LOL, bored ... I am in two other RP's, both of which died for the past few weeks, then suddenly activity in both. In one there are old members coming back from a previous version that died. Like that portends well. The other has no plot. It is sci fi without the sci.

Yeah ... your area is resource poor despite its name. It's only advantage is the variety in a small area. I probably have the largest supply of mineral deposits in the group. The real problem for both of us is the lack of mining capacity. Kinda hard to get the ore out of the ground it you can't actually find it a few hundred feet down ... and then have nothing to break it out of the ground with. We both have to create the tools, etc.

Let's see, he wanted a ton of ore ... He'll be lucky to get a tenth of that. Let's say he managed to get 100 lbs of iron extracted. That anvil weighs HOW much?

just found one of my favorite articles on agriculture in prehistoric/ancient europe! it's written by a farmer encouraging people to go back to some of the practices since they're very sustainable, so there's a lot of good practical info as well. link here.

There are some "fruits" that won't be available. Peaches, avocados and apples come to mind. (Don't quote me on peaches. The other two I am sure of.) The reason is that they do not grow "true to seed". This means that if you collect seeds and plant them you won't get the same great taste.

A great tasting apple or avocado from seed is a 1 in 1000 type shot. You can get lucky. If you do, you can only keep growing that taste by splicing cuttings onto a young new tree.

there's evidence of peach cultivation as early as 6000 bce in zhejiang, china, and there's evidence that the chinese were practicing grafting techniques by 2000 bce. (:

And that's why I said don't quote me about peaches. I was on my iPad earlier. Just looked it up from my laptop, and yes peaches are true to seed.

Well folks, I was going to keep my three (four, technically) future plans for this RP (concerning Ed's story, I mean) a secret to avoid spoilers, but I guess I might as well make it brief for this one. After all, who am I to judge, right?

  • Dealing with rivalry via job promotions and becoming a military officer.
  • Taking revenge on the Batbayar clan via military campaigns and such.
  • Forming a clan of his own and migrating southward somewhere to the Korean Peninsula.
  • More to be determined, I guess?
However, do please keep in mind that even though these are my three future plans as a reference point, they might be subject to change. But other than that, yeah. lol

I'm referring back to this topic but I found this. What do you think?

That's a different location. The Yellow is far better for a Neolithic people. More farmland. The description of the Yalu sounds better for 20th century advances - especially in hydroelectric power. Short river that starts at a modest elevation and goes to the ocean. Ideal for power.

The farmland won't matter at first and they would adapt. Not enough population to be a problem. Think Japan in terms of the environment, military tactics, etc.

That's reasonable. So are you saying that the Yalu River is not great for farming?
