MONSTER PROM.
WELCOME TO SPOOKY HIGH.
—
As we all know, nothing in life will ever be more important than what happens in high school.
Think back to every shining, glowing moment where you thought nothing could ever beat this: rowdy football game student sections, tagging along with the gang to head straight to the mall after school, that one epic prank someone managed to pull off during the pep rally, seeing an unlucky, naive freshman get pulled into the toilet by the bathroom’s resident kraken—
Spooky High is an educational institution unlike any other. In an alternate universe where girls, guys, ghouls, and everything in between walk the earth, it’s a dedicated place for monsters—and only monsters—to learn among their own kind. There’s value in being around people like yourself, right?
(But it was mainly the lawsuits that turned Spooky High into a monsters only establishment. Humans just simply weren’t equipped to keep up with their otherworldly classmates. What wimps.)
Perhaps the most exciting event that takes place at Spooky High is the annual prom. I cannot stress that nothing is more important than prom. The entire experience is unique, unlike anything else: the vague but tantalizing hints dropped during class assemblies, the eventual leak by possession or torture of one of the events committee members, and then the pressure to find an outfit that matches the theme and your date’s outfit—
Oh. Since we’re on the subject, you absolutely cannot show up to the prom without a date. I mean, c’mon. It’s prom. That would be such a loser thing to do.
You’ve got three weeks til prom.
Better get to work.
SO, WHAT'S GOING ON?
—
Glad you asked. This is a slice-of-life, supernatural high school group roleplay directly inspired by the dating sim, Monster Prom.
It's a fun, charming, and cheeky little game that is as funny as it is creative, and I thought the overall premise of it was too good to pass up as a group roleplay. Absolutely no prior experience with the game is required to enjoy this roleplay to the fullest, but I do encourage interested applicants to check out the official site, watch a trailer, or maybe even find a fun playthrough.
(You'll have to forgive me for my lack of originality here. This is just really cute, and it felt appropriate as we transition into fall/spooky szn.)
The overall objective is to get to know your fellow monstrous classmates better as you all prepare for the upcoming prom. Once you make your decision on who you're determined to woo, the stakes get higher: each social situation becomes a proving ground of sorts, where you can just as easily put your foot in your mouth as you can score brownie points.
Making wise decisions is key! It's very easy for a good deed to go unnoticed, and some people may forgive but never forget a social blunder.
Characters have the opportunity to interact in the school facilities, as well as off campus at parties, the mall, etc. The good news about a roleplay like this is that there's a lot of room to worldbuild based on what the final cast ends up looking like!
RULES OF THE GAME.
—
I'll be managing this in a similar manner as the game is played, for consistency's sake. Each character will have a set amount of specifically-designed social situations where they can woo their lover(s), where depending on how they handle it, they can be awarded points to boost their social statistics. (This is a bit experimental, but I'll have a better plan by the time the cast is chosen.)
Below, I've detailed more of my own expectations
NO.1 Follow all of RP Nation's rules for conduct and content.
NO.2 This is going to be an advanced roleplay, where good grammar, correct spelling, and tantalizing writing is an expectation. You should be able to comfortably write 500 words per post, at the very minimum.
NO.3 Placement in this roleplay will not be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. I’ll be judging each of the characters on their quality, depth, and originality, and their owners on their writing quality. I'll be strictly capping the cast at eight characters, meaning there will be seven open slots I'm looking to fill.
(Applicants should apply with one character only, there will be no roles, nothing will be gender-locked, and no canon characters will be allowed - more information will come about character creation if there's enough interest.)
NO.4 Please be prepared to post in character at least once a week when the roleplay goes live. Although I'll never encourage a member in all seriousness to forego real life responsibilities and obligations for this group's sake, somewhat frequent activity keeps roleplay groups from dying out.
NO.5 Since the characters themselves will be somewhat younger, and the main source of inspiration for this roleplay is in of itself quite raunchy (i.e. frequent cursing, mention of drug use, and allusions to sexual activity), I ask that applicants please be at or above the age of seventeen years old.
NO.6 Be prepared to chat on Discord. I find it’s a very helpful platform to have quick discussions about characters, plotting, and it’s a low pressure environment where we can all chat with each other. I will make a server for all the accepted members of this roleplay once I have determined who’s going to be in it.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE, GHOULS!
