he turned the rope system into a stretcher. Quickly scribbling a note in his journal, he ripped the paper out and placed on his stretcher, then lowered the stretcher down to where the buff dude and injured woman were.

He almost screamed when she was shot, but Apollo had his mouth covered before he had the chance. He noticed Tino under the truck throwing something to send off the zombies. The men were all gone by the time the zombies decided to move along after the rock Tino threw. Luckily none of them got very close to Pandora.

He saw movement above them and took a deep breath before using skills his old coach taught him to push Apollo off. He noticed the note and read it quickly, trying to get sight of the male above. He quickly made his way to his sister, "Panda, stay with me, okay? I'm going to get you help."

She was sobbing, but he knew it wasn't from the pain. "He was right there, and they were there. They're right there. I killed them."

"Hush, save your strength." He quickly grabbed her bow and helped her over to the trees again. "Help me get her onto the stretcher." He said to Apollo.

(Here; have an unnecessarily long starter post. (<3) )

And so it begins...

Tag: N/A

Mentioned: The group on the road and in the woods

Location: Small town Road
Karayan Sioux

The small town was quiet, save for the occasional groan from a walker. It was only about two miles or so in diameter and surrounded by a thick crowd of trees with one main road running through it and winding through the forest beyond. The town didn't have too much—a few convenience stores gas stations, a reasonably-sized grocery store, a small ammunition shop with a gun range, and a small neighborhood of houses. It wasn't much to look at, and it didn't get many visitors, even before the apocalypse. Now, it was just a ghost town, crawling with the walking corpses of abandoned family members and friends and unfortunate rogues that fell pray to walker—or human—hands.

A short-haired female was perched on top of the ammunition shop, facing the front of the building towards the road with her back to the entrance to the roof. She had dozed off in a plastic lawn chair with her loaded crossbow laid across her lap. A
tactical military backpack filled with her scavenged and personal goods laid underneath her chair. A partially smoked cigarette was still lightly clamped between the middle and forefinger of her left hand. A bottle of vodka sat at the foot of her resting place, only missing about a third of its contents.

The sound of a gunshot startled her awake. Her eyes snapped open, revealing her multi-coloured irises, and her hands instinctively gripped the crossbow, dropping her cigarette in the process, and got ready to shoot. At what? She wasn't sure. As the short echoes dissipated, Karayan deducted the origination of the gunshot: it seemed to come from the woods. She furrowed her brow in confusion and relaxed a bit from her defensive position. The Russian girl could hear the eager moaning of the walkers below move collectively as they were drawn by the loud reverberations of the gunshot.
Well, at least whoever the idiot is has made it easier for me to travel.

The Sioux female picked up the bottle of vodka and took a short swig of the alcohol then bent down and picked up the cigarette, gingerly putting it between her lips. She fished her blue and silver
dragon lighter out of her pocket and ran her thumb along the starter. The flame rose up, and she brought it up to her face, re-lighting the end of the cigarette. She took a long drag off the cigarette, using two fingers to remove it from her mouth so that she could let out a cloud of smoke.

The rogue put the bottle of vodka back in her backpack and slung it over her shoulders. She grabbed her crossbow and made her way to the roof access. The door was bolted shut with a three-millimeter thick aluminum alloy wire wrapped around the doorknob and a rusted iron bar protruding from the brick wall. After undoing the precautions, she silently made her way downstairs and through the ammunition shop.

Kara stealthily made her way around to the alley behind the building where a large blue tarp rested on top of its concealed contents. She gripped one side and ripped it off carelessly, revealing a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am. It was stolen, of course, but why did that matter when it was left alone and no one claimed it in this terrible new world? Karayan lazily folded the tarp and opened the passenger door, tossing the tarp and her backpack onto the floorboard and her crossbow in the seat. She shut the door and slid across the hood, getting into the driver door and sitting down. The rogue leaned down and began messing with the wires underneath until she found the two she was looking for. A few sparks later and the muscle car rumbled to life. She shifted it into drive and drove out of the alleyway, out of the town, and down the road that wound through the woods, involuntarily towards the commotion that woke her up.

Apollo, got up to his feet as quick as he could getting to the wounded and crying Pandora. He grabbed her legs and helped her onto the rope stretcher, after a quick glance of the man who had brought the stretcher he didn't even care who he was as long as the person could help her. "Help her!" he demanded towards the boy as he looked down only to see blood gushing out of the wound. He was no doctor but he knew that wasn't a good sign.

He bent down grabbing the end of the stretcher and then nodded at Paxton as a motion to pick up the other end of the stretcher so they could get her wherever it was that this boy wanted. He glared over at the kid who had brought the stretcher with the most serious look he could give making him know that he was serious about him helping her.

Leroy almost freaked in anticipation when he saw the chaos happening before him. There was a woman, bleeding from the shoulder being slowly carried away by another male. Was she bitten? It sure looked like it, it also looked like there were multiple zombies in the area too, so that definitely didn't help her case. Leroy had only one motive when it came to bitten individuals; shoot on sight. Leroy ordered the driver to quickly park the hummer on the side of the road, the two masked individuals quickly getting out of the vehicle and pulling 360 degree security around it.

Leroy calmly stepped out of the vehicle and lit a cigaret. He pointed his AA12 at the woman and male from a distance, probably 30 meters or so from them. He made sure to keep most of his body behind the Hummer door for protection, just incase she was armed. This wasn't his first rodeo. "
Why are you bleeding, scab? If you're bit, let me know~ we have a way to treat you... A messy death-by-shotgun shell." Leroy said, almost with a happy-go-lucky sound in his voice. He slightly coughed as he fished his sentence. It would seem he needed a nice steam-bath at the bathhouse before too long, this air was getting to him. He did hear another gunshot as he drove up the road, but figured it was probably from the girl.

Pandora sobbed out, not even noticing the new man in front of her. Her brother didn't seem to at first either, more concerned with getting her to safety. She didn't feel the pain. Not physically. Her chest was pounding. "I killed them. I killed them." She screamed into Paxton's chest while he carried her to the woods.

She was on the stretcher before she knew what was happening and it was going up soon after, she just continued to sob. She didn't care about the bullet wound. It wasn't her first wound."

As soon as Kevin felt the weight on the rope increase, he began pulling up, using the help of the pulley to make the load lighter. "Let's see what I remembered from first aid training." He muttered as he saw the bullet wound, forgetting to tie the pulley in place and letting it go as the stretcher plummeted back to the forest floor. Picking the woman up, he walked over to his main tree, where all his supplies were located and where his main platform was. Laying her on his bed carefully to ensure that spinal injury did not occur, he pulled out his medical supplies and journal, flipping through it to reference how to treat bullet wounds while checking her pulse at the same time.

Glancing at his journal, he read the first line. Dial 911 and wait for emergency medical assistance. "Yeah, fuck that." Keven muttered, rubbing his hands with hand sanitizer, trying to make them as clean as possible. Looking at the woman, he said, "Uh... sorry, but I need to take off your shirt." Without waiting for a response, he quickly pulled it off, trying not to hurt her in the process. Inhaling a sharp breath at the sight of the bleeding wound, he quickly disinfected it as best he could with a cloth, then applied bandages onto the area affected, making sure to work as efficiently as possible without risk of injury.

When he finished, he took his blankets and gently draped them over her, making sure she wouldn't catch a cold above the treetops. Grabbing a water bottle from his dwindling supply, he placed it next to the woman. He then tilted her head a little to the right, ensuring that she wouldn't choke on her vile if she threw up. He then sat back down, exhausted, but happy that he had been able to help someone out with the aid of his trusty journal.

He heard Tino and cursed, passing the newcomer. "Leave her alone, if you're looking for zombies, they're this way." He pulled one of his pistols, a silencer in tact, and headed into the woods to find the kid. He wanted to be with Pandora but he couldn't leave the kid behind. He shot through a couple zombies before he spotted the kid. He pulled a knife and stabbed the zombie closest to him.

She had long since stopped babbling, the part of her that was focused in glad to know that her bralet was basically a shirt. Then again, she wasn't sure why she cared that much. She had just been shot. She had just sent arrows into the heads of her zombified family. She had missed her shot at Harold.

"Where's my brother? I want my brother." Pandora whispered, unsure if the person with her could even hear her. She was tired suddenly. She knew she wasn't dying, but she also knew she wasn't going to be much help for a little while. She felt weak, not physically, mentally. She had broken and Harold had won.

Shot? Then that gunshot from before wasn't her. Leroy lowered his shotgun and took a deep drag of his cigaret. Running wasn't his style, and only a mentally challenged person would run into the woods after zombies. It was actions such as so that made Leroy lose faith in humanity. "
You moron... Running into the woods by yourself after a horde is just asking to get your shit pushed in! *cough*" Leroy couldn't keep it in, coughing out a lot of flem. Leroy flicked his cigaret on the ground, rubbing his eyes after doing so. He had been up for the past 24 hours, this was supposed to be his day off. He usually worked from noon to noon one day, and would get the next 6-7 hours to sleep. This little scavving trip was interfering with his personal time... He also had an investigation to undergo once he had gotten back.

Being the well-related security official he was though, knew that leaving this issue unsolved would only bring problems later. Camp Waterbank had no hospitals, or even heavy medical supplies. What was the point? If anyone had gotten bitten, they would just get shot anyway... Thoughts of how the girl got shot entered his head, thinking about who would have shot another human during a time like this somewhat confused him. Leroy attempted to yell toward the woods, hoping someone would answer him. "
Who the fuck shot the chick...? What the hell is going on with this shit-show?!" Yelled Leroy, slowly pacing back and forth from his defended position. His guards had no silencers on their rifles, since they would usually move to a different spot via hummer after a gunfight. "Contact! 4 o'clock, 50 meters! Zombie!" Yelled one of the masked guards as he shot towards the woodline opposite from the one the survivors were hiding in. Leroy didn't bother wasting his shells, his guards would probably have the situation handled before shit got too serious.

Apollo rolled his eyes at the mans remark. He knew why Paxton ran into the woods.

Apollo reached down and held Pandoras hand as gently as he could knowing it wouldn't help her whatsoever but thought if he was in the same situation he would at least want someone to be there with him. He couldn't help but to mumble under his breath to Pandora. "This idiot called your brother a moron yet he's killing himself with those cancer sticks....and he has asthma...yet we are the morons.." he said thinking maybe this would at least cheer Pandora up a little bit. He hated her being so down, he knew that the three she shot had meaning to her and the man who had shot her must have done something to her. He already knew she was strong from just the few minutes he had known her. So whoever the three where she killed and the one who set her off into her current state were some bad people.

I need to get back to my sister." He lead the younger male to safety, shooting a straggling zombie as they moved. He knew his sister was strong, but he didn't know how much she could take.

Harold was a dangerous subject for her. If they ran into him again, she would do this again. She would keep doing this until she watched him die. And that scared him. He didn't recognize her when she was like this.

When they got back to the road he looked at the new male, "who are you anyway? You're clearly not with Harold." He wasn't sure if he could trust anyone he was with at this point, but he was desperate right now. Hell, he'd never leave Pandora with a stranger if it wasn't desperate measures.

She didn't like people helping her. But at this point, she didn't feel she had a choice. He did technically save her. Or at least help her.

"What's your name?" She asked after a minute, needing some sort of distraction. Her sadness had turned to anger rapidly. Her good arm reaching for the pain killers in her pocket. She had already taken some for her ankle, but she needed more now. She downed them with the water he had provided her. When they kicked in she'd go after Harold. She wasn't letting him win.

Kevin sat against the tree on the platform, staying by the bed in case he needed to help the woman with something. Just as he finished recording his configuration for creating the pulley-stretcher in his journal, the woman on the bed spoke, asking for her brother. When Kevin heard that, he almost immediately thought of his mother when he had come back to find her zombified, and felt sorry for the woman. Getting up, he moved to the woman, first checking to make sure she wasn't in shock.

"Your brother is down below, handling whatever is coming at him." He spoke in a calm and steady voice, even though he actually had no idea what was going on below, as a gunshot and a shout pierced the air. "Once he finishes his business, I'm sure he will come up and find you." He glanced below him, hoping the woman's brother was still alive. The gunshots were not assuring.

Remembering he was supposed to keep a conversation going to reassure a person, he turned back to the woman. "My name is Kevin," He said, smiling what he hoped was a kind smile. "I've been living in the trees for quite some time, but I think it's about time for me to make a run for more water. Oh!" He bent down and picked up the water he had placed beside the bed. "Are you thirsty? You lost a lot of blood there, a drink might help."

She barely listened to what he said about Paxton, she heard his voice shortly after and felt some relief. Even though she couldn't tell what he was saying.

"I'm Pandora by the way. I'll also answer to Davenport." She ran her hand over the bandage and sighed. One would think in a zombie apocalypse scenario getting shot would be the last thing to worry about. "The asshole couldn't even do it himself, he had someone else do it. You'd think he'd have enough respect for me to at least shoot me himself. You'd think he'd want to." She shook her head, "I don't know why I'm telling you this. You probably think I'm crazy." She laughed a little.

She was surprised when Pandora actually got shot. "Oh my god.." She mumbled then looked over at her. "You okay?" She asked, already knowing she wasn't.

Then, another vehicle pulled up. "What the hell do they want now?" She groaned, but different people got out now. They didn't have time for this, another horde was close.

Lyric raised her bow. "You can't shoot an arrow, but I can." She said, letting go of it. It flew past one of the men's head and hit a zombie that was coming up close. "Consider that a warning shot." She mumbled

"Alrighty, then." Kevin wasn't about to complain; he was low enough on water already. He listened patiently to Pandora as she talked about how she was shot, silently guaging her personality. She seemed relatively genuine for a survivor of the apocalypse, as she had previously only wanted to see her brother. It gave him hope that his girlfriend was still alive: he had almost given up hope that it was possible for kind people to live in the world of the undead.

Yet for some reason the woman was angry, as if getting shot in the shoulder was the worst thing that could happen to her. He suspected that she had a different reason, but he wasn't about to dig into her life. "It's fine," he replied instead. "I know how it feels to have no one to talk to."

Looking down below, he listened to the gunfire as it cracked in his ears. "Woah, how many bullets do you guys have?" He asked. "It's like you guys have a lot to spare." Checking the knots around him to ensure they were all still tight, he continued talking. "Not that I can judge, though. I'm not much of a fighter." He grabbed the leather jacket he had taken off of her, throwing it onto the bed Pandora was sitting on. "Anyway, your brother is probably looking for you. The exit you came up in is just that way." He pointed to the pulley system to his right, across a couple of rope bridges.

But that's not us. My brother's guns have silencers. That's probably Harold's gang." She frowned, getting angrier again. "Are you sure you want to stay up here? I mean, you basically saved my life, I guess, so you could come with us. We could use someone with first aid training." She really just wanted to repay the debt she felt she owed him.

"Think about." She declared, dawning her jacket and exiting the tree tops. Pulling her whip as soon as her feet were on the ground. She wrapped one end around her hand, on the injured side, and began twirling it with the other. The pain pills had kicked in and she felt like she could do a thousand pushups. She quickly found her way to Paxton, "I'm fine." She answered the question before it ever left his lips. "Who's this? Wait, I don't care. I need to go after him."

"No." Her brother stated and Pandora just stared at him like he had killed their family himself. "Not yet."

Unimaginable, the nerve of these people. Once the older male with the nice beard started talking to him, he realized he could handle himself fairly well. It wasn't like anyone could just Rambo into the woods after a horde of zombies and make it out without breaking a sweat. What was he, a superhero? "
Hope the brat was worth the trouble, superman." Spouted Leroy as a random arrow passed dangerously by him, hitting a zombie his crew was shooting at. "Whoever shot that fucking arrow *cough* needs to fucking cease fire! Fire another arrow, and I'll open fire. I'm not about to get apached by some wannabe Indian out here when I'm only *wheeze* trying to suppress the situation. You fucktards..." Gasped Leroy, now pointing his shotgun toward the seemingly friendly woodline. There were more zombies behind him, his crew still managing to shoot them off, for now. They were being attracted by the noise. Nobody had enough bullets for a full-scale assault. "We all need to ghost this fucking place! And whoever this 'Harold' guy is, he can get bent. I've never heard of him, but he sounds like a dweeb." Said Leroy jokingly, trying to keep a sane posture while still keeping the situation under control in the most professional manner as possible. Herold was a funny name.

"Pandora, no. You're talking crazy." He heard the other man's comment about Harold and tensed.

Pandora looked at the male. "I changed my mind, I do care who you are. Who are you and why do you think you can tell me what to do?" She glared at him, almost as vehemently as she looked at Harold himself. "And, I wouldn't refer to a mass murderer and rapist as a dweeb." She rolled her eyes and looked at Paxton, "you can't stop me."

"The pain killers and adrenaline will wear off soon, just relax. You can't avenge them if you die. So, calm down and listen to me for once in your life." He stared at her, hoping she took his advice. She shut up and stopped twirling her whip. "Where are you headed?" He asked the other man.

Mentioned: Leroy's men, specifically

Location: The road by the group
Karayan Sioux

Gunshots continued to ring out in the air, and she knew a horde was forming and heading in the strangers' direction. She knew she needed to get past the unnamed group and away from the area before the road became obstructed by slow-moving corpses and survivors. The exterior of the Trans-Am had been fortified as much as she could with the bumper fortified with a steel pilot, the sides protected with steel bars to minimize the amount of blunt damage against the frame, bullet-proof glass, and thick tires with all-terrain treads, but it wouldn't be able to barrel into hordes of walkers and people.

The Russian girl hadn't been on the road long before she noticed a hummer parked on the side of the road in the distance, walkers hobbling towards it with men fighting them off with heavy weaponry. She narrowed her eyes at the scene. Was this where the gunshot from earlier originated? Kara wasn't sure, but she wondered why they risked their lives by shooting guns instead of using bladed or blunt melee weapons, bows and crossbows, or at least with guns fitted with silencers.

Karayan struggled with a thought for a moment. Ramming into a few walkers didn't sound too bad of an idea; plus, it would aid in saving the strangers a few bullets. But what if they proved to be assholes? She scrunched up her face in thought, going over the pros and cons of the situation. Finally, she made a decision. Once she was close enough, she quickly spun the steering wheel left then right again, causing the car to begin sliding sideways expertly as the extra traction on her tires kept her grounded. The side of the Trans-Am rammed into the walkers, the nose of her car skidding by the armed men in at least a foot of distance.

Rotted blood splattered the side of the Pontiac and flesh stuck to the windows and steel frame. The car skidded to a stop just in time, not too far from the unnamed group. Kara let the Trans-Am idle for a moment as she leaned down and turned the manual crank on the inside of the door to roll down the window. She leaned her elbow on the window with her fingers on her cigarette and peered out at the strangers. Taking a drag off of her cigarette and blowing out the smoke, she returned the drug to her lips and gave them a thumbs up.

Guess today was full of surprises. As the mystery woman, who surprisingly even looked like Leroy, dashed the zombies with her car; Leroy returned the thumbs up. Leroy felt a little satisfied seeing all the blood and carnage from the drive-by, and wondered where these bonified killers came from. He was used to dealing with absolute scrubs that couldn't even tie their shoes without a gun pointed at them. Leroy signaled his men to cease fire, they had already implemented a great enough distraction for the hordes. As lon as they were drawn away from Waterbank, he didn't give a shit.

Leroy noticed the little kid having a temper tantrum. '
Typical scab shit' thought Leroy, not being able to contain a smile that crossed his face. Sure, there were definitely more zombies on the way, but he knew the coast would be clear momentarily. "Troops, keep a lookout while I talk to these grinders..." Spouted Leroy, followed by a slight wheeze. Leroy slowly walked toward the car that had remains of blood and carnage all over it. Keeping his right hand maintained on his weapon, he reached into his pocket and grabbed his EH; inhailing the amazing substance that had kept him kicking for all of this time. Stashing it back into his pocket, he made it to the window. "So... Where the hell you guys been all my life? I've been running a tight ship for a while, but I had no idea this small town had so many super heroes!" Said Leroy jokingly. He craved some serious alcohol right about now, considering all the excitement he had just whitenessed.

Leroy's men kept security on the unknown personnel, as well at the woods where the previous zombies came from. One of them shot jokes about the kid, while the other was cold and calculating, keeping his weapon at the low-ready. "What, this kid get bit or something? If I didn't know any better, I'd just shoot his ass on suspicion of being a damn zombie!" Laughed one of the guards. He was joking around, but he was still ready to shoot anyone stupid enough to draw on him. It wouldn't have been hard to assume that these boys were probably raiders before they were recruited, like the majority of Waterbank's security force.

Kara observed the scene silently, taking note of every movement of each stranger. A male seemed to be in charge of the armed men; that was nothing new since the end of the world seemed to always bring out the rise of small groups and communities. Once he began approaching her, she instinctively gripped the steering wheel tighter, ready to let her foot off of the break so that she could drive off as quickly as possible. The rogue didn't know this man, which meant she couldn't let her guard down.

Karayan concluded that the male had asthma or something of the sort after he breathed in the medication from his inhaler.
A weakness, she noted. He wouldn't be able to run too much before his body gave out of him, and he would tire quickly if they were to engage in any type of combat that required physical exertion. She could tell he had a similar idea as her, judging by the subtle hand hovering over his weapon defensively.

He cracked a joke as a greeting, and she couldn't help but let out a short breath of laughter through her nose. "
Saving the world, obviously," Karayan responded sarcastically, her voice thick with a Russian accent. "What else do superheroes do?" The corner of her lips turned up into a sly smirk, her heterochromatic eyes glinting with mischievousness and humour.
