With everyone settled in around the campfire, Rab pauses in his conversation and looks up, listening intently. He finally says, "What is that noise?" He slowly stands up, reaching for is pistol as he looks around.

With this prompting you to quiet down and focus on the sound, both Raven and Dreamy hear a sound; a low whirring that is instantly recognizable to you both. The two of you would bet your lives on the fact that what you are hearing is the distinctive sound of the hover technology used by the Splurgoth Slaver Barge slowly approaching your encampment.

Just as you come to this realization, Raven's Sixth Sense starts going off in his head, and even Oleg leaps to his feet with a startled expression. OOC If Dreamy has Sixth Sense, it is also going off. Don't forget to add the Sixth Sense bonus to your roll for starting combat.

"Yet Another Movie" by Pink Floyd from their album, A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

Upon detecting the source of the danger, Dreamy does not cast a spell or shout any thoughts toward the least-capable of defending themselves - Rab, Oleg, or Sylvie. No. Dreamy does not even draw a weapon as her entire world comes crashing down. Her sightless eyes seem to gaze across the forlorn Floridian wasteland, the broken and wounded land about Highway I-95 teetering like a thing in pain under her rooted feet.

Imagine that you had been abducted. Stolen. Ripped out from the arms of your loved ones. Taken away by something so strong, so awful, so everlastingly evil that it makes your truest darkest nightmares look like a Sunday morning kids' show.

Now let us say you got lucky. It lasted a weekend. 48 hours of pure uncertainty, absolute fear, and now the word "Hell" has a different, far more personal meaning, to you. But yes. Help came. You are free once again. Embraced by your terribly worried loved ones, reunited with the life you might have taken for granted, the word "freedom" now has a different meaning too now, doesn't it? Whatever the case, you now have to live with those memories for as long as you live. Perhaps share them out of moral obligation or at the request of some law-abiding agency.

But worse, what if you cannot help but remember it all? Every waking minute of those 48 hours? What if you can no longer sleep without reliving it because something in your mind still can't make sense of it all... and perhaps it never will?

For Dreamy, this was a life left behind. One she genuinely thought was past. For the first time in what not only felt like ages, but was ages, she had dared to hope. For Dreamy, it was not two days nor two weeks. Not months. Not even years. Her hell could be measured in centuries. Countless friends lost. Numberless tortures lashed upon her until her mind cracked. For unlike humans who live but one life, the Altarian Warrior Women, unless killed, live through many via a cocooning rebirth where they gain more life much lose much still. But nothing is lost compared to when the Splugorth have you.

Perhaps it is best Dreamy the Ninja Undead Hunter cannot visually detect this oncoming harbinger of tortures known all too well. Maybe blindness is a blessing. For she hears the unmistakable sound of barge engines. Slave barge engines. With that sound, her very heart sinks. Plummets like a runaway boulder off a cliff.

The weight of twenty centuries and more falls upon her shoulders.

Dreamy was once rode upon such a slave barge. Her abilities in doing combat with the unwilling, taking alive the screaming, performing the ripping apart of families and the merciless killing of those found wanting all at the command of the Splugorth. All of this and somehow remaining as cold and as distant as all Blind Warrior Women are fated to be... was all that she was.

So... perhaps you can forgive Dreamy as she casts not a spell nor shouts a warning, but drops to her knees there in the Floridian wasteland. Her ship of freedom, under the gale of a new and sudden reality, now smashed against the rocks of realization and the most heartfelt impending doom. She weeps the sorrow of the horrors that have suddenly and shockingly returned. The lie of freedom. The sure knowledge that with one slave barge, others like it were surely nearby, along with the dreaded ship waiting just offshore. And beyond... Atlantis. Bloody Atlantis. The cursed isle of nightmares.

Dreamy thought she and her party free. But what if... all of this was just another Splugorth game?

From the harsh ground she knelt and wept upon, Dreamy's beautiful voice croaks in pain. "We were never free to begin with. All of this... yet another Splugorth game?" Her terror-filled face turns toward the Colsons. "They freed us... to capture the likes of them? All of this some plan... to capture the Colsons and follow our tracks to Turner Town to take them all next?! Oh... NO!!"

All Dreamy can do now is suffer and cry.

The atrocities Splynncryth's minions would perform upon Oleg and Rab. The soulless laughter they would have upon Raven's cries. The hellish glee the Splugorth would share as they pulled Takuma's body apart, piece by piece. How Dreamy remembered the heartless things the Splugorth did to fairies.

The things her masters would once they got their hands on poor Sylvie.

Because for some poor souls in the world... nightmares never end.

Out of the darkness, the nearly silent form of the Splurgoth Slaver slowly slides into view. Seated on the hull of the Slaver barge are three of Dreamy's fellow Altarians, two of which are armed with Net Guns while the third is armed with a TW rifle; Altarians that Dreamy recognizes from her time as a loyal servant of her alien masters. They do the Blind Woman version of locking eyes on Dreamy, and a look of pure hate crosses their features. One points an accusing hand at her and screams out, "You traitor! How could you turn your back on your sisters like this? You will suffer greatly for the betrayal of our Masters!l

EDIT
the Slaver says, "It is our good fortune to come across ones that have escaped the clutches of the slave pens. Ho hi! And I see one of our former servants traveling with them! Our fortune improves! Taker her alive."

As the Slaver starts to move once more towards your camp, weapon fire from several rail guns erupts from the bushes off to the side, causing the Slaver to suddenly activate its magic force field in an attempt to defend itself from harm. The sudden weapon fire from seemingly out of nowhere at the Slaver causes it to pause; obviously the Splurgoth forces were not expecting to encounter anyone else here besides your small encampment.

Psychie Psychie Incapable of killing her own brethren, unable to face her Splugorth masters, and in the grip of terrible despair with evidently no way out, Dreamy remains weeping on her knees. She is unaware of the new gunfire. All she knows at the moment is surprise incarnate and all-consuming anguish.

With no cards to play, Dreamy folds.

With Dreamy going catatonic, Oleg runs over to stand next to her and raises up his hands, and in between him, Dreamy and the Splurgoth a shimmering force field pops into existence to protect the two of them.

The first Altarion that is armed with a Net Rifle turns and fires it at the group of unknown attackers with the rail guns.

Rab raises up his plasma pistol and fires a burst at the Slaver, doing some good damage to the magic force field despite the Slavers' attempt to dodge.

Altarian 2 fires her TW Rifle at the force dome, but the shield holds.

Raven can feel his blood run cold at the sudden appearance of the Slaver, then, just as suddenly a spark of hope as he hears the unmistakable sounds of gunfire aimed at the monster in its barge. He thinks of the old adage that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but until he has some more data he will hold off on cheering in joy. After all, whatever it is out there may be just as much an opponent as the agents of the Splurgoth!

Until such time as he knows for sure, he has a known opponent here and now to deal with, and it seems that Dreamy is down for who knows how long. Until that force field is down, the Barrier Projector will be of limited use. Time to use my old reliable.

Taking aim, Raven fires six round burst from his auto shotgun while on the run to the side, hoping to draw fire from Dreamy and Oleg.

The uneven ground is just enough to make Raven stumble and his gunfire goes high into the air, missing his target.

The Slaver snarls out, "Leave the dross, or kill them. I care only about capturing the traitor and the fine rewards wee shall reap." It begins to move forward towards Oleg and Dreamy, and from its staff comes a bolt of energy that slams into Oleg's force field, knocking it down.

The unknown gunmen in the distance open fire on the Slaver again, and despite its best efforts to dodge, several of the rail guns manage to connect with it and drop the force field.

The third Altarian takes aim at Raven with her forearm blaster, and she will hit you unless you can dodge.

Now that we have that settled, I'll have a Raven take the one hit aimed at him and hope his MDC is going to last.
Sherwood Sherwood Trusting in your defenses, you take a total of 22 MD.

Sylvie zips up into the air and shouts out, "You stupid Bigs! You are gonna get it now! Magic Net!" From the hands of the small fairie comes a spray of glowing red filaments of energy that descend down on the Slaver Barge hull, tangling up the three Altarian women on it and even tangling up the Slaver itself a bit. The Barge is not netted to the ground, so it can still move, but until the Net is either cut away or dispelled, it will seriously inconvenience the four Splurgoth servants and make them all vulnerable.

Takuma decided to go in and punch the slaver, the women who looked like dreamy would be dealt with later as the big guy is the one that needs to die.

He jumps on the fat slaver and gives him a hard mechanical punch to the creature as his weapon would only stun its not good to hurt.

In order for you to be able to damage the Slaver and not harm the Net it will require a Called Shot of 16 or better on the dice, and it will use up two melee actions. If you still wish to do so, go ahead and roll to hit.

With a powered leap, Takuma launches himself through the air, but with the Slaver Barge still being mobile, it shifts enough to throw off your punch and you miss.

Incapable of killing her own brethren, unable to face her Splugorth masters, and in the grip of terrible despair with evidently no way out, Dreamy remains weeping on her knees. She is unaware of the new gunfire. All she knows at the moment is surprise incarnate and all-consuming anguish.
Inside of Dreamy's tortured brain, there is no way out. Nowhere to go. No place to fall... except down. For there are nightmares and demons in every world, every brain, every soul from which the pits of Hell yawn wide and for the alone and friendless, there is no escape.

But Dreamy is not alone. The freed Blind Warrior Woman is far from friendless. Her deepest friend of all lies not within the Rabson family nor even those powerful few she and Owl rescued from the overbearing domination that was Atlantis, but from a little-known being that shares her body with her.

Some would call it a parasite. Dreamy would call it her bringer of salvation.

Her world continues to crumble around her as she hears, as only the Blind Warrior Women of Altara can, the harsh orders of the demonic Slaver Minion. Immediately part of her bows as she has thousands and thousands of times, either to whip or to word, each command creating feelings of utter helplessness and hope-choking despair.

Yet still she is not alone. Something literally inside of beautiful Dreamy feels all of this - a special something that shares her body, her mind, her feelings, and her very destiny. It is Lumpy. The caring symbiote silently fights back with emotions true and memories real against 2,000 years of hatred, dominance, and... worst of all... primal fear. Under the grip of terror, Dreamy screams impossible things.

"Lumpy! Flee before they get you too!"

Suddenly, her thoughts are usurped as her very consciousness is wrenched back through the wisps of time to memories of finer times, amongst secrets dark and dangers just as real as now...

* * *

Then...
Her two-handed curved blade drawn, steel crashed upon steel though Dreamy never saw a single spark. Instead, her Altaran abilities more than compensated for her lack of sight. For what was shadow to one born blind? Dreamy felt her master's greater weight and size bearing down on her as 500 pounds of pure animal-become-something-more descended upon her, his blade mercilessly seeking the soft skin of her bare neck. The only thing between them was Dreamy's own sword - Violence - and that naked blade was wavering.

Underneath her sweating limbs, Dreamy's will to survive was wavering too.

"Do you fear for your life?!" barked a roar that pounded against her ears.

"Yes!"

"You cannot face my strength!" A single stomp made the stones beneath her feet buckle. "You cannot surpass my skill!" Her master's whistling blade curved in a most-unnatural arc forcing her to parry again while his second blade rested on his hip, ready for action. "You cannot face my will!" He pushed her back and carried both of their straining bodies through the bits of rubble their battle had produced.

"Your time is up! What now can you do?"

He bent forward, his 9 feet in height towering over her, his massive muscles threatening to overbear her. Dreamy found her own stance beginning to crumble. She summoned up something inside of her as she felt his hot canine breath upon her face, his jaws snapping at her face. When it seemed he had her at last, she spat - right into his eyes. What was no matter for her was sudden and surprising for one who relied upon their eyesight.

"Ahh!"

She released her sword causing him to pitch forward. Her weapon soared and clanged against the stones. When his great girth slammed powerfully into the rock-strewn floor, he spun on his back - only to find sharp steel point there against his neck... and the panting Altaran holding it. He recognized that sword - his second sword - the sword he had kept sheathed on his waist. One thrust and there would be nothing stopping her from walking away with it.

Dreamy pressed her free hand against its pommel. "My answer? I stop playing your game," she smiled, "and make you play mine."

The silence about the pair filled the ruins all about them. Then came applause from half a dozen hands, including her master's own. She bowed. He bowed back ending the lesson. She reached down and helped him to his feet though he hardly needed it.

The great canine's pride was unwounded. "To be bested by a former Blind Warrior Woman, I find no shame in it. For what you lack in experience and skill, you have in natural Altaran ability. Remain diligent and you will grow sharper. But for now, how do you feel, Dreamy-san?"

"Terribly surprised, wise one." She properly returned his sword to him. "What I did there was... new! My people are largely an honest folk. We are not often keen to subterfuge."

"Then you shall be the first," said yet another of her masters. Soon, all six of them were with her. Her surprise stayed and was coupled with feelings of satisfaction and happiness for she could feel their attention upon her.

"Dreamy-san," hissed her master who slithered noiselessly across the stones. "With your freedom comes a destiny of your own choosing. Whether you choose to face your foes honorably or with subterfuge, remember - a true shinobi forever possesses the means to fight... any way she chooses."

"But my fear leeched away my confidence. It threatened to steal my skill. Masters," she said the word without fear unlike thousands of times during her enslavement, "how do you deal with fear?"

Each of her masters spoke.

"Fight fear... with focus. Like a hot teapot, put it aside. Let it cool. Pick it up and meditate on it... later. You might be surprised to learn how many fears simply die to time. Like a candle without air, fear without fuel is no longer fear."

"Your giri - your duty - comes first. All else are distractions. For a shinobi, the worst distraction of all is fear."

"Being able to put aside fear, indeed to put aside all deep emotions, is the first real step to Mu - absolute nothingness. For where there is nothing to fear, there is nothing to stop you. No reason to hesitate."

"If you hesitate during battle, you will fail. With Mu, you will act without hesitation. Your mind and your giri will be as yin and yang. Perfect harmony. Perfect nothingness. Freedom incarnate."

"Learn to embrace fear, Dreamy. Embrace it. Then let it go. Let the past go. Never chase it. Forgive it. Only then can you live NOW - in this moment... and do... as a shinobi must."

To let the past go. This was a goal Dreamy felt she could strive for.

* * *

Now...

As the words of The Shining Six flood through her, Dreamy allows her senses to finally reach out all across the battlefield. Lumpy had been successful - the memories of her masters were hers to interpret and act upon. Dreamy found her fears... fear of recapture, fear of the torturing of her friends, fear of her failure as a shinobi... were gone like a mist burned away by a great glorious sunrise.

Like a summer sunrise, Dreamy feels hot. Her breathing comes like a racing panther. Her teeth clench as her lips pull back into what can only be called a primal growl of womanly wrath. For Dreamy's awful feelings of fear have been replaced... by a moment of rage. While there is nothing she can do for her fellow Altarians that serve the Minion Slaver, there is one foe she can most certainly face - the Minion Slaver himself.

For a single moment, Dreamy appears to somehow look directly at the Minion - her face contorts into a snarling mask of pure hatred. For THIS is the only thing standing between her friends and their freedom! If the Minion Slaver falls, they are free again! It must die!

"If Looks Could Kill (Remastered)"

With a deep breath of self-control, Dreamy the Ninja Undead Slayer accepts this feeling... and tries to let it go. As quickly as it came, her rage is gone. Placed aside. Like a hot teapot. Calmness like a summer dawn falls about her lovely face as she enjoys the sensation of feeling her hard emotions fall away into the ether of the past. Self-control is a choice, she decides.

In her hands, she feels Tranquility, her ever-dependable Briarwood bow. In her mind, she feels skills once badly hampered by the ambush of the Slaver barge return in full force as she calls upon her sharpshooting skills and all of the shinobi skill she can muster!

Something inside of her then understands that while she has emerged from the blackest pits of her own personal hells, she did not crawl out on her own. Something - someone - that loves her helped her all through it. It provided her the memories and thus the path she needed to follow to be where she is now.

"I love you, Lumpy!"

She takes aim not at the barge nor the Slaver Minion's head but at the wrist muscles holding his darkly-magical staff - that evil sorcery tied to the minion himself! With all that she has, Dreamy fires to disarm - to get the staff out of its hand. Dreamy looses the shaft - and whether it strikes or not, she shouts out loud to all who have ears to hear:

"Hear me! Destroy that staff! It is the key to his evil!"

As she shouts, something deep inside of Dreamy's soul adds, "... and my path to becoming a true shinobi like my masters!"

Dreamy's arrow flies straight and true, striking the Slaver in the arm and making it drop the staff it was carrying. The staff doesn't go very far since it was partially stuck in the Magic Net that was cast on the Slaver and it's henchmen, but at least it's not carrying out at the moment.

Oleg cups his hands together and a small ball of flame forms in between his palms. He hauls back and throws it at the staff, but his aim is off and his attack missed.

The first Altarian snarls out a series of nasty curse words but does little else thanks to being trapped in that Net.

Rab fires on the staff with his pistol, and his aim is much better than the teenager and he scores a solid hit with his burst from the plasma pistol.

Altarian two is fighting to free a hand to be able to grab a knife on her hip to cut herself free. It will be some time before that can happen.

The staff! It is out of the grasp out the Slaver, but not for long. I have only one shot at this, so I'd better make it count!

Kicking in his flight tattoo for the needed burst of speed, Raven shoots forward, heedless of any risk to himself to try and get that dangerous weapon away from the searching reach of the Slaver.
I'll also spend an Action Point to try and make my mad dash work.

Raven madcap flight forward puts him in the middle of the hail of bullets and energy blasts and in a flash you manage to snag the end of the Slavers staff. For a moment, you are pulled to a stop by the Magic Net, but with a mighty roar the Atlantean manages to yank the weapon free and clear of the Net.

The problem now lies in the fact that Raven lost all his forward momentum, leaving you, at least for the moment, standing/flying right on top of the barge.

The Slaver swings a massive clawed hand at Raven, and it will hit unless you dodge or parry.

From the concealment of the tree line comes a trio of figures. One looks to be a full conversion Borg that is at least eight feet tall, and the other two are normal human sized, one wearing lightweight Juicer armor and the third is wearing what looks to be a conglomerate of different armor suits all stuck together. All three are packing lightweight rail guns, and as they advance, they continue to pour fire on the Slaver.
