The Scarlet Company​

Disillusioned, forlorn, and molded by the bureaucratic values of the morbid world. The ingredients of a dangerous concoction. The question is when? A step into the past, and one may have heard of old legends, for that is all that they are. Ignorant of the past, and the future surely will repeat itself. The year is 1763, a few months after the end of a certain global conflict. A certain Lord Marlowe Scott of Blackford had chosen to settle in the colonies following the Empire's victory. With time on his side, Scott is poised on cultivating his land grant. With every day that come to pass, his resolve only prove prudent, and his acquaintances ever growing. The Scarlet Company, the Lord's circle of acquaintance and loyal personnel will carry out his bidding.

Bio:
Youngest son of a noble Scottish family, Marlowe was raised in a well-off house of gentry. Despite his background, Marlowe received less affections compared to his brother, of whom had shown great promises since the age of fifteen. Marlowe on the other hand, was mediocre in his studies. Perhaps it was the turbulent Jacobite Rebellion that shaped his childhood, Marlowe never prided himself with the visions that his parents expected of him like his brother. Instead, he was keen on treading his own path, and by the age of 18, he had graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a major agricultural degree and minor law degree and set out to enlist in the British army.

In 1757, he was commissioned as a captain and fought alongside Lieutenant Colonel James Wolfe at Rochefort on mainland France. While the operation was a failure, he was recommended by Wolfe himself and would go on to serve under the man when they were deployed to North America. Marlowe served as a company captain attached to Forbes during the latter's expedition, then later at Abrahams Plain when his superior officer Wolfe was fatally wounded. Marlowe would then go on to participate in a series of sporadic skirmishes that culminated in the eventual Battle of Signal Hill in 1762. Marlowe took a bullet to his shoulder and a saber cut to his left arm and was taken off the line for medical treatment. When the French surrendered their post, Marlowe would soon be made a brevetted Lieutenant Colonel for his bravery.

Rather than return home, Marlowe remained in America, having been given a land grant. His regiment was soon disbanded after the war ended. Using what pensions he had left, Marlowe would gather his old comrades, of whom most would share his cause in a bid to realize his new dream - a true New World, as he called it. With time on his hand, and those loyal to his cause, the Scotman is now keen on expanding his newfound ideals, exacting his self-indulged sense of justice with whatever is necessary.

Bio:
Born in Eastern Prussia, Charlotte is a Hohenzollern by heart like her parents. She is a well-groomed noble lady that seeks that forge her own road in life, while retaining a strong nationalistic ideal. She believes in a strong state and dislikes dissents and seeds of doubt. As such, Charlotte is sharp in her approach of others and critical of their endeavors. She spent her early childhood in Prussia, then England briefly. Her immediate parents eventually migrated to the British colonies before war broke out between Britain and France.

Charlotte then lived in a small German community in Virginia, working and studying her way to become a renowned landowner. Vicious and cunning in her ways, Charlotte made a name for herself as the Mistress of New Essen. Denied of her law degree for being a woman, Charlotte exacted her grievances by seizing her wrongdoers' lands via legal means and timely efforts with politics. The surrounding cotton and tobacco plantations near New Essen are effectively under her name. She eventually moved north and was acquainted with Lord Scott of Blackford.

Charlotte holds a strong sense of British loyalty, and will look for any fault in the Black Scot's endeavors. While their interests are aligned in commercial and business ventures, Charlotte is first and foremost a loyal colonist. She abides by her time, waiting for a spark of disloyalty from the man and she would be able to seize his estate. For her, it is nothing of personal sentiments, only business.

Bio:
Born in county Galway in Ireland, JP was subjected to the hardships of life for the common man in Ireland from the start, almost not making it past his first year because of the famine of 1740, his family was one of farmers and woodsman, and despite their cleaving's to religion, he never found solace in God or church, the penal laws regarding Catholics and the lower class Irish, as well as the puppet parliament and rich Anglo-Irish northerners who supported England. As he grew he spent more time in the woods and rolling hills, his affinity for nature gave him solace to know he was walking the same grounds the ancient Celts, his skill at pathfinding and eventually hunting grew.

His hatred for the English was solidified when his father was press ganged into the British army to fight in the War of Austrian Succession. They received news later in the year that he had died in the war, leaving him and his brother fatherless and straining the family even more. As he grew older he became a proficient hunter, able to track most animals as well as sharpening his survival skills in the wilderness. The suffering of his ailing mother only embittered him more, and he began poaching on the lands of the protestant Irish. His skills at evading capture and recognizing movement patterns of the sheriff's and authorities tasked with catching him, These skills would help him in his future military career.

The straw the broke the camel's back was when the british returned in 1756, a lieutenant came through galway, and JP's younger brother, Jeremy, was selected. Unwilling to allow his father's fate to claim another of his family, he left in the middle of the night. The following morning the lieutenant was found with a fatal stab wound, and JP was gone.

He started a journey to Cork, never stopping for long periods of time. Eventually stowing away on a ship bound for France, he successfully made it and enlisted in the French army where he was transferred to the Irish brigade. He served with distinction as a scout and sniper, he found he had gotten a taste for blood after taking the life of the lieutenant back in Galway, he became a popular soldier among his fellow Irishmen and French, and a notorious, unamed soldier that sniped officers and made men disappear during the night.

Eventually his tenure in the Brigade ended with the war, and with the money he made he moved to the British colonies, settling in Pennsylvania among the Quakers, he moved to the frontier wilderness, he was fascinated by the Indian's of the colonies and learned their habits as well as their preferred prey. Eventually making contact and trading with members of the Iroquois confederacy.

On a hunt he ran afoul of a black bear, which severely mauled him, he managed to kill it with his knife only, a feat which he boasts about frequently, he has the scars to prove it, and it has given him a reputation to the natives as a man not to run afoul of and a respected warrior.

Bio:
Born in Limerick, Ireland, Gaige was sold into slavery at the young age of four. Transported to America and brought up on a german plantation Gaige had very little time to be a child. Forced to mature at a young age and subject to harsh working conditions from the age of five with nothing more than some straw and stale crumbs to call her own, Gaige has quite the troubled past. Her rebellious attitude and quick wit making that troubled past even harsher.

Raised by her fellow slaves Gaige was thought many things, how to wield a knife, how to take a punch, how to mask one's intent, how to earn respect, native tongues and most importantly how to make others part with what you want. At the age of 15 Gaige and another twenty or so slaves managed to escape the plantation and although many went their separate ways following this Gaige found refuge with a local tribe alongside a fellow slave who had originally come from said tribe.

From here Gaige learned even more things, she learned how to hunt, how to divine water, how to dance, how to gain trust and the value of that trust. During this time she also learned how to barter and make a trade. Something that would change her life for the better.

At the age of 19, Gaige began dabbling in what one could deem the underworld of America at the time. Gaige took her first life at this age, beat up innocent people for the first time at this age and learned several underhanded techniques for the first time. Once Gaige had a taste she was immediately hooked. The young slave girl who was adopted by the tribe soon became one of it's most valued members. With time other tribes came to unite with Gaige's and before long the once small little tribe she had joined at 15 was one of the largest and most infamous tribes in all of Pennsylvania.

Not a thing goes on in the state of Pennsylvania without Gaige knowing about it. Not a single crate leaves or arrives at the docks without her say so. Of course, their are other gangs in the state and of course, Gaige has competition but even so, Gaige's name is far-reaching and the respect the natives and residence have for her is nothing short of overwhelming.
