Palladium System - Robotech

I am pondering starting up a Robotech game set in the aftermath of the First Robotech War. The players would be either a veritech squadron or a destroid squadron, and that would be determined by group vote. I'm looking for 4-6 players, but I may be open to a larger group if you ask.

This game is going to be using the second edition books, but I'll be pulling in material from the first edition as needed. Also, I have made a habit of being quite open to having players in the game that are not familiar with the system but are interested in having fun with the story, so don't let inexperience hold you back if you want to toss your hats into the game.

Any takers?

Hmm. This does not seem to be getting a response, so what about a Rifts game? I wouldn't mind giving that system a run.

I've looked over some of those books, I'd be interested though I'd need help setting up a character.

If you know anyone else that would like to join in, send them this way. I can help out with character creation without a problem.

Any thoughts on what kind of character you'd like to run? Mage, mechwarrior, or something else? Just to give me an idea of what I'm looking at.

Either one. Robotech is a bit easier of a setting to run, but Rifts can be a lot of fun, too. Depends on what level of interest I can generate.

Well, I know three people who might in interested as I've suggested a rifts-lite type of roleplay. Regardless, Rifts encompasses every Palladium series (or so I heard). So a Robotech character can probably be converted to Rifts system if you change your mind for whatever reason. That being said I have no clue what are the races and/or classes associated with the Robotech Series. Do you have a link./url I can look up so at least I have some clue about what it is that I am doing?

The Robotech system is quite simple for races for the first generation. There are humans, Zentraedi and that's about it. The setting that I was thinking about running this time around is after the initial invasion of the Earth and before the SDF-3 leaves for the Robotech Master homeworld. Much of the planet has been devastated by the alien attack, and the human defenders are in the process of reconstruction.

Classes are simple, too. The main ones you can choose from are the Veritech pilot (that's the transformable jet fighter), Destroid pilot (walking tank with massive firepower), Military Specialist, and the Technical Expert. For simplicity sake, I would like for all the characters to either be ground pounders or pilots of the Veritechs. The Military Specialists and Technical Experts can operate either the Destroids or the Veritechs, just not to the same level of skill as a specialized operator can.

Sounds good to me. You said that you know a few players that would be interested in the game? I can have a forum set up once I have a group of confirmed players.

Yes, though I should have been clearer. I ment that statement in relation to a Rifts-like roleplay, not sure how they would feel about a mech roleplay.

Yo, @Rand , you want in (since I saw you wanted to do something with robots)?

Hmm. @Beowulf, you interested in getting in the ground floor of a Robotech game?

Also, @Dannigan and @Kaerri, would either one of you be interested in getting in on this?

No clue what any of this os. Don't know what a Zentraedi is. But I do understand tank transformer ground pounder thingamajig.

Well, in this generation of the game, the Destroids do not transform. But, they are some serious amount of ass-whooping in a metal package. I plan on helping anyone with characters and mecha that don't have the books themselves.

Thanks for the thought, but my RP plate is full at this time. I hope you all have fun with it, though!

I'm up for trying this game. Old time fan of the Robotech books, though the last time I read them was about the last time I played Palladium (i.e. in the 1990s).

I'm up for playing a Veritech pilot! :D

Assuming you're still soliciting players.

Is the majority of this game going to be mech-on-mech action? Did you have other plots in mind? What are you wanting from your players?

This particular game will be focusing on the Destroids, not the Veritechs. But, if you are still interested, I would love to have you join in!
