These two didn't give up did they? Hyun thought that when he gave them his answer that EunJi and DongHyun would move on from the subject of clubs. He just smiled over at the two and nodded as DongHyun gave options. "I'll look into it," He told them shortly. Maybe that would finally finish the conversation and they could move on to something else. Talking about clubs was absolutely thrilling, but he'd rather not continue to be badgered into something he was never going to do. As much as he wanted to be normal, there were somethings he just couldn't chance.
It was then that the girl next to him, Areum, spoke up. He had just noticed the additional person under her arm with a pout on his face. Oh great, more people. Just exactly what he wanted. It was Areum's question, however, that made him a bit nervous. She asked about where he was from. An easy answer, sure, but the questions that come after that one were ones he didn't want to get into. Talking about where he came from was a slippery slope. Though just pretending not to have heard her wasn't an option. She was right next to him, and the girl didn't necessarily have a quiet voice. If he tried to not answer then that would be even more suspicious.
He was saved by a voice that rang out and called out to EunJi, telling the girl to quiet down. Hyun raised one eyebrow as he looked over at the girl who had yelled across the cafeteria about, get this, being quiet. Wasn't that ironic. The boy rolled his eyes. His very first thought was 'Wow, what a bitch.' He may think those sort of things, but to just flat out embarrass someone else was just rude. If this was normal Hyun he probably would have yelled back about how she should stay the hell out of other people's business, or tell her to take her own advice. But...the combination of DongHyun beating him to speaking and not wanting to draw attention to himself kept his mouth shut. EunJi may be loud, and a lot for Hyun, she didn't do anything wrong. She was just being nice and herself. So whoever this girl was, Hyun already wasn't a fan.
The appearance of two new faces caused the loner to scream internally. He was right. This DongHyun kid must be popular. Geez Hyun you idiot, blow your lay low cover in one week, great job. Or maybe he was friends with popular kids. Whatever the case, now he was surrounded by people, one of which he couldn't stand, and shouted at by crazy lady on the other side of the room. At this point he just wanted to say thanks for the little meet-and-greet and excuse himself to the library to study. With his luck, wheelchair girl or prom king would follow him and continue to give him the welcome he deserved. How lovely and sweet of them to ruin his day.
He decided to just ignore the two new faces. It seemed like they were pretty well known as well. The whole cafeteria was basically looking at them. Were they famous, or something? Honestly, he wouldn't put it past his luck. He did notice that EunJi gave DongHyun her apple as the thanks. Ok, now he was trying to make a connection here. Were they like...dating? He remembered her comment about him looking cool playing tennis and now the whole fruit thing. It looked that way, and now he was intrigued. He was about to ask about it, until the Areum decided to talk. He turned his head from the two most likely love birds and looked over at the other girl. He gave her a small smile in return. He thought they got rid of this question, but I guess not. "Daegu, I grew up there," He replied.
He watched at her eyes lit up. Oh God. Strike him dead. Please. All he wanted was this one solid, he'd never ask for anything again. Hyun was starting to wonder what her next questions would be. Things like "What school did you go to?", "Oh, why did you move?", or worse, after she learns about his old school, she'd say "I have some friends in that school! I wonder if you know any of them!" Instant death sentence. His do-over would be finished. It was her real question that shocked him. "OMG, does that mean you have gyeongsang satoori?! Like you talk funny??"
Hyun blinked at her a few times before a smile came across his face and a chuckle came out. It had completely taken him by surprise. But he'd take a question about talking funny over anything else. "No, you guys talk funny. Keeping the Seoul dialect all the time is so hard," He told her after he finished laughing. Thankfully, since his Eomma was from Seoul, he was used to talking with her in her dialect, but to anyone else, he'd just slip right into satoori. He was just glad in the moment that questions about his past weren't the first that came to mind. Hopefully, that was the case with everyone else.
