And So It Begins...
It has been nearly six months since the murder of Kouka Kingdom's king in the largest coup the kingdom has ever seen. Ever since then, the princess and her bodyguard have been on the run. However, with the help of a prophet, the princess decided to find the Four Dragon Warriors of legend. And so they set off with the prophet's assistant in tow.

Surprisingly, after barely a few months, the princess, bodyguard, and prophet's assistant found all four Dragon Warriors. However, instead of using their power to take back her kingdom, the princess has decided to make Kouka Kingdom a better place.

Well. So long as they don't get caught by the current king's lackeys.

Jae

Stupid internal sundial, always waking him up too early. Jae was starting to get real tired of not sleeping in. He didn't care if their little traveling party was always setting out in the early morning--sleep was important, dammit!

Ah, well. He digressed. The sunrise was especially lovely this morning. At least, that was the impression Jae got from his vantage point up in a tree. Sunlight shone through the leaves and dappled the ground below, where the princess and the others slept. Jae watched the light dance across his comrades' bodies, his face as expressionless as it always was. He allowed a tiny grin to quirk up the corner of his lips, but then he looked back up at the sky. Another day of travel, I suppose...

It was getting boring, sitting here awake. So Jae decided to wake everyone else up.

Hopping to the ground, Jae put his hands on his hips and boomed, "COME ON, YOU LAZY BAGS OF BONES. IT'S TIME YOU ALL WOKE UP. I'M STARVING OVER HERE."

Nothing like subtlety to brighten up a gorgeous morning.

Yukimaru Naga
The White Dragon

tsurumaru_kuninaga_by_matcharie-d8z33c7.jpg
Yukimaru dreamt of the cold. Of the unending, pitch black loneliness that swallowed him as he sat alone, on hard stone, waiting for someone who would never return. The white continued to pile. His chest constricted. His vision blurred. Still, he felt nothing from his numb fingers. Heard nothing, but the harsh howls of the wind and a racking cough that could only be his own. He could feel himself being drawn into the darkness.

Then a voice sounded. Cocky. Egotistical. It nonetheless sparked recognition within him. Suddenly, Yukimaru was no longer a child, but a young man.

The dream shattered.

Lids blinking awake, the White dragon pushed himself into a sitting position, his scaled hand rubbing his sleep-filled eyes. It was unusual him to sleep in, but, then again, it wasn’t his turn on watch duty either. Golden orbs flickered from the dying embers to the dark haired noble that had woken him, hands on hips.

No. Not noble. Fugitive now. The former General of Kouka that protected a wanted Princess. She was gathering he and his brothers for…well…who knows what? The dragon blood called to her, so there was little doubt she was the descendant of Hiryuu that all who inherited his arm were destined to serve. None of that mattered to him. The White Dragon Clan was dead.He joined her because she resembled a stray cat that needed help.

That was all there was to it.

Clawed hand covering an insuppressible yawn, Yuki stretched a moment before replying. “And a good morning to you too, Darkness Dragon.”

Pulling the blanket closer to his sitting form, Yuki decided that it was cold and he didn’t want to part with it just yet. Dragons were reptiles, after all. Or, at least, that was his excuse for feeling lazy this morning. Craving warmth. It’d been a long time since he’d thought of his past. Shooting Jae a friendly smile, Yuki continued in a mild manner that showed none of his troubled thoughts.

“Did you sleep well?”

Se-Eun
Scenario: WAKE UP | Interactions: Mei ( izayoiix izayoiix ), Jae ( AnimeGenork AnimeGenork ), Yukimaru ( QuirkyAngel QuirkyAngel )

Eun snuggled closer to Mei, enjoying the warmth of the makeshift blankets. Their journey has been rather peaceful lately, Eun only having to worry about what to make for dinner the next day to feed people that could eat 10 servings each. She thought she could have enjoyed sleeping in once in a while. When a sudden, booming alarm made Eun's heart leap out of her chest. She sat up, throwing the thin sheet of a blanket away as her eyes shot open in alarm. It took her a moment to process the words out of the smug-looking male. Her horror-struck face turned into a scowl and she pulled her top over her head as she threw it at Jae.

"If you're hungry, make a fire and eat the leftovers, dammit! You scared the shit out of me!" Eun shouted back, and shocked at how Yukimaru was so calm. As expected from a beauty, maybe. But her crankiness made her snap at him too, albeit unintentionally. "You can be more angry at Jae, Yukimaru! Don't hold back!" She pointed an accusing finger at the general.

She groaned and growled, mumbling more curses under her breath as she stomped out of the tent. The morning breeze barely cooling her anger off. She lifted the pot lid from last night's dinner, there was barely one serving left. The sight just made her grumble more, shuffling towards the pile of dry grains and fruit. Eun stared at it, thinking what she could make from what they had left and not at all about the fact that she was walking around topless. They'd have to go hunting again after breakfast.

Abzu
Blue Dragon

Darkness was all that could be seen. Blurred images of red, blue, and yellow attempted to flash through the wall of black but instead of a visual cue breaking through, it was a shout that blared inside Abzu's sleeping mind. Not used to loud, abrupt noises from people, and truthfully still not used to just having other people around in general, Abzu's eyes shot open in panic. The young man's first instinct was to end whatever woke him up. His pupils were constricting in anger and he could feel a small flare of his power awakening inside of him as he looked around to see who was the source of his rude wake up. But as he moved, he could feel his body losing balance and then with a single thrust of his arm to his left, the blue-haired man fell to the ground from the branch he had chosen to sleep on. A scream sounded as his body made contact with the surface, but it wasn't his scream. Rather it was his furry companion. Kumo, his white ferret companion, was sleeping inside Abzu's shirt which meant he too was taken down to the ground.

The air was knocked out of Abzu and an ache began to spread across the backside of his body. He released out a soft groan and threw an arm over his eyes to calm himself down. Hearing the voices of the others around him he concluded that it was none other than the black turd--Jae. A small growl was rumbling inside of Abzu as he slowly sat up, but it was not Kumo growling, it was the blue-haired man himself. The fact that it was him who woke him up made the situation worse. He wasn't too fond of the bodyguard and his...ego.

It appeared as though Abzu wasn't the only one who was annoyed by his shouting as his eyes wandered over to Eun. On the other hand, the White Dragon, Yukimaru, seemed unfazed by Jae's shouting. A soft tug on his hand brought Abzu's attention back over to Kumo as the small critter chirped. He could tell that his companion was telling him to calm down. Honestly at times it seems as though the animal was more human than him. Abzu sighed and pulled the hood of his cloak over his head, "You're right Kumo. I cannot kill him." Once the ferret heard his answer, he released another chirp before scurrying over to where Mei was at, wanting to receive a morning greeting from her.

Abzu's eyes had followed the tiny form, a small smile forming on his face as he watched Kumo. His eyes had then wandered over to Mei when he stopped in front of her. If it hadn't been for the actual power of the dragon residing in him, Abzu would have never believed that the red-haired girl was the Crimson Dragon. But the pull was there. And now they were somehow suppose to help the girl make the kingdom a better place. As if. Abzu couldn't align his belief to hers since he was convinced that the kingdom couldn't become a better place since the people in it were hopeless. He felt that in order to better the kingdom, one would have to better the people. But who could change people? Not wanting to anger himself by overthinking things, Abzu decided to stand up and walk over to lean against the nearest tree.

[div class=background]

[div class=textbox]At the loud shout, followed by more yelling, the young red-haired girl jerked awake with a small gasp. Her eyes were still glazed over from sleep and her breathing was fast paced at the suddenness of her awakening.

As the seconds ticked by and the voices around her continued to bicker, Mei could feel the sweat causing her clothes to stick to her small frame under the blanket as if they were drops of burning fire. As the haze started to clear from her mind, the echoes of her dream continued to replay in the back of her head as she jerkily shoved the blanket off of her, not even feeling the chill of the cool air as it raised the hairs on her arms. Absentmindedly she began to scratch at her one arm, the other gripping her elbow. It was almost as if she could still feel the blood of her father on her skin as he fell to the ground in front of her.

There was a loud crash and the young princess was jerked out of her thoughts, wide eyes darting over to Abzu who had fallen from the tree he was perched in and her mind instantly wondered if he was okay. She frowned as he began to growl then seemed to calm as Kumo chirped at him and tugged at his sleeve.

Something seemed to pass between the two that calmed the blue-haired man, and at the sight of him relaxing, Mei slowly began to do the same. As Kumo ran over to her, a distant smile spread across her face as she gingerly unlocked her arms from their previous position and reached down to collect the ferret and bring him closer to her. As her smile began to gain a sense of realness she brought the fuzzy animal up to her face and nuzzled her cheek against him in greeting, appreciating his presence as her dream finally began to leave her immediate thoughts.

"Good morning, Kumo." she greeted him quietly, her smile turning gentle as he chirped back at her. Brushing her hair aside, she placed the animal on her shoulder before pushing herself to her feet so she could start the day. Now that her mind was working right and functioning properly, she could recognize that it had been Jae who had been the start of the yelling. "He's a bit impatient, isn't he?" she whispered to the ferret as she began to roll up her bedroll.

Kumo chirped again in response, causing her to giggle softly.

Once her bedroll was away and her things tidy and ready for her to grab once she finished getting dressed for travel, she turned and clasped her elbows with her palms. "J-Jae...was it really necessary to y-yell?" she asked quietly as she approached him, biting her lip. As she stood behind her oldest friend and bodyguard, Mei angled her body so she was also facing the rest of her companions.

"G-good morning, Yukimaru, Abzu, E-Eun....u-um...is there anything I can do to help?" she asked the other girl awkwardly. She knew she tended to get in the other girl's way, more often than not becoming a hindrance. Mei bit her lip once more. She wished she knew how to do stuff like Eun did. That way she could actually be helpful instead of useless and in the way. She sighed internally at the thought as she looked at all of her companions in turn.

She hated to let them down and be such a burden.

Bai Yeung

Bai slept in relative comfort beneath her thin covers. It had been a while since she felt so at peace in her dreams, the constant aching of her back bringing about faceless demons without name or origin. However, today she felt no pain. The nightmares were replaced with dreams of tender meats bathed in a variety of sweet fragrances, steam buns filled to the brim with chopped vegetables and pig flesh, and delectable soft treats that she remembered seeing but couldn't put a name to. Saliva dribbled down stiff cheeks that twitched ever so slightly, but never fully managing to curve upward into smile. Despite her lack of expression, one could tell that the woman had been having a wonderful dream. Bai only turned once to gnaw on the sheet that acted as her headrest. The cow flesh was tender in her thoughts, the juices bringing her to a place she could have sworn was Nirvana. Just before she could take a bite of the fluffy buffet of pork dumplings a shout from beside her caused her to wake. Her chewing slowly came to a halt, her pillow soaked heavily with drool and decorated with teeth marks. Her canines had left minuscule hole marking in the fabric as she released her grip on the pillow and opened her eyes to reveal a pair of dull sullen green irises.

She yawned, raising a hand to her face before getting up herself. The sheets fell to her lap, revealing the bandages that held her chest in place. Bai had a habit of sleeping without her cloak, only wearing it when doing daily activities or in public spaces. However, they were incredibly uncomfortable for her to sleep in. That's what she claimed about most forms of clothing, preferring to sleep naked if her Master hadn't drilled into her head the fact that clothes were a necessary part of being a respectable human. She didn't understand how the two related to one another, but heavy blows to the head taught her better than to argue with the old geezer. Another yawn escaped her mouth, her eyes quickly adjusting to the brightness of her surroundings. She scanned the area for a moment assessing the situation. There was a black haired man who seemed to be the cause of the disturbance. Near him were a pair of boys a little bit shorter than herself, one with blue hair and the other with white. The white one seemed awfully cheery in stark contrast to the darkened attitude of the blue haired one who leaned against a tree. Strange. She continued to look at the other people in the group, a young girl near a pot and a pile of soot. Another girl of fiery red went to check up on her while seemingly scolding the loud black haired man about his methods. Bai tilted her head in confusion. Who?

"That's right. I'm not there anymore." she muttered, yet another yawn escaping her mouth.

Bai remembered that she decided to journey with these people. Jae-won, Yukimaru, Abzu, Se-Eun, and Mei. Yes, those were their names. Scratching her forehead, she couldn't help but think that she was forgetting something else. She couldn't remember what it was. Shrugging off the lost thought, she took another glance at the Mei girl, her hair burning intensely under the morning sun. She was important. Bai didn't understand it, but she did know that Mei was special to her. She turned her head to look at the girl near the pot once more. Se-Eun. Se-Eun ... Se-Eun! Her eyes widened as she stood in the direction of her travel bags. With the blanket fully off her, her clothed figure covered in only a bandages that stop slightly above her stomach and a out of place loincloth that covered her bottom fairly well were exposed. The loincloth was the only proper undergarment or so her master would say. Rummaging through her bags, she pulled out a large red bowl and made her way to Se-Eun, ignoring her appearance as well as all those around her. She bypassed Mei and bent herself down to Se-Eun's stature, pushing her bowl towards her.

"Food." she called.

Bai held great respect for Se-Eun since, in her eyes, Se-Eun was equivalent to food and rarely did she ever disrespect food. A slight breeze broke her out of her trance as she looked around at everyone, remembering that there were indeed other people there.

"Morning." she stated keeping her out-stretched hand holding her bowl near the food ... girl working with the pot. Mornings were rough for Bai. She couldn't speak in full sentences, her brain lacked the energy needed to function properly. Returning her gaze to Se-Eun she repeated.

"Food... Please."

It was nice to see that even though he was no longer the Kouka Kingdom's Wind Clan General, Jae still commanded respect and attention.

Well. Attention, at the very least.

Yukimaru was the first to respond, using the nickname Jae had graciously accepted in the company of the other dragons. He, at the very least, clearly understood the true kind intentions that lay beneath Jae's cocky smirk... or maybe he was simply masking how angry he was at the impromptu wakeup. As helpful as it was supposed to be. "I slept well, thank you, Yuki. No nightmares, at the very least."

Eun, however, was not so friendly. She began yelling at him, even going so far as to throw her shirt at him. It was a strange reaction, to be sure, but Jae couldn't exactly say he was displeased by it. Removing said shirt from his face, Jae simpered, "I was unaware there were leftovers, Eun, considering how much we all eat." Eyeing her now topless upper half, he added, "If you wanted me to help you undress, Eun, you should have said so."

There was a distinct crash back near where Jae had slept. He turned, only to find the Blue Dragon getting to his feet. Wincing in sympathy, Jae called, "Sorry, Abzu. I didn't mean for that to happen. If you could, please don't kill me. I'm sure Mei would be absolutely heartbroken if I died." Abzu's ferret friend, Kumo, scampered off, most likely to Mei. He was rather fond of her.

Think of the princess, and she shall appear. Mei was suddenly behind him, and he had to refrain from letting his guard down. Months of traveling had brought them closer than they'd ever been allowed at the castle. As great as that would be under different circumstances, he was her bodyguard and she was his princess. There were limits.

Lamenting that his eyes probably gave his true feelings away, he nodded to Mei. "Good morning, Princess. I trust you slept well?" He gave her a small smile to emphasize the answer to her adorably stammered question. "Of course I had to yell. Otherwise, we'd never get anywhere." She wandered closer to the fire, where Eun was, in order to be more helpful. It was probably Jae's favorite part about Mei; always so willing to help, even if she wasn't sure she do much.

Out of the corner of his eye, Jae noticed a flash of green. Bai had awoken, and she'd immediately approached Eun and the food she was preparing. "See, Eun? Even Bai seems to agree that you cooking is better than heating up leftovers that may or may not exist."

Just a normal day in the Kouka Kingdom. Two fugitives and their dragon-blooded companions.

Yukimaru Naga
The White Dragon

tsurumaru_kuninaga_by_matcharie-d8z33c7.jpg

“Ahh, look at what you’ve done Jae,” Yukimaru shook his head, though there was a bit of laughter in his tone. Eun tossing her shirt at Jae had caught him a bit off guard as well. “Now Eun is mad at me as well.”

Intentional or not, egotistical or not, it had been Jae’s voice that had broken through the nightmare. Yuki was glad to have heard it. Glad for the man’s strange sense of humor, which had jolted him from his own personal darkness. Not Yuki intended to admit that to the former general lest it get to his head. Besides, he might’ve been the only one not bothered by Jae’s wake up call.

Even the Blue Dragon lost his balance in suprise—granted it hadn’t been long since he’d join their group so it was little wonder the guy wasn’t used to the yelling. Jae being a morning bird wasn’t entirely new.

“Morning~” A nod and smile at the mouse-like princess and the food-loving green dragon that greeted them before Yuki glanced back at the shirt in Jae’s hands.“It’s best you give Eun back her clothes lest you end up in further trouble.”

Pushing aside the thin blanket, he decided it was better to get up and help than to further aggravate the girl that cooked their meals. Movement was another way to keep warm, after all.

The motion exposed his katana, which hung at his right side at all times. A keepsake from his caretaker, Yuki didn’t feel safe sleeping without it at his side. A weapon on hand was always useful— especially since he and his travel companions were essentially criminals. However, the blade also occupied a special place in him. Even now, it was the one thing he refused to lose.

Taking the time ensure his weapons and stolen pieces of armor where in place, Yuki tossed on his cloak which protected his body from the cool morning air. A fingerless glove was slipped over his left hand whereas his right hand was casually hidden within the folds of white. He wasn’t particularly ashamed of that part of his anatomy. However, the less people saw it, the less trouble there would be—something he’d learned from experience. Plus, habits die hard.

Once he finished folding up the sheets and securing it on his travel bag, he dispersed the leaves that made his makeshift bed so as to destroy any evidence that a human had slept there. He’d help to take down the women’s tent as well, to hasten their travels, but he wasn’t sure if the ladies were still using it. Neither Bai nor Eun were appropriately dressed. Of course, given Eun and Bai’s lack of modesty, he wasn’t even sure if they needed the privacy.

Still, Yuki kept his eyes averted from the underdressed women. Rena had taught him better than that.

Instead, his gaze landed on Abzu who leaned on a nearby tree. The blue dragon was the least friendly of the dragon siblings he’d met so far. Though, the fact that he was followed by his ferret friend spoke otherwise. Animals were good judges of character. Besides, Yuki considered himself a good judge of character as well…enough to say that his fellow dragon wasn’t a bad person.

“See anything interesting?”

Approaching the blue dragon with both hands hidden in his sleeves, Yuki’s eyes were directed towards the rising sun. They still had a yellow dragon to find. Afterwards…well…that could be decided later. The fact that the shy, red-haired princess had been able to gather the three of them was impressive enough. He hadn't thought it would be possible when he'd first joined the two fugitives on their quest. Mei wasn't an ideal leader. She didn't exude the same charisma one would expect from the Crimson Dragon, the first King of Kouka. But that was fine. Yuki wasn't sure if he'd join her if she did. The former Snow Beast wasn't exactly a fan of Sky Clan nobles.

"Huh?! Who would want you to undress them?" Eun retorted, glaring daggers at Jae as she crossed her arms. As the princess approached her, her expressions calmed a notch. "Oh-- Good morning, Mei." Eun greeted with a smile, "Sorry about all the shouting earlier." She apologised, a little embarrassed that she reacted in such a way.

She rubbed her chin as she hummed, looking back at their resources before replying to Mei's question. "Could you grab some water from the river?" Eun asked, giving the red-head an empty pot. "Morning Bai," Eun had to hold back a laugh looking at the still dazed green dragon. "Well! It's good that everyone appreciates my cooking! I'll whip up something good for all of you!" A cheeky grin and her hands on her hips as she let Jae's compliment go to her head and declared her cooking prowess.

"Breakfast will be ready soon, but could you follow Mei to go get water?" She asked, her hands already busying themselves with starting a fire and crushing berries. She scooped out the last bits of last night's dinner once it was warm to Bai's bowl. It barely filled half, but hopefully it would be enough for her to get going. Another cold breeze made Eun shiver and she sneezed. "Why is it suddenly so cold?" She asked no one in particular. Rubbing her arms up and down to warm herself, only to realise why she felt that way. Where did her shirt go?

Abzu
Blue Dragon

Due to the time of day being morning, Abzu felt the surface of his skin tingle underneath the bright rays of the star above. His eyes weren't quite used to such bright conditions so he attempted to pull the hood of his cloak further over his head to allow some adjustment of light for his eyes to feel comfortable in. Once they were somewhat adjusted his attention was over to where Kumo was at, with Mei. There were many questions the Blue Dragon had about the girl considering she was far different from what he had expected the Crimson Dragon to be. But the others Dragons, aside from the Golden one, were there and following after the girl so Abzu felt an obligation to as well. His eyes then wandered over to the other figures around. As they looked over to the bodyguard of Mei he caught the words of an apology from him. A long sigh simply escaped the lips of Abzu as he lifted a hand and motioned a gesture to Jae that all was well. There was no use in staying angry at the man, although this did not mean that he was less annoyed by him.

Eun and Bai seemed to be fine with all that happened considering right after Eun's complaint and throwing of a shirt, they were quick to move directions in conversation topics over to food. Then again food was a great mediator for most situations. Even at this point Abzu was finding himself calming down at the though of Eun's food. Although he decided to rest against the tree a little longer and wait for the food to be fully prepared before he walked over to join the others.

His attention was caught by the small interactions of Mei, Kumo, Jae, Bai, and Eun that he didn't notice the presence of Yuki until he heard a question from the White Dragon. Abzu's golden eyes looked over to the boy, his eyes noting the posture at which he held himself to purposely hide away his noticeable feature. He could tell that the boy did not want any conflict and wanted to start up an interaction with Abzu. This caused Abzu to think hard of a right answer to reply to the White Dragon's question. Although after a few seconds of silence, Abzu realized he might come across as rude, "Aside from the people in front of us, no." Out of doubt though, Abzu focused his abilities on their immediate surroundings in search of any incoming danger. Fortunately he spotted nothing close by, "And all seems quiet around us. Aside from what I can see, how are you fairing this morning, Yukimaru?"
